WHILE REVERSING THE 2013 FUSION OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THERE WAS A WARNING DISPLAY ON THE SCREEN "STEERING WHEEL FAULT, SERVICE REQUIRED". I HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT WARNING BEFORE IN THE THREE YEARS OF OWNING THE CAR. I PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY BUT WHEN I STARTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO EXIT, I COULD NOT DO IT AS THE STEERING WAS VERY STIFF. I TRIED TO PULL IT BUT IT WOULDN'T MOVE. THE CAR WAS STILL ON AT THIS POINT AND THE ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS TO EITHER REVERSE THE CAR OR PUT INTO D AND DRIVE IT FORWARD TO PARK IT AGAIN, WHICH IS WHAT I DID. THAT WAS CERTAINLY A SCARY EXPERIENCE - NOT HAVING CONTROL OF THE STEERING - BUT FORTUNATELY IT HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION AND NOT ON PUBLIC ROADS. WHAT CONCERNS ME IS WHAT IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AROUND THE CITY OR, WORSE YET, THE FREEWAY. I HOPE THIS IS ADDRESSED AND A RECALL IS ISSUED SO WHATEVER THE PROBLEM IS FIXED.
ENGINE RUNNING HOT ENGINE REDUCE POWER TO LOWER TEMPS. THIS VEHICLE IS ONE OF THE 2013 FORD FUSION 1.6 LITER ENGINE. VIN # [XXX] NHTSA RECALL # 12V551000 FORD RECALL # 12S41 THIS VIN # HAS THE EIGHTH LETTER "R" AS A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY BY [XXX] ON NOVEMBER 30, 2012. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED DURING THIS TIME OF THE EFFECTED VEHICLES. FORD IS DENYING MY CLAIM WITH THIS ENGINE THEY CLAIM MY VEHICLE LEFT THE MFG ON 12/17/2012. 17 DAYS AFTER THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED. BUT THEY CANNOT PRODUCE ANY DOCUMENTATION THAT MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED AT THE MFG PRIOR TO SHIPPING TO THE DEALER AND THIS RECALL FIXED. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW DELIVERED TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM ANOTHER LOCATION WITH JUST UNDER 200 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I NOTICED MY FIRST ISSUE WHEN THE MOTOR WOULD STALL GOING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED 15-20MPH THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 22,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND ALSO WOULD HESITATE TO START. I ONLY ASSUMED IT WAS BAD FUEL BEING SUCH A NEW VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED PERIODICALY UP UNTILE THE ENGINE GAVE AN OVER TEMPRATURE COOLANT DISPLAY KILLING ALL BUT IDLE POWER TO THE INGINE MAKING THE CAR UNDRIVABLE. THUS I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AT EXCACTLY JANUARY 3, 2016 WITH 64,056 ON THE ODOMETER. I HAD THEN NOTICED RECALLS FOR THIS PARTICULAR MOTOR IN FORDS FUSIONS AND ESCAPES WITH THIS PARTICULAR SIZE ENGINE. AFTER THE RECALLS REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED FOR MY VEHICLE I STILL EXPERIENCED ENGINE STALLS, BUT LESS FREQUENT THROUGHOUT THIS PERIOD AND ROUGH IDLE AT INITIAL START OF THE ENGINE MORE FREQUENTLY AS TIME PASSED. THE OVER TEMPRATURE COOLANT MESSAGE CAME ON AGAIN, AT 87,000 GIVE OR TAKE ( AGAIN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP SO THEY WILL HAVE REPORTED MILAGE). I WAS INFORMED THAT NUMEROUS REPAIRS HAD TO BE MADE AND ARE NOT COVERED UNDER ANY RECALLS ALTHOUGH I FEEL THIS VEHICLE MORE THAN MEETS THE CRITERIA FOR NUMEROUS RECALLS. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE CHECKED FOR COOLANT LEAKS FROM ANOTHER CERTIFIED SHOP AND NO HOSES HAVE BEEN FOUND TO HAVE ANY LEAKS.
