I WAS COMING TO A STOP WHILE TURNING IN A THIN PATCH OF MUD, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT NEARLY ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR CAUSING A DRASTIC DROP IN BRAKING CAPABILITY. APPARENTLY, AFTER AN "ABS EVENT", A VALVE IN THE ABS CONTROL UNIT STICKS OPEN ROBBING THE SYSTEM OF PRESSURE. AFTER THE ABS EVENT, I WAS ABLE TO RE-PRESSURIZE THE SYSTEM BY PUMPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE LURCHED, LOST POWER. WRENCH LIT UP ON DASHBOARD. HAD TO PULL OFF ROAD, TURN OFF CAR. WAITED 5 MINUTES, PROCEEDED WITH DRIVE. NO FURTHER INCIDENT OCCURRED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD EXCEED IN EXCESS OF $900. WAS TOLD THE PCM OR THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.IF THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT NOT OUR VIN NUMBER, WHY WAS THAT WARRANTY NOT EXTENDED? AND WHAT ABOUT ALL THE PEOPLE DRIVING THESE CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM HAS ANYONE BEEN HURT YET? IF FORD DOESN'T WANT TO PAY FOR THE FIX THEY SHOULD AT LEAST GIVE PEOPLE A WARNING REGARDING THE ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SIDE STREET ON A MONDAY NIGHT. IT HAD SNOWED ON SATURDAY AND THERE HAD BEEN SOME THAWING AND ICING. I CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED. AFTER THAT THE BRAKES LOST THEIR PRESSURE MAKING BRAKING MORE DIFFICULT. I DEFINITELY COULD NOT STOP FAST IF I NEEDED TOO MAKING IT A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED IN AUGUST OF 2015 AS WELL. I DROVE THE 1/2 MILE TO MY HOUSE AND DECIDED I WOULD TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. UNFORTUNATELY ON MY WAY THERE THE BRAKES ONCE AGAIN ENGAGED THEREFORE, NOT SHOWING UP ON ANY TEST. AGAIN, JUST LIKE IN AUGUST. I HAVE MANY CONCERNS WITH THIS PROBLEM, I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING PEOPLE IN MY VEHICLE, PEOPLE WHO KNOW I HAVE A PROBLEM DO NOT WANT ME TO DRIVE THEM AND THEN THERE'S MY DAUGHTER WHO I WILL NOT ALLOW TO DRIVE THE CAR. I WOULD NOT WANT TO SELL THE CAR KNOWING THAT WHOEVER PURCHASED IT WOULD BE CAUGHT OFF GUARD BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEMS THAT SEEM TO BE HAPPENING TO OTHERS AS WELL, BUT YET THERE IS NO RECALL! GO FIGURE THAT NOTHING WILL BE DONE UNTIL SOMEONE (A CHILD) IS KILLED DUE TO GREED! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HCU BECAME JAMMED IN THE OPEN POSITION, CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STICK TO THE FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HCU WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
AFTER NOTICING BRAKING ISSUES I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT TO INVESTIGATE WHAT THE ISSUE MAYBE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE MASTER CYLINDER. THIS PART WAS REPLACED AND THEN AFTER REPLACING NOTICED AIR GOING INTO THE LINE. AFTER NOTICING THE SOUND OF AIR THERE WAS AIR LINES AFTER THE FLUSH. IT WAS DETERMINED A FAULTY ABS SENSOR
SOFT PEDAL, GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR, HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT HAS BEEN CHANGED, BRAKES HAVE BEEN BLEED MANUALLY AND POWER BLEED. COMMON ISSUE FORD KNOWS ABOUT INVOLVING 2007 AND 2008 FORD FUSIONS. ALREADY CALLED FORD AND COMPLAINED. VERY COSTLY FIX FOR THE CONSUMER $950 PART. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT OCCURRED. IT ALSO DID IT WHEN HITTING A BUMP AND THE ABS TURNED ON, THE PEDAL REMAINED SOFT, NO ABS LIGHT OR BRAKE LIGHTS ON.
