AFTER LEAVING WORK AND DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES, THE CAR EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE. IT WAS SUNNY OUTSIDE AND WARM. THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM WAS NOT IN USE. WHILE DRIVING IN EV MODE, THE CAR DROPPED ITS SPEED FROM 25 MPG TO 2MPH. I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND HAD TO DRIVE 2 BLOCKS UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER. THE CAR DISPLAY FLASHED ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. THE CAR DISPLAY AND ALL INTERIOR LIGHTED WENT DARK. THE CAR DID NOT SWITCH TO THE GAS ENGINE AND THE GAS ENGINE DID NOT TURN ON. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER FOUND 50 ERROR CODES ON THE CAR. A FEW DAYS AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER, I WAS DRIVING IN EV MODE IN A PARKING LOT. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR BUCKED AND SWITCHED INTO GAS ENGINE MODE. THE DISPLAY LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TURNED YELLOW AND THE CAR TOOK ITSELF OUT OF EV MODE. *JS
I AM WRITING TO YOU BECAUSE I HAVE BECOME VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE FORD FUSION HYBRID (VIN): [XXX] PURCHASED FROM JIM HUDSON FORD LOCATED IN LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA ON FEBRUARY 19, 2013. MY REASONING FOR PURCHASING THE FUSION HYBRID WAS BECAUSE OF IT AVAILABLE SAFETY FEATURES AND GAS MILEAGE I EXPECTED TO RECEIVED THEN ADVERTISED AS 40 MPH. IN SO MANY WAYS I HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH THE SAFETY FEATURES PROVIDED ON THE FUSION, ESPECIALLY THE FORWARD SENSING, FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, CROSS LANE ALERT, VOICE ACTIVATED TELEPHONE, RADIO AND NAVIGATION SYSTEM. THE CAR HANDLES WELL AND MOST IMPORTANT BOTH MY SPOUSE AND I ARE COMFORTABLE WITH ITS HANDLING. NOW MY DILEMMA! THUS FAR THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST TEN RECALLS PERTAINING TO THE FORD FUSION, NOT ALL APPLIES TO MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE, HOWEVER THERE HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO GIVE ME CONCERN ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON ANY EXTENDED TRIP. I HAVE EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS TO THE REPRESENTATIVE AT JIM HUDSON FORD WHERE I TAKE MY CAR FOR SERVICE BUT BEING TOLD IF SOMETHING HAPPEN WHILE YOU ARE ON A TRIP ANY FORD DEALER WOULD ASSIST WAS NO RELIEF. BOTH MY WIFE AND I ARE IN OUR MID-SEVENTIES, HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES AND RELIABILITY, SAFETY AND A PEACE OF MIND ARE IMPORTANT! I NEED A CAR I CAN DEPEND ON NOT JUST ONE WITH SOME GREAT SAFETY FEATURES THAT HAVE BEEN NULLIFIED DUE TO PENDING RECALLS. I FEEL THIS CAR NO LONGER REPRESENT TO ME THE CAR I ASSUMED I WAS PURCHASING AND EVEN-THOUGH IT MAY STILL BE SAFE TO DRIVE I NO LONGER HAVE THE CONFIDENCE, NOR DO I ANY LONGER FEEL COMFORTABLE WHEN BEHIND THE WHEEL. WHILE TRAVELING NORTH ON CA-2 NEAR SAN FERNANDO ROAD, THE STEERING STARTED TO FEEL WOBBLY. ABOUT 2 SECONDS LATER, THE COMPUTER SCREEN IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAYED AN ALERT SAYING TO SERVICE THE STEERING SOON; ABOUT 2 SECONDS AFTER THAT, IT SAID "STEERING LOSS - STOP SAFELY" ALONG WITH AN AUDIBLE WARNING SOUND. THE CURVATURE OF THE ROAD WAS SUCH THAT GOING STRAIGHT AHEAD PUT THE CAR ON THE ROAD SHOULDER WITH ENOUGH TIME TO STOP, SO I CANNOT SAY WHETHER THE STEERING WOULD HAVE WORKED IF I HAD APPLIED EXTREMELY HIGH FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. HOWEVER, AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL'S MOVEMENT HAD NO EFFECT ON THE WHEELS, AND THE MECHANIC AT THE FORD DEALER (TO WHICH THE CAR WAS TOWED) SAID THAT THEY WERE ENTIRELY UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR. ALTHOUGH I WAS ABLE TO STOP