I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A DIRT ROAD WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND MY STEERING WHEEL JERKED THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND I WENT OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DID DAMAGE TO MY FENDER. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM FOR WARRANTY FIX AND TO FIX MY FENDER AND THEY DENIED MY WORK AND WOULDN'T FIX THE POWER STEERING EVEN THOUGH THE CODE PO7AE AND U0415 CLEARLY CAME UP. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR FROM PARK, ALL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER. LET CAR RESET, AND ABLE TO TURN IT OVER. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP. NOT ABLE TO FIND CODES FOR PROBLEM. FUEL CANISTER REPAIRED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY DOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES AN HOUR.. CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR.. ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS SOME BEEPING NOISE.. THEN THE WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP ON ME.. I WAS THANKFUL I WAS ON A STRAIGHT ROAD.. I SLOWED DOWN AND THE CAR HAD A WARNING STATING THE POWER STEERING HAD FAILED.. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE.. SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE (PURCHASED BRAND NEW), THERE HAVE BEEN 5 POWER STEERING FAILURES.. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2012 FORD FUSION (2.5L 4 CYLINDER, 6 SPEED SPORT SHIFT TRANSMISSION) WILL SHIFT EXTREMELY HARD AND UNEXPECTEDLY AT BOTH LOW AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN BEGINNING TO SLOW, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY DROP INTO A LOW GEAR, THUS CAUSING A LOUD "CLUNK" SOUND AND THE CAR TO SUDDENLY SLOW (AS IF HITTING THE BRAKES HARD). AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN CLIMBING STEEP HILLS, THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION WILL HOLD AT A HIGH RPM AND NOT RELEASE, EVEN AFTER REACHING THE TOP OF THE HILL AND/OR ON THE DOWNWARD GRADE. I MUST BRAKE IN ORDER TO FOR THE CAR TO RELEASE FROM HITS HIGH REVELATIONS. I HAVE HAD THE CAR TO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AND EACH TIME, I AM TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING NORMALLY, AS MY CONCERNS APPARENTLY CANNOT BE REPLICATED. THE CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE. I FEAR THAT AN ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF THIS TRANSMISSION'S SUDDEN, UNPREDICTABLE ACTIONS. *TR
WHEN LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY THE BRAKES FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AND I ALMOST ROLLED INTO A CAR ON THE STREET. I CAME TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE POWER ASSIST FAILED. BUT THE EXPERIENCE WAS THAT THEY DIDN'T WORK UNTIL THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NEARLY TO THE FLOOR, AND VERY SOFT. I DROVE SLOWLY FORWARD AND THEY CONTINUED TO NOT WORK. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER FOR SERVICE. APPARENTLY WHEN THE SERVICE PEOPLE TURNED ON THE CAR THE BRAKES WORKED AND THEY COULDN'T GET THE PROBLEM TO REPEAT, BUT THE COMPUTER ON THE CAR LOGGED A BRAKE INCIDENT. FORD WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME AND TOLD ME TO KEEP DRIVING THE CAR UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THEY SAID IF THEY FIXED SOMETHING THEY WOULD GIVE ME A "FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY". IN SEARCHING ONLINE I FOUND THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM HAD BEEN PART OF A RECALL ON EARLIER MODELS (2010) THAT WAS A SOFTWARE GLITCH. *TR
2012 FORD FUSION INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. SEVERE DAMAGE TO VEHICLE ON PASSENGER SIDE. THE FRONT SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK AND THE FRONT PASSENGER AND THE DRIVER WERE THROWN IN THE CABIN. IN ADDITION, ACCORDING TO BODY REPAIR SHOP AND INSURANCE ADJUSTERS, IMPACT WAS AT THE LOCATION OF THE SENSOR FOR SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS. HOWEVER, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IN FACT, BRACKET FOR AIR BAG SENSOR WAS BROKEN, BUT IT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED WHETHER THE BRACKET WAS BROKEN PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT OR UPON IMPACT. REAR PASSENGER RECEIVED A SEVERE HEAD INJURY. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE VEHICLE IN TO A DEALER AND HAVE THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE ("RCM") REPLACED AND TO SEND THE ORIGINAL TO THE COMPANY FOR ANALYSIS. THEY ARE PAYING FOR THIS. FURTHER RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR FORD FIESTAS RELATED TO THE PROGRAMMING OF THE RCM AND ITS FAILURE TO DEPLOY AIRBAGS THAT COULD LEAD TO INJURIES TO A REAR PASSENGER. THIS SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR, AND MAY WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION TO SEE IF THAT RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO OTHER FORD VEHICLES. I DROVE TO THE BANK TO CASH A CHECK. VEHICLE IS FINE DRIVING THERE WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE AND BACK OUT OF MY PARKING STALL I HAD NO POWER STEERING AT ALL. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING IT IN THAT DAY. DRIVING AT 45 MILES AN HOUR, AGAIN, WARNING CHIME SOUNDED, PULL OVER SAFELY WARNING CAME ON, ENGINE SHUT OFF, BRAKES AND ACCELERATOR DISENGAGED, AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT CAR OFF. I WAS TOO FAR FROM DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT TOWED AND WAS WORKING (I TRAVEL FOR MY JOB). CALLED DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN. ABLE TO RESTART IT AFTER 2-3 ATTEMPTS. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. NO CODE FOR NO START OR SHUT OFF BUT CODE FOR FUEL CANISTER. PROBLEM ADDRESSED, FIXED, AND CAR RETURNED TO ME. COULD NOT ACTIVATE, CAR RETURNED WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO 'HAVE IT TOWED HERE AND DO NOT RESTART IT WHEN IT BREAKS DOWN. AFTER, THIS INCIDENT, I TRADED CARS WITH MY BROTHER (WHO WORKS 5 MILES FROM HOME) SO THAT HE COULD EASILY HAVE IT TOWED IF IT WERE TO OCCUR AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETECT A TROUBLE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,900. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

DRIVING ALONG AT AROUND 40 MILES PER HOUR, THEN NOTICE THE LOSS OF POWER, A BRIGHT YELLOW LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH - STOP SAFELY HAZARD WARNING (RTT) - WHICH ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS HANDBOOK INDICATES HYBRID COMPONENT FAULT/FAILURE THAT WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SHUTDOWN (WHICH IT HAD ALREADY DOWN, I HAD A HARD TIME TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL). FAILED TO RE-START THE FIRST TIME OR ENTER INTO A LIMITED OPERATING MODE, SEEMS LIKE RAY SKILLMAN FORD, GREENWOOD, INDIANA COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. THIS $31,000 VEHICLE HAS ONLY 1,400 MILES ON THE CLOCK AND PER STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE DENIES ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER GOING A MILE, THE BRAKES FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM. DRIVING ONE DAY HAD JUST TOOK OFF SO WASN'T GOING THAT FAST AN WAS APPROACHING A TURN AND FOUND OUT THAT I HAD TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL REAL TIGHT BECAUSE I COULD NOT TURN THE CAR .TRIED TO GET MY CAR FIXED AS A MATTER OF FACT I DID TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND GOT CHARGED FOR SOMETHING THAT I THOUGHT WAS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DIDN'T THE PROBLEM CAME BACK . MY CAR IS STILL SAYING GET POWER STEERING RACK ADVANCE TRAC SERVICED. TRIED 3 TIMES TO FIX BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK , I NEED YOUR HELP ! *TR
WAS AT A STOP SIGN WHEN I ACCERLERATED THE ENGINE STOPED. I VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND THE CAR RESTARTED. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG THE CAR. IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULT, THEY SAY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I CALLED FORD THEY INITATED A BUY BACK BUT THE CAR DID NOT PASS CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW MUSTER SO MY CASE WAS CLOSED. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS WHEN SHIFTING. HAVE HAD THE COMPUTER REFLASHED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW DAYS. AT ABOUT 30000 MILES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED GOING CRAZY (TURNING ON/ OFF WHENEVER, GOING DIFFERENT SPEEDS WHENEVER). *TR
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAG IN MY CAR BACK IN JANUARY 2017, IT HAS BEEN 11 MONTHS AND FORD DEALERSHIP STILL DOESN'T HAVE THE PARTS NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR. HOW LONG MUST I WAIT TO GET THIS RECALL DONE? I JUST RECEIVED A NOTICE OF CHAPTER 11 CASE # 17-11375 (BLS) THIS WEEK AND I CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN TODAY AND WAS TOLD THAT I DO NOT LIVE IN HUMIDITY SO DON'T WORRY. REALLY I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS CAR OF THE PAST 5 YEARS WITH A BAD AIR BAG AND I AM NOT TO WORRY !!!!

