THE VEHICLE IS LOSING WATER AND OVERHEATING DUE TO A BLOWN ENGINE HEAD GASKET. DEALER SAYS GASKET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BETWEEN THE BLOCK AND THE HEAD. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKETS BLEW OUT, RESULTING IN OVERHEATING, CAUSING A HOLE IN THE ENGINE DEALER WILL REPAIR THE GASKETS. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET HAS BLOWN OUT AT 80,000 MILES, CAUSING POTENTIAL SAFTEY HAZARD. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

I HAD RECEIVED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY NOTICE FROM FORD STATING THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE HEAD GASKETS ON THE 95 WINDSTAR. THE LETTER STATED THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY EXTENDED TO 60,000 MILES OR 5 YEARS. MY VAN STARTED OVERHEATING WHENEVER I WOULD DRIVE IT. I RE-PLENISH THE ANTIFREE SEVERAL TIMES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT HAD A HEAVY EXHAUST. I THOUGHT AT FIRST IT WAS A SENSOR GOING BAD BUT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP TO BE CHECKED. THEY INFORMED ME THE HEAD GASKETS WERE BLOWN. I CONTACTED A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM SINCE I HAD OVER 60,000 MILES ON THE CAR, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. THEY GAVE ME FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE'S NUMBER TO CALL. I SPOKE TO THEM AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I COULD UNDERSTAND THIS PROBLEM IF I HAD ABUSED THE VAN. HOWEVER, I KEPT THE MAINTENACE UP ON IT. I THINK FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO RECALL THE "1995 FORD WINDSTAR" TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
ROCKER ARM IS CHERPING AND KNOCKING. A TSB HAS BEEN ISSUED ON THE VEHICLE . THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
HEAD GASKET HAS BLOWN, LEAKING COOLANT INTO THE OIL PAN. A SERVICE RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THE OWNER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
FUEL TANK DEVELOPED A CRACK, CAUSING FUEL SPILLAGE. FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. *AK
THIS DEFECT WAS KNOWN ABOUT PRIOR TO OR WARRANTY EXPIRING. RECALL#98-MO1 AND WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED. THE ENGINE COULD HAVE OVERHEATED AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. NOW MY REPAIR BILL IS $2,000. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE TO EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I PERSONALLY KNOW OF OTHERS. *AK

WHILE TRAVELING NOTICED FUMES FROM THE TAIL PIPE. ALSO THERE WAS A SMELL. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. ALSO, VEHICLE WAS PULSATING. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATON. *AK

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND VAPORS FROM THE COOLANT CAME INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. ALSO, VEHICLE'S ENGINE STARTED STUTTERING. THIS WAS DUE TO BLOWN ENGINE HEAD GASKET. DEALER HAS VEHICLE NOW. *AK
THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING DUE TO A FAULTY ENGINE HEAD GASKET. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN.
VEHICLE STARTED STEAMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPES, AND BLOWING WATER OUT OF THE RADIATOR. DEALER REPLACED ENGINE HEAD GASKETS. *AK
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A TUNE-UP WHICH I DID. IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM AND I STARTED HAVING TO PUT MORE AND MORE WATER IN IT. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE ENGINE HEAD GASKET WHICH HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED. I WANTED TO CONTACT YOU BACAUSE I NOW KNOW HOW BAD THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN FOR THIS PROBLEM AND I THINK FORD SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE CONSIDERING HOW MUCH IT COSTS, I THINK IT SHOULD HOLD UP MUCH BETTER THAN THIS. *AK
WE REPLACED THE HEADGASKETS AT 38,000 AND HAVE JUST BEEN TOLD AT (72,000) THAT THE HEADGASKETS WERE REPLACED WITH ANOTHER SET OF FAULTY HEAD GASKETS, AND THAT FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM EVENTHOUGH THEY HAD THE LIMITED "RECALL" PROGRAM ON HEADGASKETS. IT IS TOO RISKY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OTHER THAN SHORT TRIPS. DUE TO VAST NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE RESALE IS HORRIFIC AND WE ARE STUCK WITH A CAR WE CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP AND CAN'T AFFORD TO SELL. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKETS BLEW OUT, CAUSING COOLANT TO BE ABSORBED INTO THE ENGINE. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
FAILURE OF FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON. ORGINAL WAS MADE OF ALUMINUM AND WAS REPLACED WITH A STEEL PISTON. WORK DONE BY AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP DUE TO THE DEALER REFUSING TO COVER THE COSTS. ALSO HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH HEAD GASKETS, ELECTRIC HARNESS, IGNITION WIRING
TRANSMISSION GOING TO FAIL SOON; DEALERSHIP FAILED TO DIAGNOSE IN 1997 UNDER OEM WARRANTY. HEAD GASKET BLEW, DEALERSHIP REPAIRED AT NO COST. GASOLINE SMELLS DURING AND AFTER DRIVING. *AK
FORD WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THERE IS AN ENGINE PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST YEAR MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE. THE FORD DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST $1500 TO HAVE SPARK PLUG WIRES, OXYGEN SENSOR, THERMOSTAT, AND HEAD GASKETS REPLACED. *AK

