THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN OCTOBER OF 2007. WHEN SHE CALLED BACK, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL FEBRUARY OF 2008. SHE HAS NOT YET HAD HER SPEED CONTROL SWITCH DEACTIVATED. THE CONTACT FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER, VIN, AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE POTENTIAL OF AN UNDERHOOD FIRE IN HIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD BE UNAVAILABLE UNTIL THE FOURTH QUARTER OF 2007. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY LEAKAGE, WHICH POSES THE THREAT OF AN UNDERHOOD FIRE. THE FAILURE COULD OCCUR WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR IN MOTION. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE NHTSA RECALL NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,700.

SHE CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND MANUFACTURER IN JANUARY OF 2008 AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. HE WAS INFORMED EVERY MONTH THEREAFTER THAT THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE THE FOLLOWING MONTH. IN DECEMBER OF 2007, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2008. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE PURCHASE DATE AND RECALL NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I RECEIVED A LETTER IN AUG, 2007 ABOUT A SPEED CONTROL DEVICE ON MY TRUCK THAT WAS BAD. SAID TO GO HAVE IT DISCONNECTED WHICH I DID. I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE PART AND WAS TOLD ON 2/14/08 THAT THE PART STILL ISN'T AVAILABLE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG TO GET THIS FIXED. THANK YOU *TR
RECALL LETTER STATED SPEED CONTROL REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. NUMEROUS CALLS TO MANUFACTURER OVER LAST 3 MONTHS TO EFFECT REPAIR RESULTED IN ME BEING INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE REPAIR PARTS. I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM FORD IN AUGUST 2007. THE RECALL NUMBER IS: 05S28. I TRIED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IN SEP. 07 WITH SUPERSTITION FORD IN MESA, AZ. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE BACK ORDERED AND THAT THEY WOULD PUT MY NAME ON A LIST AND CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS WERE IN. I DID NOT RECEIVE A CALL FROM THAT DAY IN SEP., AND THEREFORE, CALLED THEM AGAIN TODAY, JAN. 28, 08. I WAS ONCE AGAIN TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE ORDERED IN AUG. 07, BUT HAD STILL NOT ARRIVED AS THE DATE OF MY CALL. I WAS STILL ON THEIR LIST WITH MANY OTHERS TO GET THE RECALL SCHEDULED AND SATISFIED. I STRONGLY FEEL FOR THIS RECALL THAT THE TIME INTERVAL IS UNREASONABLE AND UNSAFE. *CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE REAR AXLE FLUID. THE REAR AXLE WAS REPLACED AND NO OTHER FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 61,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
RECEIVED A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE MAY 07 AS OF TODAY I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT IT WILL NOT BE FIXED TILL LATE JUNE 2008 OR LATER. SO I AM DRIVING A TRUCK THAT I AM PAYING FOR THAT HAS NO CRUISE CONTROL AND WHEN THIS DISCONNECTED MY CRUISE CONTROL WITHOUT TELLING ME TILL AFTER THE FACT, IT ALSO DISCONNECTED MY ABS SYSTEM. SO NOW I HAVE NO ANTI LOCK BRAKES -HARDLY ANY BRAKES AND NO CRUISE CONTROL. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. WHY DID THEY DISCONNECT THE SYSTEM, KNOWINGLY WITHOUT TELLING THE CONSUMER THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART IN STOCK. SO I AM DRIVING A UNSAFE VEHICLE IN MY OPTION. *TR
THE TAILGATE LATCH ON THE 2002 FORD RANGER PICKUP BROKE. THE PLASTIC MATERIAL APPEARED TO BE HEAVILY OXIDIZED AND BRITTLE , BASED ON MY MECHANICAL ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE. THE DEALER THAT REPAIRED THE LATCH SAID THEY SOLD 3 OR 4 OF THESE EACH MONTH AT A COST OF $179.81 EACH, INCLUDING LABOR. FORD MOTOR COMPANY DID NOT ACCEPT THAT THEY MADE A MISTAKE IN THE CHOICE OF MATERIALS.*AK
ON FEBRUARY 1, 2007, I WAS SLOWLY FOLLOWING AN SUV IN A CROWDED PARKING LOT AS WE BOTH LOOKED FOR A PARKING SPOT. THE SUV STOPPED. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEN SUDDENLY MY 2002 FORD RANGER ACCELERATED. THE TIRES SQUEALED AS THE BRAKES FOUGHT THE ACCELERATION. I HIT THE SUV FROM BEHIND. THE SUV PULLED FORWARD AND THE RANGER CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AN HIT THE SUV AGAIN. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE RANGER WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. WHEN THE BODY WORK IS COMPLETE I WILL HAVE THE RANGER TOWED TO A FORD DEALER TO ADDRESS THE SUDDEN, UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEM. *NM