SAFELY, I AND OTHER PEOPLE COULD EASILY HAVE DIED IF I HAD BEEN ON A WINDING ROAD, HAD NEEDED TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY MANEUVER, OR IF THE DRIVERS NEXT TO US ON THE FREEWAY HAD NOT NOTICED THE HAZARD FLASHERS AND MOVED OUT OF THE WAY. ADVANTAGE FORD LINCOLN IN DUARTE REPAIRED THE STEERING BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM, AND WE SUBSEQUENTLY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SELLING DEALER FOR A REFUND. THE REPAIRING DEALER ASSURED US THAT THE FAULTY PART WAS BEING SENT TO FORD FOR ANALYSIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND LOST POWER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS, GAUGES, AND METERS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED TO FUNCTION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS WERE ACTIVATED BUT WERE DIM. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY WAS DIMINISHED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH, TRANSMISSION, AND THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
I HAVE A 2013 TITANIUM AND ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL IT HAS A 16.5 GAL TANK. THE DISTANCE TO EMPTY DISPLAY STATED 3 MILES TO EMPTY SO I REFUELED. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET IN 12.779 GAL INTO THE TANK WHEN IT CLICKED OFF. AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE IS ALWAYS BELOW THE FULL LINE. SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS HAVE POSTED THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE HAD THEIR FUEL TANKS REPLACED OF WHICH CORRECTED THIS ISSUE. *TR
ON MULTIPLE, RANDOM OCCASIONS, THE LEFT AND RIGHT TURN SIGNALS HAVE MALFUNCTIONED, I.E., THEY EITHER DO NOT STAY ON LONGER THAN ONE FLASH CYCLE, OR THEY SHUT OFF PREMATURELY. THE FUNCTION IS NOT BEING CONFUSED WITH THE 3 FLASH LANE CHANGE FEATURE ? THIS FEATURE WORKS 100% OF THE TIME. PREMATURE SHUTTING OFF OF THE TURN SIGNAL TYPICALLY (BUT NOT ALWAYS) OCCURS WHEN MAKING A TURN FROM A FULL STOP. WHEN THE SIGNAL IS ACTUATED, IT FLASHES FOR 10 ? 30 SECONDS WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT (WHEELS ARE POSITIONED STRAIGHT AHEAD). WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT CHANGES AND I JUST BEGIN TO TURN THE WHEEL, THE SIGNAL SHUTS OFF. THE IMMEDIATE SHUT OFF ISSUE DOES NOT HAPPEN AS FREQUENTLY AS THE PREMATURE ISSUE, BUT WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN, I CANNOT GET THE TURN SIGNAL TO FUNCTION FOR MORE THAN ONE FLASH AT A TIME. BOTH DESCRIBED ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 3 MONTHS OLD. THIS ISSUE WILL BE REPORTED FOR THE FIRST TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES IN FOR ITS NEXT SERVICE. *TR
TRAVELING SOUTH AT ABOUT 8:30PM ON A DARK RAINY NIGHT MY WIFE COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD ADEQUATELY AND STRUCK A LANE DIVIDER BLOWING OUT BOTH FRONT AND REAR LEFT SIDE TIRES, DAMAGING THE FRONT RIM. LUCKILY SHE WAS NOT INJURED AS THERE WAS LIGHT TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. AAA HAD TO HAUL THE VEHICLE HOME ON A FLATBED TOW TRUCK. DAMAGE INCLUDING TWO TIRES AND A WHEEL EXCEEDED $1000. THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS ON THIS CAR ARE INADEQUATE AND NEED TO BE IMPROVED. I DON'T SEE HOW THE LIGHTS PASSED NTSB ILLUMINATION STANDARDS. THE LIGHTS ON MY 1928 MODEL A WERE BETTER. I NOW DRIVE IN THE CITY WITH BOTH THE FOG LIGHTS AND LOW BEAMS TURNED ON TO GET ADEQUATE ILLUMINATION. THE LIGHTS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND IMPROVED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, I NOTED THAT THE POWER ASSIST WAS VARIABLE. IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN, THE STEERING SUDDENLY BECAME DIFFICULT. AND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. AT OTHER TIMES DURING TURNING, THE POWER STEERING WOULD BECOME EXTREMELY EASY, AND THEN RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT OCCURRENCE AND HAS PERSISTED TO DATE. (MILEAGE IS NOW ABOUT 3000 MILES) THIS STIFFENING UP AND RELEASING COULD RESULT IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. A TEST DRIVE (3-5 MILES) BY A SERVICE REP DID NOT PRODUCE THIS OCCURRENCE. *TR
