I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 35 MPH IRONICALLY HEADED TO AN AUTO STORE WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE WARNING SAID "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW." I HAD MY WIFE AND KIDS WITH ME AT THE TIME, AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME BECAUSE THE WHEEL WAS SO HARD TO TURN THAT MY WIFE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN IT. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE SHOP WHERE ONLY A FORD MECHANIC CAN ORDER THE PART TO THE PRICE OF $1,300 NOT INCLUDING LABOR. I THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A RELIABLE CAR BUT I WAS WRONG. WHAT CAR'S POWER STEERING GOES OUT SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY DOES AND HAS TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE ONLY A FORD MECHANIC CAN FIX IT? A FORD FUSION. IT LOOKS LIKE THEY WANTED MORE MONEY AND MADE A CHEAP CAR THAT WOULD BREAK DOWN SO YOU HAD TO TAKE IT BACK TO THEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING 40 - 45 MPH AND SUDDENLY I LOST ACCELERATION AND THE CAR STALLED. IT SEEMED TO HAVE FELL OUT OF GEAR AS THE CAR DID NOT 'DIE', THERE WAS NO LONGER ANY RESPONSE IN THE GAS PEDAL. I UTILIZED WHAT REMAINING SPEED I HAD TO NAVIGATE TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND COULD DRIVE AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES ON THE WAY HOME (TOTAL DISTANCE FROM FIRST FAILURE TO 3RD FAILURE WAS LESS THAN 2 MILES). EACH TIME THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE 'WRENCH' / CHECK ENGINE LINE DOES NOT RETURN. I HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP TODAY, HOWEVER AFTER READING THE COUNTLESS EXPERIENCES OF THE SAME EXACT ORDEAL, I FELT IT NECESSARY TO CAPTURE THIS INCIDENT HERE. LOST POWER STEERING. TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY. WAS TOLD THE RACK & PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WAS TOLD NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME $1136 FOR THE PART AND $450 TO INSTALL. HAD THE ERROR CODE ERASED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE LOSING POWER STEERING AGAIN. FOUND THE PART AT A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE FOR $476 AND IF I RETURN THE DEFECTIVE PART I GET $170 BACK. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM & FORD IS RECALLING THE 2013 FOR THE SAME REASON. *TR
CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. LOST ALMOST ALL POWER. WILL MOVE ON FLAT ROAD WITH LIMITED RPM ABOUT 1000. NO POWER AND CAR SHAKES WHILE MOVING. THIS REPEAT OF WHAT HAPPEN YEAR BACK WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH - LOST POWER. AT THAT TIME DEALER CHANGE THROTTLE BODY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IN LESS THAT YEAR I SEE SAME SYSTEMS AND CAR IS BACK TO DEALER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, FIRST MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN I DROVE A LITTLE FARTHER AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR POWERED DOWN TO 5 MPH. I HAD IT TOWED AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY, AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT ITS THE THROTTLE BODY. I SEE ALL THESE COMPLAINTS AND IT ENRAGES ME THAT SOMETHING HAS NOT BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS, I COULD HAVE CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT DUE TO TRYING TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THEY NEED TO HURRY UP AND DO A RECALL SO SOMEONE ELSE DOESNT GET STUCK HAVING TO SHELL OUT $420 DOLLARS LIKE I DID. *TR
I WAS TURNING AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF AND HARD TO TURN. THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH IS SHOWING "SERVICE THE POWER STEERING NOW". *TR
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN SLOWLY TO PARKING AREA WHEN IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND ENGINE KEPT REVVING UP AND IT LUNGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A LARGE TREE, DEMOLISHING THE FRONT END. THE FORD PARTS PERFORMED EXACTLY AS THEY SHOULD HAVE, PREVENTING DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD OR CABIN AREA, BUT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED BUT WAS SHAKEN UP BY THE ACCIDENT. UPON INSPECTION BY THE BODY SHOP AND MECHANIC, THE LINKAGE WAS BROKEN AND DAMAGED AND NEEDS FURTHER INVESTIGATION TO SEE IF A DEFECT IN THE LINKAGE WAS A CAUSE OR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END IS SUBSTANTIAL AND ESTIMATED IN EXCESS OF $8,000 WITH THE SEEN DAMAGE THUS FAR. *TR
