NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2015 Ford Fusion. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the driver’s side front tire lost air and became flat, but the independent mechanic was unable to remove the wheel from the vehicle due to the lug nuts being swollen. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who replaced the lug nuts. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 48,000.
Randomly and without warning, the entire climate control system shuts off as well as the entire center console. The only message during this period is "temporarily lost communication with climate control". When all this shuts off, the drivers side controls for the windows becomes inoperative as well as the passenger side lock/unlock button. This renders a safety hazard because during times of heat and cold it becomes impossible to run the climate control or roll the windows down for any air movement. Also an extreme hazard is the passenger is unable to unlock the doors in even of an emergency. Occasionally when this happens, the air bag light will illuminate, causing unknown safety hazards in that aspect. I have contacted the dealership and was told it sounds like a potentially faulty computer module, or faulty wiring that could cost thousands to repair. The issue occurs 80% of the time the car is in operation and seems to happen more on hot days where it becomes critical to have air movement/AC.
BLUF: Safety issue related to the brake sensor pad failing, resulting in unpredictable engine performance. On 02JUL21, I went to eat lunch and parked my car as normal. When I returned to my car, I noticed that my brake lights were still on, despite the engine being off and me being away from the car for 30 minutes. At the time, i assumed that I must have bumped the key fob buttons, and did not overthink it. However, as I drove the vehicle, I noticed significant loss of engine power as I sped up. As in, I would attempt to accelerate (normal rate, not aggressive), and at some random point, the engine would lose power (as though in limp mode), and would not respond to further throttle input. This could be resolved by lifting my foot completely off the gas pedal and reapplying pressure. Then I would accelerate again for approx. 2-3 seconds, then encounter another loss of power (and corresponding loss of speed). As a result, my speed on the road was unpredictable, as the car was not responding to my throttle inputs properly. After a nerve-wracking drive like this, I attempted to troubleshoot the car, and found that the spacer/bearing pad that the brake sensor bears on had fractured into pieces and was no longer functioning. It appears that the car's computer believed that the brakes were being applied when they were not, and so the computer was putting the car into some sort of reduced power mode, but not giving any check engine light warnings or similar notifications (I checked with an OBD reader, no codes given). Ford does not sell a replacement part for this pad, so I have rigged up a short-term alternative, but I am concerned that if it, too, fails - or for anyone else encountering this problem - the erratic speed and inability to control the car will result in a traffic accident.
Rear view camera intermittently stops working entirely or shows a mirrored image (view is reversed).
This is a complaint on the ability to get repair made under NHSTA 20V-177, Ford recall notice 20S15. Under the process set up by Ford Motor Company I am being told by 2 dealers the repair can take up 2 to 5 days with the vehicle at the shop. The labor time allotted by Ford for my vehicle is 1.8 Hrs to make the repair. Ford is NOT authorizing a rental car. It is my understanding that recall notices issued by NHSTA should not be any expense to the consumer and completed in a timely manner. How are consumers like myself, who is a senior citizen with only one vehicle suppose to get around? Or a working person to get to work. Why is the NHSTA letting Ford get away with this? Is this not a serious safety issue? Your response is appreciated.
Had dealer work on recall 18s20. Transmission linkage. After 9 days got the car back and the recall work failed with less than 60 miles traveled. creating a very dangerous roll away event. Basically the car was placed in park. The car rolled away.
While driving, my vehicle stalled with no obvious warning. There were no lights displayed or other issues with the vehicle prior to this. I was able to press the gas pedal; however, it did not function. The car immediately slowed to a "coasting" speed while in traffic. This has occurred without warning on at least 3 occasions, all while in traffic. I have also noticed that this happens after having turned and after accelerating. This could have easily caused injury to myself and other drivers.
Dashboard shows "temporarily lost connection with climate system". When displayed, the air conditioning system (cold or heat) works. Other functions on dash board are also unavailable. Windows or door locks do not work. Considerable safety concern for all but especially a vehicle transporting young children and/or infants. Summer heats rise to unbearable to dangerous to deadly if not addressed. Ford apparently has no fix but the issue is well documented amongst Ford owners. Unsure why this isn't a recall option given the nature and number of concerns. any help at all would be appreciated. While I provide today's date that it occurred, i share the problem has been ongoing for several years. It is on and off with the only consistent indication being when it is hot outside.
