POWER STEERING FAULT INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE STEERING WAS INOPERATIVE. SHUT THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND THE PROBLEM CLEARED.
PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED FROM A LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DAY AFTER I GOT IT HOME (APRIL 22, 2019) I RECEIVED A DASH WARNING OF "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" UPON STARTING. THE STEERING WAS STIFF, AS IS TYPICAL WITH A LOSS OF POWER STEERING, BUT THE WARNING WENT AWAY UPON RESTART. THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY ONCE A MONTH UNTIL OCTOBER 25, 2019, WHEN I RECEIVED THE WARNING WHILE DRIVING AND EXPERIENCED A DANGEROUS LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I MANAGED TO LIMP MY CAR HOME SAFELY. THE WARNING HAS SINCE NOT GONE AWAY AND THE VEHICLE IS PRETTY MUCH RENDERED USELESS IN TERMS OF DRIVING IT SAFELY. I KNOW THAT OTHER FORD FUSIONS IN VARYING YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS YEAR NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AGAIN. THERE ARE COUNTLESS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS RELATING TO 2010 FUSIONS ONLINE, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK FOR THEM.
WELL I GET OUT THIS MORNING TO TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL WHEN I CRANK THE CAR AND WE START RIDING THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT CAME ON IN BLANK THEN THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. SO AFTER I DROP THEM OFF I WAS ON MY WAY HOME THE LIGHT CONTINUE TO BLINK AS I PULLED UP IN MY DRIVEWAY THE STEERING WHEEL START TO GET HARD TO STEER SO I'LL PARK GOT OUT WELL SO I'LL PART POP THE HOOD GOT OUT AND CHECK FOR POWER STEERING ON TO REALIZE THAT IS NOT ONE BECAUSE IT'S ELECTRIC. SO WHEN I LOOK ONLINE TO MY SURPRISE EVERYBODY WITH A FORD FUSION IS HAVING THE SAME AS A PROBLEM DIFFERENT YEAR DIFFERENT ENGINE SIZE BUT SAME PROBLEM NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A SOLUTION BECAUSE IT'S MANY THINGS THAT CAN CAUSE THE PROBLEM IS VERY STRESSFUL I THINK Y'ALL SHOULD HAVE THAT ON RECALL TO HELP BETTER ASSIST PEOPLE WITH THE PROBLEMS. UNFORTUNATELY I HATE THE FACT THAT MY MY WARRANTY IS UP AS FATHER WITH A FAMILY OF FIVE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO AFFORD TO PAY FOR TO GET IT FIXED.
ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THIS MORNING DONT KNOW WHY CAR DOESN'T TAKE POWER STEERING FLUID THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE 2015 WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED IT.
MY 2010 FORD FUSION STEERING KEEPS LOCKING UP WITH A STEERING ASSIST FAULT CODE. IT HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES WETHER AT SLOW SPEEDS OR HIGH SPEEDS. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS VEHICLE AND IT'S VERY SCARY TO THINK SHE WILL LOSE CONTROL OF A MOVING VEHICLE PUTTING HER IN DANGER AND OTHERS AROUND HER. I'VE NOTICED THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS BUT FORD REFUSES TO RECALL THE 2010 YEAR. THEY HAVE RECALLED OTHER YEARS FOR THIS PROBLEM. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CODE CAME ON. THE CAR WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED
ABS CONTROL MODULE MALFUNCTION. MAKES BRAKE PEDAL EXTRA SPONGY AND HARD TO BRAKE
REPLACED RECALLED AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK PER DEALER DUE TO DEFECT DURING RECALLED AIRBAG INSTALLING. NEW AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT DRIVER DOOR HANDLE CAN ONLY BE OPENED IF WINDOW IS LEFT DOWN AND DOOR HANDLE IS PULLED FROM THE OUTSIDE
ANTI LOCK BRAKE PUMP FAILURE. BRAKES FAILED, WENT TO FLOOR, ALMOST CRASHED CAR. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE, COMMON PROBLEM AND SAFETY ISSUE FORD SHOULD FIX.
