THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V232000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,507.

LETTER FROM SENATOR MURPHY ON BEHALF OF A CONSTITUENT RE PURCHASING A 2013 USED FORD FUSION. AFTER BUYING IT, SHE READ AN ARTICLE ONLINE REGARDING A RECALL ON THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE FOR 2012 & 2013 FORD FUSION MODELS. HER VEHICLE WAS NOT MENTIONED. *SD UPDATED 10/19/16.*JB
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED AND THE DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOVEMENT. THE DOOR STILL DOES NOT CLOSE AND THE LATCH WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA15002 ADDRESSED THIS EXACT ISSUE ON SIMILAR VEHICLES, BUT MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED BY FORD ON THE RECALL THAT RESULTED FROM THAT ACTION.
LATCH ON REAR PASSENGER DOOR STOPPED WORKING AND DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOVEMENT. DOOR WILL NO LONGER STAY CLOSED.
THE CAR HAS A HARSH SHIFT FOR 2/3. THE SHIFT IS SO HARSH AT TIMES THAT IT WILL JERK YOUR HEAD BACK. IT WILL ALSO AT TIMES DRAG FROM THE 2/3 SHIFT THEN JERK YOU. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS ON THE HIGHWAY IF IN TRAFFIC AND IT ALWAYS HAPPENS AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY TELL ME IT IS NORMAL. I SPOKE WITH FORD TODAY 6.23.16 AND THEY HAVE ESCALATED THE MATTER WITH THE DEALERSHIP.
THE AIRBAG HAS BUSTED AROUND 90 DAYS AFTER ACCIDENT ON A CITY STREET WHEN VEHICLE WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE
I TOOK MY 2013 FORD FUSION IN FOR THE REGULAR SERVICE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. AFTER SERVICE WAS COMPLETED (OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION), I WAS NOTIFIED THAT EACH WHEEL HAS "SWOLLEN LUG NUTS;" ALL LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THIS MEANS THAT MY LUG NUTS NO LONGER FIT TO THE SAME SIZE AS CONDITIONED BY THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER. YESTERDAY, I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO RECEIVE A TIRE PATCH AND ALIGNMENT. THE IMAGES PROVIDED SHOW THE CONDITION OF THE LUG NUTS AFTER THE TIRE WAS PATCHED AND VEHICLE WAS ALIGNED. THIS SWOLLEN LUG NUT IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND DESERVES YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. SEAT BELT JAMMED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE MY GRANDSON WAS BUCKLED IN. THE DEALERSHIP ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR IT AND CAUSED THE SEAT TO REMAIN JAMMED IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE SEAT NO LONGER GOES UP LEAVING ONE WORKING SEAT BELT IN THE BACK SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
WHEN EVER I STOP FOR GAS THE CAR HAS TROUBLE STARTING.IT ALSO STOPPED RUNNING AT A RED LIGHT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT TURNED OVER. CAR MAKES A STRANGE NOISE WHEN DOING 40 MPH OR MORE.I DON'T FEEL ANYTHING DIFFERENT. BUT IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE EVERY COUPLE SECONDS.
TAKATA RECALL WAS IN VEHICUALR ACCIDENT AND AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY
MY FORD FUSION BEGAN TO HAVE EXTREME MOLD IN IT AFTER ONLY BEING JUST OVER 2 AND A HALF YEARS OLD. WE HAVE HAD THE CABIN FILTER REPLACED, INTERIOR DETAILED, AND MOST RECENTLY, THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE AC EVAPORATOR FLUSHED (1 MONTH AGO). THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE A RANCID SMELL OF MOLD. THE MOLD IS SO BAD THAT MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAD CO-WORKERS COMPLAIN ABOUT MOLD IN OUR OFFICES WHEN WE HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR TO WORK. THE MOLD HAS ALSO MADE EACH OF US SICK TO OUR STOMACH WHEN WE HAVE HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVE EXPLAINED TO FORD THAT MY WIFE IS PREGNANT AND DUE TO HAVE A NEW CHILD BUT FORD'S ONLY RESOLUTION WAS TO HAVE THE CARPET REMOVED AND THEN THE CABIN FILTER REPLACED (AGAIN) AND THE INTERIOR DETAILED (AGAIN). THIS RESOLUTION IS VERY UNLIKELY TO REMOVE THE MOLD AND WILL DEFINITELY HAVE SOME TRACES OF MOLD LEFT REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY DO. I HAVE ASKED FORD TO PROVIDE A RESOLUTION THAT WILL NOT INVOLVE HAVING MY WIFE AND FUTURE CHILD IN A VEHICLE THAT HAS MOLD IN IT BUT THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ONE. THEY ALSO REFUSED MY REQUEST FOR A BUYBACK. THIS MOLD IS AN EXTREME SAFETY CONCERN. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 40,000 MILES, HOWEVER, WE HAVE HAD A WINDOW REPLACED AT 17,236 MILES AND ALSO EXPRESSED CONCERNS THAT MOISTURE WAS BUILDING IN THE FRONT WINDOW AT 29,391 MILES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IF THEY ARE EXPOSED TO THIS VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING TO CHURCH ON APRIL 28, 2016 AND A WARNING THAT SAID "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT." I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR OVER 1YR AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WARING OCCRRING.
