I am writing to report a widespread issue with the hands-free phone function in vehicles equipped with the Ford Sync System. The phone button used to connect a mobile device for hands-free calling does not work properly. Because of this malfunction, I am unable to use my phone in a hands-free manner while operating my vehicle, which creates a potential safety hazard and increases the risk of distracted driving. This issue appears to be common among other owners with the same Sync System, suggesting a possible defect in design or software. Since this feature is intended as a safety measure to help drivers stay focused on the road, I believe it should be investigated and repaired under a recall. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
Ford made defective wheel lug nuts. I noticed a nail in my tire & decided to get a new set of tires. The tire shop could not remove the tires because the lug nuts were swollen. Depending on where I am this could be safety issue. I called Ford customer care 3 times (2 hang ups by their reps) and a local dealer. All of them could could care less about the defect.
the shifter cable comes off. Now it's permanently broken off. Why is Ford using a cheap plastic bushing that degrades rather quickly? I was sitting in a local restaurant's drive-thru line, I put my car in park so the torque converter is not actually spinning while the car is idling still. When the line moves up, I place the car in drive and I get no movement. I pop my hood in the middle of a busy drive-thru line only to see my transmission cable is no longer connected to the transmission itself to even move.,
We purchased a used 2016 Ford Fusion with about 11,000 miles on it. Within the first 2 weeks we started having issues. These issues have been going on for several years with no fix from Ford. The issues involve the dash not working, no heat, AC, no power steering, no break lights, no headlights, no turn signals. We go to start the car and the main screen never turns on. Basically we have the ability to use the gas and brake and nothing else. We’ve had the car back to the dealership multiple times. Each time they’ve hooked the computer up to the car they’ve said it throws so many codes they don’t know where to start. They wipe the codes, give us the car back and say if it does it agin bring it back. Well we did just that and the usual process repeated. They told us today they couldn’t fix what was wrong unless the problem happened while they’re driving it. 2 times now I’ve narrowly avoided an accident because of the cars electrical system dying while driving it. This car is unsafe to drive as this happens randomly. Ford has been less than helpful at resolving this issue since we’ve bought the car. We’ve got several warranties on this car and it seems to be all for nothing. We also have video and picture proof of these incidents. Ford refuses to look at them stating they need the vehicle to do it while they’re driving it after the massive amounts of codes are cleared.
2016 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AN ISSUE WITH THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THE CONSUMER STATED IN 80 DEGREE WEATHER THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN AND THE A/C WAS INOPERABLE. ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE RADIO BECAME INOPERABLE, THE DISPLAY SCREEN WENT BLACK, THE DOOR LOCKS FAIL, AND THE HEATING/DEFROST/COOLING SYSTEM FAIL.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while shifting the vehicle into park, the gear shift indicator indicated that the vehicle was in neutral. The vehicle rolled backwards. The contact also stated that the shifter would cease not allowing the contact to change gears. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19V362000 (Power train). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Vehicle overheats. Filled up coolant reservoir twice in one week. Checked coolant, coolant low, no leaks, no water going into the oil, coolant evaporates and causes car to overheat.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after locking the doors, the locking mechanism malfunctioned, and the doors could be opened from outside the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was present on all four doors. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 155,000
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while reversing, the back prevention camera display screen went blank and the warning message saying, "back camera unavailable contact the dealership." The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no recall for the failure and did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 55,000.
Passenger door is not latching. The latch mechanism is loose and will not hold the door close. The problem has not been inspected by the dealer. The problem is observed on other Ford Fusions of similar year but my car is not on the recall list.
The bushing that attaches the shifter cable degraded and detached from the transmission. We were driving to our vacation rental (4.5 hours away from home at this point) and we went to put the car in park to get gas. The gear was in Park, but the car read it was still in Drive. We had to use Emergency Brake to keep it in place. We were stranded for almost 2 hours as dealerships and rentals were closed. A body shop owner happened to pull in front of us and helped us temporarily fix it. There was a recall for 2.5 liter engine for this issue in 2019 so my car was not covered. However, the EXACT same issue occurred. There were no warning signs whatsoever prior to failure.
