WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON FOR AWHILE, AND HEAT UP THEY START FLASHING. DEALER HAS FIXED HEADLIGHTS UNDER RECALL 98V009000, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM ENGINE AREA. CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND A SMALL BURST OF FLAMES WERE NOTICED THAT DIED OUT ON THEIR OWN. CAUSE UNDETERMINED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TEMPERATURE GUAGE STARTED GOING UP. AFTER A WHILE VEHICLE LOST WATER, AND ENGINE OVERHEATED. DEALER REPLACED ENGINE HEAD GASKET. *AK
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY EITHER WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS OR TRYING TO ACCEL AFTER STOPPING, AT A LIGHT FOR EXAMPLE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT STALLS AT INTERSECTIONS. HAVE TAKEN IT TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP (NOT WHERE I BOUGHT IT) TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, PAID TO HAVE MANY NEW PARTS INSTALLED, TO NO AVAIL.
I HAVE HAD NUMORUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR
WHILE DRIVING ODOMETER DROPPED FROM 94,000 TO 15,000. DEALER SAYS SOMETHING WAS BURNED OUT ON THE ODOMETER.
INTERMITTENTLY WINDSHIELD WIPERS BECOME INOPERABLE, RESULTING IN POOR VISIBILI DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING DUE TO THE FAULTY ENGINE HEAD GASKETS. ALSO, DEALER REPLACED FAN/ RADIATOR, AND WATER PUMP. HOWEVER, PROBLEM STILL EXISTE, AND DEALER HAD SEEN VEHICLE 7 MORE TIMES. DEALER REPLACED THE GASKETS. BUT THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL STILL CAME ON. ALSO THE VEHICLE STILL OVERHEATED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WOULD STALL OUT. WOULD HAVE NO WARNING. VEHICLE CAN BE RESTARTED. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, WOULD OCCUR MAINLY IN HOT WEATHER. WOULD HESITATE WHILE GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES & TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. FUEL PUMP AND SENSORS WERE REPLACED, BUT PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK
WHILE USING WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON LOW SPEED THEY RUN OKAY. WHEN ON HIGHT SPEED, WINDSHIELD WIPPERS WOULD RUN ON LOW SPEED. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER . *AK
RECALL (98V-323)REPAIR FOR THE ENGINE MOUNT WERE REPAIRED BUT ARE CURRENTLY FAILING AGAIN. *NLM
ENGINE HEAD GASKETS FAILED, CAUSING THE CAR TO OVERHEAT ALSO CAUSED THE RADIATOR TO FAIL CAUSING ALMOST $1300 IN REPAIRS FORD WOULD NOT HELP EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A SERVICE BULLITIN ON THIS PROBLEM. HEAD GASKETS SHOULD NOT FAIL EVER. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS CAR AND HAVE MAINTAINED IT ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL. *AK
THE TURN SIGNAL/WINDSHIELD WIPER CONTROL STALK WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL OFTEN COME TO A STOP ON THEIR OWN. *AK
WHERE DO I START, THIS CAR HAS BEEN A MONEY PIT FROM DAY ONE! THE BRAKES HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED 3 DAYS AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR--SIGNATURE FORD CLAIMED IT WAS ARE FAULT AFTER SOME ARGUMENT THEY FINALLY REIMBURSED US FOR THE BRAKES. WE DISCOVERED A SMALL LEAK, WE FOUND IT TO BE COMING FROM THE HEATER HOSE. WE DECIDED TO TRUST SIGNATURE FORD, THEY CLAIMED THAT WE NEEDED A NEW HEATER HOSE, WATER PUMP AND RADIATOR. WE TOOK ARE CAR BACK TO THE FIRST MECHANIC WHO