Ford did issue a recall for several issues for my car, including but not limited to, problems when filling gas tank with evaporative purge system as well as cavitation of the fuel pump in high heat conditions, the doors not closing all the way or handles remaining open( not flush with rest of door) when door is shut, driver's side door trim/bezel around power window switch making buzzing sounds when stereo is in use, as well as ticking sounds coming from motor during operation and various creaks and sounds from front suspension when cornering and going over uneven terrain, and the transmission, the 5r55s, has the known hard shift into gear caused by bad servo. I have reached out to the dealers in my area regarding these issues and even though my car is the correct model and year for the service recall bulletins and has the exact issues described there in, I am told that the vin on my car is not covered even though it is clearly suffering from equipment that exhibits all the same problems listed in the recall. I feel the responsibility to perform and pay for these repairs should fall on the manufacturer, not i, the customer.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR AND GEAR RATIO WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BACK HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR UNLESS IT WAS SHIFTED INTO LOW GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER ABLE TO SHIFT INTO HIGHER GEARS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,283.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SWITCH GEARS, THE CLUTCH PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND A CRUNCH SOUND WAS HEARD. THE CLUTCH PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS SWITCHED TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND A PIECE OF PLASTIC WAS FOUND FRACTURED INTO TWO PARTS ON THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE UNDER THE CLUTCH PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 190,000.
SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER NEEDLE DOES NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT MOVE HALF THE TIME FROM RESTING POSITION AND THE TACHOMETER WILL ROTATE ALL THE WAY AROUND AND STAY WHERE IT IS WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. THE BATTERY, OIL, AND TEMP NEEDLES DO NOT MOVE FROM OFF POSITION HALF THE TIME. TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY AND SHIFTS HARDER GOING FROM SECOND TO THIRD. *TR
IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC, STEPPED ON GAS TO ACCELERATE, CAR WOULD NOT GO. KEPT GIVING GAS WOULD FINALLY RESPOND. DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES IN ONE DAY. NEXT TIME WE TRIED TO DRIVE IT "ENGINE SAFE MODE" LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. THROUGH RESEARCH AND TALKING TO OTHERS DETERMINED THAT IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY (DRIVE BY WIRE) A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH SOME FORD VEHICLES. TALKED TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE SERVICE PERSON WE SPOKE TO TOLD US IT WOULD BE COVERED BY FORD'S EXTENDED WARRANTY IN RESPONSE TO CSP 13N03. TOOK THE CAR IN TODAY FOR APPOINTMENT AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THAT EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03 DID NOT PERTAIN TO A MUSTANG. DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT TO US THAT OUR CAR WOULD NOT BE COVERED WHEN RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT MUSTANG'S HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME "DRIVE BY WIRE" SYSTEM. WE ARE LEFT BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR OVER $500 IN COSTS FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING INTO LOW GEAR. DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE AFTER STOPPING. SOUNDS AS IF IT IS STUCK IN A GEAR. HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE AND FORD JUST CLAIMS IT ISN'T THEIR PROBLEM. ALSO, ALL GAUGES QUIT WORKING AT APPROX 70,000 MILES. FUEL SYSTEM IS TERRIBLE. WILL NOT PUMP GAS PAST HALF A TANK AND SPITS GAS BACK OUT WHILE PUMPING LIKE ITS FULL. CAUSES PUMP TO CONSTANTLY SHUT OFF. ISSUE 1 BACK WHEN I HAD LIKE 30K SOMETHING BRAKE CABLES FREEZE. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AND TOLD THEM BUT THEY HAD TO BILL ME $120 TO CHECK IT OUT AND ANOTHER $500 BUT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM ISSUE 2 FOUND OUT ABOUT THE FLOODING WHEN THE DRAIN PLUG CLOGGED UP AT PASSENGER SIDE ISSUE 3 ALTERNATOR WENT BAD AS WELL AS THE BATTERY ISSUE 4 VEHICLE STARTED IDLE UP AND DOWN ISSUE 5 CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AND I GOT 5 CHECK CODES ANOTHER ISSUE WAS I WAS DRIVING PULLED UP TO A STOP LIGHT STARTING TO MOVE AGAIN PUT IT IN 1ST GEAR AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T TAKE SAME TIME IT TOOK LIKE 3-4 SECOND BEFORE I MOVED OUT. I THEN SMELL SOMETHING BURNING LIKE BRAKE PAD SHREDDING ABS SENSORS IDLE SPEED AND OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON SO I DIDN'T GET HIT FROM BEHIND OR CAUSE A DANGEROUS ACCIDENT TO THE OTHER MOTORISTS. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, LEFT THE HAZARDS ON AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE STARTING IT UP AGAIN. IT STARTED THANKFULLY AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT SAFELY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. EVENTUALLY SOMEONE WAS ABLE TO COME AND HELP ME GET MY CAR HOME. WE BELIEVE THAT THE INCIDENT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY, AND THROTTLE BODY SENSOR. FORD SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS PROBLEM AND PAY FOR THEIR FAULTY PARTS. THIS CAR IS A 2005 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE WITH A V6 ENGINE. *TR
2005 MUSTANG HAD ROUTINE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUSH DONE AT 46K MILES, PRIOR TO SERVICE NO LEAKS, ONLY COMPLAINTS OF NOISY TRANSMISSION. NOW TRANSMISSION LEAKS, NOTICED SOME OIL AT A FEW HUNDREDS WIPED IT CLEAN THINKING IT WAS RESIDUE FROM THE FLUSH. AT 50K CHECKED AGAIN AND LEAK IN WORSE AND TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP (JONES FORD, N. CHARLESTON, SC). DEALER REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR OF THE LEAK, STATING LEAK WAS NOT CAUSED BY ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THEY PERFORMED, ALTHOUGH STATES THEY DO THESE ROUTINELY AND OCCASIONALLY CARS COME BACK LEAKING FROM THE PROCEDURE. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CRC AND THEY STATED IT IS A DEALERSHIP SERVICE ISSUE. DEALERSHIP SAYS IT'S NOT. YET I'M OUT TO PAY FOR A REPAIR BILL CA. BETWEEN $700 AND $1000 DEPENDING ON DAMAGE DONE. *TR
2005 FORD MUSTANG GT CONVERTIBLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THAT WHEN ACCELERATING WILL SPORADICALLY SHIFTS FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR WITH A EXTREMELY ROUGH GEAR CHANGE. THE ROUGH GEAR CHANGE JERKS THE CAR FORWARD WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO STRAIN THE PASSENGER NECKS AND ACCELERATES THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY WHICH CAN EASILY LEAD TO A FRONTAL CRASH. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 FORD MUSTANG WITH 18000 MILES ON IT. A WEEK BEFORE THE 18,000 MILE SERVICE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT CODES P-2004, P-2005 WERE PRESENT AND A TSB FROM FORD, # 06-7-10 WERE PRESENT. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT IS KNOWN BY FORD, BUT UNLESS YOU ARE UNDER WARRANTY OR HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, FORD WILL NOT HELP. THE PROBLEM IS THE MOTION CONTROL VALVES AND THROTTLE LINKAGE. THE LINKAGE CAN BECOME DAMAGED AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE ACCELERATION OR FOR THE ACCELERATOR TO GET STUCK DURING ACCELERATION AND TO FAIL TO STOP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROL. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT I COULD OF DONE TO PREVENT IT AS IT IS BUILT AND SOLD BY FORD MOTOR CORPORATION. I BELIEVE THAT FORD IS NEGLIGENT IN THIS AS THEY ARE AWARE, AND WILL NOT REPAIR IT UNLESS IT IS UNDER WARRANTY OR THE OWNER WANTS TO COUGH UP A COUPLE OF THOUSAND DOLLARS OF THEIR OWN MONEY FOR THE REPAIR. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2005 MODEL MUSTANG GT FROM JIM SKINNER HONDA IN DOTHAN ALABAMA. THE VEHICLE HAS A SIGNIFICANT WATER LEAK INTO THE PASSENGER FLOORBOARD AND INTO THE SMART JUNCTION BOX AREA. THE WATER PENETRATES INTO THE WIRING HARNESSES AND BOX ITSELF. BEING THAT MOST OPERATIONS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED IT IS MY OPINION (MECHANIC) THAT WATER INTRUSION INTO THIS AREA COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE FAILURE AND HAS CAUSED LIGHTING MALFUNCTIONS ON THE TAILLIGHTS OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN RAINING THE VEHICLE TYPICALLY EXPERIENCES ELECTRICAL GHOSTS OF VARIOUS SORTS. ALSO THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START DURING SOME HEAVY WATER INTRUSION INSTANTS. BUT GIVEN TIME THIS PROBLEM CAN AND WILL LEAD TO A FIRE OR A ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION CAUSING A CRASH AND/OR DEATH. *TR
