RE#1448617 EMISSIONS THE SAME SECONDARY AIR PUMP WAS REPLACED ON 7/19/2002 BY FORD UNDER WARRANTEY. WHEN IT FAILED AGAIN ON OR ABOUT 11/10/2003 , THE DEALER CLAIMED IT WAS NOW NOT COVERED. THIS PUMP IS SO NESSESARY,THE NEWER MUSTANGS DO NOT HAVE IT.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED ON A HILL AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ON THE VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE TO ROLL DOWN A HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2003. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE MANUFACTURER. IN MOST CASES AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR A WHILE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON THE VEHICLE WOULD CONTINUE TO ROLL. ALSO, THE CONTACT HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS WORSE. THE SEAT BELTS WILL NOT RETRACT, CAUSING THE SEAT BELTS TO GET CAUGHT IN THE DOOR. THIS PROBLEM EXISTED SINCE THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. *AK
ELECTRICAL SHORT IN WIRE HARNESS CAUSED FIRE. 2000 FORD MUSTANG ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES ON IT. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDETERMINED SPEED ENGINE CHECK LIGHT APPEARED. CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALERSHIP ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
MY 2000 MUSTANG GT, MANUAL TRANSMISSION, KEEPS CUTTING OUT SUDDENLY WITH DECELERATION AND I LOSE MY POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. VERY SCARY. THE IAC VALVE WAS REPLACED 18 MONTHS. AGO WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, BUT I STILL HAD PROBLEMS. AFTER DOING THIS CONTINUALLY FOR 2 DAYS, THE DEALER CHANGED THE IAC AGAIN. FOUR DAYS LATER IT DID IT AGAIN, TWICE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND WHEN I CALLED FORD REGIONAL, I GOT NOTHING USEFUL NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES THIS. *LA
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE FLEW UP. THIS ACTION CAUSED THE HOOD TO BE BENT AND THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE TO BE DAMAGED. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.
FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTION DOESN'T RETRACT. IT STOPPED RETRACTING AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP. THE FRONT SEAT BELT CONTINUE TO NON-RETRACT SO THEY GET CAUGHT IN THE DOORS AND CHIP PAINT AND CAUSE PROBLEMS. *TR
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN HEAD ON COLLISION AT 15 MPH AND AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

IN ORDER TO SHIFT MY 2000 MUSTANG GT INTO REVERSE, I HAVE TO FIRST SHIFT THE CAR INTO FIRST GEAR AS THE REVERSE GEAR IS NOT SYNCHRONIZED. THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS BOUGHT FROM CLAIMS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR BUT THE ISSUE IS NOT STATED IN THE MANUAL AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN INFORMED OTHERWISE. FURTHER, EVEN THOUGH I SHIFT THE CAR INTO FIRST BEFORE GOING TO REVERSE, I STILL HAVE DIFFICULTY GETTING THE STICK INTO REVERSE PERIODICALLY. I HAVE A 2000 FORD MUSTANG V6, AND I HAVE AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER (MAGIC FORD, IN VALENCIA CA ITS BEEN IN THE DEALER FOUR TIMES) CANT FIX AND CANT FIND OUT WHATS WRONG WITH THE CAR. WHENEVER I DROVE THE CAR AND IT GETS HOT AND WHEN I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND TRY RESTARTING THE CAR, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START, I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE ENGINE COOL OFF, THEN THE CAR WOULD START, IT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I STOPPED AT THE GROCERY STORE, AND TRY STARTING THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START, SAME THING WHEN I STOPPED AT THE GASOLINE STATION, I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL IT GETS COOL OFF BEFORE THE WOULD START AGAIN. HERE ARE THE HISTORY OF THE ONGOING PROBLEM, THE FIRST TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHEN IT WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY, THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY DONT KNOW THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE COMPUTER WOULD NOT GIVE OUT ANY CODE, SO THEY CANT FIX THE CAR, BUT THEY KNOW THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. SECOND TIME I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THEY FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE KEY, AND THE IGNITION, SO THEY HAVE TO REPROGRAM THE KEY TO SEND SIGNAL TO THE IGNITION, (I HAVE TO PAY BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF THE WARRANTY, WHEN THEY COULD HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST TIME.) THIRD TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY SAID THE FUEL PUMP WAS LOOSE AND THE BATTERY CABLE WAS LOOSE (I DONT THINK SO) A WEEK LATER, FOURTH TIME I TOOK THE CAR BACK, STILL DOESNT KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH THE CAR, ITS BEEN IN THE DEALER FOR 3 DAYS NOW. I DONT KNOW WHAT IM GOING TO DO WITH THIS CAR. PLEASE ADVICE.

