IGNITION LOCK BROKE.
POWER STEERING HOSES ARE LEAKING WHILE DRIVING, NOT A MAJOR LEAK, BUT A FEW DRIPS ON PAVEMENT WHICH WILL GET WORSE IN DUE TIME. DEALER RECOMMENDED COSTLY REPAIRS. *AK
WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED THE SAFETY BELT DOES NOT ROLL BACK, AND THE DOOR CATCHES IT. THE DEALER STATES THAT IT WORKS PROPERLY, BUT IT TAKES TOO LONG TO ROLL IN. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
HEADLIGHTS RETAIN HEAT AND MOISTURE. HOLDS IN HEADLIGHTS, CAUSING THE LIGHTS TO BLOW OUT, PROBLEM CONSTANTLY OCCURS AND THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
RECALL # 98V009000; DEALER DOES NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE TO CORRECT RECALL. OWNER IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH HEADLIGHTS. DEALER TOLD OWNER PARTS COULD BE AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK. *AK
I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION 3 TIMES IN THIS CAR. I AM 57 AND DO NOT "HOTROD" IT. *AK
DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG IS NON-FUNCTIONAL/FAILED.
WHILE PARKED THE SPARE TIRE IN THE WHEEL WELL EXPLODED, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL TO THE RIGHT, AND THE TIRES ARE VERY BALD. CONSUMER HAS THE TIRES ROTATED EVERY 3 TO 5000 MILES AND CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. A LOUD NOISE IS COMING FROM THE STEERING. WHEN CONSUMER IS GOING UP A HILL, THERE IS A VERY LOUD BANGING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE, AND CONSUMER HAD ENGINE HEAD GASKET REPLACED. CONSUMER IS HAVING A LOT OF NOISE PROBLEM. *AK
THE HEAD GASKET LEAKS. ALSO, THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED WHEN ANTI-FREEZE WAS FOUND ON THE OLD OXYGEN SENSOR. MECHANIC STATES THAT THIS IS A SIGN OF A DEFECTIVE HEAD GASKET, IT JUST STARTED TO LEAK. BUT DRIVING WILL MAKE IT WORSE, AND COULD RESULT IN MORE DAMAGE TO HEAD GASKET AND THEN AN ENGINE BLOCK. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET WAS LEAKING ANTI-FREEZE INTO THE ENGINE. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT HIS VEHICLE NOT BEING INCLUDED IN RECALL FOR FORD TAURUS 1993. *AK
HEAD GASKET FAILED THEREBY LEAKING ANTIFREEZE INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSING MAJOR ENGINE REPAIR. FORD MOTORS NOW IS RECALLING 1994 & 1995'S (3.8 V6) FOR A "HEAD GASKET DEFECT" THAT ALLOWS ANTIFREEZE INTO THE ENGINE ....BUT FORD HAS NOT AT THIS TIME EXPAND. *AK
HEAD GASKET BLEW. LOSS OF COMPRESSION. SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE IN EXHAUST- CREATED POLLUTION. MY MECHANIC SAYS THIS MODEL ENGINE HAS BEEN TARGET OF RECALLS FOR BAD HEAD GASKET, BUT DEALER SAYS THAT IS 94 AND 95, NOT 93 MODEL. DEALER CHARGED ME OVER $1100 TO FIX IT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING BOTH FRONT LUGS: NUTS HAVE BROKE OFF FOR NO REASON. PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAT ONCE . ALDO REPLACED FRONT BRAKE PADS/ROTORS. OWNER IS VERY CONCERNED FOR SAFETY. *AK
GLUED REARVIEW MIRROR THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED WITH FELL OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING, CAUSING LOSS OF VISIBILITY. REARVIEW MIRROR COMMONLY USED TO COME SCREWED TO METAL FRAME ABOVE WINDSHIELD, NOW IT COMES ONLY GLUED. *AK
HEAD GASKET BLEW OUT, AND DEALER CHARGED TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY EXPIRED. CONSUMER BELIEVED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING WAY BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT, AND THE DEALER WAS GIVING HIM THE RUN AROUND. *AK WIPER MOTOR STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDOW, DEALER REPLACED MULTI SWITCH. 2 OUTER TIE RODS REPLACED AND SET TOE DUE TO LOOSE STEERING. *SLC
RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED OVER 60 DAYS AGO, AND THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER CANNOT OBTAIN REPLACEMENT PARTS TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