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A MOMENTARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF MY CAR WHEN BRAKING. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DECELERATING AROUND A CURVE (LEFT OR RIGHT), DRIVING DOWNHILL, OR WHEN DECELERATING OVER A BUMP OR OTHER AREA OF RAISED PAVEMENT. THESE INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS, AT SPEEDS UNDER 40 MPH. WHEN IT OCCURS IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS SKIDDING, EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT. I WOULD ALSO DESCRIBE THE FEELING AS A SURGE, EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS BRAKING, AND SHOULD BE SLOWING. I HAVE ALSO DESCRIBED THIS AS A FEELING THAT THE BRAKES SLIP OR STOP WORKING MOMENTARILY AND THEN RE-ENGAGE. THE EXPERIENCE IS FRIGHTENING, AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR COULD SURGE FORWARD WHILE I AM BRAKING AND RESULT IN A COLLISION OR INJURIES. I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2013, AND HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FEWER THAN 20,000 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE REGULARLY. THESE SURGES RECENTLY HAVE SEEMED LONGER IN DURATION MORE RECENTLY. I HAVE NOTED THIS CONCERN TO MY FORD DEALER TWICE IN THE LAST 12-15 MONTHS, AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE BRAKES FOR PROBLEMS. EACH TIME, THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE SURGE OR SKIDDING SENSATION. MOST RECENTLY, THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINED THAT I WAS PROBABLY NOTICING THE GASOLINE ENGINE KICK BACK IN AFTER THE CAR WAS IN BATTERY/ELECTRIC DRIVE. THIS EXPLANATION DOES NOT SQUARE WITH MY EXPERIENCE. I CAN DETERMINE WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS FROM BATTERY TO ENGINE OPERATION, AND THAT IS NOT THE CAUSE OF THESE BRAKING EVENTS. I READ THE COMPLAINTS OF A FEW OTHER FUSION 2013 HYBRID OWNERS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM, AND I WANTED TO ADD THAT THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING IN OTHER VEHICLES. THIS IS NOT A SAFE CONDITION. I WILL AGAIN BE TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE, AND ASKING FOR FORD TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM.
REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH, REMAINS OPEN. OCCURRED AFTER SIMPLY OPENING DOOR, VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. RECALL ALREADY IN PLACE FOR THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL HOWEVER ONLY FOR VEHICLES WITH STICKER OF 5/2013 OR PRIOR, MINE SHOWS 6/2013. BELIEVE RECALL NEEDS TO BE ADJUSTED.
REPLACEMENT OF A SIMPLE FRONT PARKING LIGHT IS ESTIMATED BY FORD SERVICE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE TO COST $250.00 BECAUSE THE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY MUST BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE SINGLE BULB.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED ANTIFREEZE ON THE GROUND. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
MY 2013 FORD FUSION FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH AND CABLE FAILED. I WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE MY DOOR. AT THE TIME I WAS PARKED ON A CITY STREET . LUCKILY I WAS NOT MOVING LIKE OTHER 2013 FORD FUSION OWNERS EXPERIENCED. FORD DID NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN RECALL 15S16 OR NHTSA 15V246000, EVEN THOUGH I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE. I IMMEDIATELY REPAIRED THE LATCH AND CABLE AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, INVOICE#C54181.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION; HOWEVER, THERE WAS A PERMANENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,500.