I WOULD TURN THE CAR ON AND ON MY DASH IT WOULD SAY POWER STEERING SENSOR FAULT. PLUS IT WOULD BE HARD TO STEER WHEN DRIVING SOMETIMES. THEN AT TIMES WHEN I WOULD TURN OFF THE CAR IT WOULD BE NORMAL DRIVING. FOR ABOUT THE LAST WEEK AND HALF IT WOULD THEN THROW ANOTHER CODE. SERVICE ADVANCE TRACTION CONTROL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A GARAGE CALLED AAMCO. 2006 WYOMING AVE IN WYOMING PA. 18644 SPOKE TO A TECHNICIAN NAMED [XXX]. DIDN'T CAUSE PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE 2010 WASN'T ON THE RECALL LIST. IM ONLY AVAILABLE AFTER 4PM M-F. MY MOM CAN HELP YOU IF I'M AT WORK. HER NAME IS [XXX]. POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING (CITY STREETS, WHILE TURNING). PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED AND WORKED A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES IN THE SPAN OF 3 WEEKS. NOW, COMPLETE FAILURE AND NONE OF THIS WORKS. NO FLUID LOSS EXPERIENCED. NO WHINING OR GRINDING NOISES EXPERIENCED. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT IN DASH READOUT.
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED A CHIME WENT OFF AND I LOST THE POWER STEERING. THE CONTROL PANEL SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST. I WAS ABLE TO SAFETY PULL OVER AND GET HOME. IT HAPPENS OFF AND ON AND WHEN I TOOK IN FOR SERVICE NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR
THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL 9/7/2010-2/28/2012 MANUFACTURED FORD FUSIONS. WHICH IS FOR SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. MY CAR WAS PARKED AND WHEN STARTING VEHICLE THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST' MESSAGE CAME ON, I ATTEMPTED TO TURN VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART WITH NO CHANGE. VEHICLE HAS ABSOLUTELY NO POWER STEERING, CAN'T STEER, THERE IS NO FUNCTIONALITY OF ANY POWER WHATSOEVER. DUE TO THE FACT MY CAR'S MANUFACTURING DATE IS 3/2010 IT DOESN'T FALL INTO THE RECALL PARAMETERS, BUT HOWEVER IT IS EXHIBITING THE SAME EXACT ISSUES NOTATED IN THAT RECALL.
IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL CAR DASHBOARD SHOWS 'STOP SAFELY NOW' LOOSE ACCELERATION. TURN CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND CAN DRIVE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. TOLD VACUUM PUMP CREATING ISSUE. REPLACED AND CAR OKAY. WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY DURING ACCELERATION 'STOP SAFELY NOW' ENTIRE CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. LOSS OF BRAKES, STEERING, ACCELERATION. GET CAR TOWED BACK TO SHOP AND TOLD ACID LEAK DEGRADED WIRE HARNESS. BUT ALSO TOLD THEY CAN'T ENSURE THE CAR WILL BE FIXED FROM REPAIRING. HOW DOES A BATTERY LEAK SO BAD WITHOUT ANY CRACKS. NO SHOP CAN CONFIRM THE ACID LEAK IS CAUSING THE BRAKE ISSUE. POSSIBLE ABS MODULE, ELECTRONIC CONTROL, O2 SENSOR REPLACEMENT TOO.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. DOOR WILL UNLOCK AND DOOR HANDLE CAN BE PULLED BUT DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE MECHANISM THAT OPENS THE DOOR. NEED TO USE A PASSENGER DOOR OR ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO OPEN FROM OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE.
THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP FOR COMPLAINT NHTSA ID NUMBER: 11268899. AT THIS POINT THE POWER STEERING ISSUE IS CONSTANT. RESTARTING THE CAR DOESN'T MAKE THE ISSUE GO AWAY. THE CAR IS NOW NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
The transmission has a steady leak and has shifting problems with jerking and revving without moving. When going from reverse to drive it will not move immediately and when it does catch it shifts very hard.
UPON STARTING MY CAR, I'M GETTING A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE AND CANNOT TURN THE WHEEL. ONCE I RESTART MY CAR, THE MESSAGE GOES AWAY AND I'M ABLE TO STEER. I'M AFRAID IT COULD REOCCUR WHEN DRIVING OR NEVER GO AWAY AFTER A RESTART.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED. WE WERE IN A STORE PARKING LOT AND GOING SLOW OUT OF A PARKING SPOT SO THERE WAS NO DAMAGE. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE ROAD DOING 35 MPH THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFERENT. .
OVER THE PAST YEAR THE POWER STEERING HAS STOPPED WORKING SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NEVER WHILE IN MOTION. ALWAYS WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED. SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THIS PAST WEEK, HOWEVER, IT WENT OUT AND HAS NOT COME BACK ON.
2010 FORD FUSION ELECTRIC STARING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. THEY RECALLED 2011 TO 2014 THE FIRST YEAR I CAME OUT WAS 2010. FORD IS NOT HELPING WITH THIS ISSUE.