TRANSMISSION: NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT 64527 MILES, HEADGASKETS WERE REPLACED AT 48000 MILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AT 64527 MILES.
WHILE IN A FRONTAL CAR ACCIDENT SEAT BELTS DID NOT LOCK INTO PLACE. ALSO AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING INJURY TO CONSUMER.PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATON. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND IT DEPRESSED HALF WAY, BRAKES MADE A THUMPING SOUND, AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE, ONCE RELEASED. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED. *AK

CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL REGARDING THE HEADS ON THE VEHICLE, AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR THE VEHICLE STARTED RUNNING HOT, THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER REALIZED THAT SEVERAL THINGS WERE MISSED WHEN DOING THE RECALL REPAIR AND CORRECTED THE RECALL REPAIR, THE VEHICLE STILL CONTINUED TO RUN HOT, THE WATER PUMP AND RADIATOR WERE REPLACED, AND NOW THE HEAD GASKET IS BLOWN, THE VEHICLE DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL THE RECALL WORK WAS COMPLETE. *SLC

ENGINE HEAD GASKET FAILED AT 73000 MILES - HEARD OVER THE INTERNET THAT THERE WAS A RECALL UP TO 60K MILES - I NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFO ON THIS RECALL. HOW IS FORD ALLOWED TO LIMIT THIS RECALL TO 60K MILES DUE TO A FAULTY GASKET THAT HAS SINCE BEEN REDESIGNED? *AK
THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS WORKING SPORADICALLY. YH
WHEN PUTTING FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VAN WOULD SPEED UP. ALSO, WHEN ACCELERATING THE VAN WOULD GO FASTER THAN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO. VAN WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR TESTING OF ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THE TESTING DID NOT SHOW ANY PROBLEMS. NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED AND WILL ONLY BE REPLACED AT OWNER'S COST. *AK *ML

VEHICLE HAS A CRACKED VALVE COVER THAT CAUSES AN OIL LEAK IN THE ENGINE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. THRE WAS A (TSB) ON THIS PROBLEM. *AK
PRIOR TO RECALL, DEFECTIVE HEAD GASKET FAILED, CONSUMER (98MOI) WAS NOT RECEIVED NOTICE, NOW REPAIR DENIED BECAUSE OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD. YH
ENGINE HEAD GASKET FAILED AFTER WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, REPLACED TRANSMISSION AFTER WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED, STEERING LOCKED UP (REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY), WEARS OUT TIRES BECAUSE HAS PULLED TO RIGHT SINCE DAY ONE, HAVE REPLACED BRAKING SYSTEM TWICE
WELL MAINTAINED WINDSTAR NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION AT 52K MILES ,AND BLEW ROD BEARINGS AT 64K MILES REQUIRING A NEW ENGINE. HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF SAME PROBLEMS ON THE INTERNET. FORD HAS A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT. *AK
WHEN TRAVELING AND UPON ATTEMTING TO MAKE A NORMAL STOP, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOORBOARD, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, DELAER NOTICED THE BRAKE LINE CORRODED AND RUSTED OUT, CAUSING THE BRAKE LINE TO RUPTURE, AND RESULTING IN POOR BRAKE PERFORMACE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

ENGINE BLEW A HEAD GASKET , CAUSING ENGINE TO SEIZE, AND VAN WAS TOWED TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. A RECALL PROGRAM WAS IN EFFECT. MECHANIC BELIEVED THA TWHEN THIS ENGINE SEIZED THER EWA SINTERNAL DAMAGE THAT WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO ENGINE LATER THROWING A ROD. *AK
