WATER PUMP SEAL FAILED RESULTING IN SHORT BLOCK REPLACEMENT, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND SURGE SEVERAL TIMES. NLM
THE NUMEROUS FAILURES ON FORD TRANSMISSIONS ARE BECAUSE THEY USED ALUMINUM INSTEAD OF STEEL IN A HIGH PRESSURE AREA,IT WILL PROBABLY TAKE A CLASS ACTION SUIT JUST LIKE THE HEAD GASKETS AND THE IGNITIONS. *AK
ABS PROBLEMS: WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, PEDAL GOES TOO FAR DOWN BEFORE BRAKE SYSTEM WILL ENGAGE. THIS HAPPENS DURING NORMAL STOPPING ON SMOOTH AND DRY ROAD CONDITONS. ABS WARNING LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON. VAN HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIPS A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES.DEALERSHIP IS NOT ABLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

TRANSMISSION DOESN'T NOT ENGAGE AFTER YOU STOP AND A STOP LIGHT, WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS IT JURKS YOU FORWARD ALSO DOING THE SAME THING IN REVERSE, THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEM YEAR AND FORD HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT IS ANY BODY CONCERNED OR DOES A DEATH HAVE TO ACCUR BEFORE ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST THEM. *AK

WATER PUMP AND TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO CRACKED FORWARD PISTON WHICH WAS MADE OUT OF ALUMINIUM, CAUSING VEHICLE TO JERK AND SLOW DOWN SPEED. ALSO, ENGINE BLEWOUT ABOUT 1 WEEK AFTER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED DUE TO HEAD GASKET.*AK
CORRODED BRAKE LINE ON FRONT RIGHT BRAKE CALIPER, DRAINED BRAKE FLUID CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL. *CJ
NOTHING NEW TO NTSA: HEAD GASKET FAILURE, TIMING COVER ROTTING, ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ON, DOOR AGAR LIGHT ON, ETC....YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH 1995 FORD WINDSTAR AND RELATED PROBLEMS!*AK
ALL HOSES AND PIPES WERE RUSTED AND NOONE WILL REPLACE THEM FOR US. THE VEHICLE ORIGINATED IN CANADA AND WE WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS. WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NO WATER DAMAGE, BUT WE NOW SEE RUST UP UNDER CAR, IN DOOR AND ON ENGINE.
VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO CONSUMER WITH A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL FOR HEAD GASKET ON NOV. 30, 2000. PROGRAM ENDED IN OCTOBER, 2000. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD GO UP/DOWN. WOULD ADD FREEON TO TRY TO CORRECT. HAD MAP SENSOR CHANGED. VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FLUID. THERE WAS LIQUID IN THE EXHAUST PIPE (ANTIFREEZE). BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE DEALER & MANUFACTURER. WAS INFORMED THAT PROGRAM, WHICH WAS FOR 7 YEARS, AND UNLIMITED MILEAGE FROM DATE OF VEHICLE'S MANUFACTURER, HAS EXPIRED & NOTHING COULD BE DONE. VEHICLE WAS NOT BEYOND THE 7 YEAR LIMIT. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING VEHICLE OVERHEATED. HAD VEHICLE SERVICED, AND TECHNICIAN NOTICED HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMAITION.*AK
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE, THE CONSUMER PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL FIRMLY AND IT FINALLY CAUGHT AND JERKED FORWARD, DUE TO FAILURE OF THE FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON IN THE TRANSMISSION. NLM
I JUST WANTED TO FIND OUT ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING WITH MY 1995 FORD WINDSTAR. I HAD IT IN MY LOCAL REPAIR SHOP FOR HAVE THE OIL CHANGED WHEN I TOLD THEM THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE HAD GONE CRAZY THAT MORNING. WE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND THE RADIATOR CAP THINKING THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT MORNING IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING SO I CONTACTED THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY GOT TO LOOKING AND FIGURED OUT THAT THE HEAD GASKET HAD BROKEN. I HAVE MY CAR IN THE SHOP GETTING THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF. I FILL THAT THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE I HAVE FOUND OUT JUST TODAY THAT THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL OF THESE VANS HEADGASKETS REPLACED FOR THE SAME REASON. I KNOW THAT THE TAURUS & MUSTANG HAD A RECALL ON THESE GASKETS AND THAT THEY ARE THE SAME ENGINE THAT I HAVE IN MY WINDSTAR (JUST TURNED SIDEWAYS). IF YOU WOULD PLEASE JUST LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO THAT WILL KEEP SOMEONE ELSE FROM GETTING STUCK WITH A REPAIR BILL LIKE I AM ABOUT TO.
