HEAD GASKET HAD A LEAK AND OVERHEATED BLOCK, AND CAUSED BLOCK TO WARP. CONSUMER STATED CAR WAS NOT DRIVEABLE. *AK
IN 1998 VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR FRONT COIL SPRING REPAIRS UNDER RECALL 98 V 094 000. DEALER REPAIRED, BUT CURRENTLY CONSUMER HAD FIND OUT THAT FRONT AND REAR COIL SPRINGS ARE BROKEN, AND DEALER WAS NOT TAKING CARE OF SPRINGS.*AK
I BOUGHT MY 1993 FORD TAURUS LX USED. I HAVE NOW HAD TO HAVE THE MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED (3 TIMES) AND THE LOCAL FORD/MERCURY DEALER WILL ON WARRANT THE PARTS FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES WHATEVER COMES FIRST. HOW OR WHY SHOULD THE SAME PART KEEP FAILING AND THE CONSUMER HAVE TO KEEP PAYING THE PRICE TO REPLACE THEM. TO BUY NEW MOTOR MOUNTS AND LABOR TO INSTALL THEM IS ABOUT $425.00 EACH TIME. BLOWN HEAD GASKETS; 1993 3.8 V6 ENGINE, 97,123 MILES, $1,200.00 FIX - ENGINE TEMPERATURE GUAGE OPERATED ERRATICALLY. DEALER (SOERENS FORD, BROOKFIELD, WI) ATTEMPTED DIAGNOSIS AND RETURNED CAR TO OWNER WITH WHITE SMOKE BILLOWING FROM TAIL PIPE; DEALER INFORMED CUSTOMER THAT HEAD GASKETS HAD BLOWN *AK
ENGINE TEMPERATURE LEVER VACILLATES BETWEEN THE HOT AND COLD INDICATORS AND ALSO CONERNS OF WHAT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE HOT AND COLD AIR BLOWING FROM THE HEATING/COOLING VENTS, CONSUMER WAS ADVISED BY MECHANIC THAT THERMOSTAT WAS STUCK,THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER DID NOT ALLEVIATE PROBLEM OF THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE FROM VACILLATING,WAS ADVISED BY MECHANIC THAT THERMOSTAT WOULD PROBABLY STICK AGAIN,CONSUMER WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT GASKETS WERE AT THE BEGINNING STAGES OF FAILING, AS WELL AS HAVING BROKEN ENGINE MOUNTS,AND A LEAKING RADIATOR, NONE OF THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, UPON STARTING VEHICLE NOTICED RIDING ROUGH AND ALSO NOTICED WHITE SMOKE EMITTING FROM TAIL PIPE, CONSUMER WAS GOING TO RETURN VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN.
HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT BULB HOLDERS ARE BRITTLE, BROWN TO BLACK DUE TO BURNING. I HAVE CHECKED 2 OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME TYPE OF HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHTS AND THEY ARE ALSO SHOWING SIGNS OF OVERHEATING AT THE CONNECTION. APPEARS TO BE MUCH THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL ON THE HEADLAMP SWITCH WHICH RESULTED IN A MELTED/ BURNED WIRING CONNECTION.*AK
THE BOTTOM OF BOTH FRONT DOORS IS MADE TO PROJECT TOWARDS THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT INSTEAD OF BEING SQUARED LIKE ALL OTHER CARS. WHEN OPENING EITHER FRONT DOOR, THE AFOREMENTIONED DOOR PROJECTION HITS ME IN THE FRONT OF THE LEG UNLESS I STAND A FAR DISTANCE AWAY. ON 3/1/01 AND3/5/01 I SUSTAINED LACERATIONS ON MY LEG BECAUSE OF THIS IDIOTIC AND HAZARDOUS DOOR DESIGN. PLEASE REQUIRE FORD TO FIX THIS. *AK
MOTOR MOUNTS WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, THEN REPLACED UNDER RECALL, AND REPLACED 1 TIME OWNER PAY.*AK
HEADGASKET BLEWOUT, NO PRIOR NOTICE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING COULD TRY TO MAKE A TURN AND STEERING WHEEL WILL MAKE NOISE. WILL BE HARD TO STEER LIKE IT DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER THAT PROBLEM WAS WITH THE RACK AND PINION STEERING. *AK
VEHICLE WAS COLD AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS HIGH. COOLANT IN RESERVOIR WAS VERY LOW. IT WAS TOWED TO DEALER, AND FOUND THAT TIMING COVER WAS DAMAGED. *AK
SMOKE WAS COMING OUT REAR EXHAUST, CAUSING HEAT TO FAIL AND OVERHEAT. A 1/2 GALLON TO A GALLON WAS BEING ADDED EVERY 100 MILES. DEALER GAVE CONSUMER COLD SHOULDER. CONSUMER WENT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS A BAD GASKET. *AK
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY, IGNITION MODULE REPLACED IN 1998 AND AGAIN IN FEBRUARY 1999. CURRENTLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME. *AK REPLACING THE IGNITION MODULE DOES NOT STOP THE VEHICLE FROM STALLING. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO HELP. *YH