LIKE MANY OTHER 2013 FUSION OWNERS, I ALSO HAVE AN ISSUE WHEN REFUELING. THE BEST EXAMPLE THUS FAR WAS PURPOSELY RUNNING DOWN TO THREE MILES TO EMPTY BEFORE REFUELING. I WAS ABLE TO PUMP ONLY 12.861 GALLONS INTO THE 16.5 GALLON TANK - THIS INCLUDED THREE TOP-OFF CLICKS OF THE PUMP. I HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THIS ISSUE OUT. THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME HE CONTACTED FORD ENGINEERING REGARDING THE CONCERN. FORD REPLIED THAT THEY KNEW THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND WERE WORKING ON A SOLUTION AT THAT TIME. I HAVE READ THAT OTHERS WERE TOLD BY DEALERSHIPS THAT THE TANK DOES FILL, BUT THAT FORD SET THE FUEL GAUGE TO ALLOW FOR A RESERVE AFTER ZERO MILES TO EMPTY. IF THIS IS TRUE, THERE IS A 22% RESERVE ALLOWANCE IN MY CASE NOTED ABOVE. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CONSUMER MUST KNOW, WITH REASONABLE ACCURACY, THE FUEL LEVEL OF THEIR VEHICLE SO THEY DO NOT RUN OUT OF FUEL ON BUSY OR REMOTE ROADS FORD NEEDS TO RESPOND TO DEALERS/CUSTOMERS TO EXPLAIN THE ISSUE, AND WHAT IS GOING TO BE DONE TO RESOLVE IT. *TR
MY 2013 FUSION S SHOULD HAVE A 16.5 GAL TANK, BUT WHEN I GOT THE LOW FUEL LEVEL LIGHT ON TODAY, I CAN ONLY PUT 12.5 GAL INTO THE TANK BEFORE THE FIRST KICK-OFF. THE TANK CAN NOT BY FULLY FILLED! *TR
SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY OF MY VEHICLE, I HAVE OCCASIONALLY RECEIVED WARNINGS REGARDING A FAILURE OF THE TRACTION CONTROL AND HILL ASSIST SYSTEMS WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP A COUPLE OF TIMES, WITH "NO ISSUES FOUND" REPORTED BY THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION TO MY STARTING PROCEDURES, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPEAT THE WARNINGS WHILE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING SPECIFIC STARTING PROCEDURE... 1) REMOTELY START THE VEHICLE (FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE STARTER), 2) INSERT THE KEY AND TURN TO THE FIRST POSITION, 3) KEEP KEY IN THIS POSITION FOR 1-2 SECONDS, 4) TURN THE KEY TO THE RUN POSITION. THESE STEPS WILL CAUSE THE WARNINGS EVERY TIME. BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING, THE WARNINGS ARE GONE, AND THERE ARE NO HISTORY OF THE WARNINGS IN THE VEHICLE COMPUTER. I HAVE SHOWN THIS STARTING PROCEDURE TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE COMPLAINED DIRECTLY TO FORD WITH NO REPLY. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE UNSURE IF THERE IS A VALID ISSUE OR NOT. *TR
THE FRONT BODY PANELS AROUND THE HEADLIGHTS ARE LOOSE AND YOU CAN HEAR SOME KIND OF A RATTLE AROUND THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WHEN YOU GET OVER 55 MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS FROM OTHER DRIVERS WOULD APPEAR THROUGH THE REAR-VIEW WINDSHIELD, THE LIGHTS WOULD APPEAR DISTORTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5. *TR
THE FORD FUSION FUEL TANK IN MY 2.0 ECOBOOST ENGINE DOES NOT FILL ALL THE WAY. IT IS DOCUMENTED AS A 16.5 GALLON TANK, HOWEVER EVEN RUNNING TO EMPTY I AM ONLY ABLE TO FILL 12-13 GALLONS. TO ME, IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE A 3-4 GALLON "RESERVE". I AM NOT SURE IF IT'S THE TANK ITSELF, OR IF IT'S FAULTY HARDWARE CAUSING VAPOR TO BE TRAPPED AND THE SYSTEM THINKING IT'S FULL WHEN IT IS IN FACT NOT. THIS MAY NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT IS AN ISSUE IF YOU ARE THINKING YOU HAVE MORE GAS THAN YOU ACTUALLY DO. *TR
