I OWN A 2002 FORD TAURUS WHICH I BOUGHT FROM MY FATHER. IT ONLY HAS 27320 MILES. ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2005, I HAD TROUBLE STARTING THE CAR. ONCE STARTED, IT WOULD NOT RUN VERY LONG. LUCKILY, I WAS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM A FORD DEALER. I LEFT IT TO BE CHECKED. THE DEALER CALLED AND SAID THE FUEL PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS COST ME $100 DEDUCTIBLE SINCE IT WAS PAST THE TIME LIMIT OF THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY BUT UNDER THE MILEAGE. I OWN A 2001 MERCURY SABLE WITH 65000 MILES, ON ITS 3RD FUEL PUMP AND I ALSO OWN A 2002 FORD TAURUS WITH 27000 MILES, ON ITS 2ND FUEL PUMP. *JB
DRIVING ALONG THE INTERSTATE AT 74 MPH AND THE CAR STARTED HESITATING AND SURGING AND THEN WE LOST COMPLETE POWER; NO GAS PEDAL AND NO STEERING. THE TERRAIN WAS ROLLING HILLS. WE HAD JUST UNDER A HALF A TANK OF GAS. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE IT JUST WENT INTO THESE SYMPTOMS. IT HAPPENED FOUR MORE TIMES AS WE WERE DRIVING BEFORE WE COULD GET IT TO OUR DEALER. EACH TIME WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAIT ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND TRY TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND TRAVEL ABOUT 15 MILES. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE SYMPTOMS AND THEY REPLACED MY "IN LINE FUEL FILTER" YF1Z-9155-CA(FILTER 1767). *JB
I HAVE A 2002 FORD TAURUS.. STARTING SHAKING WHILE DRIVING AT 8,500 MILES. TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY STATED ROTORS WERE WARPED AND REPLACED THEM. AT APPROX 18,000 MILES THEY WARPED AGAIN. FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE WARRANT SO I ENDED UP PAYING TO HAVE THEM RESURFACED. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE AND ENDED UP GETTING REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR. I'M NOW AT 28,000 MILES AND THEY ARE SHOT, UNABLE TO BE RESURFACED AND MUST BE REPLACED. NEEDLESS TO SAY I'M NOT GOING TO DEAL WITH FORD ANY LONGER AND WILL REPLACE WITH A HIGHER QUALITY AFTER MARKET PRODUCT. I HAVE FOUND AND EXORBANENT AMMOUNT OF OTHER TAURUS OWNERS ONLINE THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD LOOK INTO IT AND THE FEASABILITY OF ISSUEING A RECALL. THE WARPING IS PRETTY COMMON FROM WHAT I CAN SEE AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP , AND IS EXTREMELY BAD WHEN STOPPING FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS
DT: THE COIL SPRING ON PASSENGER'S SIDE BROKE . THIS HAPPENED ON AUGUST 22, 2005. SAW RECALLS ONLINE BUT IT DID NOT INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO VIN. THE RECALLS WERE ON THE COIL SPRING AND THE ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. IF AT STOP SIGN WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT STILL TRIED TO SURGE FORWARD. THIS HAPPENED FREQUENTLY. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE HUB BEARINGS ON THE RIGHT WHEEL IN THE FRONT WERE BAD, HAD TO REPLACE THEM THREE TIMES. ON 8-22-05 A GARAGE TOLD THE CONTACT THE WHEEL WAS GETTING READY TO FALL OFF. THEY HAD NOT TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER. SHE HEARD A NOISE LIKE A RUBBING , GRINDING SOUND AND THE NOISE GOT WORSE. THE NOISE OCCURRED AT SPEEDS OF 10 MPH AND ABOVE. ALSO THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON, AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE FEEDBACK SENSOR TO THE ENGINE. *AK THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL TANK AND PUMP. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY. TWO BALL JOINTS, ONE INNER TIE ROD AND LEFT SIDE AXLE SHAFT WERE REPLACED. *NM
