VEHICLE ACCELERATES ON IT'S ON. VEHICLE DECELERATES VERY ROUGHLY WHEN APPROACHING ZERO SPEED, I.E., AT RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, ETC. HAVE NO IDEA WHY I AM TELLING YOU THIS. YOU CROOKS NEVER HONOR ANY PROBLEM YOU BUILD INTO THESE CHEAP VEHICLES. *TR
I NOTICED WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, WHILE DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY, THAT THE CAR WAS STILL CONTINUING TO MOVE AT THE SAME SPEED. THINKING IT WAS PROBABLY STUCK, I PUMPED THE GAS PEDAL TO POSSIBLY FREE IT BUT THIS ONLY INCREASED MY SPEED. AFTER REACHING DOWN AND PULLING BACK THE FLOOR MAT WHICH DID NOTHING, I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, STOPPED (AT THE LIGHT) AND PUMPED THE GAS AGAIN WHICH BROUGHT THE ACCELERATION DOWN... I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME WITHOUT THIS HAPPENING AGAIN, BUT NOW THE IDLE IS WELL OVER 1000 RPM, ENOUGH TO MOVE THE CAR FORWARD IN DRIVE WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL! AFTER DOING A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM/COMPLAINT WITH A 2005 TAURUS. WHAT IS FORD DOING ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION! *TR
VEHICLE THROTTLE STUCK WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE BEGINS TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. HAD TO HOLD BRAKE FIRMLY TO KEEP FROM HAVING SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON X-WAY. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN ABLE TO STOP AND PUT CAR IN PARK. ENGINE IS STILL RACING. HAD TO SHUT OFF. *TR
NO INCIDENT YET. THE GAS PEDAL IS STICKING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV UP TO 4,000 RPMS EVEN WHILE IN PARK OR IN NEUTRAL. IT HAS HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY WHILE DRIVING AND KICKING AND TAPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL HAS LOOSENED IT UP. NOW IT SEEMS TO BE STUCK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT A SAFE SPEED , WAS STARTING TO SLOW DOWN TO MAKE TURN, ENGINE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN, LUCKY MY HUSBAND WAS WITH ME AND TOLD ME TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND PUT FOOT ON GAS HARD AND SHORT TO STOP THE ACCELERATION, WHICH I DID. THIS HAPPENED AND I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER TO BE REPAIRED.MAY 7,2013. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CRUISE CONTROL SERVO CABLE. ALL WAS WORKING WELL UNTIL NOW AS OF AUGUST 2014, IT IS NOW ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AGAIN. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING AGAIN AS IT WAS REPAIRED A YEAR AGO? *TR
MY FORD TAURUS 05 ACCELERATED ON ITS ON OWN WHEN I DROVE AT 30 MPH ON LOCAL STREET. IT WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS MONTH! LAST TIME WAS ABOUT HALF A MOUTH AGO. AT FIRST, I THOUGHT MAYBE THE MATT STUCK INTO THE PEDAL. I TOOK AWAY THE MATT. BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY! I DID NOT TURN ON THE CRUISE. THE GAS PEDAL LOOKED NOT STUCK SOMEWHERE. I BRAKE HARD, PUT SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THEN THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. BUT I AM AFRAID IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN! IT WAS SO DANGEROUS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2005 FORD TAURUS, IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE INDEPENDENTLY OF WHETHER I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. IT BEGAN SPEEDING FROM 25 UP TO 50 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. I WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY STOP THE VEHICLE BY PUSHING ON THE BRAKES VERY HARD, BUT IT CONTINUED TO TRY TO ACCELERATE THROUGH THE BRAKES. I PULLED OVER AND PLACED IT IN PARK AND IT CONTINUED TO TRY TO ACCELERATE UNTIL I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE NOTHING WAS NEAR THE GAS PEDAL AND IT WAS COMPLETELY FREE AND NOT DEPRESSED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY FOUND THAT THE CABLE FOR THROTTLE/SPEED CONTROL WAS LOOSE, AS SOMETHING HAD BECOME WORN AND ALLOWED THE CABLE TO HOLD THE THROTTLE OPEN. THEY REPLACED THE CABLE AND THROTTLE, AT A COST OF $600. I SEE THAT THERE WAS AN NHTSA INVESTIGATION OF 2005 FORD TAURUSES IN 2012 FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE AND THAT THE INVESTIGATION WAS CLOSED WITHOUT A RECALL. I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO REOPEN THE INVESTIGATION OR AT LEAST ISSUE A WARNING AND REQUIRE FORD TO PAY FOR FIXING THIS DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION. THANK YOU. *TR