I HAVE TRIED REPEATEDLY TO OBTAIN RECALL REPAIR WITH VARIOUS FORD DEALERSHIPS TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT RISK. I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO USE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE.
AFTER ABS EVENT, BRAKE PEDAL IS NOW LOW. SHOP CHECKED FOR LEAKS, AIR, AND MASTER CYLINDER HEALTH AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY OTHER EXPLANATION. CAR DOES STOP BUT BARELY.
ATTACHED IS THE WORK ORDER AND THE PAYMENT RECEIPT WE PAID FORD, WE PRAY THAT WE CAN GET OUR MONEY BACK. ON OCT 28,2015 MY FORD FUSION: LOW/SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AT TIMES , I BROUGHT MY CERTIFIED PRE OWNED FORD FUSION 2008 IN 2012, AT CAPITAL FORD DEALERSHIP IN RALEIGH NC. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS WONDERFUL. I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN ON SOCIAL SECURITY I HAVE NO FUNDS FOR SAVINGS SO I AM LIMITED IN WHAT I DO, MY BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, I DRIVE MY GREAT GRANDSON TO KINDERGARTEN DAILY, TO SCHOOL AND ON THAT DAY IT WAS A DRY DAY, I AM AFRAID THE CAR WON'T STOP ONE DAY. I HAVE ALL INFO THAT IT IS NOT THE MASTER CYLINDER, BUT A HCU, MY WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 124,000 MILES, I HAVE 132,000 MILES, BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE 2008 FORD FUSIONS. THEN ON NOV. 3 I WAS DRIVING TO RALEIGH AND WENT TO STOP AT THE LIGHT AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND I PANICKED BUT GOT THE CAR TO STOP WITH HITTING ANY THING, WHEN MY HUSBAND CALLED FORD THE MAN SAID THAT THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THAT YEAR VEHICLE BEFORE, AND THAT ALL 3 COMPONENTS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED ANT THE SAME TIME WE HAVE NO MONEY OTHER THAN SOCIAL SECURITY, AND WE HAD TO PAY $2,700 TO HAVE IT FIXED THIS IS SO TERRIBLE FOR A COMPANY LIKE FORD TO HAVE A RECALL ON FLOOR MATS AND NOT ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM OR THE TRANSMISSION, OUR CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO FORD ABOUT THE CAR LURCHING FORWARD WHEN WE STEPPED ON THE GAS AND THEM AT 40 MILES PER HOUR THE WHOLE CAR WOULD LURCH LIKE IT WAS JUMPING PUT OF GEAR, AND THE FORD MECHANIC SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR, I HAVE A SMALL CHILD AND I AM AFRAID THE BRAKES WON'T WORK, I SEE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE COMPUTER, I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO FORD AND THEY SAID THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING BUT IT WILL COST ME $2,000, I AM A SENIOR I DON'T HAVE IT, HELP.
