The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the pedal felt soft and extended to the floorboard. The brake pedal was pressed multiple times to stop the vehicle. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 175,000.
The power steering assist fault came on because of either a tire sensor warning being ignored or evap code P1450 being ignored. Either way my step-son ignored the check engine light apparently for a couple months. Understandable from young driver. Ford motor company programs this and I'm sure other vehicles to interrupt your electric power steering if you keep ignoring a check engine light. Problem now is 1. For them to do that I feel is wrong first off because taking someone's power steering assist away could be very very dangerous if not fatal. 2 both issues have been repaired with new parts. And the codes will not clear from obd2. Ford claims it needs to be driven through several drive cycles for the ecm to reset the codes because a scan tool will not reset a permanent code. Now not only are they casing this problem with their own programming of ecm but they are advising drivers to drive 100-200 miles over several days completely so called "drive cycles " or monitor cycles " in order for ecm to reset codes. The computer has to read there is no problems apparently 3-4 times then it will reset itself or take vehicle in to have their mechanic reset it with a ford software program called FORscan or FORDsys the only 2 programs to get into main computer. This is beyond the repair of my sons vehicle being corrected in a timely manner. Now it's really a safety issue with Ford and their engineers who are programming vehicles this way. There should be a nationwide lawsuit against them and they should be held accountable for their actions to the highest letter of the law. Hopefully no one has been injured or killed through their selfish desire to create income from vehicle issues. To risk the motorists life in this fashion has to be taken serious and why no one has brought this issues up before or if so why it is being ignored is absurd. I will not stop in my efforts to have this fixed before someone is seriously hurt.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 10 MPH in a parking lot, the power steering lost functionality. The contact stated that the "Service Power Steering Now" warning light was illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle in the parking lot and turned off and on restarted the vehicle several times; however, the power steering assist failed to resume normal operation. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to manufacturer Customer Satisfaction Program 15N01 (EPAS Steering Efforts). The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Airbags did not deploy in a head-on collision that resulted in a total loss of my vehicle. My safety was put in danger as I did not have protection from hitting the steering wheel, driver's side door, or center console.
Frequent failure of electric brake assist. Failure occurs without any prior warning and despite sufficient brake fluid being in master cylinder reservoir. Alarms and notices appear on the driver display panel as the brakes are failing. Can occur at start up or while actively driving the auto. Occurs across all temperature ranges and weather (moisture) conditions. Adversely affects driver's ability to safely use brakes to stop the car. NHTSA issued safety recall applicable to non-hybrid Ford Fusions for the SAME issue and the SAME model year as my car. Mechanically, the electric brake assist systems are IDNETICAL in non-hybrid and hybrid variants of 2010 Fusion. Attached photo illustrates notices that appear on driver display panel when brakes fail.
Power steering should be addressed message displayed on dashboard 11/30/2022. On 12/1/2022 power steering service required displayed on dash & the car had NO STEERING at all. My research indicates power steering issues on this model.
The car has multiple warning lights come on, including "Check Brake System" "Service Advancetrac" and "ABS". The car still brakes but only with much more force and brakes much more slowly. At first it was intermittent but now is stuck in this form. Ford has done a recall for my model (19S54) but my car was built 5 months after the last ones. It was manufactured in the same factory. Based on research, the fix seems to be replacing the ABS module and flushing out the brake fluid. I hope that the recall will eventually extend to later-built cars like my own.
Brakes stopped working. ABS and Brakes lights flashed on when hitting brake from reversing out of parking spot
Total brake failure, with pedal going to the floor. NHTSA safety recall 19S54 for hydraulic control unit does not apply according to McDavid Ford of Fort Worth because of build date afterward. Recall should be extended since this is a common safety hazard for vehicles built after the recall cutoff of 7-15-09. Very dangerous not to issue a mandatory recall. Also, the air bag replacement has been delayed for probably more than a year. It's time for NHTSA to get serious about addressing these glaring safety problems in the Fusion ASAP. Please do your job.
Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010 ||| ABS module error. Yes. ||| Total brake failure while driving; car ignored me pushing brake pedal. ||| No. They performed a diagnosis and ran the ABS module through testing software but found nothing wrong. They test drove it and found nothing wrong. ||| Ford service center, yes. Others no. ||| No obvious symptoms occurred prior to the incident. The car did feel like it was responding ever so slightly differently to my braking for a couple months prior to the total brake failure, but it was so slight I thought it was just in my head. There were no warning lights or anything that would lead me to believe that something was wrong with my brakes. ||| FULL INCIDENT: I was leaving a parking lot and drove up a short ramp to merge onto the highway. When I got to the top of the ramp the ramp curved downwards towards the highway, and I pressed on the brakes to stop the car so I could check for traffic. I was at a 90degree angle to the traffic. The car completely ignored me pressing on the brakes and continued to coast towards the highway; which was about 4ft in front of me; and I pressed on the brakes again and nothing happened. I saw a red brake light on my dashboard and heard loud beeping noises from it, I put the car in Park, which stopped the car, then I pulled the E-brake and turned the car off and called for a tow truck. When the car was restarted by the tow truck driver the issue went away. The tow truck driver was able to drive and brake just fine, and there were no warning lights for him. The dealership found nothing wrong with the brakes or ABS module. There is a recall out for the ABS module for the model & year of my car (Ford Fusion Hybrid 2010) for ones made in Mexico. There was no recall for this module performed on my car because it was not made in Mexico, despite having the same reported issue.
Power Brake failure. Pedal needs to be pressed to the floor for brakes to engage. Dealer confirmed a Hydraulic Control Unit failure. This is the same problem that resulted in model 2010 Ford Fusion recalls. Ford is stating the recall doesn’t apply to our VIN but its the same issue and they want us to pay $3000 for the repair.
The recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed malfunctioned. The ABS brake modulator had malfunctioned leaving me with pretty much no brakes. One minute I had brakes the next nothing. My car was taken to Monroe the week before for tires. They noticed nothing wrong I had also put new brake pads on. The car should of not had its brakes just go out like it did. Had I been on the highway or driving over 30 i wouldn't of been able to stop. I could of died from a recalled item that was suppose to have been fixed so i would of never ended up in the situation I was in. No brakes barely able to stop going less than 10 miles at a traffic circle. Luckily God was on my side, it wasn't busy at the intersection and I didn't have to stop. If I did I would of smacked right into the other vehicle since I didn't know my brakes weren't working correctly. They where there then nothing. Foot went right down to the floor still barely did anything to stop. Slowed the car down very very minimally. The repair shop was a nightmare. Ford of Greenwiche had my car for over a month. When they said it was fixed it wasn't. We where also charged by them for the replacement of the brake modulator which was a defect by the company that we shouldn't of been charged for. Also numerous things where done wrong by thos company and I feel that no one should ever have to go through what I did with them. The lack of care, putting the repair off, lack of organization, faulty repair-just to name a few. I would like restitution for my time and the cost of the repair for the ABS modulator. The car was taken to Monroe before ford for this problem. My boyfriend who is a licensed mechanic has stated as well that this part should not of malfunctioned this way and it should be covered by recall.
On my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid the ABS module and brake system warning lights all turned on at once at random, and the brakes stopped working properly. The vehicle is not drivable. I see there has been some recalls for this for 2010 non hybrid fusions, but this is a seriously dangerous issue for the hybrids also!
My granddaughter was starting her car and the brake just stuck. It would not go down or move. 2010 ford fusion Hybrid this happen approximately last Wednesday, n November 9, 2022. I have done research and it's a record issue with the ABS SYSTEM failing in the Fusion, plus all the above recalls. Ford want 1800 00 to repair this issue. No crash thankfully. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
While driving there was a alarm sound from the steering consul, then the power steering stoped working. I was in a parking lot so I was moving at a low speed. I was able to get the car into a parking area and stopped. There is a warning message that says power assist steering fault. If I was driving on the highway I hate to think what would have happened. I have had the car towed to a shop for repairs. This car has 95000 miles on it. I feel that there needs to be a recall on this power steering system.