SEAT HEADRESTS SIT TOO FAR FORWARD CAUSING BACK AND NECK PAIN. CANNOT ADJUST TO A COMFORTABLE DRIVING POSITION. *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, THE PUMP "KICKED OFF" PRIOR TO A FULL TANK AS DISPLAYED BY DIGITAL FUEL GAUGE (JUST UNDER FULL). I DROVE 25 MILES AND FUEL GAUGE THEN SHOWED BETWEEN FULL AND 3/4 TANK. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INACCURACY WITH THE CALIBRATION OF THE GAUGE AND/OR AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT CAN BE PUT INTO TANK, WITH RESPECT TO TANK CAPACITY, BEFORE PUMP "KICK OFF". *TR
PLEASE NOTE, THIS FORM WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SELECT WIPERS AS THE AFFECTED PART. THE ONLY OPTION THAT APPEARED WAS WHEELS. PLEASE CORRECT IF POSSIBLE. WHILE DRIVING, SNOW THAT HAD ACCUMULATED ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR SLID ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE MOTION OF THE WIPERS PUSHED THE SNOW DOWN AND TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE SNOW PROHIBITED THE WIPERS TO MOVE IN EITHER DIRECTION CAUSING ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE ROAD. THE DESIGN OF THE WIPERS APPEARS TO ALLOW EXCESS SNOW TO BE FORCED IN THE LOWER MIDDLE PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING THE WIPERS TO NOT BE ABLE TO REVERSE DIRECTION IF WHEN THE CONTROL LEVER IS TOGGLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORCE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,264. UPDATED 11/20/14*LJ UPDATED 8/17/2015*JS
APPROXIMATELY AFTER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND THE ELECTRIC MOTOR GOT STUCK AT ABOUT HALF ITS POWER (ACCORDING TO THE DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD). THE FRONT AIR BAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT WAS ON (THIS HAD HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE DURING THE PAST TWO WEEKS), THE "HILL ASSIST OFF" LIGHT TURNED ON, AND A LARGE WARNING MESSAGE CAME UP ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE HAD VERY LITTLE POWER, I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PULLED OVER IN A PARKING LOT. PARKED AND TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, WAITED A MINUTE AND STARTED THE VEHICLE. IT WORKED NORMAL FOR THE REST OF THE DRIVE (5 MORE MILES). THE NEXT MORNING, THE FRONT AIR BAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME UP AGAIN AFTER 4 OR 5 MILES OF DRIVE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. *TR
I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE HEADLAMPS ON MY VEHICLE SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED IT. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER ON 2 OCCASIONS COMPLAINING THAT THE HEADLAMPS ARE TOO DIM. I AVOID DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT NIGHT BECAUSE I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AVOID A ROAD HAZARD, THEY ARE THAT DIM. I HAVE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT TO FEEL SAFE. I ALSO HAVE A 2013 HONDA ACCORD THAT MY WIFE DRIVES, AND THE LOW BEAMS ON THE HONDA LIGHT UP THE ROAD LIKE A RUNWAY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE HEADLAMPS ON THE 1.6L ECO BOOST, BUT THEY TELL ME IT DOESN'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I HAVE A 2.5L. I HAVE COMPARED VEHICLES AND I SEE NO DIFFERENCE IN APPLICATION. IF THE ISSUE CANNOT BE RESOLVED THROUGH MY DEALER, I WILL HAVE TO SELL THE CAR, BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THANK YOU. *TR
AFTER BUYING CAR I WAS DRIVING OFF DEALERSHIP LOT,AND BRAKING FOR RUMBLE STRIPS I HEARD A POPPING NOISE FROM RIGHT REAR OF CAR.I HAD IT BACK 7 TIMES AND IT STILL NOT REPAIRED. I'M QUITE CONCERNED,AND THINK IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM.THE DEALER SHIP AND FORD TELL ME THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON IT.YET HERE IT IS 10 MONTHS ,AND IT STILL IS NOT FIXED.
AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP IT WAS ALL TOO APPARENT THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS, EVEN AFTER THE SAFETY HEADLIGHT RECALL (12C27/NHTSA 12V-553), OFFER INADEQUATE, SUB STANDARD, HAZARDOUS INFERIOR ILLUMINATION BOTH FORWARD AND TO BOTH SIDES! COMPARED TO OUR TOYOTA HIGHLANDER 2008 AND VOLVO S70 WAGON 2003 THE 2013 FUSION HYBRID LOW BEAM ILLUMINATION IS SHORT DISTANCED AND DIM, <50% OF EXPERIENCED IN THOSE VEHICLES! THAT PUTS THE DRIVER AT SERIOUS RISK! I CALLED FORD MOTOR'S 800 LINE A FEW WEEKS AGO. THEY COURTEOUSLY PUT ME THROUGH TO THE HEAD MECHANIC AT MUZI FORD. I SPOKE TO 2 HEAD FORD DEALER MECHANICS: MUZI FORD, NEEDHAM AND FRAMINGHAM FORD, FRAMINGHAM AND THEY CONFIRM THAT I HAVE NO HEADLIGHT OPTION. *TR
PURCHASED CAR ON NOV 2 2013 RETURNED TO DEALER 31 DAYS LATER DUE TO RECALL. HAVE REQUESTED BUY BACK FROM FORD. WHO WOULD PUT THERE GRANDCHILDREN AT RISK IN THIS CAR WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE? I FEEL THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN THE PROBLEM EXISTED BUT FAILED TO ADMIT IT UNTIL SOME CARS CAME BACK. JUST WANT FORD TO BUY CAR BACK AND WILL LOOK AT ANOTHER MODEL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS AT 35-40MPH, THE TRANSMISSION ERRATICALLY SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR ON THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING THE ENGINE RPMS TO NEAR INSTANTANEOUSLY TO GO FROM 1750-2000RPMS TO JUST OVER 4000RPMS. THROUGH THE RPM INCREASE THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED THE PREVIOUS 35-40MPH SPEED. ULTIMATELY, WAS FORCED TO BRAKE TO BRING THE ENGINE RPMS DOWN. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40MPH AND A MESSAGE FLASHED ON MY GAUGE STATING SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT ENGINE LOWER TEMP. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE CAR AND MESSAGE WENT AWAY. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR POSSIBLE FIRE DUE TO ENGINE OVERHEATING. I ASSUME THAT THIS MESSAGE IS THE PRE-CURSOR TO WHAT COULD BE A POSSIBLE FIRE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND I AM AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM FORD ON A POSSIBLE FIX. THE CAR WAS ONLY 1 WEEK OLD. I HAVE REQUESTED FORD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND GET INTO A NON-AFFECTED ENGINE TYPE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED AND WOULD PROVIDE ERRONEOUS FUEL LEVEL READINGS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD ONLY REGISTER FOURTEEN OF THE SIXTEEN GALLONS OF FUEL THAT WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED TO MAXIMUM CAPACITY, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD ONLY REGISTER THE TANK AS BEING HALF FULL. PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT (INDICATING OFF) CONSTANTLY IS ON WHEN MY WIFE 125 LBS IS RIDING IN THE SEAT. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE SENSORS BECAUSE IF THE LIGHT IS OFF ANY MOVEMENT BY HER WILL CAUSE THE LIGHT TO GO ON. HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY SERVICE CODES INDICATING A PROBLEM. OUR SUGGESTION TO THEM WAS TO FORGO THE CODES AND PUT A PERSON IN THE SEAT AND TAKE A RIDE. WE WILL BE GOING BACK TO THE DEALER VERY SOON AND THEY CAN KEEP THE CAR UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS IDENTIFIED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY 65-MPH THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING, THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL STARTS ACTING UP AS IF YOU ARE TURNING ON AND OFF THE KEY. THEY FOUND A LOSE WIRE TO THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER ON THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED THE INSTRUMENTAL CLUSTER. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN BACK SIX TIMES AND NOW THE DASHBOARD SHUTS DOWN AND I LOSE LIGHTS, SIGNALS, AND OTHER ELECTRONIC FEATURES. I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES IN BETWEEN. THEY OFFERED ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY??? IT IS A SHAME THAT A CONSUMER WHO BUYS A CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP HAS TO GO THROUGH THE GRINDER JUST TO GET OUT OF THEIR LEMON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH THE VEHICLE RODE OVER BUMP IN THE ROADWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO FAILED TO EFFECTIVELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COUNTRY FORD LOCATED 95 GOODMAN ROAD EAST SOUTHAVEN, MS 38671, (662)-349-4300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I'VE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY GAS TANK SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR SINCE OCT 2012. WHEN I FILL UP, THE CAR SOMETIMES FILLS ALL THE WAY ON THE GAUGE, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. IF IT DOES IT DROPS FROM FULL TO HALF A QUARTER BY 10-20 MILES. ALSO, IVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FILL UP TO AROUND 16 GALLONS. THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A 16.5 GALLON FUEL TANK. I RUN THE CAR TO APPROX 12 MILES LEFT, TILL THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND I CAN ONLY GET ROUGHLY 12 GALLONS IN THE TANK. EITHER THE TANK THAT WAS INSTALLED IS WRONG OR THE COMPUTER GAUGE IS OFF. I'M ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 315 ON A "FULL" TANK. THAT IS NOT RIGHT FOR A CAR THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A 27-37MPG CAR. WHICH I ONLY GET ABOUT 24-26MPG SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR. I DO A MIX OF HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING, MOSTLY HIGHWAY AVERAGING 45MPH DRIVING. I'VE TOLD BRIEN FORD IN EVERETT OF THIS ISSUE BUT THEY WONT LOOK AT IT SINCE IT HASN'T BEEN RECOGNIZED BY FORD. THE FUSION HYBRID SE HAS A 13.5 GALLON TANK, I THINK THE TANKS GOT INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, AND ME ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS GOT THE HYBRID TANK INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL 16.5 GALLON TANK. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOORS DID NOT ALWAYS LOCK USING THE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. WHILE DRIVING, COOLANT WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND ABOUT 5 MIN LATER CAR DIED. I OPENED HOOD AND THERE WAS STILL COOLANT IN CAR. TOOK TO DEALER. QUOTED $10,000 FOR NEW ENGINE. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF A RECALL RE COOLANT LEAKING INTO ENGINE AND IN SUBSEQUENT VISITS DEALER NEVER ADDRESSED THE RECALL AND NEVER FIXED PROBLEM.
THE INCIDENT I DESCRIBED WAS ACTUALLY FOR A 1994 ISUZU TROOPER. SHOWING LONG TERM EFFECTS OF BRAIN INJURY OR ORGANIC BRAIN DISORDER WITH MEMORY DISABILITY.
ISUZU TROOPER TOLD ME THAT AIRBAGS DO NOT DEPLOY IN ROLLOVER ACCIDENTS BECAUSE STUDIES SHOWED THERE ISN'T A HIGHER SURVIVAL RATE WHEN THEY DO DEPLOY IN ROLLOVERS. THAT MAY BE TRUE, BUT I AS A PHYSICIAN DO DECLARE THAT A SURVIVOR OF A ROLLOVER MAY HAVE BETTER SURVIVAL WHEN AIRBAGS DEPLOY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE WITH SURVIVAL AFTER SEVERE BRAIN INJURIES. I AM PERMANENTLY DISABLED NOW. I FIND IT UNCONSCIOUBLE THAT AIRBAGS DON'T DEPLOY IN ROLLOVERS. I MEAN WHY NOT? THE DATE OF MY ACCIDENT WOULDN'T ENTER PROPERLY BUT WAS 02/22/1995.