IN THE BEGINNING OF DECEMBER WHILE DRIVING MY FRIENDS HOME MY FUSION SUDDENLY JOLTED AND THEN I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE SERVICE WRENCH DISPLAYED AND I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN A NEIGHBORHOOD. A FEW WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, WHICH SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY WAY IT WILL ALLOW ME TO DRIVE. FAST FORWARD TO JANUARY AND I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLES AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR JOLTED AND LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE HIGHWAY I DRIVE ON IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND HAS NO SHOULDER. IMAGINE IF IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A BUSY NIGHT AND I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 8 TIMES. SEEMS LIKE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED WITH 34,000 MILES ON IT AND HAVE TO DRIVE A LOT FOR WORK. *TR
MY 2011 FORD FUSION SPORT AWD LOST POWER ON THE PITTSBURGH PARKWAY AFTER LEAVING A HOCKEY GAME LAST NIGHT. I WAS DRIVING, AND WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASH. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS, WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING THE FIRST TIME. AS MY SPEED LOWERED, I TRIED CROSSING 2 LANES TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, SHUT THE KEY OFF, AND TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR WITH NO LUCK. (THIS WORKED THE FIRST TIME). I FINALLY GOT TO A BERM, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, PRAYED, AND IT RESTARTED AFTER THE SECOND TRY. I MADE IT HOME WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS, BUT I THINK I LOST 20 YEARS OF MY LIFE PRAYING THAT I DIDN'T GET HIT ON THE PARKWAY. MY CAR HAS 39K CURRENTLY. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY, IF IT HASN'T ALREADY! *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND LOST POWER STEERING ADVANCE TRAC WARNING AND SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW WENT ON. SHE WENT INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER EST COST WAS 2800 DOLLARS FOR NEW RACK FOR STEERING. WAS TOLD THE INTERNALS WERE DAMAGED. NOT HAPPY AND I WASN'T SURE THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. ARGUED WITH THEM AND TOLD THEM THEY WERE WRONG AND REFUSED REPAIR BUT WAS STILL CHARGED A DIAGNOSIS FEE. BROUGHT CAR HOME AND TOOK THE WHEELS OFF AND CLEANED EVERY THING THAT HAS TO DO WITH STEERING AND TRACTION. I NOW HAVE POWER STEERING. BAD DESIGN ON THIS CAR THE SENSORS WILL PICK UP A PROBLEM AND TURN ITEMS OFF TO PROTECT THEM FROM OVERHEATING. I HOPE THIS HELPS OTHERS DON'T TRUST YOUR FORD DEALER THEY WILL TAKE YOU FOR THE MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES PREVIOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,950. ... UPDATED 03/24/14 *BF THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE DEALER NO TO REPLACE ANY PARTS. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK, WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. IN ADDITION, THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OCCURRED ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, TWO OF WHICH WERE AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. UPDATED 06/03/14
WAS PULLING INTO DRIVE WAY. AS SOON AS STRAIGHTENED OUT THE WHEELS, STEERING LOCKED UP. I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEELS NONE AT ALL. THEY WERE LOCKED IN THE LAST POSITION THEY WERE IN BEFORE THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP. IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN ALSO. LOCKED UP AND CANNOT BUDGE THE STEERING. LOOKED ON LINE AND HAVE SEEN WHERE THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF FORD FUSIONS. NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF NOT ALREADY! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE WRENCH WARNING ICON ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR BARELY 2 YEARS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAVE NO STEERING AT ALL. IF IT IS AN EXTREMELY COLD DAY IT MAY WORK OK BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I DID RESEARCH AND WAS TOLD IT IS ELECTRIC STEERING AND WILL COST ROUGHLY $2000.00 TO FIX. THIS CAR IS TOO NEW TO HAVE THAT KIND OF PROBLEM. DURING MY SEARCH I HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME THING AND THERE WAS AN ACTUAL RECALL FOR THE 2013 FUSIONS WITH THIS PROBLEM. NOT SURE WHY THE 2011 HASN'T ALSO BEEN RECALLED. I AM STILL RESEARCHING THAT BECAUSE I DEFINITELY CAN'T AFFORD $2,000 OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE ON MY VEHICLE RIGHT NOW. *TR