VIBRATING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. IT USUALLY OCCURS WHEN THE A/C IS ON AND THE CAR IS EITHER ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING.*AK
PAINT PEEL,PAINT IS BUBBLING AND SPLITTING ON HOOD AND ROOF. IT IS ALSO CRACKING VERTICAL PART OF TRUNK.
THE IAC VALVE IN MY 2000 GT MUSTANG HAS GONE BAD. CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH IDLE AND COLD STARTUP. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ALL ACROSS THE BOARD WITH MANY MUSTANG OWNERS. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO THE LIGHT AND A RECALL SHOUDL BE MADE.*AK
VEHICLE STALLING WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR TURNING. CLUTCH IS NOT ENGAGED. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT OCCURRED IN OCT. OF 2002 AND IN APRIL 2003.
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK THE CONSUMER SUFFERED INJURED. *JB
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED ON MAY 03, 2003 FROM RAMEY FORD IN TAZEWELL, VA AND UNDER THE TERMS THAT THEY WOULD CHECK THE CLUTCH FOR VIBRATION. UPON CHECKING THE CLUTCH, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE CLUTCH ROD NEEDED REPLACED AND THIS WAS COMPLETED. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK THE FIRST TIME, I HAVE GONE THROUGH AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE CLUTCH MAKING A VIBRATION/RATTLE TYPE NOISE THAT COMES AND GOES EVEN AFTER THE PRESSURE PLATE, THROW-OUT BEARING, AND FLY-WHEEL WERE REPLACED. ALSO, FOR 3 1/2 TO 4 MONTHS THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WOULD COME ON PERIODICALLY AND START BLINKING AND THEN GO OFF, THIS HAS FINALLY STOPPED AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS AT FIXING THE PROBLEM, AFTER THE PCM WAS REPROGRAMMED AND A COIL PACK WAS CHANGED. FOR A CAR THAT LOOKS BRAND NEW INSIDE AND OUT, THESE CONSTANT PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN VERY TROUBLESOME AND AGGRAVATING ESPECIALLY AFTER 6 REPAIR ATTEMPTS (GOING ON 7).
NAR 05/21/2003 *MR DISPUTE SETTLEMENT AGAINST SOUTH WEST FORD. *CB
2000 FORD MUSTANG PARKED IN DRIVEWAY WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. THE DRIVEWAY HAS A SLIGHT GRADE. BRAKE FAILED, AND CAR BACKED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND ACROSS THE ROAD, STRIKING A POLE. DAMAGE TO LEFT FENDER; BROKEN TAILLIGHT. THE CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR THE BRAKE RECALL AND SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. *NLM
I WAS INVOLVED IN A ONE CAR ACCIDENT WHERE I LOST CONTROL AND JUMPED A CURB. MY CAR WAS A 2000 V6 MUSTANG COUPE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WHEN THE CAR MADE CONTACT WITH THE CURB. BUT I WAS THEN AIRBORN IN THE CAR FOR ABOUT 12 FEET AND BY THE TIME MY CAR HIT THE GROUND MY AIR BAGS HAD DEFLATED, CAUSING MY PASSENGER TO HIT HER HEAD ON THE DASHBOARD. SHE HAD HER SEATBELT ON, AND BE KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. ALSO... WHEN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED THEY CAME OUT WITH SUCH FORCE THAT IT KNOCKED MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL, CAUSING ME TO NOT BE ABLE TO STEER THE CAR .SCARED THAT IF THE TIRES WEREN'T STRAIGHT WHEN WE WOULD TOUCH DOWN THAT WE WOULD FLIP. THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED 2 DAYS AGO WHEN MY FRIEND WRECKED HIS 20'01 GT. HE HAD LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CLIPPED A TELEPHONE POLL DOING ABOUT 50MPH. HE THEN JUMPED A DITCH... WENT AIRBORN... AND WRAPPED HIS CAR AROUND A TREE. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED,BUT HAD DEFLATED BY THE TIME HE HAD ANY REAL CONTACT. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHEN HE CLIPPED THE TELEPHONE POLL... BUT WHEN HE NEEDED IT MOST IT HAD ALREADY DEFLATED... CAUSING HIM TO HIT HIS HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEN HAVING HIS HEAD GO THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. AIRBAGS DO NOT NEED TO DEFLATE SO QUICKLY. DESPITE A NEW SET OF MICHELIN'S, OUR 2000 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE TENDS TO LOSE CONTROL IN THE SLIGHTEST BIT OF STANDING OR FLOWING WATER ON THE ROAD. DUE TO POOR SURFACE DRAINAGE IN SOUTH TEXAS, WITH A HEAVY RAIN IT IS TYPICAL TO FIND A THIN FILM OF FLOWING WATER BEFORE AND AFTER A BRIDGE. ALTHOUGH OTHER TRAFFIC APPEARS UNAFFECTED, THE MUSTANG OFTEN LOSES CONTROL AS IT PASSES THROUGH THE WATER. *JB

THE PAINT IS CRACKING AND PEELING ALL OVER THE ROOF OF MY 2 1/2 YEAR OLD MUSTANG. IT STARTED AS ONE SPOT, NOW THERE IS A LARGE HOLE WITH RUST UNDERNEATH IT. THERE ARE ABOUT 13 SMALL CRACKS IN THE PAINT ON THE ROOF WHERE IT IS PEELING, AND OTHER SPOTS ON THE HOOD AND FRONT BUMPER. I HAVE BEEN TO MY DEALER 4-5 TIMES TO ATTEMPT REPAIR AND FINANCIAL REIMBURSEMENT, ONLY TO GET THE RUNAROUND. A FORD REP SUPPOSEDLY LOOKED AT IT, AFTER FORD OFFERED TO PAY HALF THE $400 ESTIMATE, BUT THEY HAVE NOT MADE ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT ME. THE DEALER IS MOSSY FORD IN SAN DIEGO, CA. I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT FORD REPAINTED MY VEHICLE BEFORE SELLING IT TO ME AS "NEW". THE THICKNESS IS 10MM ON THE PAINT; AVERAGE IS 3-4. A REPAINTED CAR IS OBVIOUS UPON INSPECTION OF PAINT SPECIALISTS. RUST FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE HAS "POPPED UP" AND CRACKED THE PAINT COMING FROM THE INSIDE.
STEERING BOLT CAME LOOSE. DEALER NOTIFIED.
VEHICLE HAS 24000 MILES ON IT. AT APPROX. 12000 MILES THE CLUTCH LOST TRAVEL DISTANCE, AND COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED USING THE MANUAL ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE. CLUTCH FROZE ONE MORNING AFTER A VERY COLD SUB-ZERO NIGHT. UPON STARTING VEHICLE WITH CLUTCH PARTIALLY ENGAGED, CLUTCH BURNED. THEN FELL OUT OF 4TH GEAR WHILE TRAVELING AT 40 MPH. DEALER CLAIMS IT IS A WEAR ITEM AND BAD DRIVING RESULTED IN PRESSURE PLATES BEING UNUSUALLY WORN, A PROBLEM WITH THE LINKAGE WAS ALSO NOTED BUT NOT ASSESSED AS CONTRIBUTING TO THE WORN PLATES. CUSTOMER CONTENDS THE LINKAGE FAILED AND CAUSED CONTINUOUS RUBBING OF PRESSURE PLATES INSIDE TRANSMISSION ULTIMATELY LEADING TO FAILURE, AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY MANUFACTURER. PREMATURE WEAR OF THE PLATES IS MOST LIKELY LINKED TO THE FAILURE IN THE LINKAGE AND THE FAILURE OF THE SELF ADJUSTING CLUTCH TO IN EFFECT, SELF ADJUST WHEN THE PEDAL IS PULLED UP AND PUSHED DOWN AS RECOMMENDED IN THE MANUAL. SUSPECT THIS MAY ALSO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE PARTS ORIGINAL TO VEHICLE. TS
WHEN FILLING GAS THE GAS POURS OUT OF THE FILL PIPE BEFOR IT HAS SHUT OFF THE PUMP. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT MOST PUMPS THAT I HAVE VISITED. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL YOUR ARE NEAR THE TOP OF THE TANK. THE GAS JUST SPILLS OUT FOR A FEW SECONDS. COULD CAUSE FIRES, ENVIROMENTAL DAMAGE AND DAMAGE TO PAINT ON CARS.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER FOR DIANOIS OF ENGINE MISS. CHARGED $65.00 COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM WHY CAR WAS MISSING. OKAYED FOR TEAR DOWN ADDITIONAL AN $135.00. WAS TOLD PUSH ROD BENT. VALVE AND VALVE SPRING BROKEN. POSSIBLE HEAD DAMAGE. WAS CALLED TO OKAY AN ADDITIONAL $625.00 CHARGE FOR LOOK FOR POSSIBLE PISTON DAMAGE. ALL PROBLEMS STEMING FROM NUMBER 6 CYCLINDER.
