TAKATA RECALL - AUGUST 2017 MY CAR EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING: COOLANT LOSS WELL BELOW THE MINIMUM LEVEL IN THE COOLANT BOTTLE AT THE TIME OF A COLD START OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN A COLD ENGINE IS STARTED WITH INSUFFICIENT COOLANT AND THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, THE CYLINDER HEAD UNDERGOES RAPID HEATING. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. THE DASHBOARD BEGAN TO DING AND FLASH DUE TO OVERHEATING. I HAD THE RECALLS ON MY FORD COMPLETED AT TYLER FORD IN TYLER, TX; HOWEVER, THERE IS NOT A FIX FOR THE OVERHEATING RECALL. THEREFORE, TYLER FORD "BANDAIDED" THE PROBLEM UNTIL A REMEDY IS ISSUED BY FORD.
RECENTLY PURCHASED VEHICLE, VEHICLE RECENTLY STARTED STALLING WHILE IDLING. AS OF 07/30/17, IT HAS DONE IT TWICE. I WILL START THE VEHICLE, IT WILL THEN BEGIN TO SHUDDER A BIT AND STALL OUT. SEEMS TO DO IT MORE WHEN IT IS COLD. LUCKILY, ON BOTH OCCASIONS, I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE ROAD. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF IT STALLS WHILE DRIVING OR STALLS AT A LIGHT.
CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND WONT ACCELERATE. SOMETIMES CLEARED WITH ENGINE RESTART. THEN IT GOT WORSE AND THROTTLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ENGINE AT ALL. CAR WAS TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. BAD THROTTLE BODY DIAGNOSED. OVER 800.00 TO FIX. I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT FORD THROTTLE BODIES ON FUSIONS AND MANY ARE WARRANTIED UNDER FORD CSP 13N03, BUT APPARENTLY MY FORD ISN'T COVERED. NOT SURE WHY.
I WAS MAKING RIGHT TURN FROM ON ROAD TO ANOTHER. AS I STARTED TO BRING THE STEERING BACK TO CENTER IT LOCKED. IT TOOK AN AMAZING AMOUNT OF FORCE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO CENTER. IF MY WIFE WERE DRIVING THE CAR I AM SURE SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO SO. I HAVE DRIVEN MAY BIG TRUCKS AND HAVE HAD POWER STEERING FAILURES BEFORE. THE FORCE REQUIRED TO MOVE THE STEERING IN MY SMALL FUSION AFTER IT FAILED WAS 4 TO 5 TIMES AS HARD AS ANY TRUCK THAT I HAVE DRIVEN WITH FAILED POWER STEERING. IF THESE UNITS FAIL THE FORCE REQUIRED TO STEER SHOULD NOT BE THIS MUCH. THIS IS A UNSAFE DESIGN, FORD DID NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT FAILURES HAPPEN AND WHEN THEY DO THE STEERING SYSTEM SHOULD STILL BE REASONABLY USABLE WHICH IT ISN'T.
I WAS DRIVING IN MY CAR, WHEN I BEGAN FEELING LIGHT HEADED AND THEN PASSED OUT. WHEN I AWOKE I WAS IN THE HOSPITAL WITH V-FIB. I HAD MY CAR WORKED ON 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING/CIRCULATION. THEY DID NOT CHECK MY BLOOD FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AT THE TIME. I NOW HAVE A PACE MAKER AND DEFIBRILLATOR AT 33 YEARS OLD. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE ISSUES THAT FORD IS HAVING WITH THE EXPLORERS AND DID THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME IN MY FORD FUSION
DOOR LATCHES ARE DEFECTED. PASSENGER DOOR SWUNG OPEN AS I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THIS IS NOT SAFE! THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN A RECALL FOR THE DOOR LATCHES ON THE 2013 & 2014 FORD FUSIONS. I HAVE A 2013 FORD FUSION, HOWEVER, FORD CLAIMS THEY CANNOT COVER THIS BECAUSE THE RECALL FOR THIS PART DOESN'T PERTAIN TO MY VEHICLE SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN 2012. THIS IS ABSURD! THIS ISSUE COULD POSSIBLY LEAD TO A MAJOR ACCIDENT!