SLOWING DOWN WHILE COMING UP TO A SIGNAL LIGHT, AS I MADE THE RIGHT TURN THE TRUCK SUDDENLY STALLED AND THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES BECAME HARD TO HANDLE. THE TRUCK HOWEVER STARTED UP RIGHT AWAY BUT HAD A LOSS OF POWER FOR ABOUT HALF A MILE TO MY HOME. AFTER TURNING THE TRUCK OFF AND STARTING IT UP AGAIN, THE TRUCK RAN FINE UNTIL THE OTHER DAY WHEN IT STALLED AND LOST POWER AGAIN. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. READING ALL THE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FORD RANGERS HAS ME THINKING THAT SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE FORD RANGERS. *NM
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WON'T STAY BUCKLED. VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD RANGER. WHILE PERFORMING MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FRAME WAS RUSTING. OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW YEARS, THE RUSTING HAD PROGRESSED AND WORSENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FORD 2002 RANGER DRIVEN BY MY MINOR SON TO SCHOOL APPROX 3 MILES. WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, A MOTORIST BEHIND MY VEHICLE ALERTED MY SON THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. MY SON AND OTHER MOTORIST PULLED INTO NEXT AVAILABLE PARKING LOT WHERE THE OTHER MOTORIST WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE TAILLIGHT WITH WORL GLOVES. AT APPROX 8:00 A.M. I DROVE THE VEHICLE DIRECTLY TO ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP TO REPORT THE VEHICLE FIRE AND DETERMINE REPAIR COST AND PAYMENT METHOD (OWNER VS. FORD). HALL FORD COULD NOT INITIALLY IDENTIFY WHY THE FIRE STARTED IN THE TAILLIGHT AND FORWARD INCIDENT REPORT TO THEIR REGIONAL MANAGER, WHO IN TURN, FORWARDED THE REPORT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION ON NOV 28, 2006 THAT SUGGESTED I GO THROUGH MY INSURANCE COMPANY WHO COULD FILE SUBROGATION CLAIM AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE REMAINS UNRESOLVED. THERE IS NO REASON FOR A TAILLIGHT TO CATCH ON FIRE UNLESS THERE IS MATERIAL DEFECT. WITHOUT THE ALERTNESS OF ANOTHER MOTORIST, THE FIRE COULD HAVE CONTINUED UP THE WIRE HARNESS AND PASS THE FUEL NOZZLE. *NM
UPPER BALL JOINTS INADEQUATELY LUBRICATED LEADING TO PREMATURE FAILURE (3 IN 50,000 MILES). *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS AROUND 20 MPH THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE WAS ALSO HEARD WHILE MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINTS HAD EXCESSIVE PRY AND COULD POSSIBLY SEPARATE. THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FAILURES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THE REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL COULD BE CHANGED AT A CHARGE. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT THIS WAS A DEFECT. UPDATED 11/30/2006 - WHILE DRIVING THE REAR OF THE TRUCK SHOOK PROFUSELY. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY DETERMINED THAT THE REAR AXLES WERE CRACKED AND THE ENTIRE REAR DIFFERENTIAL SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO ADMITTED THERE WAS A RECALL BUT STATED THAT IT HAD EXPIRED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP EXPLAINED THAT THE RECALL HADN'T EXPIRED IT JUST DIDN'T EXIST FOR THE CONSUMER'S RANGER. THE SERVICE REP WHEN ON TO TELL THE CONSUMER THAT THE RECALL WAS FIR 2002 RANGER 4X4 WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *NM
DRIVING WITH THE A/C OFF. DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN. I HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DOWN ABOUT AN 1.5' DOWN . THE PASSAGE SIDE WINDOW CRACKED INTO A MILLION PIECES. THE WIND WAS BLOWING PRETTY STRONG I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 55 MILES PER HOUR. *NM

THE DEALER CONTINUES TO PROVIDE DATES AS TO WHEN THE PARTS WILL ARRIVE, BUT THEY ARE STILL UNAVAILABLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURE TO DATE. THE RECALL NUMBER, PURCHASE DATE, AND FUEL SYSTEM WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,763.