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
FAULTY HCU: IN MARCH 2015, MADE A HARD STOP AND THE '08 FUSION WENT INTO AN ABS STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME VERY SOFT AND ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND PUMP THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY TO GET BACK TO A IT'S NORMAL STATE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ONLY DRIVING 25-30 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT INSPECTED FOR A COST OF $125. OF COURSE, THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. FORD PROBABLY TOLD THEIR DEALER TO KEEP SILENT ON THIS ISSUE. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS, THIS SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE TRYING TO STOP ON VERY A ROUGH ROAD. FORTUNATELY, AGAIN I WAS ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 25MPH. NOW, THIS WAS GETTING A LITTLE FRIGHTENING SO I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE HCU. ON 10/23/15, I HAD THE HCU REPLACED BY A FORD DEALER FOR A COST OF ALMOST $1,200. PROBLEM SOLVED...AT MY EXPENSE. FUNNY HOW THE FORD DEALER COULDN'T TROUBLE SHOOT THIS ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXTERNAL THROTTLE BODY WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,600. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE SLOWLY DRIVING, I HEARD A POP NOISE AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD THE BREAKS CHECKED, ROTOR, PAD, FLUID AND HAD THEM BLED. NOTHING WRONG AND NO CHANGE. I TOOK THEM 3 DIFFERENT PLACES AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. IF I PUMPED THE BREAKS, THE PEDAL WILL COME BACK, BUT IF I HIT A POTHOLE, MINOR BUMP OR IF ITS WET, SNOW OR ICE...THEY GO OUT AGAIN AND I AM TERRIFIED OF WRECKING AND HURTING MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE! I TOOK IT IN SOMEWHERE ELSE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO TELL ME IT'S THE ABS SYSTEM AND THAT IT MAY NEED A NEW ABS MODULE WHICH IS QUITE EXPENSIVE! I AM VERY AFRAID TO DRIVE, BUT I HAVE NO CHOICE; WORK AND HOME. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! I HAVE NOW SEEN THIS PROBLEM REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES AND NO RECALL? WHY IS THIS NOT TAKEN CARE OF? I WONDER HOW MANY ACCIDENTS HAVE BEEN DUE TO THIS? WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE IT RECALLED? IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE ABS PROBLEM...THAT FORD IS NOT ADDRESSING.
WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THE BRAKES AND TRANSMISSION, OUR BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR ON A FEW OCCASIONS, THEN IT SEEMED FINE, AND IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE, WE HAD TO PAY $2,700 TO HAVE FORD FIX IT, AND THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS, WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS THE CAR LURCHES AND THIS IS GOING TO COST A LOT OF MONEY THAT WE DON'T HAVE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A GRAVEL ROAD AT SLOW SPEED FOR ABOUT 3 MILES I CAME TO A STOP SIGN/INTERSECTION. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BEFORE IT DID BRAKE AND LOCKED THE WHEELS AND SLID TO A STOP. I DROVE ANOTHER HUNDRED FEET AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND IT DID THE SAME THING; PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. WITH MOTOR IDLING I OPENED THE HOOD AND CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WHICH WAS FULL, CLOSED THE HOOD AND CHECKED THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE FINE; A FULL PEDAL. I DROVE ANOTHER 20 MILES OR SO IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND THE BRAKES WERE FLAWLESS, FULL WORKING PEDAL, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I THEN WENT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I RELATED THE ABOVE TO THE SERVICE MGR. AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO WAY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM SINCE AT THAT TIME EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE. HE ADVISED ME THAT IT COULD BE THE BOOSTER OR MASTER CYLINDER LOSING VACUUM , BUT THERE WAS NO WAY TO CHECK IT. I SUGGESTED TRADING THE VEHICLE SINCE IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BUT THAT MIGHT GET SOMEONE ELSE KILLED. THE SERVICE MGR. SAID IF/WHEN IT HAPPENS AND DOES NOT CHANGE OR CORRECT ITSELF, THEY COULD THEN FIX IT. WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN I FEAR IT WILL RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. WHAT CAN I DO? THERE ARE SEVERAL FORUMS, ETC. THAT SUGGEST I AM NOT ALONE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO IT. I AM SO AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT I CANNOT KEEP IT AND I FEAR FOR ANYONE WHO PURCHASES IT. I NEED AN ANSWER.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THE CAR HAS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SURGED FORWARD AND LAST WEEK AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE GAS PEDAL WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND THE "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I RESTARTED IT AND IT SEEMED TO BE OK BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I PLUGGED IN A CODE READER AND IT GAVE ME ERROR CODES P2104 AND P2112. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS ISN'T PART OF A RECALL BASED ON THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IT IS AFFECTING.
