abs brake system service and advance tract system fault codes/ sign shown on the dash. i was driving 40 mph at the brake peddle had no fed back or pressure and the peddle went to the floor i had to use low gear and E-brake to stop. the vehicle is currently in the auto shop waiting to be worked on.
On [XXX] my car exhibited a problem where the brake pedal was mushy and had to be pushed half way down to stop the vehicle. It felt very unsafe as it happened suddenly and stayed like that. Since I felt unsafe, I took it to my nearest mechanic local shop. He told me that it can be a Master Cylinder issue first and then the HCL. I looked online and found an old recall on Ford fusions 2006-2010 model with recall number 19S54 (DOT Brake Fluid and Anti-Lock Brake System Function). I checked my VIN and there was no recall for my vehicle. It was strange since my vehicle build day was very close to the date mentioned on the recall. On 12/4/2024 at 7:45 AM PST (10:45 EST), I called Ford Dealer (Colley Ford Service) and described the issue and told them about the recall. They did some research and told me my vehicle is NOT covered. On 12/4/2024 at 8:00 and 8:30 AM PST (11:30 EST), I called the customer relations at Ford. They provided the same response and told me that no recall is on my vehicle based on my VIN. That was a bit frustrating given that my vehicle was showing very similar issue and as safety concern. I also discussed this recall with my mechanic. I told my mechanic to go ahead with the repairs he believes is appropriate for my car to ensure my safety. My mechanic inspected it and told me that its either a Master Cylinder problem or the Hydraulic Brake Control Unit (HCU) or both. He first changed the Master Cylinder and flushed Brakes with DOT 4 Ford recommended. That did not fix the issue. Next, he changed the HCU and that fixed the problem. To me, this indicates that with high probability, my vehicle exhibited same problem as what it was shown within the recall notice. I need this to be investigated and I need Ford to be accountable for this issue and pay for my repair expenses as my car has a very close build date and is from the same plant and is a Fusion. I have uploaded a picture of the bill I paid the recall sample. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The power steering stop working some lights came on when i was driving, i had Service Advancetrack and service powe steering on my screen then i wasn’t able to turn the wheels they became really hard.
Power steering failure along with advanced track faulty. Occurred during mid-drive.
The contact's son owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact stated that the brakes became inoperable. Additionally, the tire pressure warning light was illuminated. The brakes were replaced by the contact’s brother, who is an independent mechanic and had determined that there was air trapped in the brake lines and the brake lines needed bleeding. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and attempting to turn the steering wheel to the left or the right and while driving straight, the steering wheel was sticking as if the power steering functionality had failed. The failure occurred mostly after the vehicle had been idle. The contact had to use excessive strength to manipulate the steering wheel until the steering wheel loosened and could be steered as needed. The contact researched and learned that it was a common failure with the steering rack. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact of the cost of replacing the steering rack. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer had referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 164,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. While the contact’s wife was driving approximately 30 MPH, the steering wheel was not responding to the steering adjustments to the left or the right. The contact’s stated that the "Power Steering Fault" warning light was illuminated. The contact’s wife stopped, and turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the power steering functionality then resumed normal functionality. The contact stated that failure had reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle had not been taken to a dealer or to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 218,000.
Brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. Very soft. Needs new abs module but this vin is not affected by the recall. Should be included. I have another 2010 fusion that had the same issue and ford fixed it with the recall. Recall needs to be expanded
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the messages "Tract Off" and "Service Power Steering" were displayed, and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (STEERING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 160,000.
The throttle body failed. It is not available for inspection because it was replaced. While driving on a high-speed road, the engine felt like it shuddered, and the car lost engine power and would no longer accelerate. At the same time, the light shaped like a wrench came on. Our safety was therefore put at risk because we could now barely accelerate, and could easily have been rear-ended. The problem was confirmed and repaired by an independent service center. After doing the repair, the service center informed us that there was a Ford Customer Satisfaction Service Bulletin (13NO3) for this problem. We called Ford about this bulletin and were told that the Bulletin was limited to ten years or 150,000 miles, whichever came first. Even though our car is over ten years old, it only has 87,000 miles on it.