I was driving in hot 95 degree weather on on freeway with my A/C on going 65 MPH when my car beeped and a message popped up saying my engine coolant was too hot. My temp guage was at the highest temperature at Hot in the recline. I quickly turned off my A/C and slowed down and got into the farthest right lane. I was about to pull over when the temp guage dropped back to normal operating level which is about the middle. I drove slowly and exited and the car was NOT steaming or smoking. I left it running and checked underneath and NO leaks or drips of any kind. I drove off and upon accelerating the temp rose up not quite to the top of guage but close and then back to normal again. I got to my destination and left 5 hours later and it seemed fine. I checked under hood that night and coolant was below MIN line. I checked again the next morning and it was still at the same level. I have a 1.5 ecoboost engine and notice some white smoke coming out tail pipe some mornings when reversing out of driveway on rear camera. I had to order coolant and meanwhile took it straight to my mechanic who can't find a problem. Where did the coolant go? There are no codes popping up. I get regular oil changes and maintenance. I thought my engine was going to blow up. I've never drove a car and saw the temp guage at the top without some sort of steam or loss of power. My mechanic says he did the pressure test overnight and all seems fine. I safely changed lanes but it was very nerve-racking. My mechanic drove it onto freeway and says guage goes up and down but doesn't know why. I hear a watery sound by my feet sometimes when accelerating from a stop. I thought it might be the turbo engine? It runs a bit rough sometimes too. UNCERTAIN but I dont want to get stuck on the road later or pay for costly repairs when issue could been avoided. Already having to pay 200.00 to diagnose and potentially another 200.00 for further testing. I'm at 71,000 miles now and out of warranty.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the horn inadvertently activated. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 92,620.
My wife's Ford Fusion started having issues in 2021. I was responding to check engine lights for things like spark plugs, O2 sensors, variable valve solenoids, etc. Eventually, as these check engine lights continued, in 2022 I took the car into the dealer to have it diagnosed. They told me that the whole engine needed to be rebuilt. They obviously see this problem frequently, as the woman I spoke to had lots of familiarity with the specific problem with these Ecoboost engines. She said that engine coolant will leak into the cylinder and cause lots of problems like the ones I was experiencing, and can even lead to a fire. The only solution they had was to rebuild and replace the cylinder head for $10,000. It was not long after the visit to the dealer that the car starting misfiring. It is very violent and the engine is running on only 3 cylinders most of the time. It is not safe to drive anymore.
My 2015 Ford Fusion is having an issue where the coolant is leaking into the cylinders. I had new spark plugs and coils replaced twice in less than a week because of this issue because they broke. It’s an issue I have read that a lot of Ford fusions have but no recall has been issued. To fix this problem, Ford gave me an estimate of over $8000 and it should be fixed by ford since it’s a revolving issue with certain models.
Front brake lines on ford fusion 2015 titanium broke. Only have the image of the break lines but the front drivers side break line was bubbled up and the passenger side brake line split while I was driving. My safety was put at risk when my braking system gave out in the middle of an intersection. This was confirmed by a towing company and by a break repair service company the same day. No warning lights came on until after my brake fluid had been fully drained from the car.
I PURCHASED MY USED 2015 FORD FUSION WITH ON 70,000 MILES ON IT ON A TUESDAY, ON THE FOLLOWING THURSDAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP TO BE DIAGNOSED AND WAS TOLD IT JUST NEEDED COOLANT. SO THEY ADDED COOLANT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE......BUT THEN THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO BE QUICKLY DIAGNOSED AND THE CODE SHOWED UP AS P26CE (ENGINE COOLANT PUMP-OVERSPEED/AIR IN SYSTEM), I THEN CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS COOLANT STILL IN THE TANK AND NOTICED THAT THE TANK WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. SO I THEN TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE SHOP THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THEY SEARCHED FOR THE LEAK. THEY EVENTUALLY FOUND THE LEAK IN THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING. THEY SHOWED ME THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND HOW CORRODED IT WAS, THEY THEN HAD TO ORDER A NEW THERMOSTAT HOUSING AND LET ME KNOW THAT THE NEW PART STILL WOULDNT BE A PERMANENT FIX, THAT IN 70,000 MORE MILES THE NEW THERMOSTAT HOUSING WILL BECOME DEFECTIVE AGAIN BECAUSE OF CORROSION. FORD SHOULD OFFER A PERMANENT FIX FOR THE CORRODING THERMOSTAT HOUSINGS!!!