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED JUST OVER A YEAR AGO. FORD SERVICE TOLD ME ALL 4 DOOR LATCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED UNDER RECALL. YESTERDAY (7/25/17) DRIVER DOOR LATCH FAILED. COST IS $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO REPLACE AS LATCHES ARE >1 YR OLD. THIS IS A MASSIVE SAFETY PROBLEM IF THE RECALLED AND REPLACED DOOR LATCHES ARE FAILING. THE DOOR LATCHES FAIL SIMPLY WHEN GETTING IN A CAR AND CLOSING THE DOOR. THE DOORS WILL NO LONGER REMAIN CLOSED. THE LATCH IS PLASTIC AND SIMPLY WIGGLES IN THE LATCH SLOT WHEN DEFECTIVE. I HAD TO USE RATCHET STRAPS TO KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 23 MILES AWAY. PLASTIC QUICKLY DETERIORATES IN THE TEXAS SUMMER HEAT, SO IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME ON WHEN THESE WILL FAIL REGULARLY.
FORD RECALL 17S09 TO REPLACE FAILING DOOR LATCHES WAS COMPLIED WITH IN DECEMBER 2015. A REPLACED DOOR LATCH HAS FAILED AGAIN INDICATING THE REPLACEMENT LATCHES ARE STILL DEFECTIVE. FORD HAS ALSO DECLINED TO COVER THE BROKEN PART UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN MY WIFE WAS ATTEMPTING TO PICK UP OUR TODDLER FROM DAYCARE. WHEN SHE CLOSED THE DOOR, IT WOULD NOT LATCH. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER INSPECTED THE LATCH AND DID AGREE THAT IT HAD FAILED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PUT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT, THE SEAT BELT REMAINED IN THE RETRACTED POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SANDERSON LINCOLN (2121 W BELL RD, PHOENIX, AZ 85023) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING. WARNING LIGHT INDICATES STEERING ASSIST FAULT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DID NOT LOCK AND REMAINED SECURED. THE DISPLAY INDICATED THAT THE DOOR WAS OPENED AND THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BLUE SPRINGS FORD LOCATED IN BLUE SPRING, MISSOURI WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V210000(LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. UPDATED 09/06/17 *BF *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED ANTI-FREEZE AND OIL HAD LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER INFORMED HER OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NORTH GATE FORD (8940 COLERAIN AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45251) AND THEN TOWED TO WOODY SANDER FORD (235 W MITCHELL AVE, CINCINNATI, OH 45232, (513) 541-5586) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT HEARD THE RADIATOR BOILING AND A POPPING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR OVERHEATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. AS A RESULT, THE POWER STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING WAS DESIGNED TO SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT ENGINE FAILURE. THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO WOODY SANDER FORD WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT NO RECALLS WERE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED TO LOCK WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (ANDY MOHR FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 2713 E MAIN ST, PLAINFIELD, IN 46168; (317) 839-6541) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL IN THE PAST AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK CARE OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTO ZONE TO SEE ABOUT THE RECALL NOTIFICATION. A SALESPERSON STATED THAT THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING ABILITY DUE TO A STEERING GEAR MOTOR BOLT FAILURE, AND SUGGESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V250000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY AND NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ROUGH FROM 1ST>2ND GEAR AND VERY HARSH FROM 2ND>3RD GEAR. ALSO AT TIMES, WHEN PRESSING THE GAS TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT OR DO ANYTHING, IT JUST SITS THERE AND THINKS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN SLAMS INTO GEAR. THIS IS ALL HAPPENING WHEN IN MOTION. IT IS ALSO JERKY AT TIMES WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE SLAMS INTO GEAR CAUSING A HARSH JOLT AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS SAT GREATER THAN 4 HOURS. I HAVE BEEN TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ON FOUR OCCASIONS. THE TECHNICIANS CLAIM THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE 2013 FUSION.