COIL SPRING FAILURE, LEFT FRONT, SPRING FAILED DUE TO RUST IN STEEL. REPAIR TO SPRING, PARTS AND TIRE AND RIM. COST 243.82. *NM
AFTER PURCHASING A BRAND NEW SET OF TIRES, I DROVE OFF OF THE PARKING LOT AND HEARD THIS HORRENDOUS NOISE. I CONTINUED DRIVING THINKING IT WOULD GO AWAY BUT AFTER A BLOCK I TURNED AROUND AND WENT BACK TO THE PLACE I BOUGHT THE TIRES FROM. THEY PUT IT UP ON THE RACK AND DETERMINED THE REAR COIL SPRING WAS BROKE. I DRIVE A 2002 FORD TAURUS AND HEARD ABOUT THE 00 & 01'S SO I BELIEVE THE 02 SHOULD ALSO BE LOOKED INTO. I HAD TO HAVE 2 REAR COILS, SPRINGS AND STRUTS PUT ON. AND PAY FOR ANOTHER TIRE AS WELL AS GET ANOTHER ALIGNMENT. I WASN'T TOO HAPPY ABOUT IT. I DO NOT HAVE THE OLD PART. *NM
I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR JUST WENT DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. TRIED STARTING AND SMELLED FUEL. CAR TOWED. FUEL LINE HAD COME LOOSE AND FELL OFF. THEN A WEEK LATER, CAR STALLED ON FREEWAY - I WAS ABLE TO COAST OFF. CAR STARTED AGAIN AFTER 1 1/2 HOURS. TAKEN TO FORD SERVICE DEPT. I HAD TO SLIP INTO NEUTRAL AND GIVE GAS WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR BREAKING IN TANDEM WITH USING BREAKS. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. SAME WEEK, CAR STALLS ON FREEWAY AGAIN. I AM STOPPED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC TRYING TO START CAR. IT STARTS - I MAKE IT TO WORK, CAR STALLS IN PARKING LOT. TAKE IT AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP - THEY SAY NO PROBLEM. 2 WEEKS LATER, CAR STALLS ON FREEWAY. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CAR FROM STALLING. AGAIN TO DEALERSHIP (3RD TIME IN 3 WEEKS) AND AGAIN THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. THEY ALSO TELL ME AIR CONDITIONING PULLS A LOT OF GAS - ? WHAT - YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DRIVE YOUR CAR WITH AIR CONDITIONING ON IN THE 100 PLUS DEGREE WEATHER IN AZ? I HAVE BEEN LUCKY UP TO NOW, BUT AM AFRAID OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY IF IT STALLS AGAIN. I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR BACK FROM SOMEONE AT FORD MOTOR COMPANY - I HAVE ALREADY PAID TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS DIAGNOSTIC FEES AND BOTH SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I THINK THERE IS. *NM
THE SMELL OF GAS WAS LIGHT AT FIRST BUT KEPT GETTING STRONGER. I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR TO A CERTIFIED REPAIR STATION. THE SERVICEMAN SAID THAT THE GAS LINE WAS MOUNTED SO CLOSE TO THE EXAUST SYSTEM THAT THE GAS LINE MELTED AND STARTED LEAKING. HE SAID THAT IF I HAD WAITED ANY LONGER, THE GASOLINE LEAK MAY HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE.
THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING BROKE IN HALF DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, AND PUNCTURED MY TIRE. AS I'VE CALLED AROUND, I HAVE HEARD MULTIPLE REPORTS FROM AUTO REPAIR TECHNICIANS THAT THIS HAPPENS ALL OF THE TIME. A QUICK SEARCH OF INTERNET ARTICLES SEEMS TO SUBSTANTIATE THEIR CLAIM. HAD THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS (I WAS TURNING INTO A DRIVEWAY) THE SUDDEN PUNCTURE COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED A FATAL CRASH.