I ONLY SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FILL THE 16.5 GALLON TANK WITH 13.5 GALLON'S OF FUEL.
THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE HAS A HARSH SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEARS. FOR THE MOST PART ALL OTHER SHIFTS ARE SMOOTH. THE JERKY SHIFT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, NOT JUST WHEN THE CAR IS COLD. I'M AFRAID THAT THIS IS CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT ONE DAY IT WILL STOP WORKING ALTOGETHER.
TAKATA RECALL. CAR DIED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. THE FIRST 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN ONE MINUTE OF STARTING CAR AND PUTTING INTO GEAR. THE THIRD TIME WAS AFTER I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR SOME TIME AND PULLED AWAY FROM BANK TELLER WINDOW. BROUGHT TO DEALER IN JANUARY FOR ANOTHER RECALL AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY INDICATION OF PROBLEM IN HISTORY FOR STALLING PROBLEM (THAT WAS AFTER FIRST TIME IT DIED). AM TAKING CAR IN FOR CAR LATCH RECALL AND WILL HAVE THEM CHECK AGAIN REGARDING THE SECOND AND THIRD INCIDENTS.
MY 2013 FORD FUSION HAS A PROBLEM EVERY TIME I REFUEL IT. 1) IT DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN I FINISHED PUMPING GAS, I HAVE TO KEEP TRYING TO TURN IT ON AND OR STEP ON GAS PEDDLE FOR IT TO TURN ON, ALSO I HAVE TO HAVE MY AC OFF CAUSE I GET THIS HORRIBLE SMELL AND AT ONE POINT SAW FUMES COMING OUT FROM MY AIR VENTS WHICH I THEN SUDDENLY TURN OFF THE AC BUT MY VEHICLE HAD ALSO TURNED OFF BY IT SELF. 2) IT HAS TURNED OFF TWICE WHILE I DRIVE OFF FROM THE GAS STATION, ON THE SAFE SIDE IT TURNED OFF BEFORE I EVEN MADE IT TO THE STREET/ROAD. I THEN HAD A RECALL ON IT AND TOOK IT FOR SERVICE FOR SOMETHING INVOLVING THE DOOR HANDLES AT THAT TIME I REPORTED MY PROBLEM TO A FORD MECHANIC/PERSONNEL AND THE GENTLE MEN ADVISED ME HE WILL NOT BE REPLACING THE PROBLEM SINCE IT WAS NOT ON THE RECALL AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE PAYED FROM MY POCKET, WHICH I DONT HAVE THE BUDGET FOR IT, AND 3) WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ABOUT A 15 MILE DRIVE FROM NEIGHBORING CITY, MY VEHICLE HAD LOST POWER AND STARTED SLOWING DOWN AT WHICH POINT I REALIZED IT HAD TURNED OFF ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEED OF 50-60MPHS WHILE MY SHIFT WAS IN DRIVE AND MY KEY WAS TURNED IN THE ON POSITION. THIS WAS AT NIGHT TIME SINCE I WORK THE AFTERNOON I THEN SLOWED DOWN TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND TURNED IT BACK ON WITH OUT A PROBLEM, THE FOLLOWING DAY IT DID NOT DO THE SAME THING AND AS OF 12/19/2017, I HAVE SEEN REPORT OF THE FORD EXPLORER WITH SIMILARITIES OF THE SMELL BUT DID NOT FIND OF THE FORD FUSION WHICH I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THIS ISSUE.