ENGINE OVERHEATED AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR. ENGINE SHUTS OFF, I PULLED OVER SAFELY. HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS. ENGINE COOLANT RECEPTACLE CRACKS AND FLUID LEAKS OUT. HAD IT REPAIRED INCE LAST YEAR. ENCOUNTERED THE SANE ISSUE AGAIN, NOW MY FAN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DEALER SAYS 1300 IN REPAIRS. BUT FORD RECALLED MY MODEL FOR THIS SAME REASON. BUT NOW THAT IT HAS TURNED INTO MORE DAMAGE, I AN STUCK WITH FINDING HOW TO PAY TO GET MY CAR FIXED.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AT 35MPH WHEN THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON, I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE DEFLATED OR STRUCK A TIRE, JUST PARK MY CAR THINKING THAT THE NEXT DAY I WOULD FIX IT, BUT IT TURNED OUT THERE WAS NOT TIRE DEFLATED AND THE NEXT MORNING WAS NOT ONLY THAT PROBLEM BUT ALSO NONE OF THE CONTROLS (FOBS) TO OPEN MY CAR WORKED, I WENT TO WHERE I BOUGHT THE TIRES TO BE INSPECTED AND I CHECKED THE SENSORS, BUT EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND THEY ADVISED ME TO GO TO THE FORD DEALER, WHERE THEY QUOTED ME ALMOST 2 WEEKS AFTER THE INCIDENT, THE DEALER TOOK 2 DAYS TO DELIVER MY CAR BECAUSE THEY FORGOT TO TALK TO ME. ONCE I WENT BY MY CAR THEY TOLD ME THE RESULT OF THE DIAGNOSIS AND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THERE WAS NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE BCM AND THE RTM; BCM IS THE PART WHERE THE FUSES ARE AND THE RTM IS THE RADIO TRANSMITTER MODULE, AND WHAT I HAVE TO BUY IS THE RTM WHICH WOULD COST $ 945.83, I WANT TO CLARIFY THAT WITH MY RADIO I HAVE NO PROBLEM SO I I TOLD THE PERSON WHO WAS THERE ... WHY IF IT WAS NOT A PROBLEM FOR LACK OF MAINTENANCE OF MY PART AND I DO NOT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY RADIO OR MY TIRES OR SENSORS, BECAUSE I HAVE TO PAY AS MUCH MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS INTERNAL AND FOR A CAR WITH LESS THAN 5 YEARS OF EXISTENCE ... THIS PERSON ONLY TOLD ME THAT FOR THAT YOU SHOULD BUY MORE GUARANTEE BUT I FEEL IT IS UNFAIR BECAUSE I AM STILL PAYING THE CAR, AND NOT FOR LACK OF MAINTENANCE ON MY PART AND ARE PIECES THAT MAYBE THEY USE OF POOR QUALITY .. I HOPE THEY HELP ME OR ADVISE ME THEN NOR THE ALARM OF MY CAR CAN ACTIVATE, ANYWAY I WILL FIX IT BUT I FEEL THAT IT IS A LOT OF MONEY THAT I SHOULD NOT PAY. AND AT THE BEGINNING I AM ALREADY PAYING FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND ITS BAD SERVICE
THE SEAT BELT ON THE 60/40 HAS LOCKED UP WHEN I PUT THE SEAT DOWN BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND IS NOW STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. IT HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF.
"TAKATA RECALL" PASSENGER DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON 6/29/17. DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH ONTO THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SHUT DOOR. CURRENT STATUS OF THE SITUATION IS AN APPT WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP ON 7/10/17. NO RECALL ON MY VIN BUT THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON 2013-2014 FUSION MODELS ASSEMBLIED IN MEXICO.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: CAS12667532. THE RECALL REPAIRS HAD NOT BEEN AUTHORIZED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. ...UPDATED 08/02/17 *BF *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO STALL AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT RAISED THE HOOD AND NOTICED ANTIFREEZE LEAKING OUT ONTO THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,289.
THE MOTOR OVERHEATED JUST AS IN THE DESCRIPTION OF RECALL 17S09. FESLERS AUTOMOTIVE IN FAIRFIELD, IA TRIED TO BLAME IT ON SOMETHING ELSE EVEN AFTER THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID IT OVERHEATED AND CRACKED A CYLINDER HEAD. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE BEEN NEGLIGENT TOWARDS THE ACTUAL ISSUE AND THAT ISSUE WAS THE RECALL. THERE WAS A COOLANT LEAK INTO ONE OF THE CYLINDER HEADS THAT FROZE A SPARK PLUG AND CRACKED THE CYLINDER HEAD. I ENDED UP HAVING TO BUY A NEW MOTOR BECAUSE THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR CHIMED AND THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (GRIFFIN FORD LOCATED AT 1940 E MAIN ST WAUKESHA, WI 53186 262-542-5781) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REMEDY PARTS WERE ON BACKORDER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE SERVICED UNTIL JUNE 22, 2017 AT 7:00 AM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED (OUT OF TOWN WEEKEND) WHEN STARTING UP TO GO HOME IT TOTALLY SHUT DOWN, LIGHT CAME STATING SOMETHING ABOUT COOLANT TEMPERATURE AND I HAD NO POWER WHAT SO EVER. GOT TOWED TO FORD, ONLY HAD VEHICLE SINCE FEB. 2017, SAUDERED AND RECONNECTED SOME WIRING THAT THEY SAID WAS CHEWED BY SOME CRITTER, I.E. MOUSE. $360. LATER. AFTER DOING MY OWN RESEARCH I SEE WIRING IS BEING BEING COVERED IN SOME SOY COATING AND SEATS ARE MADE WITH OTHER PRODUCTS THAT CAN LURE CRITTERS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND AND FEEL WHY SHOULD I PAY THAT OUT OF POCKET.