When driving, the ABS failed. The breaks depressed to the floor and the parking break was needed to fully stop the vehicle. The ABS light, track control, and service break lights were illuminated. The car was taken to the dealer and they said that the hydraulic control unit needs to be replaced. While there is a recall for this part for other 2010 ford fusions, my vin number is not covered. A formal complaint was made with Ford but no response has been received. It seems like there are many complaints about the same issue for Fords that are somehow not covered under the recall.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle and removing the key from the ignition switch, the vehicle rolled away. The contact stated that the parking brake was applied to stop the vehicle and then the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired and was towed back to the residence. The contact was made aware of an unknown power train recall; however, the local dealer confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
Driver airbag needs to be replaced, per information on NHTSA website. I have not received any correspondence from Ford regarding the recall.
Front brake calipers are seizing up and getting so hot they smoke (could potentially cause fire). This heat destroys the brake rotors and pads. The car wobbles when this is occurring. This is the second time in two years the rotors, brakes, calipers and brake lines had to be replaced. Mechanic has replaced all components again and has determined the ABS module is sticking, which will not allow the new brake system fluid to bleed. Mechanic determined the ABS module is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. This car is mostly highway driven.
My vehicle is having trouble at first start after refueling the vehicle and I made a research and found that there is a recall for some same model of my vehicle that there is a problem with the purge valve. The recall number is 15S34. My vehicle is having the same trouble as mentioned in the recall but my vehicle is not listed as recall under the vin even though I am having problems. I have attached the recall document below that my vehicle needs.
2010 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG INFLATOR SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED AND WANTS TO SAY CHEERS TO 5 STAR FORD FOR THEIR SPEEDY REPAIRS.
Complete electronic power steering system failure. I cannot turn the steering wheel. This is a safety issue. I was fortunate that it happened in my driveway, but reading on line others have had accidents when their steering failed while driving. No warning lamp indicator was illuminated. A Ford dealership has diagnosed the problem, and said the car requires part replacement(s) that will cost me $2,500. This is already a recall on the 2011 and 2012 model years, and should also be on the 2010.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that after she retrieved the vehicle, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the traction control, the tire pressure, the ABS, the service brake warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the brake fluid leaked, the electrical system intermittently malfunctioned and the key fob failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
RE: From my complaint earlier. I took my car to a mechanic to find out why I was losing my brake fluid. The mechanic said the leak was coming from the ABS Box. ( Hydralic) this was the problem Ford Motor Company had a recall for, Their quick fix DID NOT take care of the problem by switching to DOT 4 brake fluid. I still had some brake issues after I took it in for the recall. When it is raining I still had the issue of my brakes failing or if I hit a bump in the road I had brake failure at times. Ford Motor Company took a cheap way out thinking this would solve the problem. I had to leave the road in the pass causing damage to my 2010 Ford Fusion. Today I am very angry with Ford Motor. They should have replaced Hydraulic brake system in the vehicle instead of playing games with people lives. Ford Dealership told me the part would cost $600. Ford Motor Company should be held accountable for their lack of interest of fixing the recall the correct way.
The car has lost the electric power steering. According to a Google search, this is a recall problem with the 2010 Ford Fusion.
I started my car and my steering wheel would not turn. I had a warning pop up saying it was power steering assist fault. I turnd the car off and started back up and it was fine. I have researched this and I find alot of people have this problem. I dont want to be driving and this goes out. I am 66 years old and this absolutely needs to be a recall on this problem. I could wreck and kill someone or myself.
Braking failure and lights associated with it are currently on in the dash. Dealer says I need a new ABS Module and HCU. Around $2,000 worth of parts to fix it. This recall was first issued 3 years ago and Ford still has not found a solution apparently.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that Ford Motor Company was recalling certain 2006-2010 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, Lincoln Zephyr and MKZ vehicles. The valves within the ABS Hydraulic Control Units (HCU) may react with brake fluids containing specific corrosion preventative additives. As a result, the contact was concerned that the valves could potentially fail on his vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the concern and transferred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering warning light was illuminated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the steering wheel seized. The contact was able to unlock the steering wheel with the assistance of an independent mechanic. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electric rack and opinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure recurred. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle went into Limp Mode and stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be properly diagnosed until the warning light was illuminated while diagnosing the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that he received a recall notice on the electronic throttle body and was concerned that while driving the vehicle would stall again. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.
