TRAVELING AT 20-25 MPH, MAKING RIGHT TURN ON WET ROAD, BRAKES LOCKED UP, CAR SLID, LET OFF BRAKE AND PRESSED BRAKE, AND BRAKES REMAINED LOCKED, SLID OUT OF LANE INTO ONCOMING LANES OF TRAFFIC. DEALER STATES NO PROBLEM WITH BRAKE SYSTEM, REAR BRAKES NEED TO BE CLEANED AND ADJUSTED WITH ONLY 26,000 MILES ON THE CAR. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE CONTACT 'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT, THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CRASH OCCURRED. THE CONTACT HAD PHOTOS AND A POLICE REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN PARIS, TN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2000. *AK
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS THAT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH, AND THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 65 MPH. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT IT WAS RAINING AND THE VEHICLE SLID INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE AND A SECOND VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PRIOR TO INCIDENT THERE WEREN'T ANY WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THREE PEOPLE WERE INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH. *AK
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD HE HEARD A RELEASE OF AIR COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKE PRESSURE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT STATED VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE WET. THERE WERE TWO INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE CRASH.*AK UPDATED 1/29/2007 - *NM
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR DOES NOT" ROLL OVER" OR START. THE LATEST PROBLEM OCCURRED ON 11/10/06. I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT A BUSY INTERSECTION GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. LUCKILY, NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED BUT THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY OR EVEN WORSE. *JB
CAR SELF ACCELERATES FOR NO REASON. IT HAPPENED FOUR TIMES TODAY DURING A 10 MINUTE DRIVE. IT HAPPENS WHILE CAR IS MOVING AND AT LOW SPEED, APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR.11\4. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH ON WET ROADS AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES LOCK CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADJUSTED THE BRAKES, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED.
AFTER COMPLAINT TO DEALER PRIOR TO THEIR INSPECTION, AND AFTER, TIE ROD BOLT AND ROD BROKE CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. NO FORMAL DATE OF SERVICE WAS MADE EXCEPT INSPECTION THE DAY OF PURCHASE. THREE TIMES DRIVEN AND THIS THEN HAPPENED. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT PASSENGER'S SIDE MIRROR APPEARED TO SHOW OBJECTS FURTHER THAN IT SHOULD. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE MIRROR WAS THE STANDARD REGULATION MIRROR FOR ALL VEHICLES, AND THAT THEY COULD NOT REMOVE IT AND REPLACE WITH A REGULAR MIRROR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR SHOULD BE THE SAME AS THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR. *AK UPDATED 1/26/2007 - *NM
I WANT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE VERY INTENSE NEW CAR HEADLIGHTS THAT CAUSE TOO MUCH GLARE AND BLIND ONCOMING DRIVERS AS A RESULT. ARE THEY CALLED HID LIGHTS? WHATEVER THEY ARE I FIND THEM VERY OFFENSIVE AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS TO ONCOMING DRIVERS FACING THEIR BLASTING LIGHT. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO GET THESE OFF THE ROAD. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED A TUNE-UP; HOWEVER, THE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW WOULD GO DOWN BUT WOULD NOT RISE UP. AS OF DECEMBER 27, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AIR BAG DEPLOYED AND PASSENGER AIR BAG EXPLODED WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING IMMOBILE BUT RUNNING. THE WINDSHIELD WAS FRACTURED DUE TO THE EXPLOSION OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE SERVICE DEALER.
