NHTSA RECALL 04V332000; FORD ISSUED A FRONT COIL SPRINGS RECALL. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT HAD THE TIRE RUPTURED AND ALMOST COMING OFF. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY DEALER THAT THE COIL SPRINGS CAUSED THE PROBLEM.*AK
BLOWER OF HEAT AND DEFROSTER ON MY 2002 FORD TAURUS SES FAILED. DUE TO FAILURE, WAS UNABLE TO HAVE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTED UNTIL PROBLEM WAS FIXED FOR OVER $300.00. MOTOR FAILED DUE TO DEFECTIVE DRAINAGE AROUND WINDSHIELD WHICH CAUSED WATER TO GET IN BLOWER MOTOR AND DESTROY IT. *NM
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD POP AND MY CAR STARTED SHAKING REALLY BAD AND STARTED MAKING A REALLY LOUD CLANKING NOISE. I ALMOST PUT MY CAR INTO A TREE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. APPARENTLY THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE STRUT SPRING BROKE AND IN THE PROCESS THE SPRING BROKE THE STRUT STABILIZER AND GOT TANGLED IN THE AXLE AND BROKE THE RUBBER BOOT ON THE AXLE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING AT 35 MPH AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 65 MPH. DEPRESSING THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THEREFORE , THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND IT STILL DID NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN PLACED INTO THE PARK POSITION WHICH RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED TO A STOP. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED AT A STOP LIGHT. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WHILE THE CONTACT'S FOOT LIFTED OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP, AND THE IAC VALVE AND SPARK PLUG WIRES WERE REPLACED. THE THIRD INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FROM 55 MPH TO 95 MPH. IT WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND MOVED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. WHILE ON THE SHOULDER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND PLACED INTO THE PARK POSITION. AFTER THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED TO A STOP THE INSURANCE AGENCY WAS CONTACTED. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TEST DRIVEN, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS NEVER BEEN USED. *AK
WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE MOLDING OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. *AK
MY 2002 FORD TAURUS HAD A WATER LEAK IN THE AC/HEATER BLOWER DURING RAIN STORMS. THE DEALER FIXED THE LEAK BUT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR AND BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR TWICE. MY BLOWER QUIT RUNNING AGAIN TODAY. MOTOR AND RESISTOR NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *TR
SATURDAY NIGHT DEC 11, 2004, WHILE DRIVING ON ROUTE 91 IN CT, THE CAR LOST STEERING. THE CAR STARTED TO VEER RIGHT AND WHEN MY DAUGHTER (AND 2 SMALL CHILDREN) TRIED TO STEER THE WHEEL JUST TURNED AND TURNED WITH NO RESULTS. SHE ENDED UP NEXT TO A CEMENT WALL, WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR, AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES. THEY HAD TO CRAWL OUT OF THE WINDOW, BECAUSE OF THE POSITION OF THE CAR, WHEN THE TOW TRUCK CAME. A POLICE CRUISER STAYED BEHIND HER UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK GOT THERE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM. THEY FOUND IT WAS WITH THE LINKAGE AND REPAIRED IT. I HATE TO SAY IT, BUT I STILL HAVE A STRANGE FEELING WHEN I DRIVE NOW. I GUESS THAT THEY FOUND A BOLT WAS LOOSE, REMOVED IT, CHECKED THE THREADS AND REINSTALLED IT. I AM SO DISCOURAGED WITH THIS CAR COMPARED TO OTHER FORDS THAT I HAVE HAD. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS SITTING AT INTERSECTION AND IT WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION, CAUSING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY,BUT PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED HEAD TRAUMA AND REFUSED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. CONSUMER WILL GO TO THE HOSPITAL THE NEXT DAY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
I HAVE A WATER LEAK IN THE CABIN OF MY 2002 FORD TAURUS. FORD ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM AND IS CONDUCTING A SILENT RECALL. BUT NO FORMAL RECALL. THIS CAN BE FOUND ON THE WEB IN NUMEROUS ARTICLES. NOW I AM EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR ASSY. *NM
I CANNOT GET GAS INTO MY CAR.I HAVE USED EVERY PUMP IN TOWN.WHEN I TRY TO PUMP GAS IN THE TANK THE PUMPS KEEP SHUTTING OFF.I CANNOT GET MORE THAN A FEW DOLLARS IN AT A TIME.SOMETIMES IT SPITS GAS BACK OUT OF THE TANK WHILE TRYING TO FEUL THE CAR.THE CAR ALSO SEEMS TO GET POOR GAS MILEAGE. *AK
DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY WHILE BEING SLAMMED HEAD ON INTO CONCRETE MEDIAN. PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED AS EXPECTED. INJURIES WERE KNOT ON LEFT SIDE OF HEAD FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. *NM
FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON ITS 2002 FORD TAURAUS VEHICLES FOR UPDATING THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS. AFTER THE COMPUTER SYSTEMS WERE UPDATED I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW OXYGEN SENSOR TO KEEP THE LIGHT FROM COMING ON AGAIN. I ASKED IF THIS WAS A PART OF THE RECALL AND THE DEALERSHIP STATED NO THAT IS WAS SOMETHING DIFFERENT. WELL THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED ON MY FATHER-IN-LAWS 2002 FORD ESCAPE. I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. I ASKED AGAIN IF IT WAS PART OF THE RECALL AND THEY ASSURED ME THAT IT WASNT. I THINK THEY ARE WRONG. WELL ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING ON ITS ON AND JUMPING OUT OF GEAR. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AND ACCIDENT BUT THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF US AT THE TIME. THEN THE BATTERY ON IT DRAINED DOWN SO FAR THAT THE BIG JUMP BOX AT THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T EVEN FIX IT AND WE HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW BATTERY. I'M NOT SURE OF THE EXACT DATE OF THE INCIDENTS.