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with the head gasket needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Car idles rough and almost stalls causing a safety issue. The problem is a bad block. Coolant leaks into the cylinders causing the car to lose power and smoke out the exhaust. The problem was diagnosed by a local auto repair shop. No check engine lights or warnings came on the dash.
Front right brake line hose ruptured during use on highway to slow vehicle and disengage cruise control. While doing so a loss of resistance was noticed and vehicle was safely driven to a stop with E-brake assistance. Hose was replaced by owner with aftermarket part. Owner still has OEM part if inspection requested. Tracking number 11420735 assigned by NHTSA is for left brake line hose which ruptured 4 months earlier.
CAR STARTED TO SPUTTER AND STALL WHILE IDLE BUT IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. STALLS IN STOP AND GO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. FORD HAS SAID ITS THE TORQUE CONVERTER ON THE TRANSMISSION.
I WALKED OUTSIDE ONE MORING TO START MY CAR AND THERE WAS A PROLONGED CRANKING TO TURN THE ENGINE OVER, RIGHT AWAY AFTER PUTTING IT IN DRIVE THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER, ALSO A HESITATION THAT WAS NEVER THERE BEFORE. CHECK ENIGNE LIGHT CAME ONE. HAD IT SCANNED SURE ENOUGH MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 3 (P0303). WHITE SMOKE WXITING FROM EXHAUST AT START UP. VERY SLOW TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DONT HAVE THE FUNDS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE.
FOR NO REASON AT ALL THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT NEEDS SERVICED CONTINUOUSLY COMES ON WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING STILL MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. HAS NOTICED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG FORD VEHICLES MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 100000 MILES ON IT. THERE'S NO RHYME OR REASON WHEN IT HAPPENS OR ANY WARNING. COULD MAKE A CAR CRASH A VERY REAL POSSIBILITY.
THE EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE RECALL 15S14 HAPPENED TO MY 2015 FORD FUSION ENERGI. FOR SOME REASON MINE IS NOT LISTED EVEN THOUGH IT FITS THE DATES, MAKE AND MODEL OF THE RECALL AND THE EXACT PROBLEM AS THE RECALL. I HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING GEAR MOTOR REPLACED BECAUSE THE BOLTS CORRODED OFF. CAN WE GET MY VIN ADDED AND REIMBURSED.
FUEL SYSTEM LOSES PRESSURE SOMETIMES AND THE CAR CUTS OFF COMPLETELY, SOMETIMES AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THAT TRANSMISSION ALSO SHIFTS ERRATICALLY SOMETIMES WHICH IS ALSO DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF I NEED TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT, IT WONT SHIFT CORRECTLY AND MAKES IT MORE DIFFICULT TO DO SO.
TRUNK RANDOMLY OPENS ON ITS OWN. OPENS CONSTANTLY THROUGHOUT DAY EVEN WHEN DRIVING DOWN ROAD. THINGS HAVE BLOWN OUT OF TRUNK WHILE DRIVING AND HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO PULL OVER ON SIDE OF ROAD AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE ACCIDENTS.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME IN, FORD DEALER SAYS SEATBELT RETRACTOR PIN BROKEN, ELECTRICAL CONNECTION CORRODED AND ENTIRE ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED! THE HAVE A SERVICE ALERT ON THIS PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL. AIRBAG WILL NOT OPERATE UNTIL FIXED! CANNOT AFFORD THE COST OF REPAIR! HELP!
I FOUND LITTLE LIGHT YELLOW PLASTIC UNDER MY RUG AFTER NOT KNOWING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR THE BACK LIGHT BRAKE LIGHT WON'T TURN OFF IT'S A LITTLE BUTTON THAT CONTROL THE BRAKES NOW MY BACK LIGHT WON'T TURN OFFF I HAVE TO TAKE THE FUSE OUT AND MY CAR WON'T GO PAST 45-50 MPH BEFORE IT STARTS STALLING. THE YELLOW PLASTIC I CANNOT FIND ANY WHERE. WHAT KEEPS POPPING UP IS HILL START NOT AVAILABLE AS WELL
ENGINE HAD MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2 DURING ACCELERATION AT STOP SIGN ON CITY STREET. CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHILE TURNING SINCE 1 CYLINDER WAS NOT OPERATIONAL. CONSEQUENTLY I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER CAR.
