I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2003 FORD. THE CAR HAS 52,000 MILES AND NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW. THE CAR ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONE EVENING SO, THE NEXT DAY I BROUGHT IT TO BE SERVICED. IT WAS HOOKED UP TO THE ELECTRONIC COMPUTER ANALYZER ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE COMPUTER BOARD WAS NO GOOD. THE MECHANIC INSTALLS THE NEW COMPUTER BOARD. TWO WEEKS LATER I GO TO START THE CAR AND THE RPM IS ACCELERATING LIKE I'M DRIVING 60MPH WHILE IN PARK! THE BATTERY LIGHT STAYED ON THE WHOLE TIME. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR DRIVE THE RPMS GRADUALLY GO DOWN AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF. FINALLY, I HAD TO HAD AAA TOW ME BACK TO THE GARAGE WHO SERVICED THE CAR. THE ALTERNATOR WAS NO GOOD. AFTER THE NEW ALTERNATOR WAS INSTALLED THE MECHANIC SAID IT STILL DID NOT RUN PROPERLY WHICH, LEAD HIM BACK TO THE COMPUTER BOARD. THERE IS PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER BOARD AGAIN. I'VE HAD 3 FORDS IN THE PAST AND NONE OF THEM EVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER BOARD. *TR
2003 FORD TAURUS SEVERAL MONTHS AGO THE A/C WORKED ONLY ON HIGH FOR A FEW DAYS THEN A/C WENT OUT COMPLETELY. AS I DIDN'T HAVE MONEY NOR THE TIME TO FIX, I HAVE LEFT UNTIL NOW TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM NOW I SEE MANY PEOPLE ONLINE HAVE HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS. SINCE THIS ORIGINALLY OCCURRED I'VE NOTED WATER LEAKING ON THE PASSENGER FLOOR AFTER SOME RAIN STORMS. I THINK THE BLOWER FAN HAS GONE OUT AND PROBABLY WHAT EVER CAUSED THE LEAK CAUSED THE BLOWER TO GO OUT, TOO MANY COINCIDENCES AND OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. REFER TO RECALL REF# 03V087000 AND COMPLAINT #10184014. FORD SHOULD STEP UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEMS THEY ARE CAUSING DUE TO DESIGN FLAWS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE BLOWER FAN WAS VERY LOUD AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE THE HEAT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE A/C HEATER BLOWER FAILED DUE TO WATER LEAKAGE. AS OF NOVEMBER 2, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE RECALLED PART CAUSED THE WATER LEAKAGE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46,000. UPDATED 12-12-07. *KB THE BLOWER MOTOR MADE A NOISE AND DOESN'T WORK AT TIMES. 2003 FORD TAURUS. SEVERE STALLING PROBLEMS. ALSO, BEFORE EACH STALLING INCIDENT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON AND OFF, AND THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WILL FLUCTUATE. THESE PROBLEMS OCCUR WHEN THE AUTO IS AT DRIVING SPEED OR AT IDLE. THE MOST SEVERE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH. THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHED AND THE ENGINE DIED. I HAVE TAKEN THE AUTO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN NORMAN, OK. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. *JB
HAVE A 2003 FORD TAURUS SES; 80K MILES. INITIALLY, MY FAN ONLY WORKED ON HIGH. I JUST DEALT W/ IT, NO BIG DEAL, BUT EVENTUALLY, MY ALTERNATOR WENT OUT... SO AFTER I CHANGED THAT, MY FAN NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR & THE RESISTOR FOR IT. IN THE MEAN TIME, DUE TO THE FAN NOT WORKING, I ALMOST WAS IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE DEFROST NOT BEING ABLE TO DO IT'S JOB, AND BECAUSE THERE WAS NO HEAT, I GOT A COLD AND MISSED SOME WORK. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT DUE TO THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE I HAVE FOUND THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM W/ THEIR FORD TAURUS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM, IF THAT'S THE CASE, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE PART FOR A RESOLUTION. BAD CHOICE ON FORDS PART. NEXT TIME, I'LL BUY HONDA. *TR
OIL LEAK CAUSING BURNING OIL SMELL. HAD TO HAVE REPAIR SHOP REPLACE OIL PAN GASKET IN MY 2003 FORD TAURUS WITH 24VALVE DUAL OVERHEAD CAM ENGINE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHEN IT RAINS, WATER LEAKS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED THE BLOWER TO MALFUNCTION. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE AIR CONDITIONER BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND WENT FROM HIGH TO LOW; HOWEVER, THE CONTROL KNOB WAS STILL SET ON HIGH. ONCE HE ARRIVED HOME, THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND THEN TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONER BACK ON AND THE POWER LEVEL WENT BACK TO HIGH. APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES LATER, THE POWER WAS REDUCED AGAIN TO LOW. THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED COMPLETELY ONCE AGAIN AND THE CONTACT SMELLED BURNING WIRES. THE AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO COME BACK ON AFTER THIS FAILURE; HOWEVER, ALL THE OTHER COMPONENTS STILL FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS AND WAS INFORMED THAT EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PROPERLY, EXCEPT FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER MOTOR. THE MECHANIC LOCATED A RECALL AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,295.
