THIS CAR WAS ALREADY RECALLED FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND IT TOOK MORE THAN 2 YEARS TO GET IT REPLACED, WITH THE RECOMMENDATION THAT NOONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. MY DAUGHTER, WITH A 9 MONTH OLD INFANT IS DRIVING THIS CAR AND IS NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE IT WITH THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG RECALL. THERE IS NO TIMELINE AND NOW SHE NO LONGER WILL DRIVE THIS CAR. BECAUSE THE STATED RISK IS IF THE AIRBAG INFLATER EXPLODES, SHARP METAL FRAGMENTS COULD STRIKE THE DRIVER OR OTHER OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. WOULD YOU DRIVE YOUR 9 MONTH OLD IN THAT CAR?? WE NEED A BETTER SOLUTION THAN WE HAVE NO IDEA WHEN WE CAN FIX IT! THANK YOU! KEVIN WALLI
This car has been recalled to replace the drivers side airbag. We have a 1 year old infant traveling in this car, and we do not feel safe driving it. We have reached out to the dealer for the recall fix of the defective airbag, but it is not available. It has been almost 6 months, we try to avoid using the car, but it is very difficult to avoid it. This is a very long time to fix a serious, life threatening issue. This is our second report on this issue, however we have moved since the initial report and wanted to update our address. What can be done to help us? Thank you.
GOT A FLAT TIRE, PUT THE SPARE TIRE ON. WHEN WE RESTARTED THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT.
RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD LIKE A LOANER UNTIL THE REPAIR PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THIS SAME VEHICLE HAD A PASSENGER AIRBAG RECALL. AND A LOANER VEHICLE WAS PROVIDED. THIS NEW RECALL IS MORE SERIOUS GIVEN IT IS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.
EVER SINCE FORD MOTOR CO. INSTALLED A NEW STEERING BOX DUE TO ONE OF THE PAST RECALLS, THE STEERING LOCKS UP AT RANDOM BUT MAINLY WHEN BACKING UP AND TURNING AT THE SAME TIME. HOWEVER, IT HAS LOCKED UP WHEN TRAVELING WITHIN TRAFFIC (IN THE CITY AND FREEWAY) WHICH IS VERY SCARY.
The steering wheel locked on me while I was driving. There was a recall on the power steering a few years ago and I got it fixed in August of 2016. It seems this part is still failing in the vehicle. FORD said it os no longer under warranty even though the part was recalled. I was fortunate that I was near my home and not on the highway. The car has been towed to El Centro Motors.
MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING BOX A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND EVER SINCE THE CAR'S STEERING LOCKS UP WHEN I TURN THE STEERING TO THE RIGHT QUITE A WAYS AND TRY TO PARALLEL PARK IN REVERSE.

The contact would unlock and lock the vehicle to correct the steering failure. After the last failure, the contact was unable to fix the steering failure and the vehicle remained inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
AFTER HAVING THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF BY FRANKLIN FORD LINCOLN THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT WAS ON AND THE BATTERY KEPT DRAINING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED TODAY. FORD CLAIMS THAT THEY DID NOTHING INCORRECT IN THE RECALL BUT PRIOR TO TAKING MY CAR TO FORD THE BATTERY AND 02 SENSOR WERE IN FINE WORKING ORDER. AFTER THE RECALL THEY WERE NOT. AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY TODAY THE CAR STILL HESITATES TO START AND THE AC SYSTEM KEEPS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE. THIS WAS NOT HAPPENING BEFORE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. I DON'T THINK THAT MY CAR WILL EVER BE THE SAME AND IT IS ALL DUE TO FORD LINCOLN OF FRANKLIN REPLACING THE AIRBAGS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER NIECE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH THROUGH A ROUNDABOUT, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST WITH A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DRIVE FORWARD WHILE SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT'S NIECE WAS FORCED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN RESUMED NORMAL DRIVING FUNCTIONALITY. HER NIECE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BELL FORD (1200 NJ-27, WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, NJ 07067) WHERE THEY INFORMED HER OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY FOR THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED MAPLECREST FORD LINCOLN OF UNION (2800 SPRINGFIELD AVE SUITE 1, VAUXHALL, NJ 07088) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.

THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' WARNING LIGHT STARTED COMING ON SPORADICALLY AS OF 3-25-2021 WHEN I START MY CAR. IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON, THE WARNING MESSAGE GOES AWAY. I READ THE FORD DID A RECALL ON SOME 2011 FORD FUSIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IF MY FUSION IS HAVING THE VERY SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALLED FUSIONS, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY MY FUSION IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN AN ERROR POPPED UP ON THE CARS SCREEN SAYING SERVICE POWER STEERING WE PULLED OVER INTO A GAS STATION TURNED THE CAR OFF CAME BACK TO TURN IT ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS. LAST TIME THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED OUT OF NOWHERE COMPLETELY UNEXPECTED. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND WE'RE TOLD IT WAS A RECALL AND THEY FIXED IT. I FIND IT TO BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THAT THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING ONCE AGAIN SUCH A SHORT TIME LATER. SPECIALLY BEING THAT THIS IS A CAR THAT BARELY GETS ANY USE. THANK GOD WE WERE NOT ON A HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT'S SUCH A DANGEROUS SITUATION. ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE PAPERWORK WE RECEIVED WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY RESOLVED 2 YEARS AGO. WE ARE NOW BEING TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THIS ISSUE S IT WILL BE MORE THAN $1000 TO FIX.

I HAVE HAD TO PUSH MY BRAKES TO THE FLOOR - VERY SCARY BECAUSE I DID NOT THINK I WOULD STOP THIS TIME. BRAKE PADS AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED AND FOUND OUT IT IS THE ABS. I HAVE NO BRAKES NOW!

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, NEITHER THE VIN NOR THE MODEL YEAR WERE INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 220,000.
FUEL TANK IS CRACKED AND ACTIVELY LEAKING FUEL. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, CLEARLY IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.
I am requesting a recall letter from the manufacturer on those issues my vehicle have! 1- Service power steering Now 2- Service advance trac 3- Steering is hard to steer! RECAL 5 DIGIT NUMBER: 15S18 Many owner with that vehicle have same problem which is why it is unsafe to drive the vehicle! I also request a rental vehicle to commute to work and back until this issue is resolved! safety of myself and other drivers comes first! Thanks
ANOTHER FUSION WITH POWER STEERING ASSIST NOT FUNCTIONING. RECALL 15S18 NOT APPLYING TO MANY OF THE DEFECTIVE STEERING VEHICLES. HOW CAN ONLY SELECT VEHICLES ONLY BE EFFECTED WITH THE SAME PARTS ON ALL? PRAYING FOR A MIRACLE NO ONE LOSES THEIR OR A FAMILY MEMBER LIFE OR LIVES.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HER FORD FUSION WHEN THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY INTO A PARKING LOT TO CHECK REAR WHEEL SOUNDS, MESSAGE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" APPEARED ON THE DASH. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN WHEEL AND COULD NOT BACKUP. DEALER DIAGNOSIS ON 2/23/21 WAS "REAR CALIPERS SEIZED" AND STEERING GEAR NEEDS REPLACEMENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KOONS FORD (3111 AUTOMOBILE BLVD SILVER SPRING MD, 20904) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD WHEN TRYING TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND 2 WEEKS LATER AT A STOP SIGN. THE PEDAL SINCE THE 1ST TIME IS A BIT SOFT.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND IT'S VERY DANGEROUS
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while stopping the vehicle, the brake pedal traveled to the floor. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither a dealer nor the manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST QUIT WORKING FOR MULTIPLE SECONDS MULTIPLE TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF 5 YEARS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER THE EXTENDED 10 YEAR WARRANTY AFFORDED US VIA THE SAFETY RECALL 15S18. EACH TIME WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO BE CHECKED FOR DTCS, THERE WERE NO DTCS PRESENT PROBABLY BECAUSE THE FAILURE WOULD ONLY OCCUR FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS. NOT LONG ENOUGH TO SET A DTC. AT TEN YEARS AND 28 DAYS AFTER THE IN SERVICE DATE OF THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED FOR ABOUT 15 SECONDS, JUST LONG ENOUGH TO SET A DTC. WHEN THE RACK FAILED, THE STEERING WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN AND MAY HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT IF THE FAILURE WOULD HAVE OCCURRED WHILE ACTUALLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. LUCKY FOR US WE WERE STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY IN GEAR BUT NOT MOVING. FORD DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAILED POWER STEERING RACK, BUT SINCE WE WERE 28 DAYS PAST THE TEN YEARS, THEY REFUSED TO INSTALL A POWER STEERING RACK UNDER THE TERMS OF THE RECALL. WE HAD TO PAY $2100 FOR A REPLACEMENT POWER STEERING RACK.
