TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VEER TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO INFORMED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE STRUT FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK OF TRANSMISSION FLUID FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF THE FLUID LEAKED INTO THE MOTOR. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANS-AXLE VENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH A 90 DEGREE VENT STEM SMALL HOSE WITH CLAMPS. THE 90 DEGREE VENT STEM PREMATURELY FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 70MPH WHEN I LET OFF THE THROTTLE BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. CAME TO A STOP LIGHT AFTER EXITING FREEWAY AND HAD TO SLAM ON BREAKS TO COME TO A FULL STOP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE THROTTLE WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING. CHECKED FOR A RUG OR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT BE STUCK UNDER THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING WAS THERE. ONCE I ARRIVED AT THE DESTINATION I PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND THE ENGINE REVED UP TO 4000 RPM. OPENED HOOD AND THROTTLE WAS NOT STUCK BUT AFTER I MOVED THE THROTTLEBODY TO REV THE ENGINE IT RETURNED BACK TO A NORMAL IDLE SPEED. THIS IS FREAKING DANGEROUS. DONT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP CAR.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO ALMOST 50 MPH WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE GAS PEDAL IN AT ALL. WHEN I TRIED TO BREAK, MY BREAKS DID WORK BUT NOT COMPLETELY. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN MY VEHICLE HAS LOST ALL POWER AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, EVERY TIME BEING AT AN EXTREMELY BUSY INTERSECTION. MY CRUISE CONTROL HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED AND THE ISSUE STILL OCCURS. WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON NOW, IT GOES UP TO 4,000 RPMS BY ITSELF IN PARK. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION INCREASE AND RPM'S INCREASE CAUSING CAR TO INCREASE SPEED. WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, I HAD COME TO A STOP AND NOTICED MY RPM'S WAS STAYING AT THE 2000 (#2) RANGE AND WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKE THE CAR TOOK OFF ALMOST HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT. I THEN NOTICED THE CAR INCREASED ACCELERATION ON ITS OWN. ON A BACK ROAD I DROVE FOR MILES WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS. VERY, VERY DANGEROUS!!!!!!
EXCESSIVE ACCELERATION WHEN IN MOTION WITH HIGH RPMS WHEN IN PARK ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER 6 MONTHS, IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES W/O RESOLUTION. FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED. THE CAR WILL MAINTAIN 80MPH WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR, IS DIFFICULT TO STOP, AND WILL ACCELERATE TO GREATER THAN 50 MPH FROM STOP WITHOUT TOUCHING ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IT'S A DEATH TRAP. I CAN DONATE CAR TO YOU IF YOU WANT IT.
BRAKE LINE TO REAR BRAKES FAILED DUE TO RUST. ALL (ALL) BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT. THE SERVICE BRAKES WERE TOTALLY INOPERABLE. A LARGE OIL SPOT ON THE CONCRETE DRIVEWAY WAS THE ONLY WARNING.. NO LOW FLUID LIGHT IS INSTALLED. THIS VEHICLE IS NON-ABS. MUCH TO MY SURPRISE, THIS IS A SINGLE RESERVOIR SYSTEM. IS THIS A SAFETY ISSUE? MILEAGE 103,000. IT PICKED THE BEST POSSIBLE TIME TO FAIL. REPORTED TO FORD.
I WAS DRIVING AT 20-25 MPH AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PREPARING TO STOP THE CAR BEGAN ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN TO NEAR 40 MPH. IN AN EFFORT TO STOP I HAD TO PRESS VERY FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE WHICH THEN CAUSED THE RPM TO GO TO 4000. I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO TURN THE CAR OFF. *TR

I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE CAR REDUCED SPEED, UNTIL IT STOPPED WHICH ALMOST MADE SOMEONE RUN INTO THE BACK OF ME. THE WINDSHIELD BLADES DO NOT FUNCTION, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT COME ON ALL THE TIME. IVE TAKEN MY CAR TO SEVERAL SHOPS THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE STATING THE PROBLEM DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. I AM TO THE POINT OF BEING AFRAID OF DRIVING MY CAR, I NEVER KNOW WHEN OR IF IT WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY.
