THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING WILL CUT OUT UNDER SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCES AND THE CAR WILL FEEL LIKE IT IS LURCHING FORWARD INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN. THE SITUATION IS: BRAKING USING ONLY REGEN BRAKES, NO FRICTION BRAKES; STEADY PEDAL PRESSURE; GOING 15-20 MPH; TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AT LEAST 90 DEGREES LEFT OR RIGHT; DRIVING ON SMOOTH PAVEMENT. DATA I HAVE LOGGED FROM THE SOBDMC INDICATES THAT THE TRACTION MOTOR BRIEFLY REDUCES ITS NEGATIVE TORQUE WHICH CAUSES THE CAR TO SURGE FORWARD. IN ONE INSTANCE THAT I LOGGED THE NEGATIVE TORQUE SHOWS AROUND 48 FT-LBS AND THEN SUDDENLY DROPS TO ABOUT 8 FT-LBS. THE TRACTION MOTOR THEN GRADUALLY INCREASES TORQUE BACK TO THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL. IN ANOTHER INSTANCE THE NEGATIVE TORQUE SUDDENLY WENT FROM ABOUT 28 FT-LBS TO 8 FT-LBS. THE DROP IN TORQUE OCCURS IN 1/10 OF ONE SECOND PER MY LOGGED DATA. IT TAKES ABOUT 2.5-3.0 SECONDS FOR THE TRACTION MOTOR TO RETURN TO THE APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF NEGATIVE TORQUE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THIS BEHAVIOR BEGAN OCCURRING RIGHT AFTER OUR VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE WORK DONE BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP INCLUDED REPLACING THE 12V BATTERY & 3 RECALLS: 14S21, 15E03 & 15S14. I BELIEVE THAT THIS SERVICE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE PROBLEMS, AS THIS ISSUE WAS NOT PRESENT BEFORE OUR CAR WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP.
PER THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS I UPDATED MY VEHICLE TO SYNC VERSION 4.4. EVER SINCE THEM I HAVE HAD SEVERAL DISTRACTING ISSUES OCCUR WITH THE HAND FREE PORTION OF THE SYSTEM. WHEN A CALL COMES IN THE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO RING AFTER THE CALL IS ANSWERED. THE SYSTEM'S VOICE RECOGNITION IS VERY UNRELIABLE WITH THE SYSTEM EITHER NOT PERFORMING THE ACTION REQUESTED OR NOT PERFORMING AT ALL. ITS A HIT OR MISS PROBLEM WHEN USING THE VEHICLE TO MAKE A CALL. WHILE DRIVING THESE ISSUES DISTRACT THE DRIVER FROM PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENS NO MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR AT ANY SPEED. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT SO FAR HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS IT . IN THE FORD FOURMS THERE ARE PROMISES OF A NEW UPDATE SOON B BUT SO FAR NOTHING HAS HABBENED. THE VERSION OF SOFTWARE AFFECTED ARE SYNV 4.4 AND GEN2 - VERSION 3.8. AS THIS SOFTWARE IS CURRENTLY INSTALLED IN ALMOST ALL FORD UNITS COULD YOU PLEASE GET THEM TO EITHER FIX THE ISSUES WITH THE SOFTWARE OR ALLOW DEALERS TO REINSTALL EARLIER VERSIONS THAT DID FUNCTION CORRECTLY
WHILE DRIVING TO THE PARK WITH MY THREE YEAR OLD NEPHEW IN THE CAR THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FULLY OPENED WITH OUT BEING TOUCHED. I PULLED OVER AND CAR DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. I CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE AS I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE DOOR OPEN. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BUT MY NEPHEW WAS RIGHT BEHIND IT AND THIS DEFECT PUT HIS LIFE IN DANGER.
5 OUT OF 10 TIMES WHEN CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR THE TRANSMISSION BUCKS HARD. 3 OUT OF 10 TIMES TRANSMISSION SHIFTS EXCEEDINGLY HARD TO THE POINT IT SHUTTERS THE CAR. THIS HAS BEEN LOOKED AT BY 2 DEALERSHIPS AND WAS TOLD "IT'S NORMAL" I HAVE OWNED CAR SINCE 33K, CAR NOW HAS 160K, STILL BUCKS AT LEAST ONCE WEEK AND SHIFTS HARD AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.
