I REPLACED MY BATTERY 2 WEEKS AGO, BECAUSE MY CAR KEPT NOT STARTING WITH PUSH START, THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN JULY 2016. THE PUSH BUTTON WOULD NOT START MY CAR, AND LEFT ME STRANDED 4 TIMES, I GOT A JUMP EACH TIME. ON 8-30-16 I PICKED MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL, AND WENT BACK TO MY CAR TO PUSH START IT, AND ALL OF THE POWER IS FUNCTIONAL, EXCEPT THE A/C AND THE PUSH START WILL NOT START. I CALLED FARIWAY FORD IN BURGAW, AND THEY COULD CARE LESS, I AM STRANDED. I RESEARCHED THIS AND IT'S SAYING IT COULD BE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM, OR SOME TYPE OF MODULE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES ON IT, AND IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THERE HAS GOT TO BE A RECALL ON THIS, IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE, WHAT IF IT DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET. MY BRAKES AND STEERING ARE GONE TOO. I CAN'T DEPRESS THE BREAK, OR TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT A LOT OF EFFORT.
RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE DRIVING.AS LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS FACULTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR UNLATCHED AND OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO CLOSE THE DOOR BUT IT FAILED TO LATCH. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. THE CONTACT USED ANTI-FREEZE TO COOL THE VEHICLE DOWN BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK APPROACHING A STOP SIGN TO A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. SHE WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKE WHEN SHE DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKES HAD COMPLETELY FAILED, STEERING CONTROL HAD BEEN LOST AND THE PARKING BRAKE HAD BEEN DISABLED AS WELL. BASICALLY ALL MEANS OF BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A CONTROLLED STOP HAD FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. BEING UNABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP IT CARRIED HER OUT IN THE HIGHWAY WERE LUCKILY THE LARGE TRUCK COMING DOWN THE ROAD WAS PAYING ATTENTION AND MANAGED TO SWERVE AROUND HER. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO COME TO AN EVENTUAL STOP AT WHICH TIME SHE CALL ME AND I CAME TO LOOK AT IT. I WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THAT THE CAR HAD NO BRAKES, POWER STEERING WAS LOST AND THAT THE PARKING BREAK WAS IN FAILURE AS WELL. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO BILLY HOWELL FORD WHERE THEY INITIALLY TOLD US THAT THEY SUSPECTED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD GONE TO GROUND BUT FOUND OUT LATER THAT THE ABS MODULE FAILED WHICH HAS CONTROLS INTO THE STEERING AND PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM WHICH IS WHY THOSE FAILED AS WELL. I OPENED A CASE WITH FORD GIVEN THE NEAR CATASTROPHIC NATURE OF THE FAILURE AND ASKED THEM WHAT ARE OPTIONS WERE TO TRADE THE CAR IN BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT ANYONE IN MY FAMILY GOING BACK INTO THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT THE CAR DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR BUY BACK SINCE IT IS A 2013 AND THAT I DID NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY PROGRAMS. EXPLAINED TO FORD THAT I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR A BUY BACK BUT JUST FOR THEM TO WORK WITH THE DEALER TO ALLOW ME TO TRADE IT IN FOR WHAT I OWE WHICH IS NOT FAR FROM THE TRADE IN VALUE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOT AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THE FAILURE WE EXPERIENCED SO WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $2,000 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AS WELL.
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILS TO CLOSE. WILL NOT LATCH. HAPPENED WHEN VEHICLE WAS PARKED. HAD TO WRAP SEAT BELT AROUND IT TO GET IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. DEALER CLAIMS IT IS NOT UNDER RECALL.

A RECALL HAS BEEN SENT REGARDING FAILING DOOR LATCHES THAT SHOULD BE REPLACED. I HAVE TRIED FOR APPROX. 2 MONTHS TO GET THE DEALER TO FIX THIS. THEY SAY THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER, BUT I GET FORD MAILINGS THAT THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I CANNOT GET ANY DEFINITIVE INFO FROM THE DEALER, DON BOHN FORD. I CONSIDER THE POTENTIAL OF A FAILING DOOR LATCH TO BE LIFE THREATENING AND AM NOT GETTING ANY RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAY THEY WILL GET BACK TO ME. THIS GOES UNRESOLVED.
