THIS IS THE SAME COMPLAINT AS I FOUND ON YOUR SITE UNDER REF: 718274, FILED FEB 3, 2002. TRANSMISSION ISSUES INCLUDE CLUNKING INTO GEAR, HESITATION. I JUST PURCHASED THIS USED, HAD BRAKES, BELTS (4X IN REPAIR!!) AND REAR DRIVE SHAFT REPLACED. DEALER REFUSES TO LISTEN TO ISSUE. FILED COMPLAINT WITH FORD TO NO AVAIL. ASKED FOR $ BACK, REFUSED. STILL IN DISPUTE, VEHICLE NOT FIXED. *NLM
2000 FORD RANGER WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP TRUCK SUTTERS. DEALERSHIP HAS PUT TWO DRIVESHAFTS IN TRUCK. FIXED PROBLEM FOR A MONTH OR TWO AND THEN PROBLEM COMES BACK. ALSO WHEN IDLING ACROSS PARKING LOT TRUCK WELL SLAM INTO NEXT HIGHER GEAR. *AK
ALL BALL JOINTS IN FRONT END NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 26,700 MILES. COSTING $800. *AK
FIRESTONE TIRES ON A 2000 FORD RANGER PICKUP, WHICH EXPLODED (BLOW OUT) AND CAUSED OVER $4000 DAMAGE TO MY SONS VEHICLE. *AK
WHEN I TURNED ON MY TURN SIGNAL SMOKE WOULD COME UP OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN THROUGH THE HAZARD SWTICH. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. *AK
AT 50,000 MILES, MY FORD RANGER BEGAN EXPERIENCING A SLIPPING TRANSMISSION AND FAILED TO START. THE PROBLEMS WERE DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED GASKET IN THE TRANSMISSION, AND A FAILED VALVE BODY PART IN THE MOTOR (WHICH WAS FIXED WITH AN "UPDATE KIT"). THE DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT THE BALL JOINTS WERE BEGINNING TO FAIL, AND A FRONT PINION SEAL HAD BEGUN TO LEAK. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR FAILED TO HOLD . *AK
WHILE DRIVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT PROPERLY. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
I WENT THROUGH 3 SUPPOSEDLY NEW ALTERNATORS WITHIN ONE MONTH. DEALERSHIPS IN BOTH TENNESSEE AND GEORGIA DENIED ANY PROBLEM WITH THE ALTERNATORS AND REFUSED TO REPAIR/REPLACE THEM AT NO CHARGE. I PAID FOR THREE ALTERNATORS IN ONE MONTH!!!! DON'T TELL ME THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. ALSO, THE FIRST REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE NEW (I WAS CHARGED OVER $500 FOR IT) BUT AFTER IT FAILED AND WAS INSPECTED, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A REBUILT ALTERNATOR. WHY DID THE DEALERSHIP CHARGE ME FOR A NEW ONE, AND WHY WASN'T I REFUNDED ANY MONEY?!?! ALSO, I HAVE WILDERNESS HT P225/10/R15 TIRES. THEY ALWAYS SQUEAL WHEN GOING AROUND CORNERS OR OVER SPEED BUMPS, NO MATTER HOW SLOW I AM GOING. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THEM? I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEM. MY FORD RANGER HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. WHEN I TURN ON MY TURNING SIGNAL SMOKE RISES FROM MY STEERING COLUMN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND SOMEDAYS IT WILL NOT (THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE). THE OTHER DAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND I TURNED ON MY TURNING SIGNAL AND WHEN I DID MY ABS KICKED IN THE ABS LIGHT ON MY DASH TURNED ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY TRUCK TO CHUG UP TO THE GAS STATION OFF THE NEXT EXIT. MY TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. MY HUSBAND HAS A 1999 FORD RANGER AND HE HAS EXPERIENCED SMOKE FROM HIS TURN SIGNAL ALSO, AS WELL AS HIS WINDSHEILD WIPERS TURNING ON SPONTANIOUSLY (OFTEN WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL IS USED).
WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING THE BALL JOINTS MADE A LOUD NOISE. *NLM DEALER FOUND THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE LUBRICATED. *TT *JB
THE POSITIVE WIRE CONNECTED TO THE ALTERNATOR OF A 2000 FORD RANGER WITH 39000 MILES BURNED CAUSING A FIRE. ACCORDING TO FORD, SOMETHING IN THE ALTERNATOR SYSTEM FAILED CAUSING THE ALTERNATOR TO CONTINUOUSLY CHARGE THE BATTERY UNTIL THE WIRING OVERHEATED, SHORTED OUT, SPARKING A FIRE. THERE WAS NO NOTIFICATION OF A PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. AFTER CONTACTING FORD'S CONSUMER COMPLAINT SYSTEM, FORD DECLINED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM TO MY SATISFACTION. THEY BASICALLY WASHED THEIR HANDS OF THE ISSUE STATING IT WAS NOT A FORD DESIGN PROBLEM AND THAT I COULD NOT ELEVATE THE PROBLEM TO ANY OTHER LEVEL WITHIN FORD. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL (FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT#P225/7015). *NLM

THE VEHICLES LEFT REAR TIRE THREAD SEPARATED, BLEW OUT AND CAME COMPLETELY OFF THE RIM. *NLM
AFTER IT RAINS I HAVE A POOL OF WATER ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR. IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM BEHIND THE DASH BOARD (FIRE WALL). HELP! POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL HAZARD. *NLM
THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE, BECAUSE THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE BRAKE DRUMS RUSTING. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS UNWANTED ACCELERATION. THE CONSUMER STATES IT BECOMES VERY VIOLENT UPON COMING TO A STOP. *AK WHEN THE CONSUMER STOPPED USING THE AUTO SPEED CONTROL THE SURGING DID NOT OCCUR UNTIL EARLY 2005. THERE WAS A BANGING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR WHEN BRAKING DUE TO THE REAR SPEED SENSOR AND THE BRAKE PUMP, IT MADE THE VEHICLE FEEL AS IF IT WERE BEING HIT IN THE BACK. *SC *JB
THE VEHICLES ENGINE RACED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR BEING PRESSED. *NLM
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED, AND THE HEADLIGHTS CUT OFF INTERMITTENTLY. *JB THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD GO OUT 40-50 SECONDS AT A TIME. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT HE HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS RECALL #B00B40. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL DOESN'T PERTAIN TO HIS VEHICLE AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM TO DETERMINE HOW TO ASSIST HIM. SCC

SOMETHING IN MY STEERING BROKE CAUSING MY TRUCK TO CRASH INTO A BRIDGE. IT LOCKED MY STEERING CAPABILITY ON THE LEFT SIDE. 2000 FORD RANGER. IT WAS TOTALED.*JB
THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT, AND WOULDN'T COME BACK ON. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH MIGHT HAVE A SHORT IN IT. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. PH
I BELIEVE THAT THE DRIVE BELT IN MOST FORD RANGERS ARE PUSHED TO FAR INN. WHEN WATER GETS ON THE BELT IT WILL SQUEL FOR THE LONGEST TIME. I TOOK MY RANGER TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE PULLED ONE OF THE DRIVE PULLYS FORWARD3/4 OF AN INCH AND I HAVENT HAD THE PROBLEM SINCE. I HAVE NEIGHBORS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAVE HEARD QUITE A FEW RANGERS DRIVE BY THAT SOUND LIKE THIS./
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION AND SUSTAINED HEAVY DAMAGE AS A RESULT WITH IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. AT IMPACT, DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS.
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT RANDOMLY CAME ON AS WELL AS THE BUZZER. AT ONE TIME, THE DOME LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AND THE BATTERY WENT DEAD! *NM
AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND STEERING WHEEL DID NOT CALLAPSE ON IMPACT. SPEED ON IMPACT WAS ESTIMATED TO BE 50 MILES PER HOUR.
