TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD RANGER. WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO SMELL AN UNUSUAL BURNING ODOR. THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED MOMENTS AFTER NOTICING THE ODOR. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED AT LEAST THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE HEADLIGHT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,318.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE CONTACT OBSERVED AN UNUSUAL CLUNKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAMES WERE RUSTED AND COULD NOT BE REPLACED DUE TO THE SEVERITY OF THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000.
IN THE 2000 RANGER,THEY PUT A PLASTIC FITTING THE SLIDES ON TO THE FUEL PUMP HELD ON WITH A CLIP,THE OTHER END IS A HOSE CONNECTS ALSO WITH A CLIP,THIS IS A VERT SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM,ITS LEAKING SO BAD,I FEEL LIKE A BOMB,PRAYING NOBODY THROWS OUT A LIT CIGARETTE,THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN STAINLESS STEEL OR BRASS,BUT TO CUT COST FORD PUTS A 50 CENT PLASTIC PIECE,THEY SHOULD BE FINE OR SOMETHING, I'M ON DISABILITY,WENT OVER A YEAR WITH NO MONEY COMING IN,THEY WANT 197.00 FOR THIS 50 CENT PIECE,THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD CHECK INTO THIS,AGAIN I GET SCREWED,I CANT AFFORD TO FIX IT,SO WHEN IT BLOWS,BI HOPE MY WIFE IS NOT WITH ME AND NO OTHER CARS ARE CLOSE,TRUST ME ITS GOING TO HAPPEN.I WROTE FORD AND THEY SAY ITS OUT OF WARRANTY,WHAT DO I DOMITS HARD ENOUGH TO PAY THE MONTHLY PAYMENT. I WAS EAST BOUND DOING 50 MPH WHEN A WEST BOUND CHEVY MADE A LEFT TURN INTO MY LANE, I PUSHED BRAKES TURNED RIGHT IMPACTING THE CHEVY HEAD ON SPINNING IT 180 DEGREES AND BACK INTO THE WEST BOUND LANE. BOTH THE CHEVY'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND IT BROKE IT'S WIND- SHIELD. THE AIR BAGS IN MY TRUCK FAILED TO DEPLOY; I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE RANGER. MY TRUCK AS WELL AS THE CHEVY WERE TOTALED; $8,988. TO FIX MY RANGER. MY WIFE SUFFERED A BROKEN LEFT WRIST AND SHE BROKE A TITANIUM ROD IN HER BACK. SHE HAD TO UNDERGO A SIX HOUR SURGERY TO REMOVE THE BROKEN RODS PARTS IN HER LOWER BACK AND THE SURGEON HAD TO ADD MORE RODS IN HER UPPER BACK TO STABILIZE TWO VERTEBRAE , WHICH WERE DAMAGED IN THE CRASH. I SEND FORD THE ACCIDENT REPORT, BODY SHOP ESTIMATE AND 20+ PICTURES OF THE TRUCK AND ACCIDENT SCENE. FORD SAID THE IMPACT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO SET OFF THE AIR BAGS. BOTH FENDERS WERE BUCKLED, RADIATOR WAS PUSHED INTO THE FAN, FRAME WAS BENT, IT TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES TO OPEN THE PASS. SIDE DOOR TO GET MY WIFE OUT OF THE TRUCK. BUMPER, GRILLE AND HEADLIGHTS WERE TOTALED. FORD OFFERED TO CHECK THE RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE AND REPORT THEIR OWN LAB FINDINGS TO ME, I FELT THIS WAS LIKE HIRING THE FOX TO GUARD MY HEN HOUSE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEND YOU ALL PHOTOS, THE ACCIDENT REPORT, BODY SHOP ESTIMATE AS WELL AS THE BEFORE AND AFTER X-RAYS OF MY WIFE'S BACK. MY SON WORKED AT A FORD DEALER FOR 18 YEARS AS A MECHANIC AND TOLD ASK FORD WHAT WENT WRONG IN THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. I HOPE YOU'LL GET BACK TO ME I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY THE BAGS FAILED. *TR
THE FRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH ON THE REAR AREA OF THE TRUCK AND HAS BECOME DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING AT 30 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLLY SHUT OFF FOLLOWED BY ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS APPEARING ON THE DASHBOARD.THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT HAD THE FUEL PUMP SWITCH REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 68315.
MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF RUST ON FRAME, FRONT AND REAR BUMPER, LEAF SPRING SHACKLE BRACKETS, BRACKET HOLDING BODY TO FRAME., AND RADIATOR SUPPORT.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS CRACKED NEAR THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO THE DEFECT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS FAMILIAR WITH SEVERAL IDENTICAL FAILURES FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TALKED TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT BE OF ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 64,000.
