WHEN TAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN OFF MAIN ROAD STEERING FROZE, WARNING BEEP SOUNDED AND POWER STEERING MESSAGE SHOWED ON DASHBOARD. THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT WITH THIS CAR, BUT MY WIFE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH HER 2011 FUSION ABOUT TWO WEEKS PRIOR. IT TOOK TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALER TO "FIX" THE PROBLEM. *TR
I READ WHERE THE NHTSA WAS LOOKING INTO ISSUES WITH FORD ENGINES FROM 2009-2011 IN FUSIONS & ESCAPES. THOUGHT I WOULD RELAY MY INCIDENT. TRAVELING ABOUT 55-60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING SLOWED TO A CRAWL ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WE WERE ABLE TO NURSE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. NOTICED A AMBER "WRENCH" WARNING LIGHT. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND RE-STARTED IT. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS. SINCE IT WAS A VERY HOT DAY, JUST ASSUMED IT WAS HEAT RELATED. HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES THAT WEEK-END (AT LOWER SPEEDS IN PARKING LOTS). TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND COULD NOT GET AN ERROR CODE. SEEMS LIKE THE LIGHT HAS TO ACTUALLY BE ON. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY (UNDER WARRANTY). HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANOTHER INCIDENT SINCE, HOWEVER THE GEARS SEEM TO SHIFT MUCH HARDER NOW, THOUGH NOT CONSTANT. IT'S A GREAT VEHICLE, BUT I ALWAYS HAVE THAT POWER LOSS IN MY MIND, PRAYING IT WONT OCCUR AGAIN. *TR
PULLING INTO TRAFFIC CAR LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON ENGINE STILL RUNNING STARTED SURGING OR IDLED UP AND DOWN HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND RESTART ACTED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED! NEXT DAY DIED TWICE MORE ENGINE LIGHT ON THIS TIME STAYED ON ALL DAY THEN WENT OFF AND NO CODE FOUND WENT A WEEK OR SO NO ISSUE TILL YESTERDAY 7/23/2011 DID IT TWICE ALMOST HIT IN REAR TWICE! IT ONLY HAS 37000 MILES HELP US THEY WANT EVEN LOOK UNTIL IT SHOWS A CODE! BUT MAY B TOO LATE THEN!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE POWERS STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANAGE THE VEHICLE BY EXITING THE ROADWAY. THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11, 000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. THE ELECTRONIC FAILURE WARNING LIGHTS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS EXPERIENCING A RECURRING FAILURE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WOULD RAPIDLY ACCELERATE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO UTILIZE EXTREME FORCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY REPLACED THE CONTROL SOFTWARE BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,800. UPDATED 08/28/12*LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
PULLED UP TO MCDONALD'S, PUT IN PARK, TOOK ORDERS FROM OTHER PEOPLE IN AUTO. GOT OUT OF AUTO TOOK ANOTHER ORDER FROM PASSENGERS, LEFT RUNNING, WENT INTO MCDONALD'S STOOD IN LINE, WHEN UP TO COUNTER TO ORDER FOOD, SOME YELLED " THAT CAR IS ROLLING BACKWARDS, IT WAS MY SISTERS 2011 FUSION, IT WAS PUT IN GEAR BEFORE WE WENT INTO RESTAURANT IT JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND ROLLED BACK INTO THE SIDE OF A WHITE TRUCK. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD AND THE PERSON SAID IT IS WAS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THAT TO HAPPEN, BUT IT DID. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT FROM SECOND TO THIRD GEAR WITH AN ABNORMALLY HARD JERKING MOTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED A FEW MOMENTS LATER AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED. THE CONTACT MOVED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING AND IDLING VERY HARD. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,033.