I PARKED MY 2013 FORD FUSION WITH 52,000 MILES ON IT FOR 3 DAYS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND WHEN I STARTED IT A MESSAGE SAYING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON AND THERE ISN'T ANY POWER STEERING. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY WILL LOOK AT IT BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE TECH'S TIME, I THEN LOOKED ON THE WEB AND IT SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS FOR OVER 445K FORD CARS, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF IT BECAUSE OF WHERE THE CAR WAS MADE. SO I AM CONFUSED, 1 PART OF THE CAR IS RECALLED IF IT WAS PUT IN ONE PLANT, BUT THE SAME PART PUT IN ANOTHER PLANT ISN'T. THEY WERE ALL MADE IN ONE PLANT, SO WHY DOES IT MATTER WHERE IT WAS INSTALLED. THE PART IS DEFECTED, IF I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THIS HAPPENED, AND HAD AN ACCIDENT, WOULD IT BE MY FAULT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS MADE IN A SAFE FACTORY WHERE THE PART IS NOT BEING RECALLED? SAME PART, SAME PROBLEM, WHY ISN'T THIS BEING RECALLED WITH THE OTHERS.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY KIDS AND OUT OF NOWHERE, I RECEIVED A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" MESSAGE DISPLAY ACROSS THE DECK AND I COULDN'T STEER. IT TOOK IMMENSE EFFORT TO TURN; AND FORTUNATELY FOR US, IT OCCURRED REALLY CLOSE TO OUR HOUSE BUT ON A MAJOR CITY STREET ON THE WAY HOME. I READ ONLINE THAT THERE ARE TONS OF INCIDENTS WITH THEIR FORD VEHICLE. I READ AN ARTICLE ONLINE THAT FORD RECALLED OVER 450K VEHICLES FOR THIS ISSUE BUT WHEN I LOOKED UP MY VIN ON SAFERCAR.GOV AND THE FORD WEBSITE; THERE ISN'T A RECALL ISSUED FOR IT. THERE SEEM TO BE DRIVERS OUT THERE WHO WERE BOTH MORE OR LESS FORTUNATE THAN I WAS. I WANTED TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO SEE IF I CAN GET THIS ISSUE INVESTIGATED.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN A COMMERCIAL ARE THE WHEEL STOPPED STEERING. I COULD NOT MOVE THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT AND GOT STUCK IN AN INTERSECTION. A POLICE OFFICER CAME AND SAT WITH ME WHILE WE WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS LOOKED AT WHEN THEY OPENED AFTER THE WEEKEND. THEY PUT IN A REQUEST TO FORD TO ALLOW THE PIECE TO BE REPLACED UNDER CURRENT RECALLS RELATED TO THE STEERING.APPARENTLY THE RACK AND PINION CAN JUST BREAK AFTER TWO YEARS OF DRIVING. SINCE THE BUMPER TO BUMPER COVERAGE WAS UP THEY SAID IT WOULD HAVE TO BE PAID FOR BY THE CUSTOMER. A CAR SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO FALL APART AFTER 59,000 MILES IF IT IS KEPT IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. IF I HAD BEEN INJURED OR SOMEONE ELSE HAS BEEN, THIS WOULD BE A VERY DIFFERENT CONVERSATION. THE PIECES THEY NEED TO REPLACE AND INCLUDING THE LABOR ROUND UP TO $2,000. *JS

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO STEER THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC AND NO HILL ASSIST" MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MULTIPLE DEALERS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
WHILE TRAVELING LONG DISTANCE ON A HIGHWAY WITH 29,000 MILES ON THE CAR I GOT A NOTICE TO SERVICE THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOW. UPON TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND BACK ON THE POWER STEERING NO LONGER WORKS. THE VEHICLE IS EXCEPTIONALLY HARD TO TURN AND NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN AND AROUND NORMAL STORES WITHOUT THE ASSIST. MY WIFE CANNOT STEER THE VEHICLE AT ALL.
RETURNED HOME FROM AN HOUR TRIP AND PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY. TURNED OFF THE CAR, WENT INSIDE, CAME OUT 30 MINS LATER, ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR AND DEAD SILENCE. RADIO AND ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WERE STILL WORKING. CHECKED THE ODB WITH AN ODB READER AND NO CODES. CALLED AAA WHO CAME OUT AND TESTED THE BATTERY AND FOUND IT FULLY CHARGED AND WORKING. THEY THEN CHECKED SEVERAL FUSES AND ALL WORKED FINE. AS A LAST RESORT, HE COMPLETELY PULLED AND DISINFECTED THE BATTERY, WAITED 2-3 MINUTES RECONNECTED IT, WAITED ANOTHER 2-3 MINUTES AND THEN THE CAR STARTED. HE FELT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE UNIT-THEFT SHUTTING DOWN THE CAR PREVENTING THE KEY TO TURN. CALLED FORD AND THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT. WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A NUMBER OF ISSUES RELATING TO FORD VEHICLES, NEWER, AS IN 2010 AND NEWER THAT ENCOUNTER THIS ISSUE AND/OR A GROUND ISSUE DUE TO PAINTING ON THE GROUND AREA. CONCERN IS, THIS TIME IT SHUT DOWN IN MY DRIVEWAY, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT SHUTDOWN WHILE BEING DRIVEN?
