HEAD GASKET FAILURE CAUSED EXTENSIVE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM DAMAGE, HIDDEN WARRANTY FOR HEAD GASKET FAILURE, HOWEVER WARRANTY EXPIRED (98M01). YH
ENGINE HEAD GASKET FAILURE OF 3.8 LITER V6 ENGINE. ALTHOUGH THIS FAILURE OCCURRED IN A MINI-MALL PARKING LOT, IT COULD HAVE OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WOULD HAVE PUT MY WIFE AND SON IN HARM'S WAY. AT THE VERY LEAST, THEY WERE STRANDED SOME 15 MILES FROM HOME. FORD HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE HEAD GASKET, BUT MY MILEAGE WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY. THE INCIDENT COST ME $703.84. *AK
WARPED HEAD GASKET DIAGNOSED AT 61,500MILES BY A FORD DEALERSHIP IN DECEMBER OF 1999. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET HAVE BLOWN OUT, CAUSING ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN TRAVELING AND UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE A NORMAL STOP, CONSUMER NOTICED THAT BRAKE PEDAL FADED AWAY, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, CAUSING POOR BRAKING. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
MECHANIC STATES THAT THE HEAD GASKET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.HE JUST WORKED ON A 1995 MUSTANG WITH THE SAME SIZE ENGINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. COINCIDENCE! I DON'T THINK SO. DEALERSHIP SAID IF THE WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT, THEY WOULD COVER THE COST TO REPAIR. 7,000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAD 39,000 MILES WHEN WE PURCHASED. WE HAVE PUT 28,000 MILES ON IT IN 4 YEARS. SOMEHOW I DO NOT THINK THIS LOW MILEAGE WOULD CAUSE THE HEAD GASKET TO BLOW. I ALSO KNOW THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE 95 MUSTANGS. IF IT WAS PUT ON THE MUSTANGS WHY NOT THE WINDSTARS SINCE THEY HAVE THE SAME ENGINE? *AK
THE ENGINE IS DEFECTIVE AND HEAD GASKET FAILED. YH
HEAD GASKET FAILED CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. YH
THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND THE COOLANT BUBBLED, ALLOWING COLD AIR INTO VEHICLE WHEN HEAT WAS ON. THIS IS DUE TO A BLOWN OUT ENGINE HEAD GASKET. DEALER SAID IT NEEDED A NEW HEAD GASKET. *AK
THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS AS WELL AS THE DASHBOARD DOOR AJAR LIGHT AND THE DOOR OPEN CHIMES STAY ON EVEN WHEN ALL THE DOORS ARE CLOSED. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSORS, IT IS STILL AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING PARTICULARLY WHEN CORNERING AROUND 45K MILES. EVENTUALLY, TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL DURING NORMAL DRIVING. THIS EXPOSED THE OCCUPANTS TO POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS WITH NO POWER TO ESCAPE IN TRAFFIC AND ON THE HIGHWAY. *AK

OWNER BELIEVED THAT PROBLEM WAS LINKED TO ALUMINUM SEALS USED WHEN THE CARS WERE FIRST MANUFACTURED, WHICH WERE LATER CHANGED TO STEEL. OWNER THOUGHT THAT ALUMIINUM SEALS SHOULD BE RECALLED. *AK *

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL READS THAT A DOOR IS OPENED EVEN WHEN ALL ARE CLOSED, THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON WHICH CAUSES A HAZARD AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE DRIVER CANNOT SEE OUT THE WINDOWS VERY WELL. NLM

CONSUMER RECIEVED REGIONAL RECALL FOR POSSIBLE FUEL TANK AND BRACKET FAILURE IF CONSUMER LIVES IN HIGH TEMPERATURE REGIONS, ORIGINALLY MANUFACURER REFUSED TO REPLACE TANK OR BRACKETS AND THEN RECONSIDERED AND DECIDED TO CHANGE THE BRACKETS. CONSUMER FEELS IT IS UNFAIR FOR THE MANUFACTURER NOT TO CHANGE THE TANK AS WELL, ALTHOUGH THEY DO NOT LIVE IN THE DESIGNATED AREAS WITH HIGH TEMPS. NLM