6/14/12 CAR WAS LOW ON FUEL, BUT NOT ON EMPTY AND MESSAGE INDICATED 32 MILES TO E. DRIVING UP HILL CAR LOST POWER, DID NOT DIE, MOVED VERY SLOWLY. ABLE TO GET OFF STREET INTO PARKING LOT OF RESTAURANT. CAR SEEMED TO REGAIN POWER, SO TRIED TO PULL BACK ON STREET GOING DOWN HILL, BUT AT EDGE OF LOT, I REALIZED THE BRAKES WERE NOT RESPONDING. I MANAGED TO AVOID CAR COMING AND WAS ABLE GET BACK INTO THE PARKING LOT AS PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT NOW SLIGHT SURGE OF SPEED BUT STILL NO BRAKES AND HIT RESTAURANT'S SIGN. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM AND BLAMED IT ALL ON LOW FUEL. ON 6/20 THIS TIME WITH TANK ALMOST FULL. HAD SAME PROBLEM, CAR SUDDENLY HAD NO POWER, BUT DID NOT DIE. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED IT OFF AND WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES. WHEN RESTARTED WENT ABOUT FOUR MILES AND HAPPENED AGAIN. STOPPED, TURNED OFF, RESTARTED AND WENT A LITTLE FURTHER, BUT NOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. FORTUNATELY, BOTH TIMES NOT GOING 60 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY NO POWER HAD TOWED TO DEALER AND THIS TIME, REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. SAID IT WAS AN UPDATED VERSION. IF THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM AND HAVE AN UPDATED VERSION, WHY IS THERE NO RECALL? I THINK THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. *JB
ON 6/7/12 WAS DRIVING CAR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, 30 SECONDS LATER, ENGINE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PURGE VALVE AND FUEL FILLER PIPE HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON 6/11/12, PICKED UP MY VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS CHARGED OVER $500 DOLLARS FOR THE SERVICE. 20 MINUTES LATER WHILE DRIVING ON I45 NORTH AT 65 MPH. SAME THING HAPPENED, CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF, HAD TO "COAST" TO THE SHOULDER AND AVOID ANY VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE, AGAIN, WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND MUST BE TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. THE FACT THAT I WAS CHARGED OVER $500 TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE AND FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN IS ABSURD. *TR
MY SISTER WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION TO GO OUT OF TOWN , WHEN GETTING BACK INTO TOWN, SHE PULLED INTO MACDONALDS, PUT SHIFT IN PARK. WHILE SITTING IN CAR, WE WERE TAKING FOOD ORDERS FROM PASSENGERS, ONE IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR AND ONE IN BACK PASSENGER SIDE. WE, MY SISTER WHO WAS DRIVING AND I WHO OWN THE CAR, GOT OUT OF AUTOMBILE , WE WENT INTO MACDONALDS STOOD IN LINE, WHEN WE GOT UP TO THE COUNTER TO ORDER, SOMEONE YELLED " THAT CAR IS ROLLING BACKWARDS" AND THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO THE SIDE OF A WHITE TRUCK, DAMANGING THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ON THE TRUCK, NO DAMAGE ON FORD FUSION. THE CAR WAS RUNNING AS TO LEAVE THE AIR CONDITIONER ON BECAUSE IT WAS SO HOT OUT. I WAS IN THE RESTURANT AND NOT EVEN NEAR THE FORD FUSION AT THE TIME OF ROLL BACK. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 53 YEARS AND KNOW WHEN A CAR IS IN GEAR, THIS FORD FUSION JUMPED OUT OF GEAR SOMEHOW, IT WAS IN GEAR. EVEN WHERE IT WAS PARKED WAS ON A SMALL INCLINE. WHEN TAKING THE FORD FUSION TO FORD DEALERS, I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD'NT HAVE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR, IT HAD TO HAVE NOT BEEN IN PARK. NOW REMEMBER THIS CAR WAS RUNNING WITH THE AIR ON, DIDN'T ROLL BACK WHEN WE WERE TAKING ORDERS FOR FOOD, AND THEN WE STOOD IN LINE IN THE RESTURANT BEFOR THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS. THIS WAS REPORTED AS AN ACCIDENT ON MY SISTER'S INSURANCE, HOW CAN THIS BE , HOW DO THEY KNOW I WASN'T GOING TO DRIVE MY CAR THE REST OF THE WAY HOME,WE WERE ONLY 1 MILE FROM HOME. AND BESIDES THE CAR DIDN'T EVEN ROLL BACK FOR APROXMONTEY 6 MINUTES. THIS HAS TO BE REPORTED AS SO IT DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. *TR