FLEXIBLE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED AND CAUSED CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF BRAKES (THURS, MAR 18, 2021). SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED - FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT 15-18 MONTHS AGO - ALSO REPORTED. BOTH TIMES VEHICLE TAKEN TO MAC HAIK FORD DEALERSHIP IN HOUSTON, TX FOR SERVICE. (BOTH TIMES FAILED WHILE IN FAST FOOD WAITING LINE).
JUST GOT THIS FORD VEHICLE A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND FOR SOME REASON MY CAR WOULDN'T START. I RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND HAD NUMEROUS CODES P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0030, C0014, P0047, P0141, AND A FEW OTHERS. I LOOKED FOR LOOSE WIRES, CHECKED FUSES, PLUGS ETC. THE ONLY THING AT THIS POINT I NOTICED WAS TWO CRACKED SPARK PLUGS, SO I REPLACED ALL OFF THEM. AFTER THAT THE CAR STARTED SO I THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED. CLOSED THE HOOD TURNED THE CAR TO OFF, THEN TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. IT DID NOT START. SO I CHECKED ALL THE FLUIDS AND SEEN THE ANTIFREEZE DISAPPEARED, I HAD PREVIOUSLY FILLED IT. I LOOKED FOR ANY VISIBLE LEAKS, PUDDLES, AND CHECKED FOR WET CARPET AND FOUND NOTHING. I WENT AND BOUGHT ANOTHER LARGE JUG OF ANTIFREEZE PUT IT IN AND WATCHED IT ALL DISAPPEAR BEFORE MY EYES. I COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT, BUT I GOT THE CAR STARTED AND STILL CONTINUED TO GET MASSIVE ERROR CODES, WHITE SMOKE, ROUGH SOUND, ETC. THEN SEARCHED MORE AND FOUND IT SOUNDS LIKE BLOWN HEAD GASKET, I CHECKED AND THE OIL HAD A MILKY TINT. THIS I THEN FOUND WAS A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE, SO I SPOKE WITH SOMEONE FROM FORD ON MARCH 20, 2021 AND THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO CHECK IF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP HAD THE PARTS TO GET MY CAR IN OR IF THEY NEEDED TO ORDER THE PARTS. I WAS SUPPOSE TO GET A CALL BACK BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING. I HAVE NOT BEEN DRIVING, I DID USE LEAK FIX IT SEEMED TO STOP THE LEAK AND CLEAR THE CODES BUT MY DASH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING SO I DIDN'T WANT TO CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE. THE RECALL NUMBER I FOUND WAS NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10174400, MY CAR IS A 2015 FORD FUSION ECOBOOST 1.5L, VIN NUMBER# [XXX], AND MY LOCAL FORD IS IN HEATH, OHIO 43056 AT MATHEWS FORD. I AM GETTING THE IMPRESSION THIS IS GOING TO BE AT MY COST AFTER CONTACTING FORD AGAIN, NOW TELLING ME THAT IT WILL NEED DIAGNOSED AT FORD, AND MAY BE AT MY COST. WHY DOESN'T THE RECALL LIST UNDER MY VIN? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local Auto Zone where it was scanned and the code for the failure of the catalytic convertor was retrieved. Additionally, the contact stated that the catalytic convertor had previously been replaced 3 years earlier. The contact stated that the catalytic convertor was rattling whenever the vehicle was started. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired because the warranty had expired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER - JIM BURKE FORD (2001 OAK ST, BAKERSFIELD, CA 93301, (661)328-3600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,215.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, HONING COMING FROM REAR DRIVER SIDE, AFTER FILLING WITH GAS THE ENGINE FIRES UP PROPERLY BUT THEN SPUTTERS OUT, CODES ARE READING EVAPORATOR PURGE SYSTEM FAILURE
THE CAR IS BURPING IN THE GAS CAP. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO START AFTER FUELING. AND WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. CODE P1450 $07E8PD & P1450 $07E8. I CLEAR THE CODE AND IN A DAY.OR SO IT COMES BACK ON. THIS STARTED AROUND 78K MILES. I HAVE 79201. ON MY CAR. PLASTING A TIGHT PLASTIC WRAP OVER THE TANK REDUCES BURPING AND RANDOM SHUT OFF.. THIS IA A MAJOR REPAIR FOR A CAR WITH THIS MILEAGE LOCAL NON INTERSTATE MILES. THAT HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR. THIS SEEMS TO BECA COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE FUSION BASED ON INTERNET SEARCH.