CONSUMER COMPLAINED THAT THE FRONT SEAT BELTS WERE STUCK IN THE RETRACTORS. DEALER EXAMINED THE BELTS AND WILL NOT REPLACE THEM FOR FREE. ONE OF THE BELTS BROKE A YEAR AGO, AND THE OTHER ONE JUST RECENTLY.*AK *TC

CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED DURING WARM WEATHER AND NO WARNING THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND IT WILL BE HARD FOR THE CONSUMER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED. TS
MY 2000 FORD MUSTANG LOST ALL ITS POWER AFTER I JUST PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT. I THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON THE PASSENGER SITE. ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES LATER I SAW FLAMES COMING FROM THE SAME PLACE. AS I EXITED THE CAR AND CLOSED THE DOOR ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND A HORRID NOISE CAME FROM THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BUT BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED 10-15 FOOT HIGH FLAMES WERE SHOOTING IN THE AIR FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR [THIS ALL STARTED TO HAPPEN INCREDIBLY FAST] AND THERE ALSO WAS LOTS OF BLACK SMOKE. ONE OF THE FIREMEN/LADIES TOLD ME THAT IT LOOKED LIKR THE FIRE HAD STARTED IN THE WIRING. ALL OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR BURNED OUT INCLUDING THE HOOD AND SOMEOF THE DASH INSIDE MELTED AND THE FRONT WINDSHILD STARTED TO CRACK FROM THE HEAT OF THE FIRE.
CONSUMER STATED WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES LOCKED UP CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO HAVE A VEHICLE ACCIDENT. DEALER NOTIFIED. TS *TT
WHEN COMING OFF CLUTCH CONSUMER PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL, PEDAL FELT STIFF AND CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE QUICK ENOUGH. CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. CONSUMER HAS BEEN STUCK IN TRAFFIC AS A RESULT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. TS

THERE WERE NOISES COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETECT. THE SUSPENSION CREAKS/POPS WHILE DRIVING AFTER A COLD START, THE NOISES FADE AFTER THE VEHICLE IS WARM. THE RACK AND PINION WAS REPLACED. THE STEERING COLUMN COLLAPSED ON THE CONSUMERS FOOT WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE HEAD ON WITH AN 18 WHEELER. THE VEHICLE DRIFTED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DEALER INSTALLED A NEW SECTOR SHAFT. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SPONGY, THE TIRES STARTED TO DRY CRACK(THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED TO KEEP AN EYE ON), AND THE CENTER CONSOLE WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. *MR *SCC *NLM
CONSUMER CANNOT FILL UP GAS TANK COMPLETELY. VEHICLE CHECKED BY DEALER 4 TIMES, AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DEALER HAS REPLACED FUEL FILLER PIPE, TUBE ASSEMBLY, FUEL VAPOR CONTROL VALVE SOLENOID AND FUEL VAPOR STORAGE CANISTER ASSEMBLY.*AK
WHILE STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION ANOTHER CAR DRIVING 20-30 MPH HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HEAD ON. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY,DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK

WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH CONSUMER RAN HEAD-ON INTO A TELEPHONE POLE, AND NONE OF FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONTACTED DEALER ,AND THE DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK
THIS IS THE 2ND AIR PUMP TO BE REPLACED ON VEHICLE. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED, INDICATING A LOSS OF PERFORMANCE. ENGINE WAS SLUGGISH AND IDLING HIGH AT STOPS. FORD WAS CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL DEALER. HE INFORMED ME THAT THE EEC TEST CODE WAS P0411 WHICH DEALS WITH EMISSIONS. WHEN THE DEALER REMOVED A HOSE TO INSPECT THE COMPONENT, WATER CAME OUT OF THE HOSE. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTIRE AIR PUMP WAS FULL OF WATER AND HAD "BURNED" OUT AS A RESULT. I WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE PUMP AND RELAY REPLACED AT A COST OF $275 FOR PARTS AND $120 FOR LABOR. HE FURTHER INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS EXTREMELY RARE AND HE DID NOT KNOW HOW THE WATER COULD HAVE GOTTEN IN TO THE PUMP. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND INFORMED THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD NO OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE, BUT WOULD FILE THE INFORMATION AWAY FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THIS "PROBLEM" DOES NOT AFFECT DRIVEABILITY OF THE CAR, AND SINCE VIRGINIA DOESN'T REQUIRE EMISSIONS CONTROL TESTING, THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO HAVE IT REPLACED, HOWEVER, THE "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON UNTIL THE AIR PUMP AND RELAY ARE REPLACED.*AK
WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THERE IS A CLANKING NOISE IN BOTTOM OF VEHICLE. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMER WAS GOING 70-75MPH AND WAS HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SPIN. WHILE VEHICLE WAS SPINNING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS HIT HEAD ON BY A VAN. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY ON FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OR PASSENGER SIDE. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