DOOR LATCH RECALL. LAST MONTH (JULY 2016) THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OF MY 2013 FORD FUSION FLEW OPEN WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. WE LATER LEARNED FORD HAS RECALLED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES, INCLUDING 2013 FORD FUSIONS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD OUR VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WE HAD NO OPTION BUT TO PAY THE NEARLY $500 COTS OF REPLACING THE FAULTY DOOR LATCH. NOW, ONLY ONE MONTH LATER (AUGUST 2016), THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR OF MY CAR FLEW OPEN AND WOULD NOT CLOSE, AGAIN DUE TO A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. MY CAR IS NOT EVEN 3 YEARS OLD, AND I HAVE SPENT NEARLY $1000 TO REPLACE PARTS THAT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR. IT IS INFURIATING THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, AND FORD IS DOING NOTHING TO HELP. I NOW HAVE THE OPTION OF SPENDING AN ADDITIONAL $1000 OR RISK HAVING THE OTHER TWO DOOR LATCHES FAIL AS WELL. THE MOST DISHEARTENING ASPECT IS THE TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE THIS PROBLEM CREATES, WHICH MAKES MY "CHOICE" NOT REALLY A CHOICE AT ALL. FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY OR OTHERS WHO MAY BE RIDING IN MY CAR, I SIMPLY MUST PAY TO HAVE THE OTHER DOOR LATCHES REPLACED. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS CALLS TO FORD, AND THEY JUST REFER ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ASSISTANCE. THE DEALERSHIP IN TURN SENDS ME BACK TO FORD. I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH NEITHER PARTY SHOWING ANY INTEREST IN HELPING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
STEERING RACK IS LOCKING UP AND POPPING AND CAUSED MY TURN SIGNALS TO NOT WORK PROPERLY UNLESS YOU HOLD THEM DOWN,HILL ASSIST AND ADVANCE TRAC WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON.HAPPENS STATIONARY MOVING TURNING CITY.
I TRADED THIS CAR INTO THE COVERT FORD DEALERSHIP LAST 8-2016. THE DOOR WOULDN'T CLOSE AND I WENT TO TRADE THE CAR IN THIS WAS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM LISTED IN THE DOOR LATCH RECALL. THEY MADE ME PAY FOR THE PARTS TO FIX THE DOOR, MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I WAS UNAWARE OF THE FORD DOOR LATCH PROBLEM AND MY DAD HAD TOLD ME AFTER THE FACT THERE WERE RECALL PROBLEMS AND ARTICLES ALL OVER THE INTERNET. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN MEXICO, AND THIS WAS A SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TRIED TO CONTACT FORD TO REPORT THIS AND EXPAND THE RECALL AND I GET ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE. I WANTED TO SEE ABOUT GETTING REFUNDED FOR WHAT THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME AT TRADE IN. I WAS AMAZED THAT FORD NEW OF THE PROBLEM AND STILL DID NOTHING, TO TRY AND EXPAND THE RECALL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. I WAS HOPING TO GET SOME HELP OR GETTING SOME FURTHER INFORMATION FROM YOU ALL.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY CAR HESITATED AND STALLED, USUALLY WHEN JUST TAKING OFF OR PULLING OUT INTO INTERSECTIONS. IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS WHILE SITTING AT IDLE AND ONLY ONCE WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEED. SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AND SOMETIMES IT COMES ON AND THEN GOES RIGHT BACK OFF. MY MECHANIC COULD NOT PULL A CODE AFTER THIS HAPPENS.
I'M HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER DOOR NOT LATCHING PROPERLY. FORD HAS ADVISED IT'S NOT PART OF THE LARGE RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND HAS BEEN ON FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS OR MORE, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICED FROM FORD. WHEN I TOOK THE NOTICE TO THEM, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE INFORMATION IN THEIR SYSTEM.
