At 87549 miles the right front hydraulic brake hose ruptured under braking causing near complete loss of braking ability for the vehicle. The mechanic who replaced the hose said it failed at the wheel side connector fitting causing near complete loss of brake fluid in the braking system. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the hose failure. I requested the hose be saved and it is in my possession. The vehicle was not inspected by any other party.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. Additionally, while at a stop sign, the parking brake seized. The parking assist warning light was illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V471000 (Power Train) and 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulics). After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V162000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); the VIN was included, and the front brake hoses were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
My 2014 Ford fusion completely lost power and wouldn't even start or turn on novemeber13, 2022. The car was towed to a dealership, and I was told that the coolant was going inside of the engine and causing corrasion. We contacted the warranty company and was told that this was a manufacture's default and that they wouldn't fix/ replace my engine because my whole engine needed to be replaced. I contacted ford and they said there was no recalls on my car and in 2017 I saw on cars.com that the engine/ coolant system for ford fusions from 2014-2017 were recalled but Ford said there was no such recall and that their recalls have an S in them and not a v.
Vehicle overheating issues, coolant leak, not able to drive the car
Awhile back before the part was recalled the shifter cable gasket slipped and the transmission was stuck in park in a drive through fast food restaurant line. Luckily I acted quick and resolved the issue by locating the gasket and dropping the ball into the shifter cable hole. On the highway I noticed white smoke and sputtering/jerking, I took the car straight to ford. Dropped it off and today learned there is coolant intrusion causing the engine to have to be replaced while other vehicles are hnder recall mine is not. This vehicle is a major safety concern.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH the message "electric power steering failure" was displayed, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the steering operated as normal but later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V25000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 99,000.
UNKNOWN. I just know something not right with my car. My brake lights will not turn off. There is something wrong with well i think there is something wrong with the transmission and steering. It just needs an all over inspection honestly. I need help, idk what else to do. I have to get back and forth to work! Help!!!
I took my 2014 ford fusion, per a recap letter, to my local dealership on 10/11/22. I was notified today, 10/14/22, that the part ordered was DENIED by ford due to a policy to prevent dealerships from “hoarding” parts. Apparently my dealership has ordered too many brake line parts. I was told that they would retry on 10/17/22 but couldn’t guarantee it would be approved. I’m the meantime I’m without a car as my brake line is leaking and if I have to drive it’s a risk. How can parts be DENIED for a RECALL?!?!? This policy puts drivers at extreme risk of injury or death while they wait for their cars to be fixed.
One of the rear seat belts will lock and not release. After you unlatch it, it doesn’t retract properly. I feel this is unsafe and should be fixed by the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the power steering assist fault, traction control, and Hill Assist warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the power steering assist failed to operate as needed. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic and was informed that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the engine mounts were corroded and needed to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V250000 (Steering). The dealer and manufacturer were contacted, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 121,000.
There is an electrical issue where the whole interior/dash system and door panel buttons fault. There is no heat or air flow and the windows will not roll up or down. If the windows are rolled up during summer and it faults the car gets up over 100 degrees quickly. This could kill me and my passengers. Also if it is cold or raining with there being no air flow the front windshield fogs and there is no defrost causing visibility to completely diminish. We have taken to a Ford dealership for repair and they did not fix the issue. This has been an ongoing issue for 2 years. We have also attempted to replace the whole control module and this did not fix the issue. I do not have any more money to put into this car in an attempt to fix the issue and it may not work. This is very unsafe for myself as well as the children in my care with child death tolls growing due to heat exposure in hot cars or freezing in the winter. This is at no fault of my own. No warning signs show on the vehicle prior to this happening.