DT: 2002 FORD TAURUS, THE CONSUMER STATED SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED. SHE DID A CAR FAX REPORT BEFORE BUYING THE VEHICLE AND ALL THE MAINTENANCE THAT HAD BEEN DONE WAS DONE BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THIS CAR HAS FORD MOTOR PARTS ON IT. WHEN IT RAINS IT LEAKS INTO THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD. THE WATER WAS ABOUT ONE INCH DEEP IN THE FLOOR BOARD YESTERDAY. THE CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALER WHERE SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONSUMER HAD HER INSURANCE COMPANY TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS. THEY TOLD THE CONSUMER THERE WAS THE RECALL NUMBER IS 03V087000. THIS RECALL WAS ON THE WINDSHIELD, LEAKING. THERE WERE ALSO TWO OTHER RECALLS NUMBERS 04V106000 SERVICE BRAKES WIRING AND 02V266000 BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONSUMER WANTED TO KNOW WHY HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *AK
MY BLOWER MOTOR FAILED I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I AM UPSET THAT FORD IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBLE FOR THERE PROBLEMS. THE REPAIR COST IS ABOUT $250-300. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS NO DEFROSTER, THIS IS A HAZARD WHEN DRIVING IF MY WINDSHIELD SHOW FOG UP I HAVE NO WAY TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD. *NM
EGR VALVE AND SENSOR WENT BAD. RUSTY INSIDE. *AK
DT: CALLER HAD AN ACCIDENT AND WITHOUT WARNING THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. NO MAJOR INJURIES DUE TO AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE POLICE ON THE WRECK. *NM
DT: 2002 FORD, TAURUS SE 4 DOOR. EVERY TIME VEHICLE WAS STARTED CONSUMER SMELLED GAS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GARAGE WHERE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT GAS LINE ABOVE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD BEEN RUBBED UNTIL IT BEGAN TO LEAK. GAS LINE WAS MADE OF SOMETHING OTHER THAN METAL. THE CONSUMER SAID THAT HIS MECHANIC HAD SAME TYPE VEHICLE AND WAS ALSO SMELLING GAS. THE MECHANIC REFUSED TO USE FORD PARTS TO FIX PROBLEM. THE MECHANIC REROUTED THE GAS LINE AROUND CATALYTIC CONVERTER USING METAL LINE FOR THE GAS LINE. CONSUMER STILL HAS GAS LINE THAT WAS REPLACED, CONSUMER WILL SEND LINE TO ODI. CONSUMER WANTED A REFUND FROM FORD DUE TO THE POOR LOCATION THE FUEL LINE WAS IN. *NM *JB
FRONT END HAS HAD VIBRATION SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. HAVE HAD CONTINENTAL ORIGINAL TIRES REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY 3 TIMES BECAUSE DEALERSHIP SAID VIBRATION WAS DUE TO TIRE FAILURE "EXCESSIVE RUNOUT". VIBRATION IS RETURNING AGAIN.
I HAD A FLAT TIRE 6/12/2005. HERE THE PERIMETER OF THE TIRE WAS ?SLICED DUE TO BAD DRIVERS SIDE SPRING. MY CAR IS A 2002FORD TAURUS VEH ID#[XXX]. MY BROTHER IN LAW HAD THE SAME PROBLEM W HIS ?2000 TAURUS BUT THE FRONT SPRING. THE DEALER SAID HIS WAS COVERED UNDER A GOV WARRANTY BUT MINE WAS NOT COVERED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WE HAD A$233 BILL TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE REPAIR THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE AND CAR WAS BACK IN DEALERSHIP 6/21 FRO $400. REPAIRS TO REPLACE BOTH REAR STRUTS. DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE COIL SPRING BROKE. THIS FAILURE CAUSED A PUNCTURE IN THE REAR TIRE. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE REAR COIL SPRING. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK 12/7/2005. *NM
DT: CONTACT STATED THERE RECALL 04V332000 WAS ISSUED FOR MODEL YEARS 1999-2001, CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS A 2002, BUT IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY 2001, BASED ON THE VIN THIS VEHICLE DID NOT FALL UNDER THIS RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE LEFT FRONT COIL SPRINGS FRACTURE, CAUSING THE FRONT LEFT TIRE TO RUPTURE. THE TIRE DID NOT PUNCTURE UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A BUMPY HIGHWAY WHERE CONSTRUCTION WAS GOING ON. SHE DID NOT RECOGNIZE ANY STRANGE NOISES FROM THE VEHICLE. THE END OF THE SPRING WAS STICKING THROUGH THE TIRE, AND THERE WAS A GROOVE ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. THIS WAS WHERE THE END OF THE SPRING PUNCTURED THROUGH THE TIRE. *AK
