THE 2005 MUSTANG WINDSHIELD GLASS SEEMS TO BE MUCH "SOFTER" THAN OTHERS ON THE MARKET. WITH ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MILES ON THE CAR I STARTED NOTICING QUITE A FEW VERY SMALL (PIN SIZE) CHIPS IN THE GLASS. NOW AFTER 17K MILES THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THESE LITTLE CHIPS. THIS WINDSHIELD LOOKS WORSE THAN MY OLD PICKUP THAT HAD OVER 250K MILES. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL OTHER 05 OWNERS IN THE FORUMS AND HAVE FOUND THAT THEY TOO ARE EXPERIENCING SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT TOO SEEMED TO BE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF CHIPS WHEN LOOKING AT THE GENERAL CONDITION OF THE REST OF THE VEHICLE. A FEW MINOR CHIPS ON THE FRONT FASCIA AND HOOD ARE ALL THAT THERE IS UP FRONT. NO GRAVEL ROADS IN MY AREA, NOT MUCH CONSTRUCTION EITHER. MY HABITS WHEN DRIVING ARE TO AVOID LARGE VEHICLES AND STAY IN THE OTHER LANES WHEN BEHIND ONE.*JB
WENT TO LIFT PASSENGER SEAT BACK AND SIDE SEAT RELEASE HANDLE CAME OFF. FORD REPLACED HANDLE AND HARDWARE. WITH WRONG COLOR WAS BLACK NOW TAN.
NEW CAR , FAILED TO START NUMEROUS TIMES, DO NOT DRIVE CAR EVERY DAY AS I COMMUTE, ONLY DRIVE ON WEEKENDS. TRY TO START CAR AFTER 1 1/2 WEEKS AND HAD TO JUMP START IT . CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE IT HAS COMPUTER IT WILL BE CONSTANTLY RUNNING AND THAT IS WHY IT DID NOT START. SO AFTER A FEW MORE TIMES NOT STARTING I GOT A DIE HARD BATTERY, CAR HAS FAILED TO START AT LEAST MORE THAN 3 TIMES SINCE. I HARDLY DRIVE THIS CAR, PURCHASED IN 12/04 AND IT ONLY HAS APPROX. 8000 MILES. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY CAR NOT STARTING AFTER A FEW DAYS OF NOT DRIVING. IT HAS ONLY BEEN 5 DAYS SINCE I LAST DROVE AND I HAVE TO JUMP IT AGAIN. I AM AFRAID TO GO ANYWHERE WITH IT. IF I GO AWAY ON VACATION FOR 2WKS , I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT COMING HOME TO A CAR THAT WILL NOT START. I AM TAKING TO DEALER TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE. *TR
I CANNOT FILL THE GAS TANK DUE TO A "BUBBLE" INSIDE WHEN THE TANK IS 1/4 OR LESS FULL. DEALER REPORTED TO REPLACE THE TANK, BUT I HAVE HAD ISSUES FOR 3 + YEARS. DEALER WILL NOT STOP THIS ISSUE. *TR
FUEL TANK IS HARD TO FILL. I WAS TOLD THAT MY DEALER REPLACED THE TANK WITH A "NEWER" VERSION TO PREVENT THE AIR LOCK, BUT I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN JAN '05, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS WITH NO HELP FROM FORD. *TR
MANY OF THE COMPLAINTS ALREADY FILED ARE MINE. THE GAS TANK ON MY 2005 MUSTANG GT WILL NOT TAKE FUEL, SPITS BACK (RUINING A GOOD WAX JOB), AND IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT TO FILL IN COLD WEATHER DUE TO HAVING TO SPOON FEED GASOLINE INTO THE TANK. I STARTED COMPLAINING 6 YEARS AGO WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW, BUT THE DEALER AND FORD BOTH SAY IT'S NOT A PROBLEM - THAT THIS IS JUST CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS CAR. THE NEWER FUEL TANK WAS INSTALLED, BUT DID NOT HELP THE SITUATION. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NEW FORD BECAUSE OF THE GIVE-A CR#&*P ATTITUDE OF BOTH DEALER AND COMPANY! THIS IS A SAFETY AND EPA ISSUE BECAUSE I NORMALLY LEAVE RAW GASOLINE ON THE PARKING LOT OF THE SERVICE STATION. I HAVE ACCIDENTALLY STEPPED IN THE SPILLED GAS AND DRAGGED IT ONTO MY CARPETS. THIS CAR STILL HAS UNDER 24,000 MILES ON IT, AND I AM SICK OF IT. *TR
