WATER LEAKS IN CABIN ON PASSENGER SIDE. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME TAKING IT IN AND NOT REALLY BEING REPAIRED PROPERLY. IT IS A 2002 TAURUS BOUGHT BRAND NEW. *TR
DRIVER FRONT SHOCK AND STRUT BROKE AND BLEW THE TIRE. LUCKILY I WAS IN DRIVEWAY JUST LEAVING FOR WORK HAD TO CALL TOW TRUCK TO BRING TO GARAGE FOR REPAIR BEING IT WAS A 2002 VEHICLE THE SCHROAD WAS SUPPOSE TO BE PUT ON THE 2002 VEHICLE AND NEWER, BUT THIS DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING ON IT. SO TIRE BLEW, BUT LUCKILY I WAS NOT GOING 60 MILES A HOUR DOWN THE HWY. WE STILL HAVE THE OLD PARTS FOR PROOF OF DAMAGE. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR NOT ALWAYS WORKING, HUSBAND TOOK APART AND IT WAS ALL CORRODED IN THERE. HE CLEANED IT UP AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS AND STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. AND FINALLY QUIT WE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE IS A RECALL THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID# 04V332000) ON THE 2001 FORD TAURUS BUT NOT FOR THE 2002. THE CONTACT FELT HIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS PART OF THE RECALL. THE PURCHASE DATE OF THE VEHICLE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS FAILED AND PUNCTURED THE TIRES. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, HE DISCOVERED THAT MANY OTHERS EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONTACT PERFORMS MECHANICAL WORK AND WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLE HIMSELF. THE FAILURE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 145,000.
I PURCHASED A 2002 FORD TAURUS SEL NEW FROM SUNNYSIDE FORD IN HOLDEN, MA IN OCT OF 2002 WITH 6 YEAR 60K MILE WARRANTY PLAN. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 54,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED AND IS DRIVEN ONLY BY MY WIFE AND I. A LEFT REAR COIL SPRING SNAPPED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND WAS REPLACED BY DEALER UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. WITH A $50 CO PAY BY ME. TODAY 07/31/07 THE RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING SUDDENLY SNAPPED. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO SUNNYSIDE FORD WHO IS ONCE AGAIN MAKING REPAIRS WITH MY $50 CO PAY UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT IS HIGH TIME THAT FORD MOTOR CO RECALL THESE DANGEROUS 2002 MODEL YEAR TAURUS WITH DEFECTIVE FRONT AND REAR COIL SPRINGS BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED. I AM LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEED WHEN MY SPRINGS SNAPPED. 2002 FORD TAURUS SE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE SPRING SNAPPED. THIS WAS RECALLED IN 1999-2001 FORD TAURUS'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT THE 2002. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS WHEN I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP!! *I COULDN'T FIND FORD ON THE MANUFACTURE SECTION, SO I SELECTED CHRYSLER TO PROCEED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. HE NOTICED THAT DRIVER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE THEY FOUND THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS WERE ALSO BROKEN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE COIL SPRINGS, STRUTS AND STRUTS BEARING. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REIMBURSE FOR THE COST OF THE COIL SPRINGS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE 95,600 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,719. THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOWER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR AND STATED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS WAS BROKEN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WAS 58,486. THE CONSUMER STATED THIS IS THE SECOND COIL SPRING THAT HAS FAILED. THE FIRST TIME THE FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING AND RIPPED THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE. UPDATED 09/06/07 *JB