THIS VEHICLE HAS A SALVAGED TITLE, AND LAST MARCH FORD SENT ME THE INFORMATION ON THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE HEAD GASKET PROBLEMS. THEY THEN RESCENDED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SAYING THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A SALVAGED TITLE. DO I HAVE A CLAIM AGAINST THEM? THEN, JUST THIS MONTH I FOUND OUT THAT THE HEAD NOW HAS A CRACK IN IT, THUS ANOTHER MAJOR REPAIR. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP ON THIS MATTER. THANKS. RICH ROHDE. *AK

ONE OF THE FRONT FIRESTONE TIRES (NO SIZE) HAD A BULGE ON IT, DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE REPLACED, LATER THE CONSUMER REPLACED BOTH REAR TIRES AS WELL. *SLC
WHILE TRAVELING AT 20 MPH ABS SYSTEM IS ACTIVING WHILE ON DRY ROADS, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WITHOUT ANY INDICATION. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKETS HAVE GONE BAD, CAUSING A MAJOR OIL LEAK IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK
I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH THROUGH THE INTERNET AS WELL AS CONSUMER REPORTS. FORD HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THEIR 95 WINDSTARS, INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSIONS. MY CAR HAS BEEN LEAKING TRANI FLUID FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND I'M HOPING THESE MINIVANS ARE RECALLED BEFORE MY TRANI BLOWS. WITH SO MANY PROBLEMS, I'M SURPRISED FORD HASN'T BEEN ASKED TO TAKE THE DARN THING COMPLETELY OFF THE ROAD! THANKS FOR LISTENING!! *AK
WHEN VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN, AND WHEN A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN IS MADE, NOISE OCCURS IN FRONT END OF VEHICLE ON DRIVER'S SIDE, CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK CONSUMER SAID PROBLEM COULD QUITE POSSIBLY BE FROM STRUT OR SPRING. *YH
THE 3.8 ENGINE , COVER FOR ANTI FREEZE HAS DETERIORATED, AND IS LEAKING ANTIFREEZE INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *AK
FRONT LEFT LEAF SPRING BROKE WHILE DRIVING AT 65-70 MPH. SPRING PUNCTURED TIRE, CAUSING A BLOWOUT. FORD HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
HEAD GASKET HAS FAILED, CAUSING ANTI-FREEZE TO LEAK. FORD WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILS TO MAKE A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM ONE GEAR TO NEXT. VEHICLE WOULD JUMP WHEN SHIFTING. PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. ROD BEARINGS WAS GOING, WOULD MAKE A RATTLING NOISE. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILED ONE MONTH AFTER CONSUMER'S EXTENDED WARRANTY. VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING PROBLEMS, HEAD GASKET BLEW CAUSING TIMING COVER GASKET TO FAIL, AFTER REPAIR OF HEAD GASKET, ENGINE STARTED TO RATTLE, NOW THERE IS A BEARING PROBLEM WHICH IS DUE TO VEHICLE OVERHEATING, DEALER STATED VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. *SLC THE TRANSMISSION FAILED THE HEAD GASKET BLEW THE TIMING COVER GASKET FAILED. THE CONSUMER WANTS REIMBURSMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE ABOVE FAILED PARTS THAT HAD BEEN REPLACED.