THE FUEL PURGE VALVE IS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION AS DIAGNOSED BY MY RESEARCH AND LATER CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP. UPON DOING RESEARCH, THIS MODEL OF PURGE VALVE WAS INSTALLED IN ALL 2009+ FORD VEHICLES AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 2009-2011 VEHICLES, YET IT IS STILL BEING USED IN THE NEWER MODELS AND FAILING. I AM BEING CHARGED $565 BY THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT FORD HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR. FUSION MODEL YEAR 2013, APPROX. 50K MILES, AIR PURGING FROM THE FUEL TANK (OUT OF 'CAPLESS' OPENING), CAR SHUDDERS REGULARLY AND MORE SO WHEN I FIRST PUT GAS IN IT. HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS; CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON YESTERDAY.
ON FRIDAY 8/05/16 WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA IN IMPERIAL, CA, THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OPENED. I ATTEMPTED TO SHUT THE DOOR MANY TIMES BUT WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME (TWO BLOCKS) HOLDING THE DOOR WITH ONE HAND. THE DOOR WILL NOT SHUT AND JUST SPRINGS BACK WHEN IT SHOULD HOLD SHUT. AFTER A SEARCH ONLINE I DISCOVERED THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL FOR MY CAR, WHEN I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO REPORT IT AND TAKE IT IN THEY STATED MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST AND I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT FORD CO. I SPOKE WITH FORD CO. THEY INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE MY CARE IN FOR A "DIAGNOSTIC CHECK" SINCE I COULD NOT PROVE OVER THE PHONE SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. I ONCE AGAIN CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE MY CAR FIXED AND PAY $300 I WOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE IT READY THE FOLLOWING DAY BUT FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK IT WOULD BE THREE WEEKS. I WAS ALSO TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY PRIVATELY UNTIL FORD CO. ADDED MY VIN NUMBER TO THE RECALL LIST.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AT 10 MPH, BOTH THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS SWUNG OPEN INDEPENDENTLY. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND LOCKED THE DOORS PROPERLY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. MY THREE YEAR OLD 2013 FORD FUSION IS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE STEERING CONTROL. DURING NORMAL DRIVING IN TOWN AND ON THE HIGHWAYS, THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS AS IF SOMETHING IS BINDING WHEN YOU TRY TO MAKE SLIGHT ADJUSTMENTS TO THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN THE BINDING IS FELT, IT TAKES MORE EFFORT TO STEER THE VEHICLE THAN NORMAL AND THE BINDING WILL ONLY LAST FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL STEERING. THE DEALER CHECKED THE CAR AND FOUND THAT IT IS EXPERIENCING AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF ELECTRICAL SIGNAL BETWEEN THE STEERING GEAR AND THE COMPUTER. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE ONE THAT CAUSED FORD TO RECALL THEIR 2011 TO 2012 FORD FUSIONS IN MAY OF 2015. FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR EARLIER RECALL TO INCLUDE MODEL YEAR 2013 FORD FUSIONS AS THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING IN A CAR THAT IS BARELY THREE YEARS OLD.
FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED. WAS WORKING FINE. THEN GOT OUT OF CAR AND SHUT DOOR. DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. WOULD BANG AGAINST FRAME AND NOT LATCH. HAD TO DRIVE TO DEALER WITH PASSENGER HOLDING DOOR SHUT. DEALER IS CLAIMING THIS IS NOT A RECALL ISSUE, YET FORD JUST ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS EXACT ISSUE TODAY ON SEVERAL OTHER MODELS.