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR DYING WHILE ACCELERATING FROM STOPS. TOOK TO LOCAL FORD DEALER, NOTHING WRONG. TOOK TO LOCAL MECHANIC AFTER IT DIED ON ME AND THEY SAID SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING FOR THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE HAS DIED APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES WHILE AT STOP SIGNS AND STOP LIGHTS, WHEN YOU GO TO TAKE OFF, IT ACTS LIKE IT ISN'T GETTING GAS. I HAVE CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT SAY THERE IS NO PROGRAM UPDATES FOR THROTTLE BOTTLE. KEVIN AT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WENT ON TO TELL ME THAT WHAT I FOUND ONLINE WITH THROTTLE BODY ISSUES WAS NOT TRUE, UNLESS I FOUND IT ON FORD.COM. THIS ALL STARTED ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18TH.
I HAD TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR REPAIR DUE TO THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON WHILE DRIVING. EACH TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WAS FIXED AND THEN WOULD COME BACK ON WITHIN A FEW WEEKS. THEY ALSO TOLD ME ITS ONLY A LIGHT MALFUNCTION AND THE AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY SO DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH. THEN I SAW NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V597000 AND SAW THAT IT MAY NOT DEPLOY AND WAS VERY FRUSTRATED. I TOOK IT IN FOR THIS REPAIR IN MARCH 2015, AND AFTER BEING IN THE SHOP FOR OVER 3 WEEKS WITH THIS ISSUE THEY TOLD ME THAT IT SHOULD BE A PERMANENT FIX. WELL IT WAS NOT, AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT WOULD COME BACK ON EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT TURN OFF THE NEXT TIME YOU STARTED THE CAR. AROUND DECEMBER 2015 IT BEGAN TO STAY ON AND I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING AROUND IN A CIRCLE CONSTANTLY TRYING TO REPAIR A CRITICAL SAFETY DEVICE.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET AND WAS HIT IN THE REAR BY A CAR GOING VERY FAST. I HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND MY AIR BAG DEPLOYED. A FEW SECONDS LATER MY AIR BAG BURST INTO FLAMES. I USED MY WATER BOTTLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. I WAS DAZED AND HURT AND IF I WAS UNCONSCIOUS RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN EXTREME.

