HAD RECEIVED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING COIL SPRINGS. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. INFORMED NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE & DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD BE. *AK
ON ONE INCIDENT, WHILE DRVING THE VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENTLY SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND DOWNSHIFT HARD WHILE IN OVERDRIVE. ON ANOTHER INCIDENT, WHILE DRIVING ON SLIPPER ROAD CONDITIONS, VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO UNCONTROLLABLE SPIN AND LANDED IN OPPOSITE LANE. DEALER REPLACED LINKAGE SENSOR AND PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED. *AK *TT
VEHICLE WAS SKIPPING. MECHANIC STATES TRANSMISSION HAD METAL IN IT, AND LACK OF LUBRICATION CAUSED THE DEFECT. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH GETTING DEALER TO HONOR MFR. RECALL NOTICE # 98S -5 / NHTSA RECALL # 98V-094 000/ FORD COIL SPRINGS. *AK
CONSUMER HAS A COMPLAINT ABOUT MANUFACTURER'S RECALL NOTICE CONCERNING SPRING COIL DEFECT. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, BUT DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE DEFECTIVE PART UNTIL IT BREAKS. CONSUMER'S CONCERN IS WITH HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTER HAVING TO TRAVEL ONE WAY EVERY DAY 45 MILES AT 70 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN WHEN THE DEFECTIVE PART BREAKS WHILE THEY ARE TRAVELING . DEALER NOTIFIED AND WOULD ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THIS PROBLEM. *AK
RECALL 98V094000/98S15; THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND STATED THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. *AK
FUEL LINE GETS CLOGGED, CAUSING THE ENGINE NOT TO MOVE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. ENGINE IS ON, BUT IT IS NOT GIVEN GAS TO FUEL LINE. DEALER CANNOT FIND PROBLEM. *AK
TUMBLERS WITHIN CYLINDER FOR IGNITION KEY FRACTURED, CAUSING DIFFICULTY INSERTING KEY AND REMOVING KEY FROM IGNITION, ALSO MAY HAVE CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH CRUISE CONTROL. (QCAW)
CONSUMER COMPLAINED THAT MANUFACTURER RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED IN JULY NOT BEING HONORED DUE TO DEALER INFORMING THAT THE PART ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL LATE THIS YEAR. CONSUMER FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTILE REPAIR OF SHIELD ARE MADE. DEALER/MFR. NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED WHILE DRIVING HEAVY GAS FUMES GET INTO THE VEHICLE; A CAN HEAR THE GAS IN GAS TANK SOUND LIKE IT IS BOILING. DEALER NOTIFIED AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *AK
COIL SPRINGS WERE FRACTURED AND REPLACED BY THE REPAIR SHOP AT OWNERS EXPENSE.*AK.ET.
RECALL 98V009000 AND MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 98S01, HEADLIGHTS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DEALER STILL DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN OVER 90 DAYS AND THEY CANNOT TELL WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. DEALER IS MAC HAIDFORD AT 713-932-5065. *AK
THE CONSUMER HAS A RECALL LETTER ON THE FRONT COIL SPRING. *AK
WE HAVE HAD THIS SAME TROUBLE SINCE 1998, SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLORS, STILL DOING IT, STOPS ON THE FREEWAY, ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES, STOPS WHILE DRIVING AND WON;T START FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, SOMETHING BETTER BE DONE, THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, WHAT DOES IT TAKE, FOR ME TO GET KILLED, AND THEN YOU DO SOMETHING? I HAVE TALKED TO LOTS OF TAURUS OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AGAIN, IF A JUDGE THINKS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!!! WE HAVE BEEN TO TWO DEALERS, SEVERAL GARAGES, NO ONE COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, AFTER