This is actually not a complaint. The recall for my 2014 Ford Fusion has been completed. Recall 23S12/NHTSA Recall 23V162. The brake lines leaked last fall sometime, so I had it repaired at a local auto repair shop, not a Ford Dealer. After the repair, I got the recall notice. I took the notice and my receipt to my Ford Dealer, Borgman Ford, Grandville, Michigan. I was reimbursed by them for the cost of the repair. Evidently, they did not enter into the database that the repair has been done, because I am still getting the recall notices. Getting the notices is not what bothers me, it's that if and when I decide to sell or trade it in, the recall will show not complete. I would appreciate it if you could complete the recall notice.
Many people (including myself) have problems with 2013 to 2016 ford hybrid transmissions. My transmission fails on the well know 14b07 problem, where bearings fail and the car simply gives you a warning a stops in the middle of the road, luckily I had time to push my car to the side, avoiding an accident. Ford should fix this for free once many customers had the same problem. I took my car to a dealership and the answer was to buy a new transmission for over $7000 dollars. They do not even offer a repair for it.
2014 Ford Fusion hybrid bought brand new, ordered it out of the catalog and have been the only owners. Passed it on down to my husband when I purchased a different Ford in 2019. He started the vehicle, backed out of a parking space and began to drive home from a family event. Suddenly he reported he had to turn the steering wheel extremely hard to make the curves on a very winding road! He immediately slowed down and noticed AdvanceTrac system and Steering Safety alerts come up on the dashboard as well as something about Incline Assist. Both of our children were with him! I could have lost my entire family yesterday, on my youngest's birthday!!! Unfortunately it occurred after 5pm on a Saturday so I haven't gotten in touch with anyone at the Ford manufacturer or local service shop to have it inspected or an estimate for repair. I'm so thankful my family made it home safely but extremely upset with Ford after reading the multiple number of reports of the same thing happening on the same year and model! I have always stood by the Brand, buying only from them and attending Ford only car shows! I seriously don't know what to think right now.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V011000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. However, upon picking up the vehicle and driving, the vehicle would not exceed 40 MPH. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. Additionally, the vehicle started surging. The brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated independently. The contact was able to drive back to the dealer and parked the vehicle. The dealer completed unknown repairs on the vehicle. The contact was then able to drive to her residence without any further issues. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,152.
Since receiving the Fusion from the previous owner, there had been a "dead spot" in the middle of the steering. I didn't think anything of it as it didn't have an effect on performance. While driving down the highway, I received a "steering assist failure, service required". The car was operating just fine so we continued home. Upon starting a few days later, the message re-appeared and the steering was tight with the engine running. I put the car in drive and got more warnings, "not in park", "hill assist not", and the steering message. Trying to turn the steering wheel with the engine running was more difficult than an old truck with no power steering. Did not drive the car. After a lot of research, this appears to be a known failure but one not applicable to this VIN #. The Fusion has electronic powering steering (EPS). The main issue is the seal around the shaft that lets water in and either ruins the electronics or rusts the bolts and other parts. Unfortunately if the EPS has failed, it is about a $3,000-$4,000+ repair; quote not from Ford. The EPS alone is about $800-$1,000 re-manufactured or $1,500+ new from Ford. (Ford wouldn't give me a direct quote without seeing the car.) I plan to use a trailer or flatbed to take the car to a dealership to have them look at it in person as well as read the computer codes. Researching further in car forums and Fusion forums online, I found a few people that have had this repair covered under warranty (this car is no longer under warranty, miles or years). My other concern is that this is a possible known issue but this VIN is excluded for some reason. If the repair is not covered by Ford, we will be donating the car or selling it for parts depending on which is easier at the time. (This is a hail damaged car that isn't worth the price of the repairs).
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Prior to the failure, the dealer was made aware of the issue; however, the dealer informed the contact that they would not perform the recall repair until the transmission shifter cable bushing was fractured. The contact stated that while the gear shifter was in park(P), the vehicle rolled backward, nearly causing a collision. The contact applied the parking brake and stopped the vehicle from rolling. AAA arrived on the scene and informed the contact after an inspection, that the transmission shifter cable bushing was fractured. AAA applied electric tape to the damaged transmission shifter cable bushing. The contact was able to drive to her residence; however, the gear shifter indicated that the vehicle was in neutral(N) while it was parked with the parking brake applied. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I have an Electronic Brake System in my Ford Fusion. I rarely use the function. However, when entering into my vehicle, the Electronic Brake System is flashing BRAKE repeatedly, even when I never placed it in that function when turning off my car prior. I went to get my car tested and nothing was found. No problem codes. This may be a defect with the car itself.
