TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DID NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000. *TT*JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE THROTTLE IN THE GAS PEDAL. THE WRENCH LIGHT ALSO CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY. FORTUNATELY, THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY SLOWED DOWN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE THE JERKING CONTINUED AND THE ENGINE REVVED IRRATIONALLY AROUND 1000-4000 RPMS. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF, THE CAR WAS RESTARTED AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY TEMPORARILY UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF DRIVE. THE WRENCH LIGHT DOES NOT APPEAR AGAIN BUT THE SLUGGISH ENGINE AND THE GRINDING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE ENGINE DO NOT APPEAR TO DISAPPEAR. THIS ISSUE APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON WITH MANY OTHER FORD FUSIONS WITH FAULTY THROTTLE BODIES. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS CAR HAD ITS THROTTLE BODY REPLACED PREVIOUSLY BUT STILL HAS THE SAME ISSUE. *JS
I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH, AND SLOWING DOWN TO ABOUT 25 MPH TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN TO ENTER A MERGE LANE, AND MY FUSION'S MESSAGE CENTER FLASHED "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" MESSAGES, FOLLOWED BY THE AUDIBLE CHIMES. I NOTICED A FAILURE OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM, AND IT REQUIRED GREAT STRENGTH AND EFFORT TO GET THE VEHICLE TO TURN RIGHT TO ENTER THE MERGE LANE, ALMOST TOOK ME INTO THE STANDARD LANE. STEERING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FROM THAT POINT ON, ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE, SAID THE PSCM HAD FAILED. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK BECAUSE ALL THE ELECTRONICS ARE INTEGRATED INTO IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
VEHICLE OVER ACCELERATED WHEN COMING TO A STOP. I PUT BOTH FEET ON BRAKES AND SHIFTED INTO PARK/NEUTRAL (HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES) AND CAR ACCELERATES TO OVER 7000 RPM AND AUTOMATICALLY GOES BACK DOWN TO NORMAL. I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY & MOTOR ASSEMBLY REPLACED (4/28/2014) YET IT HAPPENED AGAIN IMMEDIATELY UPON INITIAL DRIVE FROM FORD DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP KEPT MY CAR FOR 3 ADDITIONAL DAYS AND THEN ADVISED THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND I WAS TOLD (SALES GENERAL MANAGER) THAT WHAT I WAS REPORTING TO THEM "COULD NOT HAPPEN". *TR
DRIVING IN RAIN APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON TWO LANE BLACKTOP HIGHWAY CHIMING STARTED THEN ERROR CODES, "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" & "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" WARNINGS DISPLAYED ON DASH. STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO MANEUVER CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 10 MORE MINUTES. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR AN HOUR. I NEVER PULLED KEY FROM IGNITION. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, STEERING BECAME EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. I DROVE MY CAR APPROXIMATELY 2 MORE MILES AND THEN SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AGAIN. I WAITED APPROXIMATELY 2 MORE HOURS THIS TIME BEFORE RESTARTING MY VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I EXPERIENCED AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 35 MPH FOR 12 MILES TO REACH MY DESTINATION. THIS VEHICLE WAS THEN PARKED AND WILL BE TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY TO TROUBLE SHOOT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS THAT ARE IN THIS VEHICLE ON A REGULAR BASIS AND I AM TREMENDOUSLY CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY AND THAT OF OTHERS WHO COULD BE HARMED IF THIS INCIDENT SHOULD HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. I DRIVE 900 MILES A WEEK TO AND FROM MY JOB. I CAN NOT MORALLY PUT OTHERS AT RISK AND AFTER SEEING SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE, I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR AND ADDRESS IN A TIMELY FASHION BY RECALLING AND REPAIRING ANY NECESSARY PARTS AND LABOR BEFORE A SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY OCCURS. *TR
WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING GARAGE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND HIT THE CONCRETE PYLON BEFORE THE BRAKES WHICH WERE APPLIED STOPPED THE CAR. THERE WAS A LOT OF FRONT END DAMAGE BUT NO PERSONAL INJURIES. *JS