I have a 2015 ford fusion with around 37000miles. But the sealing between air bag and passenger side dashboard are broken. I'm afraid that the air bag might pumped out under normal condition if the cracks are too big. I think it could be quality issue. It could be very dangerous and put our lives at risk. Besides that, there was no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. I called Ford customer service, they said that it could be their quality problem. However, they won't take the responsibility because they don't have recall for that issue. I think it put mine and my family's lives at risk, and I do need to bring attention.
2015 FORD FUSION WITH 85,000 MILES HAD STEERING GEAR FAIL. VEHICLE ALREADY HAD RECALL FOR CORROSION ON STEERING BOX BOLTS. STEERING GEARS ARE BUILT FOR 10/12/15 YEARS AND THIS FAILED IN UNDER 6 YEARS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. MY SON WAS DRIVING AND THE POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE DRIVES AS IF IT DOESN'T HAVE POWER STEERING. THE TSC OFF AND TSC INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE LIT UP ON THE DASH.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD SCREEN
POWER STEERING MAKES LOUD THUNKING SOUNDS WHENEVER I TURN RIGHT OR LEFT, WHETHER CAR IS MOVING OR STOPPED. IT'S COMING FROM THE STEERING RACK MECHANISM ITSELF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 5 MPH, THE STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE REQUIRED AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AS THE VEHICLE SIMULTANEOUSLY LOSS POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY. THE CONTACT'S WIFE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V250000 (STEERING) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. NIELSEN FORD (375 NJ-23, WANTAGE, NJ 07461) WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
I HAVE A 2015 FORD FUSION MY ENGINE HAS STOPED WORKING.I ONLY HAVE 145000 MILES.I WAS BEEN ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES.IF I HAD KNOWN I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED IT
To keep it short. This is 1 of 3 Ford vehicles that I had to pay to have every lug nut replaced! They are 'swollen' is the term used. Prior to this, I replaced 1 lug in my 45 year driving history and that was because it broke off. I have called Ford and Lincoln and they are aware of the problem but say there is not program in place for a resolution. My complaint was escalated I was told. Hahaha. Their hand needs to be forced. They are not going to willingly do the right thing going forward nor address refunds! They have 'escalated' all 3 of my issues. I would imagine that there is a fourth coming at some point when my daughters car needs to go into the shop. $250+ a car is a joke and an expense nobody needs. Please help. The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while at a stop, the vehicle would independently shift into neutral without warning. The contact had to restart the vehicle to resume normal driving functionality. The contact had linked the failure to a defective powertrain control module (PCM). The contact had notified a dealer of the failure and was informed that there would be a three-week wait for an appointment to have the vehicle diagnosed. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
THE AFFECTED VEHICLE IS A 2015 FORD FUSION ENERGI WITH 80,350 MILES. VIN: 3FA6P0SU1FR I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM KELLER FORD IN HANFORD CALIFORNIA ON 11JAN2021, AT 79,902 MILES. ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, SYMPTOMS STARTED WITH A HIGH PITCH NOISE, FOLLOWED BY, A BURNING SMELL, MOTOR OVER TEMP WARNING, AND FINALLY A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND A "PULL OVER SAFELY" WARNING. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING MORNING TO BE WORKED ON, WHERE THEY FOUND THE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY TO BE THE AFFECTED ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN REPLACED SOMETIME LAST YEAR PRIOR TO MY OWNERSHIP, WHICH WAS UNDISCLOSED TO ME AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, SO THIS IS NOW THE SECCOND TIME THIS CAR HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE ECVT ASSEMBLY. (PART NUMBER HM5Z-7000-ARM). THE ORIGINAL REPAIR WAS A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT, BUT THIS TIME, FORD IS LOOKING AT HAVING THE DEALERSHIP REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND MANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, ASIDE FOR TWO TSBS. 20-2219 AND 19-2391. THE HYBRID ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, WHICH INCLUDES THE ECVT, IS WARRANTED BY FORD UP TO 8 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR MOTOR DETACHED FROM THE GEAR HOUSING. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V632000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.