TILTING THE BACK SEAT FORWARD MAKES THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT LOCK UP, PREVENTING THE SEAT FROM GOING BACK UP. THE ONLY RECOURSE BEING TO CUT THE SEAT BELT. OR UNBOLT THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY. BOTH OF WHICH ARE SAFETY CONCERNS. YOUTUBE IS FILLED WITH WORKAROUNDS FOR THIS ISSUE. WHICH INCLUDE HAVING THE SEATBELT LOCKED INTO THE CLIP ALWAYS. AND USING THAT SLACK TO BRING THE SEAT BACK UP WHEN IT GETS STUCK.
PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR DROPPED STRAIGHT DOWN AND WILL NOT STAY UP. I CANNOT SEE THROUGH IT SO IT BLOCKS VISIBILITY TO MY RIGHT UNLESS I USE A HAND TO HOLD IT UP. I WAS DRIVING MY FIANC TO WORK GOING ABOUT 25 MPH AND MADE A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION AND ALL OF SUDDEN MY CAR START TO SMELL LIKE BURNT RUBBER AND SMOKE STARTED TO COME OUT OF THE A/C AND UNDER THE HOOD. I TURNED OF THE CAR IMMEDIATELY AND CHECKED THE HOOD. THERE'S WAS FIRE!!! COMING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BUT I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE VERY GENEROUS BYSTANDERS TO HELP ME PUT IT OUT WITH THE WATER THAT THEY WERE CARRYING. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THAT NO ONE GOT HURT AND THE CAR DIDN'T GO UP IN FLAMES BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO PUT IT OUT WITH.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH ON VEHICLE BROKE, CAUSING DOOR TO FLY OPEN WHILE DRIVING. WITHIN 24 HOURS, DRIVER DOOR LATCH SUFFERED THE SAME FAILURE. DOORS ARE OPEN AT ALL TIMES, AND CANNOT BE LATCHED. CUSTOMER BELIEVED THE PROBLEM TO BE COVERED BY THE RECALL OF OTHER 2013 FUSION VEHICLES FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENERGI WAS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL.
FRONT SEATBELT PRETENSIONER 16S42 - AFTER HAVING THE FLEET VEHICLE SERVICED, I WAS GIVEN THE INVOICE TO SIGN. I ASKED THE CSR IF THE RECALL HAD BEEN FIXED IN ADDITION TO THE VEHICLE BEING SERVICE, WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO REPAIR THE RECALL UNTIL IT FAILED. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A LOT OF REQUESTS FOR THE RECALL AND THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. WE WALKED AWAY THINKING THAT'S WEIRD THAT SHE SAID THAT. IN CHECKING THE RECEIPT, THERE IS NO LISTING OF CHECKING FOR RECALLS, EVEN AFTER I HAD REQUESTED IT WHEN I MADE THE APPOINTMENT.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WON'T STAY CLOSED. THE INTERNAL LATCH IS BROKEN SO THE DOOR CAN FLY OPEN AT ANY TIME WITHOUT THE DOOR HANDLE BEING OPENED. FURTHER, THE DOOR WILL CLOSE FAR ENOUGH TO NOT TRIGGER A DOOR OPEN SENSOR, SO THE DRIVER WOULDN'T NECESSARILY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. CALLING THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DIDN'T SOUND SURPRISED AT ALL AND SAID THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON FORD FIESTA'S, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS FOR A FORD FUSION. THE DEALERSHIP, JORDON FORD IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, PROCEEDED TO ASK ME TO HOOK UP BUNGEE CORDS TO THE DOOR AND DRIVE IT THERE. I REFUSED AND THEY FINALLY SENT A TOW TRUCK. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT HOME IN THE GARAGE, BUT I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT INITIALLY OCCURRED AND IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY IT WAS DRIVEN WITH THIS PROBLEM. I'M SURE IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING THAT IF THIS HAPPENED TO ONE DOOR, IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANY OF THE DOORS AND CAUSE A SERIOUS HAZARD IF A DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I DON'T KNOW OF ANY RECALLS FOR FORD FUSIONS RELATED TO THIS. I HAVE A VIDEO SHOWING THAT THE DOOR WON'T CLOSE PROPERLY, BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CAPTURE THIS PROBLEM IN A STILL PHOTO. THE IGNITION TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AROUND IN A PARKING LOT. THE KEY CAN POP OUT OR BE TUCKED IN WHEN YOU PRESS A BUTTON, LIKE A POCKET KNIFE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE KEY DIDN'T HOLD IT'S PLACE, THEN DROPPED AND WAS DANGLING INSTEAD OF FIXED AND LOCKED. WHEN THE KEY DROPPED DOWN THE IGNITION SWITCH TURNED OFF, THEN I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN WHICH SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK. THAT MESSAGE COMES ON IF YOU ATTEMPT TO TURN THE CAR OFF WITHOUT THE VEHICLE BEING IN PARK.