DRIVING IN A NEIGHBORHOOD AT 30MPH, WHILE GOING UP A STEEP HILL CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, ATTEMPT TO BRAKE WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, PUT IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT OFF IGNITION CAUSING CAR TO GO BACK DOWN HILL INTO A BUILDING. *TR
ACCELERATOR STARTS STICKING AT 65 MPH AND CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE. CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME. *TR
WHEN TRAVELING FROM WORK TODAY AT LUNCH, I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX. 35-40 MPH. WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN AS I LEFT PARKING AREA TO THE MAIN ROAD, THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR TRIED TO ADVANCE AND I HAD TO STAND ON THE BRAKE HARD AND PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL. I STOPPED AT NEARBY PARKING LOT TO CHECK WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE CAR. THIS SAME TYPE OF ACCELERATION HAS HAPPENED TO ME ONCE BEFORE WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR LOCALLY NEAR MY HOME AROUND THE SAME SPEED. THIS IS REALLY FRIGHTENING! TALKING TO THE MECHANIC HE LOOKED AND AGAIN FOUND THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE HAD BECOME DETACHED AT THE THROTTLE BODY JUST LIKE BEFORE. THIS IS THE SOURCE OF THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. THE PLASTIC CLIP THAT IS SUPPOSE TO KEEP THE CABLE ATTACHED COMES LOOSE FROM THE CABLE. I CHECKED THE FORD WEBSITE AGAIN AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL AT THIS TIME, BUT THERE SHOULD BE. WHEN IS FORD OR THE NHTSA GOING TO TAKE ACTION ON THIS BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. THIS NEEDS TO GET FIXED AS THERE IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THE SYSTEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING FROM A ROAD INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND MY VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN I LET OFF ON THE ACCELERATOR. INSTEAD, THE 2005 FORD TAURUS SEL GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK WHICH CAUSED ME TO SPEED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND I THREW THE CAR IN PARK, MOMENTS FROM CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY. *TR
THERE NOW BEEN 3 DAYS WHERE THE CAR STARTS ACCELERATING BY ITS SELF. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC BUT HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AFTER THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS, NOW I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. ABOUT WAITING A REPLY. I AM WORRIED ABOUT DRIVING THE CAR OR LETTING MY CHILDREN DRIVE THIS CAR, TAKING BACK TO MECHANIC TO CHECK CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REV. THE DRIVER PLACED THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVEN WITHOUT FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 35 I LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE DID NOT REDUCE IT'S SPEED AND CONTINUED WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY APPLYING EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO WANT TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. AFTER INSPECTION OF THE CAR I DISCOVERED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL THROTTLE CABLE HAD BROKEN LOOSE CAUSING THE THROTTLE TO STICK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE TRANSMISSION MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,100.
I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM TAKING A DISABLED PERSON TO THE DOCTORS AND TRANSMISSION JUST QUILT WORKING. NO NOISE OR ANYTHING JUST QUIT. WE SAT ON BUSY HIGHWAY FOR TWO HOURS WAITING FOR A FRIEND TO TOW THE CAR. JUST LIKE THE RECALLED VEHICLES. MY CAR HAS SAME TRANSMISSION BUT WAS NOT RECALLED. WHY? NOW I HAVE NO CAR. CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT FIXED. AND HAVE NO WAY TO TAKE THE DISABLED PERSON I TAKE CARE OF TO THE DOCTORS. *TR
AT LOW AND HIGHER SPEEDS THE GAS PETAL GETS STUCK AND THE ENGINE REVS HIGH. I HAVE TO PRESS THE GAS PETAL DOWN SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONCE TO GET IT UNSTUCK.
