The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact indicated that when the accelerator pedal was slightly depressed the vehicle decelerated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the clutch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that an extended service for the failure was issued but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 17,000.
THERE'S A CHRONIC HESITATION WHEN YOU PUSH THE ACCELERATOR FROM A YIELD/MERGE TYPE SITUATION AT LOW-SPEED. IT'S NOT EVERY TIME BUT MANY TIMES. TODAY I WAS GOING AROUND A CAR THAT WAS SITTING IN THE ROAD WITH IT'S FLASHERS ON (IE DOUBLE PARKED) AND THERE WAS A CAR IN THE OTHER LANE ON THE 2-LANE ONE-WAY STREET AND I STEPPED ON THE PEDDLE TO ACCELERATE SLIGHTLY AND IT TOTALLY CHOKED AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GET HIT IN THE REAR AND THEN IT KICKED IN. I NOTED THIS WAY BACK WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND AT THAT TIME I THOUGHT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GEARING WHICH IT STILL COULD. I TOLD SERVICE ABOUT THE ISSUE AND I EVEN TOOK THEM FOR A DRIVE BUT OF COURSE THAT TIME IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. I'VE TRIED OVER YEARS TO ID THE PROBLEM MORE BUT WHILE I CAN SEE SOMEWHAT OF A PATTERN IT'S NOT GUARANTEED. ALTHOUGH ONE OF THE MOST LIKELY SITUATIONS IS GOING UP A HILL, TURNING SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT WHILE SLOWING FOR A YIELD SIGN BUT NOT STOPPING AND THEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR ONLY TO GET A HICCUP OR CHOKE OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT. THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES FILLING THE TANK BECAUSE OF A LACK OF ENOUGH SPACE FOR FUEL TO REPLACE AIR CAUSING THE SELF-SHUTOFF OF THE PUMP TO KICK-IN NOT FILLING YOUR TANK. I RAISE THIS UP AS THIS COULD BE SOME TYPE OF PRESSURIZATION CONSISTENCY. THERE'S ALSO THE AGGRESSIVE ACCELERATOR WHERE YOU PUSH IT A TINY BIT AND IT WANTS TO TAKE OFF ENOUGH TO SQUEAL THE TIRES SOMETIMES.
THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO OVERDRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY SO I PULLED OVER AND THEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE MANUALLY SWITCHED FROM GEAR TO GEAR AND THEN DROVE FINE. THE THE VEHICLE STARTS DOING THE SAME THING AFTER WARMING UP. NOW REVERSE AND 3RD ARE OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARM. IVE HAD SENSORS BANDS AND OTHER THINGS REPLACED. EVERYTHING SHORT OF A NEW TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED. NOW I CANT FIND A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP THAT WILL REBUILD IT DUE TO SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS THEY DO NOT WANT TO PUT A WARRANTY ON IT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. SOMETHING IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE OR LICENSED TECHNICIANS WOULD REPAIR THEM AND WOULDNT CARE TO OFFER A WARRANTY. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS OFF AND ON SINCE 2017. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THAT ALL THE COMPLAINTS HAVE NOT RESULTED IN A RECALL.
FORD OEM PART NO.: 8R3Z-7210-C - SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AUTOMATIC CONSOLE SHIFTIER BLIND MAY BIND UP IN THE TRACK OR BREAK COMPLETELY LIKE MINE DID. THIS CAN CAUSE DIFFICULTY IN THE SHIFTER GOING IN TO GEARS OR PARK, OR SHOW PROPER P R N D 3 2 1 SELECTION ON SELECTOR. A BROKEN BLIND CAN ALLOW THINGS TO FALL DOWN INTO THE GEAR SECTOR, THAT COULD CAUSE GEAR SELECTION OR PARK NOT TO WORK PROPERLY. STATIONARY OR MOVING I DON'T SEE HOW THIS IS A THIS IS A UNSAFE CONDITION OF THE PART. THE WHOLE PART HAS TO BE REPLACED AT $283 + LABOR UNKNOWN AS THEY DO NOT SELL REPLACEMENT REBUILD PARTS TO FIX THE AUTOMATIC SHIFTER. AFTER FEWER THAN 25,000 MILES MY CLUTCH BEGAN SLIPPING SEVERLY
THE CLUTCH IS SLIPPING AT ONLY 10,000 MILES, THE CAR CANT EVEN MAKE IT UP A GENTLE GRADE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON ! IT CANNOT MAINTAIN SPEED IT CANT HANDLE WHEN YOU GIVE GAS TO ACCELERATE TO FREEWAY SPEED WHEN ENTERING THE ONRAMP TO FREEWAY. THIS HAS TO BE THE SLOWEST SHELBY ON THE ROAD.