MY 2010 FORD FUSION HAD THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, AND THEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND EVEN THOUGH MY CAR HAS TWO OPEN RECALLS FOR AIRBAGS AND FUEL TANK, ALONG WITH AN EXTENDED ONE ON MY THROTTLE BODY, THEY CAN'T GET MY CAR IN UNTIL NEXT MONTH. I'VE TRIED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY TERMINALS, AND REPLACED THE BATTERY IN HOPES THAT IT WOULD RESET THE COMPUTER AS THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE A POWER STEERING PUMP AND IS CONTROLLED BY A COMPUTER CHIP.
WHILE BRAKING AT ANY TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL FALLS TO THE FLOOR AND HAS TO BE PUMPED. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED MANY ACCIDENTS FOR ME. OTHER 2010 FUSIONS HAVE BEEN RECALLED WHY NOT MINE?
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, IF I ENCOUNTER A SITUATION THAT WOULD ENGAGE ABS, INSTEAD OF ABS TURNING ON, THE BRAKE SUDDENLY TRAVELS TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. PRIVATE MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. FORD DEALER SERVICE BLEED THE LINES AND COULD NOT GUARANTEE PROBLEM WAS ELIMINATED. NO CODES ARE PRODUCED.
AFTER PUMPING GAS IN THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN ON. THE ENGINE CHOKES AND TURNS DIRECTLY TO BATTERY MODE. YOU MUST FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL 3 TO 4 DIFFERENT TIMES IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. MUST SIT AND WAIT ABOUT 5 MINUTES FOR THE IDLEING TO STOP BEFORE PUTTING CAR INTO DRIVE MODE.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES. THE WARNING SHOWED WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. THE CAR WAS THANKFULLY NOT IN MOTION. THE FIRST TIME APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS AGO I CLEANED OFF THE BATTERY CABLE PER A GOOGLE SEARCH AND THE POWER STEERING WAS OK THE NEXT TIME I STARTED THE CAR. CLEANING THE CABLES WAS PROBABLY NOT REALLY A FIX - JUST A COINCIDENCE. A MONTH AND A HALF AGO IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I STARTED THE CAR AND GOT THE WARNING AND NO POWER STEERING. I TRIED AGAIN A FEW HOURS LATER AND EVERYTHING WAS OK. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD UNLESS THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED A WEEK AND A HALF AGO. THIS TIME THE WARNING CAME ON AND REMAINED ON. THE CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT I DO NOT HAVE AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR AT THIS TIME. MY 2010 FORD FUSION ONLY HAS 37,000 MILES ON IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS INSPECTED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE PROVIDE A CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 175,000.
WHILE IN MOTION POWER STEERING MESSAGE APPEAR ON DASHBOARD, AND STEERING HAS HARD. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE STEERING AND PINION. BUT WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER AND STEERING WAS WORKING. ISSUE CAME BACK A WEEK LATER AND I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC THAT STATED THAT THE DEALER PROBABLY RESET THE CODES OR COMPUTER. HE CHECK THE STEERING AND CABLING AND FOUND NO ISSUE. HE RESET THE COMPUTER CODE AND THE ISSUE WENT AWAY. TWO WEEKS LATER AFTER MY TIRE BECAME LOW THE SAME ISSUE HAPPEN. IT SEEMS THAT THE STEERING KEEPS ERRORING OUT OR GETTING SOME TYPE OF MESSAGE CAUSING IT TO SHUTDOWN UNTIL THE CODE IS RESET.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT GOES ON SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK AND IS ACCOMPANIED BY A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. IN FACT, MY STEERING TIGHTENS UP SO MUCH THAT I DON'T THINK I COULD DRIVE THE CAR. SO FAR, THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR. THE STEERING RETURNS TO NORMAL IF I TURN THE CAR OFF, MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE SHARPLY AND THEN TURN THE CAR ON AGAIN. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE POWER STEERING TO WORK WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING BY JUST ABRUPTLY TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TO ONE SIDE. I SAW THAT SOME HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME, BUT I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT I WOULD DO IF IT DID. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE ERROR MESSAGE ON MY CELL PHONE THAT I TOOK ON OCTOBER 6, 2019. MY CAR HAD 129,839 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. RESEARCH TELLS ME THAT THIS REPAIR WILL COST $1440 OR SO, WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNAFFORDABLE FOR ME. WHY IS THIS NOT RECALLED WHEN IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING SO OFTEN? MY FRIENDS DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH MY ANYMORE AND REFUSE TO RIDE WITH ME. I LOVED THIS VEHICLE, BUT I AM BEGINNING TO RUE THE DAY THAT I PURCHASED IT. I JUST PUT IN $445.00 REPAIRING SOME OXYGEN ISSUE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE BLINKER, AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID LINES. I WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $499.00 TO REPLACE MY FRONT PASSENGER HEAD LIGHT UNIT BECAUSE IT GETS CONDENSATION IN IT AND THEY CAN'T JUST REPLACE A SEAL. HOWEVER, NONE OF THESE IS THE SAFETY ISSUE THAT I FEEL THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT WOULD BE. I FEEL FORD SHOULD DEFINITELY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING/REPAIRING THIS AS SO MANY HAVE COMPLAINED AND THE LEVEL OF SAFETY COULD BE COMPARED TO THE AIR BAG RECALL. I HAD TO PICK ONE DATE BELOW AS TO WHEN IT HAPPENED SO I PUT THE DATE I TOOK THE PICTURE. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS, THOUGH.