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT A CRASH HAD NOT OCCURRED AND THE CAUSE OF THE DEPLOYMENT WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
I HAVE NOTED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB) MALFUNCTION AFFECTING FORD FUSION 2009-2013 MODELS WITH 2.5/3.0L ENGINES AND THE RELATED NHTSA INVESTIGATION PE 13-003, ALONG WITH FORD'S CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. I HAVE ALSO NOTED THE POWER LOSS ISSUE DESCRIBED IN ANOTHER 2013 FORD FUSION OWNER'S EXPERIENCE (NHTSA COMPLAINT ID #10810590. BOTH SEEM TO BE RELATED TO THE PROBLEM I AM NOW HAVING WITH MY 2013 FORD FUSION SE, WHICH IS THE ECOBOOST MODEL WITH THE 1.6L TURBO CHARGED ENGINE. AFTER GETTING AN OBD WARNING ALONG WITH ROUGH ENGINE OPERATION AND LOWER-THAN-EXPECTED FUEL EFFICIENCY, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND NOTED THAT THE OIL MINDER WOULD NOT RESET. THAT REPAIR WAS PERFORMED UNDER WARRANTY DURING THANKSGIVING WEEKEND 2015. SOON AFTER, ON DECEMBER 6TH, THE CAR EXPERIENCED POWER LOSS ON TWO OCCASIONS UPON LEAVING PARKING LOTS; IN OTHER WORDS, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED WITHIN A MINUTE OF DRIVING AWAY FROM THE PARKING SPACE. THE ENGINE SPUTTERED (RAN ROUGHLY) THEN LOST POWER, WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN A FEW DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS, WITH THAT OCCURRENCE ALSO TAKING PLACE UPON LEAVING A PARKING LOT. FURTHERMORE, IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON DEC. 29TH AND ON JANUARY 2, 2016, WITH THE LATTER TIME OCCURRING IMMEDIATELY TURNING ONTO NOLENSVILLE ROAD FROM A PARKING LOT. WITH ALL OF THOSE INSTANCES HAPPENING IN NASHVILLE, TN, COLD WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. ENGINE TEMPERATURE WAS NOT AT A FACTOR AS THE CAR'S MOST RECENT FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED WITH THE ENGINE STILL WARM. SINCE THIS PROBLEM BEGAN AFTER THE AFOREMENTIONED CANISTER PURGE VALVE REPLACEMENT, I AM GOING TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REVISIT THAT WORK AND DETERMINE THE REASON WHY I AM NOT SEEING A WARNING LIGHT WHEN THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION OCCURS. I WILL ALSO HAVE THE CAR EVALUATED FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED ETB PROBLEM.

THE MECHANISM THAT CANCELS THE TURN SIGNAL AFTER COMPLETING THE TURN IS MALFUNCTIONING. INTERMITTENTLY THE TURN SIGNAL WILL CANCEL PREMATURELY, POTENTIALLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO TURN INTO THE PATH OF AN ONCOMING VEHICLE WHICH THINKS THE DRIVER IS NOT TUNING, BECAUSE THE TURN SIGNAL IS NOT FLASHING. FORD ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS...WHILE I WAS DRIVE BACK FROM PHILADELPHIA ON SATURDAY NIGHT, MY CAR BEGAN TO HAVE MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. WHILE GOING UP A HILL ON I95 AFTER CROSSING THE LONG BRIDGE, I EXPERIENCED DRASTICALLY REDUCE SPEED. EVEN WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS, NOTHING HAPPEN. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHTS SO I IMMEDIATELY PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHT BUT THE CARS WERE COMING UP ON ME FAST AND SWERVING TO AVOID HITTING ME. WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, I WAS ONLY ABLE TO MAINTAIN A SPEED OF 40 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT UP THE HILL AND BY STAYING IN THE SLOW LANE. ONCE I GOT TO A STOPPING PLACE, I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. I WAIT A LITTLE WHILE THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON. IT STUDDAR BUT STARTED AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I USE THE CARS INTERNAL ENGINE CHECK WHICH SHOWED NOT PROBLEMS SO I CONTINUE UNTIL I MADE IT BACK TO MY HOME. THE NEXT DAY THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT WOULD NOT START. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHO DIAGNOSTICS SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART IN MY MODEL YEAR. I TOOK MY 2013 FORD FUSION (THEN STILL UNDER WARRANTY) TO THE DEALER IN SEPTEMBER 2014 BECAUSE MY WIPERS WERE SOMETIMES BOUNCING/ VIBRATING (AT TIMES VIOLENTLY) WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING, AND WOULD HESITATE INTERMITTENTLY AS THEY MOVED ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND DISMISSED IT. THEY CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. I VIDEOTAPED THE PROBLEM SHORTLY AFTER I PICKED-UP THE CAR AND SHARED THE YOUTUBE LINK WITH THE DEALER. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD. WHEN THE RAIN SLOWED, I MADE MY WAY TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND REMINDED THEM OF THE PROBLEM A YEAR EARLIER. THEY DIAGNOSED A WIPER MOTOR FAILURE AND--IN SPITE OF MY EARLIER VISIT UNDER WARRANTY WITH THE WIPER PROBLEM--DECLINED TO FIX IT UNLESS I PAID FOR THE REPAIR AS THE CAR WAS NOW NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT THE REPAIR, THUS I WAS AT THE MERCY OF THE DEALER FOR A $533 BILL, WHICH I PAID. I BELIEVE THE FAILURE OF THE WIPERS ON THE HIGHWAY WAS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD THE DEALER SERVICED THE VEHICLE WHEN I BROUGHT THE PROBLEM TO THEIR ATTENTION IN 2014. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT FAILURE DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I CAN ONLY ASSUME THE DEALER FAILED TO MAKE THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE COST. THE FAILURE OF THE WIPER MOTORS WAS GRADUAL AND PROVIDED AMPLE WARNING FOR THE DEALER, BUT THEY FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT IN A TIMELY WAY. IN THE FUTURE, PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE VIBRATION AND HESITATION THAT TELEGRAPH POTENTIAL WIPER FAILURE SHOULD BE DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY WHEN BROUGHT TO A DEALER'S ATTENTION.