THE VEHICLE WHILE SHIFTING GEARS IS IN 3RD GEAR IS CHANGING RPM'S. THE RPM'S ARE MOVING VASTLY FROM LOWER END TO TOP END. THE CAR HAS VERY LOW MILES AND RECENTLY PURCHASED 7 MONTHS AGO AND ONLY PLACED 3000 MILES SINCE PURCHASE. THE WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT COVER THE PROBLEM. I REACHED OUT TO FORD BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME FORUMS THAT STATE THIS PART THAT IS MAKING CAR DO THIS IS THE CLUTCH AND GIVES OUT VERY EARLY AFTER MANUFACTURING OF THE CAR, THEY SAID THEY ARE UNABLE TO HELP ME BUT IF THERE IS A RECALL THEY WILL LET US KNOW. AFFECTED PARTS: CLUTCH. THE CLUTCH HAS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT (SLIPPING) THREE TIMES IN 44,571 MILES. FIRST PROBLEM OCCURRED AT APPROX. 10,000 MILES (REPLACED BY FORD UNDER WARRANTY). THE SECOND PROBLEM OCCURRED AT APPROX. 24,000 MILES (REPLACED BY FORD UNDER WARRANTY). THE THIRD PROBLEM OCCURRED AT 44,571 MILES AND FORD IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING, THE FORD PREMIUM CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY REFUSES TO HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING FOR QUITE AWHILE. I WAS RESEARCHING A LUNGE PROBLEM, DISCOVERED IT IS FREQUENTLY HAPPENING TO OTHERS. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM GOING A VERY SLOW SPEED. IT HAS HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC MANY TIMES WHICH IS SCARY, IN MY HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS, WE HAVE SPEED BUMPS SO YOU MUST DRIVE SLOWLY AND MAKING TURNS. IT JUST IMMEDIATELY ALL SHUTS DOWN AND THE CAR STOPS. I ACTUALLY TRY TO AVOID TRAFFIC ON FREEWAY BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED SO MANY TIMES. I HAVE DISCUSSED, IN THE PAST, THIS WITH MY MECHANIC VARIOUS TIMES AND MADE SURE EVERYTHING IN MY CAR IS FINE. I HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING AND MY CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING EASTBOUND ON THE 91 FREEWAY IN CALIFORNIA. I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE ACCELERATOR REVVED UP AND INCREASED MY SPEED TO OVER 90 MILES PER HOUR WHICH I HAD NO CONTROL OF. I REALIZED THAT THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK AND PUT MY CAR INTO NEUTRAL. I WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY WITH THE HELP OF A DIRT FIELD WITHOUT DOING THIS I WOULD HAVE CRASHED AND EITHER BEEN KILLED OR I WOULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATION ABOUT MY PROBLEM AND THEY INSISTED THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE HEARD OF A MUSTANG DOING THIS. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND APPARENTLY THIS IS HAPPENING ALOT WITH THE MUSTANG. MY CAR HAS ONLY 33,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
ACCELERATOR STUCK WHEN ENTERING RAMP OFF HIGHWAY. MOTOR WAS RACING. TRIED TO BRAKE BUT BRAKES WERE FIGHTING AGAINST ENGINE. WHEN I START MY CAR IN THE MORNING, AND IT IS OVERCAST OUT OR HAS JUST RAINED, MY SHIFTER WILL NOT GO INTO FIRST OR REVERSE. IT TAKES A FEW MINUTES UNTIL I CAN FORCE WITH ALL MY STRENGTH THE KNOB INTO GEAR. I CALLED THEM A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THEY CLOSED AND THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG, SO I INSISTED TO LEAVE IT AND HAVE THEM TRY IT IN THE MORNING. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED RIGHT BEFORE THEY CLOSED AGAIN AND THEY INFORMED ME EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE. WHEN I WENT TO PICK IT UP, I NOTICED THEY HAD NOT PUT EVEN A MILE ON MY CAR AFTER CHECKING THE MILAGE. I DROVE HOME AND ON THE WAY HOME IT WAS ACTING UP VERY BAD SO I WENT BACK AND TOLD THEM. THE GUY THAT RUNS THE COUNTER WENT ON A RIDE WITH ME AND I SHOWED HIM WHEN IT HAPPENED AND HE SAID HE THINKS I'M PROBABLY NOT PUSHING THE CLUTCH DOWN ALL THE WAY AND BASICALLY BLEW IT OFF. I WAS A LITTLE INSULTED BY HIS ASSUMPTION OF MY INCOMPETENCE, SO I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE ABOUT MY ISSUE AND THEY SAID I SHOULD POSSIBLY TRY ANOTHER DEALER. A WEEK LATER WHEN I WAS GETTING MY OIL CHANGED AT A SHOP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY WATER PUMP HAD A LARGE LEAK. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALER IN SAN BERNARDINO, WHERE THEY FIXED THE LEAK, BUT ONCE AGAIN FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH MY SHIFTER, AND ALSO FOUND THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. I WENT TO A DEALER IN SAN DIEGO WHEN MY CAR WAS STILL ACTING UP BAD, AND THEY FIXED MY TRANSMISSION LEAK, WHICH TOOK 10 DAYS, BUT SAID MY SHIFTER WAS WORKING COMPLETELY FINE.

