THE DASH PAD SURROUNDING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS BULGING UPWARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. A YEAR AGO, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INDICATED THAT PRESSURE WAS BEING HELD WITHIN THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

TAKATA INFLATORS MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN SAFE NO ONE CAN SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT I'M MAKING PAYMENTS FOR TWO YEARS OVER 5000 TO BE DRIVING UNSAFE VEHICLE NEITHER TAKATA OR FORD GIVE ME A RESOLUTION TO THIS MATTER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS LIFTING UP THE SENSOR IS SOMETIMES ON AND OFF ON THE DASH BOARD
PASSENGER DOOR LATCH/LOCK BROKE, UNABLE TO OPEN DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. I HAVE OWN THIS FUSION SINCE 2008 THIS IS THE THIRD TIME A DOOR LATCH/LOCK HAS BROKEN. THE PREVIOUS TWO TIMES HAVE BEEN ON THE DRIVER SIDE, FIRST TIME MILEAGE WAS AROUND 40,000 SECOND TIME WAS AROUND 80,000. BELIEVE THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE IS THE CAR IS INTO A CAR ACCIDENT OR IS FORCE INTO THE WATER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER WOULD BE UNABLE TO ESCAPE THE CAR. *TR
THE BRAKES ON MY 2008 FORD FUSION SUDDENLY STARTED GOING TO THE FLOOR. I COULD PUMP THEM UP AND WOULD HAVE BRAKING ABILITY BUT THEY WOULD AGAIN GO TO THE FLOOR THE NEXT TIME I WENT TO STOP. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER RESERVOIR. IT WAS AT THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE FOUND LEAKAGE AT THE REAR OF THE BRAKE RESERVOIR. THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE THEN. *TR
I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS AND GET THE SAME ANSWER THAT THE PART IS NOT IN, I HAVE TRIED AT OTHER DEALERS AS WELL WITH NO LUCK.
WENT TO WORTHINGTON FORD IN LONG BEACH OVER A YEAR AGO (EXACT DATE NOT SURE) AFTER GETTING AN AIRBAG RECALL LETTER AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE AIR BAGS REPLACEMENTS FOR MY CAR AT THE TIME. I CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL NO REPLACEMENT. I SERVICE MY CAR THERE ALL THE TIMER AND THEY NEVER CHECKED ABOUT THIS. OTHER CUSTOMERS WERE THERE FOR THE SAME RECALL AND WERE TOLD THE SAME THING. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER CALLED ME IF THE PART WAS IN. STILL WAITING. WHEN ARE THESE AIRBAGS GOING TO COME IN?
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOR DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V384000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES DO NOT WORK AND HITTING A MINOR BUMP KNOCKS SOMETHING OUT OF PLACE OR STICKS. THAT PREVENTS MY ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM TO WORK AT ALL, ALLOWING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BE PUSHED DOWN TO THE FLOOR TILL IT FEELS LIKE YOUR FOOT IS GOING THROUGH THE FLOOR TO MAKE IT STOP. IS SOMETHING REPORTED BY NUMEROUS OWNERS OF THE EXACT MAKE, MODEL & YEARS. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT COULD RESULT IN DEATH & NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE.
DRIVING SLOW THROUGH THE CITY WHEN HAD TO TAP BRAKE PEDAL FOR A VEHICLE THAT WAS VEERING INTO MY LANE. UPON DOING SO, MY BRAKES WENT SOFT AND I NOTICED THAT I HAVE TO PUSH PEDAL SIGNIFICANTLY FURTHER BEFORE I SENSE ANY SLOWING OF MY VEHICLE. EVER SINCE, MY BRAKES HAVE STAYED THIS WAY AND I'M UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING MY VEHICLE LIKE THIS. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SHOP AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WHEN THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON IT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 1.5 YEARS THIS HAS HAPPENED. FIRST TIME, THE ABS SYSTEM WAS REPLACED AND IT WAS NORMAL FOR ABOUT A YEAR. NOW IT HAPPENED AGAIN.