I WAS GOING ABOUT 55 MPH AND LOST ALL STEERING ABILITY, THE SERVICE POWERSTEERING NOW LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ALL ABILITY TO STEER. I ALMOST CRASHED. ALSO ALONG WITH THAT MESSAGE ANOTHER MESSAGE SAYING TO SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC NOW. THE POWER STEERING IS A TOTAL LOST. I TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND THERE IS NOTHING. ALSO ABOUT 3000 MILES AGO THE SAME MESSAGE WITH THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC WITH A MESSAGE SAYING POWERSTEERING FAULT. THEN I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND IT WAS FINE UP UNTIL THE LAST INCIDENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION I LOST ALL POWER STEERING TO THE VEHICLE. I COULDN'T CONTROL THE STEERING AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF TO SEE IF THIS RESOLVED IT. THIS HAPPENED TWO OTHER TIMES, AND THE ISSUE RESOLVED ITSELF AFTER I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON. THIS LAST TIME WAS A DIFFERENT STORY. THE POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT, AND IT HAS NEVER COME BACK. I WAS DRIVING TO A RESTAURANT, AND GOT MY VEHICLE PARKED OKAY, AND I THOUGHT THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE RESOLVED AFTER I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON. THIS TIME IT DIDN'T. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED HOME! (THIS WAS THE OCCURRENCE ON OCTOBER 28, 2014. I HAVE HAD MY BATTERY CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THAT IT IS NOT LOSING POWER, BUT THE POWER STEERING IS STILL OUT! I'VE SEEN LOTS OF REPORTS ABOUT THIS, AND AM HOPING FOR A RECALL. I CANNOT AFFORD TO GET THIS FIXED IF IT COSTS AS MUCH AS SOME OF THE OTHER POSTS SAY (UPWARDS OF $2,000.00 TO FIX IT) FORD NEEDS TO HELP ALL OF THESE CUSTOMERS NOW! *TR
TRAVELING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND LOST POWER WITH NO WARNING. COASTED TO A STOP WITH ENGINE AT A ROUGH IDLE ONLY. ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD NO EFFECT ON ENGINE RPM. HAD VEHICLE TOWED THE MY FORD DEALERSHIP WHICH DIAGNOSED A FAILED "DRIVE BY WIRE" THROTTLE BODY. I ONLY HAVE 37,400 MILES ON THE CAR AND YES 1,400 PAST THE WARRANTY (CONVENIENT $ FOR FORD). THIS FAILED COMPONENT AT 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSED SEVERAL MOMENTS OF ANXIETY UNTIL I GOT SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. *TR
BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE THE SECOND MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I COULD NOT CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF THE CAR. I ENDED UP ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD OFF THE SHOULDER BEFORE I COULD STOP IT. IT HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. CAR DIES FOR NO REASON. I END UP HAVING IT TOWED OR RESTARTED BY CHARGING BATTERY. THE BATTERY ALWAYS HAS A FULL CHARGE. ALSO I HAVE BEEN SHOPPING AND GET IN THE CAR TO START IT AND IT WILL NOT START. DOOR HANDLES WOULD NOT WORK FROM INSIDE. WINDOWS WOULD NOT OPEN. HAD TO FORCE WINDOW DOWN ENOUGH TO OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. HAD FRONT DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLE REPLACED HAD TRANSFER CASE RESEALED HORRIBLE SMELL, NEW TIRES 3 TIMES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED HAD REAR DRIVE SHAFT REPLACED, FUEL PUMP REPLACED HAD TAKEN IT TO FORD JUST RECENTLY FOR WHAT I DEEMED WAS COMPUTER PROBLEMS, OF COURSE THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THE LAST TIME I HAD NEW TIRES PUT ON THE CAR THAT I WOULD NEED NEW RIMS SOON. THE RIMS ARE ERODING FROM THE INSIDE OUT. I HAVE SEVERAL INVOICES FOR WORK THAT WAS DONE AND A FEW MORE I CAN'T LOCATE AT THIS TIME. I WOULD LIKE TO SEND THEM ALL TO YOU. PURCHASE CAR 12/1/12.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST SPEED COMPLETELY AND THE WRENCH LIGHT TURNED ON. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE DRIVING FAST ENOUGH AND IN THE RIGHT LANE AND SO WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE FREEWAY BUT THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY SLOW, NOT EVEN 1MPH. IT DID BEGIN TO SHAKE WHILE SLOWING DOWN. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION. HAD I BEEN IN THE LEFT LANE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE MYSELF OFF THE FREEWAY SAFELY. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILURE. *TR