Brake pedal goes to floor with very minimal braking. ABS light and Brake lights come on along with Service Advancetrac. This appears to be the EXACT same issue as 19V90400 (Ford recall 19S54) but Ford Service says vehicle is not part of the recall. RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED before someone dies! Ford dealer states that Ford Parts has placed a "STOP SALE" order on HCU's to fix the problem.
Ford issued a recall on March 25, 2021 but has provided no remedy. Manufacturer Recall Number21S12 NHTSA Recall Number21V158 Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available
I purchased this vehicle for my minor child to have a safe and reliable vehicle to transport herself to and from work. However, there has been a power steering issue with her car for the last year. One day she was driving and just could no longer turn the corner. There was no warning and the light came on only after she turned the car off and then back on. So She pulled to the shoulder and waited for tow. She was so scared as she was on one of the busiest streets in Columbus, OH. Please research these vehicles and make sure that they go through the necessary quality control process. My vehicle is available for inspection at any time as it has been to the shop many times to no avail. Every fix seems to be temporary and I've wasted thousands of dollars in parts, tows and repairs. My child's safety is at risk and as a parent, I feel like purchasing this particular vehicle was the biggest mistake. I even have a 2016 Ford Fusion that has multiple recalls and I'm considering selling as these vehicles are not safe! Please contact me. I just dont know what to do. We need working cars and I cant afford to keep taking it to the shop every other month. Please help me!
A few years back there was a recall on a fuel system part cause it would emit strong gasoline odor. Same issue has come back. Dealership states that recall was completed and they could not repair the very same issue without charging for it.
The contact’s daughter owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while his daughter was driving, she depressed the brake pedal attempting to slow the vehicle however, the brakes failed to engage. The contact stated that his daughter had to apply pressure to the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
After driving the car normally, parking, and leaving the car for about 30 minutes, upon restarting the car, the Service Autotrac, anti-skid, ABS, and brake warning lights illuminated. The brake pedal travels nearly to the floor with no braking. Car had no braking unless I stomped on the pedal which locks up the brakes to stop. No trouble codes in OBD II. Car has 166,000 miles. I looked on You Tube, and this is a COMMON PROBLEM with Ford passenger cars and F-150s.
Abrupt Loss of Power Steering. Faulty Electrical Power Steering. Faulty Electrical Power Steering Assist (EPAS). Faulty Steering Gear Assembly. Dash Lights: SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW SERVICE ADVANCETRAC Issue occurred when turning car off to pump gas, then issue was present when starting car back up. Problem confirmed by Ford Service Center. No warnings prior to issue occurring. Issue occurred unpredictability. Research shows it appears to be a known Ford manufacturing defect with the electrical steering assembly assist parts on these models. 2011 and newer models qualify for a power steering recall, but my 2010 model does not. $2,000-$3,000 repair.
The hydraulic control module/ABS control unit has malfunctioned, causing the brake pedal to become spongy. The pedal is not firm, and I need to press the brake pedal all the way down to get normal braking force. With normal functioning brakes, you press the pedal down 25%; however, I must press down 75% until I even begin feeling the car slow down. There were no warning lights, and this problem has existed for two years. I have replaced the brakes and bled the fluid multiple times, but the problem persists. I have had very close calls with other drivers where I have not had enough time to stop due to having to press the brake pedal all the way down. This problem is constant and occurs whether I drive in the city or on the highway. The city is especially dangerous due to frequently having to stop for traffic signals or suddenly stopping for pedestrians or other vehicles on the roadway. I have not had this issue officially diagnosed by a dealership; however, my vehicle is available for inspection. I have experienced symptoms similar to those of many peers with the same vehicle. My peers have changed the master cylinder, brakes, and flushed brake fluid many times, yet the problem has persisted and has been diagnosed as a hydraulic control module/ABS control unit issue that requires replacing the unit. A recall was issued for select 2010 Ford Fusions regarding this issue; however, after checking on the NHTSA and Ford websites, my vehicle is not eligible for a recall despite experiencing similar issues. I hope by bringing this to your attention there can be a new recall issued to encompass all 2010 Ford fusions and associated models experiencing the same issues, as having functional brakes is extremely important for not only the safety of the vehicle occupants but also for others using the roadway. I hope the NHTSA, in collaboration with Ford, will work in the best interest of the public's safety to swiftly address this issue before any unfortunate accidents occur.
