TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD RANGER. WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO WOBBLE. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE ROTORS OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ROTORS WERE CHANGED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
DRIVER SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY CAME APART CAUSING THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP WITH A SUDDEN STOP ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. HIGHER SPEEDS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *TR
I BROUGHT MY 2009 RANGER TO THE DEALER FOR A SAFETY INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE AND DURING THE INSPECTION IT WAS NOTED THAT THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS HAD SUBSTANTIAL PITTING AND SCORING ON THE IN-BOARD SIDE OF THE ROTOR. THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTORS. IT WAS NOTED THAT THE PADS SHOWED ONLY 30% WEAR AND THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 27159 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE SERVICE. I HAVEN'T FOUND ANY OTHER MENTION OF THESE FACTORY ROTORS FAILING IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND NEVER IN ALL THE FORD AND OTHER VEHICLES I'VE OWNED WOULD THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER SO FEW MILES WITH SO LITTLE WEAR ON THE PADS. I HAD THE PARTS SAVED AND THERE ARE PIECES MISSING FROM THE SURFACE THAT LOOK TO ME LIKE LARGE FLAKES OF THE SURFACE HAD WORN AWAY FROM THE ASSEMBLY. I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR ANYONE ELSE WITH THIS BRAND OF FACTORY INSTALLED ROTORS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT GEARS, THE CLUTCH ENGAGED PREMATURELY, WHICH PREVENTED IT FROM SHIFTING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE BUT DECIDED TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH AS A TEMPORARY FIX. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. "TAKATA RECALL" MY PASSENGER AIR BAG NOTIFICATION WARNING LETTER IS ATTACHED TO MY PASSENGER SUN VISOR. WHEN SEEN BY MOST POTENTIAL PASSENGERS THEY REFUSE TO RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE SUFFERED A LOSS OF PASSENGER SPACE BECAUSE OF THIS HAZARDOUS DEFECT. ALONG WITH REPAIR NEEDED ASAP, I FEEL COMPENSATION FOR THIS DELAY IS DUE.
PURCHASED A 2009 FORD RANGER IN JULY 2010. TWICE SINCE THEN WHEN I COME TO A STOP THE RPM'S STILL REVS AND I HAVE TO PUT THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL. I HAVE HAD THE DEALER CHECK IT OUT BE CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED, IN THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE BEFORE THE CLUTCH WAS RELEASED. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE TAKEN OUT OF GEAR WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE COULD BE AIR IN THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OF THE CLUTCH. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME BUT YET AGAIN, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TROUBLE WAS FIRST NOTICED IN LATE FEBRUARY, 2010, AND THE PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. WHILE DRIVING, AFTER GAS PEDAL IS RELEASED, TRUCK DOES NOT START TO SLOW DOWN FOR UP TO A HALF MILE WHILE TRAVERSING A LEVEL SURFACE, DEPENDING ON SPEED. TRUCK WILL NOT SLOW OR EVEN MAINTAIN SPEED WHILE ON GENTLE DOWNHILL - THE TRUCK WILL INCREASE IN SPEED. WHEN NEW, THE TRUCK WOULD SLOW DOWN ON THE FORE-MENTIONED GENTLE DOWN-HILL SLOPES. WITH FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL, THE RPMS WILL NOT DROP LIKE THE RPMS DID WHEN VEHICLE WAS NEW. WHILE DRIVING, I CAN PUSH IN CLUTCH WITH MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND THE RPMS WILL DO ONE OF TWO DIFFERENT BEHAVIORS; THE RPMS WILL EITHER REMAIN AT ABOUT THE SAME RPMS AS THE RPMS WERE WHILE DRIVING FOR SEVERAL SECOND TO OVER A MINUTE AFTER DISENGAGING THE CLUTCH, OR, THE RPMS WILL INCREASE 500 TO 1000 FOR SEVERAL SECOND TO OVER A MINUTE AFTER DISENGAGING THE CLUTCH BEFORE SETTLING DOWN TO 750 RPMS, WHICH IS THE NORMAL IDLE SPEED. A THIRD BEHAVIOR IS DEVELOPING. THIS ADDITIONAL BEHAVIOR IS: AFTER THE RPMS HAVE BEEN ELEVATED FOR SEVERAL SECOND, THE RPMS WILL BEGIN TO FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 1500 RPMS AND 3000 RPMS AND THE RPMS WILL CONTINUE TO FLUCTUATE FOR SEVERAL MORE SECONDS TO OVER A MINUTE BEFORE SETTLING DOWN TO 750 RPMS. WHILE AT RED LIGHTS WITH THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR, THE RPMS WILL REMAIN ELEVATED OR FLUCTUATE AS DESCRIED DURING THE ENTIRE LIGHT CYCLE. ON MARCH 25, 2010, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CROSSROADS FORD DEALER IN CARY, NC TO HAVE A MECHANIC INSPECT THE TRUCK. MECHANIC STATED THAT HE DID EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEMS WITH THE RPMS, HOWEVER, EVERYTHING WAS 'INSIDE SPECS' AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING AS INTENDED. DEALER'S REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THEY CONTACTED FORD ABOUT PROBLEM; I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM DEALER. MECHANIC INSPECTED VEHICLE WHEN VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 29,000 MILES, TROUBLE STARTED WHEN TRUCK HAD ABOUT 24,000 MILES. *TR