WE PURCHASED THE CAR THIS PAST SATURDAY AND ON SUNDAY, THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR CANNOT BE COMPLETELY LOCKED DUE TO THE SENSOR 'THINKING' THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR IS NOT SHUT,WHEN IN FACT IT IS. ALSO THE ALARM GOES OFF WHEN WE TRY TO REMOTELY LOCK THE CAR.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT COMES IN MAKING IT HARD TO TURN VEHICLE. FORD SAYS NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE.
THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR CLUTCH FELL OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE BOLT RETAINING THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY SHEARED OFF RESULTING IN THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY SEPARATING FROM THE COMPRESSOR PULLEY.
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON I-40 MOVING WEST FROM NASHVILLE IN DICKSON, TN WHEN MY HOOD RELEASED. THE HOOD SLAPPED MY WINDSHIELD SHATTERING IT AND SENDING PIECES OF GLASS AT ME. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE MEDIAN AND CALL THE STATE TROOPERS. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I COULD FIND THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE HOOD TO RELEASE AS THERE IS AN INITIAL "HOOD RELEASE" AND THEN A SAFETY LEVER THAT HAVE TO BOTH HAVE ACTION BEFORE THE HOOD CAN EVEN GO UP.
2013 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILURE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED 14 MONTHS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR. *JS
I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND RECEIVED A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MESSAGES. AT FIRST, I WAS ABLE TO RESET MY POWER STEERING BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON. NOW , I HAVE COMPLETELY LOST MY POWER STEERING. NOW THE POWER WILL GO OFF AND STAY OFF WHILE DRIVING. FORD MOTOR HAS RECALLED THE 2011 FORD FUSIONS WITH THE 3.5 L ENGINE BUT INSIST THE 2.5 L DO NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I THINK THEY ARE WRONG AND SHOULD HAVE TO FIXED MY CAR FOR SAFETY REASONS. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, MY FORD DEALERSHIP CAN'T EVEN LOOK AT MY CAR UNTIL ONE WEEK WHICH ONLY FORCES DRIVERS TO DRIVE CARS THAT ARE UNSAFE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL, DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE BRAKING DISTANCE WAS EXTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BIRD KULTGEN FORD (1701 W LOOP 340, WACO, TX 76712) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, SEVERAL YEARS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HAZZARD LIGHT WHILE HONKING THE HORN TO NOTIFY OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS OF AN ISSUE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE AROUND A HOSPITAL PARKING LOT UNTIL THE VEHICLE SLOWLY LOST MOTIVE POWER. THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE VACUUM PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, UPON THE CONTACT TAKING POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
DAMAGED LUG NUTS: ALL WHEEL REMOVALS/TIRE ROTATIONS WERE PREVIOUSLY DONE BY AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIPS. REPORT OF LOSE LUG NUT SITUATION WAS MADE BY OWNER DURING SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE BUT WAS DISMISSED BY ONE AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER AND SUBSEQUENTLY CONFIRMED AND REPAIRED DURING SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE BY ANOTHER AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER. AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER CONFIRMED DAMAGE AND REPLACED 3 DAMAGED LUG NUTS. SUSPECT EITHER (1) DEFECTIVE MATERIAL OR (2) QUALITY OF SERVICE. DAMAGED LUG NUTS COULD IMPACT SAFETY DURING OPERATION (IF WHEEL SEPARATES FROM MOVING VEHICLE) OR MAINTENANCE (IF OWNER HAS TO CHANGE TIRE ALONG BUSY HIGHWAY). AS OF THE DATE OF THE ALLEGED CORRECTION, THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY, HAS BEEN IN SERVICE LESS THAN 36 MONTHS, AND HAS LESS THAN 36,000 MILES ON ODOMETER.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR NOT CLOSING. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE!

2013 F USION 1.6 TURBO FUEL VAPOR PURGE VALVE WENT BAD AND FORD DEALER SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED , THE INTERNET SAYS THE 2013 AND ALL WAY BACK TO 2010, THIS CAR IS A BIG PROBLEM ALL OF THE RECALL I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS, WHEN THE INTERNET SAYS THE VALVE SHOULD BE COVERED.
DOOR LATCH BROKE. NO FOUL PLAY. DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS NOT PART OF THE RECALL.