MY VEHICLE'S BATTERY DRAINED OUT BECAUSE WE HADN'T BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE MUCH DUE TO COVID STAY-HOME ORDERS IN MICHIGAN AND STAYING AT HOME OVER THE HOLIDAYS. WE ROLLED IT OUT OF THE GARAGE AND JUMP STARTED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY, THEN LET IT RUN FOR AN HOUR TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY RATHER THAN DRIVING IT BECAUSE OUR POWER STEERING AND ADVANCE TRAC WERE SHOWING FAULT MESSAGES AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE MESSAGES DIDN'T GO AWAY AFTER WE TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT. WE EVEN LEFT IT OVERNIGHT AND TRIED THE NEXT MORNING. THE MESSAGES ARE AS FOLLOWS: LOW BATTERY FEATURES TEMPORARILY TURNED OFF STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC THERE ARE ALSO TWO WARNING LIGHTS SHOWING A CAR SKIDDING, ONE WITH THE TEXT "OFF" UNDER IT. I BELIEVE THESE ARE THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS FOR STEERING PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEMS HTTPS://WWW.CONSUMERREPORTS.ORG/CAR-RECALLS-DEFECTS/FORD-RECALLS-SEDANS-AND-SUVS-STEERING-PROBLEM/ HTTP://WWW.FORDPROBLEMS.COM/EPAS/ I CONTACTED FORD TO SEE IF THEY COULD PROVIDE SOME ADVICE OR ASSISTANCE. THERE DON'T SEEM TO BE ANY RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE FOR MY VEHICLE'S VIN. THEY SUGGESTED I TRY TURNING IT OFF AND TURNING IT ON AGAIN (A "KEY CYCLE") TO SEE IF IT WOULD RESET, WHICH I HAVE DONE A FEW TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. THEY THEN SUGGESTED TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH THE STEERING WHEEL BEING SO DIFFICULT TO TURN, SO WILL NEED TO HAVE IT TOWED. I ALSO I FEAR I COULD BE EXPENSIVE TO GET THIS FIXED IF FORD DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS A SERVICE ISSUE. I THOUGHT I SHOULD DOCUMENT THIS IN CASE OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND THIS IS IN FACT A SYSTEMATIC ISSUE, NOT AN ISOLATED CASE.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V011000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and 22V413000 (Power Train) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY CONTROL PANEL STARTED THROWING AN ALARM OF ENGINE TEMP HIGH. IT WOULD GO OFF THEN BACK ON SEVERAL TIMES. ABOUT 15-30 MINS HEADING HOME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CUT POWER TO THE ENGINE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE LIFE OF THIS CAR. FIRST TIME FORD REPLACED THE ENGINE. THIS TIME THEY SAY THAT ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WANT ME TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. THE LIFE OF THIS NEW ENGINE IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD AND LESS THAN 12000 MILES ON IT. COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT IS GOING TO GET SOMEBODY KILLED IF IT HASN'T ALREADY!
Battery dies suddenly. No crank no start.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY I-45 WHEN SHE ENCOUNTERED SOME SNOW. THE STEERING ASSIST LIGHT, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT AND ADVANCE TRAC LIGHT CAME ON. POWER WAS LOST TO THE STEERING WHEEL MAKING IT EXTREMELY HARD FOR HERE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE FAULT MAYBE A WHEEL SENSOR OR SOME OTHER COMPONENT CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN. I REALLY DON'T KNOW. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED AND NO POLICE WAS INVOLVE.
WHILE IAM DRIVING SOME TIME AIR BAGS IMAGE LIGHT UP ON THE SPEEDOMETER, COLLISION WARNING WILL ALSO LIGHT UP AND STEERING GETTING TIGHTER .THIS IS HAPPENING WHILE IAM DRIVING ON THE STREETS AND SOME TIME ITS HAPPENING ON FREEWAY TOO
Front left brake line hoses ruptured while driving. Replaced with OEM part. Ford had +/- 500k Edge vehicles recalled for same issue, but not Fusions of the same era using the same type hose material, likely from same vendor. Occurred in parking lot at slow speed, when brake pedal was pressed it went directly to the floor and all hydraulic pressure lost. Part replaced by owner with OEM part.
MY WARRANTY WITH THE VEHICLE WAS FOR 60,000 MILES, AT 62,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE CYLINDER BLOCK AND THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. FORD DENIED MY REQUEST FOR ANY ASSISTANCE IN THE REPAIR.