I OWN A 2006 FORD TAURUS. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT LUNGES FORWARD APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES. THIS OCCURS MOST FREQUENTLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD (<40 DEGREES). THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND ASKED FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT MOST TAURUS' HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD/WOULD DO TO CORRECT IT. *JB
I HAVE OWNED MY 2005 FORD TAURUS FOR 15 MONTHS. RECENTLY, DURING COLD WEATHER, THE CAR HAS LUNGED FORWARD ~6" WHEN STARTING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE MORNING. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED A COUPLE TIMES THUS FAR. THIS OCCURS WHILE IN PARK. THE WHEELS DO NOT MOVE, RATHER, THE CAR 'BUCKS' FORWARD. IF SOMEONE WERE WALKING IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THEY COULD BE INJURED. THIS COULD ALSO LEAD TO PERSONAL PROPERTY DAMAGE IF THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED NEAR ANOTHER OBJECT [OTHER CAR, GARAGE DOOR, ETC.]. I'VE HEARD THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER, OLDER MODEL TAURUS' AS WELL [PROBABLY NEVER RESOLVED]. MY DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS AND REPORTS NO RECALLS PER MY VIN#. *JB
THIS IS A GOVERNMENT OWNED FLEET VEHICLE (THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT). THIS VEHICLE HAS STALLED FIVE (5) TIMES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD OF POMPANO BEACH DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
THIS IS A MUSTANG. THERE WAS NO CHOICE FOR MUSTANG ON YOUR VEHICLES SO I HAD TO PICK TAURUS. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY FUEL TANK. I WILL NOT ACCEPT GAS. IT MAY ONLY TAKE 1/2 A TANK AND STOP AND I AM UNABLE TO FILL IT ANY FURTHER. SOMETIMES IT WON'T TAKE ANY IF I HAVE MORE THAN 1/4 WHEN I TRY TO PUT GAS IN. SOMETIMES IT WILL FILL UP. THIS IS A BRAND NEW 2006 MUSTANG AND JUST PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2005. THERE WAS A FORD TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TSB-05-15-12 ON THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM ON THE 2005 MUSTANG BUILT AFTER 4/26/05 BUT APPARENTLY NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT SINCE MY CAR WAS BUILT IN AUGUST OF 2005. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD FORD ISN'T MAKING ANY CORRECTIONS AT THIS TIME. *NM
SUBJECT: HEAD REST CONSTRUCTION IN NEW 2006 FORD FOCUS IN OUR CIRCUMSTANCES, THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD REST IS ANGLED FORWARD ACUTELY SO THAT IT STRIKES ON A HORIZONTAL LINE ACROSS THE BACK OF THE HEAD. THE HEAD REST FORCES THE HEAD DOWNWARD INTO THE CHIN, AND MOST IRRITATINGLY CREATES A CONTINUING DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER WHO FEELS AS IF SOMEONE IS CONSTANTLY PLAYING WITH THEIR HAIR. WE WERE ADVISED THAT THERE IS "NOTHING" THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AS IT IS A DESIGN ISSUE GIVEN THE DEALERSHIP BY FORD MOTOR CO. HOWEVER, LOOKING AT OTHER FOCUS MODELS, CONFIRMS THAT OF THE TWO HEAD REST IN EVERY VEHICLE, ONE IS PREDOMINATELY "PUSHED FORWARD" OF THE OTHERS, AND THAT THE FORWARD ANGLES IN ALL EXAMINED HEAD REST IS DIFFERENT. WE HAVE TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT REPAIRABLE, BUT CAN BE MODIFIED. FURTHER DISCUSSIONS WITH OUR DEALERSHIP CONSUMER AFFAIRS MANAGER HAVE BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM SEEN NOT JUST IN THE FOCUS, BUT IN OTHER FORD MODELS AS WELL. IT APPEARS THAT THE USUAL FIX IS TO SIMPLY SWAP HEAD REST - I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IN SOME CASES THE HEAD REST ARE SIMPLY TURNED AROUND THE OTHER DIRECTION TO RESOLVE THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT - OR REMOVED ALTOGETHER. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF THIS CONCERN, MY WIFE HAS REPORTED ONE "INCIDENT" IN WHICH SHE ALMOST BACKED INTO A VEHICLE BECAUSE SHE KNEE-JERK REACTED TO REACH BACK TO MOVE AWAY "SOMETHING CRAWLING ON MY HEAD." I AM CONCERNED THAT WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT THAT CAN BE RANDOMLY WORSE ON SOME VEHICLES MORE THAN OTHERS, CREATES A DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING THAT MAY PRECIPITATE AN ACCIDENT. FURTHER, DEALERSHIP SOLUTIONS MAY EXPOSE CONSUMERS TO SOLUTIONS THAT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF THE HEAD REST AS A SAFETY DEVICE ARE YOU AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AND IS ANY EFFORT BEING MADE TO RECALL THE DEFECTIVE HEAD REST AND REPLACE THEM WITH ERGONOMIC REPLACEMENTS? 2006 FORD TAURUS WITH DEFECTED POWER STEERING PUMP. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DEALER DECIDED TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY AND FIX THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE. *KB