2002 SES FORD TAURUS. FRONT COIL SPRINGS SNAPPED. SUMMER 2007. AFTER TURNING VEHICLE ON IN GARAGE, PLACE IN REVERSE AND HEARD LOUD BANG AND CAR DROPPED. THE DRIVER SIDE SPRING COIL SNAPPED AND PUNCTURED TIRE. HAD TO HAVE TOWED OUT OF GARAGE. BILL WAS OVER $700. I HAVE READ OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MODEL AND YEAR ON THIS ISSUE. I HAD BOTH FRONT SPRINGS/COILS REPLACED. JUST LAST NIGHT, 2/12/09 WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON SMOOTH SURFACE HEARD LOUD NOISE IN REAR. SAME THING, COIL SNAPPED SHREDDED TIRE. CAR IS CURRENTLY UNDRIVEABLE AND I ALSO LOOKED AT THE OTHER REAR COIL, WHICH ALSO LOOKS SNAPPED. WHY IS FORD NOT RECALLING THE 2002 MODEL WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A MECHANICAL DEFECT? I SEE THEY HAVE RECALLED PREVIOUS YEARS. *TR
2002 FORD TAURUS-THE LEFT FRONT SPRING ON THE STRUT BROKE CAUSING A LOSS OF CONTROL, THE CAR PULL HARD TO THE LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND DAMAGED THE RIM, AXLE, BREAK LINE AND A CONTROL ARM. NO UNUSUAL EVENTS OR ROAD HAZARDS WERE INVOLVED, IT BROKE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I PURCHASE 4 KUMHO 215/60/16 TIRES IN MAY OF 2004 AND HAVE PUT LEAST THAN 20,000 MILES ON THEM WHEN I WENT OUT GET MY CAR INSPECTED THEY SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE "JUNK" EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO BE ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THEY WERE CRACKED AND ONE BELT WAS BROKEN ON THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE- I FEEL THESE TIRES SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST AND ANYONE WHO PURCHASED THEM SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THERE EXPENSES. *TR

I OWN A 2002 FORD TAURUS STATION WAGON THAT THE FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHEN BACKING OUT. I HEARD A NOISE AND THAN AN EXPLOSION WHEN THE FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. THIS WAS THE SAME FAILURE FORD HAD RECALLS FOR 1999 AND 2000 MODELS AS I HAD THOSE CARS. I EMAILED FORD , AND THEY SAID GO TO THE DEALER OR FIX IT YOURSELF. I SPOKE TO A LOCAL DEALER, WHO KNEW OF THE PROBLEM BUT SAID NO RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM FOR MY CAR. I HAVE SINCE HEARD THIS STORY FROM MANY PEOPLE WHO KNEW OTHERS WHO HAD THE SAME FAILURE. I COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN AT 65 MPH DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR BE INJURED BEFORE FORD WAS MADE TO REACT. QUALITY ONE WHAT A JOKE. *AK
2002 FORD TAURUS - I HAVE WATER LEAKING ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR WHEN IT RAINS. IT SEEMS TO COME IN THROUGH A COWL DURING HEAVY RAIN. THE PASSENGER FLOOR COLLECTS WATER FROM UNDER THE GLOVE BOX AND THE BLOWER AREA. THE FORD DEALER TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS PROBLEM. ALSO, THE DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM ,AND FORD EVEN HAD A MODIFIED PART TO CONTROL THE LEAKING, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THE ESTIMATE WAS OVER $200 AND NO GUARANTEE. THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED. THIS WAS A DEFECT IN DESIGN AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY FORD. *AK
APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MONTHS AGO I FOUND BOTH REAR SUSPENSION SPRINGS BROKEN, SO I REPLACED THEM. ON 06-15-2007, UPON ENTERING THE CAR, THE FRONT-LEFT SUSPENSION SPRING SNAPPED. FORD INDICATED NO RECALLS COVER THE SPRING(S). *TR
TOOK THE 2002 TAURUS TO THE FORD DEALER WITH AN OIL LEAK ISSUE TO HAVE IT CORRECTED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. WAS INFORMED BY SERVICE MANAGER THAT ALONG WITH THE OIL LEAK THE CAR ALSO HAD A BROKEN REAR COIL SPRING. WHEN QUESTIONED AS TO WHY THAT SHOULD BE A PROBLEM AT 44,000 MILES THE SERVICE MANAGE R HAD NO EXPLANATION. ALSO, HE INDICATED THAT THIS REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT WAS MY BELIEF THAT THE SPRINGS WERE CHECKED SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE IT WAS KNOWN THAT THEY HAD A RECORD OF FAILURE. THE SERVICE MANAGE R WAS AWARE FROM THE BEGINNING THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I DID PROVIDE THE AUTHORIZATION TO HAVE BOTH REAR SPRINGS REPLACED, AND PAID FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WHICH WAS ALSO RECOMMENDED. HOWEVER, I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD TAURUS. *AK
FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE BACKING CAR IN DRIVEWAY - PUNCTURED AND DESTROYED DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WHICH WAS BRAND NEW