WHEN DRIVING AROUND A RIGHT HAND TURN THE DRIVES SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN. THE LATCH WILL NOT CATCH. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSE. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT OTHER FORD CARS HAVING BUT THIS ONE IS NOT UNDER A RECALL. HOW CAN IT NOT BE? THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT REPAIR IT. THE COST IS $460 PLUS A RENTAL. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. IF IT WAS ON THE FREEWAY THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS INJURIES OR MORE NOT TO JUST MY WIFE BUT ANYONE CLOSE TO HER. THIS NEEDS A RECALL NOW NOT MONTH FROM NOW.
I WENT TO AUTONATION FORD IN DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA FOR A OIL CHANGE AND FORD RECALLS. UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE SEEMED FINE. ONCE LEAVING THE FACILITY IT ALSO SEEMED TO BE RUNNING NORMALLY. TWO DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING UNUSUAL NOISES IN THE ENGINE WHEN ACCELERATING OR BRAKING. I THEN ALERTED THE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP. I TOLD THEM I DID NOT FEEL SECURE DRIVING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY DID NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE TOWING. NEVER THE LESS, I THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR IT TO BE REVIEWED. UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY GAVE ME A RENTAL VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THEY REVIEWED THE VEHICLE AND NOTIFIED ME. THE ENGINE BRACKET WAS COMPLETED SHEARED OFF. THIS IS A BRACKET THAT KEEPS THE ENGINE IN PLACE. IT PREVENTS THE ENGINE FROM MOVING IN THE VEHICLE WHEN ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A ACCIDENT PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT NOR THERE AFTER. THERE WAS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE ON THE OUTSIDE OR UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE THAT JUSTIFIED THE DAMAGE. IN MY OPINION, THERE WAS SOMETHING OCCURRED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP DISAGREED. HOWEVER, HE DID AGREE THAT THERE WAS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THE ENGINE BRACKET TO HAVE BEEN SHEERED IN HALF. LATER, THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER ALSO LOOKED AT THE DAMAGE. HE ALSO AGREED THAT THERE WAS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THE SHEARING OF THE ENGINE BRACKET. HOWEVER, I HAD TO PAY FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE COST OF THE REPAIR. IT STILL DOES NOT MAKE SENSE AS TO WHY THE ENGINE BRACKET WAS SHEARED. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN OFF-ROAD, GRAVEL AND/OR DIRT ROADS. THE DRIVING OF THIS VEHICLE IS 80% IN TOWN AND 20% ON HIGHWAY. IN MY OPINION THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE OR THE DAMAGE OCCURRED WHILE I WAS NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS NOTIFICATION IS ONLY FOR OTHER FORD FUSION DRIVERS TO BE AWARE OF SUCH AN ISSUE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES,LOCKS,LINKAGES); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
PURCHASED A USED 2013 FORD FUSION HYBRID FROM CARMAX AROUND MAY 2015 WITH APPROX 25000 MILES. ON 8/6/15 AT APPROX 4:15PM THE CAR WAS TRAVELING APPROX 65 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE COMMAND ON THE DASH WAS GIVEN TO STOP SAFELY NOW. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTARTED THE CAR. A WEEK LATER ON 8/12/15 WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH THE SAME MESSAGE STOP SAFELY NOW APPEARED AFTER THE CAR SHOOK GENTLY. ALL POWER WAS DISABLED AND WAS ABLE TO PULL ONCE AGAIN TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART WITHOUT FURTHER ISSUE. CAR IS CURRENTLY BEING CHECKED OUT AT THE FORD DEALER.
KEEP GETTING NOTICES ABOUT 15S16 FOR DOOR LATCH. CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALER AT LEAST 5 TIMES SINCE FIRST NOTICE, PART IS NEVER IN STOCK. CAN'T GET SERVICE DONE UNTIL THEY'RE FORCED TO PROPERLY STOCK THIS PART, MEANWHILE I KEEP GETTING NOTICES I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT.