I financed a vehicle from Recovery auto in independence Missouri in doing so u mentioned to them I’d be driving to Texas and asked them if the vehicle could make the drive and the responded yes but at no time did the mention there was an active recall on the vehicle I ended up breaking and in calling them they were also surprised when they saw the recall from 2015 in the vehicle and that is the first time it was mentioned to me after being 3 hours away in a different state
Electronic throttle body failure My car lost power going 50 mph in road construction The car had a recall and extended warranty on it from 2014-2024, i was not notified Check engine light, drive shaft light, and service advance trac appeared a few weeks before the failure
Electronic Throttle Body Car lost power on busy, construction road Manufacturer issued secret warranty to owners and did not send out notice Multiple certified mechanics have inspected the vehicle Check engine, ABS, service advance trac, and power train lights were on and i am uncertain when they first came on
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after turning the vehicle off and exiting the vehicle the contact heard air seeping and leaking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the canister purge valve. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a short time later upon approaching the vehicle the contact observed gasoline pooling underneath the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who then determined that the excessive pressure resulting from the failure of the canister purge valve caused the fuel tank to develop a crack that was then leaking gasoline. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V793000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 170,000.
Under normal driving conditions, I have experienced extended brake pedal travel while braking, accompanied by the activation of the ABS, brake, and traction control warning lights. This issue has recurred multiple times over the past year while driving at speeds up to 65 mph, typically lasting for several days until the warning lights reset and hydraulic/regenerative braking is restored. The failure of the hydraulic braking system poses a significant threat not only to my safety but also to the safety of everyone on the road. Without reliable brakes, the ability to stop effectively is compromised, increasing the risk of accidents and endangering both myself and others nearby. Most recently, this problem persisted for over two weeks. The vehicle was inspected at a Ford dealership, which determined that the ABS module had failed and required replacement. The vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. This failure of the ABS module could be linked to the same issue previously recalled in the gas model of the Ford Fusion (Ford Motor Company Recall No. 19S54), where the DOT3 brake fluid causes a normally closed valve to remain stuck open in the brake system’s hydraulic control unit (HCU). Alarmingly, the Ford Fusion hybrid model was excluded from this recall, despite exhibiting the same dangerous braking issues. In November 2018, the NHTSA recommended a safety recall for this concern due to its serious nature. Ford’s "Customer Satisfaction Program 21N11" acknowledges the gravity of the situation but excludes hybrid models, placing the financial burden of essential repairs on owners. I urge the NHTSA to take immediate action to address this safety issue for all affected vehicles, including the Ford Fusion hybrid, and implement a recall to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost power steering functionality, and the steering became stiff and was difficult to turn. The Electronic Power Steering (EPS) warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the power steering was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure had occurred three times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
When braking, if the ABS is triggered, the brake pedal begins traveling almost to the floor with significantly less braking ability. This seems to align with a known issue (ABS Valve Malfunctions and Stays Open) that has already been recalled in other models.
It is showing power steering service now and it does not go away and is difficult to steer the vehicle.
The contact's daughter owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while parking the vehicle, the wheel locked in place, and the vehicle failed to steer as intended. The vehicle was turned off. A short time later, the vehicle was restarted, and the ABS and service track control warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was put in reverse(R) when the contact observed the steering wheel was stiff and did not steer as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
The vehicle lost power steering. Restarting vehicle shows a "power steering assist fault" message. Looking into this fault, I found Safety Recall 15S18, for later year vehicles. This seems to be what I experienced. I have not had it towed to a dealer for diagnosis or repair yet, as the cost for repair seems to exceed the value of the car.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while in the driveway, the power steering warning light illuminated, and the service power steering message was displayed. The contact stated that the steering functionality became inoperable. The vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the control arm and steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the control arm needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance and was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
I am experiencing long brake pedal travel similar to recall 19S54, yet my car has not been recalled.
While driving, I suddenly loss control of power steering, making the control of the vehicle impossible. The electric power assist warning light came on. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM with FORD'S TRW MADE EPAS power assisted steering unit. There have already been recalls for 2011,2012 and other years. Why not for 2010?
Loss of power steering; and is available for inspection. Stopped working mid drive; confirmed with code U3000. Not inspected by Ford nor will dealership fix because of no recall. While driving dashboard gave service Advance Trac . The same issue the 2011 and 2012 Fusions had a recall for but the 2010 have the same issue and Ford wont recall. (Found that a fault in the programing caused a false negative shutting off power steering) 1579 complaints but Ford wont recall 2010's. Customers have had steering rack replaced only for the issue to come back; Ford discovered a flaw in the programing. Ive had the codes cleared and it drives fine for 160 or so miles then fails (3times). 2011/2012 recall had the new program uploaded to correct issue ;why not 2010? 2010 has same exact issue even the miles at (total) when failure happens is in line with 2011/2012
Cylinder two the brass fitting came out of the transmission, no power when trying to accelerate, for whatever reason the front driver wheel rubs and messes up the tires, the pcm will throw a wrench symbol from time to time.
