MY 2000 FORD MUSTANG SEAT BELT WONT RETRACT. CALLED DEALER ABOUT DEFECT THEY SAID NOT ONE OF CARS ON RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY NEED TO LOOK INTO EXPANDING THE RECALL TO COVER MORE CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM. *JB
A/C CONDENSATION DRAIN TUBE DRIPS ON EXHAUST MANIFOLD CAUSING THE EXHAUST TO BRAKE. ITS AN ON-GOING PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO WELD THE TUBE BACK TOGETHER. FROM MANY SHOPS I'VE SPOKEN TO THIS IS A PROBLEM THEY SEE AND KNOW A LOT ABOUT. *NM
IAC VALVE, WHEN THE CAR WILL START BUT WILL NOT IDLE, LOOKING AT EVERYONE'S TROUBLE WITH THIS ISSUE, MAKES ME WONDER WHY FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT GROW BALLS AND MAKE IT RIGHT. I WANTED A MUSTANG BUT THE FORD NAME WILL NEVER BE PARKED IN MY DRIVE WAY AGAIN. MR H. FORD WOULD HANG HIS HEAD DOWN OVER THIS ON. *JB
ON MAY 30, 2005, OUR DAUGHTER WAS EXITING A PARKING LOT IN HER 2000 FORD MUSTANG. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE EXITS WEREN''T CLEARLY MARKED, SHE DROVE OVER THE SIDEWALK, RESULTING IN APPROXIMATELY A FOUR INCH DROP OFF. AFTER WAITING FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR, SHE ACCELERATED TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT AND BOTH OF HER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. SHE WAS FORTUNATE THAT A POLICE OFFICER WITNESSED THIS INCIDENT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE OFFICER, I WAS ASSURED THAT SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR. I ALSO REVIEWED PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE AREA TO VIEW TO SEE THE DROP-OFF AND CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT IT WAS THE EQUIVALENT OF A ''HIGHWAY POT-HOLE'', WHICH SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS.

UNABLE TO FINISH YOUR QUESTIONS AS I DO NOT KNOW WHO THE MANUFACTURER IS.ENTERED FIRESTONE TO GET THROUGH FIELDS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD MUSTANG. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE CONTACT OBSERVED THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AUTOMATIC SHOULDER BELT RETRACTORS WERE INOPERATIVE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT RETRACTOR WEBBING FAILED TO EXTRACT AND THE SEAT BELT COULD NOT BE WORN BY THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 99V25000 IS RELATED TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE VIN NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. HOWEVER, NO REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE AT THIS TIME.*AK
LENS COVERS FOR HEADLIGHTS ARE FOGGY AND PITTED SO BAD THE BULB ISN'T EVEN VISIBLE MAKING NIGHTTIME DRIVING DIFFICULT. WE WORK WITH SEVERAL POLICE OFFICERS WHO HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERN AS THEIR FORD POLICE CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH LIMITED VISIBILITY DURING NIGHT PATROL DUTY, OFTEN CHOOSING NOT ENGAGING IN CRIMINAL CHASES OVER PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERNS. THE EXPENSE TO REPLACE THESE COVERS AVERAGES OVER $200 PER LENS COVER AND IS NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. *JB
WHILE TURNING ON THE HEAT DEFOGGER IT FAILED TO COME ON. THE VENTS WOULD BLOW OUT COLD AIR. THIS CAUSED POOR VISIBILITY TO SEE PROPERLY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE DRIVE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE DEFOGGER. THE DRIVER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE AND HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD SPLIT WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT ALL THE COOLANT AND WATER LEAKED FROM THE ENGINE. THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