TRANSMISSION - SHORTLY AFTER WE GOT THE VEHICLE, AT LOW SPEEDS 10-15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED LURCHING WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT. THIS PROGRESSED TO WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS 55-65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP ABRUPTLY ON A BUSY INTERSTATE, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A REAR END MULTIPLE CAR COLLISSION. TOOK THE CAR TO 2 DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION PEOPLE, AND THEY SAID THE TAURUS' TRANSMISSION IN ALL VEHICLES IS DEFECTIVE IN THAT IT IS MADE SO THAT THE TRANSMISSION OIL CANNOT GET TO ALL THE PARTS CAUSING BREAKDOWN. THEY BOTH SAID I SHOULD GET RID OF THE VEHICLE AS EVEN IF I PUT A NEW TRANMISSION IN THE VEHICLE, THE NEW ONES ARE MADE EXACTLY THE SAME AND THE SAME PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN. ON NHTSA COMPLAINT DIVISION, I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION, YET THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL. BECAUSE I GOT THE VEHICLE WITH 70000 MILES ON IT, FOR ALL I KNOW THE VEHICLE COULD BE ON ITS 3RD OR 4TH TRANSMISSION. I INQUIRED ABOUT GETTING A USED TRANSMSSION, AND BOTH REPAIR MEN LAUGHED AND SAID GOOD LUCK, EVERY TAURUS STILL OPERATING HAS HAD OR NEEDED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AND THUS THERE ARE NO USED TRANSMISSIONS AVAILABLE. THE CAR BUCKS AND JERKS CONSTANTLY AND VIOLENTLY EVEN AT LOW SPEEDS AND BECAUSE OF THE ABRUPT DOWNSHIFT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE, AND SO DO NOT DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY. THE WINDOW SHIELD WIPERS FAIL AT THE WORST TIMES - SUCH AS DURING A DOWNPOUR WHEN YOUR'RE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT NIGHT, THEY WILL COMPLETELY STOP WITH NO WARNING, MAKING VISIBILITY IMPOSSIBLE TO EVEN GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP. I ALSO FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS ON THE NHTSA COMPLAINT SITE, YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE ON THIS. ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE HAS A LOT OF MILES ON IT, THE NHTSA COMPLAINT SITE INDICATES THAT NUMBEROUS PERSON HAD TRANSMISSION COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME TYPE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW (BACK IN 1993) AND I FEEL FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *AK
HEAD LIGHT SWITCH FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE.
ENGINE HEAD GASKET, BLEW OUT, CAUSING WATER AND ANTI-FREEZE TO LEAK.
CONSUMER WAS AT COMPLETE STOP,HEARD LOUD EXPLOSION TYPE NOISE COMING FROM RIGHT FRONT OF VEHICLE, CAUSING THE FLOORBOARD TO SHAKE, FRONT COIL SPRING HAD POPPED OUT OF POSITION. DEALER REPLACED COIL SPRING. *AK
MY ENGINE MOUNTS WENT ON OR AROUND APRIL 1998 AND THEN AGAIN THIS OCTOBER. MY STARTER HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES SINCE APRIL.

THE FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS WERE BROKEN CAUSING FAILURE. THE STATE INSPECTOR NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN THE BRAKES WERE TESTED. ENGINE WAS HITTING AGAINST THE INSIDE OF VEHICLE. HAD NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIR AS PART OF A RECALL ON THE REAR MOTOR MOUNTS. *ML
TRANNY AND ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACE AT 96,000 MILES
LEFT REAR SWAY BAR LINK BROKE OFF VEHICLE.

I HAD THE GASKETS REPLACED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME WAS AT 124239 MILES BECAUSE OF BURNING OIL. THE SECOND TIME WAS AT 163227 MILES BECAUSE COOLANT WAS MIXING WITH OIL. *AK
THE MOTOR MOUNTS BECAME SO SLOPPY THAT THE ENGINE MOVEMENT YANKED THE AIR CONDITIONER PLUMBING AROUND UNTIL SEVERAL LEAKS OCCURRED. THE NEW MOTOR MOUNTS ARE NOW LOOSING UP ENOUGH THAT IN REVERSE, SOMETHING BUMPS UP AGAINST THE FIREWALL AND UN-DAMPENED ENGINE SOUND PASS RIGHT INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.*AK
HEAD GASKET FAILED.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED IN THE RAIN AFTER CAR SET IN A PARKING LOT FOR TWO HOURS. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY ISSUE OF DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND LOSING WIPERS. *AK
HEAD GASKETS BLOWED OIL WAS CHANGED EVERY 3,000. MILES, WATER KEPT A CHECK ON WAS DRIVING HOME ON INTERSTATE WITH 2 YEAR OLD CHILD WHEN MOTOR STARTED RUNNING HOT, PULLED OVER COOLED OFF, CHECKED WATER IT EAS FINE, DROVE ON, WHEN GOT HOME WAS HOT AGAIN. THEY HAVE RECALLED 94 AND UP MOTORS SAME AS MINE, MAKES IT VERY QUESTIONABLE AS TO WHY 93 WAS NOT RECALLED. SPENT $2,000. DOLLARS TO FIX EVERYTHING. (LOTS OF MONEY TO SOME PEOPLE). OTHER PROBLEM IS SWITCH THAT TURNS WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON AND OFF, WORKS SOME TIMES, SOMETIMES DOESN'T. WILL COST OVER 200. DOLLARS TO FIX (KIND OF HIGH) , BUT HAS TO BE FIXED TO KEEP FROM WRECKING.