MY PASSENNGER DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE THE STORE AND THE DOOR JUST SWUNG OPEN AND IT WILL NOT LATCH INTO PLACE JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MARCH OF 2016 FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP
I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND IT KEPT GOING DUE TO THE SHIFT LINKAGE BREAKING, IT REMAINED IN DRIVE THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 88K ON IT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THIS QUITE COMMON AMONG THE NEWER FUSION'S, FOCUS'S AND OTHER FORD PRODUCTS...UPDATED 01/04/17 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE PLASTIC BUSHING THAT HELD THE SHIFTER CABLE ONTO THE TRANSMISSION LINKAGE, WHICH CRACKED DUE TO DRY ROTTING. THIS MEANT EVEN THOUGH THE LEVER WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK, IT WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE SHIFTER CABLE. UPDATED 08/03/2017*JS
INITIAL FAILURE OF PARKING BREAK SWITCH WARNING LIGHT (AND SWITCH ITSELF) FOLLOW BY WIRE HARNESS FAILURE UNDER DASH DUE TO WIRES RUBBING AGAINST EXPOSED STEEL DASH FRAME CAUSING UNKNOWN ADDITIONAL ISSUES, INCLUDING ACTIVATION OF DASHBOARD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. FAILURES HAPPENED OVER TIME AS WIRING BECAME FRAYED AND FINALLY CAUSED A SERIES OF SHORT CIRCUITS. THE WIRING HARNESS FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE - CASE NUMBER CAS-10375276-L2-W7-J7. NO ACTION WAS TAKEN OTHER THAN A FOLLOW-UP EMAIL FROM THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER SUGGESTING I HOLD ON TO THE PAPERWORK IN THE EVENT OF A RECALL. NOTE THAT THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT "I'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE". THE CAR HAS ABOUT 62,200 MILES ON IT AND IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. GIVEN THE COMPUTERIZED NATURE OF THIS CAR, A COMPUTER WIRE HARNESS FAILURE IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD WORTH INVESTIGATION. MY GUESS IS THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL POSSIBLE SIMPLE FIXES, INCLUDING RE-ROUTING THE WIRE HARNESS, LINING THE STEEL FRAME WITH A RUBBER COATING AND SIMILAR APPROPRIATE STEPS THAT COULD BE TAKEN.
THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE, LEAVING THE DOOR JUST SWINGING OPEN AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED. WE TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER, WHO LOOKED UP THE VIN AND FOUND THAT ANOTHER DOOR LATCH ON THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPLACED PREVIOUSLY. I INVESTIGATED AND FOUND THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR DOOR LATCHES, AND THAT ALL 4 WERE TO HAVE BEEN REPLACED. HOWEVER, APPARENTLY ONLY ONE ON THIS VEHICLE WAS CORRECTED. WE HAD ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 2-1/2 MONTHS WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND HAD NEVER BEEN ADVISED OF THE RECALL. I COMPLAINED TO FORD, AND WAS TOLD THE RECALL WAS CLOSED. SINCE THE RECORDS SHOW ONLY ONE LATCH WAS REPAIRED WHEN ALL WERE SUPPOSED TO BE, IT WOULD SEEM THAT I SHOULD GET REIMBURSED FOR THE LATCH I HAD TO FIX AS WELL AS GETTING THE OTHER 2 REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS FLAW THAT COULD RESULT IN THE DOOR FLYING OPEN WHILE BEING DRIVEN!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS JERKING AND SHUTTERING WITH THE SERVICE MANUAL ERROR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V875000 (SEAT BELTS); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WE HAVE A 2013 FORD FUSION AND WHILE DRIVING CAR MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR FLEW OPEN LUCKILY OUR CHILD WAS SITTING AWAY FROM THE DOOR AND WE WERE ON OUR DRIVEWAY TURNING ON A SMALL HIGHWAY. THE DOOR LATCH IS NOT ALLOWING DOOR TO STAY SHUT. UPON RESEARCH WE FOUND THERE IS A RECALL ON DOOR LATCH OF 2013 FORD FUSION MANUFACTURED AT HERMOSILLO PLANT AND DURING CERTAIN DATES IN 2012. WE TAPED OUR DOOR SHUT AND WENT TO DEALERSHIP THEY STATED THAT OUR VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL. I INFORMED THEM THAT OUR CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN HERMOSILLO PLANT IN 2013 AND IT FITS THE RECALL DESCRIPTION. HOWEVER THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT EVEN THOUGH IT IS A RECALL. THEY WANT US TO PUT UP THE 400.00 TO PAY FOR IT WHEN THEIR COMPANY HAS A RECALL ON DOOR LATCHES. WE HAD ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE COOLANT AND AGAIN THEY HAD A RECALL ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM AS WELL BUT OUR CAR IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL ALTHOUGH AGAIN IT FIT THE RECALL DESCRIPTION TO A T. WE PAID TO HAVE THAT FIXED BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT WE HAVE TO PAY OUT OF OUR OWN POCKET ON A RECALL THE COMPANY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING. WE DON'T HAVE 400.00 TO FORK OUT AND WE NEED IT FIXED AS WE HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT WE TAKE TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY AND WE ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND OUT WHERE WE CAN GET THE MONEY TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WHEN WE FEEL IT SHOULD BE FORD TO FIX IT.