I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT HIT HEAD ON DRIVER FRONT BY ANOTHER DRIVER GOING APPROX 45MPH, CLEAR CONDITIONS. COLLISION FORCED OFF ROAD AND I HIT PARKED SUV WITH MY FRONT PASSENGER FRONT. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT OCCURRED DURING EITHER HIT, SELF BELT DID NOT LOCK, I WAS FORCED UPWARD HITTING MY HEAD ON INSIDE ROOF HANDLE ABOVE DRIVER DOOR, THEN THROWN FORWARD HITTING MY CHIN ON STEERING WHEEL. I WAS KNOCK UNCONSCIOUS FOR 3-4 MINUTES, FRACTURED FRONT TOOTH, DISLOCATED JAW, SUFFERED OPTIC NERVE INJURY, CONCUSSION, BACK AND NECK INJURIES. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE INITIAL BODY SHOP REPORT DID INDICATE THE AIR BAG MODULES HAD TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AFTER IT WAS DETERMINED THE REPAIRS COST MORE THAN THE VEHICLE WAS WORTH. DAMAGE INCLUDE ENTIRE FRONT END, HOOD, BROKEN, WINDSHIELD, RADIATOR, ENGINE, UNDERBODY, DRIVER DOOR, REAR DOOR REAR BUMPER AND ROOF. AIR BAGS WERE STILL INTACT. PICTURES WERE TAKEN AT ACCIDENT SCENE, TOWING FACILITY AND AT SALVAGE YARD. I STILL SUFFER FROM THE INJURIES AND AM CURRENTLY ON SSI UNABLE TO WORK. *TR
I SAW ON NEWS THAT YOU WERE INVESTIGATING POWER STEERING ISSUES ON THE FORD FUSION 2012. THIS IS A PROBLEM I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH MY FUSION 2012 ALMOST FROM THE BEGINNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH LESS THAN 10 MILES ON IT AND THE ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING AROUND THE SECOND MONTH. I HEAR A DING AND THEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT, THE BRAKES PADDLE REQUIRES A LOT OF PRESSURE TO ENGAGE, AND THE ACCELERATOR PADDLE IS NOT AS RESPONSIVE. TWO ERROR MESSAGES APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC." I MENTIONED IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE FORD DEALER AND HE ASK ME TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THE MESSAGES NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS AND BRING THEM IN. I TOOK PICTURES AND BROUGHT THEM IN, I'M THEN TOLD THAT I HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN WHILE THE ERROR MESSAGES ARE SHOWING IN ORDER FOR THE MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS WILL BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DO BECAUSE AFTER A RESTART THE ERRORS GO AWAY. I'M GLAD TO SEE THAT THIS ISSUE IS FINALLY BEING INVESTIGATED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ATTEMPTED TO ASSIST THE DEALER IN DIAGNOSING THE FAILURE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
DRIVING TO WORK LIKE ANY OTHER DAY, SUDDENLY I HEARD A POP. WASN'T TOO SURE WHAT IT WAS BUT THEN MY TIRE PRESSURE LOW MESSAGE POPPED UP. AFTER REALIZING WHAT IT WAS, I HAD TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO CHANGE IT OUT AND I EXAMINED THE TIRE AND SAW THAT THE OUTSIDE WALL WAS TORE UP AND THERE WASN'T ANY HOLES IN THE TREAD. *TR
AT THE BEGINNING OF ACCELERATION, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD. THE RPM'S GO ABOVE 3 AND THEN THERE IS A HARD SHIFT AND THE RPM'S GO DOWN TO 2 1/2 AND THEN FINALLY DOWN TO 1 1/2. THIS IS ONLY TO GET TO 30 MPH AND IT HAS A HESITATION TO GAIN SPEED. MY HUSBAND DRIVES IT MOSTLY AND HE SAYS THAT HE HAS NOTICED IT FOR A WHILE. I JUST NOTICED IT IN THE PAST WEEK OR SO. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER FUSION OWNERS AND SOME OF THEM EXPERIENCE THE SAME. IS THAT WHY FORD WAS TRYING SO HARD TO SATURATE THE MARKET WITH THEM?? *TR