Driving on the highway in the fast lane, vehicle suddenly lost all power. A message on the car said “ pull over safely “. No prior warning of anything wrong with the vehicle. I managed to dodge traffic with my hazard lights on and came to a stop on the side of the highway. I inspected the car with no signs of anything wrong. I shut down the car and restarted. Everything came back on and was drivable. This caused me to look online, only to discover that other people are having the same problem as I have described. TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. This is a very dangerous situation to be in, not able to keep moving on a very busy highway.
The steering rack and pinion has failed the message Service power steering now has accumulated it wasn’t there before I’ve had the car for a lil over a year and have had no problems the other day I pulled in at a gas station and lost all control to steering my vehicle
I left my driveway and all of a sudden my abs light came on , I can't remember what it said like and system fault.i pulled over stopped turned car off and back on light hasn't come on since. Then weeks later I was driving and had to brake suddenly to avoid an accident and my breaks gave way. I tried pumping them but they went to the floor and stopping took longer. I pulled into a parking lot stopped.i put it in park, shit off then on they worked fine. But Everytime I apply my brakes when going over bumpy rail road crossings my breaks go to the floor and I can barely stop. Even severe bumps in road when I try to stop causes it.it happens Everytime I go over tracks since the first incident to the point I'm now scared of them.I had a mechanic look at it he said my fluid wasn't low, checked the lines n hoses no leaks. He said fluid was a bit odd in color. He then bled my brakes and replaced fluid.they seemed okay then for 2 months everything was fine til I went over railroad tracks and brakes went soft again. Now they feel softer then before at normal stops but no lights and no abs warning light has come on. He is stumped. I bought this car in 2013 but never did receive a recall notice in 2019 for the brakes or hydraulic.i think my car should be included if that is the problem.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel did not function as intended. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a failed electronic steering gear and failed rack and pinion assembly. The contact was informed that the electronic steering gear and the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was informed of an unknown recall; however, the contact's VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 128,440.
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) malfunctioned causing the brakes to give out while I was driving the vehicle. Luckily I was on a residential street and I was able to safely pull over, but it could have caused a major accident had it not happened in that location. After taking it to two auto-shops, both concluded that it was a problem with the ABS system. There is an open recall for the 2010 Ford Fusion for the same exact issue (Recall number: 19S54), however it does not cover the Hybrid model, even though it is the same exact issue. In order to stop the vehicle, I need to press down on the brake pedal very very hard and use the emergency brake. It is not safe to drive, and it is a substantial and costly problem with the vehicle to repair. I would like my car to be part of that recall program, or at least be able to be recalled for this issue in which there is already an open recall, except not for my specific variety of the 2010 Ford Fusion. I have had to get my car towed several times in order to transport it, as again, it is not safe to drive!
The Power steering pump is electrical which makes it more expensive and a higher chance of being at risk on the road because the steering wheel can stop working while you’re driving!!! It costs over $2,000 to fix and instead of having a recall for it you continue to keep putting consumers in danger! It starts off with replacing a battery then all of a sudden something is wrong with the electrical wiring, either recall it or put Ford out of business
The steering wheel locks up. It happens when you make a sharp turn or when you turn on air conditioning a few minutes later steering locks. There has been a recall why wasn’t Ford Fusion included. If it was can I still get if repaired.