DT: THREE REAR SEAT BELTS DID NOT RETRACT . THIS HAPPENED IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED, COST OF THIS REPAIR WILL BE CLOSE TO $500.00. SPOKE TO MANUFACTURER, AND THEY SAID NO RECALL, THEY COU;DN'T HELP. *AK

CONSUMER STATED: WHEN HE ENTERED THE VEHICLE, AND PREPARED TO START THE CAR, THE ACCELERATOR CABLE DISCONNECTED FROM THE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT'S FRIEND OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERYTIME HIS FRIEND TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO GET INSPECTED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS DUE TO A LEAK IN THE EVAPORATION EMISSIONS CONTROL. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 87,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
SINCE PURCHASING MY TAURUS,V-6, 2002, I HAVE EXPERIENCED AT LEAST 4-5 " SUDDEN, UNEXPECTED SURGES IN ACCELERATION; AKIN TO A STUCK ACCELERATOR PAD. THE ACCELERATION WAS STOPPED ONLY BY PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL GEAR. THE LATEST EVENT OCCURED 5-5-2005.
WE PURCHASED A 2002 FORD TAURUS SES NEW IN 2002. THE BLOWER MOTOR FOR HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING RECENTLY QUIT WORKING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I WAS ADVISED THAT WATER HAD SHORTED OUT THE BLOWER MOTOR CAUSING IT TO BURN UP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR, BLOWER RESISTOR AND INSTALLED A "RAINHAT EXTENSION KIT". I WAS ADVISED THAT THE KIT WAS DEVELOPED BY FORD TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM OF WATER ENTERING THE BLOWER MOTOR AND SHORTING IT OUT. I WAS BILLED $374.37 TO REPAIR WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTER'S DEFECT. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE REPAIRED THIS DEFECT UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRENTY AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT. THE CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED WHEN NOT IT USE SINCE IT WAS NEW. IT PRESENTLY HAS ABOUT 49,500 MILES ON IT.
I WAS SLOWLY PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND READY TO BRAKE, WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR ACCELERATED. I HAD TO "STAND" ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. HAD I NOT DONE SO, THE CAR WOULD HAVE HOPPED OVER THE PARKING BLOCK, BROKEN THROUGH A FENCE AND HIT A BUILDING.
CONTACT STATES: THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME OF THE 2002 MODEL FORD TAURUS ON WHAT HAPPENED TO CONTACTS COIL SPRING BROKE AND TIRE RUPTURED YESTERDAY. VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN RERPAIRED. CONTACT FEELS THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER PREVIOUS RECALL.*AK
ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD WOULD TURN ON SPONTANEOUSLY, CAR WOULD STALL FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND. SOMETIMES THAT VEHICLE WOULD JUST DIE, SOMETIMES IT WOULD JUST SLOW DOWN FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND, THEN PICK UP SPEED AGAIN LIKE NOTHINNG HAPPENED. THIS IS REGARDLESS OF HOW FAST YOU'RE GOING. YOU COULD BE GOING 20MPH ON A SCHOOL ZONE, OR 60MPH ON A HIGHWAY. WE'VE BROUGHT THE CAR IN ON (4) DIFFERENT TIMES THROUGHOUT THE LAST 12 MONTHS. ON THE 3RD TIME WE BROUGHT IT IN (SOMETIME IN FEBRUARY/MARCH), CARMAX CHANGED THE FORCE AIR VALVE WHICH WE THOUGHT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL AFTER A MONTH LATER. THE CONDITION HAS GOTTEN WORSE. IT USED TO HAPPEN LIKE THIS WHEN THE CAR IS AT A SLOW DOWN PHASE IN TRAFFIC. BUT NOW, IT EVEN HAPPENS WHILE YOU'RE RUNNING 60MPH ON A HIGHWAY. BOTH CARMAX AND FRIENDLY FORD DEALERSHIP SAY THEY CAN'T FIND WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CAR IS OUR MAIN VEHICLE AS IT IS THE ONLY CAR THAT CAN ACCOMMODATE OUR FAMILY OF 5 (3 CHILDREN). WITH THIS CONDITION, I'M TOO AFRAID TO HAVE MY CHILDREN RIDE IN THE CAR.

THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT. *SC *JB

WHEN I GOT INTO VEHICLE THE COIL SPRING BROKE. VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON 2002 FORD TAURUS.*AK UPDATED 12/27/05. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WEARING PREMATURELY AND WERE REPLACED TEN TIMES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE WAS CAUSING THE ROTORS TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. WINDSHIELD IS ALWAYS DAMP ON STARTING. BLOWER MOTOR CEASED WORKING AND WAS REPAIRED FOR $250.00. WONDERING ABOUT THE WINDDSHIELD LEAKING? AND RECALL AS THIS WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN AGAIN.*AK

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. THE MOTOR AND RESISTOR SHORT OUT DUE TO RAINWATER THAT ENTERED THE HEATER ASSEMBLY THROUGH THE VENTING ALONG THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. FAILURE OF FRONT RIGHT SPRING, JUST LIKE THE LEFT FRONT THAT FAILED IN 8/05. *NM
JUST PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAVE(WATER IN THE BLOWER CASE OR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR, AN INOPERATIVE CLIMATE CONTROL BLOWER MOTOR, A MOTOR THAT OPERATES ON HIGH SPEED ONLY), HAVE NOT HAD CAR REPAIRED YET BUT DID CALL FORD FOR COMPLAINT.*AK
THIS A COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO A 2002 FORD TAURUS. I WENT TO BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE AND NOTICED THAT MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE WAS FLAT. UPON REMOVAL OF THE TIRE, THERE WAS A GASH MADE IN IT'S SIDE WALL BY THE BREAKING OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT COIL SPRING. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THAT PART, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HEARD OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. NOW, I AM GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE BOTH SPRINGS, AND REPLACE A FAIRLY NEW TIRE AT MY EXPENSE. *NM
I DRIVE A 2002 FORD TAURUS WAGON, PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALER, THE WARRANTY IS NOW UP. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR(CANADIAN WINTER) AND TURNED ON MY HEATER. I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING, AND THEN SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE DASH. I TURNED THE HEATER OFF AND IT WENT AWAY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WHERE WATER LEAKED INTO THE HEATER MOTOR AND FROZE BURNING OUT THE MOTOR. NOW THIS IS GOING TO COST ABOUT $400 TO FIX. IT APPARENTLY WAS A PROBLEM WITH TAURUS BUILT FROM 2001 - 2003. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A DEFECT RECORDED ON THIS AND A RECALL DONE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. WHEN EXITING THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AND INCREASED IN SPEED. THE OWNER PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, YET THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO FORWARD. THE OWNER HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF IN ORDER TO COME TO A STOP. *AK THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED SHIFTING SLIPPAGE, A SLIGHT LEAK WAS FOUND IN THE BELL HOUSING AREA. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REMOVED AND THE CONVERTER FRONT HUB SEAL WAS LEAKING. THE SEAL WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE VALVE BODY PAN. THE ALARM WOULD SOUND WHEN NO ONE WAS NEAR THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED UNLESS THE ALARM WAS RESET. *SC *JB
BROKEN LEFT SIDE REAR SUSPENSION SPRING. GOUGED INSIDE SIDEWALL OF THE REAR TIRE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, I HEARD A LOUD POP FOLLOWED BY THE BLOWOUT OF THE FRONT TIRE. THE FRONT COIL SPRING HAD BROKEN AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE. THE CAR CAME TO AN IMMEDIATE STOP. BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS, FRONT SHOCKS, LINKS AND A NEW TIRE WERE ALL REPLACED. *JB