I AM ABOUT TO INSTALL, FOR THE THIRD TIME, A SECOND DAY AIR PUMP INTO MY 2000 FORD MUSTANG. THIS IS AN EMISSIONS PART AND THE MUSTANG IS DESIGNED TO PASS CALIFORNIA EMISSION STANDARDS. I LIVE IN WISCONSIN AND THIS PART HAS GONE OUT 3 TIMES. ALSO IT CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM FORD FOR AROUND 300 DOLLARS. IT ALWAYS MANAGES TO MAKE IT JUST PAST THE PART WARRANTY PERIOD THEN GOES OUT. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME EXCEPT TAKE MORE OF MY MONEY. I LOOKED INTO IT AND THEY ONLY USED THIS PART IN 1999-2000 MUSTANGS AND LINCOLN 2000-2001. I CAN NOT FIND A RECALL ON IT BUT THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM. FORD WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY INQUIRIES AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT ELSE I CAN DO. *JB
FAILURE JUST HAPPENED. FAILURE OF THE "MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH" ON OUR 2000 MUSTANG CAUSED THE FAILURE OF THE TURN SIGNALS, BRAKE LIGHTS, WIPERS, AND SPEED CONTROL. HAD PROBLEM LOOKED AT BY SEVERAL MECHANICS. THEY REPLACED FUSES, WHICH REMEDIED THE SITUATION FOR 24 HOURS. THEN THE FUSES WOULD BLOW, AND THE SYSTEMS WOULD FAIL. CHEVROLET DEALER DISCOVERED THAT LEAVING THE HAZARD SWITCH IN THE "ON" POSITION WOULD ALLOW THESE SYSTEMS TO FUNCTION NORMALLY, BUT DISABLED THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS. UPON CALLING THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND SPEAKING WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM, AND HE SAID IT WAS THE "MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH", AND THAT THEY HAD REPLACED "A FEW". I HAVE NOT HAD THE REPAIR DONE YET, BUT INTEND TO IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. MEANWHILE, MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THE CAR WITH THE HAZARD SWITCH IN THE "ON" POSITION IN ORDER TO HAVE BRAKE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, WIPERS, AND HER SPEED CONTROL OPERABLE. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!*AK
THE DRIVER SEAT BELT BECOMES STUCK AND DOES NOT FULLY RETRACT. IT ALSO DOES NOT LOCK UP WHEN YOU BRAKE QUICKLY. THE SEAT BELT IN THE BACK SEAT IS STUCK AND WILL NOT MOVE OR RETRACT AT ALL. IT CANNOT BE USED AT ALL, AND THEREFORE I CANNOT INSTALL THE CHILD CAR SEAT FOR MY BABY. THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2000 FORD MUSTANG, BUT WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. THEY ADVISED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE SEATBELTS REPAIRED.
IF THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE MOVING IT WILL LOSE POWER STEERING AND BRAKING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE. *JB
FORD MUSTANG 2000, FRONT HEAD LIGHT COVERS BEGAN TO SHOW SMALL CRACKS SIMILAR TO SPIDER WEB. WITHIN A 2 MONTH PERIOD ENTIRE COVER HAD CRACKS ALL OVER IT, TO THE POINT WHERE IT APPEARS THAT THE LIGHTS ARE COVERED IN SOMETHING WHITE. I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE LIGHT IS SO DIM. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER PEOPLE WHOM HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH FORD CARS. THIS IS CRAZY AND DANGEROUS. I CONTACT FORD NO RECALLS ON THIS CAR AND THEY DID NOT SEEM TO CARE ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *JB
NOTICED CAR NOSE DIVED A LITTLE BIT MORE WHEN BRAKING, PLUS EXTRA DISTANCE REQUIRED TO COME TO FULL STOP. REAR BRAKES WERE RECENTLY REPLACED DUE TO THE ARMATURE GUIDE PIN(S) IN THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY BECOMING FROZEN. ONE PIN IN EACH REAR ASSEMBLY (THE SAME PIN IN BOTH). EXTRA BRAKING STRESS PUT ON FRONT BRAKES REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS DUE TO LOSS OF MINIMAL THICKNES (NOT DUE TO GOUGING AND TURNING).*AK
WHILE DRIVING PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAG WENT OFF INADVERTENTLY. PASSENGER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED BY AMBULANCE TO A HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. *AK
THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT FROM THE RETRACTOR. ANY ONE RIDING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS LEFT UNRESTRAINED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *NM *NM