HEAD GASKETS HAVE BLOWN PREMATURELY. DEALER REPLACED HEAD GASKETS AT 80000 MILES UNDER T EXTENDED WARRANTY POLICY. HEAD GASKETS HAVE BLOWED SINCE THEN. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN DRIVING NO MORE THEN OVER TWO MILES VEHICLE WAS LEAKING COOLANT AND OVERHEATED. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER CORRECTED PROBLEM UNDER RECALL AT 65 THOUSAND MILES. HEAD GASKET REPLACED WITH AN ALUMINUM PART. VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM AT ONE HUNDRED NINE THOUSAND MILES. MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO CORRECT PROBLEM. *AK THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF BOTH THE TRANSMISSION AND HEAD GASKET PROBLEMS EVEN BEFORE THE CONSUMER PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. STILL, THERE WERE NO ATTEMPT BY THE MANUFACTURER TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS. *YH
RIGHT COIL SPRING BROKEN AND PUNCTURED TIRE WHILE BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVER UNDER A RECALL. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AND COMING TO A STOP AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE APPLIED FORCE TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND. ALSO, VEHICLE DID NOT GO INTO GEAR. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER NOTED PROBLEM WAS LINKED TO A CRACK IN TRANSMISSION DUE TO TYPE OF MATERIAL USED FOR TRANSMISSION. CONSUMER ALSO, TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
BOTH HEAD GASKETS FAILED MONTHS AFTER THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THEY (MANUFACTURER) WOULD REPLACE THEM FOR FREE, THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS SLIGHTLY OVER THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT, IN JAN 01 THE OIL VALVE STUCK CAUSING THE OIL NOT TO FLOW THUS BLOWING OFF THE OIL FILER, THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED. NLM
FUEL PUMP FAILED, LOST COMPLETE POWER WHILE DRIVING 50 TO 60 MPH. ENGINE DIES WHEN OUTSIDE TEMP IS HOT AND A/C IN USE, REPLACE FUEL PUMP AND SENDER. RIGHT REAR WHEEL SEAL LEAKS, DUE TO RIGHT REAR INNER OIL SEAL FAULTY, REMOVE WHEEL, REPLACED RIGHT REAR INNER GREASE SEAL, CLEANED BRAKE AND WHEELS, CHECK REAR END GREASE AND FILLED TO PROPER LEVEL. TRANSMISSION DISENGES FROM ENGINE AND CHARGED UP, ALMOST LOST CONTROL.
LOUD NOISE FROM FRONT COIL SPRINGS, BUT FORD DEALERS SAY NO PROBLEM AS NOISE IS NORMAL. *AK
BOTH FRONT SUSPENSION COILS HAVE BOKEN ONTO FRONT WHEELS. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
THE CONSUMER IS HAVING PROBLEMS HAVING VEHICLE REPAIRED PROMPTLY FOR A FAULTY ALUMINUM RING USED IN THE TRANSMISSION (99R33). NLM
HEAD GASKET FAILURE. *AK
VAN HAS BEEN RUNNING HOT AND NGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME CAME ON. THEY TOLD US AT THE DEALER WE NEEDED A NEW HEAD GASKET. DETROIT TOLD US IT WAS UNDER THE ONP BUT THEN WHEN WE TOLD THE DEALER THAT THEY SAID WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE AND THAT WASN'T COVERED. LATER THAT DAY WE FOUND OUT THEY MADE A MISTAKE AND WEREN'T COVERING THE HEAD GASKET EITHER. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING FOR THE CONSUMER WITH THIS BIG PROBLEM. THEY KEEP PASSING THE BUCK WHEN IT SEEMS TO BE THEIR FAULT. ISN'T THIS TYPICAL OF FORD WITH ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS THEY'RE HAVING THAT THEY WON'T TAKE ANY BLAME. *AK
THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE VEHICLE HAS AN ELECTRICAL COMPUTER SYSTEM DEFECT WHICH CAUSES COOLANT BACK UP AND EFFECTS THE TRANSMISSION BURNING IT OUT, IT ALSO CAUSES REPEATED DAMAGE TO THE HEAD GASKET AND TRANSMISSION, THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL REPAIRS MADE. NLM
CONSUMER STATES ABS LIGHT COMES ON, SHE ALSO HEARS NOISES, CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY TEST DROVE IT AND ADVISED CONSUMER THAT THE ABS SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED, BUT CONSUMER WAS ADVISED BY SOMEONE ELSE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ABS SYSTEM, CONSUMER ALSO STATES DEALERSHIP IS NOT WILLING TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE VEHICLE. *JB
THE HEAD GASKET FAILED CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLES ENGINE, ANTIFREEZE LEAKED THROUGH THE GASKET INTO THE BLOCK AND DESTROYED THE LUBRICATING EFFECT OF THE OIL CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. NLM

WHILE TRAVELING AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION FRONT LEFT SPRING HAD BROKEN, CAUSING FRONT TIRE TO GO FLAT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON WAS CRACKED. THIS CAUSED TRANSMISSION TO SLIP IN & OUT OF GEAR. PART WAS MADE OF ALUMINUM. MANUFACTURER REPLACED METAL PART WITH ALUMINUM.*AK