I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. BECAUSE OF THIS I HIT A CURB AND POPPED A TIRE BUT LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HARMED. I LOOKED INTO THE ISSUE AND SAW MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT SAME PART (RECALL #15S18). I CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE MANAGER LAUGHED AT ME SAYING IT WAS MY FAULT FOR HITTING THE CURB AFTER TELLING HIM I HIT THE CURB BECAUSE THE STEERING WENT OUT. AFTER MORE DISCUSSION THEY REFUSED TO GRANT THE RECALL BECAUSE I WAS ONE MONTH PAST THE WARRANTY DATE AND IT WOULD COST OVER $2000 TO FIX. IF THIS WERE TO HAVE HAPPENED TO ME ON THE HIGHWAY I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. LUCKILY IT WAS ON A STREET CLOSE TO MY HOME. ALTHOUGH I WASN'T INJURED, SOMEONE ELSE MAY HAVE BEEN OR MAY BE IN THE FUTURE.

POWER STEERING FAULT MY CAR I COULDN'T STEER THE CR
TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR, I HAD A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAIL WHEN IT WAS PARKED AT A STORE. THE FIRST TIME, IT WAS OKAY AFTER I LET IT SIT FOR 1/2 HOUR. LAST WEEK, WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR, IT FAILED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT 8 MILES AND PARKED IT AT THE DEALER. THEY COULDN'T SCEDULE IT TIL MARCH. I HAD TO GO HOME 20 MILES AWAY. WHEN I GOT BACK IN, IT WAS OKAY. HAS THERE BEEN A RECALL? OR SHOULD I HAVE MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT?

2011 FORD FUSION. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT APPEARED MANY TIMES WHEN STARTED THE VEHICLE. THE MESSAGE TENDS TO DISAPPEAR BY TURNING OFF/ON THE VEHICLE. ONE TIME STEERING LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AT 30MPH. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF/ON ON MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND THEN THE ISSUE DISAPPEARED. HAVE NO CONFIDENCE NOW IN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. OWN THIS VEHICLE FOR ONE YEAR AND 173100 MILE ON IT.
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY THREE CHILDREN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. I COULD NOT PARK ON THE STREET AS THE LACK OF POWER STEERING MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE. ONCE PARKED WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED TO LOOK INTO POSSIBLE PROBLEMS.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT BEGAN TO APPEAR RANDOMLY, SAME AS DESCRIBED FOR THE OTHER RECENT COMPLAINTS. USUALLY CAN BE CLEARED BY TURNING OFF/ON, BUT A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE IF IT OCCURS WHILE DRIVING.
AIRBAG: TOOK CAR IN FOR PASSENGER AIR BAG RECALL, GOT THE CAR BACK AND NOW THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME. IT WAS FINE TILL THE RECALL ISSUE FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. FUEL SYSTEM: EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK (I NEVER TOP OFF), MY CAR STALLS OUR OR BUCKS. AFTER 40 OR SO MILES IT WONT DO IT ANYMORE UNTIL I FILL UP AGAIN. I'VE EVEN HAD IT STALL GOING 40 MPH.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, I WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN. THERE WAS SNOW ON THE ROAD AND THE ABS KICKED IN, AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. SINCE THEN THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR EVERY TIME I USE THE BRAKES.
