THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE CONSOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEATS AND THE SEATS. THINGS(FOR EXAMPLE PHONES, MAKE UP, ANYTHING THAT I CARRY) FALL INTO THE GAP ALL THE TIME. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I PUT MY HAND INSIDE THE GAP TO PICK UP WHATEVER FALLS, THE MECHANISM HAS VERY SHARP EDGES WITH OIL THAT CUT YOUR SKIN. I HAVE CUT MY HANDS MANY TIMES WITH THOSE SHARP EDGES.WE HAVE TRIED OUR BEST TO BE CAREFUL BUT STILL GETTING CUT. THE CUTS ARE VERY PAINFUL AND ANNOYING. SINCE THE BEGINNING, I EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS TO THE FORD DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THAT OTHER PEOPLE COVER THE GAPS WITH TOWELS.THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I NOTICED THAT THE 2014 MODELS DO NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM.THEY CORRECTED THE SAFETY ISSUE IN THE 2014 FUSION MODEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY AS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
TRAVELING HOME AT 35MPH, VEHICLE LURCHED AND LOST POWER - WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 15 MPH MAX SPEED THE 3 MILES HOME, BUT VEHICLE BARELY ACCELERATED AFTER SLOWING OR STOPPING. POWER TRAIN LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. AS VEHICLE DRIVEN INTO GARAGE, DASHBOARD LIGHTING WENT OFF SUDDENLY, BUT VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITH EFFORT INTO GARAGE. FOUR HOURS LATER AT 10PM, STARTED VEHICLE, NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. MORNING OF DECEMBER 10, CALLED DEALERSHIP. THEY ADVISED IF THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON THIS MORNING, THEN THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY TO WORK WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS LOW VOLTAGE ON THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING PROBLEM AND THEY ORDERED PARTS AND "FIXED" IT ON DECEMBER 18TH, BUT ON DECEMBER 24TH, I WAS ON INTERSTATE AT 55 MPH, VEHICLE ON CRUISE CONTROL. SPEED LIMIT INCREASED TO 60MPH, BEGAN ADJUSTING CRUISE CONTROL SPEED VIA THUMB BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. AFTER THREE THUMB "CLICKS" TO 58MPH, VEHICLE LURCHED AND LOST POWER AND BEGAN IMMEDIATELY DECELERATING. POWER TRAIN LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED TO RIGHT BERM AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. OVER THE NEXT 37 MINUTES, ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE EVERY 5-6 MINUTES. ON SIX DIFFERENT ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE REVVED AS ACCELERATOR APPLIED BUT THE ENGINE NEVER "CAUGHT" OR TURNED OVER, IT WOULD DIE AS SOON AS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL RELEASED. ON 7TH ATTEMPT, THE VEHICLE TURNED OVER, AND I WAS ABLE TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT EXIT. SINCE THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING NORMALLY, I RISKED IT AND TRIED TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME, KNOWING THAT A TOW AT 8PM ON CHRISTMAS EVE WOULD BE EXPENSIVE AND TIMELY. THE POWER TRAIN LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR THE 8 MILE TRIP HOME. THE NEXT DAY, VEHICLE OPERATED "NORMALLY" WITH NO POWER TRAIN LIGHT OR AIRBAG LIGHT. SECOND OCCURRENCE. *TR
WHEN BRAKING ON AN UNEVEN SURFACE THE ELECTRIC MOTOR SURGES AHEAD FOR AN INSTANT CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS VEHICLE IS IN THE DEALER'S SHOP FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. A LETTER TO FORD PROVED TO BE FUTILE; WITH NO FIX IDENTIFIED FOR THE SURGING ISSUE.