MY DAUGHTERS CAR ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. THERE HAVE BEEN 6 OCCASIONS WHERE SHE HAS TO BRAKE HARD AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. MY HUSBAND PUT GRAPHITE ON SOME PARTS BUT IT DIDN'T HELP. AT FIRST WE THOUGHT SHE WAS EXAGGERATING AND MAYBE FLOOR MAT WAS HITTING GAS PEDAL. NEITHER WAS THE CAUSE! IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.....I AM TAKING TO FORD GARAGE TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT. ASAP. *TR
FIRST NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT WORKING. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AT APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH I APPLIED THE BRAKES HARD AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 60 MPH. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AT APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE RPM STAYED AT 4000 RPM. I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL A COUPLE TIMES AND RPM RETURNED TO IDLE AND VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THIS TYPE OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION INCIDENT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN ON A SPORADIC BASIS. THE ACCELERATION INCIDENT FELT VERY SIMILAR TO ACTUATING THE CRUISE CONTROL ACCEL OR RESUME CONTROL. I SUSPECTED THE ISSUE WAS IN THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM. I DISCONNECTED AND REMOVED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AND THE INCIDENT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE. THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE WAS PROPERLY CONNECTED BEFORE I REMOVED TO THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS NHTSA INVESTIGATION #PE12005. THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE WAS NOT DETACHED AND THEREFORE NOT KEEPING THE THROTTLE FROM CLOSING PROPERLY. MY INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING AT A CONSTANT SPEED, THE CAR WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN. I SUSPECT THERE IS A DEFECT WITHIN THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM AND THE ENGINE IS GETTING A SIGNAL TO ACCELERATE. APPLYING THE BRAKES DOES NOT STOP THE ACCELERATION. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE CAR FROM ACCELERATING IS TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE OR SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND TAP ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. *TR
AS I WAS EXITING OFF THE INTERSTATE,MY CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO SHUT OFF. APPLYING THE BRAKE I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP MY CAR BEFORE REAR ENDING SOMEONE, AND THE RPM WAS STAYING AROUND 2000. I THEN NOTICED THAT THE GAS PEDAL WAS STICKING AND THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NO LONGER COMING ON. NOW THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL COME ON WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD ON ITS ON AND THE GAS PEDAL IS STICKING. THIS ALL OCCURRED WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL STARTED ACTING UP. THIS ALMOST CAUSE A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. *TR
ACCELERATOR STUCK AND MY SON AND HE BARELY GOT CAR STOPPED. NEEDED TO SHIFT IN TO NEUTRAL BRAKES BARELY STOPPED HIM..CAR CONTINUED TO REV AT 4500RPM.TOOK TO DEALER AND FOUND THROTTLE BODY CAM WORN AND SPEED CONTROL CABLE WORN AND KEEPING THROTTLE OPEN. CAR WAS TRAVELING AT 65MPH AND WAS AT THE POINT SON WAS SCARED GREATLY AND THOUGHT HE WOULD EITHER END UP CRASHING IN TO A TREE AND NEARBY RIVER. *TR
SEVERAL TIMES SINCE APRIL 1ST, MY 2005 TAURUS HAS SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE I HAD TO CONSTANTLY APPLY AND THEN RIDE THE BRAKES. I ALSO HAD TO PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL. *TR

THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH FORCE BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT THEN POWERED THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE STILE IN DRIVE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO PARK BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR INSPECTION AND THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE WEEK LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,297.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE UP A HILL. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
SLOWING FROM HIGHWAY SPEED HAD DIFFICULTY SLOWING, TACHOMETER READING 2400RPM, CONTINUED BRAKING SLOWED THE VEHICLE. AT A STOP, TOOK CAR OUT OF GEAR, ENGINE REVVED UP, TAPPED ACCELERATOR THEN RPMS DROPPED TO 700RPM. SECOND OCCURRENCE HAPPENED 3 WEEKS LATER IN LOCAL TRAFFIC. SPEED WITHOUT TOUCHING ACCELERATOR ABOUT 40MPH AT 2400RPM, TAPPING ACCELERATOR PETAL RECOVERED CONTROL. NO INCIDENCES SINCE BUT CRUISE CONTROL IS NOW NON FUNCTIONAL (RELATED?) *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND ALMOST WENT THRU NUMEROUS STOP SIGNS. MY IDLES ON MY CAR SHOT WAY ABOVE 4000 RPMS AND I COULD HARDLY HOLD THE BRAKE TO PREVENT IT FROM SHOOTING OFF. I PUMPED THE GAS PEDDLE A FEW TIMES AND THAT DIDN'T HELP.I HAD TO SHUT DOWN THE CAR COMPLETELY. WHEN I RESTARTED IT THE IDLE WAS STILL UP TO OVER 4000 RPMS AND PUMPING THE GAS PEDDLE BROUGHT IT BACK DOWN. IT STILL LATER DID IT AGAIN AND AGAIN I HAD TO SHUT THE CARD DOWN WHERE I SIT . I WAITED OVER 20 MINUTES AT ONE POINT AND RESTARTED IT AND THE RPMS WERE STILL WAY ABOVE 4000 RPMS/ BUT THIS IS HAPPENING NONE STOP. WE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED BY A PROFESSIONAL AND THIS STILL IS HAPPENING. THIS IS AN EXTREME DANGER AND I HAVE A CHILD THAT I HAVE TO TAKE TO SCHOOL AND I GO TO WORK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO DECELERATE BUT THE VEHICLE ERRONEOUSLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,500.