A WEEK AGO MY SON TRIED TO CLOSE THE BACK DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER SIDE AND IT WOULD NOT SHUT. THERE WAS A POLICE OFFICER THERE WHO TRIED TO HELP, THEY GOT DUCT TAPE AND CLOSED IT AND WE TOOK IT TO OUR REPAIR SHOP. THEY HAD TO REPAIR THE LATCH AND ANOTHER PART AND MENTIONED THE RECALL. WE PAID THEM $330 TO REPAIR, WE THEN CALLED FORD AND FOUND OUR VIN # WAS NOT IN THE RECALL. WE SPENT 4 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH EVERYONE FROM THE DEALER TO FORD THEMSELVES. SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP US UNTIL IT WAS PART OF A RECALL WITHOUT CHARGING US. THIS IS A CARE MY TWIN SONS ARE TAKING TO COLLEGE WITH THEM IN TWO WEEKS. WE KNOW THIS IS A DEFECT AND THE REPAIR SHOP ALSO MENTIONED IT. FYI MY FORD WAS IN THE DEALERS SHOP TWO WEEKS BEFORE AND THEY REPAIRED TWO OTHER RECALLS BUT WHEN WE CALLED THEM BACK SAID OURS WAS NOT INCLUDED.
THE 3RD DOOR LATCH ON OUR 2013 FORD FUSION BROKE WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHILE MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. THE DOOR OPENED AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CLOSE. THIS ORIGINALLY HAPPENED TO OUR REAR LEFT SIDE DOOR BEFORE FORD HAD RECALLED THE PART. AS MY HUSBAND TURNED LEFT ON A CITY STREET THE DOOR OPENED. MY TODDLER WAS IN HER CAR SEAT NEXT TO THE DOOR AND MY 8 YEAR OLD SON HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR SHUT TILL HE COULD PULL OVER. THE CAR WAS JUST BARELY OUT OF WARRANTY MILEAGE, BUT ONLY 18 MONTHS. IT WAS NOT RECALLED AT THAT TIME. NEXT WAS OUR LEFT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING A COWORKER HOME WHEN THE DOOR LATCH BROKE. HE WAS IN THE TOWN HE WORKS IN AND HAD TO LEAVE IT AT THEIR FORD DEALERSHIP, DUE TO THE FACT THAT DRIVING IT OVER AN HOUR TO THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT AT WAS UNSAFE AND IMPOSSIBLE. THEY HAD TO KEEP OUR CAR FOR OVER A MONTH TO GET THE PART TO FIX IT. DURING THAT TIME PERIOD OUR CAR SAT WITH THE DOOR TAPED SHUT ON THEIR LOT. WE EXPECTED THAT DURING THAT MONTH THEY WOULD HAVE FIXED ALL THE DOORS ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, HOWEVER THAT WAS NOT DONE. WHY ARE THESE CARS BEING SENT BACK ON THE STREET WITH UNSAFE PARTS? ARE WE WAITING FOR CHILDREN TO FALL OUT AND DIE ON THE STREETS? FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT FIXING THE PARTS IN ORDER OF THEIR RECALL WHILE THEY HAVE THE VEHICLE. WHO HAS TIME TO GO BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP, DEAL WITH GETTING A RENTAL CAR AND WAITING FOR A FEW PARTS AT A TIME TO COME IN AND FIX IT. HAVING FOUR YOUNG CHILDREN I AM TERRIFIED TO GET THIS VEHICLE BACK! THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TWICE FOR THE SEAT BACK REPLACEMENT AS WELL. THE BRACKETS ARE NOT SAFE AND GIVE OUT WHILE DURING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