I WAS ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AND THE CAR JUST SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. I MANAGED TO COAST OFF THE FREEWAY AND WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP BUT SHUT OFF AGAIN TWO BLOCKS DOWN THE ROAD. IT CONTINUED TO SHUT OFF ALL THE WAY TO MY MECHANICS SHOP. MY MECHANIC FOUND THE ISSUE TO BE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. HE ADVISED ME THAT IF THE ISSUE PERSISTED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO GO TO FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMED. *TR
DRIVING ON FREEWAY THE CAR WENT LIMP AND LOST SPEED WITHOUT RESPONDING TO GAS PEDAL. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE, FIRST TIME YESTERDAY ON THE FREEWAY, SECOND TIME TODAY WHILE ON FREEWAY GOING TO WORK. ONCE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE ENGINE, IT CAR STARTED UP AGAIN AND RAN. *TR
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE THE AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JOLTED FORWARD CRASHING INTO A POST. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON INDICATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM. WE HAVE REPORTED TO FORD ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THAT THE CAR SURGES WHEN COMING TO A STOP. WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING WITHOUT AN ERROR CODE. AFTER THE INSURANCE COMPANY REPAIRED THE CAR WE DROVE IT TO FORD. UNFORTUNATELY WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ERROR CODE WILL CLEAR AFTER DRIVING A "COMPLETE CYCLE" OR "RUNNING A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT". BOTH WERE COMPLETED AND FORD REPAIR TECH'S SAY THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT WITHOUT A CODE THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I OWN 2 FORD 2011 FUSIONS. THE OTHER CAR HAD AN ISSUE WHERE IT WOULD FREQUENTLY STALL OR GO "LIMP" AS FORD CALLS IT. MUCH LIKE THE SURGES WE HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH THIS VEHICLE, I HAD NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THIS OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. FINALLY IT WENT "LIMP" GETTING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT INTO FORD A FEW DAYS LATER. THE LIGHT WAS OFF BUT THEY WERE ABLE TO RECOVER THE CODE. I BELIEVE THERE IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTERIZE THROTTLE CONTROL IN THESE VEHICLES AND A RECALL IS IN ORDER. WE ARE LUCKY THAT THE DRIVER DID NOT GET INJURED. THE AIRBAG DID NO DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY A POST THAT CUT THROUGH THE BUMPER AND DAMAGED UP TO THE RADIATOR. AS PART OF THE RESEARCH DONE I BELIEVE A DETAILED ANALYSIS OF HOW THE ERROR CODES ARE STORED SHOULD BE DONE. IF THE CARS COMPUTER CAN CLEAR ERRORS THERE IS LIMITED EVIDENCE/DOCUMENTATION OF PROBLEMS. THIS APPEARS TO ME AS A "FEATURE" TO ELIMINATE ANY TRACE OF AN ISSUE. *TR
THE ERROR OCCURRED AS I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR 8-LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABOUT A QUARTER-MILE FROM MY EXIT (AFTER BEING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 60 MILES) WHEN I FELT A "CLUNK" AND AN ORANGE-LIT WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASH. AS I TURNED ONTO THE EXIT RAMP, I SLOWED TO A STOP AT A STOP-LIGHT, WAITING TO TURN LEFT. WHILE THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED, THE CAR WAS ATTEMPTING TO MOVE FORWARD VERY ABRUPTLY, AS PART OF IT'S "LIMP HOME" FEATURE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I RELEASED THE BRAKE AND ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, BUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL PRODUCED NO RESPONSE FROM THE CAR. AFTER LIMPING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, I