Ford Recall 21S12 (NHTSA Recall 21V-158) (Driver's Airbag) has no remedy yet. The earlier recall for the passenger side airbag took many years complete. I'm the original owner, and it has been under air bag recalls that seem to not have Ford's attention for several years of my twelve years of ownership. Isn't about time for NHTSA to start applying pressure for Ford to take action? No incident yet, but I really don't want to have one either.
Upon starting the car, the power steering system failed and the car went into mechanical steering mode. This is a safety concern because in mechanical steering mode turning the car is significantly more difficult and while it did not lead to an accident for me as I was able to pull over, but if I had had to turn I would be unable to turn as sharply or as quickly and that could have easily led to an accident. This is a commonly known problem, and Ford recalled 2011 and 2012 Ford Fusions for this same problem, which have the same power steering rack as the 2010, but did not include the 2010 Fusion despite knowledge of it being an issue as it does have the same steering rack and ECU. The warning lights do not come on until the system fails, so there is no prior warning.
Furl tank leaks and seapage. There’s a past recall yet dealer will not fix.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard to stop the vehicle, causing the braking distance to be extended. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who indicated that the braking mechanism was faulty and needed to be replaced. No further information was available. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 85,000.
Spongy brakes. Occasionally the pedal goes to the floor and the vehicle will not stop as it should.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the ABS, parking brake, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The contact also stated the brake pedal was soft and spongy and the contact had to depress the brake pedal to the floorboard to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the ABS module to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
Drove on freeway 33 miles with no issues with brakes. Picked up my son and then going down hill of where we live No Brakes!! All brake faults lit up on dash. Restarted car several times still no brakes. I had to use emergency brakes to stop Aug 29 2022
While approaching a stop sign I pressed on the brake pedal and the vehicle did not slow down. At the same moment the "Brake System" warning light came on. When I pressed the brake down as hard as I absolutely could, the vehicle finally began to slow ever so slightly, but I still was not able to slow at a reasonable rate for only going 15 miles per hour, and ended up passed the stop sign. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic. After getting my vehicle towed to the nearest Ford service center, they returned with a quote to replace the ABS Module. After doing a quick search on the internet I found that there is a recall for that exact part, for the same year and model of my car, a 2010 Ford Fusion. However, when the Ford service center looks up my VIN, they say that it is not a match for the recall and therefore aren't responsible for the issue.
On approximately August 25, 2022 I noticed that my brake pedal had to be depressed further than usual, so I took it to a mechanic, who diagnosed hydraulic problems and did considerable repair work. That appeared to resolved the issue, but the problem recurred about September 7. The mechanic then identified a "silent recall" for replacement of a part in the automatic braking system -- # 19V904000. When I scheduled my vehicle for the driver airbag recall work, I was told my particular 2010 Ford Fusion was not eligible for the brake repair, even though my car's symptoms axactly match the description for #19V904000. I paid $450 for the work my mechanic did, but the problem was not resolved; and my Ford dealer says they can't repair it, either.
No symptoms prior to failure. As I was driving, brakes went out. ABS warning lights came on along with other brake malfunction lights. I have to press the pedal down 90% of the way for the brakes to engage at all. It has happened twice now. The first time, the codes were reset and the car worked until the second time. Now the brakes don't work. Mechanic says the ABS Module needs replaced.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed several times but failed to respond and went all the way to the floorboard. The contact drove on the side of the road until the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ABS had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) as the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
While driving electric power steering failed. Light came on and no power steering now.