WE OWN A 2013 FUSION HYBRID AND HAVE EXPERIENCED A VERY SCARY FEELING AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES FOR FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT COMES TO A STOP, AFTER APPLYING THE BREAK. FOR THAT PERIOD OF TIME FROM PUTTING ON THE BREAKS TO THE VEHICLE STOPPING, IT FEELS LIKE WE HAVE LOST CONTROL OVER THE CAR. WE HAVE BEEN OBSERVING THIS AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK ON AN AVERAGE. LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER FOR A WEEK LAST YEAR, AND THEY CLAIM THEY COULD NOT OBSERVE THE SAME THING AFTER DRIVING FOR MILES. IT IS HARD TO KNOW IN WHAT SCENARIO THIS THING OCCURS, BUT IS DEFINITELY A SCARY EXPERIENCE.MY HUSBAND GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT A MONTH AGO WHERE TWO CARS IN FRONT OF HIM GOT INVOLVED. HE WAS AT A GOOD DISTANCE AND HE HIT BREAKS, BUT NEXT THING HE KNOWS IS THE AIR BAGS ARE BLOWN AND HIS FUSION HAD A GOOD AMOUNT OF DAMAGE IN THE FRONT. HE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THAT MOMENT, BUT IT MAKES ME THINK AND HOPE THAT IT WAS NOT THE SAME SCENARIO WHERE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND HE LOST CONTROL OVER IT. IT IS UNFORTUNATE FOR ME TO SAY THIS, BUT I WORK FOR FORD THROUGH ONE OF THE VENDOR COMPANIES AND STILL CAN'T HELP WITH THIS SITUATION. WE DID WHAT WE COULD BY TALKING TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE DEALER, BUT COULD NOT GET ANY ANSWERS. I AM HOPING THAT MORE PEOPLE WHO ARE FACING THIS ISSUE WILL WRITE HERE AND THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. SUDDEN POWER LOSS, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2013 FUSION CHANGING FREEWAYS AND THE CAR LOST POWER, SLOWED TO A CRAWL, NO ACCELERATION. VERY DANGEROUS. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM, MY WIFE TOLD THEM THEY BETTER FIND THE PROBLEM, SHE WAS SCARED TO DRIVE IT. THEY KEPT IT A LITTLE LONGER SAID THEY CHANGED OUT SOME MODULE BUT INSISTED NOTHING WAS SHOWING BAD. SO SHE PICKED IT UP AND ABOUT A WEEK LATER SHE WAS GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND HER WAZE APP TOLD HER TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT UP AHEAD, SO AS SHE IS GETTING OFF THE CAR DID THE SAME THING, SUDDEN POWER LOSS. THIS TIME SHE WAS OFF CRENSHAW IN LA, NOT A GOOD PART OF CALI. SHE WAS MORE FRIGHTENED THAT TIME. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A DIFFERENT FORD DEALER. SAME THING THEY SAID THEY DROVE THE CAR 312 MILES AND NO ISSUE. I TOLD THEM I AM NOT PICKING UP THE CAR. I CALLED FORD THEY OPENED A CASE WHICH REALLY MEANS NOTHING. NO ONE THIS WHOLE TIME HAS MENTIONED THE THOUSANDS OF OWNERSR HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SO NOW I HAVE LEFT THE SERVICE MGR A MSG THAT I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE ETB AND I WANT IT REPLACED. WE WILL SEE IF THEY COVER IT. SUPPOSEDLY THERE IS A FIX ORDER AND THE WARRANTY IS 10 YEARS AND 130K ON THE THROTTLE BODY. WE SHALL SEE. THIS PROBLEM WILL KILL SOMEONE IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME. IMAGINE MAKING A LEFT TURN AND A SEMI IS COMING, AND YOUR CAR DIES.