THE FRONT SEAT BELT WILL NOT RETRACT. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO WEAR THE SEAT BELT CORRECTLY. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB

THERE IS WATER ON THE FRONT FLOOR, MAINLY PASSENGER SIDE AFTER A RAIN. THE DEALER SAYS THAT MY TAURUS IS NOT A PART OF ANY RECALL. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V087000 STATES THAT 2002-2003 TAURUS ARE AFFECTED. MY WINDSHIELD, APPARENTLY IS LEAKING, BUT MY VIN # DOES SHOW UP AS PART OF THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED BUT HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS. THE DEALER HAS ONLY OFFERED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM FOR A FEE.*AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WATER WAS GETTING INTO THE BLOW MOTOR. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER ,AND THEY WERE AWARE OF THE DEFECT, BUT WERE NOT WILLING TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS JACKING UP THE VEHICLE TO REPLACE A FLAT TIRE, THE JACK COLLAPSED AND THE VEHICLE FELL ONTO THE GROUND. NO INJURIES. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, BUT WAS TOLD HE HAD TO ORDER THE PART ON HIS OWN. *JB *ER
WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER THE BLOWER MOTOR FAILED WORK AND THE WINDSHIELD BECAME FOGGY. THIS CAUSED POOR VISIBILITY FOR THE DRIVER. CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD KNOCK NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER MOTOR, AND THE PASSENGER SIDE LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT SHE IS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH HER THROTTLE SENSOR. SHE STATES THAT SHE CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE . SHE STATES THAT THIS SCARES HER, BECAUSE SHE CANNOT STOP THE VEHICLE UNTIL SHE HAS PUMPED THE BRAKES A NUMBER OF TIMES. *JB
COSCO AL AMEGA MODEL # 02531 BMG, DOM 04/30/2002. WHILE PLACING THE CHILD INSIDE OF THE CAR SEAT CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE STRAPS UNRAVELED, AND THE THREADS FELL APART. *AK
FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE COIL SPRING SHEARED OFF ONTO THE TIRE, CAUSING THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE COIL SPRING AND TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
I HAVE 2002 FORD TAURUS, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT SPRING ON THE STRUT BROKE AND WENT THROUGH THE INNER SIDE OF THE TIRE. I JUST PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AFTER GETTING OFF THE EXPRESSWAY, WHEN THE FRONT SPRING BROKE IN HALF AND WENT THROUGH THE DRIVERSIDE TIRE. THE PARTS THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED WERE BOTH SPRINGS AND DRIVER SIDE TIRE. 1999 THROUGH 2001 FORD TAURUS HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS ARE INDENICAL TO THE PARTS ON THE 2002 TAURUS, BUT THE 2002 ARE NOT ON THE RECALL. I TOLD THE DEALER TO MAKE SURE TO SAVE ME THE PARTS. I BELIEVE THAT IF FORD'S DOESN'T RECALL THESE CARS, THAT MANY PEOPLE WILL DIE BECAUSE OF IT. I WAS LUCKY I WAS STOPPED WHEN IT BROKE. THANK YOU, GARY. *AK
TIRE SEPARATION FIRESTONE/BRIDGESTONE TIRES CAME AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT WITH 2002 FORD TAURAS WAS TRAVELING ON LIE AND THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE SEPERATED CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY WHEEL WELL, BUMPER AND FENDER. *AK