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR COIL SPRING WAS OBSERVED TO BE BROKEN DURING A MAINTENANCE CHECK. THE REAR RIGHT STRUT MOUNT BROKE AFTER THE SPRING REPLACEMENT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT EXTRA COST. *AK
FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE UNEXPECTEDLY, DESTROYING FRONT RIGHT TIRE AND REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF TIRE, COILS, STRUTS AND MOUNTS PLUS ALIGNMENT. THE COST OF REPAIRS CAME TO $859.61. *AK
ON MY WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING TAKING THE SAME ROADS I TRAVEL EVERYDAY. I HEARD A THUD FROM THE REAR OF MY CAR I IMEDIATLY PULLED OVER LOOKED AROUND AND UNDER THE CAR AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE TO WORK AND CONTINUED ON THE LAST 1/2 MILE OR SO. AFTER WORK I PULLED THE LEFT REAR TIRE OFF IN THE PARKING LOT EXPECTING TO FIND A BROKEN BRAKE SPRING. WHAT I FOUND WAS THE MAIN SPRING ON THE REAR STRUT HAD BROKEN, DROPPED DOWN AND PUT A GROVE INTO THE BACK OF MY BRAND NEW TIRES WITH LESS THAN 500 MILES ON THEM. I PUT THE SPARE (DONUT) TIRE ON AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME (APROX 35 MILES). I PLANNED TO ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THIS MYSELF BUT AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THIS IS VERY COMMON AND THAT FORD IS NOT STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE AND HELPING PEOPLE TO SOLVE THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WILL TAKE THIS TO A MECHANIC ON FRIDAY TO BE REPAIRED AND HAVE THEM CHECK THE OTHER THREE SPRINGS FOR FAILURES. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED FORDS BUT UNLESS I HERE FROM SOMEONE REGARDING THIS ISSUSE IT MAY BE MY LAST AMERICAN BUILT AUTO.
I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD AND HEARD A RATTLING SOUND, I THEN HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT MY CAR, AND HE FOUND A BROKEN FRONT SPRING ON PASSENGER'S SIDE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING FAILED AND PUNCTURED HER FRONT TIRE. THE ENGINE FAILED SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED WITH THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE SPRINGS WERE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED BY THE DEALER, EVEN THOUGH ONLY ONE OF THEM FAILED. THE COST TO REPAIR THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WAS $800. DURING AN OIL CHANGE TWO WEEKS AGO, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRINGS FAILED. THE REAR SPRINGS AND STRUTS WERE REPLACED FOR $650. THE CONTACT CAN PROVIDE INVOICES FOR THE REPAIRS THAT WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 88,100 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
DRIVER SIDE REAR COIL SPRING SNAPPED, WEDGING AGAINST TIRE. FORTUNATELY THE CAR WAS TRAVELING UNDER 10MPH AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. *TR

2002 FORD TAURUS THAT I HAD AS A COMPANY LEASED VEHICLE, AND HAVE EVERY RECORD ON SINCE IT ENTERED SERVICE UNTIL NOW, THAT HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED PREVIOUSLY, HAD A RIGHT FRONT SPRING FAILURE WHEN TURNING A CORNER AT A VERY LOW SPEED. THE SPRING LOOKS LIKE IT HAD A METAL FATIGUE CRACK IN IT, AND IT BROKE, TEARING A 12 INCH GASH IN THE SIDEWALL OF THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. THIS HAPPENED AT LESS THAN 5 MPH, WHICH IS FORTUNATE, BECAUSE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE LED TO A POTENTIALLY FATAL CRASH. REPAIRED WITH OLD SPRING FROM SALVAGE VEHICLE. I HAVE THE OLD PART THAT FAILED. *TR
DURING ROUTINE INSPECTION MECHANIC FOUND BROKEN RIGHT REAR SPRING. CAR ONLY HAS 45100 MILES ON IT. REPLACED BOTH REAR SPRINGS AND STRUTS. *TR

I WAS BACKING MY CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE. RIGHT FRONT SPRING SHATTERED, SHOOTING DOWN INTO AND PUNCTURING THE TIRE. I HAD THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY OR EVEN ON A SIDE STREET, THE POTENTIAL THAT MY WIFE AND KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IS QUITE PROBABLE. PER THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER, THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD TAURUS. IF SO, GIVEN THE POTENTIAL SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE INVOLVED, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL? *TR