FRAME OF TRUCK RUSTED IN TWO BEHIND CAB ITEM NOT REPLACEABLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 FORD RANGER,THE SENDING UNIT ON THE FUEL LINE IS MADE OF PLASTIC,THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS PART OF THE VEHICLE. IT SHOULD BE STAINLESS STEEL OR BRASS, I CANT DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE NOT ONLY IS MY LIFE IN DANGER BUT ALSO CARS AROUND ME,THIS IS NOT A DRIP IT GUSHES OUT .THEY SAY TO CUT COST BUT THEY RAISE THE PRICE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS EACH YEAR. PLEASE DON'T SAY ITS JUST MY VEHICLE, I CALLED JUNK YARDS IN MARYLAND,VIRGINIA,DELAWARE AND PENNSYLVANIA,THEY CANT BE FOUND. NOTICED EXCESSIVE RUST THROUGH ON FRAME REAR AT SPRING HANGER. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 FORD RANGER. FOR THE LAST YEAR, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH VARIOUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE DOOR SENSORS FAILING, INTERIOR LIGHTS NOT WORKING OR NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH, AND ANTI-THEFT LIGHT FLASHING (I DO NOT HAVE AN ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, JUST A FLASHING RED LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD). THEN A MONTH AGO, I CAME TO A STOP SIGN, STOPPED, AND TURNED ON THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL. THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT FLASHED ON AND STAYED ON AND THEN TWO PUFFS OF SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. I DROVE A MILE TO MY HOME AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH BUT I DID NOT SEE ANY OTHER EVIDENCE OF A FIRE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERING THAT THE FORD EXPLORER HAD A RECALLED MULTI-SWITCH, LOCATED IN THE STEERING COLUMN, I HAD THE MULTI-SWITCH REPLACED IN MY RANGER. THE DOOR SENSORS STILL DON'T WORK (THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON), BUT ALL THE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES HAVE BEEN RESOLVED AND I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY MORE SMOKE. THIS MONTH'S ISSUE OF CONSUMER REPORTS NOTED A RECALL FOR FORD RANGERS FROM 1995-1997 AND 2001-2003 FOR A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. MY RANGER DOES NOT HAVE CRUISE CONTROL; HOWEVER, ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC THIS RECALL INVOLVES THE SAME MULTI-SWITCH. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT YET BEEN CONTACTED. VEHICLE FIRE 2000 FORD RANGER P/U CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGE SWITCH CAUSED FIRE. VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN GARAGE AT THE TIME 2 PM. *TR
ABS LIGHT (ORANGE) ALWAYS ON, 2000 FORD RANGER. ALSO RECEIVED RECALL FOR CRUISE BUT NOT ABS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN MY TRUCK, WHICH IS A 2000 FORD RANGER, AND THE ENGINE TOTALLY FAILED ON ME WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I NOTICED MY CAM SYNCHRO WAS ALMOST ENTIRELY STRIPPED OF IT'S TEETH. LUCKILY, I WAS STILL IN AN EXIT LANE, SO PULLING OVER TO SAFETY WAS NOT AN ISSUE (THANK GOD, MY POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WERE GONE AT THIS POINT). I HAVE HEARD OF THIS INCIDENT HAPPENING IN MANY OTHER RANGERS AS WELL. HOWEVER, THIS INCIDENT HAS SET ME BACK ON MY DAILY DRIVING VEHICLE, NOW I MUST MAKE NEW TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS TO MY 30-MILE COMMUTE TO WORK. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FAULTY PART, WHICH HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE A MOTOR UNDER SEIZURE. IT IS LOCKED UP. NOW I MUST BUY A NEW MOTOR OR VEHICLE.*TR
I HAVE A 2000 FORD RANGER XLT WITH EXCESSIVE RUST / ROT ON THE FRAME. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRAME ENDS WITH NEW STEEL AS THEY HAD ROTTED AWAY CAUSING THE REAR BUMPER TO FALL OFF THE TRUCK. I ALSO HAD TO BUY AND REPLACE NEW LEAF SPRING MOUNTS BECAUSE THE OLD ONES HAD ROTTED AWAY. I AM NOW WONDERING IF I CAN REPAIR OR REPLACE OTHER SEGMENTS OF THE FRAME BECAUSE THERE IS EXCESSIVE RUST AND ROT IN CERTAIN AREAS. THE MAJORITY OF THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE REAR HALF OF THE FRAME, BOTH SIDES. I DO NOT SEE ANY EXCESSIVE RUST IN THE FORWARD FRAME RAILS. I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISION INVOLVING MULTIPLE IMPACTS (TWO TREES AND THEN A IRON FENCE HEAD ON) I WAS ESTIMATED AS GOING 50 MILES PER HOUR AT TIME OF CRASH WITH OUT BREAKING BY POLICE ON SCENE. BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS TURNED ON. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT HOWEVER I DID SUFFER A NECK INJURY AND HAVE STARTED HAVING HEADACHES 2-3 DAYS AFTER ACCIDENT. TRUCK WAS TOTALED IN ACCIDENT. *TR
MY FRAME IS RUSTED OUT, 110,000, MILES, REPLACED TRANSMISSION, BRAKE LINES, GAS LINES, AND A # OF OTHER THINGS, DUE TO A RUSTED OUT UNDER CARRIAGE, THE MOTOR IS GREAT, THINGS ON THE FRAME ARE BREAKING OFF ALL THE TIME, SO MUCH RUST CANT EVEN SEE A BOLT.