I DRIVE A 2007 FORD MUSTANG. AT 7:00 AM ON MY WAY TO WORK MY CAR DECIDED TO TURN INTO CHRISTIENE. : -). THE THROTTLE BODY OR THE ACCELERATOR DECIDED TO STICK. THE RPM'S WERE RACING. I BURNT UP THE BACK BRAKE PADS AND THE ROTORS, OF TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO SLOW DOWN. I EVEN TRIED GEARING THE MUSTANG DOWN. WHEN I FINALLY GOT TO A SAFE SPOT, I THEN TURN OFF THE IGNITION. I STARTED IT UP TO IF SITTING AND RESETTING THE COMPUTER WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. I STARTED THE CAR THREE TIMES AND I GOT THE SAME RESPONSE. AFTER SETTING FOR A HOUR AND A HALF I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN. IT WAS FINE. I DID IMMED. TOOK IT TO A NEAR BY FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM HOOK IT TO A COMPUTER. THEY SAID, "IT SHOW WERE THE RPM WERE RACING, BUT THERE WAS ISSUE SHOWING UP." THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THIS ISSUE TO HAPPEN AGAIN WHILE THEY HAD IT AND THAT THEY COULD NOT PROMISE ME THAT THIS ISSUE WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE SPOKEN TO A CO-WORKER AND HE HAS A 2006 MUSTANG AND HE SAID THAT HIS ACCELERATOR DONE THE SAME TO HIM. I DRIVE FOR A LIVING (A SCHOOL BUS) AND I SELDOM GET SCARED, BUT AFTER THAT MORNING I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY MUSTANG AND NEVER HAD SOMETHING TO SCARE ME AS BAD. I BELIEVE WITH OUT MY DRIVING SKILLS I COULD HAVE HAD A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. *TR
06/30/09 7973 MILES 15 MONTHS OLD BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER FOR LEAK IN MANUAL TRANSMISSION AT DRIVE SHAFT. SEAL CHANGED. BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER 02/26/13 SAME LEAK, SEAL CHANGED. CAR TO DEALER 02/19/14 SAME LEAK, CHANGE SEAL AND FLANGE. FLANGE DEFECTIVE, UNABLE TO EXCEED 30-35 MPH. BACK TO DEALER. TWO MORE FLANGES INSTALLED AND FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. PICKED UP 02/28/14. CAR TO DEALER 02/12/15 NOW OUT OF WARRANTY NEEDS SEAL,FLANGE AND NOW A DRIVE SHAFT, COST1100 DOLLARS. FEEL IF THIS IS THE REAL PROBLEM CAUSING LEAK DEALER MISDIAGNOSED FOR TOO LONG. WHILE EXECUTING A LEFT TURN ACROSS A SIX-LANE INTERSECTION, I NOTICED ANOTHER VEHICLE APPROACHING THE LEFT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF AT LEAST DOUBLE THE LIMIT. I ACCELERATED HARD TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. THE THROTTLE "STUCK" FOR AN ESTIMATED TWO TO THREE SECONDS WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL AND IMPACT WITH A FOOT HIGH CURB AT THE FAR SIDE OF THE INTERSECTION. DAMAGE TO MY CAR WAS OVER $8,000.00. THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPEAT EPISODES TO THIS DATE. *TR