AIR BAG LIGHT ON DRIVERS SIDE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED FOR ABOUT A YEAR HAS BEEN CHECKED BY A ASE GARAGE. THEY COULDN'T FIND A FAULT CODE. CARS IS SURGING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS DURING NORMAL OPERATION. I HAVE HAD TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL TO KICK IT DOWN TO NORMAL SPEED THEN BACK IN TO DRIVE MODE WHILE MOVING IN TRAFFIC.SOME TIMES IT SLAMS THE TRANSMISSION. THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS NOT WORKED FOR OVER A YEAR. ASE TECH SAYS THE CONNECTION IS WORN AND FAULTY. ASE TECH SAYS HE COULD NOT GET ANY FAULT CODES FOR THE SURGING IN SPEED AFTER LETTING IT RUN FOR OVER 45 MIN.AND TEST DRIVING THE CAR. ASE TECH BELIEVES THE PROBLEM IS IN THE PCM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. THE ACCELERATOR KEPT STICKING. I RODE THE BRAKE THE LAST 4 MILES HOME DRIVING IN TOWN. I WOULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A LIGHT AND ALL I HAD TO DO GO ACCELERATE WAS TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. THIS DID NOT STOP UNTIL I GOT HOME AND STOPPED THE CAR. RPM'S GOT UP TO 3000. I SEE THAT THIS ISSUE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION BUT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT NOW. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MONTHS AGO, I BEGIN HEARING A WHINNING SOUND COMING FROM MY 2006 TAURUS AFTER I STARTED THE CAR AND BEGIN TO DRIVE. THE SOUND INTENSIFIED WHENEVER I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT. I BELIEVE THERE IN A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING AND I FEEL THE STEERING SYSTEM IS SOON TO GO OUT BECAUSE THIS NOISE IS GETTING LOUDER. ALSO, DURING COLD WEATHER THIS PAST WINTER, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. ON ONE OCCASION, I HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR AND DRIVE. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY UNSAFE FOR ANY DRIVER. I CONTACTED A MECHANIC REGARDING THE LOUD NOISE WHEN TURNING AND HE SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS GOING OUT AND POSSIBLY VERY SOON. *TR
CAR WAS ACCELERATING SPONTANEOUSLY, APPEARS THAT THE ACCELERATOR WAS STICKING AT THE THROTTLE BODY DUE TO DEFECTIVE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE THAT DISLODGED AND GOT STUCK INTO ACCELERATOR MECHANISM. CAR WAS ACCELERATING ON FREEWAY AT 70 MPH AND CLIMBING, PULLING ON GAS PEDAL WITH FOOT OF NO BENEFIT. ULTIMATELY HAD TO TURN OFF KEYS AFTER HEADING TO OFF RAMP. NICKNAMED CAR "[XXX]" AFTER THIS FRIGHTENING INCIDENT. NOTICED MULTIPLE REPORTS OF SAME PROBLEM ON WEB WITH BRIEF SEARCH. CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH THREE REPRESENTATIVES. WONDERING IF THERE IS A RECALL. THEY WERE CLEAR TO INDICATE " NOT OUR PROBLEM" AS CAR IS "OUT OF WARRANTY". THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS INCREASED OVER 4000. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. I'VE OWNED MY CAR FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS AND AFTER A HARD RAIN OR A CONSTANT RAIN, THE PASSENGER FRONT FLOOR GETS SOAKING WET WITH WATER AND I HAVE TO USE TOWELS AND THEN RUN THE HEATER ON THE FLOOR FOR A COUPLE HOURS TO GET IT DRY. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING MY 2006 FORD TAURUS TO WORK ONE CRISP FALL MORNING, WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN HE HEARD A LOUD SOUND THAT HE AT FIRST THOUGHT TO BE A GUNSHOT. WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS THAT THE REAR WINDOW GLASS HAD SHATTERED ALL ON ITS OWN. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE LITTLE BLACK HEATERS THAT ARE CONNECTED TO THE GLASS TO WORK THE REAR DEFOGGER COILS WAS MELTED TO A PIECE OF GLASS. WE ARE INCLINED TO BELIEVE THAT THE REAR DEFOGGER MECHANISM FAILED TO AUTO SHUT OFF AFTER THE WINDOW DEFOGGED AND OVER HEATED WHICH IN TURN OVER HEATED THE COLD GLASS (IT WAS CHILLY ON THIS MORNING) AND CAUSED IT TO SHATTER. WE ARE JUST THANKFUL THAT NO ONE WAS SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME THIS OCCURRED AND WAS INJURED BY THE SHATTERED GLASS. *TR