SEAT BELT NOT LATCHING FULLY MOST OF THE TIME AND COMES LOOSE WHILE DRIVING ON A 2000 FORD RANGER. UNLATCHES AFTER PULLING ON THE BELT BY MOVING IN THE SEAT. CONTINUES TO BE ONGOING. *TR
MY FORD RANGER SUPERCAB HAS ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, THE PASSENGER DOOR'S LOCK HAS BEGUN BEING INTERMITTENT ABOUT OPENING WITH THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE TWO DOORS. NOW IT WILL NEITHER OPEN OR CLOSE WITH THE BUTTONS MOST OF THE TIME. RECENTLY, EVEN THE DRIVER;S DOOR LOCK HAS BEGUN THIS SYMPTOM OF NOT OPENING OR CLOSING. MUST USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. VERY INCONVENIENT. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WHERE SOMEONE NEEDED TO ESCAPE THE VEHICLE QUICKLY, SUCH AS A FIRE OR OTHER ACCIDENT, YOU HAVE TO FUMBLE TO TRY AN PULL UP ON THE LOCK BUTTON, STICKING THROUGH THE DOOR LINER. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY THE RIGHT REAR AXLE SHAFT BROKE LEADING TO THE WHEEL COMING OFF OF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE LOSING CONTROL. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS TRUCK HAS FAILED N H STATE INSPECTION FOR FRAME PROBLEMS,FIRST TIME WAS FOR A RUSTED THROUGH CROSS MEMBER WHICH I HAD TO HAVE WELDED,11/17/2009. NOW I GO BACK FOR ANOTHER INSPECTION ON 11/30/2012 AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO REPLACE REAR SHACKLES WHICH I SAY OK,THE REPAIR SHOP CALLS ME AND TELLS ME THE FRAME IS ROTTED THROUGH AND THEY CAN NOT PUT IN THE, FRAME HAS TO BE REPLACED FROM BACK TO ABOUT 4 FEET TO THE FRONT AND AT ANOTHER COST OF 350$ THE LAST COST WAS THE SAME 350$.I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF THIS TRUCK AND THE BODY LOOKS LIKE NEW.THE WELDING SHOP GUY TOLD ME HE HAD TO DO SEVERAL OF THESE REPAIRS TO EVEN 2002 FORD TRUCKS,I CAN NOT SEE THE REASON FOR THIS,THIS IS THE FIRST OF ANY CARS OR TRUCKS I HAVE EVER OWNED THAT HAD FRAME PROBLEMS,CAN YOU HELP RECOUP SOME OR ALL OF MY MONEY ON THIS,I AM DISABLED AND ON A FIXED INCOME AND CAN NOT AFFORD TO THROW MONEY OUT THE WINDOW,THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. AT 56,000 MILES, THIS IS THE THIRD TIME MY TRUCK HAS DEVELOPED ENGINE SPONTANEOUS RACING EVEN WHILE IN GEAR. THIS IS A HAZARDOUS CONDITION WITH POTENTIAL INJURY/FATALITY. OCCURRED AT 22 K MI, 45 K MI, AND NOW AT 56 K MI. WHEN IT OCCURS VEHICLE WANTS TO RACE AHEAD AND CRASH UNLESS TAKEN OUT OF GEAR WHEN THE ENGINES RACES AND SOMETIMES WON'T STOP UNLESS I INTENTIONALLY STALL OR TURN OFF THE ENGINE WHILE IN TRAFFIC. IT IS NOT AN INCIDENT, IT IS ONGOING. I HAVE USED THE DEALER REPAIR SHOP EXCLUSIVELY. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION CONNECTOR AT 22K MI. THEY REFERRED TO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 00-3-5. I, OF COURSE, WOULD LIKE THIS FIXED PERMANENTLY AS IT GRADUALLY RECURS MORE AND MORE OFTEN TO THE POINT OF SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. *TR
TL* -THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD RANGER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INSPECTION STATION. THE TECHNICIAN OBSERVED THAT THE FRAME EXHIBITED MASSIVE HOLES. IN ADDITION, THE FRAME WAS FRACTURED IN TWO. THE REAR VEHICLE BUMPER WAS NOT FASTENED CORRECTLY WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103, 733.