WHILE IN MOTION, THE VEHICLES POWERED STEERING GAVE OUT - WITH THE FAILURE OF 'SERVICE ADVANCED TRACK'. TURNING THE WHEEL BECOMES NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE - IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. OFTEN, BEFORE THE 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK' FAILURE, WHEN STARTING UP THE CAR, IF I STARTED TURNING IT WOULD FLASH A WARNING RELATED TO THE STEERING - I HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT 5 SECONDS BEFORE TURNING. I'VE TOLD VARIOUS MECHANIC SHOPS ABOUT THIS ISSUE (WHEN INTERMITTENT) AND THEY WERE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE IT. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE YEARS AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING LEANS SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. THE 'SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK' FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ONCE IN THE PAST AND THE RESOLUTION WAS QUITE EXPENSIVE / UNWIELDY ($2K) - IT INVOLVED REPLACING THE AXLE, AMONGST OTHER COMPONENTS, THAT WERE DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THE STEERING ISSUES. THIS OCCURRING TWICE, IN BOTH CASES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE (POSSIBLY UNDER HIGHWAY CONDITIONS), HAS BEEN EXCEEDINGLY WORRISOME & STRESSFUL. IN AN INSTANT, TURNING REQUIRES A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF EFFORT - I AM CERTAIN, IN SOME SITUATIONS, THIS SUDDEN STEERING FAILURE WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN HORRENDOUS ACCIDENTS. THE FIRST TIME THE 'SERVICE ADVANCED TRACK' FAILURE OCCURRED: RESTARTING THE VEHICLE ALLOWED IT TO BECOME DRIVABLE - ENOUGH THAT I COULD BRING IT TO VARIOUS MECHANICS. I BELIEVE I WAS TOLD I COULD REPLACE BASICALLY THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM, FOR AN EXORBITANT PRICE, BUT, THE MECHANICS COULD NOT EVEN GUARANTEE IT WOULD FIX ANYTHING. THIS TIME, IT WAS WHOLLY UNDRIVABLE.. NOW THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED A SECOND TIME, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CONFIDENCE THAT THE ELECTRIC STEERING IN THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE - IT GENUINELY WORRIES ME THAT THIS VEHICLE IS ON THE ROAD. UNLESS FORD CAN WHOLLY DIAGNOSE, RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE, I WILL BE SELLING THE VEHICLE AND BUYING A NEW ONE - FOR MY SAFETY, MY PASSENGERS SAFETY & THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT - NO POWER STEERING IN CAR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN WALKER ROAD GOING ONTO DAY HOLLOW AND WHEN I GOT TO THE INTERSECTION THERE WAS NO STOP SIGN INDICATING TO STOP, WHEN I GOT THERE THE OTHER SIDE HAD NO STOP SIGN EITHER AND WHEN I CAME TO A STOP A CAR FLEW BY AS WE BOTH HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY, I HAVE DASH CAM VIDEO AND IF YOU DON'T FIX IT SOMEONE'S GONNA DIE RIGHT THERE. NOTHING ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO MY CAR.
FOLLOWING AN ABS BRAKE EVENT, MY BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOTED TO SINK SLOWLY TO THE FLOOR WHEN BRAKING. NO FLUID WAS LOST. I READ THE RECALL NOTICE DETAILS FOR THE HCU ON AN 2010 FUSION (19S54). FROM THIS, I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT IF I BRAKED ON GRAVEL, I COULD CAUSE THE ABS TO ACTIVATE AND CORRECT THE ISSUE. THAT WORKED GREAT FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, BUT WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR, THE SINKING PEDAL ISSUE RESUMED. SHE IS NOT AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER. I'D LIKE TO TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. I SEE THE INVESTIGATION 19S54 INCLUDED 2006 TO 2012 MODELS; HOWEVER, THE RECALL FOR SOME REASON ONLY COVERS TO 2010. WHAT'S UP? CAN I GO GET MY CAR FIXED? OR DO I NEED TO WAIT UNTIL MY DAUGHTER HAS AN ACCIDENT?