TRANSMISSION , 2002 TAURUS, APPROXIMATELY 22,000 MILES IS CLUNKING AND BANGING WHEN YOU SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE, DRIVE TO REVERSE, REVERSE TO DRIVE AND EVEN WHEN YOU PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. WE HAVE BEEN TELLING THE DEALER SINCE WE OWNED THIS CAR THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS CLUNKING AT TIMES AND WE KEEP BEING TOLD THAT IT IS NORMAL OR ITS THE PARKING PAWL. IT USED TO TAKE ABOUT A SECOND AFTER YOU STOPPED TO DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST. WE BROUGHT IT IN ON 02-18-02 AND WERE TOLD THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM AND THAT THIS IS NORMAL. WE KEPT BRINGING IT UP WHEN WE BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. WE BROUGHT IT BACK ON 02-25-04 AND TOLD THEM THAT IT HAD A HARD UP SHIFT INTO SECOND AND WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND DRIVE TO REVERSE ETC. IT BANGS AND YOU CAN FEEL IT JERK THE CAR. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE PCM AND REPLACED 2 MOTOR MOUNTS BECAUSE THEY WERE BAD. THE UP SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING AND THE HESITATION DOWN SHIFTING WHEN STOPPING HAS SEEMED TO IMPROVE. WE TOOK IT IN ON 09-1-04 AND ASKED SERVICE WRITER IF WE COULD HAVE A MECHANIC TAKE A DRIVE AND LISTEN TO IT. HE SAID WAIT A MINUTE. HE CAME BACK WITH WHO HE SAID WAS HIS SERVICE MANAGER. HIS SERVICE MANAGER TOLD US THAT HE OWNS A TAURUS AND THEY DO THIS. AFTER RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET ABOUT TRANSMISSIONS THEY SHOULD HAVE A SMOOTH SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND DRIVE TO REVERSE ETC. THIS TRANSMISSION IS SMOOTH AT TIMES AND CLUNKS AND BANGS AT OTHER TIMES. WE WANTED TO HAVE A MECHANIC TAKE A DRIVE WITH US AND WE WOULD SHOW HIM WHAT IT WAS DOING. IT CLUNKS AND BANGS AFTER IT WARMS UP AND WE TOLD THIS TO MIKE AND HIS SERVICE MANAGER. WHAT MADE THE MOTOR MOUNTS GO BAD? WILL THIS TRANSMISSION FAIL ON US UNEXPECTEDLY OR HURT THE MOTOR MOUNTS ETC? I CALLED THE SERVICE WRITER ON 9/7, HE KEPT TELLING ME IT WAS NORMAL. WE WANT TO SELL THE CAR BUT DONT BELIEVE THIS IS NORMAL. IF THIS IS NORMAL AND SAFE, THEN WE WANT FORD TO PROVIDE IN WRITING. IT IS GETTING WORSE!
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SHUT DOWN . CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER. MECHANIC INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. CONSUMER ADVISED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT A LIFTER AND PULLEY BELT HAD BEEN REPLACED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMETR HIT A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAYAND BOTH DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY. DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THERE WOULD BE A VIBRATION IN THE REAR SUSPENSION. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN CONSUMER STOPPED AT LIGHT, HE OFTEN NOTICED THAT AFTER A WHILE, THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD A BIT AND THEN SETTLED DOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
WITH THE FRONT PART OF THE CAR, IMPACTED THE FRONT LATERAL PART OF THE OTHER CAR AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR WAS TOTAL LOSS. THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGER RECEIVED BODILY INJURIES.*AK
AUGUST 6, 2004 WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH THE VEHICLE (30,750 MILES) EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER. THIS INCLUDED THE FOUR-WAY FLASHERS. TOWED TO DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE AS A WEAK BATTERY WHICH WAS REPLACED.