UPON EXITING A HIGHWAY AND APPROACHING A RIGHT TURN EXIT RAMP AND DRIVING OVER A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD UNDER CONSTRUCTION. WHILE TURNING AND SIMULTANEOUSLY APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED AND THEN THE BRAKE SYSTEM SUDDENLY FAILED WITH THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE CAR. I ARRIVED AT MY LOCATION LESS THAN A MILE AWAY AND SAFELY PARKED THE CAR. AFTER MY WORK CONFERENCE (7 HOURS LATER) I RETURNED TO MY CAR AND THE BRAKES PRESSURE RETURNED, BUT REMAINED VERY SOFT. CURRENTLY, WHEN THE CAR IS NOW OPERATED THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDS TO BE APPLIED ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WHEN DESCENDING A HILL OR COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP ON LEVEL GROUND. THE CAR RESPONDS INITIALLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED, BUT THEN GOES SOFT AS THE CAR NEEDS TO COME TO A STOP AT LESS THAN 10MPH. TO FIND CONSISTENT PRESSURE FOR BRAKING THE CAR RESPONDS BEST WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED PARTIALLY, THEN RELEASED AND APPLIED AGAIN. THIS METHOD WAS ADOPTED AFTER THE BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED. BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. *TR
DRIVER'S INTERIOR DOOR LATCH BROKE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS CAR FROM MY RESEARCH. THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE. THE ONLY WAY OUT OF THE CAR IS BY LOWERING THE WINDOW AND OPENING THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, THIS MAY NOT BE FEASIBLE. THE 2013 FUSION HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS WAS A RECALL. WHY NOT ON THE EARLIER FUSION. REPAIRS COST OWNERS OVER $300.
I DON'T HAVE A CLUE . IT'S JUST BUST TO FLAME
DASH IS BULGING AROUND PASSENGER AIR BAG; MY CAR IS ALWAYS PARKED UNDER OUR 3 SIDED ENCLOSED CAR PORT YEAR ROUND. THIS JUST PUFFED UP ONE MORNING WHEN I WAS GETTING IN CAR - NOTICED. NO PREVIOUS INDICATOR. ITS BIG NOW AND I WORRY AIR BAG WILL "COME LOOSE" MY CAR NOT ON RECALL LIST BUT IT SHOULD BE... THIS IS DANGEROUS. SUPPOSE A PASSENGER LEANS FORWARD AND GRABS IT.. NOT GOOD SITUATION... AND DEALER / FORD SHOULD STAND BY A WARRANTY OF SOME SORT. THIS COMES UP OUT OF THE BLUE.. I'VE NOT BEEN IN ACCIDENT... CAR HAS EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE...
EVER SINCE I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID SOMEONE ELSE GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT 6 MONTHS AGO ON THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN VERY SPONGY. I HAVE REPLACED BRAKE PADS AND TURNED THE ROTORS ALSO BLED THE BRAKES. I CAN STILL PRESS THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A FIX. I'M A HUGE FORD FAN, BUT THIS IS JUST EMBARRASSING AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR SUCH A POPULAR CAR AND COMPANY. SACK UP AND MAKE A RECALL FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE TRUE FORD LOVERS!