LOOKED AT IT AND HE SWORE THAT THOSE THINGS WERE NOT LEAKING WHEN THEY LEFT HIS SHOP, NO PROOF THOUGH SO WE HAVEN'T FILED A COMPLAINT AGAINST SIGNATURE FORD. WE HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE HEATER HOSE AND WATER PUMP. WE ARE TAKING THE RADIATOR IN TO BE CHECKED OUT VERY SOON. WE HAD THE STARTER REPLACED AT SIGNATURE FORD, SINCE IT WAS FIXED THE KEYLESS ENTRY STOPPED WORKING. WE'VE HAD THE BRAKES COMPLELY FIXED, THREE TIMES. WE HAVE HAD THE OXYGEN SENSORS REPLACED. THE AIRCONDITIONER WILL NOT WORK, WE WERE TOLD THAT WE NEED A NEW COMPRESSOR AND CLUTCH. THERE IS A SHORT THAT CAUSES A FUSE TO BLOW, RESULITING IN LOSS OF GAUGES. ONE OF THE BACK WINDOWS WILL NOT WORK. THE MOLDING AROUND SAID WINDOW DOES NOT FIT PROPERLY. THE POWER STEERING MAKES A STRANGE NOISE AND SOMETIMES DOES NOT SEEM TO BE WORKING; WE TOOK IT IN TO SIGNATURE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS FINE. WHEN WE FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR THE TIRES THAT WERE ON IT WERE TOO BIG RESULTING IN EXCESSIVE WEAR. THE CURRENT TIRES SHOW SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE INSIDE FRONT PASSANGER TIRE. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN TOTALLY REBUILT, THE TECH. WHO FIXED IT SAID THAT THIS IS TYPICAL OF SHO'S. THE FOG LIGHTS SOMETIMES FAIL. THE LAMP OUT LIGHT COMES ON EVEN WHEN NO LAMP IS OUT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES DURING ACCELERATION. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF AT VARIOUS TIMES. IF WE HAD KNOWN THEN WHAT WE KNOW NOW WE NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. WE CANNOT AFFORD ALL OF THESE COSTLY REPAIRS! *

I WENT TO TRADE IN THE CAR AND THE DEALERSHIP FOUND OUT THAT THE ODOMETER WAS ROOLED BACK BEFORE IT WAS SOLD TO ME. PLEASE ADVISE. *AK
THE WINDSHILD WIPER MOTOR FAILED WHILE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER CAUSING POOR VISIBILITY. NLM
FORD SEEMS TO TREAT HEAD GASKETS AS A MAINTENANCE ITEM. THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE TO THIS PREMATURE FAILURE. THE DEALER HAS BEEN FINE, BIT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN. WHEN I ASKED WHY 1994 TAURUS AND SABLES WERE COVERED AND NOT MY 1993, THE ANSWER WAS PRETTY MUCH THAT IS THE WAY IT GOES. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT HEAD GASKETS SHOULD BLOW AS A MATTER ROUTINE. THIS IS REDICULOUS TO ME. I AM ALSO AN ENGINEER, SO THE PRODUCT FAILURE IS EVEN MORE DISTASTEFUL TO ME. *AK
RECALL # 98V323000 FORD/SUBFRAME CORROSION: AFTER HAVING RECALL CAMPAIGN COMPLETED, SUSPENSION BECAME UNSTABLE AND LOUD NOSIES CAME FROM VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS. ALSO, VEHICLE OVERHEATED BECAUSE OF A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF COOLANT LEAKAGE. OWNER EXPERIENCED NO PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE BEFORE HAVING RECALL CAMPAIGN COMPLETED. THIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FATALITY IN WHICH THE DRIVER WAS KILLED. FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, THE VEHICLE CRASHED PROCEEDED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND STRUCK A TREE HEAD-ON IN FRONT OF A SCHOOL. THE ACCIDENT WAS ALSO INVESTIGATED BY THE CAMILLUS POLICE AND THE ONONDAGA COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT. WE ARE FORWARDING THIS INFO TO YOU BECAUSE WE ARE NOT SURE IF THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THANK YOU. *AK