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER STOPPED SUDDENLY, CAUSING THE VEHICLE BEHIND TO BE INVOLVED IN A CRASH. MANUFACTURER TOLD CONSUMER TO REPORT INCIDENT TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
WHEN ENGAGING THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE WITH THE BRAKE APPLIED ENGINE REEVED AND REACHED TO 2500 RPMS. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. *AK
WHILE DRIVING SEAT BACK BOLT BROKE, LAYING THE CONSUMER COMPLETELY DOWN. CONSUMER WAS VERY CONCERNED. *AK * TC
I BOUGHT MY MUSTANG IN 2001 AND THE PAINT ON THE ROOF OF MY CAR IS RUSTING/CRACKING FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THERE ARE SEVERAL OF THESE FORMING I WENT TO KOONS FORD OF FALLS CHURCH AND TALKED TO JOHN MORRIS (703) 241-7298 EXT 1500 WHICH GOT IN CONTACT WITH A FORD REP RAY RISANO AND THEY STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE CAR IS PAST THE 3 YEAR/36,000 MILE WARRANTY. I HAVE VERY DETAILED PHOTOGRAPHS IF REQUESTED.*AK
OVER THE PAST YEAR MY 2000 FORD MUSTANG HAS ACCELERATED BY ITSELF WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDDLE..AND ITS A 5 SPEED ...(STICK SHIFT) THANK GOODNESS I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO THROW IT INTO NEUTERAL AND THEN I HAVE TO SLAM THE GAS PEDDLE DOWN TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO UNSTICK ..BOTH TIMES HAVE BEEN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC...WHEN I ASKED FORD TO LOOK AT IT ..THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDNT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT .. I HAD TAKEN IT IN TO HAVE THE CATALITIC CONVERTER FIXED..AND THEY SAID THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE PROBLEM BUT IN TALKING IT OVER WITH MY BROTHER (WHO IS A CAR MECHANIC) HE DIDNT THINK THAT THE CATALITIC CONV. WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING LIKE THAT !.. IT HASNT HAPPENED IN A WHILE BUT ITS VERY NERVE WRACKING WHEN IT DOES/NOT SURE IF THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ANY OTHER MUSTANGS OUT THERE..
DURING ACCELERATION GOING UP HILL THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BROKE, COUSING ME TO ALMOST LOOS CONTROLL OF THE VEHICAL. THE TOP PART OF THE SEAT IS SECURED WITH ONLY ONE BOLT WITCH SNAPED, ALLOWING THE TOP HALF (BACK SUPPORT) OF THE SEAT TO FOLD COMPLETELY BACK WORDS ON TO THE BACK SEAT. I WHEIGH ABOUT 180 LB, IF THERE WAS SOME ON IN THE BACK THEY MAY HAVE BEEN HURT, AND I HAD TO RELY ON HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL TO PREVENT ME FROM FALLING BACK. TO REPAIR I HAD TO DRILL THE REMAING HALF OF THE BOLT OUT, AND THEN RETHRED THE WHOLE, AND INSERT A NEW BOLT. *AK
REAR AXLE BEARINGS AND AXLE SHAFTS PREMATURELY FAILED. FIRST OCCURANCE WAS AT 34,000 MILES UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. DEALER REPLACED CARRIER BEARINGS, WHEEL BEARINGS AND AXLE SHAFTS. AXLES AND BEARINGS FAILED AGAIN AT 46,000 MILES, AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. DEALER CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND FORD ELECTED TO REPLACE BEARINGS AND AXLES AGAIN UNDER WARRANTY. NOW AT 90,000 MILES THE BEARINGS AND SHAFTS HAVE FAILED AGAIN. DEALER IS EVALUATING THE PROBLEM WITH FORD AND I AM WAITING FOR A SOLUTION UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO EITHER A MANUFACTURING DEFECT OR DESIGN DEFECT. I AM WORRIED THAT THE BEARINGS WILL SEIZE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.*AK
CONSUMER INDICATED THAT BOTH PLASTIC HEADLIGHTS HAD GLAZED OVER, ALMOST OPAQUE. IT RESULTED IN EXTREMELY REDUCED HEADLIGHT VISIBILITY DURING THE NIGHT, OBSTRUCTING CONSUMER'S VIEW WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE PLASTIC ON BOTH HEADLIGHTS WAS SO BAD THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE WHEN THE SUN STARTED TO SET. *TC
WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE. *AK
