I HAVE A 2000 FORD RANGER XLT 3.0 LITER AT 39,000 MILES MY ANTILOCK BRAKES WENT OUT. THEY STOP WORKING AND MADE MY STOPS DURING BAD WEATHER MORE DANGEROUS. MY SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER STOP WORKING AT AROUND 64,000 MILES AND WAS NOT ABLE TO AFFORD THE REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN CALCULATING THE SPEED OVER THE PAST 7 YEARS AND THE MILEAGE. *TR
THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING ON AIR CONDITIONER. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY REPLACED SOME PARTS, CURRENTLY, ENGINE CHECK LIGHT IS ON, AND AIR CONDITIONER WON'T COME ON.*AK
OIL IS LEAKING FROM GASKET WHILE DRIVING. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
RECEIVED THIS VEHICLE ON -1/16/2000 EVERY THING RAN GOOD FOR 6 MO. THE ENGINE STARTED A TO EXHIBIT A ENGINE SPARK KNOCK (PING NOISE). I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN NUMUS NUMEROUS TIMES. EACH TIME THAT I HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP THERE WAS A FAILURE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES TELLING DIFFERENT THINGS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY CONCLUDED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO RUN THE VEHICLE WITH A MORE EXPENSIVE FUEL. WITHOUT ANY COMPENSATION. THIS IS IN CONTRADICTION IN OF SERVICE MANUAL WHICH STATES THESE VEHICLES CAN BE OPERATED ON A NORMAL OCTANE. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED NEW. THE PING IS MORE APPARENT IN WARM AND DRY CLIMATES. THE DEALERSHIP MAINTAINS THAT EVERYTHING IS IN SPECS. PING FROM AN ENGINE IS NOT A NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION. I HAVE WROTE LETTERS TO THE MAIN CUSTOMER SERVICE BUREAU FOR FORD MOTOR COMPANY. ALSO TO THE LEAD SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE DEALERSHIP. STILL AFTER 2 1/2 YEARS THIS PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. IN FACT EVEN WITH THE HIGHER OCTANE FUELS THE 2.5 ENGINE IS STILL PING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. NOW THEY ARE STATING TO ME, THAT THIS PROBLEM IS BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE WARRANTY?*AK

WHILE DRIVING 65-70 MPH, SIDEWALL ON LEFT REAR TIRE SEPARATED. ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FOR A FORD, RANGER, 2000 TIRE SIZE P225/70R15 DOT# W2UUIP01900. *AKTHE RIM/WHEEL WAS ALSO DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE TIRE FAILURE, FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT. *JG
TRUCK WAS PARKED IN AIRPORT PARKING LOT. WHEN PICKED UP AND ENGINE TURNED ON, FUEL SPEWED OUT FROM AN APPARENT FAILURE IN THE CONNECTION OF FUEL LINE. NO INJURIES RESULTED; CLAMP ON LINE HAS EITHER BEEN BROKEN/DISCONNECTED/FAILED. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. INCIDENT HAD NO IMMEDIATE ADVERSE CONSEQUENCES, BUT SIGNIFICANT POTENTIAL DISASTER. I NOTICED A FAIRLY LARGE PATCH OF OIL BENEATH MY TRUCK WHEN VEHICLE HAD BEEN IDLE FOR A DAY OR SO. I CRAWLED BENEATH VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT A LEAK OF SOME MAGNITUDE WAS OCCURRING SOMEWHERE ON THE ENGINE. NOTIFIED DEALERSHIP WHERE VEHICLE SERVICED, BUT NOT PURCHASED FROM. ALL SERVICE HAS BEEN CONDUCTED AT LISTED DEALERSHIP. THEY DETERMINED THAT I HAD BLOWN THE REAR MAIN SEAL OF THE ENGINE, AND WOULD REQUIRE SUBSTANTIAL REPAIR. DURING THE COURSE OF THAT REPAIR, IT WAS FURTHER DETEMINED THAT THE OIL PAN GASKET WAS ALSO IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. THIS MORE THAN DOUBLED THE REPAIR COST TO THIS VEHICLE. I AM NOT PARTICLULARY MECHANICALLY INCLINED TOWARD CARS OR TRUCKS, BUT DO CONSISTANTLY MAINTAIN THOSE THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR, AND I HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION TO VERIFY THAT.. WE TOOK OUR RANGER IN ON 11/28/01 BECAUSE THERE WAS A SQUEALING NOISE, SERVICE DERPART. COULD NOT HEAR IT. TOOK IT BACK ON 01/07/02 BECAUSE NOISE GOT WORSE. THEY FOUND THAT THERE WAS NO GREASE