BOUGHT USED FORD FUSION ON 9/16/19 FROM FRED BEAN CADILLAC- BUICK IN DOYALSTOWN PA. AFTER ABOUT DRIVING IT FOR 950 MILES ON 10/04/19 AN YELLOW WRENCH ICON APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD AND THE CAR SEEMED TO LOSE POWER. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF, ONCE THE CAR WAS RESTARTED THE WRENCH ICON DISAPPEARED. MADE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM AT 7:30AM ON 10/05/19 TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT. WAS TOLD NO ERROR CODE WAS FOUND, BUT LATER THAT SAME DAY WHILE DRIVING HOME AROUND 2:00PM THE WRENCH ICON REAPPEARED AND THE LOSS OF POWER HAPPENED TURNING OFF FROM RT 332 (YARDLEY-NEWTON RD SPEED 55MPH) ON TO STONY HILL RD SPEED 40MPH. ONCE I GO TO A RED LIGHT AT STONY HILL AND YARDLEY LANGHORNE RD INTERSECTION I TURNED CAR OFF, THEN RESTARTED CAR AND WRENCH ICON DISAPPEARED.
YESTERDAY WHEN COMING HOME FROM PICKING UP MY GRANDDAUGHTER I WAS TURNING INTO MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE STEERING SEEMED TO LOCK UP. I LIVE NEAR THE WATER AND THERE'S WATER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD TURNING ONTO MY STREET. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO KEEP FROM GOING INTO THE WATER. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT THERE'S NO RECALL OR WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE POWER STEERING. MY REPAIR ESTIMATE IS $2200 AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR IT. I'VE ALMOST GOT THIS CAR PAID OFF AND NOW THIS. WE ARE ALL SCARED FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER TO RIDE IN MY CAR NOW AND THERE'S NOTHING I CAN DO BUT DRIVE IT LIKE IT IS. IS THERE ANY HOPE FOR HELP? THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ROWE FORD AUBURN (LOCATED AT 699 CENTER ST, AUBURN, ME 04210, (207) 784-2321) WAS CALLED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
THE POWER-ASSISTED STEERING FAIL WHILE DRIVING MAKING THE VEHICLES HARDER TO CONTROL AND ALMOST CRASH
CAR NO LONGER CONVERTING TO ELECTRIC VEHICLE AS IT USED TO UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. ONLY TIME IT SWITCHES TO ELECTRIC VEHICLE IS WHEN BRAKE IS DEPRESSED, COASTING DOWN HILL OR AT A STOP. DEALER HAS RUN FORD DIAGNOSTICS AND HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG. THE SAME ISSUE IS BEING REPORTED ON VARIOUS WEBSITES.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER STEERING WHEEL REPAIR PROGRAM DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S MILEAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.

WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, THE RPMS INCREASED, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SWITCH GEARS SMOOTHLY LIKE IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ONLY PRINTED OUT THE RECALL INFORMATION. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING WITHIN SECONDS OF WARNING ON DASHBOARD. EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE NOT CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR DEATH. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN INTO A PARKING LOT WITH EXTREME DIFFICULTY AND TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. VERIFIED AS INTERNAL RACK FAILURE. ENTIRE UNIT WAS REPLACED. AFTER RESEARCH SHOWING THOUSANDS OF FAILURES FOR THIS PART THIS SHOULD BE SAFETY RECALL BEFORE SOME ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT APPEARED. CAR EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HERSELF AND HER YOUNGER BROTHER TO SCHOOL ON A CITY STREET.