AUGUST 10, 2015 THE LATCH ON MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR RELEASED WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT RE-LATCH. THIS WAS THE DOOR MY DAUGHTER'S CAR-SEAT WAS LOCATED (SHE WAS NOT IN THE CAR THE TIME). I ONLY OWNED MY VEHICLE FOR A FEW WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. I WAS SOLD THIS FUSION WITH OPEN RECALLS BUT WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS. I CALLED BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD- NONE OF WHICH WHERE HELPFUL. I WAS TOLD BY ONE DEALER MY CAR WAS FIXED AND IT WASN'T BE ANOTHER. I STILL DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE AND HAVE NO TRUST IN MY LOCAL DEALERS AT THIS POINT. I HAVE ASKED NUMEROUS TIMES TO TRADE MY CAR IN BUT THEY ARE ONLY WILLING TO GIVE ME A FRACTION OF WHAT I PAID, LEAVING ME UPSIDE DOWN AND UNABLE TO AFFORD ANOTHER CAR.
THE DOOR LATCH ON MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR FAILED. THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH AND STAY CLOSED. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON MY CAR FOR THIS ISSUE. IN THE RECALL FORD SAYS THAT ALL LATCHES MUST BE REPLACED. OBVIOUSLY I HAVE DEFECTIVE PARTS IN MY CAR. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE THE BROKEN PART AND NOT THE OTHER THREE DOORS BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH PARTS. THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. MY PROBLEM IS BEING ABLE TO TRAVEL DOWN THE FREEWAY SAFELY AND NOT WORRY THAT MY DOORS ARE GOING TO FLY OPEN. IT'S UNETHICAL THAT FORD CAN KNOW THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NOT ADDRESS IT IN A TIMELY MANNER. I WONDER IF ANYONE IN THE FORD FAMILY IS DRIVING A CAR WITH DEFECTIVE DOOR LATCHES. I BET NOT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR BECAME INOPERABLE AND OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURY TO THE RIGHT ELBOW AND MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED. DOOR WOULD NOT REMAIN CLOSED WHILE PARKED OR DURING TRAVEL.
WHILE ARRIVING AT OUR DESTINATION THIS EVENING, MY FAMILY AND I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR DID NOT CLOSE, AFTER I PRESSED THE DOOR LOCK REMOTE CONTROL, I RETURNED TO THE CAR, THINKING SOMETHING MIGHT BE CAUGHT. I DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING OBSTRUCTING THE DOOR, SO I TRIED CLOSING THE DOOR, AND IT JUST WOULD NOT LATCH. I PROCEEDED TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE, IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE BATTERY FROM DRAINING, I WILL CALL THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, SEE IF THEY CAN REPAIR IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY AND FAILED TO CLOSE. THE CONTACT HAD TO TIE THE DOOR DOWN IN ORDER TO SAFELY CONTINUE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOCKS MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE BEFORE WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE MANUFACTURER REPLACE THE LOCK FOR THE ONLY DOOR THAT HAD NOT MALFUNCTIONED; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED UNTIL A FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
THE BRAKES ON MY 2013 FORD FUSION TITANIUM HAD BEEN IMPROPERLY "PULSING" FOR SOME TIME. BROUGHT CAR TO MY MECHANIC TO CHECK BRAKES ~7/31/15. HE FOUND THAT REAR CALIPERS, PADS AND ROTORS WERE ESSENTIALLY TOTALLY WORN WHILE FRONT BRAKES WERE FINE AND SHOWED MINIMAL WEAR. HAD TO HAVE REAR CALIPERS, PADS AND ROTORS COMPLETELY REPLACED. MECHANIC SAID THIS SORT OF BRAKE WEAR IS NOT NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE WITH ~26,000 MILES ON IT. IN FACT, IN HIS EXPERIENCE THE FRONT BRAKES USUALLY GO BEFORE THE REAR BRAKES...UPDATED 11/02/15 *BF UPDATED 01/08/2016*JS *CN
THE RIGHT PASSENGER FRONT DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE LATCH PART THAT HAS A RECALL, THIS DOOR IS INTERMITTENTLY STICKING WHICH IS MAKING ME EXTREMELY NERVOUS THAT IT IS GOING TO FLY OPEN WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY TODDLER OR SOMEONE ELSE IN THE CAR, ALONG WITH PASSENGERS ON THE ROAD. I AM IN FEAR OF BEING LOCKED INSIDE OF THE CAR AS WELL, BEING THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY KEY HOLES! THE DOOR HAS STUCK APPROXIMATELY 5 TIMES SINCE THE "REPAIR" AT FAIRWARY FORD IN BURGAW, NC. ALSO WHEN I PLACE MY CAR IN REVERSE AND PRESS THE GAS PEDAL THERE IS A DELAY SOMETIMES BEFORE IT STARTS TO REVERSE, THIS CAN BE FATAL IF SOMEONE IS EVER BEHIND ME!