Gear shift was placed in park. Car stayed in reverse, reverse showing on dash as well. Could not fully turn car off. Red shift lever under the console did nothing. The bushing/ball is completely missing from the shift linkage. Has not been inspected by "authorized" repair center. Husband was able to see the problem and manually shift it into drive to get it home. Ford has informed me this vehicle does not have the same problems as the others recalled, yet it IS the exact same issue.
My driver side door will not close. I noticed this when I tried to shut the door and it just bounced open. No Warning! I do not feel safe driving around, knowing my door can open and have myself flung from the vehicle. Same issue as the 20V177000 recall but somehow my car is not under this recall. I purchased this car in New Hampshire but have lived in Arizona since 2017.I see this recall is due to high temperatures and know this is the issue as I take care to never slam my doors. I’ll be taking it to Jim Click Ford dealership for repairs ASAP but I hope to be reimbursed for this in the coming months.
Canister purge valve malfunction. I had trouble starting my car a couple of times and it would randomly stall out. But after getting gas this last time, I noticed a humming/grinding sound coming from the gas tank. When stopped at a red light (in rush hour traffic) the car stalled completely and wouldn't start. Had to wait a few seconds and try starting again and again, when it finally started again the noise was still there. I called a friend and we ran diagnostics on it and it returned the error of the canister purge valve malfunction. This has been a recall on other Ford cars in the past but not showing on my VIN....
Trunk will just randomly open. Parked with no keys in it. Also when driving down the road.
129K MILES. TRANSMISSION SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AT 70 +/- MPH. PULLED INTO GAS STATION, ALLOWED TO COOL FOR 1HR. TRANSMISSION WOULD ENGAGE MOMENTARILY, THEN SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND NOT GO INTO GEAR AGAIN WITHOUT SHUTTING DOWN VEHICLE, RESTART, SHIFT TO D, REPEAT. SEEMS TO HOLD AT LOW SPEED SO LONG AS THERE IS A CONSTANT LOAD ON THE TRANSMISSION. UNSAFE TO REPLICATE AT SPEED. VEHICLE NOT LISTED IN RECALL 18S32 FOR EVAP PURGE VALVE, BUT SHOWED SIMILAR SYMPTOMS STARTING AROUND 126K MILES. VEHICLE SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE FOR PURGE VALVE PRIOR TO TRANSMISSION ISSUE. MAINTENACE NOT COMPLETED YET.
MY 2016 FORD FUSION HAS A COOLANT IS LEAKING IN THE CYLINDER DUE TO HEAD GASKET CAUSING MISS FIRING, OVERHEATING AND SPUTTERING. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE OVERHEATING LIGHT CAME ON CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER TO LET ENGINE COOL DOWN TO PULL OFF ONTO A EXIT. ONLY HAS 120K MILES.
THE CAR CONTINUOUSLY OVERHEATS NO MATTER WHAT I REPLACE IN THE CAR.
I DROVE SLOWLY UP TO AN ATM MACHINE IN A HEAVILY TRAFFICKED PARKING LOT, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE TO BEGIN A BANKING TRANSACTION, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS, THE INSTRUMENT PANELS WAS READING "REVERSE", THE PHYSICAL SHIFTER WAS IN PARK BUT THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING AS THOUGH IN NEUTRAL. I HIT THE BRAKE WHICH ENGAGED EVENTUALLY BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO APPLY. THE SHIFTER WAS LOCKED IN POSITION AND COULD NOT BE MOVED. I LET THE VEHICLE COAST TO A CLOSE BY PARKING SPOT AND THEN APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, WHICH WORKED FINE. I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE CAR FROM NEUTRAL TO PARK SO I COULD SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF BUT I COULD NOT. EVENTUALLY, THE VEHICLE BATTERY DIED FROM AUXILLIARY POWER BEING ON SO LONG WITHOUT ANY WAY TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A KNOWN RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE, 18V471, BUT MY PARTICULAR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED SOMEHOW.
I can be driving and/or stopped and ABS, stability control and steering wheel indicator lights come on. Once I stop car and turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on, errors go away. Nothing may happen for a week but then the next week it may happen every time I drive. For me, this is a safety issue because once steering wheel has no power it is very, very hard to turn. I am attaching a “vehicle diagnostic report” that shows 2 of 18 systems had errors.