THE COVER WHICH ALLOWS WATER TO GET DOWN INTO THE FAN MOTOR RUSTED OUT. *AK (BLOWER MOTOR) *SC
I WAS DRIVING ON A 65 MPH HIGHWAY AT POSTED SPEED. I EXITED ONTO A RAMP, AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING. THE AUTOMOBILE HAD ONLY 12,000 MILES.*AK
WE OWN TWO 2002 FORD TAURUS VEHICLES. ONE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND ONE USED. THE FIRST TIME OWNER VEHCILE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT AND FINALLY COMPLETE MALFUNCTION OF THE HEATER/AIRCONDITIONER BLOWER FAN. DEALER ADVISED THAT WATER HAD LEAKED INTO THE AREA WHICH HOUSES THE UNIT AND REPLACED AS UNIT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM HOWEVER WAS NO LONGER UNDER DEALER WARRANTY. DEALER INSTALLED A RAIN SHIELD IN THE FRESH AIR INTAKE AND REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR. TOTAL REPAIR BILL WAS $363.02. WHEN WE QUESTIONED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS A DESIGN DEFECT AND PERHAPS SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY WE WERE TOLD NO AND WHEN WE ASKED FOR THE DEALER TO PROVIDE AT LEAST A SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT, WE WERE DECLINED. WE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A PREVIOUS 1998 FORD CONTOUR.*AK
REAR ENDED AT A STOP LIGHT AND PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. BOTH FRONT SEATS, FULLY RECLINED, DRIVER SEAT BROKE, NO AIRBAGS AT ALL DEPLOYED. RESULTED IN HERNIATED DISCS FOR BOTH DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT (ONLY) PASSENGER. *JB
I WAS TRAVELING EAST AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND STILL ACCELERATING TO THE POSTED SPEED OF 45. ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS TRAVELING WEST ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE SAME ROAD WAS STRUCK AND CAME ONTO MY SIDE OF THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME. I STRUCK THAT CAR, AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.*AK
CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE FLOORBOARD AND MATS WERE SOAKED AND WET. CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE FROM WHERE THE WATER WAS LEAKING. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE, AND HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *AK COWL PANEL WAS WARPPED. DEALER REPLACED COWL PANEL AND INSTALLED LIP SEAL. LUG AND PLASTIC NUTS HOLDING HUB CAP STRIPPED. *LA
THE CONSUMER STATED THE WINDSHIELD LEAKED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY IN FOR RECALL 03V087000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TESTED FOR LEAKS DURING THE RECALL, HOWEVER, THE WINDSHIELD STILL LEAKED. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, HOWEVER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DID. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MAJOR NECK AND EYE INJURIES. THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
IN HEAVY RAIN STORMS WATER LEAKED FROM THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS SQUEAKING AND RATTLING. CONSUMER STATED THAT SHE HAD NOT HEARD WIND NOISE. RECALL 03VO87000 WAS ISSUED. *AK
MY 2002 FORD TAURUS FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE. I JUST RETURNED FROM A SHORT TRIP AND HEARD A LOUD "BANG" AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING FOR 10-15 MINUTES. THE RESULT WAS A DEFLATED FRONT TIRE AND I COULD SEE THE SHARP POINT OF THE SPRING HAD PUNCTURED THE TIRE. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO ADVISED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. HAD TO REPLACE BOTH COIL SPRINGS (THEY ONLY COME IN SETS OF TWO), STRUTS, AND SWAY BAR LINKS, AND ONE TIRE AT COST OF $631.80. OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND IN MY POSSESSION. I HEARD THERE WAS A RECALL ON '99-2001 MODELS BUT FEEL MY 2002 MODEL MATCHES THE EXACT DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL JUST ANNOUNCED FOR THIS PROBLEM.*AK

MY TAURAUS EXPERIENCED A STRUT COIL FAILURE WHICH RESULTED IN THE CUTTING THE INSIDE WALL OF THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. BOTH STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE TIRE. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED THE HIGHWAY IT WULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.*AK
CONSUMER EXPERIENCED ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR SEAT BELTS NOT RETRACTING FROM THE RETRACTORS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALER SHOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. DRIVER'S SEAT BELT RETRACTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES, AND THE PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT RETRACTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE, BUT PROBLEMS RECURRED. ALSO, ON ANOTHER ISSUE CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS BACK TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES ON A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 04V106000 CONCERNING BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. CONSUMER STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS STILL EXPERIENCING SOME PROBLEM WITH THE STOP LIGHTS NOT OPERATING WHEN BRAKING. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NEVER FIXED. THE BACK SEAT BELTS HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE FRONT.
THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE WAS CUPPING WITH OVER 50% OF TREAD WEAR REMAINING. *AK THE TIRE'S TREAD SEEMED TO BE SEPERATING FROM THE SIDEWALL. *SC *JB
WHEN VEHICLE IS DRIVEN OVER A PUDDLE OF WATER OR GOES THROUGH A CAR WASH THE FLOOR MATS BECOME SOAKED, MOSTLY IN THE FRONT. THE MECHANIC DOESN'T KNOW WHERE THE WATER IS COMING. CONSUMER IS AFRAID OF BEING ELECTROCUTED.*AK ON SUNNY DAYS THE WET CARPETING CAUSES MOISTURE TO BUILD UP ON THE INSIDE WINDSHIELD. *NM
DURING WET/DRY CONDITIONS, BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND VEHICLE FAILS TO STOP AND CONTINUES TO ROLL. THIS CONDITION IS INTERMITTENT. *JB