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAS FAILED ABOUT 6 TIMES SINCE I RECEIVED THE CAR NEW AT THE END OF 2011. EACH TIME THE POWER STEERING FAILED A MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR ON THE DASH STATING THAT THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED, THEN THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES VERY, VERY HARD TO TURN. SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT CORRECTS THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS - THIS COULD BE 10 MONTHS OR AS SHORT A 2 DAYS. THE FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED IN DIFFERENT DRIVING ENVIRONMENT - PARKING LOTS TWICE, TOWN ROADS, AND HIGHWAYS. WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILS THE FORCES REQUIRED TO STEER THE CAR ARE EXTREME. I'M AN AVERAGE PERSON (5'8" 180LBS) AND HAVE BARELY ENOUGH STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL IN A FAILURE CONDITION. MY SISTER (5' 2" 105 LBS) WILL LIKELY CRASH. TOOK THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALER TODAY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REPAIRED, AND AFTER $148.00 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE THEY SAID THEY FOUND NO FAULT CODES IN THE CAR COMPUTER INDICATING THERE HAD BEEN ANY POWER STEERING FAILURES, AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT UNTIL THEY PHYSICALLY SAW THE PROBLEM. NO FAULT CODE REGISTRATION FOR SUCH A SERIOUS PROBLEM IS UNBELIEVABLE - A SERIOUS DEFECT IN ITSELF. I CONCEDER THIS CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY NEW FORD FUSION, ONLY 5 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASE, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND SAID WHAT'S THE ISSUE IT STARTED DIDN'T IT? THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IN MAY AND JULY OF 2014. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD AND A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION WAS ISSUED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WON'T DO SO BECAUSE NO CODE SHOWS UP WHEN I'VE TAKEN THE CAR IN AFTER EACH EPISODE. THIS IS A SAFELY ISSUE AND A KNOWN ISSUE. WHY NHTSA ALLOWED THEM TO GET AWAY WITH NOT DOING A RECALL IS BEYOND ME. IT IS UNSAFE DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT SUDDENLY LOSES POWER. IT SHOULD NOT MATTER THAT A CODE DOESN'T SHOW UP. WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE COMPUTERS? IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE AND IS HAPPENING SO IT SHOULD GET REPLACED. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH WHEN THE CAR LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO SHAKE. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TURN OFF THE MOTOR. AFTER WAITING APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES, WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DRIVE SAFELY TO A RELIABLE AUTOMOTIVE SHOP WE HAVE USED FOR OVER 20 YEARS. FINALLY AFTER A WEEK OF TESTING, THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WE HAD EXPERIENCED.THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR,AT OUR CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE, AND WE BROUGHT THE CAR HOME MORE THAN A WEEK LATER. WE DROVE THE CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL TUESDAY,OCTOBER16TH WHEN THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME AT ABOUT 30MPH. AGAIN, AFTER WAITING 10-15 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED AGAIN AND WAS DRIVEN SAFELY TO THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT REMAINS 5DAYS LATER. THIS IS A GREAT INCONVENIENCE SINCE WE LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE A CAR IS A NECESSITY BUT IT IS ALSO A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THIS PROBLEM COULD EASILY HAPPEN WHEN ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC OR ON A BUSY MULTILANE,HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY. I WAS GIVEN A SMALL TIRE, CAR JACK AND LUG IT WRENCH UPON BUYING THIS CAR NEW. NOWHERE IN THE DOCUMENTATION DID IT STATE THAT THE LUG WRENCH WILL NOT ALLOW ONE TO CHANGE A TIRE DUE TO THE REDICULOUS TIN LUGNUT CAPS THAT COME STANDARD ON MY CAR. I CANNOT REMOVE A TIRE DUE TO LUG IT CAPS. THE LEAST THEY COULD DO IS SUPPLY A TOOL TO ALLOW ONE TO CHANGE A TIRE IF NEEDED. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND ON THE DASH OF MY CAR DISPLAYED A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. WHICH THEN IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. DROVE HOME NORMALLY AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. WENT TO RESTART THE CAR AND THE CARE INDICATED A "POWER STEERING FAILURE - SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK" MESSAGE. SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR DID NOT CHANGE THE RESULT. CAR HAD NO POWER STEERING. DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED REPLACED. $1900.00 WARRANTY REPAIR. *JB
PICKED UP THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY (9/25/12) AFTER THEY FOUND SOMETHING WRONG AND WAS DRIVING ON STATE ROUTE 228 AT 55 MILE PER HOUR. WARNING CHIME SOUNDED, PULL OVER SAFELY WARNING CAME ON, ENGINE SHUT OFF, BRAKES AND ACCELERATOR DISENGAGED, AND ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. PUT HAZARDS ON FOR CARS BEHIND ME AND PULLED OVER QUICKLY AVOIDING A SIGN ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER 10-15 MINS, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR BY LETTING IT RESET. AFTER GETTING GREEN CAR INDICATOR, I WENT TO TURN AROUND TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND STALLED IN THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE 228 AND BUCK HILL RD. I WAS ABLE TO HAVE IT START, JUMP, AND STALL TWO TIMES (ENOUGH TO GET ME OUT OF THE INTERSECTION). UPON ARRIVING THE DEALERSHIP, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES THAT WERE DISRUPTED. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONTACTED FORD TECH LINE AND DROVE IT HOME FOR A FEW DAYS TO TRY TO ACTIVATE PROBLEM. COULD NOT ACTIVATE, CAR RETURNED WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO HAVE IT TOWED HERE AND DO NOT RESTART IT WHEN IT BREAKS DOWN.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED BETWEEN 35 AND 65 MPH THE POWER STEERING JUST STOPS WORKING. NO WARNING OF ANY KIND. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST TWO YEARS. LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT SHUT THE CAR OFF , AND WHEN YOU RESTART THE CAR ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH WOULD GO OUT AND POWER STEERING WOULD PRESUME. FINALLY ON AUG. 9 2014 IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER AND HAD TO HAVE THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK REPLACED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN EXITING ONTO THE ACCESS ROAD OF A MAJOR FREEWAY, MY 2012 FORD FUSION'S POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT MANEUVER THE WHEEL (THERE WAS NO ADVANCE WARNING OF THE IMPENDING FAILURE)... IMMEDIATELY, I TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND REDUCED SPEED, THEN WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DASHBOARD SHOWED AN ERROR STATING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT." I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND UPON RESTART OF THE ENGINE, THE POWER STEERING BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. TODAY, OCT. 22, 2012, THIS SAME POWER STEERING FAILURE HAS NOW OCCURRED FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH. EACH OCCURRENCE WAS AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 25 MPH, HOWEVER ON TWO OF THESE OCCASIONS, I NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH VEHICLES NEARBY BECAUSE I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND COULD NOT MANEUVER OUT OF THE WAY OF THE NEIGHBORING VEHICLES... THANKFULLY, THE OTHER DRIVERS WERE ABLE TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING MY VEHICLE. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE WILL BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN THE NEAR FUTURE DUE TO THIS VERY SERIOUS MALFUNCTION OF THE FORD FUSION'S POWER STEERING! I HAVE 15,500 MILES ON MY FUSION AND WAS INFORMED BY FORD (WINDOW STICKER) THAT I WOULD HAVE 41 MILES PER GALLON IN THE CITY AND 36 MILES PER GALLON ON THE HIGHWAY. A SAVING FOR THE INCREASED PRICES OF THE HYBRID OF $1,421 EACH AND EVERY YEARS. I WAS LIED TO BY THE STAFF AT THE SKILLMAN FORD DEALERSHIP, I AM LUCKY TO GET 32 MILES PER GALLON, THE SAME AS A REGULAR FUSION. I LOST MONEY AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SELL THE VEHICLE FOR THE PRICE OF A HYBRID. FORD MOTOR COMPANY CHEATED ME OUT OF MONEY AND LIED ON THE WINDOW STICKER.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. WARNING ON THE DASH FOR "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" THEN POWER STEERING FAILS. NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. HAPPENED IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE AS WELL AS MAKING A TURN IN A PARKING LOT WHICH NEARLY LED TO A COLLISION WITH A PARKED CAR SINCE I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL. SINCE IT HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE I KNOW TO PUT IN NEUTRAL THEN TURN OFF AND TURN ON THE IGNITION. HOWEVER, PREVIOUSLY FORD DEALER REPLACED LOWER FRONT ARM IAW FORD TSB. THIS OBVIOUSLY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. MOST RECENT FAILURES WERE WITHIN 150 MILES OF EACH OTHER. I CANNOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THIS CAR AS SHE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE. *TR
POWERSHIFT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. WHEN ACCELERATING, VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND MAKES LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. HAD CAR IN ON SEPTEMBER 12 ON THE FIRST VISIT, THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM; HOWEVER, I DO NOT THINK THEY LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION AS MY TICKET INDICATED THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. THE CAR CONTINUED TO HAVE PROBLEMS. ON 10/19/12, THE PCM WAS REPROGRAMMED AND THEY SAID TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LOW. VEHICLE HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES THROUGH DEALER AND TRANSMISSION FLUID SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN LOW. THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN FIXED BUT I WOULD STILL EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW MORE DAYS BECAUSE THE COMPUTER HAD TO ADJUST TO THE NEW SETTING. AFTER THIS, I CONTACTED ANOTHER FORD DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD I COULD TAKE IT IN, BUT IT WOULDN'T DO ANY GOOD. HE DID SEND ME A LIST OF OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POWERSHIFT FOR THIS MODEL. THE PROBLEM DID CEASE AFTER A FEW DAYS; HOWEVER, IT HAS STARTED OCCURRING AGAIN. ON 1/8/13, IT MAKE A TERRIBLE NOISE AND LOST POWER AS I WAS TURNING A CORNER. IT HAD A PROBLEM AGAIN THIS MORNING WHILE ACCELERATING IN RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC. THE CAR IS SCHEDULED TO BE LOOKED AT AGAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED. *TR
FRONT WINDOWS AND MOON ROOF HAVE SPONTANEOUSLY OPENED ON TWO CONSECUTIVE DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHUTOFF, LOCKED, AND VACATED. THIS PROBLEM CAN ALLOW UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS TO THE VEHICLE AND EXPOSURE TO THE ELEMENTS POTENTIALLY DAMAGING THE INTERIOR. *TR