FIRST TIME AT 65 MPH VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE BY ITSELF, SECOND TIME WHEN DRIVING AT 30 MPH THE SPEED STARTED TO INCREASE BY ITSELF AND AFTER STOPPING THE RPM STAYED AT 2500. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER WHERE THEY RECOMMENDED THAT A DECARB OF THE FUEL INJECTORS, THROTTLE BODY BE DONE AND ALSO SUGGESTED THAT THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE HAD A ERRATIC CONDITION. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY PERFORMED MULTIPLE TEST DRIVES WITH AN I.D.S. TESTER AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. AFTER PAYING OVER $700.00 WE DROVE BACK HOME, WITHIN ONE MILE THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT AT A 4 WAY STOP AND HAD TO PRESS THE BREAKS HARD BUT THE CAR DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WENT THRU THE INTERSECTION. *TR
INITIAL INCIDENT: WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 40MPH AND PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO LEVEL OUT SPEED. WHEN I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL, IT STUCK AND KEPT ACCELERATING. I WAS ABLE TO RELEASE IT BY PRESSING THE PEDAL AGAIN. SUBSEQUENT INCIDENTS: I HAD A FEW OTHER INCIDENTS, WHICH ARE CURRENTLY ONGOING, PENDING A MECHANIC LOOKING AT MY VEHICLE. IN THESE INSTANCES, THEY ARE SIMILAR TO THE INITIAL ONE IN THAT WHEN I LET OFF THE PEDAL, IT STICKS AND EVENTUALLY RELEASES WITH A SLIGHT 'POP' FROM THE PEDAL AREA EITHER ON IT'S OWN, WHEN I PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN OR PRESS THE BRAKE AND SLOW TO A LOWER SPEED (AROUND 5MPH). MAJOR INCIDENT: ON ONE OCCASION, THE PEDAL GOT STUCK AND THE RPM WENT UPWARDS OF 4000-5000 AND THE ENGINE WAS REVVING. THROTTLE WAS STICKING AND ACCELERATING BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING.THEN THE ENGINE WOULD REV TO ABOUT 4000RPM. I HAD TO PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET TO GET IT TO STOP. THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER 2 DAYS. IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS WIGGLED THIS WOULD STOP IT FROM REVVING. THIS HAPPENED AT AROUND 1:45 AM ON SATURDAY, IN ANOTHER STATE, COMMUTING TO WORK. VEHICLE ACCELERATES WITHOUT HAVING FOOT ON GAS PEDAL, PULLED OVER ON SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED CAR OFF, TRIED TO START IGNITION AND CAR ENGINE REVS UP AND IS REALLY LOUD. I TURNED CAR OFF AND SAT FOR A WHILE HOPING THAT CAR WOULD START UP AGAIN NORMALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, EVEN CALLED LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND NO ONE HAD ANY IDEA WAS TOLD TO BRING VEHICLE IN AND PAY $138.35 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH WOULD GO TOWARDS REPAIRS. OTHER MECHANICS DID NOT SEEM TO HAVE A CLUES. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING QUITE A BIT, BUT THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS ON 02/16/2013. HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BUT STARTED UP AGAIN. VERY SCARY. I HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO PULL CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO SAFETY. TOO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT BADLY OR DIES. *TR

THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE AND DROVE DOWN A HILL AND INTO A FIELD BEFORE STOPPING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
ON THE MORNING OF JANUARY 30, 2013; I WAS DRIVING TO WORK APPROXIMATELY AT 8 AM AND NOTICED MY CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP. IT APPEARED TO BE ACCELERATING WHEN I WAS NOT TOUCHING THE GAS AND HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE FORCE ON THE BRAKE TO ALLOW THE CAR TO STOP. IMMEDIATELY UPON RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE CAR WOULD QUICKLY ACCELERATE TO 15-20 MPH. THIS CONTINUED ON AND OFF FOR MY ENTIRE 15 MILE COMMUTE TO THE OFFICE. STEPPING HEAVILY ON THE GAS PEDAL SEEMED TO STOP THE PROBLEM (SEEMED AS IF THE PEDAL WAS STUCK DOWN). PLACING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL WAS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. ON JANUARY 31, 2013; THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. HOWEVER, THIS TIME IT HAPPENED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. I WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH WITHOUT HAVING TO TOUCH THE GAS AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET TO 65. HOWEVER, THE CRUISE WAS OFF. AGAIN...HEAVILY PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED THE ACCELERATION. AGAIN, PLACING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL WAS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO STOP THE PROBLEM. BOTH MORNINGS WERE FOGGY/RAINY AND VERY HUMID. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, BUT I BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO IMMEDIATELY CORRECT THIS ISSUE WITH RECALLS AS A PERSON WHO IS LESS COMFORTABLE DRIVING OR JUST NOT VERY CALM COULD DEFINITELY HAVE AN ACCIDENT IF THEY PANIC. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I ACCELERATED THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAPPENED TO MY GIRLFRIEND EARLIER WHEN SHE DROVE THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE ACCELERATION BY STOMPING ON THE GAS PEDAL TWICE VERY HARD. MY GIRLFRIEND HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL WHEN IT HAPPENED TO HER. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND HAPPENS RANDOMLY AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS. WHEN IT HAPPENS THE ENGINE REVS TO ABOUT 4,000 RPMS WHEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL BEFORE GOING TO NORMAL. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT AS OF MARCH 2012 THERE WERE OVER 395,000 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND THAT THE NHTSA WAS INVESTIGATION. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND WELL DOCUMENTED. I AM A FORD FAN BUT AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED PROPERLY ESPECIALLY IN THE WAKE OF THE TOYOTA RECALLS FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS A FEW YEARS AGO. I CONTACTED THE NHTSA THIS MORNING TO DISCOVER THAT: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: PE12005 "A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED AT THIS TIME AND FURTHER USE OF AGENCY RESOURCES DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE WARRANTED. ACCORDINGLY, THIS INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED. THE CLOSING OF THIS INVESTIGATION DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A FINDING BY NHTSA THAT A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT DOES NOT EXIST. THE AGENCY WILL MONITOR THIS ISSUE AND RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE FURTHER ACTION IF WARRANTED BY THE CIRCUMSTANCES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE REVVED UP WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
EARLY IN THE MORNING OF JAN 16 2013 AS MY HUSBAND DROVE THE CAR, THE ENGINE SEEMED TO BE RACING FOR A FEW MINUTES BUT NOT ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. IT NORMALIZED AND HE THOUGH NOTHING MORE OF IT. LATER THAT DAY MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR WHEN SHE SLOWED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN AND COMING OUT OF THE TURN THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN. IT APPROACHED SPEEDS OF OVER 55 MPH IN A 30 MPH ZONE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. SHE IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS SHE COULD AND LUCKILY IS A STRONG GIRL AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW IT ENOUGH TO SOMEWHAT CONTROL IT AND BRING IT TO AN AREA WHERE SHE SHUT THE CAR OFF. SHE STATES THAT "IT FOUGHT HER HARD TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING AND WAS OUT OF CONTROL". SHE CALLED MY HUSBAND AND I AND UPON ARRIVAL TO THE SITE, MY HUSBAND STARTED THE CAR. IN PARK, IT RACED AS THOUGH THE PEDAL WAS TO THE FLOOR ALTHOUGH WE VERIFIED IT WAS IN FACT IN IT'S NORMAL POSITION WHEN NO PRESSURE IS APPLIED. AFTER SMACKING IT WITH HIS FOOT VERY HARD A FEW TIMES THE ENGINE SEEMED TO NORMALIZE. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE FOR MY DAUGHTER. *TR
