TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS X. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN THE ENGINE RPMS, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR AND ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE RECALIBRATED. THE FAILURE DID NOT PERSIST. THE CONTACT WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT A RELATIVELY LOW SPEEDS AND HEARD AN ABNORMAL CLICKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LEFT FRONT CV AXLE ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE AXLE WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER; THE CLICKING NOISE CONTINUED WHEN THE CONTACT MADE A LEFT TURN. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME WHEN THE CONTACT MADE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD POTENTIALLY BE CAUSED BY THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER LUBRICATED THE FRONT BRAKES AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AND WAS DIAGNOSED A THIRD TIME BY THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO OBSERVE THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,162 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,788.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY STIFF THEN IT WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND UPON RESTART THE STEERING WHEEL FUNCTIONED NORMALLY; HOWEVER, IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN FAILURE BUT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE POWER STEERING GEAR. THE FAILURE HAD NOT RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,814. MY 2008 FORD TAURUS HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES . I HAVE REPLACED THE PADS TWICE. THE LAST TIME WAS ON 4/21/10. THAT WAS WHEN I NOTICED THAT IT WAS SMOKING AFTER I DROVE FROM WORK. WHICH IS 17 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. A EMPLOYEE AT AUTO STORE ASKED ME IF USED THE PARKING BRAKE OFTEN . I SAID YES HE TOLD ME TO STOP. THE BRAKE PROBLEM STOPPED ALSO. THE BRAKES WERE ONLY GOING BAD ON ONE SIDE. THE BACK RIGHT. I COULD SMELL THEM BURNING AND I DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS. NOW I AM WAITING TO SEE IF HAPPENS AGAIN I FEEL LIKE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS THE PROBLEM. BUT WHY I DO NOT KNOW . *TR
THE CAR HAS PROBLEMS WITH REAR CASTER ALIGNMENT. ACCORDING TO FORD AND OTHERS THERE IS NO ALIGNMENT FOR REAR CASTER. I STARTED NOTICING PROBLEMS AT APPROXIMATELY 15K MILES. AFTER TAKING IT TO AN ALIGNMENT SHOP WITH NO FIX I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER. THEY CONVINCED ME IT WOULD ONLY BE MINOR WEAR ON THE REAR TIRES. I AM NOW ON MY 3RD SET OF TIRES AT 49K AND AFTER TAKING IT TO MORE ALIGNMENT SHOPS AND A FRAME SHOP. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND FORD SAID I HAD SAGGING SPRINGS (I WAS NOT CONVINCED). THEY REPLACED AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. I TOLD THEM I WOULD HAVE IT DOUBLE CHECKED. GUESS WHAT IT STILL IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT WITH THE SAME READINGS I ORIGINALLY TOOK IT IN FOR.
WE PURCHASED A 2008 FORD TAURUS LIMITED AWD NEW FOUR YEARS AGO. WE HAVE HAD FOUR (4) SEPERATE TIMES WHEN THE TRANSAXLE WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. CAR WILL BE IN DRIVE, BUT VEHICLE WILL BARELY MOVE. VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO WE ARE SENT HOME WITHOUT ANY "FIX." LATEST EVENT OCCURRED ON 12/17/2012. DEALER'S RESPONSE: "CUSTOMER STATES VEHICLE STARTS, BUT WHEN PUT INTO GEAR IT DOES NOT MOVE. THROTTLE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING COULD NOT DUPLICATE CONCERN. ROAD TESTED MULTIPLE TIMES, CHECKED TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL COULD NOT VERIFIED [SIC] CONCERN." THIS WEBSITE, AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS ON-LINE, SEEMS TO VERIFY THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD'S TRANSAXLE. WE WONDER WHY NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS OBVIOUS PROBLEM. SITUATION COULD BE QUITE DANGEROUS. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NO "COMPUTER CODE," AND THEREFORE CANNOT OFFER ANY SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS ENTERING I 70 EAST IN COLUMBUS OHIO OFF THE JAMES ROAD EXIT, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO THE OUTSIDE LANE. I SPED UP TO ADJUST MY SPEED, AS A VEHICLE WAS IN THE SAME LANE. WHEN I ACCELERATED, THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY TOOK OVER AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND REVVED UP HIGH AND FAST. MY FIRST REACTION WAS TO HIT THE BRAKES, I DID, BUT THE BRAKES WOULD NOT DEPRESS OR BRAKE. I WAS TRYING TO THINK OF EVERYTHING TO DO AND MONITOR THE CARS AROUND ME, AS WELL. I TRIED HOLDING DOWN THE BRAKES HARD AND TAKING OFF WHILE THE CAR WENT FLYING BY TWO EXITS, I KNEW I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT BECAUSE I COULDN'T STOP. I CONTINUED WITH TRYING TO LOCATE THE FLASHER AND THINKING ABOUT HITTING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT, I DIDN'T BECAUSE I WAS UNSURE WHETHER IT WOULD COME TO A QUICK STOP. I KEPT PUSHING DOWN AND UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. SUDDENLY, THE REVVING BEGAN TO SETTLE DOWN (A FAST DOWNWARD REVVING SOUND) AND I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE THE CAR. I WAS UNSURE WHETHER TO PULL OVER SO I DECIDED TO CONTINUE TO MY DESTINATION WHICH WAS ONLY 3 EXITS AWAY. I PARKED AND LOOKED AT THE CAR AND ESPECIALLY THE AREA NEAR MY FEET, THERE WAS NOTHING INTERFERING WITH THE BRAKES OR THE ACCELERATOR. I PANICKED ALL THE WAY HOME, NOT KNOWING WHAT WOULD HAPPEN SO I STAYED OFF THE FREEWAY, BELIEVING THE FREEWAY SPEED WOULD CAUSE A SIMILAR ISSUE. AS SOON AS I GOT HOME, I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND SOME SIMILAR INSTANCES WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. I WILL CALL THE DEALER TOMORROW. I HAD A PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH THE TRANSMISSION STOPPING ON THE FREEWAY AND DISENGAGING WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN I STOPPED. WHEN I WOULD PULL OVER AND SWITCH THE GEARS, THE CAR WOULD MAKE A LOUD DROPPING SOUND. AND IT WOULD BE DIFFICULTY TO SWITCH GEARS. THE CAR SHIFTS AT TIMES AND KICKS BACK. THE DEALER REPLACED A SENSOR BUT, IT HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE COMPLETELY. I'VE TAKEN IT BACK AND THEY FOUND NOTHING. I HOPE THEY WILL FIND SOMETHING, AS I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR AFTER TONIGHTS EXPERIENCE. *TR
ON 8/10/2008 I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON HIGHWAY 41NORTH WITHIN THE CITY OF GREEN BAY, WI. AS SHE ENTERED THE PASSING LANE AND A TRUCK WAS FAST APPROACHING FROM BEHIND, SHE QUICKLY ACCELERATED TO GET INTO THE RIGHT LANE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL APPEARED TO BE STUCK WITH THE CAR NOW ACCELERATING UNCONTROLLABLY AND AT A VERY FAST RATE. SLAMMING THE BRAKES HAD LITTLE EFFECT AS THE VEHICLE WAS NOW ACCELERATING. SHE CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES FOR A FEW MILES UNTIL IT FINALLY RELEASED ITSELF. SHE THEN GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND CALLED HER HUSBAND WHO CALLED AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH BROADWAY FORD. ON 8/11-14, 2008, THE CAR WAS SERVICED AT BROADWAY FORD. THEY INDICATED TO US (AS DETAILED ON INVOICE # FOCS207273) THAT THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND HAD REPLACED THE THROTTLE PEDAL ASSEMBLY TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE. CINDY HAS NEVER FELT SAFE IN HER CAR SINCE, BUT WAS HOPEFUL THAT IT WAS AN ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME EVENT. ON 12/28/09, HE WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON HIGHWAY 41 NORTH ALSO WITHIN THE CITY OF GREEN BAY, WI. HE WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND NOTICED A CAR WAS VEERING OVER TO HIS LANE FROM THE RIGHT ENTERING FROM WAUBE LANE TO HIGHWAY 41 NORTHBOUND. HE ACCELERATED TO MOVE FORWARD AND OUT OF THE OTHER CAR'S WAY AND AGAIN THE ACCELERATOR STUCK. ONCE AGAIN THE BRAKES DID LITTLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS ACCELERATING AGAIN UNCONTROLLABLY AT A VERY FAST RATE. AFTER GAINING SOME COMPOSURE, HE PUT THE OUT-OF-CONTROL VEHICLE FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL AND HEARD THE ENGINE RACE AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ONCE AGAIN OPERATE NORMALLY. WE AGAIN BROUGHT THE CAR INTO BROADWAY ON 1/5/10. PAUL CAVAIANI (SERVICE ADVISOR AT BROADWAY FORD) CALLED JIM AROUND NOON ON 1/5/10 TO ADVISE HIM THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON A CALL FROM FORD. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, MY 2008 FORD TAURUS' TRANSMISSION SLAMMED, THEN ALL THE PANEL LIGHTS LIT UP AND THE SPEEDOMETER RESET TO ZERO, STAYING THAT WAY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. BECAUSE I WAS IN THE CENTER LANE OF TRAFFIC, ON INTERSTATE 75, IN ATLANTA, I WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE TO THE FAR LEFT OR RIGHT. THOUGH IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 4:30 IN THE MORNING ON A WORKDAY, THE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY AND FAST. I WAS AFRAID THAT THE CAR WOULD STOP RIGHT THERE BUT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO WORK BECAUSE I DID NOT DO ANY SUDDEN BRAKING OR SPEED SHIFTING. I KEPT DRIVING UNTIL I GOT TO WORK, WHICH WAS THE ONLY SAFE STOPPING POINT FOR ME AT THAT TIME OF DAY AND ON THE PATH THAT I WAS DRIVING. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE IT AGAIN AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC WHO WORKED ON IT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE AND HAD TO ORDER A REPLACEMENT OSS SENSOR. I HAVE MY CAR BACK BUT AM VERY NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING IT. IT STILL DOES THE SLAMMING(ON A SMALL SCALE) BUT EVERYTIME IT DOES THIS, I WORRY. WHEN THE INITIAL PROBLEM STARTING, I HAD ~500 MILES LEFT TO MY WARRANTY. NOW I AM OVER THE WARRANTY AND WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND COULD POSSIBLY STALL A CAR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, WITH NO ABILITY TO MOVE TO A SAFER LOCATION. *TR
I PURCHASE A NEW 2008 FORD TAURUS JULY 2009.. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE THE STEERING WHEEL BEGIN TO VIBRATE. THE CAR HAD ONLY 2328 MILES ..FOUND EXCESSIVE FRONT BRAKE ROTOR RUNOUT. RESURFACED BOTH FRONT BRAKE ROTORS . EIGHT MONTHS LATER BACK AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. RESURFACED THE SAME ROTORS AGAIN. THESE ROTOR MUST HAVE A DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 30-40 MPH THE STEERING COLUMN BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE REAR CAMBER WAS MISALIGNED; WHICH CAUSED UNUSUAL TREAD WEAR ON THE REAR TIRES. THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REMEDIED BECAUSE IT WAS CAUSED BY THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2008 FORD TAURUS WITH 20250 MILES HAS EXCESSIVE BRAKE DRAG, CAUSING DEEP GROVES WORN INTO THE ROTORS. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES THEY MAKE A GRINDING NOISE AND THEY ARE RUBBING AS I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD, THUS THE CALIPERS ARE NOT RELEASING ALL THE WAY. IT IS OBVIOUS THE ROTORS ARE TOO SOFT. AT 16500 I COMPLAINED TO SZOTT FORD IN HOLLY MICHIGAN AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME 139.00 TO TURN ONE ROTOR! I ASKED IF THE BRAKE PADS WERE WORN THEY SAID NO, I HAD DIRT IN THE CALIPERS? NOW THREE OF MY ROTORS ARE WORN. I KNOW THIS WAS A PROBLEM ON THE FORD 500. WHY IS THIS NOT COVERED? *TR
FRONT AND REAR COIL SPRINGS SNAPPED WHILE SITTING AT MY RESIDENCE. THE REAR BROKE LAST YEAR AND THE FRONT BROKE YESTERDAY, 11/20/2008. HAD TO REPLACED BOTH FRONT AND REAR SPRINGS PLUS A TIRE IN THE FRONT THAT WAS PUNCTURED WHEN IT SNAPPED. I JUST PURCHASED ALL NEW TIRES A MONTH AGO. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF IT HAD HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3 MPH THE RPMS INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE OVER 30 MPH. HE STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONE WEEK AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE IMMEDIATELY DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED EIGHT TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON TWO OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A FORD EVENT DATA RECORDER WAS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE. THE EVENT DATA RECORDER WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY AND DID NOT DETECT ANY FAILURES. HE STATED THAT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON JUNE 30, 2010 WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL GEAR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SO THAT THEY COULD DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AGAIN. THE CONTACT HAS REQUESTED TO HAVE A FORD ENGINEER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,600.