“Temporarily Lost communication with the Climate System” when this appears on the dash, AC won’t turn on, windows won’t roll up or down, defrost doesn’t work, nothing on the dash works except hazard lights, doors won’t lock, can’t adjust mirrors. Happens very sporadically, coincidentally when it starts to get hot (80° and above)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STATIONARY, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL AWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GENE MESSER FORD LUBBOCK (6000 19TH ST, LUBBOCK, TX 79407, (806) 793-2727) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING SHIFTER CABLE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 89,000.
HELLO, I HAVE A 2016 FORD FUSION. I BOUGHT IT IN 2019 FROM A BIG LOCAL CAR DEALER. I BROUGHT IT IN TO A FORD DEALER ON 4/16 FOR ROUTINE SERVICE. THE SERVICE PERSON CALLED ME AFTER I DROPPED OFF THE CAR TO TELL ME THAT MY FUSION HAS "SWOLLEN LUG NUTS" AND IT WOULD COST ME $164 FOR ALL NEW LUG NUTS AND LABOR COSTS. I HAD NO REAL CHOICE AND HAD TO PAY. SUBSEQUENTLY I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND THAT "SWOLLEN LUG NUTS" HAVE BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR SOME FORD OWNERS LIKE ME. FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON TO ME MY FORD DEALER SAID THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. THANKFULLY I WAS AT THE FORD DEALER FOR ROUTINE SERVICE RATHER THAN HAVING A FLAT TIRE ON AN INTERSTATE. I CONTACTED FORD AND ESSENTIALLY I WAS TOLD TO SAVE THE RECEIPT IF THERE EVER IS A RECALL AND THAT WOULD EMAIL FORD ENGINEERS OF MY ISSUE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. CAN YOU HELP? THANK YOU
I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS NOW. FIRST THE SEATS STOPPED MOVING BACK AND FORTH. NO WARRANTY ON THE CAR SO TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD AND THEY SAID IT WAS OFF ITS TRACK. A MONTH LATER THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AND THEY SAID MY SEAT STOPPED SENDING COMMANDS TO THE COMPUTER. NOW THREE MONTHS LATER MY CAR RANDOMLY STARTED MAKING A LOUD RATTLING NOISE. GOT LOUDER EVERY TIME I STARTED THE CAR. SO ONCE AGAIN TOOK IT TO MY NEARBY FORD. THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID MY FLEX PLATE HAS CRACKED ALL AROUND AND THAT IT WOULD BE A $1600 REPAIR. THIS CAR IS STILL FAIRLY NEW. LOOKED INTO IT AND IT SEEMS A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXPERIENCE AND FORD IS AWARE OF THE MALFUNCTION AFTER MANY COMPLAINTS BUT STILL HAS NOT MADE IT A RECALL. VERY UPSETTING THAT I WILL BE WITHOUT A CAR FOR A WEEK AND HAVE TO PAY $1600 JUST TO GET IT FIXED WHEN IT SEEMS TO BE A MASS PROBLEM. TOOK IT TO A OUTSIDE SHOP AND THEY SAID THEY'VE HEARD ABOUT THE PROBLEM BEFORE AND IT'S MORE THAN JUST THE FLEXPLATE BUT THERE'S NO ONE AROUND THAT CAN DO THE JOB.