HELLO, I'M SUBMITTING THIS REPORT DUE TO THE RECENT RECALL OF FORD TAURUS VEHICLES WITH THE GAS PEDAL STICKING. PLEASE EXPAND THIS RECALL TO INCLUDE OTHER YEARS, SPECIFICALLY MY VEHICLE'S (2005). ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, I HAVE BEEN INCHING ALONG IN TRAFFIC OR HAVE REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATES. I HAVE NARROWLY AVOIDED A CAR ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS ME, HOWEVER THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN MY BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING THE CAR. HE HAD TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKES HARD AND WE COULD STILL FEEL THE CAR ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE- AT A RED LIGHT. I HAVE DISCOVERED TAPPING ON THE GAS WILL USUALLY CORRECT THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER IT IS VERY HAPPENSTANCE WHEN IT OCCURS AND IS VERY FRIGHTENING. PLEASE EXPAND THE RECALL, THERE ARE NEWER YEARS' THAT ARE ALSO AFFECTED. STARTING JANUARY 7, 2013 I NOTICED MY GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTING TO ACCELERATE. I PUSHED IN THE GAS PEDAL TO UNSTICK IT. LATER THAT DAY THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD QUICK LANE FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHY MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT MY CONTROL. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR OR WHY THIS ISSUE WAS HAPPENING. THROUGHOUT THE WEEK THIS ISSUE CONTINUED AND ON FRIDAY JANUARY 11, 2013 I DROPPED MY CAR OFF FOR 2 DAYS AT THE QUICK LANE AGAIN. THEY COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR ON SATURDAY I WAS TOLD THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE WAS BROKEN, BUT THAT CABLE SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY AFFECT ON THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OF THE CAR. SO AS OF RIGHT NOW TUESDAY JANUARY 15,2013 MY CAR IS STILL ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AND I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL JUST TO GET THE ENGINE TO QUIT ACCELERATING. *TR
ON 01/03/13 TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS IN THE SINGLE & LOWER TEENS. I ENTERED MY 2005 FORD TAURUS CLOSED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IT WAS FROZEN. I THEN LET CAR RUN FOR 40 MINUTES BLOWING HEAT DIRECTLY ON INTERIOR DRIVER DOOR, I THEN TRIED PASSENGER DOOR SEEM TO BE OK. WHEN DRIVER SIDE DOOR BECAME UNFROZEN I DROVE OFF, THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR FLEW OPEN, I PULLED THE CAR OFF THE ROAD, I TRIED TO CLOSE DOOR, STILL FROZEN. AFTER 1 HOUR OF WARM UP BOTH DOORS FINALLY CLOSED. IF I HAD A PASSENGER ON THIS OCCURRING DATE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN EJECTED FROM FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, DUE TO FROZEN DOOR LATCHES. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME DURING COLD WEATHER. ON 01/04/12 LET CAR RUN TO WARM FRONT INTERIOR DOORS TO THAW OUT LATCHES, EXIT CAR THE DOOR LATCHES LOCKED, CAR WAS RUNNING, KEYS INSIDE, COULD NOT ENTER CAR, GOT EXTRA CAR KEY TO ENTER CAR TO SHUT ENGINE OFF, THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURRED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM DUE TO DOOR LATCHES FREEZING AND NOT CLOSING AND FLYING OPEN AND DOORS LOCKING WHILE RUNNING ENGINE TO THAW OUT DOOR LATCHES. *TR

THIS PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED A BIT OVER A YEAR AGO. DATE ABOVE IS NOT EXACT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH A MECHANIC, MY HUSBAND DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AND THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO GO AWAY. I'VE NEVER RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF RECALL NOTICE ON THE VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 137K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IN NOVEMBER OF 2013, THE TRANSMISSION DIED. THIS PAST SUNDAY, ON THE WAY HOME FROM CHURCH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 4500 RPM'S WHILE GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES AN HOUR IN A RESIDENTIAL ZONE. IT TOOK 2 FEET ON THE BRAKES, HAD TO MAKE A QUICK TURN AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL. I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP US FIND A SOLUTION. *TR