CHARGING US FOR REPAIRS THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, FIRST TIME WE IT STOPPED ON US WE WERE IN THE DESERT, IN JULY, WE BOTH HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS, WE DON;T NEED THIS STRESS!!! I AM NOT SURE WHEN WE BOUGHT THIS CAR, EITHER IN 1995 OR 1996, BUT 3M KEPT GOOD RECORDS ON IT, WE NEVER GOT A RECALL ON THE FUEL TANK, #94B48, SO THAT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED THAT I KNOW OF, AND THE FORD DEALER SAID IT WAS EXPIRED!!! PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS, CALL THE JUDGE AND SEE WHAT EVIDENCE HE HAS IF YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH, WE HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT THE TFI-IV MODULE, THAT FORD SHOULD MOVE, AS IT GETS HOT AND SHUTS DOWN THE CAR, EXACTLY WHAT OURS HAS BEEN DOING SINCE 1998. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP OR INFORMATION YOU CAN GIVE US ON THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM WE HAVE BEEN HAVING.*AK
WHENEVER VEHICLE IS AT A STOP OR IDLING, IT WOULD SHUT DOWN. WOULD NOT HAPPEN WHEN MOVING. HAD OIL FILTER & FUEL INJECTORS CLEANED. SERVICE MANAGER HAD TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE TRYING TO DIAGNOSE IT. *AK
FUEL RELAY SHORTED OUT AND MELTED THE CONNECTION TO FUEL PUMP, CAUSING VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING.
PROBLEM WAS THAT THE CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. WE WERE VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE.
POWER SUDDENLY DISAPPEARED AT HIGHWAY SPEED, DIAGNOSED AS ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO LACK OF SPARK CAUSED BY WORN DISTRIBUTOR DRIVESHAFT.
IGNITION KEY IN SWITCH. TURNED KEY, VEHICLE HAD NO POWER. TURNED VEHICLE OFF. KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. HAPPENED AT LEAST 6 OR 7 TIMES. TOOK TO DEALER & MECHANIC REPAIRED IGNITION SWITCH. *AK
LEFT HEADLIGHT WOULD GET MOISTURE INSIDE THE LENS, CAUSING RUST AND INSUFFICIENT LIGHTING. CONSUMER NOTICED ALL LEFT SIDE LENSES ARE ALL IN SAME CONDITION, DEALER HAD NO EXPLANATION. *AK
THIS IS THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN YOUR RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT 93V009000. THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AT MY DEALER, DAMEROW, KNEW OF THE RECALL AND SAID THAT THE DEALER SHOULD REPAIR THE PROBLEM WITHOUT CHARGE. HOWEVER, WHEN I CONTACTED DAMEROW SERVICE, THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM ON FORD'S OASIS REPORT AND SO REFUSED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I CHECKED WITH ANOTHER DEALER. SAME NEGATIVE REPORT. THEN I CALLED FORD. SAME NEGATIVE REPORT. FORD CLAIMS THAT IT HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS RECALL. WOULD YOU PLEASE LET FORD KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL AND ASK THEM TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE IN PARTICULAR? *AK
WHILE DRIVING WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL STICK IS TOUCHED THEY START WORKING AGAIN. THIS COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS THE DRIVER CANNOT SEE AND HAS TO TURN HIS ATTENTION TO PLAYING WITH THE TURN SIGNAL STICK. *AK
WHEN DRIVING OR OPERATING VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR AT A TIME, REGARDLESS OF SPEED, VEHICLE WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE AND STALL. CONSUMER SAID THAT ENGINE COULD BE RESTARTED, BUT IT WILL NOT REMAIN RUNNING. IT IS AN ESTIMATED TIME OF AN HOUR TO PASS BEFORE ENGINE WILL RESTART AND REMAIN RUNNING. DEALERSHIP WILL REPLACE VARIOUS PARTS ON VEHICLE, BUT THEIR ACTIONS WILL NOT CORRECT DEFECT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK

MOTOR MOUNT FAILED CAUSING NOISE.
ENGINE HEAD GASKET BLEW.
SUSPENSION SYSTEM (CAMBER SHIMS) FAILED CAUSING VIBRATION RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO TIRES.