WHILE BACKING UP CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE, THEN, FRONT END OF VEHICLE DROPPED DOWN. RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING HAD BROKEN, THERE IS A RECALL 98I002000, BUT ACCORDING TO FORD THIS VEHICLE NOT AFFECTED. *AK *JB
HEAD GASKET BLOWN AT 95,000 MILES. FORD REFUSED TO FIX, ALTHOUGH IT'S A KNOWN DEFECT.*AK
THE VEHICLE FRONT SPRING BROKE, THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT THIS PROBLEM BE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL NOTICE 98I-002 BUT WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. NLM
TRANSMISSION FAILED CAUSING VEHICLE TO JERK SEVERELY AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING 20 25 MPH FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE ON DRIVERSIDE CAUSED TIRE TO BLOWOUT. *AK
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN DRIVER'S SIDE "FRONT COIL SPRING" FRACTURED AND BROKE. BROKEN SPRING THEN MADE CONTACT WITH TIRE CAUSING A BLOWOUT. CONSUMER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER/DEALER/MECHANIC, WAS TOLD THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY RECALL. *AK *SLC

VEHICLE EXPERIENCED HEATING PROBLEMS, HEAT WOULD FLUCTUATE BETWEEN HIGH NORMAL AND HOT, CONSUMER REPLACED RADIATOR AND THERMOSTAT, SOMETIME LATER PROBLEMS BEGAN AGAIN, THIS TIME REPLACING WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT FOR THE SECOND TIME, HEAT SENSING UNIT, HEAT GAUGE, AND FAN BELT, AGAIN PROBLEMS CAME BACK AND THIS TIME MECHANIC FOUND BLOWN HEAD GASKETS, CONSUMER IS REQUESTING SOME REIMBURSEMENT DUE TO SPENDING MONEY FIXING PARTS THAT WERE NOT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS. *SLC
I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THERE WAS NOTHING DRAMATIC ABOUT IT. I SIMPLY NOTICED THE HEATER IN THE CAR WAS NO LONGER WORKING. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO BE REPAIRED, APPROXIMATELY A WEEK OR TWO LATER, THE DEALER TOLD ME I HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THEY ESTIMATED IT WOULD COST "APPROX. $1400" TO REPAIR IT/THEM. THE WORK REQUEST DOESN'T SPECIFY WHETHER ONE OR BOTH WERE BLOWN, BUT IT DOES SPECIFY THAT BOTH WOULD BE REPLACED. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND THAT IT HAS EXISTED SINCE 1988. HOWEVER, FORD HAS ONLY EXTENDED COVERAGE FOR THIS DEFECT TO CARS FROM 1994 ON. IT WAS ALMOST 1994 WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR, BUT IT IS A 1993 MODEL, AND NOT COVERED, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS IDENTICAL.*AK
STEERING WHEEL TIE ROD BROKE WHILE DRIVING IN RESIDENTIAL STREET. *AK
VEHICLE HAS BLOWN HEADGASKET.*AK
ON 1/22/2001 DURING A ROUTINE SERVICING I WAS TOLD THAT "THERE WAS COOLANT ON THE #4 CYLINDER. POSSIBLE HEAD GASKET." I WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE HEAD GASKET REPLACED SO AS TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE HEAD GASKETS USED IN THIS AND OTHER MODELS OF CARS MANUFACTURED BY FORD, SUCH THAT THE HEAD GASKET OFTEN FAILS AT AROUND 60,000 MILES. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST OF THIS REPAIR. *AK
CAR WAS IN PARK, BUT STILL RUNNING. THEN, IT ALL OF A SUDDEN TOOK OFF . *AK

WHILE DRIVING ENGINE CHECK LIGHT AND TEMPURATURE GAUGE GO UP AND DOWN INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
I SUBMITTED INFORMATION TWO DAYS AGO. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WENT THROUGH OR NOT. IN CASE NOT, I STARTED HAVING HEATING PROBLEMS LAST YEAR AND AFTER REPLACING HEATING COMPONENTS,IE, RADIATOR, TWO THERMOSTATS, TWO HEATING SENSING UNITS, WATER PUMPAND HEAT GUAGE. IT KEPT RUNNING HOT TO THE POINT I WAS SCARED IT WOULD RUIN MY MOTOR. I NEVER RAN IT TO THE BOILING POINT. I FINALLY LEFT IT WITH MY MECHANIC AND AFTER MANY CHECK, HE FINALL FOUND FAULTY HEAD GASKETS WITH A GAS ANALIZER. I HAD THE GASKETS AND NECESSARY COMPONENTS REPLACED. IT IS NOW BACK TO NORMAL. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY MORE PROBLEMS. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW WHY MR. [XXX], MANAGER,VEHICLE SERVICE AND PROGRAMS, FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION DETERMINED BY LETTER THAT ALL 94 AND 95 TAURUS'S WITH 3.8L ENGINES WOULD BE REPAIRED FREE BY THE FORD MOTOR CO.. IF HE WOULD CHECK THE INTERNET FOR 93 TAURUS ,WITH 3.8L ENGINES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. HE SAID HE HOPED THIS PROGRAM WOULD CONFIRM YOUR CONTINUED SATISFACTION IN YOUR FORD-BUILT VEHICLE. THE LETTER ALSO STATED IF YOU REPAIRED YOUR VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS LETTER, YOU WOULD RECEIVE A REFUND. I HAVE BEEN A FORD PERSON ALL MY LIFE. I HAVE TWO NOW. I WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED FAIR. FAILURE OF HEAD GASKETS AT 43,900. FORD HAS RECALLED 4.3 ENGINES IN 1994 AND NEWER VEHICLES UP TO 100,000 MILES ON SEERVICE PROGRAM #98MO1, BUT THEY WILL ONLY OFFER ME A $1,000 CERTIFICATE TOWARDS A NEW CAR FOR THIS FAILURE. THEY HAVE ADMITTED THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WWITH THIS ENGINE BUT THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE. WOLTZ AND WIND HAS OFFERED TO REPAIR MY CAR FOR $1700! I HAVE EXPERIENCED ENGINE STALLING IN HOT WEATHER WHILE ON VACATION IN SOUTH CAROLINA THE LAST TWO YEARS. I JUST READ IN THE PAPER ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA LAWSUIT CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. 3.8 LITER ENGINE, HEAD GASKET FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 92000 MILES, CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK ONTO ENGINE. FORD DOES NOT INCLUDED 1993 MODELS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. *AK *ALSO HEATER CORE WAS BLOWN OUT. *JB
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE FELT LIKE SOMETHING WAS PULLING, SMELLED RUBBER BURNING FROM COIL SITTING ON TIRE, CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND PARKED VEHICLE. MECHANIC SAID CONSUMER HAD TO HAVE HIT A BIG HOLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM OCCUR. CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE NO HOLES HIT AT ALL. *AK BOTH FRONT STRUTS, COIL SPRINGS AND STRUT BEARINGS WERE REPLACED. *YH
VEHICLE HAD HEATING PROBLEM. CONSUMER REPLCAED NUMEROUS PARTS, BUT STILLTHE PROBLEM EXIST. HEAT ANALYZER MACHINE INDICATED FAULTY HEAD GASKET CAUSED THE HEATING PROBLEMS. *YH
THE ENGINE BLEW A HEAD GASKET WHICH ALLOWED ENGINE COOLANT TO ENTER THE CYLINDERS. THIS RESULTS IN BILLOWING WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST. IT ALSO CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE BEARING SURFACES THAT MAY RESULT IN HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. FORD HAS AN EXTENDED WARANTY ON THE SAME ENGINE FOR 1994 & 1995 MODELS BUT THEY DO NOT INCLUDE 1993 ENGINES. IF ITS THE SAME ENGINE I THINK IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED. *AK
FORD DEALER WANTS $3800 TO REPLACE ENGINE, HEAD GASKETS AND VARIOUS OTHER PARTS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE HEAD GASKET FAILURE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CAR OVERHEATS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, CONSUMER HAS TO PULL OVER SO ENGINE WON'T LOCK UP,. THERE IS RECALL 97V019000 ON ENGINE FAN OVERHEATING, BUT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. *AK
BOUGHT THE CAR FROM ESTATE OF DECEASED UNCLE WHO BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM TRAGRESSER, CAR HAD 30,000 MILES. IN JANUARY, 2001 GAVE THE CAR TO MY DAUGHTER JESSICA HOPKINS, TRANS WENT OUT IN FEBRUARY. CAR IS SITTING IN MY DRIVE.NO SAFETY DEFECT. *AK
PREMATURE HEAD GASKET FAILURE AT 55000 MI., EST. REPAIR $1500, DEFECTIVE ENGINE. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET FAILED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO TWO VALVES WITHIN ENGINE. *AK THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REIMBURSE THE REPAIR COSTS. *YH
FORD WILL NOT FIX THE 93 TAURUS. ONLY 94 AND UP TAURUS EVEN THOUGHT THE DEFECT IS THE SAME.