TURNING LEFT OFF MAIN ROAD WHEN POWER STEERING WENT AND MESSAGE SHOWED "ADVANCE TRACK PROBLEM AND POWER STEERING PROBLEM ". TURNED CAR OFF , RESTARTED AND CAR SEEMED OK. NO PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN MESSAGES SHOWED AGAIN. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP \. THEY KEPT IT OVER A WEEKEND AND THEN SAID IT WAS ALL FIXED., HAVING REPLACED SOME SMALL PARTS. SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT IT WAS "PROBABLY ONE IN A MILLION CARS THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM". FOLLOWING FRIDAY, HAD SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. CAR IS CURRENTLY IN DEALERSHIP. SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOW GOING TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SYSTEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT THE RED LIGHT STARTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGE AS I WAS TURNING MY STEERING FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE CAR TO BE HARD TO TURN, I PULLED OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT RESET ITSELF. ALSO WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE THE SAME HAPPEN HAD TO TURN OFF THE CAR TO RESET ITSELF. IT IS NOW AT THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT HAS NOT HAPPEN WHILE THEY HAVE BEEN DRIVING. *JS
2011 FORD FUSION -WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION, TACHOMETER STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN, TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON,FUEL GAGE GOING UP AND DOWN, A LOCK LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, BELLS WERE GOING OFF AND CAR BEGAN TO DE-ACCELERATE. WHEN I PULLED THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE FORD DEALER WHICH WAS CLOSE BY AT THE TIME AND HAD THE MANAGER VIEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. HE PULLED THE CAR INTO THE SHOP, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND IT NEVER RESTARTED. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF I WAS NOT ABLE TO REACT AS QUICKLY AS I DID. THE CAR HAS ONLY 37000 MILES. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY OCCURRING IN THIS VEHICLE FOR A YEAR NOW. MY CAR WILL RANDOMLY STALL OUT. THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND COME TO A ROUGH STOP. WHEN THIS HAPPENS A WRENCH COMES UP ON THE DASHBOARD. NOW WHEN THIS STARTED HAPPENING THE EVENTS WERE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN. RECENTLY ITS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND THIS HAPPENED TO ME 9 TIMES IN UNDER A MILE. WHEN I TAKE IT TO GET THE READOUT THE COMPUTER SAYS CODE P2112. *TR
"TAKATA RECALL". IN JUNE OF 2012 I PURCHASED A 2011 FORD FUSION. APPROXIMATELY JULY OF 2013 I WAS NOTIFIED BY FORD THAT MY VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. MY VEHICLE WAS TO BE FIX WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER I CALLED FORD TO FIND OUT WHY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT FIXED. I WAS TOLD BECAUSE I LIVED IN A COLD CLIENT (MASSACHUSETTS) THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD BE ONE OF THE LAST VEHICLE TO BE FIXED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. THEY ALSO TOLD ME NO ONE WAS TO SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BECAUSE THEY COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED IF THE AIRBAG EXPLODED. MY WIFE WHO IS 75 YEARS OLD A CANCER SURVIVOR HAS SAT IN THE BACK SEAT SINCE 2013. BECAUSE OF HER AGE AND HEALTH PROBLEMS SHE CAN NO LONGER SIT IN THE BACK SEAT. I HAVE CONTACT FORD SEVERAL TIME TO TELL THEM OF THIS PROBLEM. FOR RELIEF IN 2018 THEY ALLOWED ME A RENTAL CAR. APPROXIMATELY, 2 MONTHS LATER I WAS CONTACTED BY THE RENTAL AGENCY AND INFORMED ME THAT FORD WOULD NO LONGER PAY FOR THE RENTAL VEHICLE BECAUSE I SIGNED THEIR FORM AND ADDED (I DIDN'T GIVE UP MY RIGHT TO LEGAL ACTIONS BY SIGNING THIS FORM). BECAUSE I REFUSED TO GIVE UP MY LEGAL RIGHT THEY STOPPED THE RENTAL VEHICLE. FORD CASE NUMBER CAS-15314662 WAS ASSIGNED TO MY CASE AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING SINCE. MY WIFE AND MYSELF WHO ARE ELDER BOTH FEEL THIS TIMEFRAME IS RIDICULOUSLY LONG AND HAS CAUSES US MUCH DISCOMFORT, ANXIETY AND OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES WHEN WE WANT TO TRAVEL TOGETHER WE HAD TO TAKE SEPARATE VEHICLE OR BORROWED ONE OF OUR CHILDREN VEHICLE IN ORDER TO SIT COMFORTABLE AND BESIDE EACH OTHER.