I OWN 2002 FORD TARUS. WHILE BACKING CAR OUT OF DRIVEWAY HEARD A ODD SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. AS I WAS STOPPING THE CAR THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE EXPLODED. I REALLY WAS NOT SURE WHAT HAD HAPPENED SINCE I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 2 MPH. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED, AS I WALKED AROUND THE FRONT OF THE CAR, SAW THAT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS FLAT. I WAS NOT REALLY SURE WHAT TO MAKE OF THE SITUATION, SO I BEGAN TO PREP THE CAR FOR A TIRE CHANGE. AS I WAS LOOSENING THE TIRE SOMETHING JUST DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. WHEN I PULLED THE TIRE OFF I WAS IN SHOCK. IT WAS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENED TO THIS CAR ABOUT SEVEN MONTHS AGO. THE COIL SPRING ON THE RIGHT FRONT BROKE, AND TOOK OUT A ONE MONTH OLD TIRE IN THE PROCESS. I HAD THE SPRING ON THE LEFT SIDE REPLACED ABOUT SEVEN MONTHS AGO. MY BLOOD RAN HOT! I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN, THEY WERE IN THE CAR WITH ME, BOTH TIMES. AS OF RIGHT NOW THE CAR IS STILL UNDER A EXTENDED WARRANTY AND IS BEING REPAIRED. THESE CARS ARE NOT SAFE FOR A MONKEY TO DRIVE, AFTER ALL THAT IS WHO BUILDS THEM. I HAVE CHECKED OUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS AND LETS JUST SAY THAT THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. IT HAPPENED IN 1999,2000,AND IN 2001. BUT FORD STILL CLAIMED THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE 2002 MODELS. THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING THAT JUST NEEDS CHECKED OUT, THIS IS NOT A WINDSHIELD WIPER ISSUE, OR A TRUNK LID ISSUE, THIS IS A GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND THEN YOUR DEAD ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE WAS DEFLATED AND EXHIBITED A PUNCTURE AS A RESULT OF THE FRACTURED COIL SPRING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. 2002 FORD, TAURUS HAD BROKEN RIGHT FRONT SPRING. *AK
THE LEFT REAR COIL SPRING ON THE 2002 FORD TAURUS FRACTURED TWO DAYS AGO. THE CAR ONLY HAS 31,249 MILES ON IT. NOT ONLY DID THE COIL SPRING BREAK, WHICH IN TURN, SEVERELY DAMAGED LEFT FRONT TIRE, IT ALSO CAUSED THE SUSPENSION TO DROP, DAMAGING THE REAR STRUTS. THE RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING WAS ALSO RUSTED AND BREAKING APART. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS, BOTH REAR STRUTS, LEFT REAR TIRE ,AND HAD TO HAVE AN ALIGNMENT. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT SINCE THE CAR WAS A 2002 MODEL YEAR IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE NHTSA RECALL # 04V332000 / FORD TAURUS 1999-2001 REGARDING COIL SPRINGS, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM. I FELT THAT FORD WAS LIABLE TO COVER ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE BREAKAGE. NHTSA WAS INVESTIGATING AT THIS MOMENT OVER 131 COMPLAINTS RECEIVED OF REAR COIL SPRING FRACTURE IN THE TAURUS 2001 AND 2002 MODELS. REVIEW OF LITERATURE INDICATED THAT DEFECTIVE COIL SPRINGS ON 1992-2004 AEROSTAR, FOCUS, SABLE, TAURUS, AND WINDSTAR MODELS MAY SUDDENLY BREAK, PUNCTURING THE FRONT TIRE , AND LEADING TO LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. UNDER SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN NEGOTIATED WITH NHTSA FORD SHOULD REPLACE BROKEN COIL SPRINGS AT NO CHARGE UP TO 10 YEARS/UNLIMITED MILEAGE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING NO MORE THAN 25 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING RUBBER AND THEN HEARD A TIRE POP. HE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED HIM THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRINGS FAILED AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE. THE COIL SPRINGS WERE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE YEAR LATER WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRINGS. HE CALLED FORD AND WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL ON HIS MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE; HOWEVER, HIS VIN AND YEAR WERE NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 121,000.