MILEAGE LISTED WAS ESTIMATE HAD CAR FOR 2 1/2 WEEKS DRIVING ON NJ TURNPIKE MESSAGE POWER STEERING FAULT PULLED IN TO REST STOP PER FORD, TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN ON MESSAGE WENT OFF BUT POWER STEERING LOCKED.UNABLE TO TURN WHEEL. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO FORD AGENCY-MALOUF NORTH BRUNSWICK NJ- THEY REPLACED POWER STEERING UNIT. MEDFORD FORD AND MALOUF FORD SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE WHY ISN'T THIS CAR PART OF RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION HYBRID, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE OVER HEAD PASSENGER SIDE HANDLE BROKE AFTER USING IT FOR SUPPORT TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE HANDLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,626 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS SINCE PURCHASING A 2013 FORD FUSION WITH 235/40 19 CONTINENTAL TIRES (CONTIPROCONTACT) I HAVE HAD 3 SIDEWALL BLOWOUTS WHILE TRAVELING AT LESS THAT 20 MPH ON PAVED ROADWAYS. THIS TIRE CHOICE FOR THIS CAR MIGHT NOT BE SUITABLE SINCE IT HAS A RELATIVELY SMALL (40) ASPECT RATIO. *TR
VEHICLE DRIVER WAS DRIVING ON A PUBLIC ROAD APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN A THUD WAS HEARD AND THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WENT DOWN SIMILAR TO HAVING A FLAT TIRE. THE DRIVER STOPPED THE VEHICLE AS THE STEERING AND BRAKING WAS ADVERSELY AFFECTED. AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND SEEING WHAT HAPPENED THE DRIVER SAW THAT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS OUT OF ITS NORMAL CONFIGURATION WITH THE WHEEL AT APPROXIMATELY A 45 DEGREE ANGLE WITH THE TOP OF THE WHEEL POINTING INWARD TOWARD THE ENGINE AND THE BOTTOM OF THE WHEEL POINT OUTWARD TOWARD THE RIGHT. AFTER A TOW VEHICLE WAS CALLED AND PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT ALUMINUM LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE STRAIGHT ACROSS WHERE THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS PRESSED INTO THE CONTROL ARM. THIS CAUSED RELEASE OF THE LOWER AXIS CONNECTION OF THE WHEEL SPINDLE AND BROKE THE RIGHT FRONT DRIVESHAFT , TIE ROD, AND BENT THE STRUT. THIS IS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WITH POTENTIAL TO CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO THE DRIVER AND ANY OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS. FORD IS TRYING TO DISCLAIM AND PLAY DOWN THIS FAILURE SAYING THAT IS NOT THE FAULT OF THEIR DEFECTIVE LOWER CONTROL ARM. I FEEL ALL VEHICLES OF THIS KIND HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO FAIL IN THE SAME WAY AND SHOULD BE IMMEDIATELY INSPECTED FOR SIGNS OF CRACKING ON THE LOWER CONTROL ARM. *TR
ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. BROUGHT CAR TO FORD. DIAGNOSTIC TESTING SHOWED PROBLEM TO BE W/ THE FUEL SYSTEM. SINCE FIRST NOTED BACK IN OCTOBER 2013, LIGHT WOULD COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES AND ASSOCIATED W/ FUELING THE CAR W/ GAS. WENT ON FORD'S WEB FORUM SITE AND HAVE SEEN OTHER 2013 FUSION OWNERS W/ THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD STATED THEY WOULD CHANGE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM IF THE LIGHT WERE TO COME ON AGAIN. WE WILL BRING BACK THE CAR TO FORD NEXT WEEK FOR SERVICE TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT TWO BLOCKS FROM A PARKING LOT AND WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. AFTER THE LIGHT CHANGED, I STARTED ACROSS THE INTERSECTION AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS (INCLUDING MOTOR DRIVE) SHUTDOWN HALFWAY ACROSS. MY IPOD 4S WAS CONNECTED TO THE MYFORD TOUCH SYSTEM VIA USB CABLE, AND IT SHOWED THE APPLE LOGO, SUGGESTING THAT IT HAD BEEN ISSUED A REBOOT COMMAND. HAD TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION TO CONTINUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 