TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD ASSIST WITH REPLACING THE PARTS USED FOR THE PREVIOUS REPAIR. THE CONTACT FELT AS IF THE REPAIRED PART WAS DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.

STARTING IN 2013 WE HAD VARIOUS SUDDEN POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULTS; OCCURRING AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 40 MPH, ONE FRIGHTENING EPISODE WAS WITH MY 10TH GRADE DAUGHTER WITH HER PERMIT, WHILE SHE WAS HAVING DRIVING LESSON WITH ME, WE MADE IT TO THE SIDE IN TRAFFIC; SHE DID NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL WHEN P/S WAS GONE. AFTER AT LEAST A DOZEN OCCURRENCES (RESTARTING DID RESOLVE THE ISSUES), IN EARLY 2015 I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER FOR SOME ANSWERS, I SEPARATELY HAD THE CODES CHECKED AT AN AUTOZONE TYPE PLACE,THE ONLY CODE THAT CAME UP WAS AN EVAPORATIVE PURGE VALVE CODE; NOTHING ABOUT THE P/S FAULT.I DID NOT TELL FORD ABOUT THE CODES. FORD CALLED TO TELL ME I NEEDED TO HAVE THE COMPUTER REPLACED FOR $1500. BUT THEY COULD NOT ID A MECHANICAL P/S FAULT, NOR PURGE VALVE CODE.ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH COMPUTER.NO FAILURE MODE WAS GIVEN.PAY $1500 FOR A REPAIR THAT YOU CANNOT IDENTIFY? THEY"RESET" THE COMP. THE PROBLEM NOT REPEATED UNTIL JUST 7/17/17 BUT RESTART NOW DOES NOT CLEAR IT OR LIFTING BATT LEADS.MY HUSBAND ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME BUT WITH DIFFICULTY. THIS EVENT THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 25 MPH, MADE RIGHT TURN FROM STOP,THEN LOST P/S. OIL CHANGE WARNING LIGHT IS ON TOO. NEEDS OIL & INSPECTION BUT IN DRIVEWAY,MAY NOT PASS INSPECTION. FORD CLAIMS IN THE 2010 HANDBOOK THE CAR IS STILL DRIVABLE WHEN P/S IS LOST! DID FORD GET THAT CLEARED WITH STATE INSPECTORS WHEN THEY KNEW THEY HAD THIS PROBLEM. I AM IN MY MID-FIFTIES AND ACTIVE BUT HAVE A MUSCLE WEAKENING CONDITION. I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE THE STRENGTH EITHER TO GET THIS CAR TO THE SIDE FOR SAFETY. IT BOGGLES MY MIND THAT THE 2010 MY HAS NOT BEEN PLACED ON RECALL BUT 2012 THROUGH 2014(?) HAVE. PLEASE TAKE EVERY ACTION TO PLACE THIS ITEM ON A RECALL PATH. THANK YOU.
TAKATA RECALL... I HAVE RECEIVED THREE NOTICES ABOUT MY CAR BEING AFFECTED AND ALL THREE SAID NOT TO BRING CAR TO DEALER AT THIS TIME THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME. IT HAS BEEN MONTHS AND STILL NOT RECALLED. I RECIEVED A LETTER TODAY FROM AUTO AIRBAG SETTLEMENT TELLING ME TO GET THEM FIXED ASAP. WHO DO I NEED TO CALL WHEN THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY WILL NOTIFY ME? ITS BEEN LONG ENOUGH
TAKATA RECALL WHENEVER I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, MY CAR SEEMS TO STOP ACCELERATING OR STALL. THE RPM GOES UP, PUT IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER, AND CUT MY CAR OFF FOR IT TO START DRIVING AGAIN AND REPEAT THAT PROCESS WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND ITS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A WHILE. WHEN I GOT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSHED AND TOPPED OF IT STOPPED HAPPENING FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT THEN IT STARTED MESSING UP AGAIN.
DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY, WE GOT A MESSAGE SAYING TO SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. SHORTLY AFTER WE LOST POWER STEERING ON THE VEHICLE. WE HAD A HARD TIME GETTING IT OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE EXPRESSWAY BECAUSE OF TRAFFIC. WE ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT.
POWER STEERING ASSIST RANDOMLY CUTS OUT WHILE DRIVING. IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT WILL RESET. HAPPENS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION INCLUDING REVERSE AND FORWARD. HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY AT LOW SPEED IN DRIVEWAY, PARKING LOT AND CITY STREETS. FIRST OCCURRENCE 7/14/17. HAS HAPPENED 3 OTHER TIMES SINCE.
TAKATA RECALL I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM OKCARZ IN ORLANDO HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THIS RECALL WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR I CONTACTED RON NORRIS FORD THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND WOULDN'T BE ANY TIME SOON. PER JOE KID SERVICE DIRECTOR. CONTACTED OKCARZ THEY REFUSED TO SWAP ME OUT OF THE CAR STATING THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY DID NOT CARE
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, ON A CITY STREET, I NOTICED A LIGHT COME ON IN MY DASH ABOUT POWER STEERING FAULTY OR SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE. AS I TURNED IN THE DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTRA HARD TO TURN. IT HAPPENED A COUPLE TIMES PRIOR TO THIS BUT I TURNED CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. THIS TIME IT WILL NOT CORRECT ITSELF BY RESTARTING CAR. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN CAR IN 4 MONTHS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE,ALTHOUGH I AM STILL PAYING ON THIS CAR. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE POWER STEERING FAILING ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL CAR. I'M TO SCARED TO DRIVE IT NOW BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HURT OTHERS OR MYSELF TRYING TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING AN INDICATOR APPEARED IN THE "MESSAGE CENTER" INDICATING "POWER STEERING FAULT". I CONTINUED MY ROUTE TO WORK WITH NO PROBLEM STEERING AT THAT TIME. AFTER WORK, I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE TURNED ON THE IGNITION AND BEGIN TO TURN TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. AT THAT POINT STEERING BECAME VERY HARD, THEN ANOTHER INDICATOR APPEARED STATING "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW". NOT KNOWING THAT THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A RESERVOIR FOR POWER STEERING FLUID, I DROVE TO THE NEAREST AUTO STORE TO PURCHASE POWER STEERING FLUID. AFTER RETURNING TO MY VEHICLE & LOOKING AT THE MANUAL I THEN FOUND OUT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT TAKE FLUID FOR POWER STEERING. I THEN CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE TO SEE IF THIS IS UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER 2016. HOPEFULLY IT IS BECAUSE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
TAKATA RECALL -- IT IS ONE YEAR SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. FORD STATED TODAY THAT STILL DON'T HAVE ANY INFLATORS IN MANUFACTURE FOR REPLACEMENT. THE CAR WILL BE PAST ITS LIFESPAN BEFORE THE RECALL IS COMPLETE MEANWHILE ANY PASSENGER IN THE CAR IS AT RISK. THIS IS AN UNSATISFACTORY RESPONSE TO A MAJOR SAFETY RISK. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET!
BACKED OUT OF GARAGE AND POWER STEERING TOTALLY QUIT.
I HAVE A 2010 FORD FUSION WITH LESS THAN 80K MILES ON IT. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THIS VEHICLE WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH OUR 3 YEAR OLD IN THE BACKSEAT. SHE WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD, AS WELL AS RETURN THE VEHICLE HOME. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! THE ONLY WARNING LIGHT THAT TURNED ON WAS THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAK MESSAGE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE TROUBLE CODES, AND CLEARED THEM. THE DROVE THE VEHICLE ABOUT 15 MILES AND WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE 7/11/17 AND DROVE 15 MILES HOME AND LEFT FOR THE NIGHT. 7/12/15 THE MORNING OF, MY WIFE PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE 3 MILES AND SURE ENOUGH SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO HER WHILE DRIVING. FOR THE LIFE OF ME I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THIS ISSUE. WHY IS THERE A RECALL FOR THE 2011 VEHICLES BUT NOT FOR 2010, WHICH FROM MY UNDERSTANDING IS WHAT SPARKED THE ENTIRE RECALL PERIOD. FORD NEEDS TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE, OR PROVIDE A FIX FOR THE VEHICLE.
