MY 2003 FORD TAURUS HEATER FAN MOTOR STOPPED WORKING IN SLOW SPEEDS AT ABOUT 51,000 MILES, FOR ABOUT A MONTH ONLY THE FAST SPEED WOULD WORK AND YESTERDAY THE FAN STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. REPLACED THE RELAYS AND FUSES TO NO AVAIL, LAST RESORT WILL BE TO CHANGE OUT THE FAN MOTOR ITSELF. *TR
HEAVY VIBRATIONS FROM THE REAR OF MY FORD TAURUS. ANOTHER DRIVER SHOUTED TO ME "YOU'VE GOT A BAD TIRE" CHANGED TIRE & FOUND THAT THE NON-DOT SIDE TWO OUTSIDE TREADS RAISED FROM THE TIRE & A LARGE DEPRESSION IN THE THIRD TREAD. 8/32 TREAD LEFT ON TIRE AT THE TME. *TR
MY BLOWER FAN AND RESISTOR NEED TO BE REPLACED ON MY 2003 FORD TAURUS WAGON BECAUSE WATER IS LEAKING IN THROUGH MY COW PANEL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT RECALL 03V087000, VISIBILITY WINDSHIELD WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RELATED TO THE RECALL. FORD ADVISED HIM THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS FILING A SAFETY COMPLAINT DUE TO THE WATER ENTERING INTO THE VEHICLE CAUSING CORROSION THAT SHORTS OUT THE AIR CONDITIONER. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000. UPDATED 12/22/10*LJ
I OWN A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE HEATER BLOWER GETS WATER IN IT THEN SHORTS OUT AND THE HEATER/AIR BLOWER DOES NOT WORK. IT ALSO DUMPS WATER INTO MY PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. I HAVE READ ON TOPIX.COM MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL? *TR
FAILED TORQUE CONVERTER, THE SHIFTER CHANGES, BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE REVERSE OR DRIVE OPTION. IT REMAINS STATIONARY. *TR
2003 TAURUS - TRANSMISSION FAILED; WENT TO ACCELERATE THROUGH BUSY INTERSECTION; NO POWER; HAD TO COAST THROUGH INTERSECTION TO GET TO SAFER PLACE. CAR TOWED; EST. 1300-1600- TO FIX PER FORD DEALER; FINAL COST $1933.50. NO WARNING; NO NOTHING; JUST WOULD NOT ACCELERATE; LAST YEAR IT WAS THE STRUT BLOWING THROUGH THE REAR END OF THE WAGON FOR $1500.00 FIX; THIS YEAR $1933.50 FOR TRANSMISSION; FORD SAYS OUT OF WARRANTY; TOO BAD; IT IS LIKE HAVING A HEART ATTACK AND THE DOCTOR CAN'T EXPLAIN WHY; WHAT AN EXPLANATION TO GET FROM A "REPUTABLE DEALER". I DISCOVERED EARLIER YEAR THAT WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE FLOORBOARD OF MY CAR'S PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SEAT. I NEVER NOTICED IT BEFORE, SINCE I AM ALWAYS THE DRIVER, AND RARELY HAVE PASSENGERS. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, I FOUND THAT IT WAS A DESIGN ERROR, AND I HAVE TRIED TO PLUG THE HOLES WHERE WATER IS COMING IN. I STILL HAVE PERIODIC LEAKS. AS A RESULT OF THE WATER LEAK, MY BLOWER HAS NOW SHORTED OUT. THIS IS DESIGN ERROR AND FORD SHOULD HAVE TO RECTIFY IT. 2003 FORD TAURUS SE WITH 33,000 MILES. BLOWER FAN QUIT WORKING ON LOW SPEEDS SPRING OF 2008. REPAIRED JULY 7, 2008 BY REPLACING BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. THIS WORKED FOR LESS THAN A MONTH BEFORE FAILING AGAIN. DETERMINED THAT BANGING ON DASH WOULD ALLOW BLOWER TO WORK. AFTER FIRST FREEZE OF THE 2008 WINTER SEASON THE BLOWER QUIT AND HAS NOT WORKED SINCE. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE: THE WINDOWS HAVE ICE ON THE INSIDE SEVERELY LIMITING VISIBILITY, THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE CAR IS NEAR AMBIENT - WHICH IS CURRENTLY BELOW FREEZING. *TR
ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS AGO MY HEATER/AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER STARTING WORKING ON HIGH ONLY. ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO THE BLOWER MOTOR WENT OUT ALL TOGETHER. I ALSO HAVE WATER LEAKING INTO THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD (NOT HEATER CORE, SINCE IT HAS NOT SMELL). THIS WATER HAS BEEN LEAKING FOR A LONG TIME BUT NO ONE COULD EVER FIND WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS REPAIR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BOOM FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS UNCERTAIN OF WHAT CAUSED THE NOISE. THREE MONTHS LATER, SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO A TIRE SHOP FOR SERVICE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS SERIOUS FAILURE WITH THE FRONT COIL SPRING. IF THE SPRING WERE TO UNCOIL, IT COULD SLIP THROUGH AND CAUSE GREAT DANGER WHILE DRIVING. AT THAT TIME, THE TIRE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FRONT COIL SPRING WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILED COIL SPRING MUST BE REPLACED. SIX INCHES OF STEEL WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE COIL SPRING. THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FRONT COIL SPRING. SHE ELECTED TO PURCHASE THE QUICK STRUT PART, WHICH IS THE STRUT AND COIL SPRING COMBINATION MANUFACTURED BY MONROE. THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR SERVICE WAS $376. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,546. UPDATED 06/02/08 *BF
BOUGHT A USED 2003 FORD TAURUS SE AND AFTER OWNING IT 6 MONTHS, THE BLOWER MOTOR STARTED MAKING NOISES. AFTER A COUPLE MONTHS OF THE NOISE, THE BLOWER MOTOR ONLY WORKS ON HIGH. I REPLACED THE BLOWER MOTOR IN FEB 08 AND IT WILL ONLY WORK ON HIGH AS WELL. I NOTICED MANY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND I HOPE A RECALL WILL OCCUR. *TR
REAR SPRING FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. *TR
MY WIFE AND I WERE SITTING IN MY CAR GETTING READY TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND INSTANTLY HEARD A LOUD BANG-TYPE NOISE. IMMEDIATELY THE FRONT OF MY CAR LEANED DOWN ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. I CALLED AAA AND THE PERSON FOUND OUT THE FRONT COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN AND COME IN CONTACT WITH THE TIRE CAUSING A BLOWOUT. *TR
IN MY 2003 FORD TAURUS WATER LEAKS IN THROUGH THE CABIN AIR FILTER, AND BASICALLY SETTLES WITHIN THE HOUSING WHERE THE BLOWER IS SHORTING OUT THE BLOWER SO THE HEATER DOESN'T WORK. *TR
MY PASSENGER FLOORBOARD IS CONSTANTLY DAMP AS WATER HAS SEEMINGLY LEAKED THROUGH THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR. THIS HAS CAUSED THE BLOWER MOTOR TO THE A/C/HEATER TO QUIT WORKING. I WOULD ESSENTIALLY HAVE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK AS WELL AS BUY A NEW BLOWER MOTOR TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT IT SEEMS AS IF FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE YET IS HESITANT TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE WHATSOEVER. I PURCHASED THE CAR ON 2/11/08 AND THEN TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE THE DOOR PANEL BROKE OFF AND THE CAR WAS IDLING HIGH WHEN I DRIVE IT. THEY KNOCKED $1,000 OFF OF THE SALES PRICE AND TOOK OFF THE FORD WARRANTY FOR THIS EXCHANGE AND THEY WROTE OUT ANOTHER SALES CONTRACT. A MONTH LATER, THE STARTER WENT OUT AND I PAID $200.00 TO FIX IT (OUT OF MY POCKET). THEN, ON 4/7/08 WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK, THE CAR BROKE DOWN AGAIN AND I CALLED RACEWAY FORD. THE CAR DEALER WHOM SOLD ME THE CAR TOLD ME THAT HE DON'T KNOW IF THEY CAN HELP ME AND IF THEY DID FIX IT, HE SAID HE WOULDN'T KNOW WHEN IT'LL BE READY BECAUSE HE'S NOT A MECHANIC (IN A VERY SARCASTIC TONE). HE TOLD ME TO JUST CALL BACK WHEN THE MANAGER ARRIVE AT 3 P.M. TODAY. I HAD TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED THE SAME DAY SO I TOOK MY CAR TO GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE SHOP IN MORENO VALLEY AND PAID $688.00 (OUT OF MY POCKET) TO GET IT REPAIRED. AFTER MY CAR WAS REPAIRED, ON 4/7/08, I WENT TO RACEWAY FORD AND WAITED 15 MINUTES TO TALK TO THE SALES MANAGER, EVEN THOUGH HE WAS IN HIS OFFICE, ONLY 20FT AWAY FROM WHERE I WAS WAITING, HE SENT HIS ASSISTANT MANAGER TO COME OUT TO TALK TO ME BECAUSE THE ASSISTANT MANAGER SAID THE MANAGER WAS TOO BUSY TO HANDLE THE SITUATION AT THIS TIME. SO, I EXPLAINED ALL THE PROBLEMS I?VE HAD WITH THE VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED FROM THEM. THE ASSISTANT MANAGER MADE COPIES OF MY REPAIR BILLS AND TOLD ME THAT HE PROMISE HE'LL TRY TO HELP ME AS BEST AS HE CAN AND HE'LL CALL ME BACK TOMORROW (ON 04/08/08). TODAY IS 4/10/08 AND I HAVEN?T HEARD FROM THE MANAGER OR THE ASSISTANT MANAGER IN REGARDS TO THIS DILEMMA. NEITHER ONE OF THEM HAS TRIED TO CONTACT ME. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT IF THEY WOULD HAVE DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE VEHICLE BEFORE THEY SOLD IT TO ME, THIS PROBLEM WOULDN'T EVEN EXIST. *TR