2002 FORD RANGER FX4- AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE HAD APPROX. 65K MILES AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. DROVE VEHICLE NORMALLY, STARTED NOTICING "CLUNKING" SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED AS A CRACKED REAR DIFFERENTIAL UNIT THAT WAS VERY CLOSE TO CAUSING AXLE TO LOCK UP. PARTS REPLACED BY MY MECHANIC AT THE COST OF APPROX. $1500. SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO RECALL #02V035000 CONCERNING MANUAL TRANSMISSION VERSION. *NM
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING ABOUT 60 MPH, MY SEAT BELT (DRIVER'S SIDE) CAME UNBUCKLED. AS I ATTEMPTED TO BUCKLE IT AGAIN, I WAS UNABLE TO GET IT TO STAY BUCKLED. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL CAR DEALER WHO ASKED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR THEM TO INSPECT. UPON INSPECTION BY THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK, I WAS INFORMED OF THE NEED TO HAVE THE SEAT BELT CONNECTOR UNIT REPLACED. THIS WAS DONE THE NEXT DAY, AND I HAVE RETAINED THE REPLACED PART. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55MPH WITHOUT WARNING THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT ANCHORAGE CAME LOOSE FROM THE VEHICLE FLOOR. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE ANCHORAGE WIRE CABLE FRAYED. THE SEAT BELT ANCHORAGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
DOME LIGHT WONT SHUT OFF & DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON . THE DOME LIGHT COULD START A FIRE. *NM
I OWNED A 2002 FORD RANGER WITH 45,000 MILES ON IT. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IT AND CAME TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION AFTER EXITING AN EXPRESSWAY. BLACK SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. WITHIN 10 MINUTES, THE TRUCKS ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND COCKPIT WERE COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND THE TRUCK WAS DESTROYED. *JB
AUTO TRANSMISSION ON 2002 FORD RANGER EDGE WITH 43000 MILES FAILED DUE TO TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE. VEHICLE NOT USED FOR TOWING OR HAULING. REQUIRED COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF TRANSMISSION. *NM
02 RANGER 4X4. FORD IS USING JUCKY VALVE BODY ON THERE AUTO TRANSMISSION!!! THIS PROBLEM MAKE THE TRANSMISSION SLIP & SLOW SHIFT. ON THE RANGER STATION THIS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM ON RANGER& A BIG ONE ON EXPLORER. *JB
I WAS GOING HOME FROM WORK AT ABOUT 15:45 ON COLORADO HIGHWAY. 66. I WAS TRAVELING EAST BOUND AT 65 MPH WHEN THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF IN MY 2002 FORD RANGER. BECAUSE OF THIS I ENDED UP CROSSING THE OPPOSING LANE OF TRAFFIC AND INTO THE DITCH. THIS CAUSED THE FRONT END SUSPENSION TO BE DAMAGED. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THIS AND WAS BASICALLY GIVEN A RUN AROUND FOR 9 WEEKS. ON APRIL 13, 2006 FORD CONTACTED ME AND SAID THAT THEIR ENGINEERS HAD DETERMINED THAT THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF BECAUSE I WENT INTO THE DITCH NOT BEFORE. SO THEY ARE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO FATALITIES OR ACCIDENTS. *JB
ROUGH OR DELAYED SHIFT 2ND TO 3RD, 3RD TO 4TH. BEEN TO DEALER AND CHARGED 800.00 FOR UPDATED VALVE BODY. NO BETTER. INDEPENDENT SHOP SHOWED ME A SEAL THAT FAILS ON MANY RANGERS CAUSING SAME PROBLEM. VIBRATION AT 65-70 AND GRINDING SOUND WHEN ACCELERATING HARD FROM STOP. *JB
TRUCK STILL NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY AFTER COMPLETE OVERHAUL BY FORD ON 5/22/04 ( COMPLAINT ODI NO. 10215891). FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT ROAD TEST TRUCK AND VERIFIED PROBLEM. CALLED HOTLINE (5LSB2012) R&R TO OVERHAUL, FOUND STICKING VALVE IN MAIN CONTROL(7A100), RESEALED TRANS.,REPLACED MAIN CONTROL AND TORQUE CONVERTER,FLUSHED COOLER LINES. BUT I RETURNED THE TRUCK COMPLAINING THAT THERE WAS A GRINDING WINING NOISE AND STILL NOT SHIFTING RIGHT. SERVICE MANAGER ROAD TESTED AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. WORK WAS PERFORMED AT 60,206 MILES AND NOW AT 90,125 MILES I CAN'T DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION S BROKEN AGAIN. THE PROBLEM IS HE TRANSMISSION WAS NEVER FIXED PROPERLY AT THE FIRST OVER HAUL OR THE SECOND TIME IT WAS OVERHAULED BY FORD. NOW I HAVE A TRUCK WITH A TRANSMISSION OVERHAULED TWICE BY FORE AND NEEDS OVERHAULED AGAIN. NOW FORD INFORMED ME THAT THE WARRANTY IS OUT AND THEY CAN NOT HELP ME. *TR