MANY 2005 AND NEWER FORD MUSTANGS ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK. IT IS VERY SLOW TO FILL, OFTEN TAKING MORE THAN 20 MINUTES TO COMPLETELY FILL. YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY DISPENSE THE FUEL INTO THE TANK, AS EVEN THE FIRST DETENT ON THE HANDLE FROM THE PUMP CAUSES THE PUMP TO AUTO SHUT OFF. MANY TIMES THE TANK WILL OVERFLOW, SPILLING FUEL ONTO THE GROUND, BECAUSE THERE IS NO AUTO SHUT OFF WHEN TRICKLING FUEL INTO THE TANK. I HAVE HAD MY GAS TANK REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. FORD SAYS THAT THIS IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR, AND THEY ARE NOT GOING TO FIX MY PROBLEM. OTHER MUSTANG OWNERS HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR. WITH THOUSANDS OF 2005 AND NEWER FORD MUSTANGS ON THE ROAD, THIS CAN BE A POTENTIAL EPA ISSUE WITH ALL THE SPILLED FUEL. NOT ONLY IS THIS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE FOR ALL MUSTANG OWNERS, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR ANY CAR TO NOT TAKE FUEL. MANY OWNERS HAVE RESORTED TO TURNING THE NOZZLE UPSIDE DOWN TO TRY AND TRICK THE FUEL TANK, SO IT WILL ACCEPT THE FUEL. I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM EVERY WEEK WHEN I REFUEL. WITH TEMPERATURES BELOW ZERO AND STRONG WIND GUSTS, IT IS DANGEROUS TO STAND OUTSIDE AND MONITOR THE GAS PUMP. *NM
PROBLEN 1: WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP, MAYBE 5 MPH OR SO, THEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE RPM'S INCREASE AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL, THEN JUMPS INTO GEAR CAUSING A SUDDEN JERK FORWARD. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED AND CONFIRMED BY FORD DEALERSHIP. PROBLEM 2: STARTED VEHICLE, WITH FOOT ON BRAKE PUT IN REVERSE AND HEARD A STRANGE NOISE AND BLUE SMOKE OUTSIDE PASSENGER WINDOW. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS "BURNING RUBBER" PULLED SHIFT LEAVER BACK TO NUETRAL AND ENGINE RPM NORMAL. POSSIBLY RELATED TO THE PROBLEM ABOVE OR I COULD AHAVE HAD MY FOOR ON BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME BUT CAN NOT THAT EASILY.
CLUNKING NOISE IN FRONT END WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER 2 TIMES, DEALER STATED FORD ENGEENER IS LOOKING INTO THIS. PART SHOULD BE AVALABLE IN 30 DAYS. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NOT RECEIVE FUEL. IT WOULD EJECT FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY. SECONDLY, THE DEALER ADDED THAT THE SPLIT FUEL TANKS HAVE SMALLER HOSES, WHICH MAY CAUSE AN INADEQUATE INTAKE OF FUEL IN THE FUEL LINES. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,988. UPDATED 10-29-08 *BF UPDATED 10/30/08. *JB
PROBLEMS WITH MY 2005 MUSTANG GT TAKEN POSSESION OF JAN. 2005: 1) 500 SHAKER SYSTEM, SKIPPED CDS CONSTANTLY....REPLACED 2) FOG LIGHT FAILED TO OPERATE...REPAIRED 3) NOISE IN FRONT END WHILE TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS...REPAIRED 4) HEAT/AC VENTS ARE NOT IN SYNC..AIR DOES NOT EXIT PROPER VENT SELECTED...NOT FIXED AS OF YET...HEAT IS FELT FROM UNDER DASH EVEN WHEN OFF 5) AFTER CAR WARMS TO DRIVING TEMPERATURE, THERE IS A THUMPING NOISE HEARD IN ENGINE, VERY PROMINENT IN INTERIOR...DEALER IS WORKING ON PROBLEM, EVEN HAD A FORD ENGINEER LISTEN TO IT...STILL UNSOLVED... 6) "GOD, WHAT NEXT?"
TAKATA RECALL. PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT AVAILABLE AT TWO SERVICE CENTERS NEAREST US.
DT: 2005, FORD, MUSTANG. CONSUMER CANNOT READ INSTRUMENT ON A SUNNY DAY WITH SUN GLASSES. CONSUMER SAYS DEALER KNOWS ABOUT PROBLEM, BUT HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. INSTRUMENTS\ PANEL IS ENCLOSED IN A DEEP TUBE TYPE PANEL, AND BECAUSE OF THIS CANNOT GET ENOUGH LIGHT TO BE VISIBLE. *AK
AT 100 MILES ENGINE DEVELOPED TICKING NOISE IN ENGINE, AFTER 2 DEALERS, 1 FORD REP DEALER DIAGNOSTIC DETRERMINED LIFTERS BAD,HAD TO REPLACE LIFTERS.ENGINE HAD 5600 MILES ON IT B4 THEY DETERMINED PROBLEM
TAKATA AIRBAG
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR MY PASSENGER AIR BAG IN JULY 1916. IT IS NOW JUNE 2017 AND REPLACEMENT PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THIS DELAY IN REPLACEMENT PART IS TOTALLY ACCEPTABLE, ESPECIALLY FOR A CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEM.
2005 FORD MUSTANG WITH VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES THAT HE RECEIVED A LETTER TO HAVE THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMED FREE OF CHARGE. HIS VEHICLE IS IN THE NETHERLANDS IS THERE A WAY TO GET IT FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. *KB