I WAS ONLINE CHECKING FOR AN AC/HEATER BLOWER MOTOR AS IT ONLY WORKS ON HIGH. I DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR THE MERCURY SABLE (03V087000) REGARDING THE WINDSHIELD LEAKING WATER ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. THE LEAK DRIPS ON THE AC/HEATER FAN MOTOR CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT AND TO STOP OPERATING. I LIVE IN WA, I FOUND WATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR SEVERAL TIMES BUT NEVER FOUND THE LEAK. I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. FOR A TEMPORARY REPAIR, I CAN REPLACE THE BLOWER FOR $500. FOR A PERMANENT FIX, I WILL ALSO HAVE TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD, ANOTHER $500. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DECELERATING FROM 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC AND STOPPED ON ITS OWN. THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS JUMPED AND TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE BEFORE BEING TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50,400.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH IN GERMANY. A PRIVATE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VALVE SPRING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO NOTIFY A FORD DEALER IN GERMANY. THE DEALER STATED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BY A FORD DEALER, THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE OR THE PART THAT WAS REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, BUT THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER ALSO DISPLAYED THE INCORRECT SPEED. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURES, BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC INDICATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 122,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
HEAVY RAIN CAUSED WATER TO APPEAR ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR IN MY 2003 FORD TAURUS. HEATER BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING AT SAME TIME. FORD REPAIRED AT A COST OF $580, INCLUDING REPLACING BLOWER. REFERENCE RECALL #03V087000 AND COMPLAINT #10184014. *JB
MY CAR BEGAN MAKING A HIGH-PITCHED SQUEAL. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. UPON HEARING THE NOISE THE TECH KNEW THAT IT WAS THE RESULT OF A BAD CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SYNCHRONIZER. HE STATED THAT IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH FORDS. THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WOULD FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY RESULTING IN AN ENGINE STALL WITHOUT WARNING. SOMETIMES I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE ENGINE HAS STALLED WHEN BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, WHEN PROCEEDING TO MAKE TURNS IN TRAFFIC, AND OTHER NOT SO IDEAL LOCATIONS. THANKFULLY ONCOMING TRAFFIC STOPPED THEIR VEHICLES BEFORE IMPACTING MY OWN. *TR
CAR WAS OUT IN THE RAIN. WATER LEAKED INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD. HAD PASSENGER SIDE COWL REPLACED, RAINHAT KIT INSTALLED, AND REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR LESS THAN 14,000 MILES AGO TO FIX THE SAME ISSUE. HOPEFULLY WON'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR AGAIN. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A RATTLING NOISE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BELT FAILED. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER, THE NOISE CONTINUED. ANOTHER MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CAM SENSOR FAILED AND, ONCE IT WAS REPAIRED, THE NOISE CEASED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,884 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,300.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT NOTICED WATER LEAKING ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD OF THE VEHICLE. A FEW MONTHS LATER, HE BEGAN EXPERIENCING FAILURE WITH THE BLOWER MOTOR, WHICH CAUSED THE HEATER, DEFROSTER, AND AIR CONDITIONING TO NOT WORK. HE CALLED THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A COMMON FAILURE; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RECALL. THEY OFFERED TO PLACE A RAIN CAP OVER A NEW BLOWER MOTOR, BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