THE THROTTLE OPENED SO THAT THE CAR WOULD PICK UP SPEED WITHOUT MY FOOT BEING ON THE ACCELERATOR. THEN WHEN I STOPPED THE ENGINE KEPT ACCELERATING, SO I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WAS AT ABOUT 4,000 RPM. I TOOK MY CAR TO A GARAGE AND THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE AND IT WAS IDLING NORMALLY. I SUDDENLY FOUND THAT MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY WHEN I WAS GOING AROUND 50 MPH. TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER. HE TOLD ME THAT HE SEES THIS PROBLEM MORE WITH FORDS. WHEN I GOOGLED A REVIEW OF THE FORD TAURUS 2006, THE VERY FIRST CONSUMER FEEDBACK THAT SHOWED UP STATED THAT HE NEEDED THE REPLACE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RIGHT AFTER HE GOT IT. I BET FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT IS SO SCARY TO FIND YOURSELF ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT PROPER WORKING BRAKES. *TR

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS BURNED. A POLICE/FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. WHILE IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. RECENTLY STARTED NOTICING A WHITE POWDERY SUBSTANCE COMING OUT OF THE AREA BEHIND THE AIRBAG HOUSING AND RUNNING DOWN THE BACK OF THE STEERING WHEEL HOUSING ON BOTH SIDES. WITH ALL THE NEW DATA COMING OUT REGARDING AIR BAG FAILURES, I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THIS CAR. IT SHOULD BE HANDLED/REPAIRED BY FORD AT THEIR EXPENSE. THEY KNOW THEY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH BAD AIRBAGS AND THEIR CUSTOMER'S SAFETY SHOULD BE PARAMOUNT! *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE, AND I HAD TO DRIVE TWENTY MILES TO THE MECHANIC'S GARAGE, BARELY BEING ABLE TO STOP THE CAR AND NEARLY MISSING BEING IN 3 ACCIDENTS. HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP IT AT THE END. WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK, IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ENGINE WOULD EXPLODE, IT WAS RACING SO FAST. MECHANIC SAW A CRUISE CONTROL CABLE DETACHED, AND RECONNECTED IT, AND "PLAYED" WITH THE THROTTLE AND WAS FINALLY ABLE TO BRING IT DOWN TO NORMAL LEVEL. I CHECKED AT THIS SITE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT DID NOT SEE ONE, BUT MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
CAR HAS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. HAVE HAD TO TAKE CAR AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER. LOCAL FORD DEALERS KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING THROUGH DOWNTOWN WHEN I NOTICED INCREASES ACCELERATION AND TROUBLE WITH STOPPING. WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN PARK, IT WOULD REV UP TO 2500 PM. I WOULD STOMP ON ACCELERATOR AND IT BROUGHT IT DOWN TO NORMAL BELOW 1000 RPM IN PARK. THANKFULLY I AVOIDED HAVING 3 ACCIDENTS. I WAS ABOUT TO CALL FOR A TRUCK BUT DID NOT. I MANAGED TO DRIVE MY CAR BACK TO WORK. MY CO-WORKER LOOKED AT IT AND SAW THE THROTTLE WAS STICKING AND CRUISE CONTROL CABLE CAME OFF. HE WAS ABLE TO REATTACH IT AND FIX THE THROTTLE. A WEEK AFTER HE FIXED IT I STARTED TO HAVE SOME ACCELERATION ISSUES BUT MINOR AND TODAY IT FINALLY GOT WORSE. I LOOKED ON HERE TO SEE IF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND YES I DID FIND A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH SAME ISSUES. I DO AGREE WITH A LOT OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT FIXED BY A PROFESSIONAL OR A NEW CAR. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR, STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN THEN WHEN HE PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO GO ON THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. IT SEEMED THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL BUT IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE TRANSMISSION SIMPLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, NOISE, LEAKS, ANYTHING. HE WAS LEFT STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD/TRAFFIC WITH A CAR THAT WOULDN'T MOVE. *TR
THE CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AND WAS DIFFICULT TO STOP. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AFTER I GOT TO A PLACE WHERE I COULD PARK. THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO 3000 RPM AND I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. I ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND ENGINE AGAIN ROSE TO 3000 RPM. I CHECKED TO SEE THAT THE ACCELERATOR WAS NOT STUCK TO THE FLOORBOARD. THEN STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN. AGAIN IT REVVED TO OVER 3000 RPM SO I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN THE IDLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. ONCE I GOT ON THE FREEWAY TO RETURN HOME THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALLS ON 2006 FORD TAURUS FOR ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *TR
