There were no warning lights illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V572000 (Back Over Prevention). The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who confirmed there was no recall coverage. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
The rearview backup camera is glitching often. It's either showing upside down or showing blank screen. When it's disabled, risk or injury and/or death can result. It has not been inspected by manufacturer. No warning message has been seen.
When the transmission is in reverse, the stock rearview camera view intermittently completely fails to display in the rearview mirror, is displayed upside-down, is distorted and/or discolored. It is failing more often than it is working correctly.