REAR SEAT BECAME LOCKED WITH FOLDING SEAT IN LAY DOWN POSITION. UNABLE TO UNLOCKS EAT BELT OR RAISE SEAT.
THE DOOR LATCHES WERE KNOWN BY FORD TO BE FAULTY. WHILE DRIVING, THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED AND THE DOOR OPENED. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WE WERE TOLD FORD DIRECTED THEM TO NOT FIX THE ISSUE UNTIL THE LATCH FAILED. I THEN CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THE DECISION WAS A JOINT ONE BETWEEN THEM AND THE NHTSA, ESSENTIALLY PASSING THE BLAME. FORD HAS KNOWINGLY PUT UNSAFE CARS ON THE ROAD AND SHOWN NO CONCERN FOR THE PERSONAL SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.

AT A STOP LIGHT ON A BUSY ROAD, IT STARTED SHAKING AND RUNNING ROUGH, DEALER COULD NOT FIND CAUSE AND SENT CAR HOME. DRIVING DOWN A STREET 2 DAYS LATER, IT LOST ALMOST ALL POWER LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS, BARELY MADE IT TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS HARD TO RESTART. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, DEALER STATES THE ISSUE WAS FOUND TO BE A FAULTY FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. CAR ONLY HAD 23,700 MILES ON IT.
REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEED REPLACED AT ONLY 37,000 MILES.
DEALER SERVICE MANAGER STATES THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR SUFFERED A "CATASTROPHIC FAILURE" OF ITS INTERNAL PARTS. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN. DEALER STATES THE ENTIRE AC SYSTEM HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2500.00. THE PCM MAY ALSO BE AFFECTED BUT THAT CANNOT BE DETERMINED UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS IN A STATE WHERE IT CAN BE STARTED, WHICH WON'T BE ACHIEVED UNTIL AFTER THE ENTIRE AC SYSTEM IS REPLACED. THIS EXORBITANT REPAIR COST IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY.

OF COURSE THEY FOUND NO CODES AND NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING WRONG. I ALSO CONTACTED THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER WHILE IT WAS IN THE SHOP TO DOCUMENT THAT WE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THEY SEEMED HELPFUL HOWEVER, UNLESS FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEIR ENGINEERING COMMUNITY ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM AND DO SOMETHING TO ADDRESS IT, IT WILL FOREVER BE A GHOST IN THE MACHINE, WITH THE BLAME AND DOUBT FALLING ON THE VEHICLE OWNERS, NOT UNLIKE TOYOTA'S WELL DOCUMENTED, FATAL AND SHAMEFUL UNINTENDED ACCELERATION CASES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT OUR SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V250000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
FIRST PROBLEM WITH THE CAR WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH FIRST STARTING IT IN THE MORNING WITH IT ACTING AS IF IT WASNT GETTING GAS UNTIL I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR WHILE IN PARK, DEALERSHIP CLAIMED IT WAS A CRACKED WATER PUMP. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, THEY REPLACED HEAD GASKET AND INTAKE GASKET DUE TO THE CODE FROM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEN THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING ON THE INTERSTATE AND WHEN I PULLED OVER AND TURNED IT OFF IT MADE LOUD CRACKING NOISES AND WOULDNT START. DEALERSHIP SAYS A PIECE UNDERNEATH THE WATER PUMP FELL OFF THEY BELIEVE IT WAS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THE BOLT WAS HALF THE SIZE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE AND RUINED THE ENGINE. FIRST PROBLEMS STARTED IN MAY UNTIL MOST RECENT ONE IN SEPT.