STEERING COLUMN MAKES A RUBBING NOISE WHEN TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS (<5 MPH). SOUND IS LESS AT HIGHER SPEEDS. FORD DEALER SAYS TO REPLACE STEERING UNIT DUE TO POSSIBLE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE ($1600) AND A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAIL COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING AND A CRASH. THIS SOUNDS LIKE IT SHOULD FALL UNDER THE POWER STEERING ASSIST RECALL FOR THE 2011+ FUSIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL "POWER ASSIST STEERING FAULT" APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW STEERING SYSTEM WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST AND THEN BE REIMBURSED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

I HAVE FOUND AN OPEN RECALL INVESTIGATION ON THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FOR 2010 -2012 FORD FUSION AND NOW I AM SEEING MORE AND MORE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE JUST HAD THE ISSUE WITH MY SYSTEM LOCKING UP WITH NO WARNING/ NO WARNING LIGHTS NOTHING .MY CAR IS IN MY DRIVE WAY WITH POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. I HAVE A SIBLING WHO HAS THE SAME CAR AS I DO WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE MODELS WHY HASNT ANYTHING BEEN DONE! YOU HAVE AN OPEN INVESTIGATION !!! I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN AND I COMMUTE TO WORK I OR MY CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN HURT !
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE AT A STOP, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND TENDED TO SURGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURES RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (DELEHANTY FORD IN FLUSHING, MI) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PURGE VALVE AND THE CHARCOAL CANISTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE PURGE VALVE CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED IN 2015 PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL AND THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FUTURE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND AGREED WITH THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN SEARCH SHOWED ONE OPEN RECALL: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V793000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 157,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TIRE SENSOR CAME ON SAYING THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS LOW SO I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A GAS STATION TO CHECK THE AIR PRESSURE. AS SOON AS I PULLED IN I LOST THE POWER STEERING AND THE SENSOR CAME ON ABOUT THE POWER STEERING. I WAS STILL IN MOTION WHEN I LOST THE POWER STEERING.
I AM FED UP WITH MY FUSION HAVING LOW PRESSURE LIGHT COMING ON AND HAVING TO CARRY AN AIR COMPRESSOR AT ALL TIMES BECAUSE THE LOW PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON ANY TIME AND YOU DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME TO GET AIR INTO IT BEFORE OTHER ISSUES START. I HAVE SEEN WHERE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I KEEP BEING TOLD THAT THE TIRES ARE FINE AND THAT THERE IS JUST SOME CORROSION ON THE RIMS. THEY CLEAN IT UP AND REMOUNT THE TIRES AND IT MIGHT BE OK FOR 4-6 WEEKS. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT TEMPERATURE OR TYPE OF WEATHER. IT HAPPENS ON COUNTY ROADS, CITY ROADS AND INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS.
FAULTY POWER STEERING ASSIST, GOT EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. ON A STREET WHYLL DRIVING
I STARTED MY 2010 FUSION AND BEGAN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THE ALERT CHIME STARTED AND DASH WARNING FOR "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" DISPLAYED. LOST STEERING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY CREEP THE VEHICLE TO THE CURB. TURNED IGNITION OFF, BACK ON AND ERROR RESET. SAME PROBLEM RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY, AGAIN CORRECTED BY TURNING IGNITION OFF, THEN BACK ON. HAVE NOT SOUGHT REPAIRS AS OF YET.

DRIVING LOCALLY, WRENCH AND ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON SUDDENLY. WHEN I GOT SHORT WAYS TO STORE, TURNED ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED, LIGHTS GONE - THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALER. I HAD NO CLUE WHAT PROBLEM WAS REPLACED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CAR IS 7 YEARS OLD, ONLY 43,700 MILES. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR AS THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN - WHAT IF I'M IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT HIGH SPEEDS. CAN'T BELIEVE FORD WAS ABLE TO AVOID A RECALL --- THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM!!!!

TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL - REPLACEMENT TAKING WAY TOO LONG - OVER ONE AND A HALF YEARS! I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES, CA 91607 PLEASE HELP. (NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET.)
I WAS REVERSING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST CONTROL OF THE POWER STEERING AND ALMOST HIT THE WALL AT THE END OF MY DRIVEWAY! THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE CAME ON AND HAS NOT GONE OFF. I HAVE TRIED RESTARTING MY VEHICLE MANY TIMES TO NO AVAIL.
I START THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT AND IT IMMEDIATELY WARNS POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THE STEERING WHEEL IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE STEERING APPEARED TO WORK. VERY FRIGHTENING DRIVE HOME. LOOKED UP THE ISSUE ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS EXACTLY LIKE MINE. ALSO SAW FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR MODEL YEARS EXCEPT 2010 FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I THINK THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND INCLUDED IN THE SAME RECALL.
PREVIOUSLY HAD ISSUE WITH POWER STEERING AT ABOUT 90,000 MILES. SPENT $1500.00 TO REPLACE RACK AND PINION. A LITTLE OVER ONE YEAR LATER NOW READING 155,700 MILES I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I DRIVE DAILY ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS PUSHING 70MPH FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AT A TIME. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY ON A BACK ROAD WHEN "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL CONTROL OF STEERING. COULD BE KILLED DRIVING TO WORK WHEN I THOUGH I ALREADY REPLACE THE PROBLEM JUST TO HAVE IT MESS UP 50 THOUSAND MILES LATER.

THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLES ARE BROKEN. TO EXIT THE VEHICLE YOU HAVE TO PULL THE LOCK AND DOOR HANDLE AT THE SAME TIME. ON PASSENGER DOOR SIDE NOW I AM UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS SAME PROBLEM IS OCCURRING ON MY WIFE'S FORD FUSION 2011. THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF YOU HAVE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED, THE CRUISE CONTROL DE-ACTIVATES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE WRENCH ICON COMES ON AT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE ENGINE BEGINS TO RUN VERY ROUGH, SURGING, THEN SLOWING DOWN, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL CANNOT BE RE-ENGAGED. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED BY THE FORD DEALER 18 MONTHS AGO, AND THE CONDITION THAT EXISTS NOW WAS THE SAME THAT EXISTED PRIOR TO THE THROTTLE BODY BEING REPLACED 18 MONTHS AGO. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 68,000 MILES. FUEL ECONOMY IS 20% LOWER THAN NORMAL. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO ATTEMPT TO PASS ON 2-LANE ROADS, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE ENGINE WILL SPUTTER. THIS STARTED OCCURRING OCCASIONALLY IN MID-JUNE, 2017, AND NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE THE CAR. CODE THAT WAS STORED WAS P2119, "THROTTLE BODY RANGE."
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 25 MPH, THE POWER STEERING AND ADVANCETRAC INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AFTER PARKING, EXITING, AND RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE. THE STEERING WHEEL EVENTUALLY RETURNED TO NORMAL, BUT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW WHICH COMPONENT HAD FAILED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DECLINED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE AND THE CONTACT MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH ELKINS FORDLAND (696 BEVERLY PIKE, ELKINS, WV 26241) AND WAS AWAITING REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
STARTED THE CAR AND ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND A WARNING TO SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW. I PULLED OVER STEERING WAS OKAY AND AFTER I PULLED OFF THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. IM STILL WAITING FOR SERVICE TO LET ME KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
WHEN IN MOTION AS WELL AS WHEN STOPPED, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES SOFT AND I HAVE TO PRESS THE PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR TO FULLY ENGAGE BRAKES. IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL DECELERATION BECAUSE THE PEDAL RESISTANCE CHANGES IN THE MIDDLE OF BRAKING, OFTEN INCREASING THE STOPPING DISTANCE. WHEN IN MOTION AND DECELERATING, THE BRAKE PEDAL RESISTANCE WILL SUDDENLY BECOME SOFTER AND THE CAR WILL STOP DECELERATING UNLESS I PRESS THE PEDAL IN FARTHER. WHEN STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL, THE BRAKES WILL BECOME SOFT AND THE CAR WILL BEGIN TO ROLL FORWARD UNINTENTIONALLY. I HAVE TO PRESS THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO KEEP THE CAR FROM ROLLING FORWARD. THIS ISSUE WORRIES ME WHEN I AM DRIVING IN AREAS WITH MANY STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS.