1.6 LITER FORD FUSION ON 10/23/2013 AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. MY VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I LOOKED UP MY VIN NUMBER ON FORD BECAUSE AFTER THIS ALL HAPPENED I HEARD ABOUT FUSIONS BEING RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO FORD MY VIN NUMBER MY WAS NOT UNDER THE RECALLED FORD FUSIONS THAT HAD THE OVERHEATING PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE AND HAD CAUSED IT TO OVERHEAT. THIS SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE RECALL TO ME. I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE RECALL UNTIL AFTER THIS HAPPEN TO ME SO I DIDN'T GET OUT OF MY CAR. MY CAR COULD OF HAD AN ENGINE FIRE LIKE SOME OF THE RECALLED ONES HAVE HAD. I AM VERY UPSET WITH FORD. I BELIEVE THAT THEY STILL HAVE A PROBLEM AND MORE FUSIONS NEED TO BE RECALLED. IT IS SAD THAT FORD IS SELLING THESE CARS TO PEOPLE AND THEY COULD STILL BE UNSAFE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND IT STOPPED RUNNING. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE RETURNING FROM AN APPOINTMENT AT THE HEART DOCTOR AND HE HAD TO PUSH THE CAR OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY KEPT IT FOR TWO DAYS. THREE DAYS AFTER I GOT IT BACK IT DID THE SAME THING WHEN I WAS BY MYSELF. TOOK BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY KEPT IT FOR FOUR DAYS AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. I HAD IT BACK FOR ANOTHER TWO DAYS AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE DEALER HAS IT NOW AND I HAVE NO FAITH THAT IT WILL BE FIXED RIGHT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL DRIVING MY NEW CAR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT STARTED TO RAIN HEAVILY. THE WIPERS AT HIGH SPEED WERE NOT CLEARING THE RAIN EFFECTIVELY AND IT WAS HARD TO SEE ANYTHING ON THE ROAD. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH A CAR MERGING FROM A RAMP ON THE HIGHWAY AND I COULDN'T TELL THAT THERE WAS ONE CAR COMING IN SINCE I COULDN'T SEE A THING. I HAVE HAD A 1999 CENTURY BUICK BEFORE THIS AND NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM. AND IT HAS SEEN WAY HEAVIER RAINS THAN THIS ONE. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WIPERS. THIS CAR HAS A VERY INEFFECTIVE WIPER SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT CLEAR THE RAIN AND INFACT IS HAZARDOUS IN POURING RAIN. *TR
2013 FORD FUSION HYBRID. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DASHBOARD LIGHT ISSUES THAT CAUSES VEHICLE NOT TO START. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TWICE, FOR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THERE WERE NO OTHER COMPLAINTS, REGARDING THE ISSUE.
WHEN YOU PUT ON THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE ALWAYS TURNS HARD TO THE LEFT. THIS HAS DONE IT SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CAR. THOUGHT IT HAD TO DO WITH LOW PROFILE TIRES. TIRES ARE ROTATED AND BALANCE AS INDICATED BY MANUFACTURER. THE CAR IS ALSO ALIGNED AND DRIVES STRAIGHT FORWARD. *TR
WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY CAR, I CAME TO A RED LIGHT AND A YELLOW WARNING MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT." IT'S A BRAND NEW CAR WITH 2,800 MILES, SERIOUSLY? IT ALSO HAPPENED AGAIN TWO WEEKS LATER WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I HADN'T NOTICED ANY STEERING PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALER RIGHT AWAY WHERE I GOT IT FROM. AS ALWAYS THEY SAID I WOULD NEED TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR THE DAY, AND THAT "THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT." WHEN THE SERVICE WORKER LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM I WAS EXPERIENCING ON THEIR PROGRAM, NOTHING WAS REPORTED LIKE MINE SO THEY COULDN'T REALLY DO MUCH. I HAD TO RESEARCH THE PROBLEM MYSELF ONLINE BECAUSE THEY ALWAYS TEND TO THINK YOU'RE MAKING THESE PROBLEMS UP. THAT'S WHEN I STUMBLED UPON A COUPLE DIFFERENT FORUMS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. ONE PERSON DID SAY THEY'RE WHOLE POWER STEERING RACK HAD TO BE REPLACED. I BROUGHT THAT INFORMATION TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND I'M WAITING FOR A RESPONSE OF WHAT AND IF THEY'RE GOING TO DO NEXT. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO AN APPOINTMENT, AND RAN LATE BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE. I STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT, AND TRIED TO TAKE OFF, BUT THEN THE CAR WENT INTO "LIMP HOME" MODE. I HOBBLED THE CAR ACROSS THE INTERSECTION, AND THEN BEGAN TO USE MY OBD II CODE READER THAT I PURCHASED FOR A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, AND READ THE CODE. IT WAS P2011, AND CLEARED IT THE CAR RAN FINE FOR A WHILE, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. I WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, PURCHASED THE NEW "UPDATED" THROTTLE BODY. I GOT IT OVER TO MY UNCLE'S SHOP, WERE I REPLACED THE OLD THROTTLE BODY WITH THE NEW ONE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH THE NEW THROTTLE BODY, AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE. *TR
1. LANE KEEPING DEPARTURE SYSTEM PRESENTS A DANGER TO CYCLISTS & PEDESTRIANS. NOW THAT I AM AWARE, I TURN THE SYSTEM OFF; HOWEVER, THE STEERING WHEEL PUTS UP A GOOD FIGHT WHEN I TRIED TO PROVIDE THE CYCLISTS ROOM--AN UNNECESSARY ISSUE THAT COULD OF CAUSED SERIOUS BODILY HARM OR DEATH. 2. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GET THE MPG AS PROMISED ON THE STICKER: A GREAT DEAL OF UNNECESSARY MONEY WAS LOST. 3. THE ELECTRICAL A/C UNIT NO LONGER GENERATES COLD AIR, BUT THE FAN STILL RUNS.
MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A STREET. BALL JOINT SNAPPED LOOSE CAUSING CAR TO BOTTOM OUT. TOWED CAR TO DEALER AND THEY WANT TO MAKE AN EXCUSE SAYING THIS IS AN ACCIDENT AND WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER. NO ACCIDENT. JUST FAULTY PARTS. IT'S A SHAME. PROVIDED PICTURES TO PROVE NOT ACCIDENT..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE FAILURE WAS SPORADICALLY RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,700. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,999.
WHILE CRUISING AT ABOUT 45MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY DECELERATED, THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WHILE IDLING, THE ENGINE WAS SHAKING ABNORMALLY. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED, ONCE AT 40MPH CRUISING, AND ONCE AT ABOUT 65MPH ACCELERATING. ALL THREE INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED ABOUT 200 MILES APART. ALL THREE TIMES I WAS (BARELY) ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. EACH TIME THE CAR TOOK LONGER THAN USUAL TO TURN OVER. PREVIOUS TO THIS, THERE WERE SEVERAL INCIDENTS WHEN DOWNSHIFTING FROM OVERDRIVE INTO A PASSING GEAR. WHEN THE CAR SHIFTED DOWN, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD THUMP AND SHIFT ABNORMALLY HARD. THE ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD THEN COME ON. I COULD STILL ACCELERATE BUT I WOULD HAVE THE SAME "HARD" SHIFT EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED FAST ENOUGH TO FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO SWITCH INTO A PASSING GEAR. WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP, THE CAR WOULD SURGE FORWARD EACH TIME IT DOWN SHIFTED. AFTER A RESTART THE PROBLEM WAS TEMPORARILY REMEDIED, UNTIL I TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHILE IN OVERDRIVE AGAIN. *TR
ON FLAT OR INCLINED SURFACE IF YOU ARE STEADILY GOING THEN GIVE IT A GOOD AMOUNT OF ACCELERATION THE CAR WILL JOLT AND SHIFT SUPER HARD. HARD ENOUGH TO NEARLY JERK THE STEERING WHEEL OFF TO THE RIGHT.