POWER STEERING FAILURE ON HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING AT 70MPH. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED FAILURE OF STEERING RACK AND REPLACED. NEW RACK WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH VEHICLE MAIN COMPUTER. AS OF 9/27/15 FORD WILL NOT PROVIDE PLAN TO RESOLVE, TIMELINE TO RESOLVE, OR ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. VEHICLE REMAINS AT DEALER FACILITY AND IS NOT BEING RELEASED BECAUSE DEALER REPORTS "WE DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WILL DO."
LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT PASSENGER SIDE HAS DIMMED REFLECTIVE SURFACE APPEARS CLOUDY AS PER RECALL 12C27 WAS ORIGINATED TO ADDRESS, THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO THIS RECALL'S MANUFACTURE DATE OF OCTOBER 04-2012 AND AT THE AFFECTED FACILITY OF HERMOSILLO, MEXICO, THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED YET REFUSES TO HONOR THE REPAIR STATING THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY WIFE AND I WERE ENTERING A PARKING LOT WITH THE FORD FUSION HYBRID AND SLOWED DOWN, THEN STARTED TO SLOWLY ACCELERATE, THE FFH WOULDN'T GO FORWARD NORMALLY AND SORT OF STALLED. MY HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY STATE WAS LOW (1/8 CHARGED) AND THE CAR HAD ABOUT 3/4 TANK OF GAS. IT BEGAN WITH A SERIES OF SURGES THAT WERE CAUSED BY THE CAR NOT KNOWING WHICH PROPULSION SOURCE TO USE. IT TRIED THE GAS ENGINE, SURGED FORWARD A FEW FEET THEN TRIED TO SWITCH BACK TO THE ELECTRIC MOTOR, ETC, - THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO SURGE OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND PARK SAFELY. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TRYING TO FORCE THE GAS ENGINE TO TAKE OVER AND THAT CAUSED AN ENGINE STUTTER AND AGAIN THE CAR TRIED EACH SOURCE OF POWER - I TURNED THE KEY OFF. UPON A RESTART IT WAS AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG, IT RAN NORMALLY SO I RAN A FORD VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT (VHR) WHILE SITTING IN THE CAR IDLING, THAT REPORT IS SENT TO MY FORD OWNER'S ACCOUNT, I DID THIS TO TRY AND CATCH ANY ERRANT DTC'S (TROUBLE CODES). AFTER THAT I RESTARTED THE CAR INTO THE ENGINEERING TEST MODE TO SHOW MY DIGITAL DASH DISPLAY'S INTERNAL READINGS, NO DTC'S WERE PRESENT THERE EITHER. WE FINISHED OUR BUSINESS AND DROVE THE 20 MILES HOME WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS, ALL NORMAL. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND IS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION.
WHEN I TRIED TO PULL OUT MY CAR FROM THE PARKING LOT, THE POWER STEERING WAS LOST - I STARTED THE ENGINE, RELEASED THE BREAK, WAS ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO TURN AROUND, THE STEER WAS STUCK, I CAN ONLY MAKE LITTLE TURN BUT THEN IT'S TOO HEAVY TO CONTINUE THE TURN. THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES WITHIN ONE MONTH, BUT THERE WAS NO ERROR MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD. WHEN IT HAPPENED, STOPPING THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING, ONCE OR MANY TIMES, FIXED THE ISSUE. TOOK TO A DEALER BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO READ ANY "CODE", AND THEY REFUSE TO TAKE FURTHER ACTION. THEY ASKED ME TO MONITOR THE CAR AND TAKE THE CAR TO THEM WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