THE TRUNK RANDOMLY OPENS ON ITS OWN. IT HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS DRIVING DOWN ANY SORT OF ROAD OR DRIVEWAY, PARKED AND RUNNING, OR OFF ALTOGETHER. WHEN I GET OUT TO SHUT THE TRUNK SOMETIMES IT STAYS SHUT AND SOMETIMES IT WILL REPEATEDLY OPEN THE TRUNK 4 OR 5 MORE TIMES BEFORE I CAN EVEN GET BACK IN THE CAR. I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY AS I AM A SMALL CURRENTLY PREGNANT FEMALE TO HAVE TO KEEP EXITING MY CAR TO SHUT MY TRUNK REPEATEDLY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE LAST YEAR. I GOT ONLINE AND READ SEVERAL FORUMS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH MY CAR COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. RECENTLY, I HAVE GONE TO MY CAR TO LEAVE AND FOUND IT COMPLETELY DEAD, AS IN IT WILL NOT UNLOCK, OR START. I ENDED UP REPLACING THE BATTERY THINKING THAT MY BE IT. HARDLY A MONTH LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO CALL A FORD DEALERSHIP AND DISCUSS THE PROBLEM ALONG WITH THE TRUNK OPENING ISSUE. I CHARGED THE BATTERY AND BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND WITNESSED THE TRUNK OPENING RANDOMLY THEY FOUND THAT THE TRUNK SWITCH WAS FAULTY WHICH CAUSED THE CARS COMPUTER TO BE ON EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. THEY REPLACED THE TRUNK SWITCH ON THE TRUNK LID. I ASKED IF THE PART WAS CORRODED OR DAMAGED OR WHAT CAUSED IT TO HAPPEN AND THEY SAID IT LOOKED FINE, IT WAS NOT DAMAGED ON THE EXTERIOR AND EVERYTHING WAS SEALED AS IT SHOULD BE INSIDE. I STATED THAT I USED MY TRUNK LESS THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON, ESPECIALLY LATELY AS I'VE BEEN AFRAID TO USE IT. KNOWING IT WAS A 2016 MODEL, I ASKED IF THE PART WAS OLD OR WORN THAT IT SHOULD NEED REPLACED ALREADY AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED NO. THEY STATED THAT THE PART WAS FAULTY AND THAT I HAD NOT CAUSED IT IN ANY WAY. I ENDED UP HAVING TO PAY $309.04 FOR THIS PART TO BE REPLACED WHICH MAKES ME NOT HAPPY SINCE IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A PART ON A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD.
CAR BEGAN RUNNING HOT WHILE ON INTERSTATE AND IMMEDIATELY SLOWED TO 40MPH IN 70MPH ZONE. BARELY MADE IT OFF INTERSTATE WITHOUT BEING HIT. AFTER WAITING FOR OVER AN HOUR AND FILLING WITH WATER I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME BEFORE IT RAN HOT AGAIN. CODES P1299 AND P0303 ARE SHOWING. WHEN I CALLED FORD I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE HAD TO FIX HUNDREDS OF CARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH IS INTERNAL COOLANT LOSS, OVERHEATING, AND MISFIRE OF CYLINDER #3. THIS COSTS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS I WAS TOLD. I JUST FIXED A FAULTY PURGE SOLENOID AND CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THOUSANDS MORE ON THINGS FORD SHOULD HAVE RECALLED!
AT APPROXIMATELY 125000 MILES, THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WAS EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY RESTARTING AFTER REFUELING. LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE CODE READER DISPLAYED ETC P1450. ONLINE RESEARCH POINTED TO A FAULTY CANNISTER PURGE VALVE. THIS FAULT AND ACCOMPANYING SYMPTOMS WERE OUTLINED IN RECALL # 18S32. THIS RECALL IS NOT CURRENTLY APPLICABLE TO MY VIN. DIAGNOSIS PERFORMED BY SANDERS FORD IN SWANSBORO, NC CONFIRMED FAULTY PURGE VALVE.
- Window motor passanger side not working unable to close window. 2023 - Sync system not working after battery and key changed by dealership. 2021 - Rearview Camera no display found - lighter port in console over heats
MY 2016 FORD FUSION HAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000 MILES ON IT AND THREW THREE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS IN THE TIME SINCE I PURCHASED IT (WITH ABOUT 18K ON IT). I TOOK IT IN IMMEDIATELY EVERY TIME. ON THE THIRD TIME I WAS TOLD THERE WAS COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE BLOCK AND IT WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE. IT WAS 2WEEKS PAST WARRANTY. I HAVE RESEARCHED, DESPITE KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT ENGINES, AND FOUND THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE COMMON. FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE REPLACEMENT. THEY ARE NOW SAYING MY TURBO CHARGER IS BAD AND I AM OUT FOR 3600?? IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR TWO WEEKS... DEALER SHOP AT WHICH I BOUGHT IT AND I AM VERY FRUSTRATED.
I OWN A 2016 FORD FUSION SE AND MY TRUNK CONSTANTLY OPENS BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD OR PARKED I CAN BE 20 MI AWAY FROM IT AND I COME BACK AND THE TRUNK IS OPENED. SO OBVIOUSLY IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME ACCIDENTALLY HITTING THE BUTTON. IT HAS STARTED 4/1/21 AND CONTINUES TO OPEN.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the factory lug nuts were swollen and difficult to remove the tires when needed. The contact had not spoken with a dealer nor a certified mechanic. The contact intended on replacing the lug nuts replaced with a better-recommended type. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 67,490.