DRIVING ALONG HIGHWAY IN PHX AZ. LADY COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE WAS SPUN AROUND IN A CIRCLE SENDING HER SIDEWAYS ACROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC IN REVERSE. ENDING UP IN MY LANE, ON THE FAR RIGHT, DRIVING AROUND 65 MPH I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES, SKIDDING INTO HER DRIVERS SIDE REAR CORNER HEAD ON DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF MY TRUCK. MY BUMPER WAS CREASED IN THE CENTER, PUSHING IT BACK INTO MY RADIATOR, FRONT GRILL WAS CRUSHED, HOOD WAS SMASHED UPWARD, WINDSHEILD WAS BROKEN, BOTH FRONT PARTS OF THE FRAME WERE BENT INWARD TOWARDS THE CENTER, STEERING WHEEL WAS BENT AT THE TOP FORWARD AND THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS CRACKED TO THE POINT THAT I WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE TRUCK AS THE STEERING WHEEL JUST SPUN AROUND WITHOUT TURNING THE FRONT WHEELS. I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT AS WAS MY 5YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I WAS THROWN AGIANST THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY KNEES HIT THE DASH BOARD UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL. I FEEL THAT MY DRIVER AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF PREVENTING ME FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE DASH BOARD. THE TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AS OF YET, AS I AM WAITING ON THE OTHER DRIVERS INSURANCE COMPANY TO HAVE IT APPRAISED FOR DAMAGES. I HAVE BEEN SEEING A CHIROPRACTOR FOR MY BACK, SHOULDERS, ARMS, NECK. CONSTANT NUMBNESS IN MY ARMS AND HANDS, AS WELL AS PAIN IN MY BACK AROUND MY SHOULDERS. MY KNEES ARE CONSTANTLY SORE AND OCCAISIONALLY SWOLLEN. I AM UNABLE TO BEND DOWN AT MY KNEES BECAUSE OF THE PAIN WHEN STANDING BACK UP, AND FEAR OF DISLOCATING MY KNEES WHICH HAS HAPPEN ALREADY. I AM UNABLE TO COME UP WITH FUNDS TO SEE A KNEE SPECIALIST. I WAS LAID OFF FROM MY WORK SINCE I COULDNT CLIMB A LADDER AND INSTALL SIGNS, OR WORK IN THE SHOP DOING SIGN MANUFACTURING, UNABLE TO STAND FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. UNABLE TO ACTIVILY SEARCH FOR WORK IN FLAGSTAFF, BECAUSE I HAD TO MOVE IN WITH RELATIVES WHO LIVE IN MUNDS PARK, AZ. WHICH IS 28 MILES AWAY FROM CITY LIMITS. NOTHING BUT FORESTRY BETWEEN TOWNS. LOSS OF WORK AND TRANSPORTATION. *AK
THE ROTORS EXPERIENCED PREMATURE WEAR, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE AND VIBRATED.*JB
VEHICLE IS EXHIBITING INTERMITTENT POWER LOSS AND / OR NO THROTTLE RESPONSE FROM THE POSITION OF ONE HALF THRU FULL THROTTLE AT A GROUND SPEED OF 28 TO 70 MPH. VEHICLE IS ALSO EXHIBITING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS OF DRIVE LINE CLUNKING UPON COAST DOWN OF 30 TO 5 MPH AS WELL AS VIBRATION FELT THRU THE DRIVERS SEAT AND DASHBOARD AT 2000 RPM. *TT *NLM
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHEN HIT AT 40MPH IN THE FRONT CENTER OF THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING MINOR INJURIES TO THE CONSUMER. DEALER NOTIFIED TS

THIS WAS A FRONT END COLLISION AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. DT
CONSUMER STATES SHE HAD A FRONT END COLLISION DOING ABOUT 45-50 MPH, AND HER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE 2 PERSONS INJURIED INCLUDING THE DRIVER. CONSUMER STATES SHE RECEIVED CHEST AND BACK INJURIED. THE PERSON IN THE OTHER AUTO RECEIVED A BROKEN ARM. TS
CONSUMER STATES THAT VEHICLE HAS A CABLE FROM ACCELERATOR PEDAL. CONSUMER STATES THE BRACKET THE CABLE IS ATTACHED TO BROKE AND NOW WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE'S ACCELERATION IS RETARDED. CONSUMER STATES HAS PLASTIC FUEL TANK W/A PLASTIC "SCREW-ON" CAP THAT HOLDS THE FUEL GAUGE METERING SYSTEM. THE CAP BROKE. WHILE CONSUMER WAS FUELING VEHICLE, GAS PUMP OVERFLOWED. NLM CONSUMER STATES THEY WASN'T AWARE OF THE FAILURE UNTIL THEY WERE FUELING THE VEHICLE AND FUEL SPILLED ON THE GROUNG. PH 09-DEC-2002

CONSUMER WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT BEGAN IN OR UNDER THE BED OF THE PICKUP. CONSUMER STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THE VEHICLE AND IT'S CONTENTS WERE ENGULFED IN THE FIRE. *JG