IN THE INNER BEARING ON BOTH SIDE OF THE FRONT WHEELS "SEE OTHER COMPLAINT ODI ID: 734299 FROM SOMEONE ELSE" IT HAS FEATHERING AND CUPPING ON THE TIRES ALSO THEY CANT SEEM TO FIX. . THEY ALSO FOUND ON 01/07/02 THAT THE SEAL ON THE ASSEMBLY TRANSMISSION EXTENSION WAS LEAKING. IT HAD A FLANGE SEAL PUT ON THE DIFFERENTIAL AT 2945 MILE, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DRIVE LINE. THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER FELL INTO THE INSIDE OF THE DASH. THE DEALER TELLS ME THIS WAS THE RESULT OF AN "EXTERNAL DEVICE" BEING PLUGGED IN TO THE LIGHTER SOCKET INSTEAD OF THE AUXILIARY POWER OUTLET. IT IS MY DAUGHTER'S TRUCK AND SHE RARELY PLUGS HER CELL PHONE CHARGER IN TO THE LIGHTER. THE DEALER TELLS ME THIS CREATED ENOUGH HEAT TO MELT THE MOUNTING TABS ON THE INSIDE OF THE DASH ALLOWING THE LIGHTER TO FALL INSIDE. I ASK YOU: IF A CELL PHONE CHARGER CAN CREATE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WHY DOES THE LIGHTER SOCKET READLIY ACCEPT THE PLUG OF THE CHARGER? WHY ISN'T IT SIZED DIFFERENTLY TO PREVENT THIS? WHY DIDN'T A FUSE BLOW LONG BEFORE THIS MUCH HEAT WAS GENERATED? HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE RISKING THEIR LIVES PLUGGING THEIR CELL PHONE CHARGERS IN TO THE LIGHTER? FOUR TIRES ARE 16 INCH TIRES. HOWEVER, EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE IS A 15 INCH TIRE. OWNERS MANUAL STATES IT IS UNSAFE TO PUT DIFFERENT SIZE TIRES ON SAME VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS ACTION INCREASES THE RISK OF A ROLLOVER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / ATTACHMENTS.*AK
DRIVESHAFT. DRIVESHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, AND THE FUEL RESEVOIR HAS BEEN MOVED. DRIVE SHAFTS HAVE BEEN LUBRICATED 6 TIMES. ISSUE IS THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT SLIPS AND JERKS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JUMP DURING LIGHT ACCELERATION FROM A STOP, AND OR WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP WITH LIGHT BRAKING. LUBRICATION OF DRIVE SHAFT WORKS FOR PERIODS OF 6000-8000 MILES BEFORE HAS TO BE REAPPLIED.*AK

IT WAS 4 A.M. ON I65 INTERSTATE GOING HUNTING . I WAS TRAVELING @ 75 MPH AND MY RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW AND CAUSED ME TO SWERVE FROM THE RIGHT SHOULDER TO THE MEDIUM AND BACK TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER BEFORE I COULD GAIN CONTROL. IF IT HAD BEEN A FRONT TIRE OR I HAD BEEN IN SOME TRAFFIC THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABAD WRECK. THE TREAD COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE SIDEWALLS FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE TIRE WAS SHREADED BEFORE I COULD STOP. I CAN SUPPLY A DIGITAL PICTURE BY E-MAIL IF NEEDED. FIRST 2 FRONT TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 19525 MILES BECAUSE THE TREAD WAS STARTING TO SEPARATE AND THE STEEL WAS SHOWING THROUGH. ON 11/4/01, I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY @ 65 MPH AND HEARD A VERY LOUD SOUND FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS UNCONTROLABLE AND I SLOWED TO A STOPPING SPEED AND PULLED OVER. THE REAR PASSANGER SIDE TIRE HAD THE ENTIRE SIDE WALL SEPARATED FROM THE TREAD OF THE TIRE AND WE WERE ON THE RIM. THE ENTIRE TIRE IS IN TWO PIECES, SEPARATED AT THE SEAM OF THE TIRE. WE WENT TO THE FIRESTONE DEALER IN TOWN AND HE TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO...AND ASSUMED THAT WE HAD NOT ROTATED OUR TIRES, THAT THE TIRE MUST HAVE BEEN IN THE FRONT, AND THE "BLOW OUT" MUST HAVE BEEN DUE TO A HOLE IN THE TIRE. HE WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THE TIRE. AFTER REPLACING THE TIRE, WE NOTICED THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TIRE WAS VERY WORN AND CLOSE TO SEPARATION, ALSO. WE HAVE THE DEFECTIVE TIRE AND CAN SEND PICTURES. THE REASON FOR THIS COMPLAINT IS DUE TO MY WILDERNESS HT TIRES I FEEL VERY UNSAFE WITH THESE TIRES ON MY VEHICLE.