AFTER SEARCHING THE ISSUE ONLINE THERE ARE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE OVER MULTIPLE TEARS AND VEHICLES ALL WITH THE SAME ROAD SYSTEM. SOMETHING NEEDS DONE AND IT SHOULDN'T TAKE PEOPLE DYING! THEY JUST GOT OFF THE TURNPIKE...WHAT IF IT WOULD'VE HAPPENED THEN?
BACKING OUT OF GARAGE, CAR EXHIBITED "POWER STEERING FAILURE" INDICATOR. WHEEL LOCKED TO THE POINT OPERATOR COULD NOT TURN THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP TESTED THE EPAS (ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING) GEAR/MODULE AND IT CODED. SAME VEHICLE IN 2011 OR 2012 MODEL WITH SAME CODE WOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY MANUFACTURER RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE EXACT SAME PART AND EXACT SAME CODE AND FAILURE IN THE 2010 MODEL. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL EPAS GEARS/MODULES PRIOR TO THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT CORRECTION (2012). CLEARLY FORD MISREPORTED THE PARTS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL, AS THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ON ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS PART. HAD THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT HIGH SPEED OR IN A TURN, MY DAUGHTER LIKELY WOULD HAVE CRASHED AND MAY BEEN INJURED OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM DUE TO FORD'S NEGLIGENCE.

SHORTLY AFTER STARTING MY CAR I RECEIVED THE WARNING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND MY POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK. THIS WAS RECALLED ON THE 2011-2012 MODELS BUT THE 2010 WAS LEFT OUT, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM EXISTS IN THIS MODEL TOO. I NOW CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT IS UNSAFE TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING GO OUT AT A MOMENTS NOTICE
SHORTLY AFTER TURNING MY CAR ON, WHILE STILL STATIONARY, A CHIME WENT OF AND MY DASH DISPLAY READ "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND I HAD NO POWER STEERING IN THE CAR. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON, AT WHICH POINT THE POWER STEERING BEGAN TO WORK AGAIN. AFTER TAKING TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, IT IS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW POWERING STEERING RACK IS NECESSARY AS IT IS UNKNOWN IF/WHEN THE POWER STEERING WILL QUIT FUNCTIONING (STATIONARY, DRIVING, TURNING, ETC). ORIGINALLY REPORTED THIS AS A "UNKNOWN/OTHER" ISSUE, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID TO REPORT IT AS A "STEERING ISSUE". OTHER COMPLAINT IS UNDER TRACKING # 10993921.
I WAS PULLING OUT MY DRIVEWAY AND COULDN'T STEER MY CAR. I PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS TIME, NO ISSUES. WEEKS LATER, I'M DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND GET A WARNING FOLLOWED BY LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHEN EXITING AND MAKING A TURN. CONTACTED A FORD DEALER, GAVE MY VIN#, ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS, THAT IT HAS BEEN "RESET", AND THAT TO HAVE IT FIXED, I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. WHY HASN'T FORD RECALLED THIS ISSUE? IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING!!
TAKATA RECALL HAS BEEN IN EFFECT FOR OVER ONE YEAR ON THIS VEHICLE, BUT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER KEEPS SAYING THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY PARTS TO MAKE THE REPAIRS. IS FORD JUST WAITING FOR US TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT OR GET RID OF THE CAR DUE TO OLD AGE? WE BELIEVE THAT FORD IS JUST STALLING SO THAT THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO MAKE REPAIRS.