I OWN A 2000 FORD RANGER 4X4. LAST YEAR, I NOTED A LOUD THUMPING FROM THE REAR ON A WASHBOARD ROAD AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH FOR THE CAUSE AND FOUND THAT THE REAR LEAF SPRING SHACKLES HAD COMPLETELY ROTTED OFF AND THE REAR OF THE LEAF SPRINGS WERE RESTING AGAINST THE TRUCKS BED. I TOOK IT TO A FRAME SHOP AND HAD THE SHACKLES REPLACED BUT THE TECHNICIAN MAKE NOTE TO ME THAT THE FRAME HAD A LOT OF SURFACE RUST BUILT UP AND MUCH OF THE METAL FUEL AND BRAKE TUBING WAS HEAVILY CORRODED AND RUSTING. I FIRST NOTICED A SQUEAKING NOISE AND WHILE INVESTIGATING I FOUND THAT MY TRUCKS FRAME IS TOTALLY RUSTED AND HAS CRACKED ON BOTH SIDES AT THE REAR WHEELS. THE TRUCK IS A 2000 FORD RANGER WITH EXCELLENT BODY INTEGRITY AND LITTLE OTHER RUST. BOTH MY MECHANIC AND THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. BOTH SAID THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED OTHERS IF THE FRAME SNAPPED. THE TOW OPERATOR SAID THAT TOYOTA'S HAVING A "SILENT RECALL" OF TRUCKS 1995-2000 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE A TRUCK WITH NO WARRANTY THAT IS UNDRIVEABLE BUT HAS AN OUTSTANDING LOAN AGAINST IT. FORD IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2000 FORD RANGER. I HAVE KEPT THE ALL THE UPKEEPS FOR THIS CAR AND MORE ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALERS INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR THE FORD RANGER TRUCK. IT HAS ABOUT 81000 MILES ON IT. I RECENTLY HAD TO PAY $2300.00 TO THE KEARNY MESA FORD TO FIX MY CAR. I DO HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL ON IT. ONE DAY, I SMELLED ANTIFREEZE. MY HEAT GADGET DID NOT GO OFF. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE TRUCK WAS OVERHEATING, BUT I CHOSE TO BRING IT IN. I THOUGHT IT WAS PROBABLY A LEAK IN A HOSE. IT TURNED OUT THE A HEATING ELEMENT WAS "PROBABLY THE CULPRIT", BUT THEY FOUND THROUGH THEIR COMPUTERS THAT THE ENGINE HAD TO BASICALLY BE REBUILT BECAUSE THE ENGINE HAD OVERHEATED. MY CONCERN WAS THAT NOT ONCE DID MY HEATING GAUGE TELL ME THAT THE TRUCK WAS OVERHEATING. THAT IS DANGEROUS. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS CONNECTED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEM, BUT FOR A HEATING GAUGE TO NOT GO OFF WHEN THERE IS SEVER HEAT GOING ON IN THE ENGINE IS DANGEROUS. I COULD HAVE GOTTEN STRANDED IN A DANGEROUS PLACE OR THE ENGINE MAY HAVE EXPLODED ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE ENORMOUS DAMAGE THAT TOOK PLACE. I THOUGHT THIS NEEDED TO BE REPORTED. FORD COULDN'T TELL ME WHY THE HEATING GAUGE DID NOT WORK. THEY TOLD ME THAT NOW AND THEN EVEN TRUCKS THAT ARE KEPT UP GO WRONG. THAT IS NOT A GOOD ANSWER WHEN THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CONTACT MADE AN ABRUPT STOP AND THE BRAKES FAILED. SHE DROVE HOME AT A LOW SPEED AND, ONCE THERE, SHE NOTICED BRAKE FLUID PUMPING OUT OF THE BRAKE LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MUFFLER SHOP THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD CORRODED THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR BRAKE LINES. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE BECAUSE THE PARTS HAVE NOT YET ARRIVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,170.
