BRAKES ARE MUSHY AFTER THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE, MONTHS AGO, AND THE MUSHY FEELING WENT AWAY IN A FEW DAYS. THE PROBLEM JUST HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE BRAKES ARE STILL MUSHY A DAY LATER. THE FIRST TIME WAS DUE TO SNOW ON THE ROAD. THE SECOND TIME DUE TO MOSS AND RAIN ON A GRAVEL DRIVEWAY ON A STEEP HILL.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY ROAD THIS MORNING AT 40 MPH, I APPLIED THE BRAKES AS I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION. THERE WAS A RED LIGHT AND I WAS UNABLE TO DECELERATE NORMALLY OR COMPLETELY STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD VERY LITTLE CONTROL. I PUMPED THE BRAKES FEVERISHLY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY SOFT AND HIT THE FLOOR QUICKLY. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN SO EARLY IN THE MORNING, I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THOUGH I WAS ABLE TO SLOW MY SPEED, I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP IN TIME. I HAD TO ROLL THROUGH THE RED LIGHT AND TURN RIGHT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT HAPPENED BEFORE ON THE HIGHWAY IN RAINY, INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE TRAFFIC WAS SLOW AND I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I ATTRIBUTED THIS TO WET, SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS. I NOW FEEL SOMETHING IS TRULY WRONG WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURE EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE BRAKING OR AFTER BRAKING QUICKLY AND HARD, BRAKE PRESSURE/RESISTANCE IS LOST--NOT COMPLETELY, BUT DISARMINGLY NOTICEABLE. I HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES ONCE TO FEEL MORE PRESSURE/RESISTANCE. MY FUSION HAS EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS. I'M PRETTY SURE I REPORTED IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF HARROLD FORD IN SACRAMENTO CA YEARS AGO AND THAT I WAS TOLD THE BRAKES FUNCTION AS THEY SHOULD. GIVEN THAT REPLY, I ASSUMED THAT THIS IS A SIDE EFFECT OF ABS BRAKES. I AM REPORTING THIS COMPLAINT NOW BECAUSE OF THE RECENT MEDIA REPORTS THAT NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING THIS TYPE OF COMPLAINT.. THE DATE SHOWN IN "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" IS AN ESTIMATE OF THE LAST TIME IT OCCURRED. IT HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES IN THE 10+ YEARS THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR. BRAKE PEDAL WILL RANDOMLY GO TO THE FLOOR, LOSING ALL BRAKE CONTROL. WHEN PEDAL IS PUMPED, I REGAIN BRAKES, BUT HAVE HAD SOME VERY CLOSE CALLS. IT USUALLY DOES IT WHILE IN MOTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. LOCAL FORD DEALER FOUND NO BRAKE PROBLEMS WHEN INSPECTED.
THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR OVER A YEAR. THE MOST RECENT EVENT WAS 12/16/2016. AFTER ABS ENGAGES FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME, BRAKES GO SOFT AND THERE IS NO BRAKING POWER UNTIL THE FLOOR, WHEN THEY FINALLY ACTIVATE. PUMPING THE BRAKE ITSELF A FEW TIMES CAN TEMPORARILY HARDEN THE BRAKES. WHAT FIXED IT THE PREVIOUS YEAR [UNTIL ANOTHER ABS EVENT] WAS DOING A FEW HARD EMERGENCY STOPS AT A SLOW SPEED. THIS IS NO LONGER WORKING AND THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF TO DO IS TAKE THIS TO A DEALER EVERY TIME IT ACTIVATES AND HAVE THEM BLEED THE ABS/BRAKE SYSTEM. I HAVEN'T TAKEN THIS INTO THE DEALER, BUT FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN READING, IT'S THE HCU UNIT THAT IS LEAVING A VALVE OPEN. BRAKES HARDEN UP AGAIN WHEN THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND PUT IN PARK. AGAIN, THERE IS VERY LITTLE OR NO BRAKING POWER UNTIL WELL AFTER THE PEDAL IS NEARLY FULLY DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE CLUTCH REPLACED. WHILE HAVING THE REPAIRS COMPLETED, THE TECHNICIAN FRACTURED A TORQUE MOUNT THAT CONNECTED THE ENGINE TO THE TRANSMISSION. ALL THE PARTS WERE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER THE REPAIRS, WHILE DRIVING IN THE SNOW AND CHANGING LANES, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL STARTED SPINNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE TORQUE MOUNT FRACTURED AGAIN. THE CONTACT HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE TORQUE MOUNT WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP MY 2007 FORD FUSION THE BRAKES WOULD LOSE FUNCTIONALITY IN VARYING DEGREES. SOMETIMES THE PEDAL WOULD GET SOFT BUT I WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY PRESSING HARDER AND OTHER-TIMES THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL TO WORK ALL TOGETHER. WHEN THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL THEY WOULD REGAIN FUNCTIONALLY AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES. WHEN I INSPECTED THE BRAKE SYSTEM THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF LEAKING BRAKE FLUID OR BREAK/ROTOR WEAR. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP THE MECHANIC ASSURED ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY ABS BRAKING SYSTEM. THE FAULTY BRAKES IN MY FORD FUSION EVENTUALLY FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY I-195 WHEN TRAFFIC CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP. I SUFFERED A LIFE CHANGING CONCUSSION IN THE RESULTING ACCIDENT AS WELL AS LOSING MY CAR AND JOB. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER AS NO BRAKE FLUID IS LOST FROM THE SYSTEM. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE THERE ARE STILL 2007 FORD FUSIONS ON THE ROAD TODAY THAT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES IN SNOW, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. HAPPENED AGAIN ON REGULAR BLACKTOP PULLING OUT OF A LOW SPOT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS VALVE MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN DOWNTOWN COLUMBIA, SC ON DEVINE ST. DECEMBER 6, 2016, IT STARTED RAINING. I SAW THE CAR IN FRONT ME INDICATE THEY WERE GOING TO TURN SO I TRIED TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL TOUCHED THE FLOOR AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING. I STARTED TO SLIDE, AND BEFORE MY CAR SLOWED DOWN, I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MOMENTS LATER THE CAR BEHIND ME COLLIDED INTO THE REAR OF MY CAR,