MY CAR IS STALLING WHEN I PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 3 MONTHS. I EVEN TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALER TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIGURE IT OUT BUT SAME THING BUT I DIDN'T EXPECT THEM TO FIX IT WAS JUST HOPEFUL. I EXPECT FORD TO BE ABLE TO TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG NOT GUESS WORK THAT GETS A BIT EXPENSIVE. FORD HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF RUDE AND UNCONCERNED. THE LATCH ON THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR FAILED AND NO LONGER FUNCTIONS, JUST AS DESCRIBED IN RELEVANT RECALL. HOWEVER, ALTHOUGH MY MODEL YEAR IS PART OF RECALL, FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON MY VIN IS EXCLUDED. FORD MUST FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT HAPPENS TO THE OTHER DOORS. I WAS TRYING TO ENTER FREEWAY WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FLEW OPEN. THIS VEHICLE IS A FAMILY CAR, AND I HAVE 3 MINOR CHILDREN WHO, I PREFER, ARE NOT PUT IN HARMS WAY AS A RESULT OF SOME MISPLACED ISSUE ON WHETHER MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF THESE PARTS, WHICH ARE ALREADY WELL-ESTABLISHED AS DEFECTIVE.

WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THERE IS A TERRIBLE VIBRATION COMING FROM FRONT OF THE CAR AS THE STALLING PROBLEM GETS WORSE IT ALSO GOES INTO "LIMP MODE" ON HIGHWAY . THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR MANY WEIRD PROBLEMS SUCH AS WHEN I WAS IN FLA IN DEC AND THE HEAT CAME ON FULL BLAST AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE SAID IT WAS MINUS 21 DEGREE'S . IT HAD PROBLEM WITH WIPERS , TURN SIGNALS AND HEADLIGHTS NOT WORKING. I CAN'T COUNT HOW MANY MODULES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AND IT IS VERY SCARY TO BE DRIVING AND NOT KNOW WHEN YOUR CAR WILL STALL . THE CAR IS AT DEALER YET AGAIN AND IT WAS VERY UNSETTLING TO DISCOVER THAT THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T THINK IT WAS A BIG DEAL THAT YOUR NEARLY NEW VEHICLE IS STALLING FREQUENTLY . WHICH MADE MY GUT SAY THERE COULD BE SOME SORT OF COVER UP. BECAUSE YOU LITERALLY CAN NOT TRUST ANYONE ANY MORE . I COULD SEE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IN THE MAKING. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. I TOOK IT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE SEAT WAS CRUSHED , SUPPOSEDLY BY AN EMPTY JELLY JAR THAT WAS UNDER NEATH THE SEAT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I HAVE THE JELLY JAR AND ITS NOT EVEN BROKEN . FORD CLAIMS ITS MY FAULT AND TO GET IN TOUCH WITHMY INSURANCE COMPANY WHICH I HAVE BUT SINCE THE LIGHT (AIRBAG ) LIGHT HAS COME ON, MY SEAT DOESN'T WORK DOES NOT MOVE BACK OR FORWARD AND THE LIGHT THAT TELLS IF IF THE SEAT BELT IS FASTENED DOESN'T WORK. I HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY BUT IM WONDERING IF MORE FUSION OWNERS THAN JUST ME HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS AND IF THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE WIRING HARNESS RATHER THAN THE JELLY JAR WHICH IS UNBROKEN. YELLOW WRENCH LIGHT KEEP COMING ON WHILE DRIVING ONLY DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 TO 70 MPH, IT ALSO INTERMITTENT THEREFORE THE DEALER CANNOT EVER FIND PROBLEM CODES. THE CODES ERASE WHEN YOU TURN OFF THE CAR. I LOSE HALF OF ENGINE POWER AND NO OTHER CONTROLS WORK SUCH AS CRUISE CONTROL AND MANUAL SHIFTING PADDLE SHIFTING. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT WAS MY : "PCM" THAT IS GIVING ME THE TROUBLE. ALSO THE ELECTRIC FAN IS RUNNING AT FULL SPEED BLOWING OUT COLD AIR, PLUS THE SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC. ALSO WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED AND RUNNING FOR ABOUT 7 TO 10 MINUTES, I TURN ON THE HEATER AT 73 DEGREES AND IT IS WARM. THEN AFTER TURNING ON THE HEATER AND NOW LEAVING FOR WORK, I ACCELERATE TO GET ONTO THE FREEWAY AND SOON NOTICED THAT THE HEATER IS NOW BLOWING COLD AIR AND I THEN TURN THE HEATER UP HIGHER TO 77 THEN THE SAME WARMTH COME OUT THEN THAT GOES AWAY TIL I TURN THE HEATER WAY UP TO 83 DEGREES. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE, I HAD THE COOLANT AND OIL REPLACED AND IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. I GET TWO WARNINGS SHOWING THE YELLOW WRENCH, "POWER REDUCED TO COOL DOWN ENGINE" AND "ENGINE OVERHEAT" THE SUNNYVALE FORD DEALER CHARGED ME $200.00 DOLLARS TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND SAID THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING. BUT THIS PROBLEM ONLY HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING AT 65 TO 75 MPH. OUR FREEWAYS SPEED LIMITS ARE HIGH ON INTERSTATES 5. I DO SEE OLDER FORD TEMPO'S GOING 80 MPH AND PASSING ME WHILE I CANNOT GO FASTER TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF OTHERS. QUITE INSULTING TO ME WHILE I SPEND OUT OF POCKET AND FORD SAYS NOTHING AND I GET BACK A BROKEN CAR THAT WORKS SOMETIMES. TWICE I HAVE TURNED RIGHT INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND MY CAR HAS SURGED FORWARDED AS IF HIT FROM BEHIND OR THE BRAKES FAILED. I AM OBVIOUSLY AT A LOW SPEED AND THE ROAD SLOPES DOWN SLIGHTLY. MY DRIVE IS GRAVEL. IT PROBABLY SURGED A GOOD CAR LENGTH BEFORE THE BRAKES ENGAGED, YET MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKES THE ENTIRE TIME. IT WAS SCARY AS HELL. THE FIRST TIME I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER CAR. THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT TODAY AND FOUND NO ISSUES. I'M NOT HAPPY WITH THIS WAITING TO HAPPEN AGAIN AS I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT SEQUENCE OF EVENTS CAUSED IT BEFORE. THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO AND THE OTHER TIME WAS ONE WEEK AGO.
CAR LURCHES FORWARD WHEN BRAKING AS IF THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING SHUTS OFF MOMENTARILY AND TURNS BACK ON. HAPPENS WHEN GOING OVER SOME BUMPS AND DURING TURNS. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS IN A TURN AROUND IN A SEPARATED HIGHWAY WITH A MEDIAN, WHERE YOU NEED TO SLOW DOWN QUICKLY, MAKING A LEFT TURN AND BRAKING AT THE SAME TIME, SO LESS THAN MAYBE 30 MPH. IT IS FRIGHTENING WHEN IT HAPPENS, AND I'M AFRAID I WILL RUN INTO SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FEB 4, 2016. THE DEALER COULD NOT REPRODUCE. I DON'T BELIEVE THEY PUT MUCH TIME INTO FINDING IT AS THE MILEAGE IN AND OUT ARE THE SAME. THE DEALERSHIP DID A PCM UPDATE BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I READ A COMPLAINT FROM ANOTHER OWNER AND IT DESCRIBES THIS PROBLEM WHICH PROMPTED ME TO FILE MY OWN COMPLAINT. THIS IS A DAILY OCCURRENCE. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST A YEAR. DOES NOT SEEM TO BE GETTING WORSE.

LOSS OF POWER TO THE VEHICLE RESULTED IN LOSS OF LIGHT TO THE CONSOLE AND TO THE CAR'S PROPULSION SYSTEM SLOWING IT FROM FREEWAY SPEEDS OF 65 MPH TO WHAT SEEMS LIKE 5 MPH OR LESS, IN THE THE EVENING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC.ALL ATTEMPTS AT APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL HAD FAILED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE, AS THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE POWER PROPULSION SYSTEM. I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE ON MOMENTUM TO A SOFT SHOULDER. THE CAR WAS TOWED OFF THE BRIDGE AND LATER TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. NO CAUSE WAS FOUND BY THE FORD TECHNICIANS AND FORD REGIONAL CUSTOMER RELATIONS SAID MY CAUSE COULD NOT BE HELPED IF THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, THUS I AM STUCK WITH A POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME DURING FREEWAY COMMUTE. THIS IS A POTENTIAL DANGER TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY AND FORD IS UNWILLING TO MITIGATE OR ADDRESS SUCH A SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM.