2000 FORD RANGER BRAKE LINE FAILURE -- THE RIGHT-REAR BRAKE LINE RUPTURED. THIS IS THE SECOND BRAKE LINE RUPTURE IN A LITTLE OVER 1 YEAR. THE FIRST RUPTURE WAS WITH THE LEFT-REAR BRAKE LINE IN MARCH 2007. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $295.00. THE SECOND RUPTURE OCCURRED ON JULY 2, 2008. THIS REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN PERFORMED AS YET. BOTH RUPTURES OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING AND DURING AN ATTEMPT TO APPLY THE BRAKES. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT SPONGY, AND BOTH THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE DID EVENTUALLY STOP. FORTUNATELY, THERE WHERE NO OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS IN FRONT OF ME. UPON INITIAL INSPECTION, THE BRAKE LINE WAS LEAKING FLUID AND THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER RESERVOIR WAS BELOW HALF FULL. A CLOSER INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH NEAR THE FITTINGS. THIS VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000 MILES AND IS DRIVEN INFREQUENTLY. *TR
THERE IS A LOT OF FRAME RUST ON MY TRUCK. ESPECIALLY WHERE THE FRAME CONNECTS TO THE BED. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH THE REAR SPRING SHACKLE BRACKETS, BOTH BROKE OFF BECAUSE OF RUST. TWICE THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE BRAKE LINE, LUCKILY I SAW THIS WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED AND NOW WHILE I WAS DRIVING WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. THE REAR BUMPERS PAINT HAS PEELED OFF AND THE NOW IS VERY RUSTY AND IT COULD FALL OFF AT ANYTIME. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COST FOR THE DIAGNOSIS WAS OVER $2,000; THEREFORE, IT WOULD NOT BE DONE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THE DEPLOYMENT WAS NOT DUE TO A COLLISION AND THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO INVESTIGATE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS LEFT ARM. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 130,000.
I HAVE A 2000 FORD RANGER XLT EXTENDED CAB 4X4 I FIRST STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ALTERNATOR IT JUST STOPPED WORKING, TOOK TO SHOP AND THE BRUSHES ON IT WAS WORE OUT HAD THE REPLACED AND IT LASTED 2 DAYS AND SAME PROBLEM SO HAD TO BUY A NEW ALTERNATOR AT 300.00 IT LASTED 4 DAYS TOOK IT BACK TO PARTS STORE GOT A REPLACEMENT AND IM STILL USING IT BUT IT STILL ISN'T WORKING AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD GOT STRANDED AT 1230 AM BESIDE ROAD WITH MY DAUGHTER WITH ME THE FIRST TIME, AND WHEN THAT HAPPENED THAT WHEN MY OD LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO THE RIGHT GEARS HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT IT TO GET IT TO MOVE TOOK TO SHOP NOONE COULD FIND THE PROBLEM EVEN PUTTING IT ON THE COMPUTER NO CODES WAS FOUND ENDED UP GETTING STRANDED AGAIN WHEN TRAIN COMPLETELY QUIT PULLING HAD TOWED TO SHOP AND HAD TO BUY ANOTHER TRAIN AT 600.00 AND THAT IS 3 WEEKS PAY FOR US BUT ITS THE ONLY VEHICLE WE HAVE SO HAD TO GET IT FIXED LOOKED TO SEE IF ANY RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS BUT NONE HAVE BUT HAVE SEEN MANY MANY COMPLAINTS I THINK FORD NEED TO LOOKING TO THIS PROBLEM SOON, IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND SOMEONE COULD GET SERIOUSLY HURT. FORD 4.0L ENGINE HEAD GASKET LEAKAGE, CAUSE OVERHEATING OF RINGS, CRACKED HEAD, ONE NEW HEAD, ONE REBUILT, WITHOUT ANY OVER-TEMP INDICATION. I COULD SMELL A SLIGHT ODOR OF BURNED WATER FOR OVER 1 YEAR, WHILE NEVER FINDING A LEAK. THIS EXPENDITURE OF ABOUT $2K DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, NOW I HAVE RELAXED RINGS, POOR, BUT NOT BAD COMPRESSION, AND USE LOTS OF OIL, WHEN I'VE BABIED THIS ENGINE, DONE ALL MY OWN WORK, AND OIL CHANGES, AND HAD LESS THAN 90,000 MILES. THIS LACK OF POWER, THEN SUDDEN DECREASE IN COMPRESSION CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BUCK SEVERELY, POINTING ME IN ALL KINDS OF FUEL AND ELECTRICAL AREAS OF MAINTENANCE.