STARTED THE VEHICLE AND RECEIVED "POWER STEERING FAULT". THERE IS NO POWER STEERING NOW THIS WAS PART OF A RECALL BUT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, WHY IS THIS?
INTERMITTENTLY MY BRAKES WILL GO OUT, MOST OFTEN THIS HAPPENS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN OFF AND I TURN IT OFF AND TRY TO REVERSE THOUGH IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN IN DRIVE. IT HAS HAPPENS ON ACCESS ROADS, THE HIGHWAY, MY DRIVEWAY AND MOST OFTEN IN PARKING LOTS. MY CAR WILL ROLL AND BE COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE TO THE FACT THAT I HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES SOFT AND I CAN PRESS IT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. MY BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, ETC ON THE DASHBOARD ALL LIGHT UP AND MY CAR KEEPS ROLLING. I TRY TURNING MY VEHICLE ON AND OFF AS SOMETIMES EVEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKE OR PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK WILL NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I HAVE ALMOST HIT OTHER CARS AND PEDESTRIANS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND IT IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS AND COME TO FIND OUT A KNOWN GLITCH FOR SOME 2010 FORD FUSIONS.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING 3 MONTHS AGO, HAD IT REPLACED AT A HEFTY PRICE. THIS MORNING AS I'M DRIVING KIDS TO SCHOOL THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AGAIN!!! NOW MY CAR IS STUCK BY THE ROAD IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE BC I CAN'T TURN THE WHEEL TO GET INTO THE DRIVEWAY. THIS IS BEYOND RIDICULOUS! WISH I HAD KNOWN WHAT A POS CAR THIS WAS BEFORE I BOUGHT IT.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 75 MPH THE CAR'S POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL THE CAR. IT WAS A NEAR MISS AVOIDING A COLLUSION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. CARS WARNING SYSTEM SAYS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT.
WE HAD DRIVEN TO A FOOTBALL GAME, WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE CAR IT WOULD NOT START. ALL THE LIGHTS WORKED, IT TURNED OVER PERFECTLY EVERY TIME, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. HAD IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC IN THE MORNING AND IT STARTED FOR THEM. HOWEVER, AFTER MULTIPLE TEST THEY WERE ABLE TO GET IT TO STOP STARTING. CHECKED THE CODES AND IT SAID O2 SENSOR. REPLACED O2 SENSOR. CAR DIED ON MY WAY HOME FROM THE MECHANIC WHILE PULLING OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM A STOP SIGN WHERE VEHICLES ARE TRAVELING 60MPH WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. TERRIFYING! I BARELY CHUGGED ACROSS THE LANES AND GOT THE NOSE OF MY CAR ON THE SHOULDER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND AFTER A FEW TRIES IT RESTARTED. WHEN I GOT HOME, I TOOK THE BATTERY CABLES OFF THE BATTERY FOR THE WEEKEND AS I READ THAT COULD HELP THE FAULTY COMPUTER ISSUE. SO FAR, I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE AGAIN. A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THIS, I NOTICED THAT AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS SPEEDING UP AND SLOWING DOWN REALLY FAST LIKE PULSING.
POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT. I SAW THAT THERE ARE OVER 900 OTHER REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME CAR. I'M HOPING THIS WAS REVEALED AND THAT FOR DINNER HAS TO FIX IT FOR ME
THERE IS A MASS PROBLEM WITH FUSIONS AND THE AC. FORD DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THE FIX IS, THE DEALERS DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FIX IS. THEY JUST KEEP REPLACING STUFF. THE PROBLEM IS THE AC BLOWS COLD..THEN STOPS AND BLOWS HOT. FREON IS FULL, COMPRESSOR WORKS FINE, NO LEAKS, NO CODES REPORTED WHEN CODES ARE READ. THIS GUY ON YOUTUBE HAS DOCUMENTED THE PROBLEM AND A WORK AROUND HE FOUND. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A WORK AROUND AND FORD SHOULD GET TO THE BOTTOM OF WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM AND STOP CHARGING PEOPLE FOR UNNECESSARY REPAIRS THAT DON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. MY DEALER HAD MY CAR FOR 3 DAYS TESTED EVERYTHING, COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS GAVE MY CAR A GREEN BILL OF HEALTH..DROVE OFF THE LOT AFTER THE GREEN BILL OF HEALTH ON A HOT DAY. AC STOPPED WORKING ON THE WAY HOME WITH EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS I TOOK IT IN FOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 283,000.