AIR CONDITIONING COMPLETELY FAILED.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL STALL. THE DEALER INFORMED OWNER THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS THE PROBLEM. *AK
AFTER PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THE TRANSMISSION MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND BEGAN TO LEAK. THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD MOVE AFTERWARDS BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE.
RECALL KIT FOR THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH DENIED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS.
RECALL 98I002000.STARTING IN JUNE, THE CONSUMER KEPT EXPERIENCING VIBRATION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION, ALONG WITH CRACKLING NOISES. THE CONSUMER FOUND OUT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE COIL SPRINGS. A RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT TO THE CONSUMER, BUT THERE WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN HE ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER THIS HAPPENED, THE TRANSMISSION HAD BROKEN DOWN, LEAVING VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO LEAK ENGINE COOLANT AND ENGINE OIL FROM EXHAUST/TAIL PIPE. ALSO ENGINE CHECK LIGHT COMES ON. *AK
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH WAS REPLACED AT OWNER'S CHARGE. *AK
GOING 45-50 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY HALTED. THE HALTING LASTED FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, AND CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LURCH FORWARD. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DRIVE AS NORMAL AGAIN. *AK
FORWARD CLUTCH FAILURE.
WHEN THE WINDSHILED WIPERS ARE ON THEY BECOME STUCK, OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW OF THE DRIVER. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
ENGINE GASKET AND OXYGEN SENSOR FAILURES.

RECALL #98-V-009 / MANUFACTURER'S RECALL # 98-S-01, HEADLIGHTS SWITCH; CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND BEEN TRYING TO GET IT HONORED BY LINCOLN/MERCURY HEADQUARTER SENT ON JUNE 10, 98, AND STILL UNABLE TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED OF DEALER NOT HONORING MANUFACTURER'S RECALL NOTICE # 98-S-01, HEADLIGHTS, SENT 10-JUNE-1998, AND INFORMING HER OF NO PARTS. CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER MUST SHE WAIT BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE STOPS. VEHICLE MUST BE PUT INTO PARK TO RESTART ENGINE AGAIN, THE INCIDENT OCCURS ONCE A WEEK. DEALER STATES THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG AFTER A COMPUTER CHECK. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AND OTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTS DONE. ENGINE CONTINUES TO STOP. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE INVOLVED IN RECALL #98V009, HEADLIGHT SWITCH. CONSUMER CONTATCED DEALER TO HAVE VEHICLE REPAIRED AND WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. *AK
VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING HOT. THE DEALER INFORMED OWNER THAT ONE OF THE HEAD GASKETS CRACKED. *AK
DUE TO RUST ON THE OIL PAN TWO BIG HOLES DEVELOPED UNDERNEATH THE OIL PAN WHICH CAUSED AN OIL LEAK WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. *AK *JB
FRONT ENGINE MOUNTS FAILED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO LIFT OUT OF THE ENGINE'S BAY.
PROBLEM 1--ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON; TOOK TO DEALER AND READ CODES--O2 SENSOR FAILING AND TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE. RE TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE, DEALER ADVISED THAT HE WITNESSED SLIPPAGE AND WAS CRACKED PISTON IN TRANSMISSION; ADVISED ME THAT PROBLEM WAS COMMON BECAUSE PISTON WAS ALUMINUM AND ARE BEING REPLACED WITH STEEL PISTONS; NOW HAVING SEVERE PROBLEMS WITH HARSH ENGAGEMENTS; WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT TILL COULDN'T DRIVE ANYMORE BEFORE REPAIR--IF PISTON SHOULD BE STEEL AND NOT ALUMINUM THAT PISTON IS DEFECTIVE AND THAT FORD SHOULD REPAIR AT THEIR COSTS. RE: ENGINE BOLT, HAD TO HAVE ENGINE MOUNT REPAIRED AT COST OF $350--INFO AT THIS SITE SUGGESTS RECALLL WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR COST OF DEFECTIVE BOLT.