SUDDEN ACCELERATION MANY TIMES AT RANDOM (I COULD NOT REMEMBER THE FIRST DATE OF THE INCIDENT SO I PUT THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT DATE, WHICH IS TODAY 6/9/14): FORD TAURUS 2006 ACCELERATES ON IT'S OWN AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING. RPM WILL GO OVER 3,000 AND CONTINUES. I HAVE PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AS I DRIVE BUT THE CAR STILL PUSHES AS I DO AND ACCELERATES. ONCE I PUT IT IN PARK, IT ACCELERATES OVER 3,000 RPM GOING UP TO 5,000 RPM AND NOT STOPPING UNTIL I TURN OFF THE CAR. THEN WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR AGAIN IT WILL GO UP TO 4,000 RPM. IT ONLY WOULD TAKE ONCE OR TWICE FOR IT TO TURN ON NORMALLY WITHOUT ANY SUDDEN ACCELERATION. BUT TODAY, AFTER ANOTHER INCIDENT OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION AS I WAS GOING ABOUT 27 MPH, EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE CAR REVVED ON IT'S OWN AND IT BEGAN ACCELERATING. I PUT IT IN PARK FAST AND TURNED OFF THE CAR; BUT, EVERY TIME I TURNED IT ON, THE CAR STILL WOULDN'T STOP ACCELERATING. I HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND IT'S STILL BOGGLING US WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH THE CAR, WE MIGHT END UP REPLACING THE WHOLE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES ALREADY. AFTER, PAYING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, TO REPLACE THE AIR CONTROL VALVE, WHICH WASN'T THE PROBLEM, IT WAS FINALLY DETERMINED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. *JB
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2006 FORD TAURUS AND SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING OUT OF CONTROL. SHE WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN BY BRAKING FIRMLY AND EVENTUALLY THE CAR STOPPED DOING IT. WE DID NOT DRIVE IT THE NEXT DAY. TWO DAYS LATER, I WAS DRIVING AND BRAKING FOR A RED LIGHT WHEN THE CAR AGGRESSIVELY ACCELERATED AGAIN. ONLY BY SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES DID I AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF AND ON AGAIN, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RACING OUT OF CONTROL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR QUICKLY UP AND DOWN AND THIS STOPPED THE ENGINE FROM RACING. SINCE THAT TIME, THE CAR HAS ACCELERATED MORE GENTLY (WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL) TWICE, BOTH AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BOTH TIMES, MASHING THE ACCELERATOR SEEMED TO TEMPORARILY RELIEVE THE SYMPTOMS. I AM GOING TO CALL FORD, ALTHOUGH I DOUBT THEY WILL DO ANYTHING FOR ME. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS JUST INVOLVED IN A COLLISION TODAY IN OUR 2006 FORD TAURUS. HE NOTICED A VEHICLE STOPPING IN FRONT OF HIM SO HE BEGAN TO HIT THE BRAKE. AS HE COASTED ON HIS BRAKES TOWARDS THE STOP VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM, THE CAR BEGAN TO AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATE CAUSING HIM TO REAR-END THE OTHER DRIVER. WE'RE PRETTY SURE THE CAR IS TOTALED. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS REVVING AT THE STOP LIGHT EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS ON THE BREAK. WHEN I TOOK OFF, I PUMPED THE GAS PEDAL A FEW TIMES AND IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES AND I NOTICED MY CAR WAS SOUNDED AS IF IT WAS REVVING UP HIGHER THAN I WAS PRESSING THE GAS MEDAL. I SLOWED DOWN TO 45MPH AND TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTICED THAT MY CAR SPED BACK UP TO 60MPH ON ITS OWN. I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO SEE IF I COULD AGAIN GET IT TO DISLODGE, BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. I PUMPED IT SEVERAL TIMES, LIFTED THE PEDAL TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP BUT NOTHING WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SLOW DOWN. AS I WAS ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY, I STAYED IN THE CENTER LANE AND KEPT TRYIN TO SLOW DOWN. I ONLY WORKED TO PUMP MY BRAKES AND THEN SLOWED DOWN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND CONTINUED TO BRAKE. I STOPPED A FEW CARLINKS AWAY FROM ANYONE AND THE CAR WAS STILL REVVING VERY HIGH. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT REVVED IMMEDIATELY, IT PULLED FORWARD AS SOON AS IT WAS IN DRIVE AND I KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I STAYED IN THE LESS TRAVELED LANE FAR AWAY FROM OTHER CARS, THEN COASTED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. HOWEVER, MY CAR BARELY STOPPED....MY BRAKES WERE SHOT. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND GAVE TWO MESSAGES TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY REV AND PLEASE MAKE CERTAIN EVERYONE KNOWS THEY SHOULD NOT PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE WITHOUT THEIR FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD GRANDSON WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO A HIGHER SPEED. I HAD TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED. I PURCHASE THIS CAR ON 11/2013; I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS. SINCE THEN, ON 2/7/14; AS I WAS DRIVING ALONG A MAJOR HIGHWAY I NOTICED MY CAR ENGINE WAS RACING A LITTLE HIGHER THAN NORMAL. I CALLED TRIPLE AAA FOR A TOW AND WHEN THEY ARRIVED I WAS INFORMED TO ACCELERATE THE GAS WHICH MADE THE CAR ENGINE SETTLED AT A NORMAL RPM; THEREFORE, I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON MY JOURNEY. ON MY WAY BACK HOME, I TOOK THE PARKWAY AND THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING AGAIN. THIS TIME, I COARSE THE CAR TO AN ACCELERATING LANE, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE; TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON AND HIT THE GAS TILL THE ENGINE SETTLED. ON JAN. 10 2014 I PURCHASED 2 NEW TIRES FROM LES SWAB HERE IN OROVILLE CA. IN OCT. 2015 I NOTICED A WOBBLE IN MY STEERING, TOOK THE CAR BACK TO WHERE I PURCHASED THE TIRES AND ASK THEM TO ROTATE THE TIRES AND CHECK FOR DEFECTS. WAS TOLD TIRES WERE OK BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, WENT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD I HAD A TIRE BAD TIRE SEPARATION, WENT BACK TO LES SWAB AND THEY REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE TIRE. TODAY THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP ADVISED ME I HAD ANOTHER TIRE SEPARATION AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. IT IS EVIDENT TO ME THEY ARE SELLING DEFECTIVE TIRES THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

ON 12/16/13, I LOOKED AT THE THROTTLE ASSY AND NOTICED A CABLE HAD COME UNCLIPPED. I REATTACHED THE CABLE AND I TRIED THE CRUISE CONTROL, IT ENGAGED. ON NOVEMBER 18, 2013, MY NIECE WAS DRIVING MY 2006 FORD TAURUS SEL THAT WAS JUST PURCHASED ON JUNE 25, 2013 AND EXPERIENCED WHAT APPEARED TO BE SOME SORT OF MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION WITH THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER DRIVING ON I-64, SHE WAS SLOWING DOWN TO GET OFF THE EXIT, BUT THE CAR WAS SPEEDING BACK UP REACHING ALMOST 80MPH. THE BRAKES HELPED TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN, BUT NOT COMPLETELY STOPPING. ONCE IT DID COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT THE RED LIGHT, SHE PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND IT CAUSED THE CAR REV UP EVEN MORE, LIKE SHE WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, SHE TRIED DRIVING AGAIN, AND IT REPEATED THE SAME PROCESS. THE DEALERSHIP (CROSSROADS FORD IN PRINCE GEORGE, VA) WAS CALLED THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND MY NIECE SPOKE WITH A SERVICE ADVISOR. THE ADVISOR INFORMED MY NIECE THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A MINIMUM OF $107 JUST FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT SEE WHAT WAS WRONG AS THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY COVERAGE I PURCHASED DOES NOT COVER THIS ISSUE. MY NIECE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT NO ONE SHE SPOKE WITH WAS SYMPATHETIC OR EMPATHETICALLY TO HER WELL-BEING, NEVER ASKED IF SHE WAS OKAY AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS OR EVEN A COURTESY REVIEW SINCE I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR ROUGHLY 6 MONTHS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT IS SURE TO CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH IF NOT ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.