1) NORMAL USE. 2) WATER LEAKED INTO HEATER BLOWER MOTOR OF 2003 FORD TAURUS. BLOWER MOTOR FAILED. HEATER RESISTER ALSO FAILED. 3) INSTALLED NEW BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR. NEED TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL PARTS FROM TSB 04-15-3 SO PROBLEM DOES NOT REPEAT. APPEARS TO BE POOR ORIGINAL ENGINEERING THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO OCCUR. I HAVE A 2003 FORD TAURUS IT IS A FLEX FUEL VEHICLE. WE HAVE RECENTLY GOTTEN E85 GAS IN OUR AREA AND I USE IT PERIODICALLY. I HAVE BEEN HAVING "STARTING ISSUES" WITH IT; OVER THE PAST YEAR IT HAS HAD THE IACV REPLACED TWICE, THE FUEL PUMP, THE STARTER AND THE FUEL FILTER ALL REPLACED ONCE. THE FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED WITH IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. THE CAR EITHER WILL ACT LIKE IT DOES NOT WANT TO START (SPUTTER STARTING), OR IT WILL DIE RIGHT AFTER PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE. IT HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN USING THE E85 GASOLINE, BUT ALSO DOES IT WITH REGULAR GAS. FORD BASICALLY HAS TOLD ME THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANY STARTING OR STALLING PROBLEMS RELATED TO ETHANOL FUEL AND HAVE GIVEN UP ON FIXING MY PROBLEM. *JB
2003 FORD TAURUS, TRANSMISSION FAILS. IT DIES ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO WARNING AND FORD SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. OF COURSE NOW THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY ARE MORE THAN HAPPY TO REPAIR MY CAR. STARTED IN SEPT OF 07 WITH 73,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT IT IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. INTERESTING THAT HE CAN GET THE CAR TO SHOW SYMPTOMS, BUT THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, AFTER THEY HAD IT OFF AND ON FOR 2 MONTHS. FORD REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND FILTER AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS UNDER WARRANTY WITH FORD NOW. THIS IS STRICTLY NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF FORD. THEY PUT A CAR OUT THERE THAT THEY KNOW HAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE CARS. SHAME ON FORD. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS BROKE WHICH CAUSED A FLAT TIRE, DAMAGE TO THE AIR BAG SENSORS, A BREAK IN THE MOUNTING BRACKET, AND FAILURE OF THE SHOCKS. AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. CHECKED FUSES THEY WERE GOOD, STARTED ENGINE - UP AND BLOWER STARTED WORKING REST OF DAY. THEN IT ONLY WORKED WHEN IT WANTED TO. HAD DIAGNOSTIC 08/03/07 NEEDS BLOWER MOTOR. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. THE FRONT RIGHT COIL SPRING BROKE AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE. IT WAS AN IMMEDIATE FAILURE WITH A LOUD EXPLOSION NOISE. THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED ME FROM A MAJOR ACCIDENT WAS THAT I WAS JUST STARTING UP. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FORD HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH IN BUSY EARLY AM TRAFFIC I HEARD A NOISE & THE CAR WAS LOSING SPEED. I PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR IT WOULD NOT MOVE. BARELY GOT OFF TO THE SIDE. THE CAR DID NOT WORK IN ANY GEAR. ONLY 59000 MILES AND HAD BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY. NO ABUSE. TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP IN FORT MILL,SC. TOLD ME THE CAR WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BAD PLUS TRANSMISSION WAS LIKELY DAMAGED .HAVE TO REBUILD WHOLE TRANSMISSION. CALLED FORD MOTOR CUSTOMER SERVICE & ASKED FOR SOME HELP SINCE THE MILEAGE WAS SO LOW & THE CAR NOT PAID FOR. AFTER 2 DAYS SAID NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. THE BILL WAS $3500 PLUS $250 DIAGNOSTIC AND $80 TOWING. I AM SINGLE, HAD 2 MORE YEARS TO PAY ON THE CAR. I WAS JUST ABOUT TO LET THE BANK FIGHT IT OUT WITH FORD. I CALLED AMOCO AND THEY T WILL FIX FOR APPROXIMATELY . $1650. SO I AM HAVING IT REPAIRED. FORD HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN THE CARS AND TRUCKS FOR MORE THAN A DECADE. MANY CIRCULATED ON THE INTERNET WITH TRANSMISSION STORIES. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD. COULD NOT BELIEVE THEY WOULDN'T AT LEAST PAY FOR PARTS. I AM GOING TO FILE COMPLAINTS AGAINST FORD EVERYWHERE I COULD . I WAS GOING TO THE LOCAL TV STATION AND TELL MY STORY. PLUS I WILL NEVER MISS A DAY TELLING EVERYONE I MEET OR TALK WITH FOLKS COUNTRYWIDE AT MY JOB ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE, AND FORDS LACK OF CONCERN. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED . IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER FOR FORD TO HAVE HELPED WITH THE COST, THAN HAVE ME AS THEIR WORST ADVISORY. I WILL NEVER QUIT TELLING MY STORY. I WILL MAKE A BIG IMPACT IN THEIR ALREADY SAGGING SALES. IT WILL TAKE ME YEARS TO PAY THIS OFF & COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH THIS TRANSMISSION TYPE. IF FORD WANTS TO RETAIN THEIR HONOR& STOP MY TELLING THE STORY, THEN THEY CAN DO THE HONORABLE THING & HELP WITH THEIR MESS. I CAN COST THEM A LOT MORE THAN A COUPLE OF THOUSAND DOLLARS. *AK

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD GUARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAD WARPED AND CAUSED THE LEAK. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,300.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A WATER LEAK IN THE FRONT SEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE GALLIUM WAS LEAKING AND THEY REPLACED THE AC MOTOR AND RESISTER. THE DEALER CHARGED HER $700 FOR THE REPAIR AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN RECALL # 03V087000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 47,117.

I WAS RECENTLY INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION. I WAS DRIVING A 2002 FORD TAURUS SE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY DOING ABOUT 55 MPH. A CHAIN REACTION OF ACCIDENTS STARTED AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME TO AVOID REAR ENDING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. APPROXIMATE SPEED AT THE TIME OF IMPACT WAS 50 MPH. THE ENTIRE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR WAS DESTROYED. THE PROBLEM IS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO ONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE DRIVER SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL HARD. THE CAR HAS BEEN TOTALED. THE CHP OFFICE, BODY SHOP MANAGER, AND THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER HAVE ALL SAID THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. I WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED, I.E. NOTHING WAS BROKEN, AND THEREFORE DIDN''T SEEK ANY MEDICAL ATTENTION. SHORT OF BRUISING, SORENESS, AND A COUPLE OF SCRAPES I WAS FINE. I CONTACT FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND SPOUTED OUT A BUNCH OF LEGAL BANTER. I INFORMED THEM THAT I WAS NOT INTERESTED IN SEEKING LITIGATION, I SIMPLY WANTED A TECH TO INFORM ME OF WHY MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, WHEN IT MOST DEFIANTLY SHOULD HAVE. THEY AGAIN AND AGAIN GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND, ONLY GIVING ME THE PADDED ANSWERS I AM SURE THEIR LEGAL DEPARTMENT ADVISES THEM TO. FEELING AS THOUGH I WILL GET NOWHERE WITH FORD AND NOT KNOWING HAT THE ''NEXT STEP'' IS, I AM CONTACTING YOUR ORGANIZATION.