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE WEATHER ON HIGHWAY/GRAVEL/CITY STREETS OR BUMPS THIS VEHICLES BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THEY ARE VERY SOFT TO PUSH AS IF THERE WAS AIR IN LINES,YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE BRAKE PEDDEL TO THE FLOOR TO STOP AND PRAY THAT YOU DO STOP. I HAVE SPENT $$$ TRYING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM... ONE DAY IM NOT GOING TO STOP IN TIME MY KIDS OR MYSELF AND ANYONE KR ANUTHING INVOLVED IS GOING TO BE HURT. THIS PROBLEM IS WORSE IF THE ROAD IS WET BUT IT IS STILL A CONSTANT PROBLEM ON AN EVERY DAY BASIS. I HAVE HAD WORKERS FROM FORD AND OTHER SHOPES TELL ME I NEED TO GET IT FIXED, AS I HAVE TRIED AND SPENT $400+ AND STILL WONT FIX IT. TAKATA RECALL - OVER 1 YEAR SINCE NOTICE ARRIVED - DEALER SAYS NO PARTS AND NO TIMETABLE FOR REPLACEMENT
I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY MY ENGINE "STALED" AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. IT FORCED ME TO PULL OVER, SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, AND RESTART IT AFTER ABOUT 2 MINUTES. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT. IT DID IT A SECOND TIME WHILE DOING 40MPH, TRYING TO MAKE IT HOME. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME BEHAVIOR THAT IS COVERED BY THE 2009-2013 ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING THERE IS A LOUD HUMMING SOUND, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, THE CENTER SUPPORT BEARING IS BAD, AND DRIVE SHAFT IS RUSTED, ALMOST SOLID. THE VEHICLE MILES ARE FAR TOO LOW FOR THIS TO BE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN A FRONTAGE ROAD WHEN I PUT MY FOOT TO THE BRAKE PEDAL I FELT THE ABS BRAKES ENGAGE AND THEN WHEN I BROKE AGAIN MY FOOT WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I WAS GLAD THAT I WAS ONLY GOING 25 MILES PER HOUR AND THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN BECAUSE THERE WAS A CAR OR PERSON I NEEDED TO STOP FOR BECAUSE I WOULD HAVE HIT IT/THEM. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG BUT AFTER LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM ON LINE FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME CAR AND YEAR. AN INTERMITTENT ABS BRAKE PROBLEM. THE REPAIR COST WILL BE $800 FOR THE PART AND 5 HOURS OF LABOR. SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THERE IS NOT RECALL FOR WHAT COULD AND MAYBE HAS BEEN SUCH A DANGEROUS FAULTY PART.

THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND WHEN I GOT THERE I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES ONCE AGAIN ENGAGED BUT I LEFT IT THERE ANYWAY BECAUSE I DID NOT TRUST WHAT WAS GOING ON. I RECEIVED A CALL TODAY FROM MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT THROUGH SOME RESEARCH HE DID, HE FOUND THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM RECORDED WITH THE ABS ON THE 2008 FORD FUSIONS. THE PART WOULD TAKE UP TO 3 DAYS TO GET AT A COST OF $800 WITH 5 HOURS OF LABOR TO REPAIR!!! AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH MYSELF, IT SEEMS LIKE MY CAR IS NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO AND I'M SHOCKED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR SUCH A SAFETY HAZARD. I WAS JUST GLAD THAT THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE CAR VS. MY DAUGHTER AND THAT I WAS NOT IN A SITUATION THAT I NEEDED TO BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING SOMEONE OR SOMETHING.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATION WAS NORMAL WHILE THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I NOTICED THE AREA WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS IS BULGING FROM THE DASH. WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR IT WOULD TURN OVER AND IMMEDIATELY CUT OUT. AIRBAG ICON IS LIT UP ON DASH AS IS THE ENGINE LIGHT. REPEATED EFFORTS TO START AND KEEP GOING WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. SINCE I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK I KEPT TRYING. FINALLY GOT GOING AND TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. GOT STARTED AGAIN AND PROCEEDED TO WORK AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN GOING ABOUT 35 MPH. RAN FINE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, BACK TO THE SAME OLD THING TODAY WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYING ON. I HAVE READ OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE HOWEVER I COULD NOT FIND THAT REPORT TODAY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE TRAVELING ALONG AND HAVE THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON YOU. FORD REALLY NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE. I AM CONTEMPLATING REPORTING THIS TO A NEWS STATION BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. THE OTHER REPORTS I JUST READ DO NOT MENTION CAR CUTTING OUT ON THEM OR AIRBAG AND ENGINE LIGHTS ON.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK BECAME INOPERABLE. DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK USING THE LOCK SWITCH OR THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY. THE ONLY WAY TO LET YOURSELF OUT FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE IS TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS WITH THE ACTUAL KEY ITSELF. THIS IS VERY INCONVENIENT AND DANGEROUS I FEEL IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT. ALSO, MY 2008 FUSIONS AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH IS STARTING TO LIFT AWAY. ANYTHING TO DUE WITH MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IS A BIG DEAL! THESE THINGS ARE DANGEROUS AND NEED TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED!