MY DAUGHTERS CAR SO WHEN IT STARTED I NOT SURE. I DROVE THE CAR AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKES THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE PEDAL WOULD PUMP BACK UP. TOOK CAR AND HAD THE BRAKES BLED. THAT DIDNT WORK.THEY PUT ON A NEW MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE ARE MUSHY AT BEST. DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE FAILED AND WOULD NOT OPEN DOOR. HAD TO POWER WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN FROM EXTERIOR. WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF PERSON NEEDED TO EXIT VEHICLE QUICKLY. NOTICED THERE WERE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS UNDER BOTH "LATCHES/LOCKS" AND "STRUCTURE" THAT WERE THE SAME OR SIMILAR. I DIDN'T CHECK OTHER MODEL YEARS, HOWEVER SINCE THE FAILED PART FITS SEVERAL OTHER MODEL YEARS I WOULD THINK THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE DEALER LOCATED A FAILURE CODE AT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY WARRANTY REPLACEMENT PROGRAM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
I WAS ON THE ON RAMP FOR THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATED TO ENTER AHEAD OF UPCOMING TRACTOR TRAILER. I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON ME. I MANAGED TO GET INTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE BEFORE BEING HIT BY THE ONCOMING TRACTOR TRAILER. I TURNED OFF IGNITION AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO START CAR AGAIN. IT DID START AND I DROVE HOME. VEHICLE SEEMED FINE THE NEXT FEW DAYS EXCEPT FOR AN INCIDENT WHERE CAR WAS OFF, NO KEYS IN IT, BUT BELL KEPT GOING OFF WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR. HAD TWO MORE INSTANCES WHERE CAR STALLED WHEN FIRST STARTED IN MORNING, THOUGHT IT WAS JUST COLD. FIVE DAYS AFTER FIRST INCIDENT IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I STARTED CAR AND IT STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I STEPPED ON GAS IT FELT ODD, LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING THE GAS. I PROCEEDED TO PUT IN DRIVE, GOT A THIRD OF A MILE FROM HOME AND THE EXACT SAME THING OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. WOULD NOT START FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES BUT ONCE STARTED I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK HOME. HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AND I AM TERRIFIED I WILL BE BADLY HURT OR HURT SOMEONE ELSE BY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. NO WARNING JUST A COMPLETE ENGINE SHUT DOWN. NOW AFTER ALL INSTANCES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE ENGINE FRONT COVER GASKET ISSUES. *SMD THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE ENGINE FRONT COVER GASKET, CRANK SEAL, OIL PAN GASKET, VALUE COVER GASKET AND SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED RIGHT AWAY, OR THE ENGINE WOULD BLOW. *JB
WAS IN 4TH GEAR, ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE SPEED STARTED TO INCREASE WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE PEDDLE. SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, RPM'S STARTED TO REV, ALL OF SUDDEN, RPM'S DROPPED AND THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS ON A MAIN ROAD. *TR
HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT ON THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED! CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEM FAILURE. DRIVING ON RESIDENTIAL STREET AT AROUND 30 MPH, CLEAR AND DRY CONDITIONS. MADE A HARD STOP TO AVOID A DOG IN THE ROAD. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGED AND THEN THE BRAKES FAILED, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. PUMPED THEM AND THE BRAKES WERE NOW SPONGY AND WENT TO THE BOTTOM AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE CHANGED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND IT FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO CHANGE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT ON THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. IT FAILED AND WAS STUCK OPEN. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS CAR. COST TO REPAIR WAS $1678.00. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND NEEDING TO COME TO A STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT AND GOES STRIAGHT TO THE FLOOR. WE HAVE HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED AND ALL THE FLUID AND THOSE ARE FINE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT COULD BE THE MASTER CYLINDER BUT PROBABLY THE HYDRAULIC CYLINDER UNIT. THE DASH BY THE PASSANGER AIR BAG IS LIFTING FROM THE DASHBOARD. I HAVE SEEN MANY OF THE SAME EXACT POST FOR BOTH ISSUES. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE MADE ON THESE PARTS BEFORE SOMEONE SERIOUSLY GETS HURT. THIS IS UNEXCEPTABLE THAT FORD IS NOT TAKING CAR OF THESE ISSUES. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH AS MANY PEOPLE THAT ARE REPORTING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES THAT MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING. TAKE THIS SERIOUS PLEASE, SUBMIT THROUGH RECALLS SO PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO DIE OR GET SERIOUSLY HURT IN AN ACCIDENT TO GET YOUR ATTENTION. *TR
THERE IS A HUMP IN MY DASH FROM THE AIR BAG, GOT A LETTER FROM THEM SAYING IT WAS UNSAFE FOR ANYONE TO SIT IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, I HAVE BEEN VERY PATIENT AS I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND IT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MORE THAN 4 YEARS. I FEEL FORD HAS HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO FIX THIS. REALLY??? MAKE MY HUSBAND AND SON HAVE TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT???? I HAVE GROWN VERY TIRED OF LOOKING AT HUMP ON DASH FROM DEFECTIVE AIRBAG. IT IS TIME MY CAR WAS FIXED!!!!!!!!! THE HUMP BELOW AIRBAG ON DASH JUST POPPED UP GOING DOWN THE ROAD - IT WAS NEITHER EXTREMELY HOT OR COLD.

THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS NORMAL AND THAT THERE WAS NO DEFECT. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT LOOK FURTHER DUE TO CONCERN OF DAMAGING THE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,252.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V384000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 169,000.
WHILE DRIVING AROUND A CORNER I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, HEARD A SNAP OR POP SOUND AND IMMEDIATELY THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT AND MOVED TOWARDS THE FLOOR. BRAKING POWER WAS REDUCED AND ABS APPEARED TO NOT FUNCTION (NO CLICKING SOUND). SINCE THIS EVENT MY BRAKES HAVE NOT RECOVERED AND I STILL HAVE SOFT BRAKES WITH REDUCED BRAKING POWER. TO WORK PROPERLY I NEED TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO RESTORE TEMPORARILY THE PRESSURE. THIS WAS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE PAST TWO TIMES THE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL USE AFTER A DAY OR SO. IN THE PREVIOUS TWO INSTANCES I EXPERIENCED THE SAME RESULT BUT THE INTITIATION WAS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT. 1ST INCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY STOPPING ON WET PAVEMENT. THE ABS STARTED TO ENGAGED AND THEN SEEMED TO DISENGAGE...RESULT SOFT BRAKES FOR A DAY. THE 2ND INCIDENT WAS INTITATED BY SLOWING DOWN FOR A STOP SIGN AND HITTING A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR AND SOFT BRAKES FOR A DAY. I AM SEEING MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE ON THE INTERNET BOARDS BUT APPEARS THERE IS NO KNOWN SOLUTION ONLY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS THAT DO NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 15-20 MPH APPROACHING A BUSY INTERSECTION BEGAN APPLYING BRAKES AND THEY INSTANTLY FELT SOFT AND SPONGY AND WENT NEARLY TO THE FLOOR I CONTINUED TO APPLY PRESSURE AS I APPROACHED A BUSY INTERSECTION AND EVENTUALLY STOPPED. CONTINUED TO DRIVE TO GET SOMEPLACE SAFE AND AT EVERY BRAKE THE BRAKES WERE VERY SOFT AND NEEDED A LOT OF ADDITIONAL SPACE TO STOP AND WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. IN REVIEWING ALL FORUMS THIS SEEMS A COMMON AND SUDDEN ISSUE. MINE OCCURRED WITH NO WARNING, POPPING OR ABS ENGAGING. THE VEHICLE HAS BULGING DASH BOARD AT THE PASSENGER SIDE /AIRBAG CASE AND THE AIRBAG SIGNAL IS ALWAYS ON . I NOTICED IT AROUND 3 MONTHS AGO. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE AT DANA MOTORS IN STATEN ISLAND ,WAS TOLD NO A RECALL ON AIRBAG AND THEY DO NOT FIX BULGING DASH BOARD..PLEASE HELP. *TR
TAKATA RECALL: MY PASSENGER FRONT SEAT AIRBAG IS FAULTY AND THAT HAS BEEN IMPLICATED IN A NUMBER OF INTERMITTENT, UNEXPLAINED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND A CONSTANT "PARASITIC DRAIN" ON MY BATTERY REQUIRING A REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR AND 2 BATTERIES, SO FAR. ALSO I HAVE BEEN LIMITED IN PERFORMING DUTIES OF MY JOB WHICH REQUIRES TRANSPORTATION OF OTHERS WHO (FOR MEDICAL NEEDS) NEED TO BE IN THE FRONT SEAT FOR OBSERVATION. THEREFORE I HAVE SUFFERED A FINANCIAL LOSS AS WELL. I DROVE THIS VEHICLE FOR 5 YEARS, TRANSPORTING MY OWN CHILDREN IT THE FRONT SEAT BEFORE I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE. I WAS TOTALLY UNAWARE OF THE DEADLY POTENTIAL DANGER I EXPOSED MY CHILDREN FOR HOURS EVERYDAY. I AM NOW SUFFERING FROM GUILT, FEAR AND SHAME FOR BEING UNABLE TO CONFIDENTLY PROTECT MY CHILDREN FROM DANGERS THAT WERE WELL KNOWN TO FORD & TAKATA FOR MANY YEARS, BUT KEPT SECRET FROM THE PUBLIC. I HAVE SUFFERED EMOTIONAL STRESS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE-SIMILAR TO PTSD - FROM THIS SITUATION.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DASHBOARD HAS BEGUN TO SEPARATE AT THE AIRBAG SEAM ON THE LOWER SIDE AND BUBBLED OUT, APPROXIMATELY 3-4 INCHES. *TR
BELT IDLER PULLEY ATTACHMENT BOLT BROKE OFF WHILE NEGOTIATING A CORNER, DETACHING THE PULLEY FROM THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR CAUSING SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, ALTERNATOR CHARGING, AND ENGINE COOLING. FORD FUSION EQUIPPED WITH THE 2.3L MOTOR. THIS ISSUE HAS NOW HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, WITH MULTIPLE PARTS REPLACED EACH TIME IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE UNDERLYING ISSUE. A QUICK SEARCH ONLINE REVEALS THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD/MAZDA 2.3L 4 CYLINDER. *JS

THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE ALREADY. THE FIRST TIME, THE ABS BRAKES ENGAGED AFTER DRIVING OVER SOME WATER ON THE HIGHWAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOT SOFT, WENT DOWN ALMOST TO THE FLOOR, AND DID NOT RESET ITSELF. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE WITH THE DECREASED BRAKING POWER. I CALLED A FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH I COULD HEAR SOME SNICKERING IN THE BACKGROUND. I TOLD THEM I FOUND FORUM AFTER FORUM ONLINE OF OTHER FUSION OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE VERY SAME THING. THEY COULD ONLY OFFER AN APPOINTMENT IN 2.5 WEEKS TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT. I CALLED AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE AND A MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT THE SAME DAY, CHECKED A FEW THINGS AND ADDED SOME BRAKE FLUID TO THE MASTER CYLINDER (MC). THE BRAKING POWER RETURNED. HE SAID I WOULD NEED A NEW MC IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE ABS BRAKES ENGAGED AFTER I BRAKED TO AVOID A CAR MAKING A SURPRISE TURN IN FRONT OF ME. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND BECAME SOFT. IT FELT LIKE I HAD NO BRAKING POWER AT ALL. I HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTREMELY HARD IN ORDER TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND KEPT PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL REPEATEDLY TO GET IT TO RESET. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, IT RESET ITSELF TO ITS NORMAL POSITION. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER A FEW DAYS LATER. THEY COULD GET THE ABS TO ENGAGE, BUT COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO, AND COULD ONLY OFFER A $2000 "FIX" THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE. I DID NOT TAKE THEM UP ON THEIR OFFER, AND THEY DID NOT BELIEVE CHANGING THE MASTER CYLINDER WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM COULD OCCUR AGAIN ANY TIME THE ABS IS ACTIVATED. *TR

THE CHROME PLASTIC OF THE HANDLE IS NICE, BUT CLEARLY A METAL COMPOSITION SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED IN THE DESIGN INSTEAD OF PLASTIC, AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE WEB APPEARS TO BE SEVERAL CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. PART PRICES RANGE FROM $70.00 - $192.00 DEPENDING ON THE SELLER / BUSINESS, SUCH AND ISSUE THAT EVEN THE CHINESE ARE MAKING MONEY BY MANUFACTURING THE PART. AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STARTED COMING ON AND GOING OFF. AFTER A WEEK IT STARTED STAYING ON AFTER STARTING UP THE CAR AND IT DOES NOT GO OFF. NEXT THE SEAT BELT LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER YOU HAVE LOCKED IN YOUR SEATBELT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND NO ONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. *TR

2008 FORD FUSION SE - LOSES BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE UNDER EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES. AFTER HITTING BUMPS, POT HOLES, SLICK ROADS OR OTHER ABS EVENTS, THE PEDAL WOULD GO SOFT. IT COULD BE PUMPED BACK UP, BUT WOULD GO SOFT AGAIN OVER TIME OR AFTER ANOTHER ABS EVENT. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER FOR OIL CHANGES AND THEY SAID IT WAS MY BRAKES. I REPLACED THE PADS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. I THEN TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. AFTER REPLACEMENT THE BRAKES HAVE WORKED FINE. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CARS IN FRONT OF MY SUDDENLY SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. THE ABS KICKED IN AND IT SEEMED TO TAKE A LONG TIME TO STOP. I STARTED GIVING EVEN LONGER DISTANCES AND HAD PROBLEMS DRIVING OUR OTHER CARS BECAUSE I'D OVER BRAKE WHEN STOPPING IN THEM. *TR