BOTH DOORS ON MY FORD RANGER 2009 FROZE SHUT, AND I COULDN'T OPEN THEM. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITH THE FIRST COLD WEATHER. I PUT SOME SILICONE SPRAY OVER THE BLACK SEAL. I OWNED OTHER VEHICLES, AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. WE ARE OLD, AND THIS VEHICLE IS NOT A YEAR OLD. WHY DOES THE WATER FREEZE SO QUICKLY, IS THIS A FAULTY DESIGN? WINTER WEATHER HAS JUST STARTED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY ATTEMPTED TO SURGE FORWARD SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL MOMENTS AFTER BEING STARTED UNTIL THE CLUTCH WAS ENGAGED. WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS ENGAGED, THE ENGINE REVVED UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE VARIOUS COMPONENTS IN THE ENGINE WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,001. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,900. BRAND NEW 2009 FORD RANGER SUPERCAB, CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC TIRES, 225/70/R15. 350 MILES, RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE ON HIGHWAY, LUCKILY NO DAMAGE, DRIVER SAID LOOKED LIKE THE SIDEWALL JUST COMPLETELY BLEW OUT. TAKING TO LOCAL DEALER/TIRE SUPPLY STORE FOR INVESTIGATION/REPLACEMENT. WILL UPDATE WITH FURTHER INFO WHEN HAVE FINDINGS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED RUST ON THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND THE STEERING PUMP OF HIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE PARTS UNTIL THEY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON JULY 18, 2009, BUT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE FAILURE UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT LEFT THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALER BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO DRIVE IT BACK HOME; HOWEVER, THEY STILL REFUSED TO MAKE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 975 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,075.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE TURNED. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS COOLANT LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE AND BUBBLING THROUGH THE HEAD GASKET WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE STEERING FAILURE BUT ADVISED THAT THE HEAD GASKET AND COOLANT FAILURE WAS NORMAL AND DID NOT NEED REPAIRING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1500.
IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING 2009 RANGER XLT, NOTICED EXCESSIVE DIRT ON FRONT WHEEL RIMS. COMPLAINED ABOUT IT TO DEALER FIRST TIME I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, ALSO COMPLAINED THAT I WASN'T GETTING MILEAGE EXPECTED. WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST BRAKE DUST, IT WOULD EASILY COME OFF WITH TIRE CLEANER & HOSE, & TRUCK NEEDED TO BE BROKEN IN FOR MILEAGE IMPROVEMENT. I KEPT COMPLAINING THAT BRAKE DUST SEEMED EXCESSIVE TO ME, NEVER HAD PROBLEM BEFORE. INSTALLED CERAMIC BRAKE PADS, DIDN'T HELP. WITHIN FIRST YEAR NOTICED STEERING WHEEL VIBRATING & DEALER SAID I HAD TO HAVE NEW PADS & ROTORS $400. I COMPLAINED AGAIN THAT SOMETHING ELSE MUST BE WRONG WITH BRAKES. I DON'T DRIVE DUSTY ROADS, DON'T RIDE THE BREAK, DON'T DRIVE EXCESSIVE MILES (72,000 IN 5 YRS.). WITHIN 6 MONTHS NOTICED STEERING WHEEL VIBRATING WHEN STOPPING, SOON NEEDED PADS & ROTORS AGAIN. HAVE HAD TO HAVE 5 BRAKE JOBS IN LAST 5 YEARS COSTING ME OVER $2000. HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD DEALERS & INDEPENDENTS EACH TELLING THEM I WANT IT SOLVED, NOT JUST TO SLAP ON NEW PARTS. NO ONE BOTHERS TO LISTEN TO ME, CHARGE ME OVER $400 EACH TIME & 3-6 MONTHS LATER THE ROTORS ARE WARPED AGAIN AND BRAKE PADS WEAR OUT SOON AFTER. "BRAKE DUST" HAD RUINED RIMS ON THE TRUCK.
THE RADIO HAS BEEN TURNING ON AND OFF SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT NEW. THE DASHBOARD DIMS OFF AND ON AND ILLUMINATES THE BATTERY LIGHT OFF AND ON. THE HEADLIGHTS AND BLINKERS AND BREAK LIGHTS COME IN AND OUT AND DON'T ALWAYS WORK. IT HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES REPEATEDLY FOR YEARS AND NONE OF THE SERVICE TECHS CAN TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG. THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.
THE ENGINE SPEED WILL NOT RETURN TO IDLE SPEED UNTIL THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP. IDLE SPEED 825RPM HOT 2000RPM COLD 1200RPM WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ROLLING THIS EVENT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE VEHICLE (MORE SO ON SLIPPERY ROADS) CONSTANT AND EXCESSIVE USE OF THE BRAKES.. I HAVE TOLD THIS TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION, THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT. THEY SAY THAT THEY HAVE CHECKED INTO THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT HAS NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,140. UPDATED 06/09/09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRUCK RAN AT 850 RPM AND NEEDS TO BE AT 950 RPM. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM, THAT WOULD REQUIRE REPROGRAMMING COMPUTER. UPDATED 06/10/09.*JB
TAKATA RECALL : FORD RANGER 2009 . VEHICLE HAS A BEEN RECALLED FOR A DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIR BAG. AIRBAG POSING A IMMEDIATE THREAT TO MYSELF AND PERSONAL SAFETY AND OF MY PASSENGERS DAILY. I NEED TO HAVE THIS POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING HAZARD REPAIRED. MY VEHICLE IS DRIVEN DAILY ON CITY STREETS AND MAJOR HIGHWAYS.