THE DEALER (PALLOTTA FORD LINCOLN, 4199 CLEVELAND RD, WOOSTER, OH 44691, (330) 345-6600) PERFORMED SEVERAL REPAIRS FROM BLEEDING THE BRAKES TO REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING ON AN UNEVEN SURFACE, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES FAILED CAUSING A REAR END/FRONT END COLLISION. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR IN THE CITY. HE WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP AT SLOW SPEED AND AS SOON AS HE CAME OFF THE SPEED BUMP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HE WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. HE GOT OUT AND CHECKED FOR LEAKS OR OTHER PROBLEMS AND FOUND NONE. HE TESTED THE BRAKES DRIVING SLOWLY AND THEY SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE, SO HE DROVE IT HOME. WE HAD IT CHECKED BY OUR MECHANIC BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE ON THE AIRBAGS IN JULY 2016 STATING THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. I HAVE RECEIVED NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION SO I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IN DECEMBER 2016. THE DEALER TOLD ME PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SOMETIME IN 2017; POSSIBLY THE SECOND OR THIRD QUARTER OF 2017
I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES ON 2 OCCASIONS; BOTH TIMES THE ANTI-LOCK HAS ENGAGED BRIEFLY AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT "SOFT", TRAVELING QUITE FAR. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING OVER A ROUGH SPOT AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE SECOND TIME THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED WHEN I BRAKED ON AN ICY SPOT.
ABS CONTROL UNIT HAS RECENTLY GONE BAD. SINCE THEN, IT TAKES MUCH LONGER TO STOP. FORD MECHANIC SAID IT IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT ANYMORE. NEEDS REPLACING ASAP.
HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY FORD FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS THROUGH SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 16S26 OF TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL WITH NO REMEDY AS OF YET THROUGH A DEALERSHIP . WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT A FIX WOULD COME IN 2017 NOW THEY ARE SAYING POSSIBLY BY SPRING 2018. AM SEEKING A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL, RECALL IS COMPLETE AS THEY HAVE WARNED FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS NOW " DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO SIT IN PASSENGER SIDE FIRST ROW SEAT." NOT POSSIBLE WHEN CAR POOLING.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NOSE, NECK, AND HAND. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TAKATA RECALL WERE INFORMED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN JULY 2016 ABOUT THE RECALL. WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION SINCE THAT THE PROBLEM WILL BE REMEDIED. LAST COMMUNICATION WITH OUR DEALER ON 11/10/16 THEY TOLD US WHENEVER PARTS COME WE WILL BE GETTING ANOTHER LETTER FROM FORD.

MY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT WHEN PARTS CAME IN I WOULD BE NOTIFIED. II RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE TAKATA RECALL IN JUNE 2016 BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CALLS FROM THE DEALER OR FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR THE RESOLUTION OF THIS PROBLEM. I WROTE TO THE FORD COMPANY ON 11/2/16, BUT AS TO THIS DATE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY REPLY.
I RECEIVED A NOTICE LAST FALL, I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE AIRBAGS REPLACED MANY TIMES BUT AM TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE AVAILABLE PARTS AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN MY AIRBAGS WILL BE REPLACED. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LOCATION IS PULLING UP FROM MY DASH.
AFTER HITTING THE BRAKES AND ENGAGING THE ABS SYSTEM, THE BRAKES HAVE NOW GONE "SOFT" AS THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT HAS NOT RESET ITSELF AND THE BACKSIDE VALVE REMAINS OPEN. I NOW MUST PRESS THE BRAKES ABOUT 90% OF THE DISTANCE TO THE FLOOR EVERY TIME IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP APPROPRIATELY. AFTER SOME BASIC RESEARCH THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH 07 AND 08 FORD FUSIONS. THE MECHANIC CANNOT FIGURE OUT A SURE FIX AND ANY SUGGESTED FIX IS VERY COSTLY WITH NO GUARANTEE OF SUCCESS. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THIS???? VERY UNSAFE!!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROD IN THE DOOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO PARTS BEING ON BACK ORDER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ABS MODULE AND ABS PUMP, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,500.
THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS GONE SOFT, TO THE FLOOR, SEVERAL TIMES DURING NORMAL BRAKING IN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS. IT GREATLY INCREASED STOPING DISTANCE. IT SEEMS TO HAVE OCCURRED ON SNOW COVERED OR ROUGH SPOTS ON THE HIGHWAY. ALL OF THE EVENTS OCCURRED ON ASPHALT PAVED ROADS. IT SELF CORRECTS FAIRLY QUICKLY. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE SAME AS REPORTED BY OTHER OWNERS OF 07-09 FUSIONS AND MILANS.