SHIFTED THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER WAITING 10-15 SECONDS, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE THROTTLE ISSUE AND DASH LIGHT WERE BOTH GONE. I HAVE SINCE DRIVEN ~100 MILES WITHOUT SEEING THE ISSUE RE-APPEAR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWNTOWN AND NEXT THING I KNOW MY WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON AND I LOSE ALL POWER TO MY FORD FUSION. I WAS SCARED BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. I WOULD HAVE TO SAY ITS HAPPENED AT LEAST 15 TIMES IN THOSE 3 WEEKS. I AM STARTING TO GET ANNOYED WITH THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONSTANTLY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY CAR, YET I KNOW THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN ON 11/26/2013 AND WHEN IT DID MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT SO I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR THEM TO CHECK THE ENGINE LIGHT CODE AND THE CODE WAS P2111 AND THE DESCRIPTION IT GAVE WAS THAT THE THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM WAS STUCK OPEN. I NOW HAVE PROOF TO TAKE TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THEY BETTER FIX THIS PROBLEM! *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH, I BEGAN TO EXIT AND CAME DOWN TO 40. ONCE I STARTED TO SLOW DOWN I FELT THE CAR TUG, IT WAS ODD BECAUSE IT HAD NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE BUT I FINISHED EXITING AND TRIED TO PICK UP SPEED AGAIN BUT COULDN'T. LUCKILY THERE WERE MANY BUSINESSES TO MY RIGHT TO WHERE I WAS ABLE TO PARK SAFELY, IF I WAS STILL ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE THIS HAPPENED I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN REAR ENDED OR WORSE BECAUSE THE CAR SLOWED ON ITS OWN AND I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE GAS. AS I PULLED OVER THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE, I TURNED IT OFF QUICKLY AND CALLED FOR HELP. A RELATIVE CAME TO MY AID TO CHECK IT OUT BUT WE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING VISIBLE, WE CAUTIOUSLY TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND THE WRENCH SIGNAL TURNED OFF, NO MORE SHAKING, IT WAS ODD THAT IT JUST COMPLETELY LOST POWER A FEW MINUTES PRIOR AND NOW IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. WE DROVE IT AROUND THE PARKING LOT TO TEST IT, DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE IT BEHIND DUE TO THE AREA AND POSSIBILITY OF THEFT, ALSO COULD NOT AFFORD A WRECKER TO PICK IT UP. I ENDED UP HEADING BACK HOME WITH MY RELATIVE BEHIND ME. IT WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE, I'M SO GLAD IT WAS MYSELF AND NOT MY WIFE AND KIDS AS THIS IS HER VEHICLE. TODAY ON NOVEMBER 14 MY DEALER FOUND A CODE INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC-THROTTLE BODY WHICH THEY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ALSO CLEANED THE FUEL SYSTEM FOR WHICH I WAS CHARGED $137 BECAUSE THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY NOT COVERED UNDER FORD'S WARRANTY. I HAVE A 2011 FORD ESCAPE WHICH CAN ALSO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. LUCKILY, THE SIX VEHICLES BEHIND HER WERE ABLE TO STOP, AVOIDING A CHAIN REACTION ACCIDENT. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE NOVEMBER 4, 2013 WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. WHEN I SPOKE TO THE TECHNICIAN, HE MENTIONED THAT THE TRANSMISSION "DISINTEGRATED" INTERNALLY AND THE ONLY TWO OPTIONS WE HAD WERE TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION PART BY PART, OR ORDER A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE IS NOT EVEN THREE YEARS OLD! THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED. LUCKY ME, I HAPPENED TO HAVE TWO OF THESE FAILED DESIGNED VEHICLES. MY WIFE HAS A 2010 THAT DEVELOPED THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS AT 35000 MILES AND NOW MINE AT 87500 MILES. THE 2010 LEFT HER STRANDED WITH ZERO ENGINE POWER, IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY ROADS A TOTAL OF TWO TIMES BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP (PALM COAST FORD) ON THE THIRD VISIT DECIDED THAT JUST CLEANING AND SPRAYING DOWN THE FAILING HARDWARE DIDN'T CUT IT AND FINALLY PUT A NEW ONE ON, LUCKILY STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE MECHANIC DID HOWEVER SAY THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THESE FORD PRODUCTS AND THAT THE SAME THING WOULD PROBABLY HAPPEN TO THE THROTTLE BODY HE JUST PUT ON. WELL ONCE AGAIN LIKE MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME FORD FAILURE EXPERIENCE I ALMOST WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE OF NO WHERE TO PULL OVER. I WILL PURCHASE THE PART AND REPLACE IT MYSELF. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE THROTTLE BODY GOING BAD, AND THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THEY HAD DONE HUNDREDS OF THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENTS FOR FUSIONS, AND THAT AN ATTEMPT TO HAVE A RECALL IS GOING ON. I WAS EXTREMELY FORTUNATELY TO NOT BE REAR-ENDED WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY CRASH, AND IT WAS TERRIFYING TRYING TO CROSS THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH THE CAR BARELY MOVING AS IT LOST ALL POWER IN LESS THAN 10 SECONDS EACH TIME. *TR

WHEN I REALIZED I WASN'T MOVING I HIT THE HAZARD BUTTON AND BRACED MYSELF FOR IMPACT AS CARS WERE SWERVING AROUND BOTH SIDES OF ME. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT IT OFF, AND TRIED TO RE-START IT. IT DID NOT START RIGHT AWAY, BUT WHEN IT DID I REVVED THE ENGINE, PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD. I RESTARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND PROCEEDED TO WORK. I LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE, YET IT IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE AT THIS POINT IN TIME. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE YESTERDAY, IT SEEMS NEGLIGENT THAT THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE HAS NOT YET WARRANTED AN ACTION FOR A RECALL. IT APPEARS A LOT OF THESE ARE BEING REPORTED FOR THE FUSION V6 SEL MODEL. I HAD THE REPAIR DONE AT HUNTINGTON FORD IN ROCHESTER MI. AND PAID $550 FOR THE REPAIR. I HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS IF NEEDED FOR ANYTHING. *TR
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. MESSAGES SHOW POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCETRAC. ADVANTRAC LED IS LIT ON CONSOLE. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT STARTED ON 10/23/2013 AT 69,000 MILES UNTIL IT FINALLY FAILED COMPLETELY ON 7/14/2014 AT 86,700 MILES. BETWEEN OCTOBER, 2013 AND JULY, 2014, IT COULD FAIL AT ANY MOMENT AT ANY SPEED. THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 30 INSTANCES OF POWER STEERING LOSS DURING THIS TIME. I FOUND OUT THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR, TURNED IT OFF, AND RESTARTED. IT WOULD CLEAR THE MESSAGES AND THE POWER STEERING WOULD WORK FINE UNTIL THE NEXT INCIDENT. MY FORD DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX IT UNTIL THEY GOT THE FAULT CODE. I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IN WHEN IT WAS IN THE FAILED STATE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT DIDN'T CONVENIENTLY FAIL WHEN I WAS NEAR MY FORD DEALER DURING BUSINESS HOURS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT MANY OTHER FORD FUSION DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED. IT WAS VERY STRESSFUL DRIVING THE CAR WITHOUT POWER STEERING. THE CODE FAULT IS C200D. THE STEERING RACK (AE5Z*3504*CE) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. MY FORD DEALER PROVIDED SOME REIMBURSEMENT, BUT I THINK THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL TO COVER ALL COSTS BECAUSE IT WAS A KNOWN A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ON EXPLORER AND ESCAPE, BUT NOT FUSION. WHY NOT? IT'S OKAY FOR FUSION OWNERS TO DRIVE WITH AN INCREASE RISK OF CRASHING, BUT NOT EXPLORER OR ESCAPE OWNERS? THE CAR IS AWFUL TO DRIVE WITHOUT POWER STEERING ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. *TR