THE AIRBAG COMES ON WHEN CAR IS STARTED AND STAYS ON. EVEN WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE TO WORK MY CAR HAS BEEN PARKED OUTSIDE MY HOUSE I GOT IN TRIED STARTING IT AND DONT WANT TO TURN ON I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE TO HAVE BATTERY CHECKED AND BATTERY IS GOOD IT WILL START IF I GET A JUMP I CALLED MY MECHANIC AND HE SAYS IT COULD BE MY ALTERNATOR I DONT SEE HOW I BARLEY GOT THE CAR I SEEN THAT THERE WAS SOME ISSUES WITH THE ALTERNATOR ON MY CAR
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while turning on the vehicle, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a misfire detected in cylinder # 1. the check engine warning light was reset. The independent mechanic suggested that the vehicle be driven for a couple of miles to see if the check engine warning light would reappear. During the drive, the contact noticed that there was white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe and an overheat alert message appeared on the display. The contact researched online and saw that there was a technical service bulletin related to the failure and had the vehicle towed back to the same independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the long block was cracked and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,907.
WHENEVER I UNLOCK MY VEHICLE THE TRUNK OPENS. SOMETIMES IT OPENS WHILE DRIVING.
I PURCHASED THIS IN GOOD CONDITION FROM INDEPENDENT DEALER. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WAS ATTRIBUTED TO EVAP CANISTER. GOT THAT REPLACED, ENGINE LIGHT STAYED OFF FOR 4 MONTHS. LIGHT RETURNED AND MECHANIC ASSESSED FLUID LEAK INTO CYLINDERS 2 AND 3, REPLACED SPARK PLUGS. LIGHT WAS OFF FOR A DAY, RETURNED WHILE DRIVING AND NOW WE ARE FACED WITH REPLACING THE ENGINE. LESS THAN 100K ON THE ENGINE, THIS IS THEFT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED OVERHEATING WITH THE HIGH-TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CYLINDER HEAD WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A SECOND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO HAVE NEW TIRES INSTALLED, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW AND COULD NOT BE USED. I HAD TO PURCHASE NEW LUG NUTS BEFORE THE TIRES COULD BE INSTALLED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE LUG NUTS COULD NOT BE PUT BACK ON THE CAR BECAUSE IT WOULD CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE, AS THE TOOL USED TO REMOVE THEM WOULD NOT FIT IN THE CASE OF A FLAT TIRE OR THE CAP MAY COME LOOSE AND CAUSE THE LUG NUT TO BECOME LOOSE AND CAUSE THE TIRE TO FALL OFF THE VEHICLE.
THE ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM) FAILS AFTER A FEW YEARS, LEAVING THE CAR PHONE INOPERABLE ON THE SYNC SYSTEM, FORCING THE USER TO MANUALLY DIAL AND PLACE CALLS ON THEIR CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING, WHICH HAS BECOME ILLEGAL IN MANY STATES AS IT TAKES THE DRIVERS EYES OFF THE ROAD FOR PERIODS AT A TIME. THE FORD FUSION ALSO HAS ISSUES WITH LEAKAGE IN THE TRUNK. I WAS UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT I WAS THE ONLY ONE, UNTIL SEARCHING THE INTERNET TO FIND THAT VARIOUS FUSION OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE IT MAY START TO AFFECT THE LIGHTS IN THE TRUNK OR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS THAT RUN THROUGH IT, START TO RUST AREAS IN THE TRUNK, AND CAUSE MOLD IF NOT PROPERLY DRIED IMMEDIATELY.