ENGINE HEAD GASKETS WERE DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE RECALL NOTICE GIVEN WAS FOR FORDS AFTER 1994, MINE IS A (3.8L ENGINE)TAURUS. I BELIEVE IT TO BE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS THE 1994 MODELS. *AK
RADIATOR AND HEAD GASKET LEAKING, CONSUMER FEELS SHE SHOULD BE COMPENSATED SINCE FORD KNOWS ABOUT GASKET PROBLEMS WITH 1994 MODEL YEARS. NLM
HEAD GASKET FAILURE!! FORD WILL NOT ADMIT DEFECT. NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO 94-95 RECALL
THIS HAS BEEN A VERY TROUBLE-PRONE CAR. CRUISE CONTROL WOULD STICK ON ACCELERATE AND COULD NOT BE DISABLED WITHOUT TURNING OF THE IGNITION. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER COSLTY REPAIRS ABOUT WHICH WE COMPLAINED TO FORD WITH NO REMEDIES OFFERED. THIS COMPLAINT REGARDS THE HEAD GASKETS ON OUR 1993 FORD TAURUS WHICH FAILED AT 93600 MILES. IT COST $1319 TO REPAIR (DATE: 3-16-98). THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THIS IS COMMON IN THE 3.8L EINGINE. WE KNOW THAT FORD HAS PARTIALLY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND HAS EXTENDED WARRANTIES BACK TO THE 1994 MODELS, BUT THE PROBLEM EXTENDS TO EARLIER MODEL YEARS.
WHILE DRIVING THE LOWER A-FRAME BRACKET SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE TIE ROD TO BECOME WARPED , AND THE RACK AND PINION STEERING TO REAR DOWN. THE DELEAR HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
I WOULD BE GLAD TO E-MAIL COPIES OF LETTERS IN WHICH I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. THEIR 2/00 RECALL REGARDING THE HEAD GASKET DESIGN FLAW IN THE 1.8L V-6 ENGINE DOESN'T INCLUDE THE 1993 - THE SAME ENGINE DESIGN. FORD WON'T EVEN GIVE ME A WRITTEN RESPONSE TO MY WRITTEN LETTERS; THEY HAVE THE LOCAL FORD DEALER CALL ME. I DIDN'T BEGIN TO TELL YOU ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT HAVE GONE WRONG MONTHLY (THE LATEST? IT'S AUGUST AND I HAVE NO AIR CONDITIONING). I HAD TAKEN THE TRANSMISSION IN WHILE UNDER 75M EXTENDED WARRANTY-IT WAS ALREADY HAVING PROBLEMS, BUT THERE WAS NO "FIX". THE BLOWN HEAD GASKET WAS ABOUT 5M MILES PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE ADDITIONAL DATA. THANKS. *AK

CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR RECALL REPAIR OF HEADLIGHTS. WHILE DOING THE REPAIRS, MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR SUB-FRAME MOUNTS WERE BROKEN. CONSUMER THEN HAD THE DEALER CHECK FOR RECALL ON THE REAR SUB-FRAME MOUNTS. DEALER SAID THAT ALL VEHICLE'S PRODUCED AFTER JULY 1996, WERE COVERED BY THE RECALL FOR BROKEN REAR SUB-FRAME MOUNTS, AND THAT THE RECALL WAS GOOD UP TO 6 YEARS OR 60,000 MILES. 98V-009000. *AK
FAILED LINK BOLT RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE IN TWO, LEAVING NO SWAY BAR SUPPORT AT RIGHT REAR.
DRIVER MADE LEFT TURN AND PASSED OUT, VEHICLE HIT POWER POLE. BOTH AIR BAGS ACTIVATED. HOWEVER, DRIVER SUFFERED BROKEN LEFT ARM/3 BROKEN RIBS, AND MASSIVE BRUISING ALL OVER UPPER TORSO AND SOME HEAD INJURIES.
BROKEN ENGINE MOUNTS. ALSO BROKE EXHAUST PIPE AND WATER HOSE
WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL THERE IS ALOT OF VIBRATION. ALSO, THERE IS A LEAKAGE COMING FROM UNDER THE ENGINE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER , AND THE DEALER CAN'T FIND THE PROMBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINING OF MANUFACTURER'S KNOWN DEFECT IN THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH CONTROLS THE SPEED/ AIR BAGS AND HORN. THE DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING WOULD CAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL NOT TO RESPOND TO DEACTIVATE THE SPEED CONTROL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED, AND WILL NOT REPAIR WITHOUT COST TO THE CONSUMER . *AK