WE HAVE HAD OUR 2103 FUSION NOW FOR 2 MONTHS. 1 WEEK AFTER HAVING THE CAR IT BEGAN TO MAKE A HUMMING NOISE AROUND THE GAS TANK AREA, THEN WHEN YOU SLOWED DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT THE CAR WOULD STALL AND BE HARD TO START BACK. SENT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ONLY BE TOLD THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ONCE WE RECEIVED THE CAR BACK WE DROVE IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THE CAR STARTED MAKING THE NOISE AGAIN AND WOULD STALL AGAIN. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND TOOK CAR BACK AGAIN STILL NOTHING. RECEIVED CAR BACK AND BEGAN TO NOTICE WHEN WE WAS FUELING THE CAR THAT THE RPM GAUGE WOULD GO UP AND DOWN AND THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD QUIT AND BE VERY HARD TO START BACK. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO IT STALLED AGAIN AND WOULD NOT START BACK, FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 30 MINS OF TRYING THE CAR STARTED. SENT CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR 3 WEEKS AND THEY ARE SAYING THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. I ASKED IF THEY HAD PUT FUEL IN IT LIKE I ADVISED THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME NO. I ADVISED THEM WHEN THEY DID TO LET ME KNOW WHAT THE CAR DID. WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR. I BELIEVE WE EITHER HAVE A FUEL PUMP ISSUE OR THE VEHICLE IS PULLING AIR IN FROM THE FUELING SYSTEM AND IS CAUSING IT TO AIR LOCK. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE MIDDLE SEAT IN THE BACK OF THE CAR. WE WENT TO GET HER OUT AND THE SEAT BELT LOCKED UP AND THE BELT BECAME REALLY TIGHT ON HER CHEST. SHE STARTED TO CRY AND WE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO GET HER OUR. WE THEN UNLATCHED THE SEAT, FOLDED IT OVER AND SHE CRAWLED OUT. BUT THEN THE SEAT BELT BECAME EVEN TIGHTER AND I NOW CAN NOT LIFT THE SEAT BACK UP. THE SEAT BELT COULD HAVE HARMED MY CHILD.
WE HAVE OWNED OUR 2013 FORD FUSION FOR LESS THAN THREE YEARS. WHILE DRIVING, WE MADE A LEFT HAND TURN AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS PROPERLY CLOSED AND LOCKED. THE PASSENGER REACHED OUT TO CLOSE THE DOOR WHILE THE DRIVER SLOWED DOWN. THE DOOR THEN WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. WE RESEARCHED AND FOUND MORE THAN 500,000 FORD VEHICLES, INCLUDING 2013 FORD FUSIONS, WERE SUBJECT TO RECALL DUE TO FAULTY DOOR LATCHES. WE CONTACTED OUR DEALERSHIP AND FORD DIRECTLY, BUT WE WERE TOLD OUR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WE PAID NEARLY $500 TO HAVE THE FAULTY LATCH REPLACED, AND WE NOW FEAR FOR OUR SAFETY, NOT KNOWING IF THE OTHER THREE DOOR LATCHES WILL FAIL AS WELL. WE ARE REQUESTING THE RECALL BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE OUR VEHICLE. WE WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST WE HAVE INCURRED, AND WE WOULD LIKE THE REMAINING THREE DOOR LATCHES REPLACED AS WELL.

THE TEST DRIVE ON MY FORD WENT SMOOTHLY. HOWEVER, LATER THAT MONTH MY VEHICLE BEGAN SHIFTING HARD. IT REVS AND THE ENGINE PULLS. I HAVE TO BARELY ACCELERATE TO GET IT TO SHIFT EVEN THEN IT SHIFTS EXTREMELY HARD. I INFORMED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP OF THE ISSUE AND I WAS TOLD THAT ALL OF THE 1.6 ECOBOOST MODELS LIKE MINES SHIFT HARD. THAT IS RIDICULOUS. THIS ISSUE WAS NEVER FIXED. I ALSO EXPERIENCED ANOTHER ISSUE: MY GAS TANK DOOR DID NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY. IT FELT LIKE A SPRING CAME OUT BECAUSE THE DOOR WOULD BLOW OPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING.