WAS DRIVING ON I5 SOUTH TOWARD THE OFF-RAMP WHEN A THE FOLLOWING WARNING CAME ON SERVICE ADVANCETRAC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. THEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED THOUGH THE CAR WAS OTHERWISE RUNNING. THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND THE OFF-RAMP WAS A HARD CURVE. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. *TR
YESTERDAY, AS I WAS DRIVING UP AN ON RAMP, MY ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT AND ALARM CAME ON AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT AS THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BASICALLY FROZEN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND EVERYTHING SEEMED TO GO BACK TO NORMAL AND THE POWER STEERING WORKED. TODAY I TOOK IT TO A DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED. AT FIRST THEY TOLD ME MY CAR MUST HAVE STALLED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I INSISTED THE CAR DID NOT STALL OR TURN OFF OR DECELERATE AND THAT ONLY THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. LATER IN THE DAY THEY CONTACTED ME AFTER DISCUSSING THE PROBLEM WITH SOME PEERS, THEY REALIZED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND ASKED ME TO RETURN. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NEED THE POWER STEERING RACK REPLACED. I'M REALLY SURPRISED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL--IN DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH, I SEE THAT IT IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM WITH FUSIONS AND IT HAS HAPPENED TO QUITE A FEW PEOPLE. I SPOKE TO 2 COLLEAGUES TODAY WITH THE SAME CAR WHO ALSO HAD THEIR POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION. *TR
STARTED TO DRIVE AND SUDDENLY ERROR LIGHT MESSAGE OF POWER STEERING ASSIST NEEDS SERVICED, AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. LUCKILY I WAS GOING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED AND WAS NOT ON A MAJOR ROAD AT THE TIME. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LOCKS. ONE TWO OCCASIONS THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK HAS FAILED TO ENGAGE IN COLD WEATHER (APPROX 30 DEGREES). ONCE I WAS OUTSIDE THE CAR, THE KEYLESS ENTRY WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR, AND I TRIED THE PHYSICAL KEY. I WAS ABLE TO VERY SLOWLY TURN IT TO GET IN. HOWEVER, THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS *INSIDE* THE CAR AND COULD NOT GET OUT. THE ELECTRONIC LOCK SWITCH WOULD FAIL (THOUGH I DID HEAR IT TRYING TO WORK), AND THE MANUAL LEVER WAS LOOSE AND WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE DOOR. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF TRYING THE ELECTRONIC LOCK, THE DOOR FINALLY OPENED. THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND I THINK THE DOOR (OR ALL THE DOORS) SHOULD BE REPLACED SINCE THIS IS A LIFE AND SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE WAS NEARLY IDENTICAL TO COMPLAINT #10326963. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN CAR WOULD CUT OFF COMPLETELY GOING ABOUT 35 TO 40 MPH. MOST RECENT INCIDENT HAPPENED ON MOTHERS DAY DRIVING 35 MPH CAR SHUTTERED WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN I HIT THE GAS THE RPM WOULD GO VERY HIGH BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD MY FIANCE AND 7 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR AND ACCORDING TO MY FIANCE THE CAR DID THE SAME THING TO HIM A COUPLE DAYS PRIOR. THE CAR ONLY HAS 40K MILES ON IT AND THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY ALSO TOLD ME THE ONLY CODE THEY COULD RETRIEVE FROM THE COMPUTER ANALYSIS WAS RELATED TO THE CAR BEING STARTED WITH AN UNPROGRAMMED KEY. I QUESTIONED THEIR EXPLANATION, BUT TOOK THE CAR AND CONTINUED DRIVING IT. TODAY 8/30/2012, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65-70 MPH, A SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK AND POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE CAME ON, AND MY POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING!!! I CALLED THE DEALER, TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM, TOLD HIM IT WAS THE SECOND TIME I HAD HAD THE ISSUE, THAT I CONSIDERED IT A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT AN APPROPRIATE RESOLUTION. HE TOLD ME HE WOULD NEED TO KEEP MY CAR AND DRIVE IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS TO SEE IF HE COULD RECREATE THE PROBLEM. HE FURTHER TOLD ME THAT IF MY CAR WAS HOOKED UP TO DIAGNOSTICS AND AGAIN FAILED TO PROVIDE HIS TECHNICIAN WITH A REPAIR CODE THAT HE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING TO REPAIR MY CAR BECAUSE FORD WOULDN'T PAY HIM TO REPAIR IT. ONCE ON THE INTERNET I LITERALLY FOUND HUNDREDS OF THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINT, FOR 2010, 2011, 2012 FORD FUSIONS....ALL LEVELS INCLUDING HYBRIDS. I ALSO FOUND SIMILAR STORIES ABOUT DEALERS CLAIMING TO NEED TO DRIVE THE CARS TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, DEALERS CLAIMING NO CODE WAS PROVIDED DURING ANALYSIS, DEALERS ADMITTING THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT NOT BEING ABLE TO FIX THE CAR BECAUSE APPARENTLY THERE IS A LARGE BACK ORDER FOR THE PART. BOTTOM LINE, THE DEALERS KNOW IT HAPPENS, AND WHAT IS CAUSING IT, WORSE FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AND WHAT IS CAUSING IT. MY YOUNG DAUGHTER IS IN MY CAR AT LEAST 80% OF THE TIME. THE CONTACT HAD BEEN REPEATEDLY INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
TAKATA RECALL WE WERE NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL ABOUT 4 YRS AGO. FORD TOLD US IT WOULD BE A L O N G WAIT FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG PROBLEMS. EARLIER THIS YR WE WERE NOTIFIED THAT IT WOULD BE DONE LATER THIS YEAR. SINCE THEN, NOTHING HAS BEEN COMMUNICATED. THE PROBLEMS HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD FUSION SEL ON 880S IN SAN JOSE, CA, WHEN THERE WAS A SUDDEN SLOW DOWN IN TRAFFIC DUE TO AN EXIT RAMP BACKUP. I AGGRESSIVELY APPLIED THE BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING THE STOPPED VEHICLES IN MY LANE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO FLOOR WITH VERY LITTLE STOPPING POWER.