NOT SURE OF THE EXACT DATE OF THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED BUT I PUT IN THE CORRECT MONTH, HOWEVER THE SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN JUST FRIDAY FEB. 13, 2015 LESS THAN A YEAR FROM THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE POWER STEERING ON THE CAR JUST WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING, THIS TIME THERE WAS ICE ON THE ROAD AND I HAD MY 8YR OLD CHILD ON THE CAR. I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY DUE TO THE CAR STILL BEING UNDER WARRANTY AND SEEING THAT IT HAS BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR BEING REPAIRED I HOPE IT IS STILL COVERED. THERE HAS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS SYSTEM AND I HOPE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND/OR THE MAKER OF THIS PART FIND A WAY TO FIX IT. I HAVE OWNED FORDS/MERCURYS MOST OF MY DRIVING LIFE AND NEVER HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM LIKE THIS. *TR
WHEN LOOSENING MY LUG NUTS FOR A ROUTINE TIRE ROTATION, A WHEEL STUD BROKE OFF ON EACH OF MY FRONT TIRES, FOR A TOTAL OF TWO BROKEN STUDS. THE LAST TIME THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS TIGHTENED WAS AT FORD TO REPLACE A PREVIOUS BROKEN LUG NUT! FORD WOULD NOT REPLACE ALL OF MY WHEEL STUDS AT THAT TIME. RECALL #11V574000 (FORD RECALL #11S23) DOES NOT LIST THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF MY VEHICLE SO FORD WOULD NOT REPLACE ALL WHEEL STUDS! I FEEL LIKE I AM DRIVING IN A DEATH TRAP AND IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A WHEEL FALLS OFF WHILE DRIVING! NHTSA PLEASE HELP! PLEASE EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE ALL 2011 FORD FUSIONS REGARDLESS OF MANUFACTURING DATE. I HAVE NEVER USED AIR TOOLS ON THE WHEEL AND THE LUGS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TORQUED TO MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED SPECIFICATION (100 FT LBS). *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
WAS DRIVING AND PULLED UP TO A STOP LIGHT AND NOTICED A FOUL SMELL THAT SMELLED LIKE BRAKES FROM VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. PULLED INTO MY WORK AND THE SMELL GOT REALLY STRONG AND I NOTICED SOME SMOKE STARTING TO ROLL FROM THE TRUNK OF MY CAR. I OPENED THE TRUNK TO FIND THAT THE TRUNK HAD CAUGHT FIRE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BUT THE WHOLE LIGHT ASSEMBLY HAD BEEN BURNED ALONG WITH SOME WIRING AND THE MOLDING THAT HOUSES THE LIGHT ASSEMBLIES. RECALL ISSUED FOR FORD TAURUS BUT NOT FRO FUSION WITH SAME BAD PARTS. *TR
MY WIFE, [XXX], WAS DRIVING OUR FUSION. SHE HAD TRAVELED APPROX. 1/4 MILE AND WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT BAYSIDE DR. NEWPORT BEACH,CA AT THE HARBOR IS. DR. INTERSECTION. SUDDENLY, THE CAR ACCELERATED, CATCHING HER BY SURPRISE SHE WENT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND WAS NARROWLY MISSED BY TWO ONCOMING CARS. SHE TOLD ME LATER THAT IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME ON THE FREEWAY (SHE WAS ON HER WAY HOME) BUT WAS NOT IN IMMEDIATE DANGER WHEN IT OCCURRED. WE HAVE TRAVELED THESE STREETS SEVERAL TIMES. HAD JUST LEFT THE RESTAURANT WHERE WE HAD LUNCH....WAS RIDING MY BICYCLE HOME AND WATCHED HER GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION....VERY SCARY!! NOTE: THE THROTTLE POSITIONER WAS REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. IT HAD FAILED TO 5MPH. VILLA FORD IN ORANGE CA DID THE REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING OUR CAR, MY WIFE (ALONG WITH MY 9 MONTH OLD BABY GIRL) EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND SHAKING ENGINE. THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE SO SHE PULLED ONTO A SIDE STREET AND PARKED THE CAR, LEAVING THEM STRANDED. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON. THIS IS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED (MINUS THE LACK OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) IN THE "FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03" LETTER THAT WE RECEIVED A FEW MONTHS AGO. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, SO WE WERE ABLE TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE FORD DEALER. OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO PULL A CODE AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. THE DEALER, AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, REFUSE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY UNTIL THE CODE FOR MALFUNCTIONING THROTTLE BODY IS READ. MY WIFE AND INFANT DAUGHTER MUST NOW DRIVE AROUND (TWICE A DAY, 5 DAYS A WEEK) WAITING FOR IT TO FAIL AGAIN, AND TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT THE TIME OF MALFUNCTION. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS THE CAR WILL BARELY MOVE AND SHAKES SO BADLY. IT SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN ACROSS THE CITY TO THE DEALERSHIP IN THIS CONDITION, ESPECIALLY WITH A BABY IN THE CAR. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THESE PARTS AND REPLACE THEM ALL TO STOP PUTTING CUSTOMERS IN DANGER WITH CARS THAT BARELY MOVE. AS FOR THE "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM"? I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK MY SON WAS DRIVING ME WHEN THE POWER STEERING SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON WITHIN 10 MINUTES AFTER IT CAME ON MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING OR MY DAUGHTER WE WOULD OF NOT BEEN ABLE TO HANDLE THE CAR. I BOUGHT MY FUSION JUST 2 YEARS AGO AND I HAVE NO ISSUES WITH IT UNTIL NOW AND I GET THE FIRST WARNING LIGHT AND THEN NO POWER STEERING. I HAVE SEEN OTHER CONSUMER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AS ME AND I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY FORD HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ITS TO NEW OF A CAR FOR SOMETHING THIS MAJOR TO GO WRONG WITH IT. MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AROUND MARCH 27, 2014. I GOT IT FIXED ON APRIL 31, 2014 AND MAY 1, 2014. THEN ABOUT THIRTY DAYS LATER IT WENT OUT AGAIN SO NOW I HAVE TO PAY ONCE AGAIN TO GET IT FIXED. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE FORD FUSIONS YEARS 2006 TO 2013 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CAR TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION. *TR

AFTER ABOUT 3 WEEKS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED HAVING A HARD TIME STARTING IT WOULD TAKE 3 OR 4 TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD ACTUALLY START, THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 3/12/2014 THEN ON MAY 9TH, 2014 I WAS GOING TO FT WAYNE AND I LOST POWER IN THE VEHICLE PULLED OVER SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES (AND WAS LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE INTERSTATE) AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED. I WAS LATE ARRIVING TO WHERE I WAS GOING AFTER THE EVENT I GET IN MY CAR IT TAKES 5 TIMES TO START, AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTING I HEAD TO THE INTERSTATE IT IS 11PM I STOP FOR A CUP OF COFFEE GET BACK IN MY CAR AND IT WILL NOT START IT BACK FIRES I LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS OF TRYING THE VEHICLE STARTS AND I HEAD FOR HOME. I CALL THE SOUTHWORTH FORD IN MARION INDIANA AND NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THEY NEED TO DO A DIAGNOSTICS TEST AND IT WILL COST ME $80.00 TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG AND IF THERE IS A RECALL. (I HAVE ALREADY TALKED TO SOMEONE AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS A RECALL OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY) AND NOW ANOTHER PERSON IS TELLING ME IT WILL BE $80.00 TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I NEED THIS FIXED!!!! MY SON IS GETTING READY TO LEAVE FOR AFGHANISTAN THIS IS THE REASON I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE SO THAT I COULD GO AND SEE HIM OFF AND I WILL BE HAVING A 10 HOUR DRIVE. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN AND A TORQUE SENSOR WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I ENTERED MY CAR TO LEAVE WORK AND STARTED THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO PULL STRAIGHT THROUGH WITHOUT BACKING UP - WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW FOR THE EXIT OF THE PARKING LOT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKING POWER WAS BARELY EXISTENT. I TESTED IT IN THE PARKING LOT AGAIN AT A SLOW SPEED AND THE BRAKES IMPROVED BUT WERE STILL NOT WORKING AS THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CAREFULLY GET THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT HALFWAY THERE THEY STARTED WORKING AGAIN. DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY AN ISSUE OR COULDN'T REPLICATE IT. UPON RECEIVING MY CAR BACK THEY OPERATED AS INTENDED FOR A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS FOR AN ENTIRE WEEK. DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE BUT COULDN'T CLEARLY IDENTIFY THE CULPRIT FOR THE ISSUE. THEY ENDED UP MANUALLY FABRICATING A DEVICE TO TEST THE BRAKE HYDRAULICS. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE HYDRAULIC PUMP WITH A USED UNIT AND THEY CLAIMED THAT RESOLVED THE ISSUE. THEY SEEMED TO WORK FINE FOR A COUPLE DAYS AFTER THAT AND I THEN MOVED TO ANOTHER STATE AND WAS OUT OF TOWN FOR AN EXTENDED TIME FOR WORK. UPON RETURN AT THE END OF THE FIRST WEEK OF APRIL THE BRAKES EXHIBITED THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES OF THE CAR RUNNING AND IDLING AROUND MY DEVELOPMENT THE BRAKING FORCE CAME BACK. I DID NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THIS EVENT AND I WAS GONE FOR THE FOLLOWING TWO WEEKS FOR WORK. UPON RETURN AROUND THE MIDDLE OF APRIL THE BRAKES EXHIBITED THE SAME ISSUE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. AGAIN AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND IDLING AROUND MY DEVELOPMENT THE BRAKING FORCE WAS BACK UP. I WAS AGAIN OUT OF TOWN FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS BECAUSE OF WORK BUT PLAN TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED TOMORROW. I AM WORRIED THAT THE DEALERSHIP WON'T BE ABLE IDENTIFY THE ISSUE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE WARNING MESSAGE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" APPEARED AT WHICH TIME THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING THE CAR ALMOST INOPERABLE. AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL COULD NOT BE TURNED AT ALL. APPARENTLY THIS IS A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH 2010-2012 FORD FUSIONS AND IT IS AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS "KNOWN ISSUE." DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND SPEED, THE CAR JUST STOPPED BEING RESPONSIVE TO THE ACCELERATION PEDAL WITHOUT WARNING, THE MAINTENANCE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULL OVER TO A SAFE LOCATION, WHILE CARS WERE PULLING UP BEHIND ME VERY QUICKLY. AS THE CAR WAS LEFT IDLING IT BECAME VERY ROUGH, LIKE THE CAR WAS MISSING. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, I HAD TO TURN OFF THE CAR, WAIT THIRTY SECONDS TO A MINUTE AND START THE CAR AGAIN. THE CAR STARTED A LITTLE ROUGH BUT RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE MAINTENANCE WRENCH LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED AND NO OTHER WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR ABOUT A MONTH APART. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAD 23,214 MILES ON IT. LUCKILY BOTH TIMES IT HAPPENED ON A LOCAL STREET AND NOT ON A HIGHWAY. I AM FILING A FORMAL COMPLAINT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT SUDDEN AND REPEATED SURGING OCCURRING ON MY 2011 FORD FUSION. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR SURGED AS I WAS BRAKING, THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD. THE SURGE THREW THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 10 FEET BEFORE IT SLOWED. ENGINE POWER AND VEHICLE SPEED WOULD BE REDUCED. BECAUSE OF THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM, FORD IS OFFERING TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE THROTTLE BODY TO TEN YEARS. BATTERY, STARTER AND FLYWHEEL. FLYWHEEL MISSING TEETH POSSIBLY AFTER FAILED BATTERY. ORIGINALLY MY CAR WAS JUMP STARTED BY AAA 01/2014 DUE TO BATTERY FAILURE. WAS ADVISED TO GET BATTERY REPLACED. WHICH WAS RELUCTANTLY REPLACED BY FORD AT 36,805 01/2014. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS MAY HAVE TRIGGERED A NOISE THAT I IGNORED FOR A TIME, WHERE WHEN THE CAR WOULD START SOMETIMES IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE. IT WAS NOT EVERY START, BUT IT DID BECOME INCREASINGLY PRONOUNCED. IN MAY I FINALLY WENT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAID I HAD TEETH MISSING FROM THE STARTER AND FLY WHEEL AND THAT IT WAS MY FAULT FOR TRYING TO START THE CAR WHILE IT WAS RUNNING (THOUGH MY CAR HAS THE START LOCKOUT FEATURE). THE DEALER WANTED OVER $1700 TO REPLACE FLYWHEEL AND STARTER. OPENED A CASE WITH FORD AND THEY COVERED THE MAJORITY OF THE REPAIR, LEAVING ME WITH ABOUT A $450 DEDUCTIBLE. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS APPROVED, DEALER RE-CLASSIFIED THE PROBLEM AS THE STARTER STAYING ENGAGED WHICH DISTORTED THE FLYWHEEL. I RAISE THIS CASE, BECAUSE I THINK PERHAPS THE FAILED BATTERY COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE, BUT FURTHER THE REPLACEMENT BATTERY FAILED AGAIN IN 6/25/2017, WHICH I REPLACED AGAIN. ON MY 3RD BATTERY. MAY BE WORTH NOTING THAT MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH INTEGRATED NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND DISPLAY. COULD BATTERY FAILURE ALSO BE THE SOURCE OF REPEATED FAN BLOWER MOTOR ISSUE?

WHILE LOOKING FOR POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2011 FUSION (11K MILES) I DISCOVERED THERE IS MANY, MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. I WENT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND CALLED FORD AND ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND TRACE THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD ONLY HONOR THEIR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" CONCERNING THE THROTTLE BODY IF IT FAILS!!!!!! I EXPLAINED THAT I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IF THEY HAD AN UPDATED THROTTLE BODY AND "LIMP HOME" UPDATE THEY SHOULD INSTALL IT AND MAKE CORRECTIONS. A CALL TO FORD AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM. SO WHAT RECOURSE IS THERE?? MY FUSION AND F-350 ARE BOTH HEADED FOR TRADE AT A NO NONSENSE DEALER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED SIMULTANEOUSLY AS THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