AFTER I PURCHASE MY VEHICLE ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS AGO I CONTACTED MY DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES IN THE PAST AND I LET THEM KNOW IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING PROPERLY AND I WAS TOLD THAT'S JUST HOW FORD'S DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN ON LINE AND OTHER FUSION OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE CONTACTED FORD AS I HAVE AND FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THAT, IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT, AND THE BATTERY CABLE GOT CUT SO THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE VEHICLE, I WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB OVER THE CENTER COUNSEL TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE PASSENGER DOOR IF IT DIDN'T BECOME INOPERABLE IN THE ACCIDENT. I WOULD ASSUME THAT THIS PROBLEM COULD ALSO OCCUR WITH THE PASSENGER DOOR AS WELL SO I'M NOT FEELING ALL THAT SAFE AT THE MOMENT. (PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM A FORMER FACTORY-CERTIFIED AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN, SO DESCRIPTION MAY BE TECHNICAL) WHEN APPROACHING A STOP, SMALL IMPERFECTIONS IN ROAD OR SLIPPERY CONDITIONS RESULTS IN AN ABS EVENT, WHICH IS NORMAL (ALTHOUGH I WOULD ARGUE SENSORS ARE OVERLY SENSITIVE AND CAUSE ABS TO ENGAGE TOO QUICKLY). HOWEVER, AFTER THE ABS EVENT IS OVER, THE PEDAL WILL OFTEN DROP TO FLOOR ON THE NEXT ATTEMPT AT BRAKING. WHILE NOW AWARE OF IT, THE FIRST SEVERAL TIMES THIS HAPPENED IT WAS UNEXPECTED AND I NEARLY EITHER ROLLED THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. AFTER VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME (TYPICALLY 30 MINUTES OR MORE), PEDAL WOULD RETURN TO NORMAL. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSED TO WHERE THE PEDAL NOW WILL NEVER RETURN TO FULL FIRMNESS. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND TESTING, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE ISSUE IS A MALFUNCTIONING HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (A PART THAT SHOULD EASILY LAST THE LIFETIME OF A VEHICLE). DUE TO THE SYMPTOMS, MANY HAVE MISTAKENLY TRIED REPLACING BRAKE BOOSTERS AND MASTER CYLINDERS, ONLY TO FIND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. MY VEHICLE AT THE TIME HAD 91,602 MILES ON IT AND TODAY HAS JUST OVER 107,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING THROUGH TOWN WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 30 AND HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE. THE SIDE WALL OF THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY PULL TO THE LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, LOST CONTROL, AND SMASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE FENDER AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE INTO A CURB THUS TOTALING MY CAR AND PROBABLY THE OTHER VEHICLE AS WELL AT NOON TODAY JULY 30, 2014. THE POLICE REPORT REFLECTS MECHANICAL FAILURE AS THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT AND I HAVE WITNESS STATEMENTS FROM A COUPLE THAT WERE TRAVELING BEHIND MY VEHICLE THAT THEY, TOO, HEARD A LOUD POP JUST PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED DISCOUNT TIRE AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IN THE WHEEL, TIRE, AND PICTURES AND THEY WOULD FORWARD MY INFORMATION TO NITTO SO THAT THEY CAN START A CLAIM. NITTO DID NOT ANSWER THEREFORE I WAS GIVEN THE PHONE NUMBER AND I WILL TRY TO CONTACT THEM TOMORROW. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MY CONSUMER RIGHTS ARE AS FAR AS GETTING THE COST OF MY VEHICLE, THE OTHER VEHICLE, MEDICAL BILLS, TOWING COSTS, AND TIME LOSS AND SUFFERING PAID. I BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2011 AND IN 2014 I STARTED HAVING ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES GIVING OUT WHEN I WOULD BRAKE AND HIT BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I GOT ONLINE AND READ CONSUMER REVIEWS AND REALIZED THIS WAS COMMON IN MY MAKE/MODEL/YEAR OF CAR. I SPEND OVER $1,000 TO HAVE THE CALIPERS REPLACED AND TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR WHILE THE WORK WAS BEING DONE. SINCE THEN I HAVE ADJUSTED MY DRIVING STYLE SO AS NOT TO TRIGGER MY BRAKES GIVING OUT. HOWEVER, THIS WINTER I HIT A BUMP WHILE BRAKING SO AS NOT TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND MY BRAKES GAVE OUT AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED BY PUSHING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, BUT THOSE EXTRA SECONDS TO GET THE CAR STOPPED AND MY PANIC WHEN THE CAR WOULDN'T BRAKE WAS TERRIFYING. IT'S WEIRD BECAUSE THEN AFTER A FEW DAYS IT WAS LIKE MY BRAKES CAME BACK TO NORMAL, BUT IT WAS ABOUT A WEEK OF BEING VERY CAREFUL WITH MY BRAKES BEFORE THEY RETURNED TO NORMAL.