DT: THE INSIDE DASH LIGHTS AND POWER WINDOWS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, THE CONSUMER TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE BATTERY AND STARTER TESTED. THE MECHANIC TOLD THE CONSUMER THEY WERE FINE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY REPROGRAMMED THE KEY, REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE STARTER AND THEY ALL SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AT ALL, WHICH LEAD THE CONSUMER TO BELIEVE THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. *JB
MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ABOUT 3 TIMES FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM. TWO TIMES FOR THE SAME EXACT THING. I GO OUT TO START THE CAR AND IT DOESN'T START, THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE HAS PUT IN A STARTER AND A STARTER RELAY AND IT STILL DON'T WANT TO START. THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNLESS IT HAPPENS WHEN THEY HAVE THE CAR. *JB
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE RIGHT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER BROKE, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING A VIOLENT VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL. ALONG WITH THE VIBRATION HEARD A LOUD CLANKING SOUND IN THE FRONT END. THE NOISE AND THE VIBRATION GET WORSE WHEN DRIVING AT 45 MPH OR HIGHER. HE HAD A SITUATION WHERE HE WAS TRYING TO AVOID A ROAD HAZARD AND THE VEHICLE WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN NO CONCLUSION TO THE PROBLEM. HE HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD, AND THEY OFFERED NO FREE REMEDY. DT: DEALER HAD BEEN WORKING WITH THE CONTACT TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE VIBRATION, WHEN SUDDENLY THEY TOLD HIM THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO SEE HIM OR HIS VEHICLE IN THEIR DEALERSHIP AGAIN. HE HAS NOT YET DECIDED WHAT APPROACH HE SHOULD TAKE WITH THE VEHICLE.*AK
ON MY 2002 FORD TAURUS THE LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHICH IN TURN RUINED THE LEFT FRONT TIRE, LUCKILY MY WIFE WAS JUST STARTING THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENED OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE. THE COST OF REPAIRS IS OVER $600.00. I CALLED FORD, WHICH WAS POINTLESS, THEY ARE NOT COVERING 2002 MODEL YEARS. THE FORD REP STATED THAT THEY HAVE MY COMPLIANT ON FILE AND IF THERE EVER IS A RECALL TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS AND I WOULD BE REIMBURSED. IN MY 30 PLUS YEARS OF DRIVING I HAVE NEVER HAD A COIL SPRING BREAK AND THROUGH MY RESEARCH THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS RECALLED ON ALL 1999 THRU 2001 MODEL YEAR TAURUS'S. WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR NHTSA TO SEE THAT THIS ISSUE STILL EXISTS AND FORD NEEDS TO HANDLE THESE. HOPEFULLY MY TAX DOLLARS ARE NOT GOING TO WASTE AND NHTSA WILL FORCE FORD TO STEP TO THE PLATE AND HANDLE THESE BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS INJURED. *NM
IN MID JANUARY I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE , 2002 33XI BMW, WHEN I HAD A BLOW OUT OF MY FRONT LEFT TIRE. THE TIRES ARE NOKIAN WR SIZE 205/50R17. I THOUGHT I MUST HAVE HIT A POTHOLE OR SOMETHING ELSE TO CAUSE THE BLOW OUT. YESTERDAY, MARCH 11, 2005 I NOTICED A BLUGE ON MY FRONT RIGHT TIRE ( SAME MAKE). I CALLED JACK WILLIAMS FOR A REPLACEMENT TIRE AND WILL HAVE THE TIRE REPLACED AT MY COST. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE TIRES MAY BE DEFECTIVE. I HAD ALL FOUR TIRES REPLACED ON 12/01/04 AND HAVE LESS THEN 10,000 MILES ON THEM. I FEEL IT IS TOO IRONIC THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ANOTHER TIRE AFTER HAVING A BLOW OUT. I COULD NOT FIND THIS MAKE OF TIRE ON YOUR RECALL SYSTEM. ANY ASSITANCE YOU CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE APPRECIATED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE REAR PASSENGER COIL SPRING PUNCTURED THE TIRE. THE CONSUMER CONTINUE TO DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.
WHEN CONSUMER TURNED ON THE HEAT OR AIR DEFOGGER, IT FAILED. CONSUMER SMELLED ODOR COMING FROM THE VENTS. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE COOLING FAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION. *AK