TURN SIGNALS BEGAN TO FAIL TO FLASH ON OCCASION. A LOUD BUZZING SOUND SEEMED TO COME FROM THE FLASHER. A SLIGHT PULLING BACK ON THE INDICATOR STALK WILL SOMETIMES CAUSE THE SIGNALS TO WORK. THIS, HOWEVER ALSO CAUSES THE HEADLIGHTS TO FLASH (FLASH TO PASS). THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALSO COME ON OCCASIONALLY WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL IS ACTIVATED. HAPPENS WITH BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT TURN SIGNAL. I AM AWAITING APPOINTMENT TO HAVE REPAIRED. *NM
I PURCHASED 2002 FORD RANGER EDGE 4X4 USED IN AUG 2005 W/36K ON IT. I HAD IT 3 WEEKS WHEN IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND WOULDN'T STOP WITH THE BRAKE TO THE FLOOR. IT SKIDDED 70 FEET JUMPED THE CURB AND DROVE ON OUR LAWN AND BACK ON THE STREET BEFORE I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT SLOWED ENOUGH TO STOP JUST INCHES FROM THE REAR END OF A PARKED VEHICLE. I THOUGHT I MAY HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG SINCE THIS WAS MY FIRST TRUCK IN THIS CLASS SO I READ THROUGH THE OWNERS MANUAL AND COULDN'T DETERMINE IF I HAD DONE ANYTHING WRONG. I TELECOMMUTE FROM HOME AND DON'T DRIVE OFTEN SO IT WAS WEEKS LATER WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN THIS TIME GOING UP A HILL ON WET PAVEMENT, THE TRUCK FISHTAILED AND WENT INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE. THANK FULLY THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE OTHER LANE. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO COULD NOT DETERMINE ANY PROBLEM AND IT WOULDN'T REPLICATE FOR HIM. IT HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES SINCE THEN AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES AND AM FRUSTRATED THAT NO ONE CAN FIX THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. OUR 2ND VEHICLE HAS DIED AND NOW THIS IS OUR ONLY TRANSPORTATION AND SINCE I OWE THOUSANDS ON IT STILL I AM STUCK-WILL GET NOTHING ON A TRADE IN AND CANT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL IT TO ANYONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *JB
THE STEERING MECHANISM WOULD LOCK UP, UNABLE TO START VEHICLE. BETWEEN PUTTING IT BETWEEN PARK AND DRIVE IT WOULD START BY SHIFTING IT. LOCAL FORD DEALERS WOULD STATE NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRE EQUIPMENT ON THE 2002 FORD RANGER WERE CUPPING. *MR THE TIRES WERE CUPPING ON BOTH EDGES OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAD GIVEN THE VEHICLE AN ALIGNMENT AND SUGGESTED THAT THE TOE:D WAS TOO STRONG. ALL OF THE TIRES CONTINUED TO CUP EVEN THOUGH THE CONSUMER MAINTAINED IT. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A BROADCAST MESSAGE WHICH REFERENCED TO A PROBLEM WITH RST P245 75R16 TIRES ON 2001-2004 RANGERS AND SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH P255 70R16. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. *SC *JB

WHILE LOADING A GENERATOR ONTO THE FLAT BED OF A PICK UP TRUCK WITH THE TAILGATE DOWN BOTH OF THE SUPPORT CABLES BROKE AND CAUSED THE TAILGATE TO FALL DOWN. BOTH SUPPORT CABLES SHOWED SIGNS OF CORROSION. NO INJURY, EXCEPT MINOR BURNS ON CONSUMER'S ARM AND LEGS. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. TOOK VEHICLE TO 2 DEALERS, THE FIRST SAID IT NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT, AND THE SECOND SAID THE TIRE WEAR WAS GOOD, AND NO LOOSE NUTS OR BOLTS WERE FOUND. THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR (SUICIDE DOOR) LATCHES AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM. THE BOTTOM LATCH WILL NOT LATCH. AS A RESULT, WHENEVER YOU CLOSE THE REGULAR PASSENGER DOOR IT DOES NOT ALLOW FOR A SECURE LATCH. THE INSIDE LIGHT AND THE IP LIGHT (DOOR AJAR) REMAINS ON UNLESS YOU GO OUTSIDE AND PUSH ON THE DOOR. IF YOU HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE LIGHT CONDITION WILL REAPPEAR. THIS DOOR HAS PROBABLY NOT BEEN USED MORE THAN 25 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW. THE VEHICLE IS A 2002 FORD RANGER SUPERCAB. *NM