I WENT TO A GAS IN TOWN AND FILLED UP MY CAR AND ONLY GOT 223 TO A FULL TANK AND THEN IT SLOWLY CREEPED UP AS I WAS DRIVING IN TOWN TO 289. BUT I NORMALLY GET 330-350 TO A FULL TANK. BUT WHEN I FIRST GOT IT AND THE DEALERSHIP FILLED IT UP, I GOT OVER 400 TO A FULL TANK.
MY CAR IS A 2013 VEHICLE WITH 30,000 MILE. THE BYPASS VALVE IS ALREADY BAD ON IT. I NOW HAVE TO PAY $400 OUT OF POCKET, BECAUSE ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PART, FORD REPAIR SHOPS ARE SAYING THERE ISN'T ANY RECALLS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (THE MIDDLE LANE ON 690 IN SYRACUSE AT 4:30 PM), A NOTIFICATION CAME UP ON MY DASHBOARD SAYING "STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE REQUIRED." I THEN LOST ALL POWER STEERING WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. AAA CAME AND IT WAS BROUGHT TO A LOCAL CAR CARE CENTER WHERE MY FAMILY ALWAYS GOES TO GET OUR VEHICLES FIXED. THEY DROVE MY CAR AND SAID IT WAS DRIVING FINE AND THAT NO CODES WERE SHOWING UP. ONCE I DROVE IT HOME FROM THE MECHANIC, THE SAME NOTIFICATION POPPED UP ON THE DASHBOARD AGAIN AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY (STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE REQUIRED). I THEN BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR (I HAD TO DRIVE IT WITH NO POWER STEERING). THEY STATED THAT I NEEDED A COMPLETELY NEW STEERING GEAR. WHILE DOING SOME RESEARCH BEFORE MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, I FOUND SEVERAL ARTICLES STATING THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO REPLACED ON OTHER 2013 FORD FUSIONS (I BELIEVE MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE SAME PLACE AS THE OTHER FORD'S THAT HAD THEIR STEERING GEARS RECALLED BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER OF MY CAR). THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CORPORATE STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT (PERTAINING TO REIMBURSEMENT) BECAUSE MY CAR'S VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST FOR THAT PARTICULAR ITEM (THE STEERING GEAR). I ENDED UP PAYING JUST UNDER $1,800.00 .

RECALLS NOT DONE AFTER NUMEROUS DEALER VISITS
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE APPEARED AND I COULD NOT TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. I HAD JUST STARTED THE CAR IN MY GARAGE AND AS I TRIED TO BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL SO I PULLED BACK IN THE GARAGE AND CALLED BY DAD. WHEN HE ARRIVED ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER HE STARTED IT AND IT WORKED JUST FINE. IT LOOKS LIKE A PROBLEM WITH THE EPAS AND I AM WONDERING WHY THE 2013 FUSIONS WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED.

HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE LUG NUTS REPLACED TWICE. THE MOST RECENT REPLACEMENT WAS WITH 32,000 MILES ON THEM. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE "SWOLLEN". THIS SWELLING RESULTS IN THE LUG NUTS NOT BEING ABLE TO BE REMOVED WITH A STANDARD WRENCH. IF THIS OCCURS WHEN DRIVER HAS A FLAT TIRE, THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE TIRE TO CHANGE IT AND WOULD RESULT IN THE CAR BEING TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP JUST TO CHANGE A TIRE. MY CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY, YET THE DEALER CHARTED ME TO REPLACE THE LUG NUTS. HAVE RESEARCHED "SWOLLEN LUG NUTS" AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH FORDS. THE SWOLLEN LUG NUTS WERE DISCOVERED DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WON'T STAY LOCKED, YOU CAN PULL APART FAIRLY EASILY BY HAND.WE JUST HAD THE PRETENSIONER RECALL DONE,BUT NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE SO FAR. ALSO THE REAR SEAT BELT LOCKED WITH THE SEAT FOLDED DOWN AND WONT RELEASE SO WE CAN RAISE THE SEAT.
