RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROAD. HAD IT REPAIRED AT LOCAL NEARBY SERVICE STATION. RIGHT TIE ROD WAS RUINED TOO. THIS SPRING HAD BEEN REPLACED BY THE FORD DEALER AS PART OF A SAFETY RECALL IN 1998. *NM
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT A PISTON FAILED WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT. *AK *NLM
TIRES EXPLODED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.*AK
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *JB
FRONT COIL SPRINGS FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING.
I HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED AND AFTER ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS THE ROTORS WARP CAUSING PREMATURE PAD WEAR. I HAD TO THE REPLACE PADS AND ROTORS AT LEAST 2 TIMES A YEAR. *JB
AFTER THE RECALL FOR THE HEADLIGHTS WAS PERFORMED, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. RECALL # 98 V 009 000 *JB
CAR WILL DRIVE WHEN TRANSMISSION FLUID GETS HOT & JUMP OUT OF DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL.
MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED. STEERING PINS REPLACED 4 DAYS AFTER MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED, THE CAR CATCHES ON FILE FROM AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. I DROVE THE CAR 1 TIME AFTER IT WAS OUT OF THE SHOP. 11 HOURS AFTER I DROVE IT, THE WHOLE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE FROM AN ELECTRICAL SHORT

HEAD GASKET FAILURE RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE
ANTI-FREEZE LEAKED ONTO THE ENGINE.*JB
HEATER BLEW OUT COLD AIR - HAD TO HAVE HEAD GASKETS REPLACED ON 1993 FORD TAURUS. DROVE THE CAR ABOUT 20 MILES AND ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISE - HAD TO HAVE ROD BEARINGS REPLACED. I WAS TOLD BY FORD SERVICE MECHANIC THAT THERE ARE VERY COMMON PROBLEMS WITH THE 3.8 L ENGINES. *NLM
THE HEAD GASKET FAILED TWICE AFTER 2,000 MILES, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*JB
BLOWN HEAD GASKET ON 1993 FORD TAURUS WITH 3.8L ENGINE WITH 63,890 MILES. TOTAL REPAIR $2008.12. *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT THERE IS SOME CORROSION UNDER THE VEHICLE. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
SUSPENSION FEELS SHAKY AS WELL AS TRANSMISSION. KEY LOCK IS FAULTY. I HAVE HAD ENGINE PROBLEMS AS YOU CAN SEE WITH HEAD GASKET AND TIMING COVER GASKET. ALSO I HAD TO REPLACE CIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER BUT AIR CONDITIONER NEVER WORKED.
FORD TAURUS HEATER STARTED BLOWING COLD AIR AND A CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE REAR EXHAUST PIPE WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. LIMP INTO DEALER WHO SAID THE HEAD GASKET IS SHOT WHICH IS COMMON ON THE 3.8L V6 ENGINES IN FORDS. MENTIONED TO THE DEALER THAT I ONLY HAD 63,890 MILES ON THE CAR AND HE SAID THAT'S WHEN THEY USUALLY START TO GO. PAID TOTAL OF $2008.12 FOR REPAIR INCLUDING NEW RADIATOR WHICH THEY SAID I NOW NEED AFTER PUTTING IT ALL BACK TOGETHER BECAUSE THE CAR WAS LEAKING COOLANT WHICH IT HAD NOT BEFORE I GOT CAR HOME AFTER BEING ALL FIXED AND IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT. RETURNED BACK TO FORD AND THEY FORGOT TO TIGHTEN A HOSE. I BELIEVE THE ORGINAL RADIATOR WAS FINE THE HOSE WAS NOT TIGHTENED ENOUGH IN THE FIRST PLACE. *JB
RT FROUNT LOWER CONTROLL ARM ASSEMBLY- FROM MILEAGE OF APPROX. 63000 TO PRESENT, 112,000, THE LOWER CONTROLL ARM ASSEMBLY HAS HAD TO BE REPALCED 3 TIMES AND RETORKED 1. I ALSO HAD TO PAY FOR REALIGNMENT AT EACH REPAIR. NOW AFTER THE 3RD REPLACEMENT THE CAR SHIMMIES AND PULLES TO THE LEFT, WHICH IT DID NOT DO BEFORE REPAIR. THE DEALER MORE OR LESS TOLD ME TOO BAD. ONE OF THE REPAIRS WAS NOT DONE BY FORD THERE FOR NOT RELIABLE. THIS CAR HAS A FILE 2 INCHES THICK FROM MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS. THERE STILL ISN'T ANY EXPAINATION OF WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM.

THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING. *NLM *DT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE AT AN INTERSECTION. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED WHILE GOING DOWN A HILL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON, AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKED WHEN SHIFTED. THE AIR MASS FLOW SENSOR AND IDLE AIR CONTROL WAS REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE MLP TRANSMISSION SENSOR, AND FOUND THE LEVER BOLT BROKEN WHERE IT PASSED THROUGH THE SENSOR. *SCC

CONSUMER HAD A RECALL PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO ON THE UNIBODY BOLTS AND WASHERS, AND THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED SINCE THE VEHICLE HAD ALREADY BEEN FIXED UNDER THE RECALL THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD DO TS.*JB CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE IMPROPERLY. THERE WAS ALSO SOME DETERIORATION OF THE SUBFRAME. *JG
I HAVE HAD AN INVISIBLE COOLANT LEAK FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS. I HAVE REPLACED ALL THE HOSES AND THE THERMOSTAT THREE TIMES. THIS WEEK THE CAR OVERHEATED AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET ADN DISCOVERED FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE 1998. FORD HAS TAKEN STEPS TO REPAIR VEHICLES FROM THE 1994 AND 1995 MODEL YEARS, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE FOR THE 1993 MODEL YEAR. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, RECEIVED COURTEOUS SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO FOR ME. DT

CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAS A BROKEN COIL SPRINGS RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE VIBRATION ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND EXCESSIVE "BOUNCING" OF THE SUSPENSION. MR
THIS VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 98V009000). THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED 15 TIMES AND STILL HAS MADE NO EFFORT TO REPLACE THIS RECALLED PART. WILL CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY NEXT. DT
THE VEHICLE?S HEAD GASKET LEAKED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE HEAD GASKET WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE DEALER EITHER REPLACE THE ENGINE OR REPLACE THE GASKET. *YH
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE RECEIVEDE RECALL REGARDING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER OPENING. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS TO DIM FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HAD THE SAME FAILURE, BUT FORD STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 130,000, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITH NO WARNING HEAD GASKET BLEWOUT, CAUSING VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. CONSUMER WILL HAVE TO PULL OVER TO LET THVEHICLE COOL DOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
BRAKE LINE RUPTURED DUE TO CORROSION. BRAKE WARNING LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. BRAKE PEDAL DESCENDED TO THE FLOOR WITH NO WARNING. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE FAILED AT THE BEND CROSSING RIGHT REAR SUBFRAME DUE TO CORROSION. THE OTHER DIAGONAL BRAKING SYSTEM WAS INOPERATIVE. ALL BRAKE FLUID DRAINED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER. *SCC
THE CAMPAIGN STATES THAT REGISTERED OWNERS IN CERTAIN STATES WERE NOTIFIED OF THIS DEFECT. MY FATHER, THE ORIGINAL OWNER, WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. OF COURSE, FORD SAYS HE WAS AND SAYS THE US POSTAL SERVICE FAILED. SINCE MY FATHER LIVES IN FLORIDA, I DOUBT THAT HE WAS EVER NOTIFIED. HOW CAN THIS DEFECT BE TRANSFERRED TO ME, THE NEXT OWNER, IF THE ORIGINAL OWNER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED? I THINK FORD SHOULD REPLACE THE BROKEN COIL SPRING, FREE OF CHARGE. THEY ARE REFUSING BECAUSE IT IS PASSED THE DATE (I HAVE BEEN TOLD 2 CONFLICTING END DATES - 12/31/01 AND 7/4/02.) EITHER WAY THEY WILL NOT PAY AND I WOULD LIKE TO DISPUTE.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY TEMPERATURE GAUGE WENT UP HIGH INTO THE RED ZONE, AND VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT. ALSO, THERE WAS WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE.*AK *YH
ENGINE STOPPED WORKING DUE TO THE HEAD GASKET FAILURE. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
HEADLIGHT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THEN CAME BACK ON. RECALL WAS DONE 2 YEARS AGO, DEALER REPLACED THE MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH.*JB CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL, THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL BOX WAS REPLACED, AND THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS NOT WORKED FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS.*JB

WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH VEHICLE BECAME HARD TO STEER, IT SWAYED TO THE RIGHT. RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING HAD BROKEN. BEFORE BEING TOWED TO DEALER, WHILE PARKED, LEFT COIL SPRING BROKE. THERE IS A RECALL BUT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT AFFECTED DUE TO VIN. *AK
REAR SEAT BROKE FROM BRACKET, CAUSING SEAT TO BE REMOVABLE FROM VEHICLE. ALSO, WHEN BRAKING FROM ACCELERATION THE FRONT SEAT MOVES FORWARD W/O WARNING.*AK THE DRIVER SEAT MOVES FORWARD WHEN MAKING A TURN ALSO. *YH

I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR A YEAR AND 1/2, AND HAVE ALREADY PUT MORE MONEY IN TO IT THAN I WILL EVER GET OUT OF IT. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAR TO ANYONE! I WENT THROUGH IN A FOUR WEEK SPAN HAVING THE BRAKES GO OUT, THE MUFFLER FELL OFF. THE HEAD GASKETS BLEW, THE WATER PUMP BROKE AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP WENT OUT. I HATE THIS CAR!! DT

AT FIRST START VEHICLE WOULD JERK, THEN ON 30 APRIL, 2002 SMOKE WAS COMING FROM TAILPIPE. MECHANIC DETERMINED HEADG ASKET WAS BLOWN.*AK