AT 60000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION FAILED. IT WAS LEAKING INTERNALLY FROM THE BELL HOUSING TO THE TRANSMISSION. THIS CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO GET HOT. THERE WERE NOT OUTWARD SIGNS OF PROBLEMS. NO EXTERNAL LEAKS OR ANY SENSORS WARNING ME. SINCE I COULD NOT AFFORD THE EXORBITANT EXTENDED WARRANTY, I HAD TO PAY OVER $3000 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I THINK THIS IS UNFAIR TO THE CONSUMER. MY CAR IS ONLY HALF WAY PAID OFF AND I HAVE HEARD SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME OF OTHER CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM A 43 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND NOT A TEENAGER HOT RODDING A CAR. WHILE BACKING FROM MY GARAGE, I PUT THE SHIFTER INTO REVERSE. THE CAR WILL PAUSE AND THEN A SUDDEN JERK INTO REVERSE. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS RECENTLY FLUSHED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP PRIOR TO THE START OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO IN SECOND GEAR. I MADE IT TO MY MOM'S BUSINESS AND HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP AFTER TALKING TO A FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. EVERY TRANSMISSION PLACE I TALKED TO SAID THAT THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAILING IN ALL OF THE FORD VEHICLES THAT HAVE THEM BETWEEN 60,000 AND 90,000 MILES. FORD REFUSES TO FIX OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE I DIDN'T BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT IS GOING TO COST ME SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPLACE THIS TRANSMISSION. THERE IS A DEFECT IN THESE TRANSMISSIONS AND ALL OF THEM SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FORD HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COSTS. MY CAR ISN'T FIXED YET BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO DO SO. I HAVE A 3 AND A HALF YEAR OLD MUSTANG I CANT DRIVE THAT I AM PAYING FOR. *TR
2005 FORD MUSTANG ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. HE STATES THAT THE RPM'S WOULD BE UP TO 1500. HE STATES THAT SINCE THEN, NOW IT ACCELERATES UP TO 2500 RPM'S. *KB A FLIGHT RECORDER WAS INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE. THE FLIGHT RECORDER CAPTURED THE PROBLEM THE CONSUMER WAS REFERRING TO. THE FLIGHT RECORDER WAS THEN SENT TO FORD ENGINEERING AND THEY STATED THE COMPUTER WAS DEMANDING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD CLUNK WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS LET OUT, ESPECIALLY IN LOWER GEARS. *JB
WHEN STOPPED SUDDENLY THE CAR WILL REMAIN IDLE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS BEFORE IT WILL KICK BACK INTO GEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, CAR WILL ROLL BACKWARDS IN DRIVE. IF YOU TRY TO PRESS THE GAS TO FORCE THE CAR TO MOVE IT WILL STALL COMPLETELY. CAR HAS BEEN DOING IT SINCE 2007. FORD DEALERSHIP COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. CAR CURRENTLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT. ALSO GAS, TEMP AND SPEEDOMETER GAUGES HAVE STARTED GOING CRAZY THE LAST THREE WEEKS. *TR
AFTER STARTING THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION STICKS AND WILL NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. IT WILL GO INTO 1ST - 5TH BUT WON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT GOING INTO REVERSE. AFTER TALKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID ITS PROBABLY USER ERROR. THEY SAID THAT THE DRIVER PROBABLY JUST ISN'T PUSHING THE CLUTCH IN ALL THEY WAY. WELL, WITH ME BEING THE DRIVER, I KNOW THAT THE CLUTCH DOESN'T GO DOWN ANY FARTHER. *JB