AFTER I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOW" LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE HAD COMPLETELY LOST THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. THE STEERING BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO USE. IT BECOMES VERY STIFF AND JERKS HARD TO WHICHEVER SIDE YOU TURN IT TO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. AFTER A WEEK IN THE SHOP THEY REPLACED THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND RESET THE VEHICLE COMPUTER. MANY FUSION FORUMS SAY THAT THIS DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM AND HAVE RETURNED THE VEHICLE FOR MORE REPAIRS. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKEN TWICE AND CUT MY FINGER TWICE IN LESS THAN 36,000 MILES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I CAN ONLY BARELY OPEN THE DOOR NOW. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW. THE DOOR HANDLE PLASTIC IS TOO WEAK TO OPEN THE DOOR AND WHEN IT FLEXES THE CHROME PLATING SPLITS OPEN AND CUTS THE DRIVER'S FINGERS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE DOOR IS AN EMERGENCY EXIT. THE DOOR HANDLE SHOULD NEVER BREAK IN THE LIFETIME OF THE CAR. THE EXTERNAL DOOR HANDLES ARE ALL PLASTIC AS WELL AND COULD ALSO EASILY BREAK. DON'T CALL. I WON'T GET ANY MESSAGES. *TR

AFTER WAITING FOR AWHILE FOR MY HUSBAND, WE WERE ABLE TO CRANK IT AGAIN AND PROCEED HOME. TWO DAYS LATER; IT DID THE SAME THING. WE TOOK IT TO STOKES OF BEAUFORT, WHERE WE PURCHASED IT AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON OUR YEAR. THEY ADVISED US TO TAKE IT TO OC WELCH; AND WAS TOLD THERE THAT THEY RECALLED FUSIONS, BUT NOT OUR VIN #, BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY CHECKED IT AND SO NOTHING WRONG. WE WOULD HAVE TO WAIT TELL IT STOPS COMPLETELY. I DO HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY; BUT THEY DIDNT SEE THE NEED TO GO ANY FURTHER. AFTER THE DRAIN WAS CLEARED THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THERE WAS NO REPAIR FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500. THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY AS SHE WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD AT NIGHT. WAS ACCELERATING TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR DELAYED IN ACCELERATING. SINCE IT WAS A NEW CAR (PURCHASED IN JUNE ON 2012) I REALLY DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT. OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS, THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY WITH A DELAY/HARSH SHIFT, A GRUMBLING/VIBRATION IN THE CAR WHEN SHIFTING IN LOWER GEARS FROM 2ND TO 3RD. THIS ALSO OCCURS DURING DOWN SHIFT BETWEEN 3RD AND 2ND GEARS CAUSING THE CAR TO "LURCH FORWARD" AS IF YOU HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. I NOW HAVE 69,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND THE WARRANTY IS GONE AND EVERY TIME I ASK FORD TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM (TRYING TO TELL ME THAT THE WAY I DRIVE MY CAR IS TOO HARSH) THEY DID REPROGRAM THE TCS AND THE LAST TIME I TRIED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT BEFORE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED ME BACK STATING THE FOLLOWING: "IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR TRANSMISSION AND IT WILL BE 6-8 WEEKS BEFORE WE CAN GET THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE". *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. Safety Recall Notice 21S12/NHTSA Recall 21V-158 ( Driver airbag recall) I received a letter from Ford, April 2021 about my car driver airbag needs to be repaired. RISK: Airbag inflator explodes, sharp metal fragments could strike the driver causing serious injury or death. I will be killed by the airbag, not the wreck. The passenger airbag inflator was repaired after I was told to park car and I was given a rental for 3 months paid by Ford. When they started having to pay money, issue became VERY important. The letter states that when parts are available in sufficient quantities, I will be notified by Ford for repair. The car is 10 years old and FORD has had sufficient time to complete repairs. I am afraid to drive car and my stress level has increased. Ford is affecting my life and my resale valve. Please help in this matter.