HOWEVER, I STILL INFORMED THE FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER TIME I DROVE ABOUT AN HOUR AND MY ENGINE OVERHEATING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I CHECKED THE COOLANT AND IT WAS AT A CORRECT LEVEL. THE CAR STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD AAA TOW IT TO MY HOME. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY HAD IT TOWED IN. THEY REPAIRED THE COOLING SYSTEM, FUEL INJECTOR PRESSURE AND COOLANT BYPASS VALVE SOLENOID. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE FLP SENSOR. I WAS CHARGED $702.28. IT IS TRULY SADDENING HOW THE CAR HAD TO BE BROKEN DOWN IN ORDER FOR THEM TO FIX IT. BUT WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY THEY DIDN'T TOUCH IT. NOW THERE'S A RECALL ON THE COOLING SYSTEM, 16S09. EVERY DAY I SMELL SOME SORT OF FUEL UNDER MY HOOD, FUMING UP MY GARAGE AND COMING THROUGH MY VEHICLE AC VENTS WHEN IT'S ON. IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE MY CAR IS GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE BECAUSE THE SMELL IS SO STRONG. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TOO WITH CYLINDER ISSUES. COOLANT LEAKED INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE ENGINE REPAIRS AND FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE.

BUT MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY WITH MY 12 YR OLD SON SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT PASSENGER SIDE WHEN THE DOOR CAME OPEN BY ITSELF WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION DOING 60 MPH AND NOW THE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE. WE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND SAYS IT IS A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. I NOW HAVE TO PAY $202 TO BUY THE PART TO FIX ONE DOOR. THE RECALL SAYS IT CAN HAPPEN TO ALL FOUR DOORS. THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO ALL 2013 FUSIONS. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH ON A 4 LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY WITH ECO CRUISE ON WHEN THE VEHICLE JUST STARTED TO SLOW. NO ERROR LIGHT ON THE DASH OTHER THAN A BRIEF FLICKER OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT, ALL ELECTRONICS, BRAKES AND STEERING SEEMED TO BE WORKING, BUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS VERY SLACK AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN I REPEATEDLY FLOORED IT. I ROLLED TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, AND IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING OK. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN IN APPROXIMATELY 200 MILES OF DRIVING, MOSTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED. HOWEVER, IT IS THE KIND OF EVENT THAT CAUSES ONE TO WORRY ABOUT THE VEHICLE SAFETY - ESPECIALLY AS THIS VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD 4 RECALLS FOR OTHER TYPES OF ISSUES.
MY VEHICLE - FROM A STOPPED POSITION - ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN TO 40 MPH (RATHER QUICKLY). HOWEVER, THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT ENGAGING (IE. DEPRESSING). THIS OCCURRED AT LUNCHTIME ON 17-JUN-2016. ALL TROUBLE LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT-UP. THE BEHAVIOR CONTINUED UNTIL I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE DEALER (ELDER FORD IN TROY, MI). I WAS UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE THROTTLE AT ALL; IT WAS ESSENTIALLY 'DEAD', EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING TO 40 MPH AND MAINTAINING THAT SPEED. BRAKING RESPONSE WAS DILUTED BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SELF-PROPELLING (IMAGINE TRYING TO BRAKE WHILE ALSO APPLYING GAS). I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND SHOWED THEM THE VIDEOS THAT I TOOK. I ALSO SENT THE VIDEOS TO THEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD TODAY THAT THEY WILL BE GIVING THE VEHICLE BACK WITHOUT ANY REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE THE VIDEOS IN MY POSSESSION, SHOULD NHTSA LIKE TO SEE THEM. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES OVER THE LAST 1.5 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE.