RECENTLY, BOTH OF THE FRONT HEATED AND COOLED SEATS ON MY FORD FUSION STOPPED WORKING. I WENT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR, TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE BURNT CONNECTOR IS DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE SCME MODULE AND THAT BOTH THE CONNECTOR AND SCME WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $596.11. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I DON'T BELIEVE THE MODULE IS FAILED, AND THAT REGARDLESS, A MODULE FAILURE SHOULD NEVER RESULT IN A CONNECTOR BURNING AS ALL THIS CIRCUITRY SHOULD BE FUSE PROTECTED AGAINST OVERCURRENT WITHOUT BURNING. I TOLD THEM THAT I BELIEVED THE MODULE APPEARS TO BE FAILED ON THEIR DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM BECAUSE THE GROUND TO THE MODULE HAS MELTED AND HAS THUS BECOME DISCONNECTED. I COMPLETED SOME INVESTIGATION AND THE FAILURE APPEARS TO BE RELATED TO INSUFFICIENT GROUNDING TO THE SCME MODULE (SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE) UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT THAT RESULTS IN OVERCURRENT TO A GROUND PIN TO THE SCME, WHICH RESULTS IN THE CONNECTOR MELTING AND BECOMING DISCONNECTED FROM THE SCME. I AM CONCERNED DUE TO FIRE RISK IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AS WELL AS ANY IMPACT THIS FAILURE MAY HAVE ON THE SEAT AIRBAGS. I WAS ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM MYSELF BY REPLACING THE CONNECTOR AND ADDING A SECOND GROUND WIRE TO THE SCME TO PROVIDE PROPER GROUNDING. ATTACHED IS A PICTURE OF THE MELTED WIRE HARNESS CONNECTOR ON MY CAR.
CAR WILL NOT SHIFT GEAR. SHIFTER IS IN PARK BUT CAR IS IN REVERSE.
Temporarily Lost communication with the Climate System. When this error appears on the dash the following doesn’t work: AC and Heat are shut off completely. None of the controls on the bottom half of the center console panel work. This includes the heated seats, radio knobs, or any climate control button, rear defrost doesn’t work. The climate control quadrant, the lower right, on the touch screen doesn’t work. The outside temperature doesn’t work. The control buttons on the door don’t work, can’t adjust mirrors, seat recalls or control the windows. When there is no AC and can’t lower the windows, this is very bad in the summer can cause heat stroke. Bad in the winter can’t keep the windows free of ice. Happens very sporadically, even while driving it turns off. So far, the trouble shooting seems to indicate a wiring harness under the driver seat as the problem. Numerous owners have reported this problem. The dealers have not been able to resolve the issue. Even after paying 1000s of dollars.
CAR DOES NOT MOVE IN SELECTED GEAR. FIRST INCIDENT: THE CAR WAS PUT INTO DRIVE BUT THE CAR MOVED IN REVERSE. IT WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL 19S16 WHICH DESCRIBES EXACTLY THESE SYMPTOMS. SHORTLY AFTER THE RECALL SERVICE, THE SECOND INCIDENT: CAR WAS PUT INTO PARK BUT MOVED IN REVERSE AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. IT WAS RETURNED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY REPORTED BACK THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE RECALL PROCEDURE CLEARLY DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE THE DEALERSHIP SUBURBAN FORD OF WATERFORD MI IS CHARGING ME FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC.
FEBRUARY 19TH, 2021 (FRIDAY) WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE DASH LIGHTS FOR CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY CONTROL, EMERGENCY BRAKE, AIRBAG LIGHT, ADVANCE TRACK AND STEERING ASSIST FAULT BECAME ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON, THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO USE TURN SIGNALS AND STEERING BECAME STIFF. THE DRIVER TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON, THE LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER ILLUMINATED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME (20 MILES) WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE FOLLOWING DAY (SATURDAY) THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT 70MPH ON THE HIGH WAY WHEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. THEY IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE HIGHWAY (THIS IS WHEN IT WAS LEARNED THAT THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD NOT WORK). THE DRIVER AGAIN TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER DROVE THE VEHICLE ANOTHER 50 MILES WITHOUT INCIDENT AND SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE FORD DEALER. SUNDAY, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH, THE VEHICLE LIGHTS AGAIN CAME ON. THE DRIVER EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND POWERED OFF/ON THE VEHICLE AGAIN. AND WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THEIR TRIP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERATED AGAIN UNTIL TUESDAY, FEB 23RD WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER (5 MILE TRIP AT 40MPH). NO LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED WHEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BEECHMONT FORD, CINCINNATI OH FOR ASSESSMENT AND REPAIR. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE RACK ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AND PURCHASED FROM THIS DEALER. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 45K