I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE ORIGINALLY MY DOOR LATCH STOPPED WORKING. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR, THEY TOLD ME THE ELECTRONIC STEERING, OR THE EPAS, WENT OUT ON THE CAR. THEY SAID IT'S NOT THE FIRST TIME THEY'VE SEEN THIS HAPPEN AND WEREN'T SURPRISED AT ALL. I'VE CONTACTED FORD AND THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND BOTH TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE BUT KEEP THE RECEIPTS IF I GET IT REPAIRED JUST IN CASE THERE IS A RECALL. ALSO, THIS ISSUE IS UNRELATED TO THE STEERING BOLT RECALL.
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH FAILED. THIS IS THE THIRD LATCH TO FAIL ON THE CAR. WE HAD BOTH PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCHES FAIL LAST YEAR, FILED A REPORT FOR BOTH. LATCH WAS REPLACED, NEW DESIGN DOOR LATCHES APPRENTLY UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR.
I HIT TWO VEHICLES AND WENT A DITCH HEAD FIRST AND THE AIR BAG DIDN'T GO OFF. NOW I GET BAD MIGRAINES.

THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIRS DUE TO THE PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST CONSCIOUSNESS AND CRASHED INTO TWO VEHICLES AND INTO A DITCH. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES AND RECEIVED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LATCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED IT INDICATED A SAFETY SENSOR WASN'T WORKING. EVERYTHING ELSE SEEMED FINE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE AIR/DEFROST SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING CAUSING WINDOWS TO FOG, I ALSO LOST CONTROL OVER THE VOLUME AND ALL OF THE CONSOLE SYSTEMS. ONLY 2 OF THE WINDOWS WOULD GO DOWN. BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER (ABOUT 5 MINUTES) EVERYTHING STARTED WORKING AND AT THE SAME TIME WHILE DRIVING MY ELECTRONIC SEAT STARTED MOVING FORWARD. FINALLY STOPPING MAYBE IN ONE OF THE PRE-PROGRAMED POSITIONS. WE HAVE HAD PRIOR ISSUES THIS PAST WINTER WITH LOSING CONTROL OVER THE CONSOLE CONTROLS AND THE HEAT SHUTTING OFF. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME HAVING ISSUES WITH THE SEAT MOVING ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING. NOTHING WAS DONE BECAUSE WE WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO CODE GIVEN WHEN WE BROUGHT IT IN TO BE FIXED AND SINCE IT WAS NOT EXHIBITING THE PROBLEM AT THE TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS FIXED SINCE OWNING THE CAR. THE FACT THAT THEY ONLY WORK INTERMITTENTLY MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED TO THESE OTHER INCIDENTS.