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WATER LEAK. THIS LEAK CAUSES UNHEALTHY MOLD TO BUILD UP IN CARPETING ETC. AS WELL AS DESTROYS THE AIR CONDITIONING FAN SWITCH. THIS IS THE 3RD FORD TAURUS I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH. DEALER WANTS $995.00 TO REPAIR WHILE I AM SUFFERING FROM MOLD RELATED ALLERGIES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2003 FORD TAURUS ON FEBRUARY 5, 2008, WHEN THE BLOWER MOTOR CEASED WORKING. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A WATER LEAK ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD. *TR WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO GOODYEAR I WAS TOLD THAT THE WATER LEAK CAUSED MY BLOWER MOTOR TO SHORT OUT. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM AND THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EXPENSE OF TIME LOST FROM WORK AND THE FOLLOWING COSTS: R/R BLOWER MOTOR, $88.00; NEW BLOWER MOTOR, $110.21; CABINET AIR FILTER GASKET AND BLOWER WEATHERSTRIP $27.73; R/R/ CABIN FILTER GASKET $70.40 AND THE COSTS OF INSTALLATION OF THE AIR FILTER $29.66. THE TOTAL IS $362.82. I AM REFERENCING FORD'S EXISTING RECALL NUMBER, 03V087000 AND THE COMPLAINT OF WILLIAM FORD #10184014.
HEATER BLOWER MOTOR WENT OUT ON MY 2003 FORD TAURUS. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE THROUGH FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AS THEY HAVE ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON IT. MY LOCAL FORD DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE THE MOTOR UNDER WARRANTY. WATER LEAKS INTO THE MOTOR THAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT IS DANGEROUS IN THE WINTER BECAUSE MY DEFROSTER DOESN'T WORK AND MY FRONT WINDSHIELD STAYS FOGGED UP. *TR

THE DEALER REPLACED A WEATHER SEAL AND COW PANEL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V087000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD). WITHIN THE LAST MONTH (EARLY FEB. 2008) I HAD NOTICED A SMALL LEAK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR MAT AFTER A BRIEF WARMING PERIOD (AND MELTING OF SOME SNOW). THEN JUST LAST WEEK (FEB. 18TH, 2008) MY 1-3 LEVELS OF MY FAN WERE NO LONGER OPERATING. THEN ON FEB. 23, 2008, THE 4TH AND FINAL STILL OPERATING FAN LEVEL STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. I CHECKED ALL FUSES APPLICABLE AND IT TURNS OUT THAT IT IS MOST LIKELY THE BLOWER RESISTOR THAT IS NO LONGER IN OPERATION. NOW I HAVE NO HEAT OR DEFROST AND IT MAKES LIFE MORE DIFFICULT WHEN I NEED TO LEAVE PROMPTLY AND I CAN'T SEE OUT MY WINDOWS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED SEVERAL WIRING MALFUNCTIONS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WOULD PERIODICALLY ILLUMINATE AUTOMATICALLY, AND THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ALSO TURNING ON AND OFF WITHOUT ACTIVATING THE LIGHT SWITCH. THE ENGINE WOULD ALSO REV AUTOMATICALLY AND, WHEN SWITCHING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THE ENGINE WOULD REV AGAIN. IN ADDITION, WHEN IN PARK, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF BY ITSELF AND HAVE TO BE PLACED INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO BE RESTARTED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC COULD NOT LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS ALSO PERFORMED, BUT IT DID NOT PRODUCE A FAILURE CODE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
THIS VEHICLE CONTINUES TO GET CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH CODE P0175. THE VEHICLE BUCKS AND JERKS AND HESITATES. THE CAR ALSO HAS BEEN USING ALOT OF GAS AS WELL WHICH IS ABNORMAL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE STRUCK A GUARDRAIL. THE VEHICLE SPUN AROUND AND THE FRONT END CRASHED INTO THE GUARDRAIL AS WELL. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE WET AND ICY. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT, BUT SUSTAINED A WHIPLASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE FRONT END WAS DAMAGED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 6,543.
PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD LEAK IN MY 2003 FORD TAURUS. TOOK CAR IN LAST QUARTER OF 2008. COULD NOT FIND CAUSE OF LEAK. WAS TOLD THERE WAS MOLD UNDER THE CARPET. LOVELY. BLOWER MOTOR NOT WORKING ON 1/17/09. TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW ONE. HAD IT INSTALLED AND HEAT/EXHAUST IS NOT WORKING AT FULL CAPACITY THE VERY NEXT DAY. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS GOING TO SHORT OUT AGAIN. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED AS THE CONTACT TURNED ONTO A ROAD. SHE ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. SHE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER STATED THAT A CABLE HAD BECOME STUCK, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY 3-4 WEEKS LATER. THE CONTACT PERFORMED THE PROCEDURE THE MECHANIC SHOWED HER IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE AND CONTINUED DRIVING. THE CONTACT'S SON EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE THAT WAS STUCK AND HE PROCEEDED TO DISCONNECT THE CABLE. FORD INFORMED HER THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT FOUND AN OPEN INVESTIGATION (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER EA08018 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:SPRINGS:COIL SPRING) DATE INVESTIGATION OPENED: AUGUST 28, 2008 DATE INVESTIGATION CLOSED: OPEN) FOR THE SAME FAILURE. HE HAS NOT YET CALLED THE DEALER, BUT BELIEVES A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FROM THIS OPEN INVESTIGATION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 106,000. UPDATED 02-18-09 UPDATED 02/18/09. *JB
ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGAN TURNING THEMSELVES ON AND OFF FOR VARIOUS LENGTHS OF TIME, WHILE SWITCHED OFF. NOW THEY RUN ALMOST NON STOP. DEALER SUGGESTS MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH (I CHANGED IT -DIDN'T WORK), OR A GEM MODULE. A SEARCH AT TAURUS CAR CLUB SITES SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. CONSUMER REPORTS IDENTIFIES OVERALL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN ALL TAURUS' TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. *TR
2003 FORD TAURUS WITH BROKEN FRONT COIL SPRING. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE WHICH PUNCTURED THE TIRE AND CAUSED IT TO GO FLAT. FORD TOLD HIM THEY WOULD PAY 50% OF THE REPAIR COST. *KB

ON HIGHWAY WINDOWS FOGGED UP TO ZERO VISABILITY TRAVELING FROM NC TO FL WHEN COLD. FORTUNITLY NO ACCIDENT. FORD IS A WARE OF PROBLEM AND KNOWS THE FIX BUT WHEN I FIRST TOOK CAR IN BLOWER WORKED AND IT COST $200.00 FOR JUST A CHECK. I EXPERIENCED A TIRE BLOWOUT (FRONT LEFT) WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT NOTICED A LARGE PUDDLE OF WATER ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. THE FAILURE OCCURS IN ANY TYPE OF CONDITION THAT INVOLVES MOISTURE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT WATER WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. WITHOUT REPAIR, WATER COULD SEEP INTO THE HEATER, BURN OUT THE MOTOR, AND CAUSE MOLD TO FORM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I PURCHASED AN 03 FORD TAURUS 5 MONTHS AGO FROM A FORD DEALERSHIP IN PA. UPON THE WINTER SEASON'S ARRIVAL, I TURNED ON MY HEAT TO HEAR A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE. I TOOK MY CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT MY BLOWER MOTOR WAS FULL OF WATER DUE TO A FAULTY COWL ON THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THIS DEFECT, AND THAT IT WAS SEMI COMMON, BUT THAT FORD WAS NOT GOING TO COVER IT UNDER A RECALL. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 500.00 TO REPLACE THE COWL, THE BLOWER MOTOR AND A RESISTOR. I CALLED FORD TO VOICE MY ANGER ABOUT THE SITUATION AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS THERE WERE BASICALLY NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS AND THAT IT WAS NOT SERIOUS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A RECALL. I DISAGREE. I DRIVE MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AROUND IN THE CAR. I AM UNABLE TO DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD BECAUSE OF THIS, AND CAN OFTEN NOT SEE OUT OF MY WINDER WITHOUT ROLLING THEM DOWN TO LET THE FOG LIFT OFF THE WINDOWS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I HEARD FROM AN ACQUAINTANCE THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL ISSUES POSTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE REGARDING THE FAILURE OF COIL SPRINGS ON THE FORD TAURUS. I TOO EXPERIENCED THE COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF MY 2003 TAURUS WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DUE TO COIL SPRING FAILURE. WITH THE INITIAL JOLT AND SUBSEQUENT DRAGGING OF THE CAR TO BRING IT TO A SAFE AREA TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP, I ACTUALLY THOUGHT I HAD HIT A PERSON OR LARGE OBJECT. WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR I FOUND THE THE FRONT END OF THE CAR SITTING ON TOP OF MY TIRE. MY MECHANIC ACTUALLY TOOK PICTURES OF THE CAR AS HE COULD NOT BELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE THAT HAD OCCURRED. I HAD TO REPLACE THE STRUTS, SPRINGS, SWAY BAR LINKS, LOWER BALL JOINT AND AXLE SHAFT. ALL OF THIS AT 61K MILES!! FOR A COST OF $1300.00. IN CLOSING, MY 2003 FORD TAURUS HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN 2 SERIOUS MALFUNCTIONS POSTED TO THE NHTSA WEBSITE WHICH COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO MYSELF OR FELLOW MOTORISTS IF I WAS NOT ABLE TO REACT QUICKLY AND CONTROL THE CAR WITH A COMPLETE COLLAPSE OF THE FRONT END OR COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WITH THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE (REF #FBN24-10467). BOTH OF THESE ISSUES OCCURRED WITHIN 4 MONTHS (5K MILES) OF EACH OTHER (66K - 71K) AND COST IN EXCESS OF $4,000.0 TO REPAIR. GIVEN THE NUMBER OF COIL SPRING COMPLAINTS RECEIVED BY THE NHTSA AND THE OPEN INVESTIGATION (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA08018) , I WOULD THINK EITHER FORD OR THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADMINISTRATION TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ISSUE A NOTIFICATION OF THESE SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THIS CAR (AND THE OTHER YEAR/MODELS LISTED IN NHSTA ACTION # EA08018)) AND THE STEPS TO REMEDIATE THOSE ISSUES BEFORE THE ISSUE CAUSES SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

I WAS DRIVING THE SATURDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING 2007, WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN WENT TO PULL AWAY AND MAKE A TURN THEN CAR STOPPED MOVING. I WAS ON A TWO LANE ROAD, WITH CARS COMING BEHIND ME. 2003 FORD TAURUS SE WAGON. WAS PULLING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED THAT CAR WAS DRIVING ODD. GOT OUT AND NOTICED THAT DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE WAS FLAT. WHEN IT CAME TIME TO USE THE HEAT, WHICH WASN'T NEEDED BEFORE THIS PROBLEM, THE HEAT ONLY WORKED ON HIGH. SOMETIMES IT WOULD NOT EVEN WORK. NOW, THE AIR DOES NOT WORK AS WELL. THEY WORK ON HIGH EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, BUT THAT IS IT. A MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS QUITE OFTEN IN THIS YEAR MODEL, AND WHILE YOU CAN JUST REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH FOR A TEMPORARY FIX, IT WILL CONTINUALLY GO OUT EACH YEAR, AND THE ONLY REAL FIX IS TO REPLACE THE AIR COMPRESSOR. *TR