124k miles on my Fusion. My wife's car, she doesn't beat on it. Had street cleaning, had to move to other side of street, went around the block. Had very little acceleration, jerking, by the time I made it around the block an Orange Wrench came on to the dash. ( If this would of started on the express way, I wouldn't be alive to report it) Car was fine the 2 days prior, drove it, had it washed, taken in for emissions test. The following day took it in to get the wrench code scanned by my regular mechanic P2701-00 transmission friction element b apply time range/performance My mechanic told to take it in to a few Trans shops to get it checked out to see what they say. Need to replace the entire Trans... Looking at 3500.00 minimum. Unfortunately the trans problem is commonly known now for these years on the fusion. This is something a recall is needed for.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle was shaking abnormally. The contact depressed the brake pedal, and the vehicle shook more violently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the passenger’s side front caliper needed to be replaced, and that the brake fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the mechanic was not able to get pressure in the brake lines and that HCU needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
WHEN TRYING TO STOP , EVEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, TAKES A WHILE TO STOP! CONTACTED FORD BEFORE FILING THIS REPORT AND SEARCHING IN INTERNET FOR RECALLS ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM, THERE WAS A REPORT BY CR, THAT ON FORD FUSION MODEL AND FEW OTHER MOTHERS, FORD HAS RECALLED ABOUT 600000 CARS, BUT DIDN'T PROVIDE ME WITH A RECALL CODE FOR A FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEM VALVE THAT DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY! Summary Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. This reaction may cause the valves to not close properly. BUT EVIDENTLY IT DOESN'T COVER 2010 MODELS, PERHAPS SOMEBODY SHOULD LOOK INTO IT, SINCE THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS FAULTY. THANK YOU
My 2010 Ford fusion has no power steering and I believe a fuel injector problem. The service power steering message appears the engine light is on. I was told it had something to do with needing a fuel injector. This problem needs to be recalled ASAP
Couldn't move steering wheel all of a sudden, drove to store and when I got back in my car, I couldn't turn the wheel and had to get it towed. Nothing happened or changed on the way to the store. When car was first bought, steering would lock up while driving on highway and almost caused accidents multiple times.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, there was an abnormal hissing sound coming from the gas tank. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, he observed condensation under the rear passenger’s side tire. Additionally, the contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, he observed three cracks on the fuel tank underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000.
Multiple wheel studs have snapped in half, almost losing my wheel completely. This happened on all 4 wheels.
The power steering pump has been replaced twice myself at home project for my son then I have a few buddy’s that also have power steering issues with the same year and a lot of people online claiming this as well this needs to be fixed immediately
Brakes are spongy and need to be pumped to stop vehicle in a timely manner. Brake fluid flush, brake pads and rotors did not solve the problem. The 2010 Ford Fusion SE has a recall dealing with a similar issue, but my specific VIN is not a part of the mass recall. No warning lamps or messages came on, but the brake pedal almost goes all the way to the floor to stop the vehicle. My safety and another cars safety were at risk because my brakes do not respond quickly enough to come to a complete stop if someone drives out in front of me or if I am simply coming to a stop at a red light or parking. I will be taking my car to the nearest Ford dealership in the next 2 days to have the braking system inspected and confirmed.
there is a recall for 2010 ford fusion for the abs hydraulic control unit release date December 18, 2019 nhtsa campaign number 19v904000 i found this recall after my 2010 ford fusion experienced brake pedal to floor with almost no stopping power. i called the local dealership vogler ford of carbondale il and they told me my vin # is not part of this recall even though im experiencing the exact reason the recall was issued. ford motor company of dearborn they were of no help and was told to contact nhtsa the vehicle is still having the same braking issues
When stepping on the brake pedal, it goes all the way to the floor. I have to pump the brake and then sometimes, it will stop. There were no warning lights. The brakes were replaced but the problem still happened. I had my car towed to the closest Ford dealership. They replaced the Master Cylinder and it still happened. They have now replaced the HCU. My VIN number was not included in the recall NHTSA Campaign #19V904000 which was for EXACTLY what was happening with my car.
Applying brakes on wet pavement. ABS brakes failed. Brake peddle went to floorboard. Braking over uneven surfaces, suchas a speed bump, will also cause ABS to fail, with brake peddle going to the floorboard.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the "Service Power Steering" warning light flashed on the instrument cluster. The contact stated that the steering wheel felt as if it had seized, and excessive force was needed to turn the steering wheel. The contact pulled over and turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to regain power steering functionality. The contact left the vehicle on the side of the road. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times prior to the failure however, after turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle had regained power steering functionality. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Bad sub frame transmission mount. Engine shake about pop out
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for an oil change and tire rotation, the contact was informed that the tires were unable to be rotated due to severely corroded rear jacking points, preventing the vehicle from being placed on the car lift. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact was advised to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 109,755.
This vehicle has had multiple incidents in which the wheel studs on the front wheels will break off while driving. The last time this occurred, I noticed that 3 of the 5 wheel studs on the right-front wheel were broken off. When this was discovered, I contacted a Ford dealer and they said that there was no recall for this issue and didn't have any idea on how this had occured. I then contacted the last shop that had worked on the vehicle. They confirmed that the lug nuts were tightened using a torque wrench at the proper specifications. I have replaced several wheel studs and lug nuts on this vehicle in the past after they were found to be missing. The vehicle exhibits no vibration or warning signs while driving. This could have resulted in the wheel falling off while driving without warning.
My brakes failed but I had them changed twice and that wasn’t the problem I had the cylinder change and still no brakes when I bought it it had some issues with the brakes going to the floor
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the contact became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The electric power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: EA17004 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 89,000.