I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND MADE IT ABOUT 40 YARDS WHEN THE CAR LURCHED TWICE AND SHUT OFF. I LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT BACK UP. WAS ABLE TO GO ABOUT A QUARTER OF A MILE AND IT DIED AGAIN. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS TOO AFRAID TO TRY TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE. LUCKILY I WAS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND WAS NOT ON A BUSY ROAD OR A HIGHWAY LIKE SO MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. I WAS ALSO VERY FORTUNATE THAT I DID NOT HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME - ONE WHO IS CURRENTLY RECOVERING FROM SURGERY AND CANNOT WALK. AFTER DOING RESEARCH AND FINDING THE VERY COMMON ISSUES WITH THE FUSION, I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE THROTTLE WHEN RUNNING THE DIAGNOSTICS. SURE ENOUGH, THAT WAS THE REASON. $450+ AFTER THE REPAIRS AND THE TOW. MY CAR ONLY HAS 41,000 MILES ON IT, BUT IS UNFORTUNATELY OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. FORD SHOULD STEP UP AND PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS DUE TO THE DANGEROUS AND FATAL ISSUES THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE. I'M VERY NERVOUS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND AM SHOCKED THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL AFTER SO MANY REPORTED INCIDENTS. I'M CONSIDERING SELLING THIS CAR - I PLANNED TO KEEP IT FOR MANY YEARS, BUT MY SAFETY AND MY FAMILIES IS MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. I WOULD URGE THAT THERE BE A RECALL ON THIS EXTREMELY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM BEING EXPERIENCED SO FREQUENTLY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WHEN MY IDLE AND RPM WENT DOWN AND I KEPT PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE (WARNING WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED). I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC AND I NEARLY GOT HIT IN THE REAR BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND GOT OUT MY MANUAL WHICH SAID SOMETHING ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY. I TURNED ON THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE SO I TOOK THE BACK ROAD HOME (NITETIME) AND WENT ABOUT 10 MILES AND PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOME. WENT OUT IN THE MORNING (SUNDAYOCTOBER 20) AND WAS GOING TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER TO LEAVE OVERNITE, GOT A MILE FROM MY HOME AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 DAYS. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE JUST QUITS, OR WHILE IDLING AT A RED LIGHT , IT JUST STALLS. THE YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. IT RESTARTS, BUT THIS IS VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AT 30-40 MPH. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME WHEN IT HAPPENED AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WHEN THE ENGINE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT HOME, BUT IT HAPPENED 5 TIMES ON THE 8 MINUTE DRIVE HOME. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FORD. I REACHED OUT TO FORD MOTOR CORP BY EMAIL AND THEIR RESPONSE TO ME WAS BASICALLY, "HATE THAT FOR YOU, WE'RE NOT ISSUING A RECALL." FORD IS PERFECTLY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT CORPORATE GREED FAR OUTWEIGHS CONSUMER SAFETY AND THEY WON'T OWN UP TO THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE A SHODDY, AND DANGEROUS PRODUCT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9000.
AT 6:55AM ON INTERSTATE I-70 EAST IN KC MO I WAS DRIVING IN THE FAST LANE AT THE CORRECT SPEED OF 65 MPH ON MY WAY TO WORK AND MY WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE NEXT THING I KNEW MY CAR STARTED DOWN SHIFTING AND SHAKING UNTIL IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS BUT WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE CAUSE OF THE VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC AND I HAD A SEMI TRUCK BEHIND ME. I COULDN'T GET OVER BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY TRAFFIC AND HOW FAST MY CAR WENT FROM 65 TO ZERO IN MINUTES. ONCE I CAME TO A FULL STOP, I SHUT MY CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON WHICH AT THAT TIME IT ACTED FUNNY BUT THEN I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK.I AM A MOTHER OF 3 CHILDREN AND AT THAT MOMENT MY LIFE FLASHED BEFORE MY EYES. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP BLUE SPRINGS FORD AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE BEEN GETTING ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THAT ISSUE. HE SAID IT'S MORE THAN LIKELY THE THROTTLE SYSTEM AND THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS YET. MY QUESTION IS DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY MAKE THIS AN ISSUE????? I ALMOST GOT HIT BY 3 CARS AND A SEMI.