I ENTERED THE VEHICLE (2002 FORD TAURUS), TURNED THE IGNITION, PUT IT INTO REVERSE, MOVED BACK APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES, AND HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND. I REALIZED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. AFTER CALLING A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE THE TIRE OFF (LUG NUTS WERE SCREWED ON MUCH TOO TIGHT TO BE TAKEN OFF BY HAND), HE IMMEDIATELY DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE FLAT TIRE AS HE REMOVED PART OF THE BROKEN COIL SPRING BY HAND. IT WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR THE DAMAGED SPRING AND STABILIZER LINK WAS $335.

ON APRIL 25 2007 STARTED THE 2002 FORD TAURUS PASSENGER SEDAN VECHICLE IN GARAGE AQND IMMEDIATELY HEARD A HORRENDOUS EXPLOSION NOISE . IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE FRONT LEFT TIRE DEFLATED. I THOUGHT THAT THE EXPLOSIVE TYPE NOISE WAS EXCESSIVELY HIGH . ALSO, THOUGHT T I HAD A BAD TIRE THAT BLEW OUT. I CALLED AAA TO CHANGE MY TIRE THAT EVENING,AND AAA MECHANIC REALIZED HE COULD NOT GET THE TIRE OFF THE CAR AND LOOKED UNDER WITH FLASHLIGHT TO SEE WHY. HE SAID THAT HE REASON HE COULD NOT GET THE TIRE OFF THE CAR WAS BECASUE THE SPRING BROKE AND WAS EMBEDDED INTO THE FRONT TIRE. HE HANDED ME THE TOP OF THE SPRING THAT WAS BROKEN. *AK UPON THE ORDEAL FO GETTING CAR OUT OFGARAGE AND TO FORD MUZI DEALERSHIP/SERVICE DEPARTMENT, I WAS INFORMED BY THE SEVERAL OF THE FLATBED DRIVERS THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH FORD TAURUS AND THEY HAD SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. I WAS FURTHER INFORMED BY THE DRIVERS THAT FORD HAD RECALLED OTHER YEARS OF THIS MODEL. ONE HE DRIVER SAID HE HAD ONE INSTANCE OF A 2002 MODEL ON THE HIGHWAY ALSO., I CONSULTED WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER WHO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FORD TAURUS AND THAT OTHER YEARS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT THE 2002. UPON REVIEW OF THE NHTS INFORMATION THE 1999 , 2000 , AND 2001 FORD TAURUS SEDANS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME THING THAT HAS JUST HAPPENED TO MY CAR. THIS IS INDEED A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THIS 2002 FORD TAURUS AND MOST DEFINELY COULD HAVE CAUSED MY DEATH AS WELL AS OTHERS IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, OR ANYWHERE ELSE.WITH FAST SPEEDS I AM SURE THIS CAR WOULD HAVE TURNED OVER INSTANTANEOUSLY AS IT HAPPENDED SO FAST, A MATTER OF LESS THAN 1-2 MINUTES FOR THE TIRE TO DELFATE. ON 4/2/10 I REPLACED THE BACK SPRINGS WITH A QUICK STRUT ASSEMBLY DO TO CAR SAGGING AND THE RIGHT REAR SPRING WAS BROKE SLOWLY DIGGING IN TO MY TIRE. I KNOW OF A FEW OTHERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I JUST HAPPEN TO COME ACROSS THIS SITE AND THOUGHT I WOULD POST.