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE 12 VOLT BATTERY HAS DIED WHILE THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 24 HOURS OR MORE. THE FUSION ENERGI TITANIUM WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 10 DAYS AND THE DEALER FINALLY REPLACED THE BATTERY AFTER RUNNING EXTENSIVE TESTS. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, THE CAR IS TOTALLY DISABLED AND HAS TO BE JUMPED. THIS ISSUE TENDS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS VERY HOT OUTSIDE OR THE CAR IS SITTING IN THE SUN. THE HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY FANS WILL RUN WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND WHEN YOU POWER OFF THE CAR. *TR
ON AUGUST 02, 2013, MY 2010 FORD FUSION 3.0 WHILE DRIVING ON DC METRO AREA 495 HIGHWAY I NOTICED THAT EVEN I HAVE PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STALLED ALMOST HAVING A MAYOR ACCIDENT. I TURNED OFF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENS AND DECIDED TO TURNED ON AGAIN AND WORKING LIKE NOTHING HAPPENS FOR AT LEASE TWO WEEKS WHEN HAPPENS AGAIN. I CHECK WITH THE FORD TO SEE IF THERE ARE HAVING A RECALLS ON THAT AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT RECEIVE TO MANY COMPLAINS ON THAT TO CREATE A MAYOR RECALLS ON THAT BUT LOOKIN ONLINE I SAW ALOT OF COMPLAINS. THAT MAKE ME BELIEVE THAT FORD MOTORS COMPANY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS AND BECAUSE OF THE COST OF REPAIR AND PARTS AND THE AMOUNTS OF VEHICLE INVOLVE ON THE PROBLEMS THEY DO NOT WANTED TO FIXED. *TR
The contact's daughter owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V632000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

WHILE DRIVING IN MODERATE AFTERNOON TRAFFIC, WITHOUT WARNING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. A WARNING CHIME SOUNDED AND A "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER; THE VEHICLE EFFECTIVELY STALLED. AFTER PULLING ONTO THE SHOULDER, THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE TRIP CONTINUED WITHOUT INCIDENT. SINCE THEN THE VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY STALLED, WITHOUT WARNING SIX ADDITIONAL TIMES IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESTART AFTER THE LAST STALL AND HAD TO BE TOWED IN FOR SERVICE. IT HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIRS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE ON THREE OCCASIONS OVER THE COURSE OF 4 MONTHS FOR A TOTAL OF 29 DAYS. ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE IN FOR SERVICE, THE DEALER INFORMED THE OWNER THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED WHILE BEING ROAD TESTED AND HAD TO BE TOWED BACK. THE DEALER HAS UPDATED VARIOUS SOFTWARE MODULES AND REPLACED A GATEWAY MODULE, HIGH VOLTAGE CABLE AND BATTERY CONTROLLER. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY LESS THAN 11 MONTHS OLD WITH 6850 MILES. BY 3772 MILES, THE CAR BEGAN TO DOWNSHIFT VIOLENTLY, UPSHIFT AROUND 6 OR 7 THOUSAND RPMS, NOT SHIFT AT ALL, THE HEATED SEAT WOULD COME ON BY THEMSELVES WITH NO INDICATOR LIGHTS, THE TRANSMISSION GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND NO KEY INSIDE, THE RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF AT WILL WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND LOCKED UP, A SEVERE ODOR OF MILDEW COMES FROM THE A/C WHEN FIRST COMES ON, THE TRIM MOLDING KEEPS COMING OFF, THE CAR HAS LOST A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF POWER, THE LED LIGHTS IN THE TAIL LIGHTS STAY ON ALL NIGHT EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, AND ETC. WE REALLY LIKE OUR 2013 FORD FUSION - EXCEPT FOR ONE MAJOR