THE ENGINE IS STARTING TO MAKE A "PINGING" SOUND, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE NOISE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE FORD DEALERSHIP REPROGRAMMED THE ENGINE WITH A COMPUTER FOR CALIBRATION. WHILE DRIVING UPHILL THE TRUCK IS SLUGGISH, NOT RESPONDING TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING PRESSED. THE DEALERSHIP IS NO LONGER PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE ON THE TRUCK. OWNER WOULD LIKE YOU TO REFERENCE HIS COMPLAINT TO A COMPLAINT FROM THE INTERNET 761703. *NLM *DT
CONSUMER STATES BEFORE NOW, THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHILE DRIVING FROM 35 MPH UP TO 50 MPH. NOW THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED SEVERELY ALL OVER WHEN DRIVING AT ANY GIVEN SPEED. THIS CONDITION HAS CAUSED EXCESSIVE FRONT WEAR ON THE TIRE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND BOTH INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS ISSUE AND FILL OUT THE QUESTIONNAIRE. *PH
FRONT BRAKES ARE WEARING OUT UNEVENLY, ONE SIDE MORE THAN THE OTHER.CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
TORIONS SHOULD OF BEEN PUT ON INSTEAD SPRING BRAKES WERE PUT ON
THE FUEL LINE CAME LOOSE AT THE FUEL FILTER ALLOWING THE GAS TO BE PUMPED OUT UNDER THE TRUCK. ALTHOUGH THEIR WAS NO FIRE IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPITIED, WITH THE FUEL BEING SPRAYED ALL OVER THE UNDERNEATH OF THE TRUCK, INCLUDING THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. I FELL THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE A RECALL SITUATION BEFOR SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIES FROM THIS DEFECT.*AK
ABS LIGHT HAD BEEN TURNING ON AND OFF FOR WEEKS AND BRAKES HAD NOT BEEN FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THEN LIGHT WAS ON ALL THE TIME. AT INTERSECTIONS I WOULD APPLY THE BRAKES AND THEY WOULD BARELY STOP THE TRUCK. ONCE IT WAS STOPPED THE TRUCK WOULD THEN SUDDENLY ROLL FORWARD AGAIN EVEN WITH BRAKE PEDAL PRESSED TO FLOOR. FRONT AND BACK PADS WERE REPLACED BY MY MECHANIC. PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED, ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING DOWN HILL. TOOK IT BACK TO MY MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE IT WAS NOT THE BRAKE PADS AND WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. RUDE SERVICE REP AT DEALERSHIP WENT WITH ME FOR A TEST DRIVE, SAID HE COULD NOT VERIFY MY COMPLAINT EVEN THOUGH THE ABS LIGHT WAS ON FOR THE WHOLE RIDE. HE CLAIMED MY MECHANIC HAD SCREWED SOMETHING UP, SAID THE INTERMITTANT BRAKE FAILURE WAS ALL IN MY IMAGINATION, ETC. BUT SINCE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE HE WOULD DO FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS. TWO AND A HALF WEEKS LATER AFTER BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE THE TRUCK'S "NON-EXISTANT" BRAKE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE WATER COLLECTING UNDER THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT AND RUSTING OUT A SENSOR FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. ENTIRE ABS SYSTEM REPLACED. PROBLEMS SOLVED FOR NOW BUT WHAT ABOUT WHEN IT RUSTS OUT AGAIN? WHY HAD WATER COLLECTED THERE? I DO NOT DRIVE IN RIVERS OR LAKES. IT WOULD HAVE COST ME $2500 IN PARTS AND LABOR IF IT HAD NOT BEEN UNDER WARRANTY. DT
ROTORS REPLACED TWICE IN JUNE 2002 JIM DOYLE DEALER SAID ROTORS WERE DAMAGED BY BAD CALIPERS, 10000 MILES.. IN AUGUST 2003 (WEST FORD COULDN'T WAIT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEE,K ROTORS WERE REPLACED AGAIN WITH 5000 MILES . BRAKE PADS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE. PADS WERE NOT REPLACED !ST REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY 2ND $300.00..*AK
CONSUMER WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 25-30MPH ON A DIRT GRAVEL ROAD. DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT IMPACT. DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
THE TIRES SHOW NO OTHER UNUSUAL SIGNS OF WEAR BUT DO SHOW SIGNS OF SEPARATION BESIDE THE TREAD THE VEHICLE HAS 28000 MILES ON IT AND I THINK THAT IT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING AT THIS MILEAGE.