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 2008 LIMITED TAURUS HAD 24000 MILES AND CURRENTLY HAS 26,000. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IDLING IN PARK A LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION ABOUT 95% OF THE TIME, BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. BUT THE CAR STILL DOES IT. FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *TR

NOT LONG AFTER PURCHASE OF FORD TAURUS, WHEN STOPPING AT LIGHT/SIGN THE ENGINE WOULD STAY REVVED UP TO 3000+ RPM -- ONLY VERY FIRM (TWO FOOT) BRAKING KEPT AT STOP -- MOVED TO NEUTRAL TO CORRECT. HAD DEALER CHECK (7/9/08) AND THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. HAS HAPPEN 3-4 TIMES SINCE. FORTUNATELY, HAVE BEEN AWARE AND COULD AVOID MAJOR PROBLEM. WITH RECENT DEVELOPMENTS, THIS CAR HAS SIMILAR CHARACTERISTICS. *TR
THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED IN A RENTED 2008 FORD TAURUS. I LEFT A RESTAURANT, DROVE A VERY SHORT DISTANCE TO MY HOTEL, PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE, BEGAN APPLYING THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE SURGED UNCONTROLLABLY. NO MATTER HOW I BRAKED, I COULD NOT STOP IT. IT TORE OUT A SMALL TREE AND LODGED INTO THE WALL OF THE HOTEL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, IT HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALER TWICE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS DEACTIVATED WHEN A PASSENGER IS SEATED IN THE FRONT SEAT. EACH TIME THE DEALER ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE FAILURE, THEY ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,300 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
I HAD COMPLIED WITH RECALL# 04V332000 FOR MY 2001 FORD TAURUS WITH HAVING THE PROTECTIVE SHIELDS INSTALLED ON MY FRONT SPRINGS. RECENTLY, WITH MY WIFE DRIVING TO WORK, THE FRONT LEFT SPRING FRACTURED. LUCKILY, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK USING BACKROADS AND NOT ON THE FREEWAY. BECAUSE THE SHIELDS WERE INSTALLED AND SHOULD HAVE PROTECTED THE SPRINGS FROM CORROSION DUE TO ROAD SALTS, I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT AS THIS TEMPORARY REPAIR DID NOT WORK. IN ADDITION, ALL OTHER STATES THAT DID NOT HAVE THE SHIELDS INSTALLED ARE BEING OFFERED A 10 YEAR/150,000 MILE WARRANTY. THIS WOULD BE HELPFUL IN SNOW STATES AS WELL. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 90,000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO TAKE ACTION. THANKS. *CN

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FUEL ODOR EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER IT WAS REFUELED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE OBSERVED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT ASSEMBLY FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING TO THE MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE FRONTAL SWAY BAR WAS REPLACED TWICE. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE HEATED SEAT SENSORS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.

THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE FAILURE BEGAN TO OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
I BOUGHT A 2008 FORD TAURUS IN SEP 2008. OVER THE LAST THREE WEEKS, I HAVE HAD THREE INCIDENCES OF ENGINE SURGE WHILE STOPPED AND THE BRAKES APPLIED. THE FIRST TWO INCIDENCES OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS COLD, SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING MY HOUSE. THE SURGE TODAY OCCURRED WHEN THE ENGINE WAS HOT. THE ENGINE SURGES TO ABOUT 2000 RPM, NO ACCELERATOR INVOLVED. I HAVE NOT SPOKEN WITH THE DEALER YET BUT WILL TAKE THE CAR IN FOR CHECK TOMORROW MORNING. THIS IS A HEADS UP FOR ANYONE ELSE HAVING THE NEW FORD ENGINE AND POSSIBLY EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. FOR A PERSON CAPABLE OF APPLYING ONLY LIGHT BRAKE PRESSURE, THE CAR LURCHING FORWARD IS A REAL HAZARD. *TR