WHILE TRAVELING THOUGH THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIA SUDDENLY THE TEMPERATURE BEGAN TO STEADILY INCREASE TO WHERE THE GAUGE WAS HALFWAY BETWEEN NORMAL AND HOT. I SLOWED THE VEHICLE FROM THE SPEED LIMIT TO ABOUT 55MPH WHICH BROUGHT THE TEMPERATURE BACK TO NORMAL. AS WE CONTINUED ON THE TRIP THE TEMPERATURE WOULD SPIKE AND GO BACK TO NORMAL WITH DECREASED SPEED. AFTER THE INITIAL SPIKE WAS NOTICED I PLUGGED A DATA LOGGER INTO THE CAR TO RECORD ENGINE TEMPERATURE AND MONITOR MORE CLOSELY. THE TEMPERATURE SEEMS TO BE VERY ERRATIC AND SEVERAL TIMES REACHED A TEMPERATURE OF 233 DEGREES BEFORE I DECREASED SPEED AGAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE VERY HOT FOR AN ENGINE TO BE GETTING AND IS GREATLY CONCERNING CONSIDERING THE MOST RECENT RECALL ON OVERHEATING AND POTENTIAL FIRE. I AM CONFIDENT THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE OVERHEATED AND BROKEN DOWN IF I HAD NOT TAKEN ACTION AS IT DID A YEAR PRIOR WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED.
WHILE TRYING TO BUCKLE IN A CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT WHILE CAR WAS STATIONARY, THE CENTER REAR SEAT BELT GOT STUCK AND COULDN'T BE USED. MY 2013 FUSION LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS JUST OVER 72 THOUSAND MILES ON IT, WHICH PLACES IT JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. IN SEPTEMBER 2016, MY CAR GAVE ME AN OVERHEATING WARNING AS SOON AS I CRANKED IT. I PAID 300 TO HAVE THE TEMPERATURE SENDER ASSEMBLY REPLACED. ON APRIL 1, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A TRIP. I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND MY ENGINE TEMPERATURE SUDDENLY SPIKED, I LOST ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE AND BARELY WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO A PARKING LOT. THEY LOOKED AT IT AND CONCLUDED THAT IT HAD OVERHEATED AND A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD REPAIR THE CYLINDER, BUT IT WOULD PROBABLY BE SAFER TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. I INQUIRED ABOUT THE RECALL AND FORD PAYING FOR THE REPAIR AND THEY DIRECTED ME TO OPEN A CASE WITH FORD. AFTER ARGUING WITH FORD FOR SEVERAL DAYS, FORD INFORMED ME THAT THE ONLY THING THE RECALL WOULD COVER IS THE INSTALLATION OF A COOLANT SENSOR. BASICALLY ALL THEY WOULD OFFER IS TO INSTALL A SENSOR THAT WILL GIVE ME A HEADS UP THE NEXT TIME MY ENGINE IS GOING TO BLOW UP FINALLY AFTER 6 WEEKS I PICKED THE CAR UP ON MAY 17. I STARTED TO DRIVE HOME, MADE IT ABOUT AN HOUR, WHEN MY ENGINE TEMPERATURE STARTED CLIMBING AND WARNING ME ABOUT OVERHEATING AGAIN. I PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY, CHECKED THE COOLANT, LET IT COOL OFF AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT DID THE SAME THING WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. I HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. COST ME ANOTHER $300. SO TO SUMMARIZE THIS LENGTHY STORY: I HAVE A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD WITH A RUINED ENGINE. FORD ADMITS THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE AND TENDS TO OVERHEAT AND RUIN THE ENGINE, YET THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I WAITED FOR SIX WEEKS AND PAID OVER 7400 FOR NEW ENGINE THAT DIDN'T EVEN LAST AN HOUR BEFORE OVERHEATING AGAIN AND COSTING ME ANOTHER 300.

WHEN PROBLEM INITIALLY HAPPENED, BEGAN TO TRY TO GO IN REVERSE (WAS IN PARK) FOR A MOMENT BEFORE DEFAULTING TO PARK. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IN DRIVEWAY.