The right front (passenger side) brake line burst. I started the engine and felt that the brake pedal would not move. When I pressed the brake pedal a second time it went all the way to the floor. Shortly after the brake pedal pushed to the floor the low brake oil warning appeared on the dash. I then looked under the car and I could see brake fluid all over the ground. Fortunately this didn't happen a little earlier in the day when my wife was driving in Boston and on Interstate 93. The results could have been very serious! I have found many existing complaints on the internet and there is already a recall for a couple of Ford vehicles (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2020/RCMN-20V469-7118.pdf) that should be expanded to cover Ford Fusions.

My car has a recall and there is. It a fix for is yet and the dealer won’t give me a rental until I get it fixed and I’m out of a car basically because it’s unsafe to drive

I took my Ford Fusion in for its 50000 mile maintenance. The tech was unable to remove the lug nuts because they were swollen due to the poor design by Ford. I had to replace all 20 lug nuts at a cost of $200. If I did not replace them I would be unable to change a flat tire if I were to have one.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH and pulling out of a parking lot, an audible alarm in the vehicle activated. The contact stated that the vehicle then lost power steering functionality. The contact towed the vehicle to a certified mechanic who stated that the failure was related to high friction within the power steering. The bolts that held the module to the rack had severe rust. The contact was informed that the power steering needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the repair was not covered under a service bulletin or a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
The power steering failed on my 2014 Ford Fusion. As I was driving I received a system alert and pulled over within a mile - the power steering was still functioning at this time. I pulled into a parking lot and turned the car off. When I restarted the car there were multiple similar alerts and the power steering was not functioning and the steering was locked up - almost impossible to move. Even the tow truck driver commented on how he was unable to budge it. I am lucky that I was able to pull over and park my car before the power steering failed. I had to get it towed to a local repair shop and they confirmed that the problem was corrosion in the fasteners or bolts of the electric power steering motor that caused the power steering motor to become dislodged. They informed me that there was a service bulletin out for this particular issue on Ford Fusions and to try to contact Ford about it. There is a recall for 2014 Ford Fusions regarding this issue but my VIN did not fall in the recall so Ford will not help with it. The repair shop was unable to do anything so I now have to have the car towed another 30 miles to a Ford dealership. The repair shop also told me as they were looking into it that the part alone would have cost $1200 and there will be additional programming needed.
Coolant is leaking into the engine causing the engine to fail. The engine is going to have to be replaced. This is a known problem in the 2013 to 2019 Ford Fusions. Ford refuses to he'll with the issue.

The vehicle was towed to the residence; then driven by a family member to the local dealer. The dealer diagnosed a failure with the electric steering gear. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number 19V632000 (Steering). The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
The engine would not product power from stop to driving speed. This became evident when we were trying to accelerate to make a left turn through oncoming traffic. We were almost in an accident as the car / engine would not accelerate under partial or wide open throttle. I had my wife, child, and a child's friend in the vehicle at the time this issue first occurred. The Vehicle is currently in my position in front of my house. It is available for inspection if needed. The vehicle was inspected and was shown to have no compression in cylinder #2. This was causing a misfire in cylinder #2. This was causing the loss of power. There were no indicators prior to the loss of power. This vehicle was in the same shop a month and half prior to replace a water pump and belt.
Brake hose ruptured. It was confirmed and already replaced by an independent service center so it is not available for inspection. My safety and others’ safety was put at risk with the inability to stop the vehicle in motion as expected. There were no warning messages/lamps/symptoms prior to failure or after failure.