AT AN OUTSIDE FUNCTION, LOADED MY 2 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT THEN PUT MY BAGS ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. SHUT THE DOOR ONLY TO FIND OUT IT IS NO LONGER LATCHING SO MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AT ALL. IT WAS A SATURDAY JUST BEFORE NOON. CONTACTED 3 DEALERS ALL OF WHOM TOLD ME TO DRIVE MY CAR TO THEM BUT THEY WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT UNTIL MONDAY. NONE HAVE PART AVAILABLE AS THIS ISSUE IS ACTUALLY A RECALL. TOLD THEM IT WOULD BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE, LET ALONE WITH A TODDLER IN THE BACKSEAT. THEY ALL SAID THEY COULDN'T TOW IT UNLESS I PAID THE TOW BILL. ONE SUGGESTED I HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE DRIVING IT TO THEM. THE OTHER ADVISED I NEEDED TO FIND A PIECE OF ROPE TO TIE IT CLOSED. NO ONE KNOWS HOW LONG BEFORE IT IS ABLE TO BE REPAIRED. THEY'VE ALL SUGGESTED I DROP IT OFF UNTIL IT CAN BE REPAIRED BUT NONE CAN OFFER A RENTAL. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE. MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH WORK AND WE HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN. I ASKED WHAT I WOULD DO IN THE EVENT THAT IT RAINED BECAUSE THE INSIDE OF MY CAR WOULD GET WET. SO FOR NOW I'M STUCK AT HOME WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS USELESS WITH NO SOLUTION IN SITE. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY THE SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME FLASHING ON AND THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. ONCE I GOT TO MY DESTINATION, I PARKED THE CAR. THE NEXT MORNING THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT OPERATING AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEELS. I HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THE POWER STEERING GEAR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, BUT IF IT HAD FAILED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN SO LUCKY.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, AND FOR 2-3 SECONDS THE DASH, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, CLIMATE AND ENTERTAINMENT CONTROLS WENT DARK AND GAVE NO READINGS. THEN THE CAR CHIMED LIKE IT DOES AT STARTUP AND THE CONTROLS AND SPEEDOMETER CAME BACK.
MY DOOR LATCHES HAVE BROKEN ON THREE OF MY FOUR DOORS. EACH TIME IT IS LIKE PULLING TEETH TO GET A PART. ON THE SECOND TIME, I WENT IN TO GET IT FIXED, IT TOOK 2 1/2 WEEKS. THE RECALL NOTICE SAYS WAIT FOR DEALERSHIP TO CONTACT WHEN PARTS AVAILABLE UNLESS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING CONCERN WITH VEHICLE. THIS IS A HAZARD TO MY SAFETY AND OTHER DRIVERS. ALLOWING SOME ONE TO DRIVE WITH DOORS THAT CAN COME LOOSE, WHEN 3/4 HAVE HAD A ISSUES. I DON'T FEEL SAFE. PLUS I AM PAYING FOR A CAR THAT IS NOT FULLY UP TO STANDARD. WE JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 MONTHS AGO. 4 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST MONTH THE CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE EITHER ON THE HIGHWAY OR GOING UP HILLS. ONCE IT SHIFTS INTO NEUTRAL THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO IS COAST TO A SAFE STOP, SHUT THE CAR OFF, AND WAIT A WHILE TO RESTART IT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN YOU ARE GOING 70 + MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT FORD VEHICLES ARE HAVING ALSO INCLUDES THE FUSION NOT JUST THE FOCUS AND FIESTA.
THE BATTERY DIES AFTER THE CAR IS OFF AND PARKED FOR 1-2 DAYS. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE IN 2 YEARS AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS A DEFECT WITH SYNC WITH MY FORD MODULE. IN THE TRUNK OF THE CAR, THE SHEET METAL THAT IS ON THE TOP OF THE TRUNK, IT HAS VERY SHARP EDGES.. WHILE LOADING TRUNK, MY HAND/FINGER WAS CUT ON THE SHARP EDGE. I FOLDED THE BACK SEAT DOWN AND WHEN I WENT TO PUT IT UP THE SEAT BELT FOR THE MIDDLE PASSENGER IN THE BACK SEAT LOCKED AND I COULD NOT GET THE SEAT TO COME UP. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS HELD FOR 7 DAYS AND THEY TOLD ME IT "JUST STARTED WORKING OVER THE WEEKEND AND WE DON'T KNOW WHY IT FAILED BECAUSE THERE WEREN'T ANY ERROR CODES TO READ". HERE IS THE REPORT FROM THE DEALERSHIP: "TOWED IN WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND STOP SAFELY LIGHT CAME ON ALSO CAUSED BY NO CRANK, NO START. SELF TEST, 20 DTC S. CLEARED DTC S. STARTED OK AFTER DTC S CLEARED. ROAD TESTED & RETESTED, DTC S DID NOT RETURN. NEEDS TO BE DRIVEN MORE." I HAVE PLAYED PHONE TAG WITH THE FORD CUSTOMER REP FOR WEEKS NOW AND I HAVE GROWN IRRITATED. I DO NOT HAVE ANY TRUST IN THIS CAR TO RELIABLY KEEP MYSELF, MY WIFE AND NEWBORN CHILD SAFE.