SNAFU - VISIBILITY WHEN MAKING A TURN. THE ATTACHED PHOTO, MADE FROM THE POSITION OF THE DRIVER'S EYES, SHOWS THE PROBLEM. ONE MUST MOVE THEIR HEAD FORWARD AND BACKWARD TO VIEW BEYOND THE LARGE BLOCKED-OUT AREA BEHIND THE PILLAR TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO PEOPLE OR OBSTRUCTIONS TO THE DRIVER'S INTENDED PATH. IN THE ATTACHED PHOTO OVER 50% OF THE CROSSWALK IS NOT VISIBLE. THERE IS ALSO A PROBLEM WHEN PULLING UP TO A INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, AND LOOKING TO THE RIGHT FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. A LARGE PORTION OF THE ROADWAY VIEW IS BLOCKED. VERY ANNOYING AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. TOO LATE NOW FOR MODIFICATION BUT CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE FOR FUTURE MODELS. "CHECK FUEL FILL PORT" LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. I HIT "OK" AND THEN IT GOES OFF. HOWEVER, THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH IT, SO I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER. THEY SIMPLY RESET THE CODE, AND TOLD ME THAT GAS PUMP NOZZLES "ARE SOMETIMES DIRTY" AND CAN TRIP THE SENSOR. ONE WEEK LATER, THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND I WILL TAKE IT INTO THE SHOP THIS WEEK. WORRY THERE COULD BE A GAS LEAK, AS AFTER I FILL THE TANK COMPLETELY, THE GAUGE SINKS TO 3/4 OF A TANK IN ABOUT 5 MILES. *TR

THE LATER TWO ACTIONS ARE NOT TERRIBLY CLEAR TO ME B MY WIFE STARTED TO SHOUT FOR ME TO WATCHOUT. C I STARTED TO PRESS ON BRAKES. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY, AND ODOMETER WAS AT 3400 MILES ;VEHICLE HAD NO POWER WHILE CLIMBING. DURING THE CLIMB, VEHICLE COULD NOT MAINTAIN 35 MPH. AFTER GETTING TO TOP OF HILL, VEHICLE DROVE FINE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. EVERY CLIMB AFTER THAT POINT, VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE, AND ENGINE RPM'S WOULD REV TO MAXIMUM. TOOK VEHICLE TO 3 DEALERSHIPS, AND NEVER TEST DROVE OR DIAGNOSED. THE RESPONSE FROM EACH DEALERSHIP WAS THIS WAS NORMAL FOR A HYBRID. AT 18000 MILES HEARD A LOUD WHINING NOISE. TOOK VEHICLE TO A 4TH DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DISCOVERED THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, AND BOTH CV AXLES WERE DAMAGED AROUND THE BOOT. DEALERSHIP COVERED THE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY, BUT FORCED ME TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CV AXLES, CLAIMING THE BOOTS TORE FROM ROAD DEBRIS. SINCE THEN I HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AND THEY STATED THAT DEBRIS COULD NOT HAVE TORE THE INNER BOOT OF THE CV AXLE WITH THE LARGE FAIRING UNDER THE CAR. UNLESS THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FAIRING. I CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY, AND THEY REFERRED ME TO A MANAGER WHO CLAIMS TO BE A METALLURGIST, AND SAID THE FAILURE WAS MY FAULT WITHOUT INSPECTING THE VEHICLE OR AXLES. WHEN I CONTACTED THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS VEHICLE BEING IN THE SERVICE DEPT 15 TIMES IN LESS THAN 20,000 MILES, ALL I RECEIVED WAS A SORRY. *TR

TURNED CAR OFF, RESTARTED ENGINE AND POWER STEERING WORKED. HAVE LOST POWER STEERING ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WITHOUT USING THE SYNC OPTION. OK, I TRADED IN MY 2009 FUSION 6 CYL FOR THE 2013 1.8 ECCO BOOST. OBVIOUSLY WHEN I TEST DROVE IT I DROVE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. AT ANY RATE, WHEN YOU NEED TO PASS AND STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR HESITATES AND SEEMS TO HAVE NO POWER AT ALL. THE GAS MILIAGE IS AROUND 22 MILE PER GALLON HIGHWAY.