A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT IS BULGING AND AM AFRAID THAT IT MAY DEPLOY ACCIDENTALLY CAUSING BODILY HARM.
MY SON'S 2008 FORD FUSION HAS A BULGING DASHBOARD AT THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SECTION. IT LOOKS LIKE IF DEPLOYED, THE BAG WOULD BE PREVENTED FROM PROTECTING THE PASSENGER. I AM SEEING MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS TOPIC ON '07 AND '08 FORD FUSIONS. ANY FORD ISSUED RECALLS??
TAKATA RECALL: I DO NOT THINK THAT ENOUGH PRESSURE IS BEING APPLIED TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. MY CAR SHOULD BE PULLED AND A RENTAL CAR PROVIDED AT NO COST. THAT WILL GET THEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM FASTER. I DO NOT HAVE FULL USE OF MY VEHICLE AS I NO LONGER ALLOW A PASSENGER TO RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT. BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT AFTER DRIVING OVER POT HOLE IN SUMMER OF 2015.DID ONLINE RESEARCH THAT POINTED TO THE ABS HYDRALIC CONTROL UNIT. FORD DEALER REPLACED BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND I HAD MARGINAL IMPROVEMENT. FEW MONTHS LATER WENT TO A SNOWY EMPTY PARKING AND ACTIVATED THE ABS DOING A QUICK STOP. BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WASN'T VERY FIRM AFTER MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT GOT VERY SOFT. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD WHO REPLACED THE ABS HCU. BRAKE PEDAL RETURNED TO NORMAL FIRMNESS. FORD HAS REVISED THIS PART WHICH I HAD FAIL. IT'S THE ABS HCU WHICH HAS A VALVE STICK OPEN. GO TO YOU TUBE AND SEARCH FORDTECHMACALUSO SOFT FUSION BRAKE PEDAL WHO DESCRIBES THIS SAME PROBLEM.

HE RECOMMENDED TO DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE TO RESET COMPUTER SYSTEM. DISCONNECTED WAIT FOR 10 SECONDS AND RE-START THE ENGINE, THEN EVERYTHING WORKED. TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER, SERVICE ADVISOR BELIEVE TO BE THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. VERIFIED IN THE COMPUTER IF THERE'S A RECALL FOR 2008 FORD FUSION, HOWEVER NOTHING REPORTED AT THIS TIME. *TR

A POLICE REPORT AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED BRAIN INJURIES, BRUISES TO THE CHEST AREA, AND LACERATIONS TO THE FOREHEAD WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,501.

AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY WIDESPREAD ISSUE, OF WHICH FORD HAS NO REMEDY IN PLACE FOR EXCEPT REPLACING THE ENTIRE DASH. FOR A CAR WITH RELATIVELY LOW MILES OVER THE COURSE OF OWNERSHIP, THIS SEEMS LIKE AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED. I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW IT MAY AFFECT DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG, AND I'M NOT SURE I WANT TO FIND OUT. *TR
REPLACED ALL 4 PADS AND ROTORS. DRIVERS SIDE REAR IS STICKING. IT HAS HEATED UP SO MUCH IT HAS WARPED THE NEW ROTOR. THE OTHER 3 STAY COOL AND WORK AS EXPECTED. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND CALIPER FAILURE VERY COMMON ON THE FORD FUSION. I REPLACED CALIPER AND BRAKE HOSE. STILL STICKING. SINCE I CAN ONLY GET REMANUFACTURED CALIPERS, I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO KEEP RETURNING UNTIL I GET ONE THAT WORKS PROPERLY. THESE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED OR REPLACEMENTS ISSUED. *TR