AFTER HEARING A NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE LEFT REAR UNIBODY BEGAN TO CRACK. THE DEALER STATED THAT IF THE CRACK GETS WORSE IT WILL RELEASE THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
THE SUPPORT MECHANISM THAT SUPPORTS THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER STATES THAT NO DEFECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. *JB
WHILE CLEANING MY SPARK PLUGS, I NOTICED THE NUMBER #3 SPARK PLUG HAD OIL ON THE SPARK PLUG THREAD. WHEN I PUT MY FINGER INTO THE NUMBER #3 CYLINDER HOLE OIL SHOWED ON MY FINGER. THE NUMBER #3 PLUG WAS ALSO FOULED COMPARED TO THE OTHER NEW PLUGS. THIS COULD LEAD TO ENGINE DAMAGE OR A FIRE IN THE ENGINE AREA. I HEARD THAT FORD HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM, BUT I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO SERVICE BULLETIN ON MY CAR FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY MANY OWNERS THAT FORD HAD A VALVE COVER BUFFLE TO PCV VALVE PROBLEM ON 1999 AND 2000 MUSTANG 3.8, BUT THEY WILL NOT DO ANY THING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD MY MANY OWNERS THAT THEY MOD. AND REMOVED THE PCV VALVE AND REPLACED IT WITH FILTERS TO STOP OIL GETTING INTO THE CYLINDERS. THIS WOULD MAKE IT ILLEGAL AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE PROBLEM CORRECTED PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE 2001 VALVE COVERS AND UP CORRECTED THIS PROBLEM.*AK
I BOUGHT A 2000 FORD MUSTANG AND THREE DAYS LATER I NOTICED THE SHIFT INDICATOR POSITION MARKER ON THE FLOOR WAS NOT SHOWING WHAT GEAR THE CAR WAS IN. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DURING DAY AND MOST LIKELY DURING NIGHT DRIVING AND COULD ALSO CAUSE TRANMISSION PROBLEMS NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED A NEW BEZEL ASY-TRANSMISSION AND IT WORKS FINE NOW, BUT A CAR THAT'S ONLY FOUR YEARS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR THAT THE SHIFT INDICATOR MARKER HAS BROKEN.*AK
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S POWER BRAKE BOOSTER.*MR THE BRAKES WERE NOISY WHEN USED. THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE DRIVERS BACK SEAT BROKE. THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL, BUT WAS ABLE REGAIN CONTROL AND PULLLED OVER. *AK THE BROKEN BOLT WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERS. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE FORD EXPLORERS WERE BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME BOLT. *SC *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2000 FORD MUSTANG GT. CONSUMER STATES THAT SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2004 HE HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION. THIS WILL MAKE THREE TIMES. ALL THE PARTS ARE REMANUFACTURED. *TT
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED. AS A RESULT, DRIVER HIT THE WINDSHIELD, AND SUSTAINED SEVERE LOWER BACK AND NECK INJURIES. *AK
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
PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM USED CAR LOT ON 5/14/2004. HAD SUSPICION THAT VEHICLE HAD BEEN WRECKED AND REPAIRED. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THEY DO NOT SELL VEHICLES LIKE THAT AND IT WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. I RECEIVED A STATEMENT FROM AN AUTO BODY SHOP STATING THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WRECKED AND REPAIRED AND STILL HAS SUSPENSION DAMAGE. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM THINKS I AM LYING AND TRYING TO GET OUT OF A CONTRACT. I HAVE TAKEN PICTURES OF THE VEHICLE AND ITS DAMAGES. I HAVE ALSO OBTAINED A CAR FAX REPORT STATING THAT THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT REPORTED IN WASHINGTON STATE WITH A POLICE REPORT # AND A ACCIDENT REPORT #. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, IT DROVE REALLY SQUIRMY, PULLED TO BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE AND HAD A PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS TEST DROVE. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS BRAKES AND IT ACTUALLY WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GEARS. THE BRAKES WERE OK, THEY WERE NOT THE BEST AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE THAT WELL. HEADLIGHT PLASTIC LENSES HAVE BECOME VERY CLOUDED AND IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE HEADLIGHTS EMIT LESS LIGHT AND IN A MUCH MORE DEFUSED MANNER, SO THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT AS EFFECTIVE. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT 4 YEARS IN THE SUN IN TEXAS HAS PROBABLY CAUSED QUITE A FEW FORD PRODUCTS WITH THESE PLASTIC HEADLIGHT LENSES (COVERS) TO BE IN THIS CONDITION.*AK
FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BROKE OFF FROM ITS RIM WHILE DRIVING. *MR THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WITH IT'S RIM FRAME HAD BROKEN OFF FROM THE CENTER BASE. THERE WAS A SERIES OF BODY/CHASSIS DAMAGE AND THE AIR BAG(S) DID NOT DEPLOY. *SC *JB

WHILE DRIVING A KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR ANALYSIS AND THE MECAHNIC INDICATED THAT THE REAR END WAS BAD. *AK (BEARING RING PINION GEAR) THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESES VEHICLES. *SC
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONSUMER ROUNDED A CORNER NEAR A HIDDEN STOP LIGHT. ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS AT THE STOP LIGHT AND THE CONSUMER COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE LEFT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE HIT THE RIGHT REAR OF THE OTHER MOTORIST. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AFTER THE COLLISION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES INVOLVED WITH THE COLLISION. THE POLICE DID ARRIVE ON THE SCENE, BUT NO ONE WAS CITED. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT. *JB WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH CONSUMER REAR ENDED A VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. THE AIR BAG EQUIPMENT DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE SUFFERED UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGE WHEN THE CONSUMER TRIED TO MISS THE OTHER VEHICLE BY TRYING TO JUMP THE CURB.*MR
I PURCHASED A 2000 MUSTANG GT. WHEN COLD, AND PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, IT WILL SUDDENLY JUMP FORWARD OR REVERSE DEPENDING ON IF YOUR IN REVERSE OR DRIVE. IT IS IF IT "GIVES" ITSELF GAS. I TRIED CONTACTING FORD AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM, BUT NOT SOMETHING THAT THEY WERE "PREPARED" TO DEAL WITH AT THIS TIME. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THAT IF SOMEONE IS NOT PREPARED, WILL CAUSE THEM TO GO INTO TRAFFIC, HIT A YOUNG CHILD OR GAS PUMP. THIS IS NOT ISOLATED, I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE DOES THIS OFTEN, AND IF MY WIFE IS DRIVING IT, I HAVE TO REMIND HER TO BE CAREFUL. *AK
AS I WAS DRIVING AND REACHED 30 MPH IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFTING TO THE NEXT GEAR. IT MADE A SCREECHING NOISE AND WOULD NOT PASS 30 MPH MEAN WHILE THE RPM WAS TO 8. THEN IT JUMPED AND PASSED 30 MPH. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME IT REACHED 30 MPH. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS SLOW TO SHIFT. THIS 2000 MUSTANG ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES!!- AND I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED--ON TOP OF THAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE $1,600 COST. I'VE HEARD A LOT OF THE SAME COMPLAINT ABOUT FORD MUSTANG 'S TRANSMISSION. FOR A 3 YEAR OLD MUSTANG WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A DEFECTED TRANSMISSION !!!!EVEN THOUGHT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED -- FORD SHOULD HELP COVER THE COST. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO POWER AND WAS UNRESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT TWO ENGINE MOUNTING BOLTS WERE LOOSE. THE MECHANIC ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *NLM
